DER TRAVEL AGENCY BECOMES DERTOUR TRAVEL AGENCY

DER Touristik is taking the next step in its leading brand strategy: At the turn of the year, DERTOUR travel agency will replace the previous brand DER Deutsches travel agency.

“The continuation of our travel agencies under the name DERTOUR is the next logical step for a uniform brand presentation at all contact points, towards an integrated tourism brand,” emphasizes Ingo Burmester, CEO DER Touristik Central Europe. The travel agency chain benefits from the awareness and positive perception of the DERTOUR brand. Burmester is convinced that “strong brands create trust”. “Through joint campaigns and joint marketing, we can make optimal use of synergies and thus offer our customers important guidance.”

Under the leading brand DERTOUR, all levels of the value chain of DER Touristik are bundled under one roof – from the advisory competence and service quality of our own travel agencies to the tour operator brands and destination agencies to our own hotels. “Our new brand signals to the outside world that we are even stronger as part of this network – which gives our customers even more security,” continues DERTOUR travel agency managing director Andreas Heimann.

The conversion of the more than 400 branches across Germany has been underway since mid-November and is expected to be completed by the end of January 2022. Among other things, the offices are getting new window and facade designs, posters, advertising material and new business stationery. The official changeover date is 01/01/2022. In future, the offices can be found online at www.dertour-reisebüro.de .

The service standards, the quality of advice and the variety of offers will not change: The DERTOUR travel agencies will remain full-range providers and will continue to provide customers with the right travel offer from all of the more than 100 brands that have been offered so far. Through cooperation and partnerships with specialists such as Aldiana, AIDA Cruises, A-ROSA River Cruises, Chameleon and ASI Reisen, DERTOUR has closed white spots in the range in recent months and thus further rounded off the extensive range. The approximately 1,800 travel experts at DERTOUR travel agencies will remain permanent contacts for their customers at their usual location, even under a new name.

Wont be booking with this company ever again

Booking number from Slovakia: 190696658 Booked holiday of lifetime for myself, husband and 2 yea old son, to only experience the worst management of what the call emergency situation. Been treated without any human touch minute we arrived at airport, where we were informed flight is not going ahead, and been put into bus to travel 5 hours to another airport with no food etc offered, to arrived to plane and been mistreated by the crew, just took all the join and excitement of holiday we work so hard for and looked forward to. I could put so much detail in here, just it will be the longest review in history. NOT NICE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH - SLOVAK BRANCH. BE AWARE!!!!! Will never book trip with them again

Never again. Unfair marketing.

I had booked my 4th stay in the same hotel, this time unfortunately via DerTour. DerTour had described in the offer room of another category vs what they had provided in the booking code. Local representative, contacted by the Hotel was very rude, he told me that I haven’t booked anything directly from him and offered me nothing but to pay for the room upgrade to get the room as described in the offer. Hotel charged me 80 Euro per night, 800 Euro in total on top of what had originally paid. I’m the booking confirmation there is no room description, just a code that tells nothing for normal people. Also company doesn’t provide any contact details and do not respond via phone provided by aggregator platform (Check24). On other three occasions, booked via other tour operators I got the room exactly as described without any problems. P.S. Dear DerTour representative. I had submitted my complaint via the booking agency immediately. There was no any response on my complaint by the time I wrote my post here. One month later, still nobody had reached out to me via formal channels on this matter

Thieves, thieves,

Thieves, thieves, thieves! I had made a reservation for an Austrian hotel on Penny-rejsen.de and I had cancelled the reservation within 24 hours prior arriving due the COVID-19 situation. Somehow, Penny-rejesen.de gave to Detour.de all my bank account details and Detour took from my bank account an amount of 980 Euro amount without my authorization and no clear explanation. We reported the company to the local authority and now will get them to court for false pertences. We have never booked into the hotel, the hotel sale the room and they kept the money for themselves. Answer: who should I contact when you don't provide any contact ???

Warning for everbody before Dertour…

Warning for everbody before Dertour agency! We do not recommend buying a trip through these travel agency. One week before the departure for the holiday in Madeira - they sent us a notice of the canceled return flight, the day before the departure - the cancellation and two months after the missed holiday, they still did not return the money to us, nor do they communicate. We will resolve the issue through legal means. Be careful.

Very bad service

Very bad service. We booked an accomodation, got confirmed that everything was okay and 10mins later the accomodation wasn't free anymore. We called several times and they assured us that we could still book for an additional price of 25 euros per person. A lot of calls later everything was okay, but again they cancelled it some minutes later. Very bad service and you can't trust them. Don't use this site.

Olympic tickets cancellation

I booked tickets for Tokyo 2020 Olympics. When international spectators were banned, DerTour were one of the first Olympic ticket resellers (ATRs) to get in touch and offer a refund. The process was simple and the money landed in my account just a week-or-two later. With others I am facing a wait of many months. I sympathise with everybody else who has a negative experience with DerTour, but I am thankful for their communication and speedy refund process. It would have been even better had the handling fee been refunded too, but at least I have had something resembling customer service from them, unlike many ATRs in other countries.

Booked a travel to Mallorca to 2500euro and suddenly they changed it t 4200euro. We have everything on writing, and they said it was a system failure. But they only gave us 2 options, accept the new price or cancel. This is under al critique.

Since the airport is very spacious, you should make sure that you get to the waiting area for your flight in good time. The boarding time and gate are noted on your boarding pass.

Pogačar beats Van der Poel in a dominant win at Liège–Bastogne–Liège classic

LIEGE, Belgium (AP) — Tadej Pogačar proved too strong for Mathieu Van der Poel as he won the Liège–Bastogne–Liège cycling classic with a solo breakaway on Sunday.

Pogačar attacked 35 kilometers (22 miles) out to win cycling’s oldest classic for the second time, after victory in 2021, and made up for last year when he broke his left wrist in a crash.

“I’m happy that I can finally win this race again,” the 25-year-old Slovenian said. “It’s beautiful to finish like this.”

The two-time Tour de France champion waved to the crowd as he approached the finish line well clear. French veteran Romain Bardet finished second and Van der Poel led a mass sprint to the line to finish third.

Liège–Bastogne–Liège is one of the five “monuments” in one-day cycling with the Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, the Tour of Lombardy and Milan-San Remo. Van der Poel won Roubaix two weeks ago but has not won Liège and Lombardy.

Pogačar beat Van der Poel last year to win the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders) and they have won six monuments each.

The 254.5-kilometer (157.8-mile) trek, starting and finishing in the eastern Belgian city of Liège in chilly conditions, featured 11 small hills and played to Pogačar’s elite climbing skills. He pulled ahead in a small group with Van der Poel one minute behind.

Van der Poel’s group caught Pogačar with 70 kilometers remaining to form a main peloton. But with Pogačar’s UAE Team Emirates setting a fast tempo at the front, Pogačar attacked again and no rival could catch him.

He clocked 6 hours, 13 minutes, 48 seconds with Bardet 1:39 behind and Van der Poel 2:02 back.

Multistars kicks off combined events tour gold.

Taliyah Brooks defends her heptathlon title, while Thomas Van der Plaetsen heads the decathlon field at Multistars – the first World Athletics Combined Events Tour Gold event of 2024 – this weekend (27-28).

Nine decathletes with 8000-point-plus PBs and nine heptathletes who have surpassed 6200 points are entered for the event, which returns to Brescia – host of the first seven editions from 1988 to 1994 – for the first time in 30 years.

USA’s Brooks set a PB of 6330 points to win the heptathlon in Desenzano del Garda last year and she went on to finish second at the USA Championships with a score just 11 points off that mark, but her campaign at the World Championships in Budapest came to an early end when she recorded three fouls in the long jump. She rebounded at the Decastar in Talence in September, finishing third on 6181, and has already shown PB form in 2024 as she clocked 7.97 for 60m hurdles in February.

One athlete sits above Brooks on the entry list when it comes to personal bests: Austria’s Ivona Dadic. The 2018 world indoor pentathlon silver medallist, who set her best of 6552 in 2018, makes a heptathlon comeback in Brescia as she missed the whole of 2023 following knee surgery. 

Dadic returned to action at the Swedish Indoor Combined Events Championships in January – her first competition since winning the Decastar with 6233 points in September 2022 – and finished second at the Austrian Indoor Combined Events Championships in February. Her aim in Brescia – as it is for a number of athletes in action – will be to qualify for the Olympic Games and European Championships.

China’s Asian Games champion Zheng Ninali, who won the pentathlon at the Asian Indoor Championships in February, is also among the entries, just over a week on from her 6164-point performance at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Britain’s Commonwealth bronze medallist Jade O’Dowda was second at Multistars last year and went on to set a PB of 6255 points at the Gotzis Hypomeeting a month later.

Ireland’s Kate O'Connor is also among the entries, as she prepares for her first competition since finishing 13th at the World Championships in Budapest.

Italy’s world indoor fourth-place finisher Sveva Gerevini is entered but may not compete due to a hamstring problem.

Making the step up to the senior event is Hungary’s 17-year-old Sarolta Kriszt, the 2022 European U18 silver medallist.

For Belgium’s Van der Plaetsen, Brescia offers a first decathlon since the Decastar, where he placed sixth, and the chance to make a mark ahead of this year's major competitions.

The 2014 world indoor heptathlon bronze medallist competed in Desenzano del Garda last year but withdrew with a niggle. He then finished fourth in Ratingen before securing sixth in Talence. His PB of 8430 was set in Gotzis in 2021.

His competition this time includes Czechia’s Adam Helcelet and Poland’s Pawel Wiesiolek, both of whom have also surpassed 8300 in their careers so far. More recently, Helcelet scored 8034 to finish second at the Wieslaw Czapiewski Memorial in Bydgoszcz in July, while Wiesiolek won the Polish indoor heptathlon title in February.

They will go up against Italian record-holder Dario Dester, who achieved that 8218-point record at the European Championships in Munich in 2022. The Multistars will be his first decathlon since then.

Also looking to make an impact will be Estonia’s European indoor heptathlon bronze medallist Risto Lillemets, Brazil’s South American champion Jose Fernando Ferreira Santana and Belgium’s Jente Hauttekeete, the world U20 heptathlon record-holder.

Lillemets was fifth at Decastar in September, while Ferreira Santana set his PB of 8058 last July.

Hauttekeete had a busy start to the year and he won the national indoor heptathlon title with 6131 in February before finishing eighth at the World Indoor Championships.

Like Kriszt, 19-year-old European U20 bronze medallist Andrin Huber steps up to senior competition in Brescia.

Paris-Roubaix incident follows earlier harassment at Tour of Flanders and other races.

Days after a police investigation was announced following incidents at the Tour of Flanders, Mathieu van der Poel faced further aggression from spectators at Paris-Roubaix .

The Dutchman was heading towards a solo victory on Sunday when a spectator appeared to throw a cycling cap towards his wheels. The incident happened with 42.2km remaining in the race and, fortunately, the object did not lodge in his spokes or his brakes.

Had they done so, it was possible that Van der Poel would have crashed.

Replays of the footage showed the person involved appeared to be an adult woman.

Riders’ association president Adam Hansen has said that the organisation will act on the matter.

According to HLN.be, Van der Poel also had beer thrown at him on the Carrefour de l’Arbre sector of the race.

Earlier this week Belgian police said they were investigating aggression from spectators at the Tour of Flanders. Van der Poel had what appears to be beer thrown at him on at least two occasions on the Oude Kwaremont climb.

“We’re definitely taking it seriously,” police chief Joost Duhamel said, according to Het Nieuwsblad . “As a beer thrower, you can think that it is not easy to be found in such a crowd. But still, we have multiple witnesses. People who have seen it happen and who do not like this behavior.

“We get videos, and we are actively looking for images of the perpetrators. A man from our team is now working on that full-time and there is already a result.”

It is likely that similar action will be taken after the Paris-Roubaix incident.

Van der Poel has endured several such incidents in recent months.

In December he was competing in the Hulst World Cup cyclocross race and was filmed spitting at spectators on the final lap.

He said afterwards that they had been booing him during the race, and that he had experienced similar behaviour beforehand.

However a social media user suggested he faced more than verbal abuse: “Those Belgian ‘fans’ were throwing urine and beer at him. I stood next to them,” @Niomachiavelli claimed.

Van der Poel retweeted that message.

Asked about the latest incident on Sunday, the race winner did not want to get drawn into details.

“Those people have some frustration, I think. I don’t want to care about it much, and not pay attention,” he said, according to HLN.be .
