YOB Announce European Tour Dates

I’d be telling you to see YOB even if I hadn’t recently had the pleasure myself. It was my first show in New York in over two years and a genuine piece of needed spiritual rejuvenation. If you’ve seen YOB before, you know what I’m talking about. I’ve decided that my wife needs to see them next time they come through. That’s how important they are to me.

And Dave French killed it on drums. Don’t get me wrong, there are few drummers I’m as pleased to see walk into a room as Travis Foster , but French brought it. Recall he was in Brothers of the Sonic Cloth . If he’s heavy enough for frickin’ Tad , he’s heavy enough for you.

So anyway, YOB ‘s got newly announced European tour dates and previously announced Southwest tour dates. Here are both:

We are so stoked to be heading out on tour, and with True Widow! Our beloved brother and drum wizard Travis is taking some time away from shows. The three of us put our heads together and approached Dave French, the sublime drum crusher from Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth to fill in. The four of us have toured together many times. We’re family, it shows, and holy shit is Dave killing it. We’re on fire, and we can’t wait to bring it to you.

The post YOB Announce 2021-2022 Tour Dates, Unveil Deluxe Reissue of 2011’s Atma appeared first on Consequence .

YOB have announced 2021-2022 US and European tour dates. The acclaimed metal band has also unveiled a deluxe reissue of 2011’s Atma , available now digitally and arriving April 8th on vinyl.

The upcoming shows will be YOB’s first since the pandemic began, with some being rescheduled dates from their postponed 2020 tour . They’ll start with three Pacific Northwest shows in December of this year before returning to the road on February 20th for a four-night residency at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, New York.

After those concerts, the traveling US leg of the band’s 2022 tour kicks off March 17th in Sacramento, California, and runs through a show on March 25th in Salt Lake City. Fellow stoner-doom act True Widow will support a handful of those shows.

A month later, YOB will then hop the pond for the European leg, kicking off April 27th in Glasgow, UK, and running through May 27th for an appearance at Desert Fest in Berlin.

Like most bands, YOB had to postpone their 2020 touring plans due to the pandemic. In the downtime, the band was able to work on a neglected project: remixing their 2011 album, Atma .

As singer-guitarist Mike Scheidt explained, “When we first recorded Atma , our aim was to have a raw production, lo-fi and punk, and we did get that sound. Over the years, though, we wondered what it would be like to have Billy Barnett remix Atma, allowing him to give it Gung Ho Studio’s scope and thunder, as he has on The Illusion of Motion , The Unreal Never Lived , Clearing The Path to Ascend , and Our Raw Heart .”

Gone is the somewhat muddy production of the original. Upon a quick sampling of the digital release, the re-worked Atma shines with the same massive sound as those aforementioned albums. The full breadth of the band’s crushing sludge-doom sound has been unleashed. For posterity, the deluxe reissue also includes the original 2011 mixes.

“Due to our busy schedules, this idea sat on the back burner but when the pandemic hit, we had the time to not only approach the project, but approach it with this goal: to keep everything in Jeff Olsen’s amazing raw-punch production while having Billy make it volume-wide and monolithic in detail and space. We’re thrilled with the result, and hope you will be too!”

YOB ANNOUNCE EU/UK TOUR AND DELUXE RELEASE OF ‘ATMA’ – DETAILS HERE

YOB closeout 2021 with the release of a remixed and remastered version of their stunning sixth album, ‘Atma’, and word of the trio’s first tour since 2019 including EU/UK dates.

YOB will be returning to EU/UK shores next year with a select run of dates…

“ When we first recorded Atma, our aim was to have a raw production, lo-fi and punk, and we did get that sound. Over the years, though, we wondered what it would be like to have Billy Barnett remix Atma, allowing him to give it Gung Ho Studio’s scope and thunder, as he has on The Illusion Of Motion, The Unreal Never Lived, Clearing The Path To Ascend, and Our Raw Heart ,” explained Mike Scheidt of the newly remixed and remastered collection.

The nearly-hour-long album initially arrived in 2011, with NPR dubbing the five-track release “ an incredibly spiritual ” album “ that explores the energy of self and its surroundings .” Guest musicians included Scott Kelly ( Neurosis ), Jeff Olsen , and Dustin Rieseberg . Atma landed on numerous year-end lists, including best of countdowns from the New York Times, Decibel Magazine, SPIN, and Pitchfork.

Atma (Deluxe Version) is available digitally now, with the digital release featuring 10 tracks: the five remastered/newly mixed versions followed by the original 2011 renditions. An array of 2xLP vinyl variants arrive on April 8th and are available for pre-order via this link .

Ok...I haven't really spent a great deal of time listening to Yob. I saw them once a few years ago at The Subterranean, but I really came to see Dark Castle. This time my main reason for attending was to see Black Cobra whom I like both as a band and as people from talking over the years w/Jason, the guitar player. Of course, they put on a great opening set. Acid King followed and I only knew them by reputation. They were truly fantastic; I am sorry I have missed them all these years. The audience (of which I was a part, LOL) was greatly appreciative and we stomped until they came out for an encore. Yob came on last and I enjoyed them greatly. I will take some time to explore their work and become more familiar w/them. Just in case someone does not know...Reggies is a great, great venue for metal shows in Chicago. The place and staff are welcoming and the people who come for the shows are coming for the music, so it's a great experience all around.

Well funny I got an email asking how the Yob show was. I flew from Dutch Harbor, Alaska and didn't get to see it cuz the venue is garbage! I tried to get tickets online and they didnt have any and had to get them at the place. Had a friend call them and they said they couldn't put them on hold so he went down to buy them and they said they were on hold! So they obviously cater to their own friends. They said get them at the door. We went there and they allowed there to be a huge line for tickets (obviously so the people waiting buy drinks with false hopes of getting in) and then when the doors open they only let 4 people in! Mississippi Studios, you are garbage. I hope your establishment burns to the ground. Thanks for nothing.

I had huge expectations to this gig at Betong and they certainly fulfilled those. It was the final show of Hoestsabbat doom festival and what a grand final! They played all 4 songs from their latest album Clearing The Path to Ascend + a couple of extras. The show lasted 1 h 40 min. The final encore was Kosmos. Words are hard to find trying to describe this performance. It was just awesome! I felt so happy and had goosebumps all over me.

These guys are absolutely the best live band you will ever see. If you're in doubt about seeing them at all. Go. I saw them in Pittsburgh with Bell Witch. Both bands were surprisingly good but YOB moved me to tears that night and immediately became my favorite band, just a beautiful time that I'll never forget

Heavy as hell, great ensemble bringing fat riffs and deep breakdowns. Great energy and connection between the trio. Amazing vocals, songs that are a long satisfying trip. Now I respect them even more after the priviledge of watching them live. One of the greatest in this doom/stoner community!!!

Yob always puts on killer shows; they're always heavy as fuck. Yes they're doom metal, but in a mesmerizingly unique yet cohesive way, they're also partly energetic. Mike is the man. Their bass tone is amazing. And their drums will make your soul vibrate.

What a great show, missed Chrch but caught Acid King which was a headbangers delight. YOB was great opened with some of their new material but mixed it up with some of their older work. Great show.
