Dame Street welcomes a new pub steeped in Irish history
Katy Thornton
Voyage back in time with your pint.
If you’ve been in the market for a new watering hole to check out for your next tipple, then look no further than Dame Street.
The Voyager officially opened up there at the beginning of September, and it is making itself at home in this prime Dublin 2 location.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Voyager Bar and Restaurant Dublin (@thevoyagerdublin_bar)
The walls are covered in Irish history, making a trip there as educational as it is enjoyable (sure, let’s go with that), with information on our presidents, the famine, Ellis Island and much more plastered all over to give you some reading material while you sip your drink.
Inside the vibes are cosy, with dark wood accents, and its bright red exterior is reminiscent of the 3Olympia Theatre, which is just two minutes up the road.
The new venue is part of the Louis Fitzgerald pubs and hotel group , which also manages spots such as Bruxelles, Kehoes, The Stag’s Head, Gin Palace, and many others dotted all over the country.
You can expect typical pub grub from The Voyager, everything from chicken wings, bangers and mash with onion gravy, Smithwick’s beer battered fish and chips, as well as braised Irish beef and Guinness stew, vegetarian curry, and burgers.
The Voyager also has live music daily, and a wide range of drinks, both alcoholic and alcohol-free.

The Voyager Bar and Restaurant Dublin
Ratings and reviews, location and contact.
great atmosphere, delicious food and great service. A visit to this restaurant is definitely recommended. my favorite: bacon and cabbage, one of the best in the city! 😉
Not the best, we had a better stew at Guinness place which is more touristy. Gosh and chips one piece of fish for 19 euros….Will not recommend
This was a horrible experience, our first time in Dublin and we went in here to eat, no one acknowledged us and we seated ourselves. In about 5-10 minutes a couple came in and the bar tender (who had looked over at us several times)... took them some menus. At that point, my husband asked him to bring us menus. Several minutes later a waitress came out and went to take the other table’s order. That was it! We walked out and they didn’t seem to care. We walked across the street to Trinity Bar and Grill and were immediately seated, had drinks in and food all very quickly and very good!! Go to Trinity and not Voyager! More
Me and my parents were walking around the area and found this place. It was busy, but we were able to get seats. There was great live music going on and the GAA game between Kerry Mayo was on. The service was wonderful, very welcoming.... Dad had the Irish Angus Beef Burger, mom had the homemade fresh soup of the day, which in this case was vegetable soup and I had the Fish and chips. We all loved the food! Highly recommend this place. More
Awful staff, multiple staff behind the bar but only 2 serving. I went to the bar to order some drinks and the bartender proceeded to take the order from a guy behind me, saying that he was in line before me. Giving him the benefit... of the doubt, the waited to be served. When the same bartender served drinks to the customer that was supposedly in line before me, he then proceeded to take the drinks order from a new customer who had joined the line at the bar after me!! The staff was unapologetic when I called them out for this, so I left and took my money to the bar next door (Mulligan & Haines - much better staff and convivial atmosphere). More
An excellent find amongst the many places to eat in Temple Bar. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We both had burgers which were moist and delicious. Given it was a pub meal the service was exceptional. Champions League football was being shown which... was a bonus. It was not too crowded. More
No stars. Staff was rude. There were 5 of us. Everything tasted good. My daughter and I got the beef burgers. We spent the night violently vomiting for hours and hours. Only thing we ate that was similar. We never felt worse. Missed a day... of our vacation cause we couldn’t leave our room. More
Great pub for a pint with friends and some good food! Music was great and loved looking at all of the history on the walls!
Brilliant service staff were so welcoming music was exceptional would recommend to visitors and locals
