Quarantine rules & travel updates for 2022, information on covid-19 (novel coronavirus), 'safe travels' has concluded as of march 26, 2022 for domestic u.s. travelers .

According to Governor Ige, the state of Hawaii will drop the current 'Safe Travels' program for domestic U.S. travelers at midnight on  March 25, 2022 .

That now means  as of March 26th , domestic travelers to Hawaii will no longer need to fill out online forms via Safe Travels, no longer have to worry about QR codes, no longer have to provide proof of vaccination, and ultimately, there won't be any additional requirements or restrictions to fly to Hawaii on a domestic flight.

More information, including all travel advisories, and the steps for international travels can be found on our  Hawaii Travel Updates  page.

All of the following information is now for historical purposes only!

Hawaii has re-opened to Visitors with a pre-travel test or vaccine exemptions for select travelers

Aloha, this page is meant to cover information on Hawaii's travel requirements, quarantine rules, the Novel Coronavirus, and how it has affected tourism within Hawaii. On this page, we'll go over each of the major changes that have taken place in Hawaii due to COVID-19, along with sharing additional links & resources, to help assist visitors. As of July 8, 2021, for those vaccinated within the U.S. , there is now a vaccination exemption available for all Hawaii-bound travelers. For non-vaccinated trans-Pacific travelers and all international travelers (until November 8, 2021) , there remains the option of a state-approved pre-travel test to visit Hawaii and bypass the 5-day (number of required days changed on January 3, 2022) mandatory quarantine requirement.

Travel update for all International Travelers

Updated rules began nov. 8, 2021.

New rules and requirements go into place on  November 8, 2021 ,  for  International Travelers  and for  U.S. citizens flying from International Destinations , when the State of Hawaii begins welcoming international travelers under the new federal requirements.

Traveling to Hawaii with a Pre-Travel Test Result

Quarantine bypass permitted.

  • Travelers who, upon entry into the state, provide written confirmation from a state-approved COVID-19 testing facility of a negative test result from a test administered to the traveler within 72 hours from the final leg of departure, will be able to bypass Hawaii’s mandatory quarantine order.
  • More information about state-approved testing and the current approved & trusted testing partners can be found on our new page Hawaii Covid Testing and Procedures →
  • To reiterate, the test result must be done prior to arrival and the traveler must present evidence of this test upon arrival.
  • As of  July 8, 2021 ,  all travelers  vaccinated in the U.S.  are now able to travel via trans-Pacific routes  without a pre-travel test . As of July 8th, travelers entering the state who have been vaccinated in the U.S. may bypass the quarantine without a pre-travel test. Proof of vaccination will be required. See our Hawaii Health Passport page for more information.
  • All Hawaii Travel Restrictions may be dropped once the state of Hawaii reaches a 70% statewide vaccination rate, using local state data, not national data (as seen on the news).
  • Travelers will be able to upload their negative test result when they complete their travel and health forms ( the health form requirement ends January 4, 2022 ) on the Safe Travels digital system: travel.hawaii.gov
  • All travelers wishing to bypass the 5-day (number of required days changed on January 3, 2022) mandatory quarantine must have their negative COVID-19 test results, from a trusted testing partner , prior to departure  for the state of Hawaii. If test results are not available before boarding the final leg of the trip, the traveler must quarantine for 5 days (number of required days changed on January 3, 2022), or the length of their stay , whichever is shorter.
  • Travelers (including children who are 5 years or older ) will be subject to the pre-test requirement.
  • No testing will be provided upon arrival at the airport! Travelers (returning residents and visitors) are not able to test upon arrival in Hawaii because this is a  pre-travel testing program.
  • The Hawaii State Dept. of Agriculture paper form continues to be distributed to passengers during flights and is still required to be completed prior to arrival.
  • For visitors who cannot provide evidence of a negative test result , the 5-day quarantine will remain in effect . If the quarantine is refused, the passenger must make arrangements to leave the island immediately without leaving the airport.
  • The pre-test is one part of a multi-layered screening process that includes arrival temperature checks, completion of the State Travel and Health form, and secondary screening for those with symptoms or temperatures of 100.4 degrees or higher.

Traveling to Hawaii without Pre-Travel Test Result

5-day quarantine required.

Effective March 26, 2020,  and until further notice Hawaii Governor David Ige is mandating all visitors arriving in the Hawaiian Islands to self-quarantine for 5 days . This means all passengers traveling to Hawaii (visitors and returning residents) must self-quarantine for 5 days (number of required days changed on January 3, 2022) following arrival.

Beginning July 8, 2021, all travelers vaccinated within the U.S. will be able to travel via trans-Pacific routes without a pre-travel test. Beginning July 8th, travelers entering the state who have been vaccinated in the U.S. may bypass the quarantine without a pre-travel test. The steps to follow for the vaccine exemptions are included here .

  • The new online Safe Travels application is now mandatory for all travelers. The application can be found by clicking here .
  • For more information, see our updated section about the new  Safe Travels program .
  • According to the Hawaii Tourism Authority, visitors who are required to self-quarantine for 5 days must designate a hotel or motel as their designated quarantine location.
  • The state of Hawaii’s  Department of Transportation Website further explains the entrance and quarantine process.
  • No person who is subject to the mandatory self-quarantine is allowed to stay in a short-term or vacation rental . This is according to data from the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA).
  • Additionally, operations that rent vehicles may not rent to any person who is subject to a 5-day traveler quarantine order unless an exemption is granted.
  • Violation of the quarantine will be a misdemeanor and subject to a possible fine and/or jail time.
  • The quarantine mandate will continue until further notice for all arrivals, and visitors are responsible for quarantine costs.

More information on the current COVID-19 rules & restrictions, including for each county/island, can be found on our Hawaii Travel Restrictions page.

Current Situation in Hawaii

  • We've moved the Hawaii Daily COVID-19 numbers to our Hawaii News page where we'll update with the latest figures daily.
  • To help mitigate the spread of the virus, residents and visitors are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines regarding hygiene, social distancing, and avoiding gatherings with multiple people.

Visitors should know that Hawaii’s visitor industry continues to maintain the highest standards for sanitation and has taken additional steps to enhance its efforts at hotels, attractions, restaurants, and other public spaces across the Hawaiian Islands to prevent the spread of infectious diseases amongst residents and visitors.

The industry is also taking proactive steps to educate its workforce to continue practicing good hygiene at home and on the job. Visit the official GoHawaii.com website for more details on this event here .

Our Advice on Visiting Hawaii

For any travelers who cannot provide proof of negative test result prior to departure or for travelers that do not have a valid vaccine exemption under the current rules  - provided this would mean that the visitor(s) would need to remain in their rooms for most or all of their vacation, we are strongly recommend travelers to postpone any trips to Hawaii until they can properly be tested or immunized for COVID-19 before departing for Hawaii.

Inter-island Travel in Hawaii

At a news conference on June 4, 2021, Governor David Ige announced that beginning  June 15, 2021 , traveling inter-island within Hawaii will no longer require a pre-travel test and there will be no quarantine requirements for inter-island travel. There will be no restrictions flying between islands within Hawaii.

Facemasks in Hawaii...

All travelers to Hawaii should always wear a mask while visiting Hawaii during the COVID-19 pandemic, not only because it's the right way to show Aloha, but also because in all indoor situations, wearing a mask is required by law. Governor David Ige has now implemented a statewide mask mandate in Hawaii. Unless you are in your room/house/condo, at the beach, or actively eating in a restaurant, you should wear a mask while in Hawaii, especially if you cannot properly socially distance (six feet minimum).

At this time, everyone must officially wear face masks in all indoor public spaces in Hawaii.

  • May 2021 Update:  In late May, Governor Ige announced that  masks are no longer required outdoors , and that ocean sports would again be allowed in Hawaii. The Governor also added the amended outdoor mask rules are effective immediately and apply to everyone, regardless of vaccination status.  Masks are still required for all indoor activities  ― across the board. Travelers and residents can read more on this story in the  local news .

Flying to Hawaii with points and miles

travel to hawaii from california

Flights to Hawaii can be expensive. Luckily, you can get to Hawaii using points and miles . For example, TPG's Summer Hull took her family on a three-week Hawaiian vacation using points and miles . And TPG contributor Ian Snyder leveraged a single card bonus for free flights to Hawaii for a whole family.

In short, there are a lot of ways you can fly to Hawaii with points and miles. For example, you could redeem points and miles to fly on Hawaiian Airlines . You could also redeem Southwest Rapid Rewards points to fly Southwest. But, when flying with Alaska, Delta, United and American, you may be better off booking with partners such as Turkish Miles & Smiles , British Airways Avios , Korean Air SkyPass or Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer .

You could even redeem miles to fly in a lie-flat seat to Hawaii . For example, we've seen American Airlines Web Special awards that would allow you to fly to Hawaii in lie-flat first class for just 45,000 miles . And you can book lie-flat first-class seats on new Hawaiian Airlines routes from 40,000 miles .

Bottom line

Depending on what you plan to do on your Hawaiian vacation, the best time to visit Hawaii will vary. As this guide shows, there are many nonstop flights between the mainland U.S. and Hawaii. But, if you don't live in a city with an airport that offers nonstop flights to Hawaii, you may need to book a connecting flight. Some of the loyalty programs mentioned above only allow nonstop itineraries, but it may be worth booking a separate positioning flight in order to redeem through select programs.

California to Hawaii Travel Guide

Although both are known for their beautiful beaches and amazing weather, Hawaii and California have very different characters. Hawaii's dramatic volcanic terrain creates ever-changing coastlines and spectacular sights, and the lush rainforests and abundant flora and fauna can make it seem like you're exploring another world. With seven public islands available to explore and a thriving tourism industry that caters to visitors, there's always something to do in Hawaii.

If you're expecting California's smooth, sandy beaches, you might be in for a surprise when you head to Hawaii. Although there are plenty of sandy beaches, there are a lot of of lava outcroppings and rocky beaches as well. You may need to bring along some water shoes if you plan on exploring some of the rockier areas. The weather is also different. In particular, be prepared for a lot more humidity. While Hawaiians tend to share Californians' laid-back, friendly attitude, there is a strong Polynesian influence on Hawaiian culture. This is particularly obvious in the food and customs.

However, starting on May 7, 2025, travelers will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification to fly domestically within the U.S., including traveling to Hawaii from the mainland.

Passport Requirements do you need a passport to go to Hawaii

Passport requirements for travelers heading to Hawaii vary depending on whether you are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or foreign national.

As part of the United States, domestic travel within the country does not require a passport for American citizens and permanent residents.

If you’re coming to Hawaii from another mainland state such as California, or New York, your driver’s license or other state-issued photo ID would be sufficient to board your flight.

However, for international travel, those wishing to visit Hawaii need a valid passport. Suppose your home country is part of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), which includes 40 eligible countries like Australia and Germany.

In that case, you can enjoy a simplified process without needing a visa but still require a valid passport.

Non-US citizens intending for international travel to Hawaii must check the specific entry requirements based on their nationality and need a passport to travel before booking their Hawaiian vacation plans.

Additionally, it may be helpful for all travelers, regardless of citizenship status, to carry some form of photo I.D. throughout their trip – this could help expedite any potential security checks along the way.

Beginning May 7, 2025, the need for a REAL ID will substantially impact travelers flying to Hawaii from the mainland.

The REAL ID Act establishes minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards meaning you’ll need a real ID.

As a result, air travelers aged 18 and above must have a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification to board domestic flights in the United States, including trips to Hawaii.

Accepted forms of identification include REAL ID compliant driver’s licenses and state-issued enhanced driver’s licenses (available in certain states), valid passports, U.S. military I.D.s, and DHS trusted traveler cards like Global Entry or NEXUS.

To determine if your current license meets these federal requirements, look for a star at the top portion of the card – indicating that it complies with the new regulations.

If your current license does not meet these criteria and you plan on traveling by air within the U.S., ensure you obtain an updated form of identification before your trip to beautiful Hawaii!

Traveling to Hawaii with kids can be a breeze regarding documentation as long as you have the necessary documents. A valid photo I.D. is typically all they need for US citizen children flying domestically to Hawaii.

Acceptable forms of identification for minors include a school I.D. card or a birth certificate.

We always have a photocopy of our kid’s birth certificates when we travel. We’ve never had to show proof of identification.

However, remember that airline policies regarding travel documents for minors may vary slightly between carriers.

In some cases, airlines might require additional paperwork – such as written consent from both parents or legal guardians if the child is traveling without them or accompanied by only one parent – before allowing the minor on board.

Always double-check your chosen airline’s requirements before departure day and ensure your little ones are fully equipped with the correct identification and documentation needed for smooth sailing en route to their Hawaiian adventure.

Non-US citizens traveling will need a passport for Hawaii and may also be required to obtain a visa, depending on their country of origin.

non us citizen do you need a passport to go to hawaii

If you are a non-U.S. citizen planning to travel to Hawaii, you must meet specific visa requirements.

Depending on your country of origin and the purpose of your trip, different types of visas may apply.

For example, if you are coming for tourism or business purposes for less than 90 days, you may be eligible for a visa waiver through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).

However, you may need a visitor visa if you plan to stay longer or have other reasons for visiting Hawaii. It’s essential to research the specific requirements that apply to your case and allow plenty of time before your trip to complete any necessary paperwork.

U.S. citizens traveling with family members who are not United States passport holders but from countries included in the Visa Waiver Program should register online via ESTA before entering Hawaiian territory.

To know whether their home country is part of this program, they can check by surfing on an official government website.

In addition to a passport or government ID, other necessary travel documents may be required for your trip to Hawaii. Here are some examples:

1. Customs declaration form: If you are traveling with items that need to be declared at customs, such as certain foods or souvenirs, you must complete a customs declaration form.

2. Travel insurance: While not required, it’s always advisable to have travel insurance when traveling, especially internationally.

3. Itinerary and reservation confirmations: It’s a good idea to have copies of your itinerary and reservation confirmations handy in case you need them for any reason during your trip.

4. Tourist visa: Non-U.S. citizens may need a tourist visa before entering the United States for their trip to the State of Hawaii.

5. Proof of accommodations: You may be asked to provide proof of where you will stay during your visit. Make sure you have arrangements made in advance and confirmation documents saved electronically or printed out.

Remember that requirements can change, so it’s essential to check with the appropriate authorities beforehand and stay up-to-date on any new developments or changes that could impact your travel plans.

Before planning a trip to Hawaii be sure to check out our podcast episode on what to know before visiting Hawaii .

To wrap up…

No, if you are a U.S. citizen traveling within the country, you don’t need a passport, but a  valid form of identification , such as a driver’s license, will suffice. However, you do need a passport for Hawaii  if you are traveling from outside the United States .

inter island travel do you need a passport to travel to hawaii

When traveling between the Hawaiian Islands, a valid photo I.D. is required for all passengers, but a passport for U.S. citizens is not necessary since it is still within the United States.

As a U.S. citizen, you do not need a passport to fly to Hawaii, as it is an American state. For permanent residents of the U.S., the same applies – no passport is required.

However, you may need a valid passport and other travel documents to enter Hawaii if you are traveling from another country or are not a U.S. citizen or resident. Check with your airline beforehand and have all necessary documents in order. It’s always better to be prepared!

The good news is that if you are traveling with minors and they are U.S. citizens traveling within the country, your children do not need a passport to visit Hawaii, even on domestic flights.

According to TSA guidelines, American citizens traveling within the United States only need a valid government-issued photo I.D. regardless of age.

However, it’s worth noting that travel requirements can vary depending on the airline and the specific circumstances of your trip. For example, additional documentation may be required if your child is flying alone or with someone not their legal guardian.

It’s always best to check with your airline and review current travel regulations before heading off on your Hawaiian adventure!

Ferry Travel From California To Hawaii: Everything You Need To Know

' src=

Save money on your next flight

Skyscanner is the world’s leading flight search engine, helping you find the cheapest flights to destinations all over the world.

Are you considering taking a ferry from the West Coast to our beautiful Hawaiian islands? With stunning ocean views and a relaxing pace, ferry travel is a unique way to get to Hawaii that avoids the hassle of flying.

If you’re short on time, here’s a quick answer to your question: Currently there are no direct ferry services available for public transportation between California and Hawaii . The journey would take over a week each way.

In this comprehensive guide, we’ll cover the feasibility, routes, travel time, costs, amenities, and alternatives for ferry travel to Hawaii from the continental US.

Is Ferry Travel from California to Hawaii Possible?

Happy woman enjoying the sea from ferry boat

Many people dream of taking a leisurely ferry ride from California to the beautiful islands of Hawaii. However, currently, there are no direct public ferries available for this journey.

While it may seem like an idyllic way to travel, there are a few reasons why ferry travel between California and Hawaii is not currently possible.

No Direct Public Ferries Currently Available

At present, there are no public ferry services that operate directly between California and Hawaii. This is mainly due to the long distance and logistical challenges involved in such a voyage .

The vast Pacific Ocean presents a significant obstacle that makes it difficult for traditional passenger ferries to navigate safely and efficiently.

Additionally, the unpredictable weather patterns and rough seas in the Pacific further complicate the feasibility of establishing a regular ferry service.

While there have been discussions and proposals for a ferry route between California and Hawaii in the past, these plans have not materialized due to various factors, including the high costs of establishing and maintaining such a service.

However, it is important to note that the absence of public ferries does not mean that there are no other options for traveling between these two destinations.

Freight Ships Make the Journey

Although there are no direct passenger ferries, freight ships do make the journey between California and Hawaii. These cargo vessels transport goods and supplies between the two regions, ensuring a steady flow of essential items.

While it is not possible for passengers to book passage on these freight ships, it is interesting to know that these vessels are capable of making the journey across the Pacific Ocean.

It is worth mentioning that freight ships are not equipped with the amenities and accommodations typically found on passenger ferries.

They are primarily designed to transport cargo rather than passengers, and their schedules and routes are determined by the needs of the shipping industry.

Therefore, while it may not be possible to travel on a public ferry, it is intriguing to know that there is some maritime activity between California and Hawaii.

Future Possibilities

While ferry travel from California to Hawaii may not be possible at the moment, it is always exciting to consider future possibilities.

As technology and transportation continue to advance, it is not inconceivable that a direct ferry service could be established in the future.

However, it would require significant investments in infrastructure, vessel design, and navigational technologies to make such a venture safe, reliable, and economically viable.

Furthermore, any proposed ferry service would need to consider environmental factors and sustainability.

The long-distance journey would have an impact on fuel consumption and emissions , so it would be crucial to develop eco-friendly solutions to minimize the environmental footprint of such a service.

The flight duration typically ranges from 5 to 6 hours , depending on the departure and arrival airports.

It’s also a good idea to check for any special promotions or discounts that may be available.

Witness an awe-inspiring sunrise at Haleakala, snorkel with sea turtles at Molokini, stroll the eclectic shops in Lahaina and witness a ceremonial cliff dive at Black Rock.

Sandwiched between Kauai and Maui is the bustling island of Oahu. The most populated in the chain, Oahu offers a unique blend of modern and ancient influences. Transforming the southern coastline is the city of Honolulu while monster waves rule the northern coast. Reflect on U.S. history at Pearl Harbor, stroll through the pineapple maze at the Dole Plantation, hike the Diamond Head crater for unobstructed views of Waikiki Beach, visit the new International Market Place, and watch big wave surfers tackle the Banzai Pipeline.

There is indeed an island for every personality. Find your Hawaii, find your paradise.

Once the favorite playground of Hawaiian royalty, great warrior King Kamehameha chose to make  Maui's  Lahaina his capital after uniting the Hawaiian islands. When it comes to  Kauai , good things come in small packages. Despite being the smallest of the four main islands, Kauai is home to the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" Waimea Canyon, the lush Fern Grotto framed by Wailua River, and so much more. The stunning Na Pali Coast has served as the backdrop for Hollywood blockbusters, such as Jurassic Park and King Kong. With endless emerald landscapes, Kauai truly lives up to its nickname of "The Garden Island".

Nearly twice as big as all of the other Hawaiian islands combined, the Big Island ( Hilo and Kona ) is a paradise of black-sand beaches, tropical rainforests, and even snow-capped peaks at the soaring Mauna Kea summit. Feel the spiritual "mana" on a shore excursion in Waipi'o Valley, once the meeting place for Hawaiian kings and fabled to contain an otherworldly gate. At the famous Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, behold extraordinary lava landscapes and two of the world’s most active volcanoes.

The 10 best beaches in the US to visit right now

L aguna, La Jolla, Clearwater , Miami – there’s no doubt that the US does a sterling job in stellar beaches . But sometimes such over-subscribed destinations can make carving out your own slice of paradise without the crowds something of a challenge.

Thankfully, the US is home to over 95,000 miles of shoreline, with 30 states boasting a coast, meaning there are plenty of secret surf and sand spots, whether you’re looking for family beaches , supreme sunset viewing points , dramatic cliffs, or simply a place to connect with nature.

There are plenty of options to choose from, but we’ve narrowed it down to 10 of the best secluded, underrated beach locations in the United States .

From isolated sandy stretches in North Carolina to hidden spots on California ’s rugged coastline and the breathtaking sunsets across Hawaii ’s Polihale Beach sand dunes, each of these would make an unforgettable holiday that’s far from the madding crowd.

Cannon Beach, Oregon

While some beaches trade off their sunshine quota, Cannon Beach in the Pacific Northwest is unique by virtue of being a marvel to visit whatever the weather. This long sandy stretch of coastline is home to the dramatic Haystock Rock, a giant towering rock formation that’s accessible on-foot at low tide. Adjacent stone “needles”, tidalpools and flocks of seabirds combine to make this an atmospheric spot. While a summer stroll is always pleasant, visiting in winter, with crashing waves and brooding skies is an unforgettable experience. Don’t leave without checking out the many art galleries and specialist shops that populate the town.

Outer Banks, North Carolina

North Carolina’s Outer Banks are a 100-mile plus stretch of barrier islands separating the mainland through a series of sounds and inlets. Home to wild horses, lighthouses and blissfully isolated expanses of sand, it’s the ideal place to seek out a spot away from the crowds. Hit the surf at Cape Hatteras, go fishing at Rodanthe Pier, or scramble up Jockey’s Ridge, the tallest living sandy dune system on the east coast.

Avalon Beach, New Jersey

Don’t be put off by its association with reality TV show Jersey Shore : this Atlantic region is home to 127 miles of sublime coastline, with plenty to interest and inspire. Head to Avalon on the Seven Mile Beach for white-sand beaches perfect for swimming, boating or kayaking, while North Wildwood is home to gentler waters and completely free to visit. Commercial boardwalks with amusements, water parks, shops and restaurants make this an ideal destination for a family break.

Kauaʻi, Hawaii

Hawaii ’s beaches are renowned the world over for their soft, white sands and tropical waters, but KauaÊ»i is best known for its dramatic cliffs, canyons and lush rainforests. Known as the “Garden Isle” for its verdant interior, it’s an ideal destination for trekking and kayaking, as well as being home to some of Hawaii’s most beautiful beaches.

PoÊ»ipÅ« Beach Park is one of KauaÊ»i’s most popular beaches, with a wading pool for younger swimmers and the occasional Hawaiian monk seal appearance, but travellers who really want to escape the crowds should head to the remote Polihale Beach. Located at the end of a dirty road, it’s a whopping 17 miles long, making it the longest stretch of beach in the entire state of Hawaii. Expect giant sand dunes, desert cacti and jaw-dropping sunsets. Polihale is notorious for being a very dangerous beach for swimming, however, so swap the dip for a steady stroll along the sands.

Cape Charles, Virginia

On the National Register of Historic Places, Cape Charles has one of the largest concentrations of turn-of-the-century buildings on the east coast. This quaint Victorian-era town is home to award-winning golf courses, two nature preserves ripe for exploration, and watersports galore, including kayaking, paddleboarding and jet-skiing. Plus, Cape Charles’ soft, sand beach is free to access, with calm and shallow waters making it suitable for waterbabies.

Padre Island National Seashore, Texas

A 15-minute drive from downtown Corpus Christi is Padre Island, the world’s longest undeveloped barrier island. This conservation area, stretching around 66 miles, is a major migratory bird route and home to 350 different species, with nearly half of all north American migratory bird species passing through here at different times of the year. Explore this charming stretch of coastline by kayak or canoe, watch sea turtles being released, or simply walk along this untouched stretch of coastline. And if the prospect of returning to four walls doesn’t appeal, you can also camp here.

Seal Beach, California

California ’s not short of excellent beaches, but Seal Beach is an underrated gem. This laid-back town south of Los Angeles ’ Long Beach has soft white sand, incredible views from the second longest wooden pier in the state, and a 965-acre wildlife refuge you can visit. It’s also the start (or end) point of the San Gabriel River Trail, a 36-mile long cycle route that’s one of the best traffic-free spots in the valley for biking.

Dauphin Island, Alabama

Skip the crowds at Gulf Shores and Orange Beach and take the 40-minute ferry ride to the more secluded Dauphin Island. Known as the “sunset capital of Alabama”, this island is home to seven miles of white-sand beaches, great weather and crystal clear waters. Hike through the ancient maritime forest of Goat Tree Reserve, where you can spot birds including vireos, flycatchers and owls and sign up for a chartered fishing expedition, before feasting on crab and lobster at the acclaimed Skinner’s Seafood.

Wellfleet, Massachusetts

Cape Cod has long been a major draw for visitors on the east coast, but it’s also prone to overcrowding. Wellfleet, meanwhile, is a pretty, small and peaceful town surrounded by coast on both sides and centrally located, meaning it’s easy to travel around if you start to yearn for more action. It’s also famed for its excellent oysters, making it an dream destination for foodies. Head to Mac’s on the Pier for some of the best. And don’t leave without visiting the Wellfleet flea market, the biggest on Cape Cod.

Wildcat Beach, California

Fancy a challenge? Rewards don’t come easy at Wildcat, with visitors required to hike five miles to reach this remote California beach, but it’s more than worth the trek. Short on time? Mountain bike on the Stewart Trail, before cooling off in the Pacific. This peaceful spot is home to seals, striking cliff views and some incredible sunsets. And if you’d prefer to spread the hike over a few days, you can rest your bones at Wildcat Campground. For a more active trip, pack up and hike north up the coastline to discover more secret beaches.

Top 4 airlines serving from Hawaii to California

I commend the flight attendants on our SFO-SIN flight who went above and beyond to provide us with extra snacks and food. This type of service makes the flight experience personal and awesome.

It was a great flight Food was great Crew was spectacular

In general good, but the machine seems to be long in operation and some functions were restricted as e. g. Adjusting of seats.

When boarding, after business class should be premium economy, but economy class already lined-up at the gate blocking premium economy to board. Singapore airline crew should done a better job to organize this chaos :( Thank you.

It seems paying premium economy does not make difference with economy. No priority boarding, not worthy paying extra$$$ for premium economy.

People were so nice! Economy seats were small and cramped feeling for me. I’m slender and 6 feet tall

The singapore airline now compared before covid, I like the service before covid. SQ was the best of all airlines but now I am going to look for different airline if I am travelling in asia.

They were able to assist my elderly father and myself after not being able to check in to scoot. The counter service was phenomenal. They did what they could to get us on the next plane so we could catch our Connecting flight. Scoot closed early on us so we ended up missing our flight.

They are great with every aspect of customer service. Helped my elderly father and aided him with using the restroom.

Due to the delay of my first flight, my connecting flight with JetBlue was canceled by Singapore Airlines, but the JetBlue crew was very accommodating and rebooked a seat for me. The crew was very nice and had good attitude.

Excellent. Planes are a little older and could get some refurbishment, but besides that everything was excellent.

While I was in great pain, the seat was sufficiently comfortable to allow me to rest and not be in so much pain.

we were upgraded which was a blessing and tender mercy for us. I fell the day before and was in extreme pain from knee to shoulder. Sitting in a more comfortable seat during the flight was an unexpected blessing and experience.

Seats were very comfortable. Crew were excellent. Food very good.

Flight crew was especially thoughtful and attentive, made sure our seats were comfortable so we could rest on the long flight

I felt thirsty and asked the flight attendent for water, but no one came for more than half an hour.

Everything went smooth. All flights were on time No changing gates, . No changing flights . It was like a completely different airlines tha n the last time I used Cathay Pacific . The last flight, 2 months ago, I had before this one was from Philippines also . I got changed in Manila and was told it only added 2 hours onto my flight . My 20 hour return trip ended up being 30 hours return with a 10.0 hour layover in New York with no seats anywhere . Everyone was sleeping or sitting on the floor . Unlike the hotel I was given in Manila to wait for this flight home . I never thought I would use Cathay Pacific again . But I did and this time you were great! I should have complained about the flight and layover from Hell a couple months ago. Consider that I am complaining about that august/23 flight now . Thank you got the great flying experience on my way home from philippines .

Everything was good food could be better but ok for economy on my 2nd flight the head ph jack are bad you have to hold pushed in to hear anything but other then that very nice service

In flight entertainment system including wifi were down and passengers got tortured for the 16 hours flight without any of these. Food was spoiled as well for the first meal provided but second meal was Ok. Overall a horrible experience which was not at all expected for such a long haul flight which was expected to be THE most memorable part of my planned trip for family.

I traveled to Singapore for 5 days, I didn’t receive my luggage until the 3rd day. When I received my luggage was broken which they fixed it supposedly. I never had such a poor experience with the any other airline. I honestly think it should be a compensation for all of my losses and suffering that I went through.

6hrs fly they dont give you a glass of water from seoul to singapore need to buy drink and food plus they charge for bag on international fly is always Free 1 bag from seoul to singapore is Not a local fly you are traveling true asia same story from singapore to Bali no water drink after payment for bag drink cost more the regular airline Well never use this company again we use regular company like Delta korea japan China and even scoot parent company Singapore Air

We had 2 attempts to land at Singapore Changing during a thunderstorm. Everything was delayed by 1 hour plus.

Boarding was not accordingly after front seat, bmf then back seat. This delayed for at least 40mins or more. The staff at Jakarta can do better. Is chaos at the entry to board the plane. This tarnished Scoot reputation when everyone was talking about it.

The crew was not customer oriented at all, even confrontational . The aircraft needs more attention to detail as far as comfort, and the 1 hour sitting at the gate with no air is inexcusable

We flew on the 787 Dreamliner direct to main gate at KLIA2, quick entry via eGate and on the train 41mins after touchdown. Go well SCOOT

Was on scoot plus. The only good thing about the flight was the spacious seats. Tables and armrests were extremely dirty Food: bad Entertainment: non existent Wifi: unable to connect, then was painfully slow that we couldn’t even send messages Good thing we had a night flight, so we just slept throughout.

Not clear why boarding passes could only be issued at the counter and not through the kiosk. I had already check-in on the web, so waiting to obtain a boarding pass 1.5 hours before the actual flight defeats the purpose of early web check-in.

no charging point. food offering is limited and very much on the budget line. Overall is not satisfying for such a price and duration of flight.

We were delayed, but there was never any update given. Everyone was standing at the gate as boarding was supposed to commence at 13:10 for a 13:55 flight. We didn't actually start getting on the shuttles to the plane, until after 14:00. No updates, no information given at all.

Scoot refused to change my flight even though I had booked a flexible ticket. MyTrip wanted to charge me an extra $271 for a ticket that was only listed as $217. I complained about this to scoot and they didn't give a shite. So never again will you be getting money from me Scoot. You can Scoot off.

Delay flight more than 8hours waiting and poor customer service!

Plane was extremely small so mind the size of your carry on

Other than lack of snacks, everything else went very well.

They don’t keep you updated on the flight status very well. It was late but nothing said

U.S. Targets Unlikely to Be on List in Possible Iranian Attack, Officials Say

In anticipation of the Iranian strikes, several countries, including the United States, issued new guidelines to their citizens about travel in Israel and the surrounding region.

  • Share full article

A giant poster with images of seven men looms above a dense crowd carrying flags on the street during the day.

By Eric Schmitt ,  Farnaz Fassihi ,  Aaron Boxerman and Thomas Fuller

American intelligence analysts and officials said on Friday that they expected Iran to strike multiple targets inside Israel within the next few days in retaliation for an Israeli bombing in the Syrian capital on April 1 that killed several senior Iranian commanders.

The United States, Israel’s pre-eminent ally, has military forces in several places across the Middle East. But Iran is not expected to target them in order to avoid a direct conflict with the United States, according to U.S. and Iranian officials who spoke anonymously about the expected attacks, which they were not authorized to discuss publicly.

Any Iranian strike inside Israel would be a watershed moment in the decades of hostilities between the two nations that would most likely open a volatile new chapter in the region. Israel and Iran do not maintain any direct channels of communication, making the chances far greater that each side could misread the other’s intentions. And an Iranian attack would heighten the risk of a wider conflict that could drag in multiple countries, including the United States.

In remarks to reporters on Friday, President Biden said that he expected a military attack against Israel “sooner than later,” and that his message to Iran was “don’t.”

“We are devoted to the defense of Israel,” he added. “We will support Israel. We will help defend Israel and Iran will not succeed.”

In anticipation of an Iranian strike, several countries, including the United States, have issued new guidelines to their citizens for travel in Israel and the surrounding region. The Israeli military said its forces were on high alert.

The U.S. State Department barred its employees on Thursday from traveling to large parts of Israel, the first time the U.S. government has restricted its employees’ movement this way since the war in Gaza began more than six months ago.

On Thursday, Britain told its citizens that they “should consider leaving” Israel and the Palestinian territories “if it is safe to do so.” On Friday, India told its citizens “not to travel to Iran or Israel till further notice.” And France advised people not to travel to Israel, Iran or Lebanon, and evacuated the families of French diplomats from Iran.

Details about Iran’s potential attack on Israel are closely guarded, but American and Israeli officials have assessed that it might involve drones and missiles. Iran has the largest arsenal of ballistic missiles and drones in the Middle East, including cruise missiles and anti-ship missiles, experts say, as well as short-range and long-range ballistic missiles with ranges up to 2,000 kilometers (about 1,250 miles).

Iran also has a large inventory of drones that have a range of about 1,200 to 1,550 miles and are capable of flying low to evade radar.

The exact form an attack on Israel might take, what kinds of targets would be involved and the precise timing all remain unclear.

The top American military commander for the Middle East, Gen. Michael E. Kurilla, traveled to Israel this week to coordinate a response should Iran attack, U.S. officials said.

“Our enemies think that they will divide Israel and the United States,” the Israeli defense minister, Yoav Gallant, said in a statement on Friday, after meeting with General Kurilla. “They are connecting us and are strengthening the relationship between us.”

If Iran attacks, he added, “we will know how to respond.”

On Thursday, the Israeli military’s chief spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, said the armed forces were “highly alert and prepared” for any action from Iran.

Iran has publicly and repeatedly vowed revenge for the April 1 airstrike on its embassy complex in the Syrian capital, Damascus, which killed three generals and four officers from its elite Quds Force, an arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.

But analysts say Iranian leaders want to calibrate their response so that it is big enough to send a message at home and abroad that Iran is not impotent in the face of conflict, but not so big that it spirals into a full-fledged war with Israel or draws an American attack.

In the first months of the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Iran-backed militias regularly attacked U.S. troops in Iraq, Syria and Jordan. But after a drone strike killed three Americans in Jordan in January and the United States launched retaliatory strikes , Iran stopped the attacks by its proxies, fearing a more powerful U.S. response.

Despite the clashes and hostile rhetoric, both Iranian and U.S. leaders have made it clear they want to avoid an all-out war.

John F. Kirby, the White House’s national security spokesman, told reporters on Friday, “We are certainly mindful of a very public and what we consider to be a very credible threat made by Iran in terms of potential attacks on Israel, and that we are in constant communication with our Israeli counterparts about making sure that they can defend themselves against those kinds of attacks.”

How Israel would respond to an Iranian attack on its soil is unclear. The Israeli military “continues to monitor closely what is happening in Iran and different arenas,” Herzi Halevi, chief of the Israeli general staff, said in a statement on Friday. He added, “Our forces are prepared and ready at all times and for any scenario.”

Iran believes it can generate international support for a retaliatory strike by focusing attention on the attack against its embassy complex and arguing that it was merely defending itself, the Iranian officials said.

International law generally treats embassies and consulates as exempt from attacks. But Israeli officials have argued that the building they destroyed was diplomatic in name only, and was being used as a Revolutionary Guards base, as evidenced by the high-level commanders who were meeting there when they were killed.

A strategist for the Revolutionary Guards said Iran wanted to take advantage of the widening rift between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and Mr. Biden over Israel’s conduct of the war against Hamas — and not unite them in hostility to Iran.

The Biden administration has not only criticized the level of death and destruction wrought by Israeli forces in Gaza, it has also voiced fears that increased clashes across Israel’s northern borders, primarily with Iranian proxies like Hezbollah, could escalate into a broader regional war.

In an apparent response to international pressure , including from the United States, to do more to alleviate the hunger and deprivation produced by the war in Gaza, the Israeli military said on Friday that it had begun allowing humanitarian aid trucks to enter northern Gaza through a new crossing.

The military did not specify the location of the new crossing, and it remained unclear how many trucks had crossed, what aid agency they belonged to and when the crossing might be open for wider use.

Jamie McGoldrick, a top U.N. relief official in Jerusalem, said that U.N. officials planned to head to the crossing on Saturday to examine it. He said the crossing would be a significant improvement “if it can go to scale and is not temporary.”

After Israeli strikes killed seven aid workers on April 1, Mr. Biden told Mr. Netanyahu by phone that the United States could withhold military support for Israel unless it did more to protect civilians and ensure adequate supplies for Palestinian civilians.

Mr. Gallant, Israel’s defense minister, pledged on Wednesday to “flood Gaza with aid” and said he expected to ultimately see 500 relief trucks entering the enclave on a daily basis. U.N. figures show that an average of about 110 aid trucks have entered Gaza daily since the war began on Oct. 7.

Mr. Gallant also said that Israel would soon open the port of Ashdod, an Israeli city north of Gaza, to accept aid shipments, without providing a time frame.
