American Express GBT confirms Hogg Robinson acquisition

American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) today completed the acquisition of Hogg Robinson Group.

Integration work will now move ahead to drive the benefits of the acquisition which valued HRG at up to £410 million.

American Express GBT will seek to accelerate growth “by utilising the complementary footprints of each company and leveraging existing infrastructure and technology capabilities”.

The HRG brand will remain in place “as the integration process begins”.

The combined group is expected to offer clients and travellers a wider range of products and services, “bringing together the best of both businesses including technology, people and a comprehensive geographic footprint”.

Joanna Macleod, American Express GBT traveller care executive vice president, has been appointed chief transformation officer while William Brindle, HRG’s chief operating officer, has been appointed chief operating officer for American Express GBT.

American Express GBT chief executive Doug Anderson said: “The combination of American Express GBT and HRG will provide clients and travellers with an unrivalled offering.

“I look forward to integrating our companies and combining the vast experience and expertise of both. We’re proud to deliver enhanced value to all stakeholders.”

American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has successfully completed the acquisition of Hogg Robinson Group plc (HRG), a global B2B services company specializing in travel management.

The combined group is expected to offer clients and travellers a wider range of products and services, bringing together the best of both businesses including technology, people and a comprehensive geographic footprint.
