  • NEK_MD 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles Aquarium in its death spiral… Bought tickets online for this place at my son’s request and unfortunately did not read the reviews ahead of time. This was a $210 mistake (tickets with 15% discount and $20 (!) parking). The park is tired, dilapidated, out-dated, and the exhibits for the animals appeared dirty. There were as many exhibits as partially shuttered food venues. The bright spots of the visit were that we happened to walk up to the top of the dolphin tank and met a caretaker who was playing with the dolphins. They came up to the edge of the pool, so we got a good look at them. The dolphin show “Flipper” was well-intentioned but short, and the staff seemed to imply that the oldest dolphin, “Flipper,” had been working at the park for 50 years. After the visit, I searched for “seaquarium” and “certification” on Google and learned that the park is being shuttered by Miami-Dade for animal welfare concerns, USDA violations, and loss of zoologic certficiation. The articles in the Miami Herald and The Guardian are damning. I just hope our payment will help the animals and that they are relocated safely when the park closes. Don’t waste your money here. • E9417WGruthc 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Amazing Seaquarium Experience We are from the west and were excited to go to the Miami Seaquarium. We loved the dolphin and seal shows. The trainers love the animals and you can clearly see their dedication and care for them. We also chose to do a dolphin experience and got to engage with a dolphin. The best part of the whole day, so incredible! Again, the trainers and managers were so genuinely loving towards all the animals. They love their jobs. They are talented. We were impressed with their professionalism and protocols in place for animal care. And those qualities really enhanced the experience for all of us. The day also inspired my son and got him watching the 1960’s Flipper movies/shows. He loved watching Flippers world record holding 15ft jump at the seaquarium show! Read more Written March 15, 2024
  • Masteryates 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Save yourself the money and goto Miami Zoo instead Firstly it's now $20 to park your car, not $10 as some have stated. For $120 all in for 2 people, we can't recommend a visit under any circumstances, even if you have the Go City Pass. Read more Written March 14, 2024
  • Cowleasow 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles A well-presented park with plenty to see and do. I took a bus from Miami out to the Seaquarium midweek. Not many visitors which was ideal as it was quite easy to get around the park and attend all the shows. A couple of the exhibits were closed due to renovation but there was still plenty to see. There is quite a variety animals and they do appear well looked-after except for the 2 manatees in the Manatee Exhibit pool - they really should be given a better place to spend out their time (can't be released due to injuries). • Trip27605594276 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Do not take your family! Poor facilities, dangerous food safety, very sad animals. Many facilities permanently closed. Do not go! This place is falling apart. All the facilities need serious maintenance. Many were closed for renovations s but looked to never be opening again. There was a fly inside the taco I order (thank god I saw it!) I looked because the meat was very hard and I wasn’t sure my kids should eat it. Good thing I looked! I mentioned this calmly to a nearby manager who apologized and admitted they were having serious management issues. He offered money back immediately for the expensive food. Of Most concern, the animals all looked very poorly cared for and the overall experience ended up being more sad than anything. One dolphin in the dolphin show was said to be more than 40 years old. I’m not sure how this place is still open. Read more Written January 23, 2024
  • 621pamf 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Not great. Disappointing and expensive. We really wanted to love this aquarium trip but it was pretty disappointing. The facility had many exhibits that were empty including the manatee area which was a huge bummer. We arrived around 2 pm and most of the events for the day were over. We made it to the sea lion show which was a highlight of the trip. Unfortunately, they had loud holiday music playing over speakers (on January 7th) and didn't turn the music down when the sea lion trainer was talking. The sea lions were wonderful and really well-trained. I wanted to hear what the trainer was saying about how they train them but the music was way too loud. I also think that her microphone wasn't of high quality and her words didn't come through clearly. If you have a kiddo who gets overstimulated and is sensitive to noise, I would skip this show. This facility seems to cater to people who can pay extra for encounters with some of the animals. We paid over $120 for three people just to get in and then an extra $20 for parking. I feel like the entry fee was extremely overpriced for the limited offerings. Read more Written January 16, 2024

Reef scuba diving - the sea trek reef encounter.

By Lauren Tjaden

I’ve always wanted to share what SCUBA reef diving in Florida is like with, well, everyone. I want everyone to have the chance to wonder at the fish, in all their vivid glory and shapes and sizes. I want them to see odd plants that are actually animals swaying in their secret rhythms. I want them to be transported by the experience, as I am, to what is literally another world.

But learning to reef dive takes time. It isn’t cheap, either, even if you just do a "Discovery Dive."  Further, all kinds of restrictions exist.

Miami Seaquarium has solved all that with their  Sea Trek Reef Encounter . If you can walk and breathe, you can enjoy Sea Trek.

First, you’ll don a state-of-the-art dive helmet that allows you to breathe freely. Then you’ll descend 15 feet below the surface with your Sea Trek Guide for an underwater walking journey in their 300,000-gallon Coral Reef Tank. You’ll encounter schools of tropical fish, stingrays and more.  Your experience also includes a full day of shows and exhibits at Miami Seaquarium.

It's that easy.

66 years ago, Miami Seaquarium first opened its doors to become one of South Florida’s most popular tourist attractions. When Miami Seaquarium welcomed its first guests in 1955, it was the world’s largest marine attraction. But people weren’t the Seaquarium’s first visitors. That honor was reserved for Mamie, an orphaned three-year-old manatee rescued several months earlier, the first in a long line of marine life cared for at Miami Seaquarium. Today, the oceanarium is one of only four manatee Critical Care Facilities in the state of Florida. View Timeline
