About Jason Aldean:

The 3X ACM Entertainer of the Year and ACM Artist of the Decade has bolstered 27 No. 1 hits, 15 billion streams and more than 20 million albums sold as “he has blended his own recipe, and it’s one that has vaulted him to the pinnacle of Country music success”  (Atlanta Journal Constitution ). Notably, seven of Aldean’s previous studio albums have been certified PLATINUM or more, and he has the most Top 10 songs on  Billboard ‘s Hot Country Songs chart, more than any other artists, since making his chart debut in 2005. Having just released his monster double album  MACON, GEORGIA  to critical acclaim with  Stereogum  naming it an “Album of the Week” and the  Tennessean  praising that “ MACON, GEORGIA  finds Aldean honed in on his vision for this era of his career” and “kicks off his career’s next era.” Together with longtime producer Michael Knox, Aldean took an anything-goes approach to his signature sound with part all-new music and part career retrospective as the “different and all-encompassing”  (Entertainment Tonight)  tracks “allow him the opportunity to revisit his past”  (E! News) . The project’s full release follows the wild success of Aldean’s history-making, multi-week 26th No. 1 “powerful duet”  (Rolling Stone ) ”If I Didn’t Love You” with Carrie Underwood that won him the coveted ACM Single of the Year, iHeartRadio Country Song of the Year, CMT Collaborative Video of the Year and earned him  Billboard  and GRAMMY nominations. “His Country superstar status”  (Variety)  continues to transcend with critics and fans alike as the new music makes its own mark for his hometown.

About Mitchell Tenpenny

Since the beginning of his career, Mitchell Tenpenny has worked tirelessly to build and support his fan base with a steady stream of new music. He increased the flow of new music during the pandemic and his fans have responded by soaring his career on-demand stream and he was recently recognized for surpassing the One Billion streams threshold, currently 1.5 Billion; his first triple-platinum plaque for break-out debut single “Drunk Me”; a Gold plaque for his debut album Telling All My Secrets and a new platinum plaque for his #1 hit “Truth About You.” Mitchell is a multi-faceted entertainer: singer, songwriter, producer and performer. Since the release of his debut single, “Drunk Me,” Mitchell has set new standards for breakout success in country music. The 3X Platinum-certified, No. 1 hit that has amassed 618 million total on-demand streams in the US alone and is off his introductory album, Telling All My Secrets, and earned him the best first week showing for any major label country debut LP at the time of its release. Since that time, the “winning” singer (New York Times) has received nominations from the Academy of Country Music and the CMT Awards.

About Corey Kent:

Corey Kent finds himself musically at the intersection of rock infused country, heartland values, and red dirt grit. Still in his 20’s, he built the foundation of a fanbase, has been developing his show for 15 years, and is now positioned as one of country music’s next breakout artists nationwide.  Drawing inspiration from The Eagles, Keith Richards, Turnpike Troubadours and more, Kent strives to build an undeniable stage presence and his bandana-wearing Rock ‘N’ Roll spirit comes to life on the stage.

Kent kicked off 2023 with the release of his autobiographical track “Man of the House” just after making his debut at the Grand Ole Opry where he performed his explosive RIAA certified platinum single, “Wild As Her.”  The free-spirited and high-energy track has garnered over 190 million on-demand streams, landed Kent his first-ever entry onto the Billboard Hot 100, reached #15 on the Hot Country Songs Chart and is currently inside the Top 20 at Country Radio. Kent also released two additional tracks in 2022, “Hood of That Car” and “How You Know You Made It” as well as his ’22 Tapes EP which was a collection of 4 songs that Kent wanted to share with his fans for their support all year long.  Kent was named as a CMT Listen Up Artist for 2023, a Pandora Artist to Watch and was recently nominated for an AIMP Nashville Country Awards for AIMP Rising Artist-Writer of the Year. A road warrior, Kent spent a large portion of 2022 on the road selling out venues across the country on his own headline dates, festivals and dates with Bailey Zimmerman.

Jason Aldean new music

Most recently, Aldean released his heartfelt, holiday “Christmas In Dixie” single in late 2022.

Before that though, the two-time Country Music Awards winner unleashed his double album “Macon” and “Georgia” to the world in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Want to catch up on Aldean’s latest records?

You can listen to “Macon” here ; “Georgia” can be heard here.

Jason Aldean opening acts

The Highway Desperado is bringing a few friends along with him on the summer tour.

Here’s what you need to know about each of Aldean’s special guests.

Mitchell Tenpenny , 33, is a Nashville-based country singer-songwriter known for his anthem “Drunk Me.” In 2022, Tenpenny dropped the 20-track record “This Is The Heavy” which blends pop, country and rock effortlessly.

Corey Kent exploded onto the music scene in 2015 when he competed on NBC’s “The Voice.” Since then, Kent has become a successful artist in his own right having released two popular albums that spawned mega singles like “Ain’t My Day” and “Gold.”

Dee Jay Silver was the first ever DJ signed to a Nashville record label. His unique sound mashes and blends hip-hop, rock, house and country to create a unique sonic experience unlike anything you’ve ever heard. We recommend starting with his party-starting, genre-defying “Dixieland Delight” featuring Nappy Roots.

Chase Matthew: The Journey From Cruising Jason Aldean's Bar In A Truck Bed To Touring With His Hero

jason aldean tour who is with him

Chase Matthew 's life has played out in scenes as if he were starring in an after-school special about perseverance, chasing dreams and redemption.

A Nashville-area native, Matthew grew up in a family of preachers who would have been thrilled had he fallen in line behind them. But he made poor choices as a teen. His situation got dire when Matthew's best friend was murdered. He dropped out of school, dabbled in rap music, developed a drug problem and was homeless by the time he was 19 years old.

About eight years later, Matthew has accumulated 930 million streams, is signed to a major label record deal at Warner Music Nashville, was named "One to Watch" by HITS, is a member of MusicRow's Next Big Thing Class of 2024 and is part of Opry Nextstage Class of 2024. He released his sophomore album, the 25-song strong "Come Get Your Memory" in 2023. The collection is home to his current Top 20 single "Love You Again," and Matthew recently released his new six-song EP "We All Grow Up." He just extended his headlining tour and is about to play shows with Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan.

"Because of my background, I just can't even believe I'm getting these opportunities," Matthew says.

It's a big jump for the 26 year old who remembers wearing a stuffed panda head as a teenager, climbing in a truck bed and cruising Lower Broadway directly in front of the buildings that now house Aldean's bar and restaurant and Bryan's 32 Bridge.

"It was one of the big heads like you'd see Chuck E. Cheese," he recalls, laughing. "We were riding down Broadway, and I was vibing in a panda head. Everyone was pointing and taking pictures of me as a panda. It was so funny!

Matthew and his friends weren't old enough to get into bars so he says  they wanted to "raise Hell in our straight pipe trucks."

"It was fun, for sure," he says. "Now we're on signs in front of those buildings. It's kinda crazy."

Last week, he drove by to take pictures of his name on the sign in front of Aldean's bar.

Aldean's Highway Desperado Tour launches in May with Matthew as support along with Lauren Alaina, Hailey Whitters, Austin Snell and DJ Silver. Matthew calls the tour opportunity "a dream come true."

It's a far cry from the truck bed – or the young 20-something in jeans and a t-shirt who ambled into ONErpm in 2021 with his independent record label heads from Holler Boy Records to solidify a collaborative business deal. Matthew had 65,000 followers on social media, about 4 million streams and far less than 1 million views on YouTube. Independent country artist Ryan Upchurch fronted Holler Boy Records, and Upchurch swaggered to the couch boasting about his fast cars and exploits with women. When Upchurch's stories wound down, the men posed for a contract signing photo, and Matthew's six-song EP, "County Line," came out later that month.

One year later, "County Line" became Matthew's first gold record. His partnership with Warner Music Nashville was announced a few weeks later. By that time, the singer had collected 360 million streams.

"Chase's mix of rebellion and reverence is what drew us to him," Cris Lacy, co-president of Warner Music Nashville, said at the time. "The impact he has on his mass of loyal fans comes from music and messages that are unapologetically redemptive and put him squarely in the center of this format's most authentic storytellers."

Matthew co-wrote four of the six songs on his "We All Grow Up" and 18 of the 25 songs on "Come Get Your Memory."

When he bought his first house, Matthew was inspired to write "We All Grow Up." He wanted to put a studio in the home immediately and quickly started renovations. He says it is "an old house built in the '90s" and explains that it even had carpet in the bathrooms. He left the carpet intact to focus on the music studio, and as soon as his creative space was half finished, Matthew co-wrote "We All Grow Up."

"It talks about how some of us went left, some of us went right, some of us went north and some of us definitely went south," he says. "Life is what you make of it. And I believe that what you take, the things you do growing up, you take with you, and it makes you who you are today. That's what that song's about."

Matthew co-wrote "Dirt Road Does" with Brock Berryhill, Jaxson Free, Dylan Marlowe and Taylor Phillips. They were supposed to write a different song that day, but Phillips called and shared the idea. The men pounced on it immediately.

"I was like, 'Oh my God, we got to write it right now,'" Matthew says. "He pulls up, and in 20 minutes, we wrote the whole song."

Matthew even thinks Aldean had it on hold for a while but admits he "might be wrong about that."

He wrote "Makin' You Miss Me" with Alex Maxwell on Matthew's tour bus and penned "Darlin'" with Maxwell, Hunter Huff and Ciaran Wilkie when they were in a casino in the Midwest.

He co-penned his current Top 20 hit, "Love You Again," with Phillips and Casey Brown. Matthew describes the song as "provocative" and explains that it "talks about something we've all done." But he doesn't want to say the three-letter s word.

"My mama wouldn't like me to do that," he says.

Regardless, he believes it "feels like an anthem.

"The fans are definitely finding their favorite lines in the song to just sing as loud as they can," he says.  "Everybody leaves remembering that song. It's definitely a party."

Matthew is the man who never forgets a name and is always quick with a hug and a thank you. He has an easy, wide smile and the determination of a young person who hopes he has already lived the hardest days of his life. Before this tour, he always told people Aldean was his dream collaboration. He says that to get the call that he was going to tour with Aldean was more than he could process.

"You find yourself in a daze sometimes in your day-to-day life," Matthew says. "And then you have to snap out and look around and realize what you're doing, where you're at. I'm in a daze all the time ever since, and it feels like a dream. It's definitely a good feeling, and the closer we get to it, the more the butterflies start churning up in my stomach."

Jason Aldine Williams (born February 28th, 1977), better known by his stage name, Jason Aldean, is an American country musician from Macon, Georgia, who’s been making music since 2005.

The trajectory of Aldean’s career to date serves as a sharp example of the old adage that good things come to those who wait, although you could certainly forgive him for wishing that things had panned out a little more simply for him. He seemed to have the world at his feet in 1998; at the age of twenty-one, he signed a record deal with Warner-Chappell. He was subsequently, and repeatedly, dropped, and spent some years struggling to get his music career - something which had once looked like a dead-cert - off the ground. It meant that he didn’t manage to get his self-titled debut record out into the world until 2005, although it brought the success that his talent had always promised; “Why” became his first number one single on the U.S. Country charts, and the album itself would eventually go platinum in his homeland, too.

Since then, he’s released a further three platinum albums and another, November 2010’s “My Kinda Party”, that was certified triple-platinum. He’s a bona fide country titan now, with a slew of Grammy nominations and another Billboard number one position for his latest album, October 2010’s Old Boots, New Dirt, proof of his national stardom.

Live reviews

The concert was a 16th birthday present for my daughter. She has been listening to country music for only a year or so and none of her close friends share her interests in it. She didn't know that our seats were on the field and her face when we stopped and picked up the field wristband was priceless! What a great beginning for the night. I know that more than one song of Jason's has helped her through a few things over the past few months. It all started while she was reading a book a while back that had the words to Jason's song She's Country in it. It not only touched the heroine's heart but my daughter's too. Not yet a Jason fan, she decided to find out what other songs were his. The rest is history. The concert was truly a wonderful experience - from Tyler Farr, Florida Georgia Line and then.....JASON ALDEAN!! The fireworks that started the show and visuals throughout were great. A surprise duet with Kelly Clarkson (on video), great selection of songs; even a new song too. Loved his interaction with the lady and the t shirt during 1994. It was a great night with my daughter. We were sorry to see it end. Fortunately, Jason was gracious enough to do one encore. How about the encore??!!! We couldn't believe the incredible song choice - She's Country with a sky full of fireworks!!!!! It just doesn't get any better than that!!! Thanks Jason for stopping in Philly.

Any country fan is encouraged to see the charismatic Jason Aldean perform live to see an artist who adds real show to his country sound. Supported by a tight backing band who Alden continuously interacts, jams and thanks throughout the show, the Tennessee singer/songwriter is confident onstage to say the least.

The guitar string intro of 'Hicktown' receives massive cheers from the crowd as Jason launches into a barrage of hit singles in such quick succession that the first ten minutes of the show are one massive barn-storming blur. His last two albums have hit the top spot on the US Billboard chart so a percentage of his audience are made of new supporters and Jason caters to them with huge renditions of 'Night Train' and 'Take A Little Ride'.

Whilst he accommodates his older, loyal fans with the likes of 'Amarillo Sky' and 'Johnny Cash'. Either way, all the crowd seem to enjoy every song by the sound of applause throughout. 'She's Country', his usual set closer evokes massive roars of appreciation from the audience and spurs Aldean on further as his whole band before this massive country toe tapping swan song.

My husband my son and I went to Lakewood in Atlanta to see Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia line and Tyler Farr. The tickets were reserve pit. My 10 year old son got to high five Jason. It was an amazing and unforgettable night. The tickets were about $100 per person but to us was worth every dime. We took a lot of great pics. The staff at Lakewood were very helpful and nice. Jason Aldean is an awesome performer. He played all our favorite songs. He rocked the ATL. By far my favorite concert EVER! I hope I get to see him live again. The sound was great and Jason sounded perfect. I'm glad he picked Florida Georgia line to tour with him. I think it is a perfect combination. They even rocked out together at the end in an awesome jam session. If you get a chance, go see Jason!

This show was way beyond packed. I didn't know it could get that full at the sleep train. We had to park about a mile out and walk just to catch the very end of Thomas Rhett which was super lame. Wish we could have seen all of us his show. Also jason aldean put on a great show much better than super graphicy one last year - but the encore was really weird and really wanted to hear Texas was You but nope a few too many new boring songs. Jason Aldean and this tour is clearly the king of country right now.

AWSOME!!!! Fire works good music totally legit concert I would advise if you are a Jason aldean fan go see him live its even better sounds exactly how he does on the radio. He also performed all of his hits down to his earliest number ones and hits. light show "shes country"and "crazy town" had the most effects during the show flame throwers as well. Too much to tell. If you love Jason aldean you have to go see him live he will not let you down just awesome.

Kane Brown was amazing and Jason Aldean rocked the house. Montage Mountain is still a disaster to get to. Must be run by the 3 Stooges. Took an hour to get up the hill, missed half the concert. You would think k after all these years somebody competent could figure out traffic slow. Never going back to that venue. How many years of constant complaints about traffic and parking before somebody cares Montage ?

What a fantastic show! 10/10, absolutely amazing. I will remember last night for a long time, as I had a blast and sung my heart out with Jason Aldean and his headliners a Thousand Horses and Thomas Rhett. The stage setup and lighting was phenomenal, and really added to the great experience of the show.

Absolutely amazing! I even brought a friend with me who doesn't even listen to country and she had a blast! She now loves Aldean just as much as me. She even made me stop at the store on the way home so she could buy all his albums they had! I got her hooked and I'm proud. :)

The concert was incredible! The only bad part was the amount of time it took toget into the concert and the amount of time it took to get out of the parking lot. Other than those two issues, the concert was great.

Jason Aldean Reveals How He Balances Time With His Children and Touring

jason aldean tour who is with him

Jason Aldean will embark on his Rock N’ Roll Cowboy Tour in July, but he is leaving the decision of whether or not his two youngest children, Memphis and Navy, join him on the road up to his wife, Brittany. The Georgia native reveals that Brittany is the one who ultimately decides if his son and daughter spend time with him on tour, or stay home instead.

“I kind of leave that up to my wife,” Aldean tells Music Mayhem . “A lot of times, the way we do it is one week I’ll go out by myself, and she’ll stay home with the kids. The next weekend she’ll come out with me, just me and her, and then the third weekend, they’ll all come out.”

Aldean is also a proud dad to his two older daughters, 19-year-old Keeley and 14-year-old daughter Kendyl, from his first marriage, who also sometimes join their famous father on the road. But for Memphis, who is four, and three-year-old Navy, the time on the road can be grueling.

“The two young ones, they tend to get a little bored on the bus after a couple of days, so we try not to have them out there and wear them out on the bus,” Aldean acknowledges. “But I definitely like having them out at least once or twice a month, just so I don’t have to be away from them for that long. And also, they can kind of see some shows and all those kinds of things. It’s kind of hit or miss, but I leave that up to Brit.”

Whether or not Aldean’s kids join him on the road or not, he definitely won’t be alone. The Georgia native tours with a massive operation, employing plenty of people to make sure his tour is a success. His entourage on the road is proving to be a little more costly than normal, due to the rising gas prices.

“I think we’re carrying probably nine or ten buses, and probably 12 or 15 trucks (semis),” Aldean says. “That’s a lot. That’s a big difference, and it’s really probably a lot more unfortunate for newer acts that are out there and trying to really break in the game a little bit.”

Aldean will be joined on his Rock N’ Roll Cowboy Tour by Gabby Barrett , John Morgan and Dee Jay Silver. Find tour dates at  JasonAldean.com .

Jason Aldean’s wife: Brittany Aldean’s life and controversies

Brittany Kerr attends the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards on March 07, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Brittany Aldean, Jason Aldean’s wife of nine years, is known for having her husband’s back.

The influencer and former NBA dancer, 35, supported her husband, country singer Jason Aldean, after his 2023 song, “Try That In a Small Town,” sparked widespread controversy for its perceived condonement of racism and violence.

“Never apologize for speaking the truth,” she wrote in an Instagram post last summer, in an apparent reference to the backlash from the song.

Jason Aldean, 47, also thanked his wife for being his “shotgun angel” in an Instagram post celebrating their most recent anniversary in March.

Brittany and Jason Aldean have been together for more than a decade and share two children.

Read on to learn more about Brittany Aldean and why she has made headlines through the years.

Brittany Kerr

She was a contestant on ‘American Idol’

Aldean (then Brittany Kerr) auditioned for Season 11 of “American Idol” in 2012, when she was 24. She impressed the judges with her rendition of Joss Stone’s “Spoiled” and made it to the Hollywood round before being eliminated.

She opened up about being “extremely nervous” to sing in front of other people in a 2012 interview with The Charlotte Observer .

“I got a karaoke machine for my birthday, which was in June,” she said. “I had a cord to the microphone, and I would stick the speaker in the other room and sing in another room, so that I didn’t have to be in front of everybody who wanted to hear me sing. I was that shy about it.”

At that time, Aldean was also a dancer for Lady Cats, the dance team for the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats.  She married Jason Aldean in 2015

Brittany and Jason Aldean tied the knot in March 2015 in Mexico. She shared a throwback photo from their barefoot beach wedding in an Instagram post celebrating their anniversary last year.

“8 years married and forever to go❣️ Happy Anniversary, my love!!!!” she wrote in the caption.

Jason Aldean was previously married to his high school sweetheart, Jessica Ussery, from 2001 until they initiated divorce proceedings in 2013. Aldean and Ussery share two daughters, Keeley, 21, and Kendyl, 16.

In 2012, Jason and Brittany Aldean both publicly apologized after photos surfaced of them spending time together at a bar.

“The actions I portrayed recently were not a representation of my true character, but a lapse in judgment on my part,” Brittany said in a statement at the time, per People . “I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone that has been affected by this, including my friends & family.”

She shares two children with Jason Aldean

Brittany and Jason Aldean welcomed a son , Memphis Aldean Williams, in December 2017.

“Today was Memphis’ due date, but thankfully he came a week early so we get more time with him,” the new mom wrote on Instagram , sharing a photo of her husband and newborn. “You make life a trillion times better, little man!! We love you SO much.”

Brittany Kerr

The couple welcomed a second child , daughter Navy Rome, on Feb. 4, 2019.

“Today our family became complete as we welcomed our daughter Navy Rome to the world,” Jason Aldean wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of Navy. “Born on 2/4/19 weighing 7lbs 12oz and looking identical to her older brother. So excited to watch what life has in store for this little princess.”

She has launched multiple lifestyle brands

Aldean and her sister-in-law, Kasi Rosa Wicks, launched a clothing line called Brittany and Kasi, which featured t-shirts and other apparel printed with right-leaning messages, such as “Military Lives Matter,” “Unapologetically Conservative” and “The Unsilent Majority: Speaking Up to Protect Our Freedom.”

A portion of the proceeds from a Brittany and Kasi pop-up sale in November 2021 would be donated to the Special Forces Charitable Trust, Aldean wrote on Instagram .

She also launched a line of clip-in hair extensions, XO Britt Aldean, in early 2021. That venture ended in early 2023, according to Country Now .

Aldean is also a social media influencer with 2.5 million followers on Instagram.

She received backlash for her 2022 comments about her ‘tomboy phase’

Aldean sparked controversy with an August 2022 makeup video on Instagram.

“I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase,” she wrote in the caption. “I love this girly life.”

Jason Aldean responded to his wife’s post in the comments.

“Lmao!! Im glad they didn’t too, cause you and I wouldn’t have worked out,” he wrote, according to NBC News .

Her post drew criticism from some who read it as a criticism of gender-affirming care for minors. Country singer Cassadee Pope appeared to reference Brittany Aldean's post in an August 2022 tweet .

“You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging,” she wrote on Twitter, now X. “But instead here we are, hearing someone compare their ‘tomboy phase’ to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”

Country star Maren Morris weighed in with a reply to Pope’s tweet.

“It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie,” Morris wrote .

Aldean responded to both Pope and Morris directly in her Instagram story.

“The other day Memphis wanted to be a dinosaur and tomorrow Navy will want to be a cat,” she wrote . “They’re children. Some parents want to be accepted by society so badly, that they’re willing to make life-altering decisions for their children who aren’t old enough to fully comprehend the consequences of those actions.”

“Love is protecting your child until they are mature enough as an adult to make their own life decisions,” she added. “Thankful my parents allowed me to go through my tom boy phase without changing my gender.”

Brittany Aldean addressed the controversy a few days later in another Instagram post . She announced the release of a new Barbie-themed clothing line that would support an organization fighting “child exploitation and human trafficking.’

“Per usual, my words have been taken out of context over the last week,” she wrote in the caption, adding an eye roll emoji. “Instead of getting twisted about the twisting of my words, I’ve chosen to bring some good out of it.”

Following the fallout from Aldean’s viral post, Jason Aldean was dropped by his publicity firm of 17 years, The GreenRoom.

“We aren’t the best people for the gig anymore, but will always be big fans of his music — he is one of the greatest live entertainers in country music,” the PR firm’s co-owner, Tyne Parrish, told Billboard .

She came to Jason Aldean’s defense after the release of a controversial new song

Aldean supported her husband following the backlash from his controversial song , “Try That in a Small Town.”

The song, which came out in May 2023, polarized listeners. Critics said the song’s lyrics, as well as the images in the song’s music video, promoted racism, violence and vigilantism.

Some critics pointed to one set of lyrics in particular, in which Aldean sings about being given a gun by his grandfather.

“Got a gun that my grandad gave me / They say one day they’re going to round up,” the verse goes. “Well that s— might fly in the city, good luck.”

Aldean said in a statement that for him, the song was about "the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences."

He also denied that the song was "pro-lynching," calling that claim "not only meritless, but dangerous."

Amid the controversy, Brittany Aldean shared an Instagram photo of her and her husband in July 2023 with the caption, “Never apologize for speaking the truth.”

She also appeared to address the controversy in a July 20 Instagram post thanking her supporters.

“Man do we love y’all. 💛 Free thinkers, lions not sheep… thankful for the support, always!” she wrote in the caption.

Jason Aldean in Hershey: What they’re saying as the controversial singer hits Chocolatetown

Country music’s most controversial man, at least for the time being, is slated to hit the stage inside of Hersheypark Stadium Friday night.

That’s right, Jason Aldean, whose “Try That In A Small Town” music video has been labeled “pro-lynching” and called a racist ode to sundown towns, is slated to continue his Highway Desperado Tour in central Pa.

The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

  • Jason Aldean has a problem. Why fans who supported him last week are turning on him now
  • Jason Aldean cut Black Lives Matter protest scene from ‘Try That In A Small Town’ video. Here’s why
  • Toby Keith slammed for song that ‘literally talks about lynching’

Surprisingly, there were still hundreds of tickets available for sale in multiple sections of the stadium after midnight Friday with some going for as low as $27. And that is shocking because, as the debate has raged on about Aldean’s video and its imagery, the Hollywood Reporter said earlier in the week that streams of the video had risen a whopping 999%. Per the report, the song went from 987,000 streams prior to the controversy to 11.7 million after. It wasn’t just Aldean’s streams that saw a big rise, though. Sales of the song went from 1,000 in the prior week to 228,000 across the past week. And those numbers have undoubtedly risen in the days since they were first reported.

The controversy has clearly been a boon for Aldean. And, although some of the folks who jumped in line to support the song a week ago have seemingly turned on him on social media Wednesday after six seconds of Black Lives Matter protest footage was edited out of the video, there has been a push among those who have hung with him to sell out Friday’s show.

Will it happen? That remains to be seen. But there is plenty of chatter ahead on X — formerly Twitter — in the hours leading up to the show.

What are folks saying?

It seems pretty pro-Aldean with most of the talk coming from fans expressing excitement about seeing Aldean perform the controversial song.

  • Social media is trying to cancel Garth Brooks again and it has nothing to do with Bud Light
  • Did Garth Brooks really cancel Las Vegas residency following Bud Light controversy?
  • Garth Brooks keeps getting accused of being a serial killer on social media. Here’s why

“Absolutely love this song,” one person wrote. “Was a big fan before. Now, I’m an even bigger fan now and buying tickets to your show in Hershey, PA. Keep making great music and to Hell with the evil woke mob and cancel culture. They just boosted your popularity, not hurt it.”

“I know the likelihood of you seeing this is slim to none but please try to play ‘Try That In A Small Town’ in Hershey (Friday),” another person wrote. “I’d love to see it live!! Can’t wait for the concert! Been a fan since I saw you in ‘08!”

“(Jason Aldean) keep selling it out like you always do,” another person wrote. “Crank it up in Hershey brother! Play it louder!!”

Someone even suggested that, following Friday in Hershey, Aldean should be invited to perform the song by former president, Donald Trump, at his rally in Erie Saturday.

Not everyone was loving the song and looking forward to the stop, though.

“I like (Jason Aldean) and have tickets to his show in Hershey,” one person wrote. “I know he didn’t write it, but (Try That In A Small Town) is literally and awful song. It reads like it was written from a list on Chat GPT. It’s his right to speak his beliefs. I’m OK (with) that. Just give us something real.”

Others were not quite as kind and some were downright disturbing.

“F.U. Jason Aldean!!” someone posted. “Take the Hershey Highway to Hell. Hope your fans douse you with cold beer while you’re holding the electric guitar to bring you back to the good old days of Sparky’s revenge (smiley face emoji).”

Anyway, however anyone feels about the song, Aldean will almost assuredly be singing it. Again, the controversy has put him the headlines, and at his last concert late last week he sang it to the delight of the crowd.

“I love our country,” Aldean said at that show. “I want to see it restored to what it once was before all of this (expletive) started happening to us. I love my country, I love my family and I will do anything to protect that, I can tell you that right now.”

The crowd ate it up and broke into a “USA” chant.

Aldean went on to blame the backlash on “cancel culture.”

“You guys know how it is this day and age, cancel culture is a thing,” he said. “That’s something that if people don’t like what you say, they try and make sure that they can cancel you which means try and ruin your life, ruin everything.

“One thing I saw this week was a bunch of country music fans that can see through a lot of the (expletive),” he continued. “I saw country music fans rally like I’ve never seen country music fans rally before and it was pretty bad (expletive) to watch.

“The fans have spoken,” he added before going into playing the song.

Jason Kelce announced his official retirement from the NFL just last month -- but his wife, Kylie Kelce , has been planning for the emotional moment for years!

The proud wife, and life-long Philadelphia Eagles fan, took to her Instagram Story on Monday to share the impressive gift that she'd been planning for her husband since speculation about his possible retirement first started a few years back.

The milestone marker, crafted by wood artist Dana Theobald, features a wooden model of the Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Stadium, with a plaque dedicated to Jason, his uniform number -- No. 62, since he was drafted by the Eagles in 2011 --  his six First Team All-Pro honors, seven Pro Bowl honors and the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII victory in 2018.

In an unexpected bit of "keeping things in the family," Theobald's Instagram profile notes that she is "Building The Eras Tour one stadium at a time" -- a reference to her woodwork surrounding Taylor Swift's record-breaking tour. Swift is, of course, currently dating Jason's brother, Travis Kelce .

"I messaged @danatheo.designs TWO years ago!" Kylie shared in her Story -- revealing that the connection really was just a coincidence. "She came up with this beautiful, custom design and then waited for me to give the retirement green light and J's final list of accolades."

Jason and Kylie met on Tinder in 2014 and went on to tie the knot four years later. They now share daughters Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 1.

The pair celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary shortly after his retirement announcement, which featured a sweet shout-out to his wife and her years of support.

"I think it's no coincidence I have enjoyed my best years of my career with Kylie by my side. Every accolade I have ever received has come with her in my life," Jason said in his press conference at Lincoln Financial. "She has brought the best out of me through love, devotion, support, honesty, intelligence, and of course, a swift kick in the a** from time to time."

Those "swift kicks" may include Kylie's recent comments to  Today  show co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie about her wishes for her husband following his retirement following his grueling NFL career.

"He needs to get out of the house," joked Kylie, who plans to continue her work for the Eagles Autism Foundation following the big life change. "It's not that I need him to get out of the house, it's that he needs to get out of the house. I think that with three small children, I don't think golf is gonna cut it."

Jason Aldean & John Morgan

Alone in his house, surrounded by friends.

That’s the contradictory state presented in John Morgan’s first radio single, a collaboration with Jason Aldean titled “Friends Like That.” The two singers are pals at a professional level, for sure, since Morgan wrote three of Aldean’s recent hits and is signed to Aldean’s record label, Night Train, affiliated with BBR Music Group.

Mission accomplished — with a little help from some friends.

Morgan wrote “Friends Like That” during September 2020 – the height of the pandemic – at Cornman Music in Nashville, where songwriter Will Bundy (“Half Of Me,” “Brown Eyes Baby”) maintains an office. They were joined by Lydia Vaughan (“If I Didn’t Love You,” “Out Of That Truck”) and Brent Anderson (“Cab In A Solo,” “Lonely Tonight”), ostensibly a group of writers who’ve been interacting with each other in different combinations for several years.

The day started – as it did for so many Americans in that window of time – fairly directionless. No one had any ideas they were passionate about, so they chatted, puttered and brainstormed a bit until something caught their attention. That something was a mysterious-sounding guitar riff that sounded like it was leading somewhere. It was ideal for an intro, and interesting enough that Vaughan insisted they make it part of the melody later in the song. It became the basis for the pre-chorus, setting up the sound of the chorus, which they attacked before they even knew where they were going.

“A lot of times the pre-chorus is just a transitional piece to get from A to B,” Anderson says. “Having, to the best of my knowledge, started this song with that part is probably the reason that it stands out.”

His co-writers are convinced that Anderson spit out the “Friends Like That” title, though none of them know how they got there. It was apparent, however, that they were writing a breakup song, with the singer listening to his friends’ advice about pulling himself together and moving on. The song’s conversations, though, took place in front of a fire at home. The friends were music (Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings) and alcohol (Jack Daniel’s), and staying home with them spoke volumes.

Buoyed by “Willie,” “Jack” and “Waylon,” the singer addresses his ex in absentia with a dismissive payoff at the end of the chorus: “Who needs you when I got friends like that?”

As self-sufficient as the guy tries to sound at that point, he evinced a brooding outlook when the writers started filling in the blank spaces in the first verse. They established the setting with much of that opening stanza – it’s after sundown, with the ex’s keys on the table. When they reached that transitional pre-chorus, the lyrics refocused on his “friends,” changing the feel from lonely atmosphere to party central.

In verse two, the singer recalled the couple’s better days, reiterated that he no longer needed her, and – when the pre-chorus returned – boasted that he’s “got buds to get me through it.” It may take several listens to realize that while “buds” is short-hand for “buddies,” it might also simply be “buds.”

“It rides a nice line to me where it’s not like completely hidden,” Bundy says of the weed reference. “It’s sort of camouflaged in a cool way.”

The bridge gets ultra-cheery, with a call-and-answer component while the vices actually start talking to the protagonist, “telling me I don’t need you no more.” “It’s a great singalong moment,” Vaughan notes. “I just thought it was really catchy. I don’t know that it necessarily revealed anything new about the story that wasn’t already there, but we all just liked it.”

Bundy produced Morgan’s final vocal session at Ocean Way. Morgan didn’t need much direction – the song had been written to fit his voice – but he definitely paid attention when Bundy gave him notes. “It’s sort of like getting to drive a Mercedes when you record John’s vocal,” Bundy says. “The great thing about John is we’re also such good buddies that I can criticize him and be tough on him, and he takes that and runs with it. You know he’s going to improve on it.”

Morgan’s solo version of “Friends Like That” became his most played song, racking up 23 million streams on Spotify following its Sept. 30, 2022, release. Aldean thought they should take it to radio. He also suggested that maybe he should add his voice to it, providing a little extra promotional incentive for programmers to add it.

Originally, Aldean wanted to just sing the second verse. Ultimately, Morgan persuaded him to do more – including the call-and-answer part on the bridge and a background vamp in the closing moments. Aldean also makes subtle melodic changes, adding a blue note here or there that creates a little extra grit. “That’s what’s so badass about him,” Anderson says. “He’s done that since the beginning.”

In the end, “Friends Like That” will sink or swim on the lead voices, the breezy outlaw references and the self-deception that’s hiding just beneath the surface of the song’s relentless pulse. The freshly rejected guy in the song is a character everybody knows.

“There’s some bitterness in there, but also some sarcasm,” Morgan says. “Also, you know, [he’s] lying through his teeth.”

Jason Aldean Says He Got Donald Trump’s Approval Before Posting His Halloween Skit Last Year

No, Taylor Swift wasn't booted from Toby Keith tribute concert; that's satire | Fact check

The claim: Jason Aldean threw out 'woke' Taylor Swift from Toby Keith tribute concert

An April 18 Facebook post ( direct link , archive link ) shows images of musicians Jason Aldean and Taylor Swift.

"Jason Aldean Throws Woke Taylor Swift Out Of Toby Keith's Tribute Concert, 'Get Ya Woke Self Out,'" reads text below the image.

Many commenters appeared to believe the post was legitimate.

"Three cheers for Jason Aldean," reads one comment.

Another reads, "Jason Aldean is another True American great job!"

The post was shared more than 2,000 times in five days.

Our rating: Satire

The claim is from a Facebook account that labels itself as satire. There are no credible news reports about such an interaction occurring.

Tributes paid to Toby Keith at CMT Music Awards, no Swift-Aldean altercation

Country singer-songwriter Toby Keith died on Feb. 5 at 62 years old. Keith had been diagnosed with stomach cancer .

Several performers paid musical tribute to Keith by playing his songs at the 2024 CMT Music Awards, which was held April 7 in Austin, Texas. Sammy Hagar performed "I Love This Bar," Brooks & Dunn played "Should've Been a Cowboy" and Lainey Wilson performed "How Do You Like Me Now?!"

Aldean also performed at the awards show but played his own song, “Let Your Boys Be Country." There are no credible news reports that Aldean somehow removed Swift from that event, nor that either artist had planned a separate tribute.

Fact check : Build-A-Bear doesn't have Baphomet parties, stuffed toys. This claim is satire

Swift has attended the CMT Music Awards before , but she is not mentioned in multiple reports about this year's awards show, nor is she pictured in any photo galleries from the event.

The claim was posted by a satirical account called SpaceX Fanclub. The account's bio states, "We post SATIRE, nothing on this page is real." The post links to an April 10 article on the website Esspots that is also labeled as satire .

Aldean became a frequent subject of false claims following the 2023 release of his song "Try That In A Small Town," which many critics perceive to be supportive of lynching and gun violence. CMT pulled the song's music video off the air in response to the backlash, as USA TODAY previously reported .

USA TODAY has previously debunked many baseless claims about Swift, including that CMT banned her for life , that she wore an anti-Trump T-shirt and that she displayed a pro-Trump banner on the red carpet before the Grammy Awards .

The View hosts slam Jason Aldean's controversial, 'deplorable' new music video: 'You've gone too far'

"Just like you talk about people taking care of each other in small towns, we do the same thing in big towns," Whoopi Goldberg said.

jason aldean tour who is with him

The ladies of The View aren't grooving to Jason Aldean 's controversial new music video, which has been widely criticized for allegedly perpetuating racism .

Whoopi Goldberg led Thursday's show by chastising the country star for including footage of protests in his video for "Try That in a Small Town," which incited backlash when juxtaposed with lyrics like "Got a gun that my granddad gave me / They say one day they're gonna round up / Well, that s--- might fly in the city, good luck / Try that in a small town."

Said Goldberg, "He talks about life in a small town, and it's different, and he chose these images. He's got folks from the Black Lives Matter movement, and he's talking about people taking care of each other, and I find it so interesting that it never occurred to Jason or the writers that that's what these folks were doing: They were taking care of the people in their town because they didn't like what they saw."

She added, "Just like you talk about people taking care of each other in small towns, we do the same thing in big towns. You just have to realize that when you make it about Black Lives Matter, people kind of say, 'Well, are you talking about Black people? What are you talking about here?'"

Conservative cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin said she's willing to give Aldean the benefit of the doubt "that his intent wasn't to stoke division, glorify violence or racism," but she added that the song's lyrics made her think about the February 2020 murder of Ahmaud Arbery, a "Black man in a small town in the South who got shot for doing nothing wrong."

Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin , however, weren't as forgiving; Behar called the song "deplorable" and "annoying," and Hostin stressed that she wouldn't give Aldean any leeway with such sensitive material.

"What was evoked for me was.... those sundown areas," the legal expert said, pointing to her mother in the studio audience. "My mother and father, because they were an interracial couple, were run out of South Carolina by the KKK. My father is still scarred from that experience... so don't tell me that not only was he aware of what he was doing by using that imagery, he embraces that imagery. Unfortunately, this became the No. 1 song on U.S. iTunes. We have a problem in this country about race, and the biggest problem is we refuse to admit that it exists."

Hostin ended the segment with a response from Aldean, citing a tweet he wrote amid the blowback — which included CMT pulling the "Try That in a Small Town" music video from its rotation on Monday.

"In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide [Black Lives Matter] protests," he tweeted Tuesday, calling the claims "meritless" and "dangerous," and saying the track doesn't contain "a single lyric" referencing race, but does include all "real news footage" in its runtime.

"While I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music, this one goes too far," he wrote.

"It does go too far?" Goldberg replied after Hostin read the tweet. " You've gone too far."

‘I died 3 times:’ Ga. country music star Colt Ford talks about near-fatal heart attack

ATLANTA — Country music star and Athens native Colt Ford said he flatlined at least three times on his way to the hospital following a near-fatal heart attack.

He had just wrapped up a show earlier this month at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row in Gilbert, Arizona.

Ford said he doesn’t even remember the performance.

“I walked back to the bus and text my fiancé, ‘Hi baby,’ and fell over dead,” Ford told the Big D and Bubba Show , a nationally syndicated radio show. Ford said his band members came out and found him. On the way to the hospital, Ford said he ‘died three times.”

“It’s been just a crazy, traumatic experience,” Ford said.

He credits his good friend Brantley Gilbert with making sure he got the care he needed. When finding out the first hospital Ford was taken to didn’t have the equipment needed, Ford said Gilbert told the doctors, “I don’t care what you got to do, get him to the other hospital, ASAP.”

Ford said he needed an ECMO machine, which pumps blood “outside of your body to a heart-lung machine that removes carbon dioxide and sends oxygen-filled blood back to tissues in the body,” according to the Mayo Clinic . “This method allows the blood to ‘bypass’ the heart and lungs, allowing these organs to rest and heal.”

“I had so much trauma in my body and my heart, I had to have three stents put in,” Ford said.

Ford has canceled the rest of his tour as he continues to recover. He said he thanked God for still being here and has been in the middle of finishing a new album.

“The Lord had more for me to do,” Ford said. “I have more music to make and hopefully more differences to make in people’s lives.”

Ford is known among the country music world for his mix of country and rap. He’s had several No. 1 hits along with “five consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart with Declaration of Independence bowing at #1 in 2012.”

Ford has done collaborations “with everyone from Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, and Jermaine Dupri to members of No Doubt, Lit, and Lady Antebellum. Additionally, he co-wrote Jason Aldean’s #1 hit ‘Dirt Road Anthem’ and Brantley Gilbert’s #1 hit ‘Country Must Be Country Wide’ as a behind-the-scenes force in the studio,” according to his website.
