The ceaseless volcanic activity is in the maintains the water temperature between 30°C and 35°C. The sulfuric, orange-tinged spring waters of the Palaia Kameni islet are said to have healing properties.

• Guests need to bring warm, dry clothes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a sunhat. • All yachts and boats in Greece cannot moor directly on the beach. The operator has selected the best points for swimming and snorkeling, the closest possible to the beach. • Hot Springs: It is good to know that catamarans and yachts stop 50 meters away from the warm sulfuric water of the Hot Springs Bay. The temperature in the Hot Springs area is up to 4°C warmer than the open water. Guests swim securely close to the volcano. Dark-colored swimwear is recommended. Passengers have to remove their shoes before embarkation. • Bring a photo of your passport or ID card. • Please provide the name of your hotel and your contact details. One day before the cruise, you receive the pick-up confirmation. • The duration of the tour is not the same throughout the season, especially on the sunset cruise. During June, the tour lasts longer (daylight is longer), while in October it lasts about 4 hours and 30 minutes. • Maximum Capacity of Vessels: 20 pax.

•For changes that will be made at least 24 hours prior to departure, there are no extra fees, but the new reservation is subject to availability. If there is no availability for the new date or tour, then a full refund will be applied

•For cancellations or changes less than 24 hours prior to departure, 100% of the total cost of the tour is charged as cancellation fees.

With the cruise we are going to visit the Kremlin and Armory Museums but not the Diamond Fund.

As we absolutely want to see the Diamond Fund, what will be the best way as we will be in high season in July. I have read many posts on the subject and I just want to confirm the best way

I am thinking of bying the Armory Tickets online for the first session starting at 10:00am and then entering the Armory Museum and buying inside at the entrance of the Diamond Fund, the tickets for the Diamond Fund with audioguide.

1) do we need to exchange our online tickets (or vouchers)for the Armory for an actual ticket (where)(which booth?) and how ?)

2) will it be too late for the Diamond Fund ? as I understand that tickets sell out very quickly and we will not be able to enter the Armory before 10:00am?

3) is it better to buy both tickets (Armory and Diamond Fund) on the same day at the booth # 4 or

Yes. In the ticket office in the Alexander Garden. You don't need to memorize booth numbers as it's pretty well marked once you're there.

Difficult to say. As the tickets are not sold in advance I think you have a chance in the morning when the ticket office opens at 9am.

I don't think so. Visiting the Diamond Fund is USUALLY combined with the Armoury simply because it's convenient but I can find no rule stating that you HAVE to have an Armory ticket to visit the Diamond Fund.

In any case, come to the ticket office early and buy your Diamond Fund tickets. If it turns out you also need Armoury tickets they will tell you so but I'll be very much surprised if that is the case.

PS I just went to the Diamond Fund web site which used to be a pathetic stub and was surprised to discover they now have a half-decent web site and you can even book tickets online but only if you are Russian citizen so far...

The Kremlin used to be a fortress, then the residence of the Russian Tsars. After the Revolution of 1917 the USSR Government moved there. Now it is the residence of the Russian President and a unique cultural museum complex that consists of palaces, cathedrals and museums. You will tour the grounds of the Kremlin and visit its strikingly beautiful cathedrals full of ancient frescoes and icons:

Assumption Cathedral where Russian tsars and emperors were crowned;
Archangel Cathedral - the burial vault of the Russian tsars until 18th centuries;
and Annunciation Cathedral , a home church for the royalty.

You will get to meet the 2 prominent Russian Tsars in person: the Tsar Bell and Tsar Cannon , the biggest in the world. Kremlin will surely reveal you some mysteries of the Russian state and soul.

Now move further to the Diamond Fund of Kremlin to deepen your knowledge of Russian history, whilst exploring the Diamond Fund: a unique collection of Russian jewellers of the 18-20th centuries. The exhibition includes items of gold and platinum, a collection of precious stones and other historical treasuries, Tsars' regalia, the crown of the Russian Empire, Russian and foreign medals, huge gold and platinum bars, giant diamonds and numerous pieces of fine jewellery. The collection was founded by Peter I, who was of the opinion that the most significant precious items should belong to the state, not to the Tsar's family. Originally, the jewels were kept in the Winter Palace and during World War I and were later carried over to the Kremlin. The permanent exhibition in the Kremlin was opened in 1967.

In two quiet and small rooms with velvet carpets the following will open to you in all their splendor:

The Great Imperial Crown adorned with 5 000 diamonds of different size and made in the 18th century for the coronation of Catherine the Great.
Seven “Historic Stones” , among which:

- Orlov Diamond, a nearly 190-carat completely transparent and pure stone that decorates the Imperial gold scepter. - Shah Diamond, in ancient times known as the Prince’s Stone. This nearly 90-carat perfectly pure crystal can tell its own story thanks to the Arabic inscriptions graved on it. - Table Portrait Diamond, the largest existing flat stone of 25 carat in the world. Cut in India, it now adorns a massive golden bracelet with the image of an Emperor. - Ceylonese Sapphire, a magnificent 260-carat deep-blue stone, decorating a 19th-century brooch.

18th and 19th century absolutely stunning decorative jewelry , including diamond, sapphire and ruby brooches, bracelets, earrings and diadems as well as a collection of the 20th century jewelry made specifically for the Russian Diamond Fund by the order of the Soviet government.
Collection of Platinum and Gold nuggets , many of which have a name. An attentive visitor can easily find Camel, Boot, Horse Head and Mephisto nuggets and the Big Triangle – the biggest gold nugget of 36 kg found in Russia.

Moskva river has the form of a snake and is the main waterway of Moscow, consisting of a cascade of reservoirs. Within the city, Moskva river is 80 km long, 120 m - 200 m wide and up to 14 m deep. The narrowest part of the river is the Kremlin area in the city center, and the most extensive is around the Luzhniki Stadium in the south.

Bridges in Moscow

Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge – Great Stone Bridge – is the main bridge of Moscow . The first stone bridge was constructed here in the 17th century.
Patriarshy Bridge is one of the youngest pedestrian bridges, built in 2004. The bridge connects the iconic Christ the Saviour Cathedral with funky Bersenevskaya embankment, extremely popular place among locals for its trendy art galleries, cafes and panoramic views. Patriarshy Bridge used to be a shooting location for ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's New Year speech to the nation.
Borodinsky Bridge, erected in honor of the 100th anniversary of the glorious victory in the Battle of Borodino (which every Russian kid knows about), a fierce legendary battle during the Russo-French war of 1812.
Bagration Bridge one of the pedestrian bridges with most picturesque views of the Moskva River with its numerous upper-level observation platforms. The bridge was erected to celebrate the 850th anniversary of Moscow city in 1997.
Krymsky Bridge used to be in Top 5 Europe’s longest bridges some 100 years ago. The bridge got its name after the ancient Krymsky ford which Crimean Tartars used to invade Moscow in the 16 th century.

Embankments of Moscow

Moscow river boats 37 embankments, the most popular being Kremlevskaya, Sofiyskaya, Pushkinskaya, Vorobyovskaya and Kolomenskaya.

You can get the most spectacular views of the Kremlin from Kremlevskaya and Sofiyskaya embankments.

Pushkinkaya embankment is the most romantic in Moscow. It meanders along Gorky Park and Neskuchnyi garden and is rich for all kinds of entertainment as well as cozy nooks, including Olivkovy beach, the famous Zeleny theater as well as a pier for river cruisers.
Vorobyevskaya embankment is part of Sparrow Hills nature reserve. This place opens a beautiful panorama of the river and city from the observation deck and is considered to be the place for taking serious decisions in life.

Different epochs

Taking a walk along the Moskva River by boat, you will witness the architecture of Moscow from different eras and styles. Archaeological studies indicate that already in the XI century there stood a fortified settlement on Borovitsky hill, which is now called the Kremlin. Little fortress could not accommodate all the residents of the rapidly growing city, and the Grand Duke ordered the construction of a new Kremlin, larger than the former.

Boat trip around Kolomenskoe Park

Moscow river boat trip starts from the pier Klenovy (Maple) Boulevard and provides reat views of Nicholas Perervinsky monastery.

Nicholas Perervinsky monastery was founded at the time of the Battle of Kulikov (1380). The monastery, got its name from the surrounding area – “Pererva”, which can be translated like “tear off” and because of the location – here it abruptly changed its course, turning to Kolomna, standing on the opposite bank.

Nowadays Kolomenskoye is State Art, Historical, Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve, which doors are open to everyone who wants to get in touch with the ancient history of Russia.

Monasteries and temples

Novospassky Monastery
Founded in the 13th century on the site where now is located the Danilovsky monastery. After a few decades, in 1330, Ivan Kalita moved the monastery onto the Borovitskii hill of the Kremlin. However, in the 15th century, Spassky Monastery again moved, this time to a more spacious place on Krasnoholmskaya waterfront.
Church of St. Nicholas in Zayaitskom
Erected in the middle of the XVIII century in baroque style. The building survived after the 1812 fire, but the utensils were destoyed. Parishioners collected donations and restored the temple on their own. In Soviet times, it was closed and re-opened only in 1992.
Cathedral of Christ the Savior
The church was originally erected in honor of the victory over Napoleon and was being under construction for long 44 years. Notoriously demolished in 1937 to be a giant swimming pool under open sky. The current building was constructed in 1990s. It is the tallest and one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world.
The temple was built in 1679-82, during the reign of Tsar Fedor Alekseevich, in late Muscovite Baroque style and can be characterized as bonfire temple. Each gable is a symbol of a heavenly fire.
Novodevichy Convent
The most famous concent and monastery in Moscow, presumably founded in 1524. Novodevichy’s status has always been high among other monasteries, it was in this monastery where the women of the royal blood, the wives of Tsars and local rulers of Moscow were kept in prison as nuns.
St. Andrew’s church (male acts as Compound Patriarch of Moscow)
St. Andrew’s church stands right on the slopes of the Sparrow Hills, on the way down to the Moskva River, on the territory of the Nature Reserve “Sparrow Hills”. The monastery is small in size but is very cozy. It’s situated in a quiet courtyard surrounded by temples, fruit trees and flowers.
