BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Phillip Island

Located at the far western edge of the isle, just minutes from the bridge that connects Phillip Island with the mainland, and adjacent to the sprawling bushland of the Phillip Island Coastal Reserve, this Ingenia Holidays park is great for those who want to get away from it all. There’s also direct access to one of Phillip Island’s many beaches. If you’re craving a bit more civilisation, the shops, cafes and restaurants of Newhaven lie just 500 metres away; or you can even embark upon a walk across the bridge itself, to spend the morning or evening exploring the bigger town of San Remo.

In terms of facilities, you’ll find all the usual suspects here: an adventure playground, a basketball ring, a games room, a TV and recreation room, a modern camp kitchen and undercover electric barbecues. The holiday park located perhaps the closest to Cowes, just two blocks from the main street, Amaroo is in a prime position for those who like to be slap-bang in the centre of things. Unlike many of the other holiday parks on the island, this one boasts its own solar-heated saltwater outdoor pool, surrounded by chairs and loungers. A quiet site, with fewer facilities catering directly to kids than other parks, Amaroo is arguably aimed more at couples and friends, or those with older children rather than little ones.

Summerlands.

On the southwestern tip of Phillip Island, Summerlands is home to the island’s main attraction, the Penguin Parade. Nearby you’ll find Nobbies Centre, outside of which you can see fur seals and birds, then learn about them through interactive displays. As Summerlands is a protected area, you’ll need to set up camp a little farther away. Nevertheless, you’ll find camping areas within a 10-minute drive.

In the small town of Ventnor, just a five-minute drive from the Penguin Parade, camping options include upscale glamping near Berry’s Beach and rural settings near Ventnor Beach.

As the island’s main township, Cowes is home to several accommodation options, including camping areas. Your choices include family-friendly holiday parks with access to both the beach and nearby shops and restaurants.

We love glamping! It’s the fun of sleeping in the great outdoors with added comforts – because while my kids love the idea of camping, the whinging that accompanies hot tents, sticky sleeping bags and spiky rocks doesn’t make for much of a relaxing holiday. 

Glamping also eliminates the need to set up and pack away a tent – nothing worse than doing that when you’re tired or wet.

Here are the best glamping tent accommodation Melbourne and Victoria that are suitable for families. You can choose from stylish bell tents or safari tents, or glamping pods, but they all fit 2 adults and at least 2 children. Obviously, I’ve left off Melbourne glamping locations that are ‘adults only’.

Best Glamping Victoria

1. iluka retreat , mornington peninsula.

Glamping near Melbourne is a true getaway at Iluka Retreat , located on the Mornington Peninsula, close to the Shoreham township.

You can head there for a beach glamping weekend getaway, or they accept group and event bookings too.

Bell tents are set up on the 36 acre private property to overlook a wetland lake with rolling hills in the distance, and costs start at $150.

IIluka Retreat is close to local attractions including Shoreham Beach, wineries and the Peninsula Hot Springs . There is also plenty of bird watching, exploring and cooking in the camp kitchen to do at the property.

2. Balgownie Estate Winery Retreat and Vineyard , Bendigo

There’s a luxurious glamping city with 15 tents throughout the vineyard al Balgownie Estate – a mix of bell tents (sleeps 2), bell tents twin (sleeps 3) and safari tents (sleeps 4). Each has a queen bed and additional guests (where capacity allows) can sleep on a sofa bed.

The well-appointed Safari Tent includes a coffee machine, kettle, bar fridge, fluffy robes and slippers, ensuite and an outdoor bathtub.

Stay on a private property 5 minutes from the heart of Euroa in luxurious glamping tents that sleep 2 or 4 people. Euroa Glamping is happy to accommodate kids, and facilities on-site include a playground.

Tents include bedding and linen, a light, cooking pans, utensils etc, a kettle, table and chairs, a fan during the warmer months and a wood heater during winter.
