Kelly Brianne Clarkson born in Texas in America, on April 24th, 1982 is an American pop and rock singer and songwriter, whose music career began in 2002.

Interestingly, the beautiful, blonde, American singer primarily craved a career in marine biology, however was later apparently put off when she watched the famous shark attack film ‘Jaws”. The Texas born girl, is the youngest of three children, her brother, Jason, actually appeared in one of her music videos.

Kelly Clarkson performed in several musicals in her hometown school, Burleson High School, including, ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ and, ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’. Additionally, she also impressively sang at her school talent show, to which she received a great response and was given lots of positive feedback. Subsequently this encouraged her to peruse singing lessons and classical training.

In 2002, Kelly’s primarily emerged on the public’s radar in 2002 through the talent show, American Idol, of which she won. This was her breakthrough and since, she has never looked back. Kelly became a worldwide pop symbol!

Since the show, Kelly has excitingly sold over 20 million albums internationally, achieving and astonishing 7 singles on the highly regarded, ‘Top 10’ on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Furthermore, she has released four powerful studio albums, with three of them going platinum.

Through all her success, Kelly has also achieved a whopping two American Music Awards, two Grammy Awards, two MTV Music Awards, and 11 Billboard Music Awards. Wow.

Live reviews

Delightfully quirky and ridiculously talented, Kelly Clarkson is a once in a lifetime artist. Her shows are high energy, but not overly produced with simple sets and a rockin’ band. From the second she steps on stage, it’s clear the audience is there for one reason and one reason alone: that voice. If you’re not there for the shear euphoria of listening to Kelly sing, you might feel a bit out of place with those around you. Be prepared to hoot and holler as she hits a high note or belts a verse to perfection.

Next to her voice, the best thing about Kelly is her “This is me. Take it or leave it” attitude. She is unapologetically herself. No drama, no frills. She has no problem letting the audience in on the Hair of the Dog sloshing around in her solo cup—a necessary evil to cure a night of drunk bicycle riding at a friend’s birthday party the night before. You might even get a story or two about group yoga sessions with the band. I watched her trip once at a show in Milwaukee and twist her ankle so badly roadies had to carry her off stage—but not before hilariously raising her hands in salute to Molly Shannon’s Mary Katherine Gallagher from Saturday Night Live. You know? “Superstar!”

Perhaps a throwback to her Idol days, Kelly tends to perform a lot of covers, but each one will blow you away. From haunting versions of Florence and the Machine’s “Heavy in Your Arms”, to soaring vocals on any number of Aretha Franklin tunes, to crowd pleasing radio hits like Fun’s “We are Young,” Kelly nails every note and every line with emotion and reverence.

Whether she’s the opening act or the main event, Kelly will bring it. She’s a must-see!

I'm 66 yrs old and have attended many concerts. I had seen Elvis on 2 occasions. Of all the concerts I've seen over my years there are only 2 entertainers that I wish the show would not end and that is Elvis and Kelly Clarkson! This show was so beautiful in so many ways. First of all her VOICE is second to none. Secondly she interacts with the audience with her sharp and funny wit and humor. Thirdly I thought it was wonderful that she brought her back-up singers out with her on the runways as well as the guitar and saxophone players. Fourth, she didn't have to have dancers in the background because she DIDN'T NEED BACKGROUND DANCERS!! They would have been a total distraction from her magnificent voice and personality.

To top it off, her emotions on "Piece By Piece" brought this old man to tears. My father left when I was 7 years old and I never heard from him again until I was 39 yrs old. I "felt" her emotions and I felt mine at the same time.

I cannot say enough about how this beautiful person singing to me touched my soul. Ok, this is getting mushy so I will quit but please tell Kelly thank you from the bottom of my heart - to hers.

Kelly Clarkson shot to fame after winning American Idol way back in 2002. She has since become one of the most successful talent show contestants ever, selling over an incredible 20 million albums. I saw her perform live at the O2 in London and, judging from the way she owned the stage and the confidence that oozed from her, you would never guess she came to fame through a talent show. She performs as if it were all she was ever trained to do. She is a natural performer and has an incredible voice live. Her vocals are incredibly powerful and emotive and she manages to hit some incredible notes. Her performance was so entertaining because many of her songs are very catchy and fun, and hence easy to dance to. Even her sadder songs are incredibly catchy. Furthermore, she has enough classics that almost everyone was able to sing along to every song. Hits such as ‘Stronger’, ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’, ‘Since You Been Gone’ and ‘Breakaway’ were all performed to the delight of the entire crowd.

There are very fews singers with the same universal appeal as Kelly Clarkson. Her melodic pop has made consistent appearances on charts on both sides of the Atlantic for the last decade and she has a number of modern 00's hits such as 'Since U Been Gone'.

The lady herself is also a wonderfully charismatic personality and this helps with the overall appeal as the whole audience cheers as one as she addresses them warmly. She is a vocal powerhouse onstage as she hits a whole variety of notes with ease and really throws herself into impassioned versions of 'My Life Would Suck Without You' and 'I Forgive You'. There is break in tempo for the downplayed 'Breakaway' which makes the whole venue suddenly feel very personal and Kelly's passionate manner make the performance rather moving. The pace is picked up though for a perfect finale of 'Since U Been Gone' and 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' which are two brilliant examples of pop done so right.

If you must know, I have a love-hate relationship with reality TV. American Idol was my first foray into an addictive series and I blame it all on Kelly Clarkson. In the 14 or so years since her season, I've loved everything she's released, yet never made the time to see her in concert. This year I righted that wrong.

We didn't come to see Kelly lip-sync while doing mediocre choreography, we came to here her SING, and she did just that. From her char-toppers to her current album's tracks, I sang everyone word for word. The hoarse voice the next day was well worth it just to be there to hear her ANNOUNCE HER SECOND BABY ON THE WAY!

Glad you waited for me to be there, Kelly. Twas an honor.

Kelly Clarkson is totally, absolutely, without question, a true TALENT. She has the vocal range to sing anything, and sing it wonderfully. I saw Kelly for the Meaning of Life tour because I really liked the album, but the real gems of the show apart from her bubbly personality and amazing voice is all the hit songs.

Kelly sang all her classics and they sound fantastic, it was really great. Plus she did a cover of idontwantobeyouanymore and it was really wonderful.

Kelly was really great, and I would see her again. Of all the pop-stars I've seen, Kelly completely blew me away with her voice, just so freaking great.

of course kelly was great but....

the show opened at 7 pm and she never hit the stage until 9-9:15...she was on till 11:00 but just tool long to sit for a night... why does everyone need a warm up for them.

The ticket is for kelly Clarkson not 2 hrs of unknowns...and Kelly needs a stylist for her outfits on stage - she is too beautiful to dress like she does on stage ...and the one girl in shorts

was dresssed so inappropriately for a stage act.

Where's the glitz and glamour. She looked like she was taking an afternoon walk in the park.

NO CLASS ....Kelly let me help you dress....

I thought that Kelly Clarkson was really good!! I liked how she sang some of her old songs and some of her newer songs. I also thought she was really engaging with the audience, and that is a really good quality to have. I also liked how she got emotional in the song Piece by Piece. It shows you how much that song means to her. So, overall I thought it was a fantastic show and I would definitely go again!!!

First time seeing her live...the lady is a phenomenal performer! She is and always be “American Idol’s, First Lady”!

She served a full plate of entertainment... I feel she could have omitted the moment with the wine, in light of the audience of impressionable young children who were among the fans.

Review: Kelly Clarkson’s Emotional Roller Coaster Meaning of Life Tour Hits Chicago

In a music industry filled with artists that seem to be content with the 'fill in the city' sort of mentality when it comes to interacting with fans during their live show, Kelly Clarkson is a breath of unfiltered, hilarious, relatable, real air.

Oh, and she also has one of the finest voices in all of music.

As Clarkson seemingly appeared out of nowhere Friday night (Feb. 22) in Chicago — bathed in one single white spotlight and surrounded by her loyal fandom in the middle of the packed arena — it was evident that this was not going to be a phoned-in sort of live show.

Paying homage to her 2002 American Idol win that took her from waitressing in Texas to superstardom, Clarkson launched into "A Moment Like This," followed by "Meaning of Life" before joining her band and backup singers on the larger stage.

Though there were no less than four stylists under her dress trying to fix a wardrobe malfunction, Clarkson didn't miss a step as she stepped into a rocking version of "Walk Away."

"Literally, like, something happened when I made a change — I unhooked my pants and all during the 'Meaning of Life' and I was like 'you are about to see the meaning of life in your face," Clarkson quipped.

She quickly got down to business, and she had a purpose.

"There's a lot of division in our country," she told the crowd assembled at Allstate Arena, shifting gears. Thankfully, all involved seemed more than ready to put any differences on hold for a night in favor of a night of unity and music.

Clarkson led an incredible ride, from 2017's "Love So Soft" and "Whole Lotta Woman" to past hits "Breakaway" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes." She slowed down with songs a ballad break she called "depressing," but the crowd seemed to consider more therapeutic — "Piece by Piece," "Because of You," "Beautiful Disaster" and "Sober."

And in what has become somewhat of a tradition on her Meaning of Life Tour , Clarkson then took her shoes off for a cover song, this time Shawn Mendes' “In My Blood. "

The rest of the show played like a virtual pep rally of life for her fans, as people sang too loud and danced with the people next to them during songs like "My Life Would Suck Without You," "Heartbeat Song" and "Miss Independent" a song Clarkson sung alongside openers Kelsea Ballerini and The Voice winner Brynn Cartelli , who both delivered opening performances worthy of attention and praise.

In the all-but-certain encore, Clarkson stunned the audience with a moving Hamilton  cover "It's Quiet Uptown" before turning things up again with "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" and "Since U Been Gone," two songs that put the crowd into a downright frenzy.

At the end, you could sense that the crowd didn't want to leave. They didn’t want the music to stop or the 'nothing can touch me' feeling to go away. But maybe, just maybe, they were different people than when they had first walked in.

That's the power of music — the power of artists like Kelly Clarkson.

Things to do | kelly clarkson at allstate arena review: grown up and in command.

Kelly Clarkson performs during the Meaning of Life tour at the Allstate Arena on Friday.

Kelly Clarkson beckoned for unity during her concert at Allstate Arena on Friday. “There’s a lot of division in our country,” she said, pointing out that most people can find common ground. That seemed to be the case in the audience – which spanned in age from young kids to grandparents, and included individuals, friends and couples of all stripes – a testament that her music brought together a wide swath of backgrounds.

She added that this “is art, it’s supposed to be fun.” And though she touted the entertaining side of the show, it was the emotional impact that the unassuming pop star skillfully delivered that made it a commanding performance and showcased her growth.

Clarkson’s latest album, eighth LP “Meaning of Life,” finds the artist free from the constraints of her original label deal garnered from her “American Idol ” win in 2002 and showcases the soulful side of the singer that hadn’t been fully explored on previous albums. A decade after her Rosemont Theatre performance where a less assured, though still endearing Clarkson alluded to her then-label woes, the singer’s charm remained intact, along with some excellent sass and a more mature sound.

She opened by paying tribute to her come-up on “American Idol’s” first season and being its first winner (performing a rare “A Moment Like This”) and her coaching duties on “The Voice” have culminated in tour slots (she mentored warm-up act Brynn Cartelli, who together with fellow opener Kelsea Ballerini joined Clarkson for a fiery “Miss Independent,” and D.R. King served as Clarkson’s duet partner during “Run Run Run”).

Backed by a band and emotive backing singers that adeptly traversed Clarkson’s wide-ranging material, Clarkson was savvy in mostly culling crowd pleasers delivered with a downhome approach driven home with her easy banter. She joked about almost showing fans “the meaning of life” when her outfit was coming undone, self-deprecatingly joked of her love of wine, comfortably appeared barefoot after one of her costume changes and directly addressed individual fans in the audience.

That disarming, charismatic realness – one void of big stage production; her beguiling voice and personality were more than enough to fill the arena – also permeated her material, from her own songs to her covers. New soul-tipped material honed in on empowering verve (“Whole Lotta Woman”), sultry flirtation (“Love So Soft”) and the sizzling come-on of “Heat” highlighted her raw grit and earthy vibrato while she also acrobatically reached upper ranges during her vocal runs.

Clarkson’s powerful voice conveyed a range of emotions, whether it was her own songs, such as the audience-buoyed “Breakaway” and the tearful disillusionment of “Piece by Piece,” or during her rendition of Shawn Mendes’ “In My Blood” or her moving “Hamilton” cover, “It’s Quiet Uptown.”

Clarkson closed with a pair of her anthemic, signature pop hits, “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and “Since U Been Gone.” Those natural standouts also pointed to another of Clarkson’s strengths. Having long publicly battled for creative control, her resolute resilience through her songs and while carving out some meaning of life resonated at her Allstate show.

James Arthur Enlists Kelly Clarkson for a Soulful Duet of ‘From the Jump’

By Tomás Mier

James Arthur got the perfect voice to join him on “From the Jump.”

On Friday, the British singer-songwriter released a new version of the Bitter Sweet Love track, but this time featuring none other than Kelly Clarkson for a soulful, tear-jerking duet.

“When I heard Kelly’s vocals on this, my mind was blown. What a great honor to have someone of her caliber feature on one of my favorite songs from this body of work,” Arthur said in a press release.

Clarkson, for her part, commended Artuhr’s vocals, saying she “was stoked” when he sent her the song, which she described as having a “singer/songwriter vibe with pop elements of catchiness that I really dig.”

“I love singing with artists who inspire me and vocalists I adore,” she said. “That’s my favorite kind of duet partner … The melody is beautiful, and the writing is so great that I was very excited to sing on it with him!”
