Norwegian Escape Itineraries

Norwegian escape review, review of norwegian escape.

The 2015-built Norwegian Escape cruise ship is the 1st of all four Breakaway Plus-class NCL vessels - together with the sisterships Norwegian Joy (2017), Norwegian Bliss (2018) and Norwegian Encore (2019). This class of liners are approx 7000 GT tons larger in comparison to the previously biggest vessel of the line, Norwegian Epic . The NCL Escape ship cost USD 920 million to build (October 2012 ship order rates).

The vessel (IMO number 9677076) is currently Bahamas- flagged (MMSI 311000341) and registered in Nassau .

History - construction and ownership

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is a subsidiary company of the shipping corporation Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NCLH). NCL was founded in 1966, headquartered in Miami (Florida USA) and publicly traded (NASDAQ) company listed on NYSE ( NYC ). NCLH's major shareholders are the corporations Apollo Global Management (American), Genting Group (Malaysian) and TPG Capital (American). In 2017, the brand NCL had a worldwide cruise market share 8,7% (passengers) and 8,4% (revenue). NCLH (shipowner) owns the brands NCL , Oceania and RSSC-Regent .

Other differences from the Breakaway-class NCL vessels are more Haven Suites (42 to 55), 26 additional Penthouses, 14 Spa access suites, more Studio cabins (59 to 82).

The 82 Studios (designed for solo travelers) are with virtual views and exclusive access to Studio Lounge. The ship also features many family cabins (connecting staterooms) across most categories.

Norwegian Escape Wiki

NCL Escape ship design changes ("Breakaway" compared to "Breakaway Plus" class) include 1 more passenger deck, increased number of Heaven Suites (from 42 to 55), expanded Haven and Courtyard areas, 26 more Penthouse Suites, more Studio cabins (single occupancy rooms - from 59 to 82). Fun fact is that the "Norwegian Escape" name was selected through a Facebook contest with 10 potential names options. The contest was traditionally called "Norwegians Name Their Ships", and included NCL FB fans votes. The same way company's fans picked the names of Breakaway and Getaway . Escape ship's hull theme is by Guy Harvey (marine wildlife conservationist).

NCL Norwegian Escape cruise ship construction

On September 18, 2015, started vessel's 24-hour long conveyance along Ems River (from the shipyard in Papenburg Germany to Eemshaven Holland ). Liner's christening ceremony was on November 9, 2015, lead by godfather Pitbull (rapper Armando Christian Perez). The naming ceremony was attended by NCLH's CEO Frank Del Rio. The opening act featured acrobatic Parkour performers (helped by hidden trampolines built into the stage). Then Froggy ("Elvis Duran Morning Show”) introduced various performers and VIP guests, among which was Carlos Gimenez (Miami-Dade County's Mayor). Pierside at PortMiami, the rapper Pitbull performed a live concert with some of his best hits, including “Don’t Stop the Party”, “Fireball”, "Give Me Everything”. Followed DJ-led sing-alongs.

Ship's Inaugural Cruise (maiden voyage) started on October 29, 2015. The 11-day Transatlantic crossing was from the UK to Florida ( Southampton to Miami ). On March 1, 2016, NCL announced that Escape's scheduled departure time from homeport Miami will be changed - from 4 pm to 7 pm (3 hours later). This change allows NCL cruise passengers later flights (arrivals in Miami) and applies to all the ship's 7-days Eastern Caribbean itineraries out of Miami scheduled for the period May 7 through December 31, 2016.

NCL Escape has the world's biggest marine scrubber system, consisting of all 5 units produced and installed by Yara Marine Technologies. These units clean the engines' sulfur oxide emissions by 99%. At max cruising speed, the ship's engines consume ~11 tons of diesel fuel per hour. In March 2015, Yara Marine installed its latest technology scrubber system on the Brittany Ferries ship Normandie.

The ship was built with new "scrubbers" (exhaust gas cleaning systems). The new technology reduces the equivalent of approx 1500 tons of the poisonous gas Sulfur Oxide. These in-line scrubbers (5 units) are lightweight and able to operate in a dry mode, as well as in open and closed loops.

In 2018 (starting April), NCL Escape was homeported in NYC New York , with departures from Midtown Manhattan. Currently the largest NYC-homeported cruise ship, Escape was repositioned to NYC from Miami for 7-day roundtrips to Bermuda (through September 2018) and also 7-day and longer itineraries to Florida-Bahamas and other Caribbean destinations.

Norwegian Escape Cruise Ship Profile and Photo Tour

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line launched its largest cruise ship, the 4,268-passenger Norwegian Escape in October 2015. This 164,00 ton, 20-deck cruise ship is filled with fun activities, entertainment, and dining and drinking establishments. It's a great ship for families and younger cruisers, although active seniors should enjoy it, too.

The Norwegian Escape is similar to her two sister ships, the Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway , but just enough different to put her into the "Breakaway Plus" class. The Norwegian Escape carries about 200 more guests than her two older sister ships and has a more expansive outdoor activity area, complete with Ropes Course and large AquaPark.

The Norwegian Escape sails from her home port of Miami year-round on 6- to 14-day cruises to the Bahamas and the eastern and/or western Caribbean. Sailing to these warm weather destinations fits perfectly with her large amount of outdoor activity space, outdoor dining venues, and outdoor bars.

This article is a profile of the Norwegian Escape, with information on the

  • dining and cuisine,
  • bars and lounges,
  • outdoor deck areas,
  • entertainment, and
  • kid's areas.

Norwegian Escape Cruise Ship Dining and Cuisine

With a large resort-style ship, cruise travelers expect a lot of different places to dine, and the Norwegian Escape delivers, with 28 dining options. Some of these are luxurious and gourmet, others are casual and takeaway. Although several of the venues are complimentary, many are either a fixed surcharge or a la carte.

The Norwegian Escape has three main complimentary dining rooms -  Manhattan Room , Taste , and Savor. These are contemporary and elegant, with diverse menus.

Iron Chef Jose Garces designed two great new dining options for the cruise ship. The first is Bayamo, a Latin seafood restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining areas. I had dinner there and loved the tuna with watermelon appetizer, shrimp with garlic sauce and charred tomato, and ice cream/sorbet sampler for dessert. Chef Garces' other restaurant is the casual Pincho Tapas Bar, where patrons sit at the bar and watch their tapas being prepared.

The third exciting new restaurant on the Norwegian Escape is the Food Republic, an upscale food emporium from the Pubbelly Restaurant Group. The Food Republic features small plates from around the world, perfect for sharing or sampling an around the world menu.

Norwegian Escape Cruise Ship Bars and Lounges

The Norwegian Escape has 21 bars and lounges. Some of these are great for a casual drink, others provide more elegant surroundings. I especially loved the District Brew House, a new partnership for Norwegian with the Wynwood Brewing Company of Miami. This brewhouse comes with a keg room, 24 draft beers on tap, and more than 50 different bottled beers. It also has some delicious snacks to go along with the beer, and the decor includes one of those old photo booths, where you can take your own instant photo selfie and add it to the pinboard in the bar.

Another great bar is The Cellars, a Michael Mondavi Family Wine Bar. This wine bar is fun for enjoying a glass of wine and some snacks but is also a great place for wine education classes and tastings.

The ship has many more bars and lounges, and many have both indoor at outdoor seating, taking full advantage of the Norwegian Escape's Caribbean itineraries.

Norwegian Escape Cruise Ship Cabins

The Norwegian Escape cruise ship has 2,175 staterooms, and there's something in every price range.

One thing common on the carpet in the cabin passageways of all Norwegian ships is that the "fish face forward", which makes finding your cabin much easier. The carpet in the hallways features small fish all swimming in the same direction--forward. So, if you know the location of your cabin (forward or aft), you can always walk the correct direction. On a large ship, it's sometimes easy to get lost on the cabin decks, and this feature can save a lot of steps.

The large suites are in The Haven , and the most prevalent standard staterooms are the balcony cabins. The Norwegian Escape also has nice oceanview cabins with a large window overlooking the sea, and inside cabins for the budget-conscious cruiser.

Solo travelers will especially enjoy the Studio Cabin complex, which features 82 tiny cabins designed for one person each. These cabins do not have a single supplement. The complex has its own Studio Lounge for the solo travelers, which is a great gathering place.

The Haven on the Norwegian Escape Cruise Ship

The Haven is the Norwegian Escape's private enclave for guests staying in 95 of the suite accommodations on the cruise ship. The Haven guests share a huge courtyard with pool, bar, and private restaurant. They also have many other benefits, including the services of a concierge, priority embarkation and debarkation, and priority tender boarding.

Norwegian Escape Interiors

The interior common areas of the Norwegian Escape cruise ship are contemporary and well-designed for the large ship. The layout is similar to the Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway.

The Mandara Spa , Salon, and Fitness Center is large and features a huge gym, beauty salon, and many body treatment rooms. The thermal relaxation area shown in the photo above is part of the thermal suite, which also features a sauna, steam rooms, and snow room.

Norwegian Escape Cruise Ship Outdoors

The Norwegian Escape sails to the warm Caribbean year-round from Miami so it's not surprising that the large, resort-style cruise ship has impressive outdoor decks that make guests want to play or relax out in the sunshine.

The outdoor decks have areas for adults and kids of all ages. Spice H2O is the adult relaxation, dance, and movie area. The three-story Ropes Course is a challenge for kids of all ages, as is the Aqua Park, with its five exhilarating water slides.

Younger children haven't been forgotten on the Norwegian Escape. They have their own Kid's Aqua Park with numerous ways to get wet.

Norwegian Escape Cruise Ship Entertainment

The entertainment on the Norwegian Escape is first-rate. The cruise ship has two Tony Award-winning musicals in the Escape Theater, which is the largest entertainment venue on the ship.

  • The choreography of "After Midnight" is exceptional, and the costumes are amazing. The entertainers take the audience back to Harlem's Cotton Club. Along with the great singing, dancing, and costumes, an onstage jazz band brings in the big band sound of Duke Ellington.
  • "Million Dollar Quartet" also had a run on Broadway. Guests on the Norwegian Escape will certainly recognize the quartet--Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins. The singers/actors do a great job of capturing the music and the style of these famous icons. A recreation of their December 1956 jam session includes classic rock and roll that will be loved by anyone who loved music from this memorable era.

The Supper Club venue features dinner and a show entitled, "For the Record: The Brat Pack Live at the Supper Club". This entertaining cabaret show looks back at the soundtracks of many of John Hughes' movies from the 1980's like Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club . The show is so much fun that I hardly knew what I was eating!

Headliners Comedy Club has been a popular lounge on other Norwegian Cruise Line ships, and past cruisers are happy to find this venue on the Norwegian Escape.

Norwegian Escape Cruise Ship Kid's Areas

The Norwegian Escape cruise ship has three separate areas for children:

  • Guppies -- ages 6 months to 3 years Norwegian Escape is the first ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet to offer childcare services for children ages 6 months to 3 years. The Guppies Nursery has a playtime area with age-appropriate activities and a separate place for napping.
  • Splash Academy -- ages 3 years old through 12 years old Splash Academy is Norwegian Cruise Line's youth program and has spaces and age-appropriate activities for three different age groups --Turtles: 3 – 5-year-olds Dolphins: 10 – 12 years old (6 – 12-year-olds in low season) Seals 6 – 9-year-olds In addition to the age-appropriate activities, Splash Academy features a Nickelodeon-themed night. Kids can also enjoy an expanded Circus program and participate in an environmental interactive program. Of course, the Splash Academy has video games, a place to dance, and arts and crafts.
  • Entourage -- ages 13 through 17 years old Teens have their own space near the ship's video arcade with trendy lounge furniture and a central gaming station. The area also has teen favorites like foosball and air hockey. At night, Entourage transforms into a teen-only nightclub.

Norwegian Escape Cruise Planning Guide

The brand new Norwegian Escape is the first Breakaway-Plus class ship from Norwegian Cruise Lines. If you are thinking about taking a vacation on this mega-ship, then you have come to the right place. Our

Norwegian Escape Cruise

Share this post:

Finally, Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship, has arrived. This long awaited Breakaway-plus class ship is the line’s largest class of ship to date and delivers some impressive new features, entertainment, and dining venues.

With all of the new onboard experiences, you may need a little help planning your Norwegian Escape cruise .  Even if you are a freestyler, you may need a bit more preparation than your typical NCL cruise to make sure you get to enjoy all that a Norwegian Escape cruise offers.

Norwegian Escape At Night  From Carmen’s Cruise Diary

With all of the possibilities, you might feel overwhelmed, but don’t fret because we here at Eatsleepcruise.com have all the insider tips for you. We have been following the development of the Norwegian Escape for some time and have a trip planned on her in just a few short weeks. Based on this intensive research, we have developed a step-by-step guide to plan a Norwegian Escape cruise.

Plan a Norwegian Escape Cruise

The initial booking.

1. Consider a Travel Agent – We recommend using a travel agent if you are new to cruising as they can assist you with the reservation processes of this innovative vessel. Even if you have cruised before, using a trusted travel agent may help you with the planning stages as this ship has many new amenities unlike any others at sea.  Not to mention, using a travel agent can often save you money and offer you some great incentives ! We used a trusted travel agent who was able to get us the NCL promotion of a free drink package, as well as additional $250 of onboard credit.

The Pool Deck on Norwegian Escape – From Carmen’s Cruise Diary

2. Book Early –  We always recommend booking a cruise at least 6 to 12 months out. Booking further out can be an added bonus with Norwegian Cruise Lines as you earn extra rewards points if you book at least nine months in advance. Early bookings allow you a greater selection of cabins, and you can often secure some of the lowest rates. If promotions or prices change, you can contact the cruise line to get an adjustment. Setting up a price alert, will help ensure you are notified when prices change, and you can keep track of current promotions with emails you will receive from NCL.

Picking the Right Cruise Options for a Norwegian Escape Cruise

3. Set a Budget – Many NCL cruisers know that the cruise fare is only part of the costs associated with any cruise, but especially a Norwegian Escape cruise . Additional costs include specialty dining, alcoholic beverages, shore excursions, and spending money for things like shopping and the casino. There are different cabin categories as well (see below) which will also impact your budget. Look over your finances and come up with a reasonable budget that won’t break the bank and make sure to stick to it! This will ensure you can enjoy everything you want to do and see on the cruise. Be sure to include additional costs like transportation to and from the cruise port and pre/post cruise hotel stays.

Haven Penthouse Room on Norwegian Escape – From Carmen’s Cruise Diary

TIP : Don’t spend all of your money on a fancy room. Save some additional funds for all of the other great things you can do on the ship and while ashore. We often reserve one of the cheapest cabin types so we can spend our vacation budget on other aspects of the cruise.

4. Compare Itineraries – Depending on when you plan to sail on NCL Escape, you have a few different cruise itineraries from which to choose. Honestly, the ship is the main attraction; however, if you are flexible, you will want to compare the options which include either a 7 or 8 night Eastern Caribbean cruise or a 6 night Western Caribbean cruise throughout 2016. For those with an abundance of vacation time, you may want to try the 14 night Eastern and Western Cruise being offered in the summer of 2016.

Our Eastern Caribbean Itinerary on Norwegian Escape  – Norwegian Cruise Lines ©

5. Review Cabins – Choices, choices, choices. On a Norwegian Escape Cruise you have plenty of different stateroom categories from which to choose. From the line’s signature “ship within a ship” Haven, with your own personal pool deck, lounge, restaurant, and luxurious suite accommodations, to the spa mini-suites providing access to the onboard spa and fitness center, to traditional balcony and interior rooms. Here is where having a budget is crucial, as room costs can vary from $599 per person for a 7 night cruise in an interior room to over $3,000 a person for a Haven suite on the same cruise. There are also limited studio cabins available for those traveling solo.

Layout of NCL Escape Balcony Room – From Carmen’s Cruise Diary

Once you are booked on a norwegian escape cruise.

6. Register On Norwegian Cruise Line’s Website – Once you have your reservation number, you should immediately go to NCL’s website to set up an account, if you don’t have one already from booking your cruise. Once you are registered, you can view your reservation and plan numerous different onboard activities.

Norwegian Escape Cruise

We first recommend checking the Vacation Summary section, which provides all the details for your sailing, including dates, a daily itinerary, and cabin. Once you do make some plans, this area will be updated so you can see your daily planned activities. Make sure everything you booked is correct in this section and if anything changes, contact your travel agent or NCL immediately.

7. Begin Using the Explore and Plan Feature – With your NCL account established, and your Vacation Summary information correct,  you can now begin using the online account to customize your cruise and begin planning your daily schedule using the Explore and Plan tab.  Note, you can only make reservations for dinner and shows 90 days prior to your sailin g.  The other options, such as dining plans and shore excursions, were open for us as soon as we made our reservation about six months ahead of our cruise.

We know that most Norwegian Cruisers enjoy the freestyle approach, but even if you are more carefree travelers than we are, we still recommend doing some research and pre-booking at least a few restaurants and shows.  Of course, the Princess and I are the opposite of freestylers, so for our Norwegian Escape cruise , we reserved all nightly dining and entertainment as soon as it was available for booking.

8. Purchasing a Specialty Dining Meal Plan –  Depending on how you like to travel, and your budget, we highly recommend purchasing a Specialty Dining Meal Plan to help you save money. Norwegian Escape is the first NCL ship that now offers a la carte pricing at specialty restaurants. If you purchase a dining plan, you will pay less than $20 a day (depending on the number of days you purchase in the plan) and be able to choose between most specialty restaurants- BUT you will be able eat until your heart’s content, with no additional charges (the only exceptions are Bayamo, Pincho Tapas, and the Supper Club which have additional surcharges even when you have a Dining Plan). For a 7-day cruise, you can buy plans from 3 to 7 days, allowing you to further customize your vacation depending on how many specialty restaurants at which you would like to dine. Remember, if you do not purchase a dining plan, you will pay for each appetizer, entree, and dessert ordered at most specialty restaurants at the menu a la carte price.

9. Purchase a Drink Package –  Norwegian Escape offers a few different drink package options that allow you to consume all the included drinks you want, for one set per-day price. The Corks and Caps program includes beers up to $5.50, wines up to $15 a glass, and all the soda and juice you want, starting at $49 a day, plus an 18% gratuity.

Drinks at the 5 O’clock Bar on Norwegian Escape -Norwegian Cruise Lines ©

The Ultimate Drink Package, which includes the aforementioned drinks, also includes all spirits and cocktails up to $15.00. Unlike other lines, these packages do not include bottled water or specialty coffee, so no matter what package you purchase those will be a la carte. Depending on your alcohol consumption, one of these plans may not only save you money, but will give you some piece of mind that your drinks are covered so there is no bar bill shock at the end of your trip.

TIP : Depending on when you book, you can take advantage of Norwegian Cruise Line’s promotions and perhaps get a Specialty Dining Package, Drink Package, or both included in your cruise fare. We took advantage of a promotion that included a free drink package (although we still had to pay the 18% gratuity) and also got an additional $250 of onboard credit, which we calculated as a better value than the Specialty Dining Package for our cruise. Either way, shop around with different websites to see what perks are being offered once you narrow down sailing dates.

10. Book Shows First –  Even the most adamant Freestyle cruisers should still reserve tickets to both Broadway shows as showtimes are limited. During a typical Norwegian Escape Cruise , you will have the option to reserve tickets to both complimentary Broadway shows playing in the main theater-Million Dollar Quartet and the After Midnight- and purchase tickets to the dinner show at the Supper Club. On our 7 night Eastern Caribbean sailing, there were four total showings of After Midnight offered on three different days, and three total showings of Million Dollar Quartet offered on two different days.

Additional entertainment, such as comedians at the Headliner’s Comedy Club or other headliner acts were not available for pre-booking.

10. Book (at least some) Specialty Restaurants – Yes, the point of a Norwegian Escape Cruise is to have the flexibility of choosing when, where, and with whom you get to dine, but with so many options, you may want to secure reservations at those restaurants on your must-try list. You can make reservations at 10 venues, including the complimentary Manhattan Room, new eats like Bayamo, and the line’s favorites including La Cucina and Cagney’s Steakhouse, which both offer Waterfront seating.

Cagney’s on the Waterfront on Norwegian Escape – From Carmen’s Cruise Diary

Some restaurants will remain truly freestyle, including the 24 hour O’Sheehan’s, the Margaritaville at Sea, and the new Pincho Tapas and The Food Republic.

Remember, you can always cancel with 24 hour advance notice and can also alter reservations at any time pre-cruise.

the first Margaritaville at Sea – From Carmen’s Cruise Diary

11. Make Any Additional Onboard Purchases –  We are big believers in planning as much of our vacation ahead of time as possible (if you didn’t already know that!), so if you are like us, you may want to consider purchasing some additional options before you board. Here, you can choose from gifts to commemorate occasions like birthdays or anniversaries, pick from gourmet food and wine packages, pre-purchase spa packages, photo packages, and more. With everything planned ahead of time, you will just be able to relax and enjoy your cruise experience.

Completing the Cruise Planning Process

12. Purchase Shore Excursions – Once you have your dinner and entertainment reservations secured, the last thing you need to do is plan what you will do when at port. A shore excursion is the chance to get off the ship and explore a new port of call or perhaps try a new and adventurous activity.  You can certainly book through Norwegian Cruise Line, possibly get a better deal through third party vendors like Shore Excursions Group, or book directly with a local tour operator. Whichever you choose, there are plenty of options so book early to secure your spot.

We Can Help You Plan Your Shore Excursions

13. Book a Pre-Cruise or Post-Cruise Hotel Stay – Whether you are traveling to Miami, FL by plane, train, or automobile, a pre-cruise hotel stay is the best way to provide you with some wiggle room in case there are any travel delays.  Or, you may want to extend your vacation a few additional days post-cruise to explore all that Miami has to offer. Either way, staying at a hotel near the port will get you access to the city and ensure you are able to board your ship without any travel related issues.

14. Get Packing – With all your plans set, shows reserved, and some dinner reservations pre-booked, the only thing you need to do now is pack!  Norwegian Escape includes some great onboard activities including the Aqua Park with 4 multi-story water slides, a mini-golf course, and a challenge course that includes a zip line and “The Plank” where you are suspended 8 feet over the side of the ship! Along with all of the great bars and lounges, exclusive areas for the little ones, and some adult only venues too, pack your sense of adventure and get exploring this amazing new ship!

Norwegian Cruise Line Launches 2024 Europe Season: New Homeports, Endless Adventure and Unmatched Value

This Year, NCL Offers More than 100 Immersive Europe Itineraries from 13 Homeports Across Nine Ships, Including Its Newest Prima Class Vessels

Company to Launch First-Ever Summer Season of Sailings Between New York City to Reykjavik, Iceland Beginning July 2024

NCL Delivers an Incredible Value-for-Money Travel Experience with Inclusive Vacation Enhancing Benefits with its Free at Sea Offer

  • Norwegian Viva - Aerial - Lisbon Norwegian Viva in Lisbon during her first call on Aug. 19, 2023
  • Norwegian Escape - Santorini - Composite
  • Norwegian Prima in Reykjavik, Iceland
  • Norwegian Star - Aerial Norwegian Star at sea Pacific Coast

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the innovator in global cruise travel with a 57-year history of breaking boundaries, launched its 2024 Europe travel season on April 19, 2024 with the arrival of Norwegian Epic to its seasonal homeport of Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy, before embarking on a 10-day Greek Isles and Italy voyage.

During this summer travel season, guests embarking on NCL cruises in Europe will have the opportunity to choose from 101 distinctive itineraries with 38 roundtrips and 63 open-jaw sailings, calling to 140 captivating ports across Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, Greek Isles, and the Atlantic Coast.  Additionally, guests can fully explore highlight destinations such as Istanbul, Turkey; Florence (Livorno), Italy and Reykjavik, Iceland with select itineraries offering overnight calls. Cruises will be departing from 13 homeports with New York City; Le Havre (Paris), France; and Oslo, Norway being three brand new options for NCL voyages to Europe.  The Company will have a total of nine ships 1 in region, including its newest innovative vessels, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva , as well as Norwegian Escape , which returns to Europe following its first successful season in 2022.

With an average of 10 hours in port, guests can explore at their leisure or choose from a wide range of shore excursions designed to provide guests with an in-depth experience of each destination. For more immersive experiences, NCL offers a unique collection of shore excursions including, Beyond Blueprints, where guests uncover the design secrets and stories of Europe's most iconic architectural landmarks; Gourmet Tours, designed for the foodie-driven traveler allowing them to go behind the scenes of local cuisines; and Go Local, a selection of excursions inviting guests to unveil the everyday rhythms and customs of life in destinations. Guests aiming to spend even more time in Europe and dive deeper into the rich history of the region can take advantage of NCL's expanding Cruisetours program, a pre- or post-cruise-option that includes roundtrip flights, hotel stays, transportation and excursions. Cruisetours are currently available in 10 European destinations, such as Istanbul, Turkey; Paris, France; Barcelona, Spain; Reykjavik, Iceland; Rome and Venice, Italy, amongst others.

“As we return to Europe for this season, our goal remains consistent—curating unmatched and captivating experiences for guests to immerse in Europe’s most iconic and sought-after destinations, while delivering value for them to maximize their journey with us,” says David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “In fact, we have found that cruising to Europe with NCL offers up to 40% 2  more value than a similar land-based vacation, making it not just a memorable experience, but a cost-effective one. There is still time for guests to book that last-minute trip to Europe with NCL and enjoy the beauty of waking up in a new destination nearly every day.”

Not only does a NCL cruise in Europe offer a great value when compared to a similar land-based vacation with comparable services and inclusions 2 , but it also provides a significantly enhanced experience with a variety of offerings to enjoy on board, including high-production value entertainment; up to 20 world-class dining options; and a wide array of shipboard activities suitable for the whole family, from thrilling races on the only three-level racetracks at sea to serene moments in the award-winning Mandara Spa ® .  Moreover, with NCL's Freestyle Cruising philosophy, guests have the freedom to tailor their vacation experience to their preferences, with no fixed schedules or dinner times.  NCL’s freedom of choice and value proposition invites guests to explore the world while enjoying the convenience of unpacking just once and waking up in a new and exciting destination almost every day.  Plus, with NCL’s Free at Sea offer, guests can customize their vacation even more to their desires by receiving value-enhancing vacation perks such as specialty dining, unlimited beverage package, shore excursion credits, free airfare for the second guest, and others.
