Justin Bieber is ready to bring Justice to the masses. The global pop star has announced rescheduled dates for his Justice World Tour, which was originally set to kick off this summer. Bieber will now hit the road in 2022, launching with a Feb. 18 show at Pechanga Arena in San Diego.

The tour, promoted by AEG, will run through Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Denver, Atlanta, Montreal, Tampa, Austin and more. The 52-date trek will close out June 24 at American Family Insurance Amphitheater in Milwaukee. See the latest seats and tickets at VividSeats.com  or on Bieber’s website .

“We’re working hard to make this tour the best one yet,” Bieber said in a release. “I’m excited to get out there and engage with my fans again.”

In addition to the rescheduled dates, Bieber has added another seven performances to the tour. Tickets for the newly announced shows in Jacksonville, Orlando, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Des Moines, Austin and Uncasville, Connecticut, will go on sale later this month.

The tour will be in support of Bieber’s latest album Justice , which is the singer’s eighth album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.  Justice has garnered more than 4 and a half billion streams worldwide since its release in March.

All tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates. All previous ticket-holders will receive an email from their ticket provider with event updates and options if they cannot make the 2022 date.

T-Mobile customers can get access to stage-front tickets at every U.S. tour stop, even the sold-out shows. Un-carrier customers can snag their Reserved Tickets starting 30 days prior to each show at first day prices.

Can anyone who haven't go to a Justin's concert write a comment??

My name is Diana, I'm 22 and I have never going to a Justin's concert!!! I just read all the previous comments and my tears just fell down... because the fact to see and meet Justin personally, is my biggest dream but I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE that one day I'm not going to write ''I haven't go'', the next comment will be ''I went to a Justin's''

Unfortunately, I didn't see Justin growing up during his tours, but I followed his entire life and now, I have among my stuffs a T-shirt of Purpose Tour and his perfume ''Someday''.

It might sound crazy, but I have have times when I speak lonely, just preparing the time when I'll face Justin and imagine all the conversation, because I have to make true this phrase that it's only mine ''I WILL MEET YOU, OR I WILL'' and this will happen, that is a promess. And when that time running, I'll just tell him... my life is very completely now...

I loved all the comments and I just grateful because I know my idol is a very loved person

The show was fantastic. Great sound, amazing lighting, talented musicians and dancers... even dazzling fireworks.

However, the main character was not up to the show's standards.

Bieber did not engage with his audience, did not smile once, did not put his heart in it.

Screaming girls didn't notice that the object of their desire hardly sang... since they wet the ones singing each song by heart.

His younger fans don't care if he shows that he doesn't enjoy his chosen line of work. Parents who ent with them think he should respect his public.

If he is bored, he should study to be something else.

On the other hand, the organization was pitiful. The guys showing people around did not know their way around. According to one of them a friend's row "did not exist", and to another, mine "was nowhere tocbe found". People were standing on the limpy chairs which made it hard for smaller children to watch the concert.

In short, I would have rather stay home, and the show had no passion, but my kid's enthusiasm was worth it.

Last night was the best night of my life I think I'm still in shock tbh. Justin looked so happy and healthy last night and that's all I could ever ask for. He may mime for some songs but that doesn't even bother me just breathing the same air and being in the same room as him is a dream come true. Although I fainted just before he performed cold water because I was too claustrophobic I still got straight back up as soon as I heard the start of cold water and carried on having an amazing time even though I was not feeling well. Justin sounded absolutely amazing throughout the whole of the show,his dances were perfect aswell as the dancers. He was having such a good time you could tell by the smile on his face throughout the whole show and the best part was that everyone went silent as soon as he started talked to show him we all respected him and what he had to say. I'll never forget when he made eye contact with me when I put down my phone and put my hands into a heart during purpose. It was the best night of my life and the most amazing 16th birthday present I could ever wish for. I love him so much and I can't wait to see him again. Xxxx

Justin Bieber has announced details of the final North American show on his sold-out Justice world tour.

The pop star kicked off the tour in San Diego, CA in February, performing across the US and Canada. The North American leg was originally scheduled to wrap up in Los Angels on July 2 with a concert at the Kia Forum.

However, Bieber has now added an extra date at that venue on July 3. Tickets for the new show will go on sale at 10am PT on Friday (May 6) and will be available to purchase here .

Following the new LA concert, the pop icon will head overseas to continue the tour. He will first travel to Europe to perform across the continent before heading to South America, Africa, Asia, Oceania and back to Europe. The Justice world tour is currently set to conclude in Krakow, Poland on March 25, 2023.

As a part of the Justice world tour, the singer has brought his “Justice In Action” initiative to fans across the country, raising awareness on important issues like criminal justice reform, climate action, voter registration, and now, mental health awareness. He has partnered with the online therapy platform BetterHelp to provide free access to therapy for Justin’s 250+ person touring crew and for his millions of fans.

Last week, Bieber surprise-released two new songs – the Don Toliver-featuring “Honest” and the playful “I Feel Funny.” Both tracks saw him team up with Lyrical Lemonade found and taste-making director Cole Bennett on the videos.

“Honest” marked the megastar’s first official single “Ghost,” the anthemic finale to the multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated Justice . That album went to No.1 on pop radio in January, making chart history with the most No.1 hits by a male solo artist in US radio history and the only fifth artist ever to reach twenty Top five hits on the Hot 100.

Justin Bieber to Tour Five Continents on the ‘Justice World Tour’

Justin Bieber has announced the new dates for his Justice World Tour . The tour is set to take place May 2022 through March 2023 and Bieber will touch five continents, 20 countries, and over 90 dates.

The new dates come on the heels of his recently announced  52-date 2022 North American tour , kicking off in San Diego on February 18. 

The international shows start in May 2022 in Mexico and will then continue on to Scandinavia for festival shows in August; South America, South Africa and the Middle East in September & October, and then over to Australia and New Zealand in November & December before moving to the UK and Europe in early 2023.

“We’ve been working hard to create the best show we’ve ever done, and we can’t wait to share it with fans around the world. I’ll see you soon,” said Bieber. 

The Def Jam singer has released the video for his single “Ghost,” which he debuted with a  show-stopping performance at the VMAs last month .

Returning to the beginning of the 2021 journey of the  JUSTICE  album, Justin and his partners at OBB Films, SB Films, and Amazon Studios are releasing the new concert film/documentary feature  Justin Bieber: Our World  globally today via  Amazon Prime Video .

Justin Bieber canceled the remainder of his U.S. Justice Tour shows, originally scheduled for June and July, following his Ramsay Hunt syndrome diagnosis that left half of his face paralyzed. The tour had also included an appearance at the Summerfest music festival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the end of June. 

"Justin continues to receive the best medical care possible, is upbeat about his recovery, and is looking forward to getting back out on the road and performing for his fans overseas later this summer," an AEG tour promoter statement read. Bieber is set to kick off the international leg of his tour in Italy on July 31, 2022. 

According to the Mayo Clinic, Ramsay Hunt syndrome "occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears. In addition to the painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear." 

Last Friday, Justin posted an update to Instagram. "By this point in my life I realize storms come and go. Jesus continues to remind me that he is with me in the midst of the storm," he wrote. "It's not about the storm. It's that we are NEVER ALONE AND HE UNDERSTANDS. 😭😭😭😭" 

A source also told ET that Haley Bieber, Justin's wife, has been his biggest supporter through the medical crisis. "Hailey has been at Justin's side day in and day out, as always," the source said. "He is definitely leaning on her as his number one supporter and feels very comforted by her. He feels like with her support, he can conquer this and get back to his normal self, everyday life, work, touring and being healthy and happy. Hailey is certainly helping Justin stay positive and confident and they have high hopes for getting his health back on track."

Justin Bieber Postpones Remaining U.S. Tour Dates After Ramsay Hunt Syndrome Diagnosis

The music star’s face is partially paralyzed due to the rare disorder

The remainder of Justin Bieber’s US Justice Tour shows have been postponed as the singer continues to recover from Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which has partially paralyzed half of his face. The news was announced Thursday by Summerfest, the two-day Milwaukee festival where Bieber was scheduled to perform next Friday.

The statement from Bieber’s tour promoter AEG Presents, reads, “In light of Justin’s ongoing recovery, the remaining US Justice Tour shows scheduled for June and early July, including at Summerfest at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater in Milwaukee, WI on Friday, June 24, 2022 will be postponed.”

The postponed dates also include July 2 and July 3 shows at the Los Angeles Forum.

Bieber shared his diagnosis on Instagram last week. In a video, he demonstrated how the rare neurological disease has affected him. “For those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically obviously not capable of doing them,” he said.

Monday and Tuesday shows that were scheduled for Madison Square Garden were already put on hold because of his medical condition.

He still plans to keep his non-U.S. dates, according to the statement from AEG: “Justin continues to receive the best medical care possible, is upbeat about his recovery, and is looking forward to getting back out on the road and performing for his fans overseas later this summer.”

His international tour is scheduled to begin in Lucca, Italy, on July 31. Dates for Sweden, Brazil, Argentina and several other countries are still listed on his official site . The tour is currently slated to end on March 25, 2023 in Krakau, Poland.

The singer announced he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome last week.

Justin Bieber has called off the remainder of his North American tour dates so that he can recover from Ramsay Hunt syndrome.

Summerfest's official Twitter shared a message from Bieber's camp announcing the cancellations.

The statement begins: "In light of Justin’s ongoing recovery, the remaining US Justice Tour shows scheduled for June and early July, including at Summerfest at the @amfamamp in Milwaukee, WI on Friday, June 24, 2022 will be postponed."

Bieber alerted fans last week of his health scare and shared a video of how Ramsay Hunt syndrome has affected his ability to move the muscles on his face.

Bieber said he understood fans would be "frustrated" to hear he had to call off some tour stops. "I'm just physically not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious," he said.

Wife Hailey Bieber updated fans on her husband's recovery on Wednesday, telling "Good Morning America," "He's getting better every single day... He's going to be totally OK."

Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a rare neurological complication caused by the chickenpox virus, which can reactivate as shingles later in life as it stays dormant after initial infection, according to The Mayo Clinic.

Justin Bieber Eyes Return to Touring After Ramsay Hunt Diagnosis

Justin Bieber ’s “Justice” world tour is set to resume as scheduled after the pop star was forced to postpone a handful of dates after being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome.

Bieber came down with the rare virus — which affects nerves in the face and ear and can cause facial paralysis — last month while in the middle of the North American leg of his tour. He ultimately decided to postpone the remainder of those shows to recover, but Rolling Stone has confirmed that he’ll be ready to take the stage again, as planned, on July 31 at the Lucca Summer Festival in Italy.

The singer’s itinerary is expected to continue as planned, with a handful of shows in Europe during August, followed by treks to South America, South Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand ( find tickets here ). Additional European concerts are scheduled for early 2023. Bieber has not yet announced rescheduled dates for his postponed North American shows.

Upon announcing his Ramsay Hunt syndrome diagnosis, Bieber shared a video with fans and explained that the entire right side of his face was unable to move, and he could only smile and blink on the left side. “Obviously, my body’s telling me I gotta slow down,” he said at the time.

A few days later, Bieber said he was already starting to feel better in a message that also touched on how his faith had helped him through his diagnosis: “Each day has gotten better and through all of the discomfort, I have found comfort in the one who designed me and knows me,” he said. “This perspective has given me peace during this horrific storm that I’m facing. I know this storm will pass but in the meantime, Jesus is with me.”

I'm Justin Bieber.

So here's my lair.

Here's where I watch the Toronto Maple Leafs

absolutely demolish the Ottawa Senators.

It's five, four.

It's looking good.

Here's where I set up.

I sit here and I do work when we're on the road.

I sit here and I get emails done and stuff.

[chill music]

There is a, it's not real, but it's a fireplace here,

which is kind of cool aesthetic.

We got some art here by my friend, Joe Termini.

And it's some of my favorite art.

It's called Cash Only.

[Interviewer] Favorite bus memory?

Favorite bus memory, wow, okay.

Well, one time it was me, Alfredo, and another friend,

and we made this music video.

It was really low quality.

We made it on like a Flip cam or something.

And it was like a 10 hour bus ride.

And we made this video to a Drake song

called Find Your Loving.

♪ I better find your loving ♪

I don't know if that's what the song's called.

But anyways, we were on the bus.

And we had strobe, like just not real strobe lights,

but we had like flashlights.

And we just made this mockery music video.

And it was fun.

And then back here is my bedroom.

This is where I will sleep on the road when I travel.

So on the road, this is where I sleep.

So I spend most of my time back here laying down,

watching movies, getting rest.

But, check this out.

We got a shower.

It has a steam feature in it, which is pretty cool.

And then here is an infrared sauna, which is my favorite.

What's so cool about this is when I'm on tour

I gotta make sure that I keep my body on optimal level.

Because there's so much that goes into touring

and it's really hard on your body.

You're doing like an hour and a half show a night,

which is similar to a professional athlete.

And so with that being said,

you just gotta make sure you're taking

precautions necessary so that you keep your body in shape.

So that's why saunas are very good.

Here's where I have all of my stuff for my face

and my brushing of my teeth, my good stuff.

There's a compartment downstairs, down below,

to keep my clothes.

But then there's some of this stuff too,

which is some of this is Hailey's.

And some of it's mine, we tend to share clothes.

Over here, there's some more clothes.

Some more clothes in here.

All these little tucked away spots.

Just some vibes.

Here's my shoes.

They're not all filled up, but.

A bunch of options in there.

What else do I got in this bad boy?

Sorry, I got caught up in the TV.

[Interviewer] It's okay.

I bought this bus a year ago and it's been so good

because in quarantine, obviously there's,

you're supposed to stay socially distanced.

So we're able to travel in this

and still be able to keep socially distanced.

So we did a road trip in this bus, which was really cool.

We traveled from my home in Canada

all the way to my place in LA.

I just think there's something about being in your own

safe, comfortable environment that you just feel

comfortable, and safe, and protected, I don't know.

One thing I do love about this bus,

that I love about, I just love these lights,

these LED lights.

Favorite part of the bus.

Well, I love the bed.

This area's super cozy.

But I would say, my favorite part

of the bus would be this area.

And what I love about this, I think is super cool,

is that you can pull this out,

and this becomes almost like a little bed.

This, so you can just cruise here and sit.

You know, it's a vibe.

The cool thing about this bus is that it's usually with me

when I'm on the road for tour and stuff.

So band comes on here, dancers, the crew, and we just,

it's a good space, it's a good creative space.

[Interviewer] Do you ever write any music on the bus?

I've written some songs on the bus.

Not on this specific bus yet,

but I've definitely written some fun songs on the bus.

[Interviewer] What songs?

Well, there's a song called Memphis,

which I wrote in Memphis on the bus.

It's on my Journals album and yeah,

that was on on a tour bus.

Hailey Bieber Considering Trial Separation ​From Husband Justin: She ‘Needs Time’

Following a stressful stretch in their marriage, Hailey Bieber is considering asking her husband, Justin Bieber , for a trial separation, an insider exclusively tells In Touch .

“Hailey’s struggling,” explains the source. “She just needs time to sort things out on her own.”

The makeup mogul, 27, is still reeling from the “unbearable scrutiny” on social media after her father, Stephen Baldwin , reposted a message requesting prayers for Hailey and 30-year-old Justin, implying their five-year marriage was in trouble, explains the insider. Shortly after, she faced rumors that she was having an affair with a billionaire, which she insisted were concocted “out of thin air.”

All that has been compounded by health scares over the past few years, including Hailey’s ministroke and Justin’s diagnosis with Ramsay Hunt syndrome , which saw him canceling his tour and spending more time at home. Now, says the source, “Hailey just wants to live by herself for a while.”

The model previously opened up about a rough patch early in her marriage. “I called my mom … crying … like, ‘I just can’t do it,’” she said in 2021. “But I’ve loved this person for a very long time and now would not be the time to give up on him.”

She’s still not ready to give up, says the insider. “Hailey’s not asking for a divorce. She knows Justin feels hurt and confused, but she feels lost too. She just needs a break.”

Despite wanting time apart, Hailey celebrated her husband’s birthday when he turned 30 on March 1. “30!!!!!!!????!!????!!!!” she wrote on Instagram. “That was fast. Words could never truly describe the beauty of who you are. Happy Birthday to you… love of my life, for life.”

The longtime lovers tied the knot in 2018, just months after they reconnected following their February 2016 split. They both acknowledged their five-year wedding anniversary on social media in September 2023.

“5. I love you,” Hailey wrote on her page, along with various photos of the couple. The “Sorry” singer also included a gallery of images and wrote, “To the most precious, my beloved. 5 years. You have captivated my heart. I know from the depths of my soul down to my bones that this journey with you will only exceed our wildest expectations. So let’s keep dreaming big baby. Cheers to forever and ever. I love you with every fiber of my being.”

Although Justin and Hailey have an extremely high-profile relationship, she has insisted that they are a “normal” couple behind closed doors. In a February 2023 interview, she also gushed, “My favorite thing about being married is honestly the companionship I feel we have. Genuinely, [he is] my best friend in the entire world. There’s nobody I would rather spend more time with or do anything with.”

Sean 'Diddy' Combs and 15-Year-Old Justin Bieber Discuss Going to 'Get Some Girls' in Resurfaced Video

Two of Combs' properties were raided by federal agents on Monday amid sex trafficking allegations against the Bad Boy Records founder

A clip of Sean “Diddy” Combs hanging out with a 15-year-old Justin Bieber has resurfaced after two of the Bad Boy Records founder's properties were raided on Monday amid sex trafficking allegations.

In the video, shared to Bieber's YouTube page in 2009, the "Love Yourself" singer and Combs are in the midst of spending 48 hours together — and while the music mogul refuses to "disclose" what they're up to, they discuss the prospect of getting "some girls."

The clip opens with Combs, 54, showing Bieber his Lamborghini and offering to give him the car once he turns 16, as well as his mansion once the young star is 18.

"You ever seen the movie  48 Hrs?  Right now [Justin is] having 48 hours with Diddy, him and his boy," says the "Last Night" rapper. "They're having the times of their lives."

"Where we hanging out and what we’re doing we can’t really disclose. But it’s definitely a 15-year-old’s dream," adds Combs.

"I have been given custody of him," he continues. "You know, he’s signed to Usher , and I had legal guardianship of Usher when he did his first album. I did Usher’s first album."

"For the next 48 hours, he’s with me. And we’re gonna go full. Buck full crazy," says Combs, before asking Bieber what he's looking to do during their time together.

"Let’s just go get some girls," says the "Baby" performer, who then receives a hug from Combs.

"Man after my heart," replies the record executive. "That’s what I’m talking about."

A rep for Bieber did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Earlier this week, a 2016 interview on  The Howard Stern Show of Usher talking about his time living with Combs for a year at 13 years old resurfaced following the home raids.

In the clip, the "Yeah!" singer said he witnessed "very curious things taking place" at Combs' New York City home during his time living there.

"I got a chance to see some things. I went there to see the lifestyle — and I saw it," Usher, 45, told Stern, 70. "I don't know if I could indulge and understand what I was even looking at. It was pretty wild."

According to the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show headliner, famous artists like Biggie Smalls,  Lil' Kim , Craig Mack, Faith Evans and  Mary J. Blige would also hang around at Combs' house at the time.

Usher described the experience as "pretty crazy." Asked about whether he'd ever send his children to "Puffy camp," he declared, "Hell, no."

Over the past several months, Combs has been accused of sexual assault and similar allegations by five people in separate lawsuits, with two including accusations of sex trafficking.

Following the raids of his properties, Combs' lawyer  released a statement condemning the action  on Tuesday evening.

"There was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residences," said attorney Aaron Dyer in a statement to PEOPLE. "There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated."

"This unprecedented ambush — paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence — leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits," added Dyer.

The statement concluded, "There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name."

JUSTIN Bieber has majorly snubbed his wife, Hailey, while following a stunning singer on social media.

Fans have slammed the pop star for not acknowledging his spouse on Instagram recently, despite showing interest in others.

Justin , 30, followed vocalist Sabrina Carpenter on the platform Monday, leading fans to share concerns regarding his marriage to Hailey , 27.

One snapped a screenshot of the evidence, then posting on an online thread where they opened up the topic for discussion.

"Justin, back to Instagram and started following Sabrina Carpenter and still doesn't like any of Hailey's posts. Actions speak louder than words. He literally likes and comments on everyone's posts except her," they wrote.

"Even the birthday post she posted for him he ignored it. She is married to his last name, his money, and the ring, not to Justin. He is not with her and doesn't see her," the user added.

Shortly after fans noticed that the Canadian star was following Sabrina, Hailey posted a sultry selfie on social media.

The model shared the snap on her Instagram Stories, showing her face with a pouty expression and a filter with fake blue eyes.

The socialite looked downtrodden in the photo, which she left captionless.

Hailey posted Justin on her Instagram profile on March 2 when she  shared a 30th birthday tribute  to her husband.

Fans noticed that he  wasn't wearing his wedding ring  in several of the snaps.

They also noticed that the pop star did not reply to his wife's public birthday message.

Before that, the Baby hitmaker hadn't appeared on her Instagram since December 1.

Hailey's account mainly consists of posts about her brand Rhode Beauty and photos of her outfits.

SECRET MOVE?

Earlier this week, f ans shared theories that Justin is hiding out in La Quinta, California amid rumors he has split from his wife.

The performer has been spotted at several venues around the city in Riverside County, California , in the last few months.

On a Reddit thread, fans speculated that he has quietly moved to La Quinta amid  apparent marriage issues  while his wife  Hailey  remains living in Los Angeles.

The pair were spotted at Nobu restaurant in nearby Indian Wells on January 24.

A fan shared several photos with the couple on Instagram and TikTok at the time.

Then, on February 14, Justin was seen at The Nest nightclub and restaurant in Indian Wells.

He smiled while posing for a photo with an employee at the nightspot.

"The kindest soul, so glad Justin Bieber and his team got to try The Nest! We love you Justin, come back any time," the club wrote on Facebook.

The singer was also spotted on March 13 by a fan who is based in Coachella.

"I just saw Justin Bieber," she wrote with a crying face emoji.

There were also screenshots of fan comments claiming they had seen Justin out and about in La Quinta, including at Madison Club.

These sightings and screenshots were shared on Reddit, with a fan writing, "Maybe he is staying at a separate house from Hailey [in La Quinta] and doesn't want to appear."

"Seems like he's in La Quinta a lot," one agreed.

But to be fair, it’s not difficult to see why Justin Bieber’s tour bus costs so much.

Tour buses are nothing new

Celebrities of all sorts, from Hollywood actors to chart-topping rappers, use them all the time – while others favor private jets .

Some are like luxury hotels on the inside.

It’s a means of transport as well as an office but, crucially, it becomes their home for extended periods of time.

For this reason, celebs with an eight- or even nine-figure net worth such as Justin Bieber aren’t shy about spending money on their RV.

Justin Bieber gave his fans a tour of his tour bus, no pun intended, and it looks tremendous.

Made by Prevost, it offers a lounge area with a flat-screen TV and a sofa that folds out, which can be used to sleep on.

Also, it has a fireplace, a work space, a dining area and another L-shaped couch.

The bathroom is larger than some hotel’s bathrooms.

There’s a shower that’s large enough for two people, and it has a steam function and even a sauna.

This, according to Bieber, is not just for show.

“When I’m on tour, I gotta make sure I keep by body on an optimal level,” he told GQ . “There’s so much that goes into touring, it’s really hard on your body [when] you’re doing, like, an hour and a half show a night.”

The tour bus cost around $2 million to make, which is peanuts to a guy like Justin Bieber.

With a net worth of $300+ million, Bieber loves spending cash on some cool toys.

He once famously asked Rolls-Royce to make him a custom one-off inspired by a concept that wasn’t for sale.

And Rolls-Royce was happy to oblige.

On another occasion, he bought a unique Porsche very few people had ever heard of.

Clearly, he doesn’t really do ‘standard’.

It would’ve been weird enough for Justin Timberlake, of all people, to open his new album with a sob story about the high price of fame. But one in which he frames the pain he’s endured as a byproduct of his devotion to his Tennessee hometown? That’s truly unhinged.

Yet it’s just what Timberlake does with “ Memphis ,” the first song on “Everything I Thought It Was,” which came out Friday, more than half a decade after the release of his previous LP. Over a bleary, slow-mo trap beat, the singer and former boy-band star, now 43, laments the isolation he experienced and the sacrifices he made on his way up — a wild choice given the critique that’s coalesced in recent years of Timberlake as a man long permitted to glide by troubles that damaged the women around him (including his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears and his onetime Super Bowl halftime partner Janet Jackson ).

It’s also a baffling aesthetic approach: By rooting his struggles in his connection to an African American cultural capital — “I was way too far out in the world, but I still put on for my city,” he insists in his well-practiced blaccent — Timberlake is flaunting his proximity to Blackness at a moment when pop seems to have little of the use it once did for white guys doing R&B. Consider the disappearance of Robin Thicke ; consider Justin Bieber’s apparent reluctance to jump back into the game.

Or consider that much of the discourse surrounding this year’s Super Bowl halftime performance, by Usher, had to do with the sorry fact that it took this Black superstar as long as it did to reach pop’s biggest stage while Timberlake was invited to headline six years ago — and after having taken part in the 2004 “wardrobe malfunction” that derailed Jackson’s career.

None of this is to doubt Timberlake’s genuine love of R&B nor to diminish his undeniable skill for making it: Though it’s larded with glib disco-funk tracks and morose, One Republic-style pop-rock tunes, “Everything I Thought It Was” contains a handful of gems in “Love & War,” a Prince-ish ballad with his prettiest falsetto singing, and the spacey slow jam “What Lovers Do”; “Selfish,” the album’s coolly received lead single, is another highlight, this one with echoes of Bieber’s underrated “Changes” from 2020.

Timberlake’s enthusiasms were also on display last week at the Wiltern, where he played an intimate free concert meant to drum up attention for the new music and for a world tour he’ll launch next month. His 2006 ballad “Until the End of Time” was soulful and unhurried — watch him do it with similar finesse in a just-released NPR Tiny Desk Concert — and he seemed sincerely amped to bring out Coco Jones , the up-and-coming R&B singer, for a duet on her slinky “ICU,” which he called one of his favorite songs of the last five years.

Jones wasn’t Timberlake’s only guest at the Wiltern: Near the end of the show, he reunited the members of ’N Sync to perform a medley of several of the band’s vintage hits, including “Gone,” probably its most impressive downtempo moment, and “Girlfriend,” which the group did as a raunchy mash-up with Too Short’s classic “Blow the Whistle.” (Less happily, the members also perched on five carefully arranged stools to offer the live debut of “ Paradise ,” a maudlin new ’N Sync song featured on “Everything I Thought It Was.”)

For most of the nearly two decades since ’N Sync’s initial breakup, Timberlake has appeared ambivalent about a comeback, even sitting out a much-hyped cameo by the group during Ariana Grande’s performance at Coachella in 2019. Here, though, he looked gratified to have his old pals by his side — and eager, perhaps, to revisit a time when his privilege promised unlimited mileage.
