Trek to Consolidate Shops

For the first time since 1963, there won’t be a bike shop at 202 West Laurel Ave.  According to Alex Broyhill, the General Manager of Trek Bicycles North Fort Collins, Trek was unable to come to an agreement with Archie Solsky, the former owner of Lee’s Cyclery and the current owner of all three Northern Colorado Trek Bicycles’ buildings.  Trek will consolidate both Fort Collins shops and move into the former FedEx Kinkos location at Harmony Road and JFK Blvd, near Buffalo Wild Wings (4515 John F Kennedy Pkwy Ste B).  The Loveland shop (4880 Thompson Pkwy Unit 110, Johnstown, CO 80534) will also move, although a location has yet to be announced.

The South Fort Collins store will close on June 10th to start moving inventory into the new location, and the North Fort Collins store will close on June 17th. The new Trek Bicycles Fort Collins store is set to open on June 20th. Once the new location is open, Broyhill will become the Sales Manager, and Lake Campbell, the current South store General Manager will become the GM of the consolidated shop. No other staff changes are expected.

According to Broyhill, both shops will offer deep discounts on most items in an effort to blowout inventory before the move.

Lee Cooper opened Lee’s Cyclery at 202 West Laurel Ave in 1963. Archie Solsky bought the business in the 1980s and purchased the building in 1986.  Solsky and Randy Morgan built the Harmony/Lemay building specifically for their businesses Lee’s South and Sunsport/Outpost, in 1995. Solsky built the Loveland building in 2008 and sold all three shops to corporate Trek Bicycles in June of 2018.
