Make Your Own! Total Time: 25 Minutes 1. Preheat oven to 450°F. 2. Remove chicken thighs from pouch and place flat side (skin side) up on a lined sheet pan. Reserve the extra marinade from the pouch. 3. Heat chicken thighs for 12 to 15 minutes or until thighs have caramelized and are heated through. - Pro tip: set your oven to broil for the last 2 minutes to get the thighs extra golden, but watch them closely! 4. Shred carrots, separate lettuce leaves and prepare rice, if desired. 5. Slice the chicken and fill lettuce leaves with desired toppings. *Carrots out of stock

Make Your Own! Total Time: 10 Minutes 1. Add 1-2 tbsp of cooking oil to a sauté pan. Sauté peppers and onions on high heat for two to three minutes. Season with salt and pepper and set aside. 2. Remove the chicken from the pouch, discard liquid and slice into thin strips. - Pro tip: heating the chicken ahead of time will cut down the cook time and get you oozing, melty cheese in a hurry. Follow package heating instructions, for best results. 4. Assemble the quesadillas: Place shredded cheese on one tortilla, followed by sliced chicken, sautéed mixture, more cheese and top with a second tortilla. 5. Cook quesadilla in an oiled sauté pan on medium heat until both sides are golden brown, crunchy and the filling is heated through. 6. Slice and serve with your favorite salsa and sour cream. *Peppers not in stock

I unfortunately had the most unpleasant experience at this location. I'm new to Minnesota and have had great experiences this far but when I entered this location and purchased a cup of ice and gas I was disappointed . The older woman with glasses didn't greet meet me or say hello, attempted to charge me $2.00 for a cup of ice and said it looked like sprite, no other kwik trip in the state has confused a cup of ice for sprite. It was as if she completely forgot it was a gas station, I had to ask for gas , she didn't say thank you, goodbye, you're welcome or see you next time, didn't ask if I had rewards or anything. Handed me my change and walked away from the counter in disgust , despite it the store being busy and a line forming. I personally would avoid going inside, I can't in god faith assure good service to everyone that shops here.

Cup of ice

Wow! I've been a fan of Kwik Trip for awhile, but I've never been in one as popular as this Plymouth MN station. (Popular = busy.) Stopped by to kill time and get lunch before an appointment and it was a zoo as soon as I pulled into the parking lot. All the pumps were full. Most of the hot food was immediately when you walked in, which caused chaos at the front door. Went to get a brat, and the buns were empty. Found a bun and then discovered the ketchup was empty. On the other hand, if you don't find something to eat at this store, then you're just not hungry. They have everything! I was also happy to see an employee checking the temperature of the soup. And a full bank of cashiers. Sorry no pictures ... I didn't want to add to the chaos!

Kwik Trip gave off some good Wawa vibes for me! (those of us who lived on the east coast will understand this). There are so many food options. You can easily find fresh foot next to fried chicken and even donuts. I got the fried chicken and it wasn't great (3.5 starts for the chicken). 4+ stars for the options. I definitely left wanting more or wanting to try more things.

Stopped in the Kwik Trup on Zane Ave Wednesday late afternoon . They were busy but had 3 cashiers working . Bonus points for that. Bought their fried chicken for $9.99 and it was really good 4.5 stars .

This store is just a few blocks from our house, so we shop there frequently. The prices are so reasonable, and the food is excellent. The staff is so very helpful, as was proven yet again when I ran in there the other day to buy eggs. They were all out (because of the coronavirus pandemic going on right now). I asked the staff when they thought another shipment of eggs might come in. They said perhaps tomorrow. I thanked her, and she asked if I'd like to leave my name and number, and that they would call me if eggs were on the truck. Sure enough, the next morning they called, and I sent my husband to the store to pick them up. Kwik Trip is top notch in my book!

Can't believe I'm saying this but totally smoked the King and the big M. Don't know that I'd pack up the family and head there for lunch, but if you happen to be filling up and want a burger that hasn't been brought back to life via microwave or hydration- give this burger a try.

I have purchased a lot of gas over the years between Midtown, Minneapolis and Plymouth, MN. And so much of the time I tend to use my card at the pump so I don't have to go into the store and wait in line, only to feel rushed out by the cashiers' so they can get back to whatever it was they were doing. That being said, a number of years ago I happened upon the Kwik Trip station in Plymouth, this place is by far the cleanest, brightest most efficiently run and friendly gas station I have ever been in. The employees at The Kwik Trip in Plymouth are fantastic, helpful, patient, and attentive and I always take the opportunity to go into the store while I am there just experience the people there. I do have to wait in line periodically but never for long because they often have two or three cashiers working the counter. The other thing that I love about this store is the baked goods and the deli food, it's fresh and tasty and they have dollar cup soups and chili on Mondays! Mmmm...especially on these frigid winter afternoons when I'd rather take a quick break from traffic and enjoy a cup of chili and fresh, warm garlic cheese bread at the sit down counter against the windows. If you get the chance, take a short jaunt over to the Kwik Trip off of 494 in Plymouth, say hi to the staff there and take home one of their delicious pies.

I've been going to this kwik trip for a few years, because it's very conveniently located close to my work. Every time I go, it's usually pretty busy with on-the-go people who are in and out during breakfast and lunch hours due to all the companies near by. The staff have always been friendly. They keep the line moving very well. The food always looks fresh (even for a gas station). Gas stations can feel scary sometimes, but I always feel comfortable going here.

Brandon is a really nice employee! He helped me out and is very personable with customers! Great service!

Here's what's replacing the former Kwik Trip on Wisconsin Avenue | The Buzz

GRAND CHUTE - The former Kwik Trip at 3825 W. Wisconsin Ave. is being demolished to make room for a new retail business.

The Town of Grand Chute has approved the construction of a Carpet City Flooring Center at the location.

The project includes a full redevelopment of the former Kwik Trip site, constructing a new, 10,200 square-foot building. Site access will come from a single driveway on West Wisconsin Avenue with a loading dock on the southeast corner of the building.

Carpet City was founded in Wausau in 1973 and has locations in 12 Wisconsin cities. It's the state's largest floor-covering chain.

Construction on the site has already begun. The developer, Bayland Buildings, did not respond to requests for comments on when the project would be complete.

Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week - April 8

She's from Green Bay. He's from the United Kingdom. On their wedding day, they went head over heels at Kwik Trip.

kwik trip t

GREEN BAY - When James McKenzie-Brown came to Wisconsin from the United Kingdom, he didn’t just fall head over heels for Pati Holschbach.

He fell in love with  Kwik Trip , too.

It was Holschbach first, mind you, and the popular Wisconsin-based convenience store chain second. That’s important to note in a love story that spans 3,903 miles, two and half years and countless Big Buddy fountain drinks.

When it came to their wedding day on March 29, it just seemed right that it was all three of them — a nurse from Green Bay, an armed police officer from London and Kwik Trip store No. 827 on Lombardi Avenue — together in their photos.

Love, Wisconsin style.

To appreciate the sweetness of the photo shoot, at a gas station on the happiest day of their lives, you have to first get to know the couple.

“To tell people our story of how we began, if anybody else would tell me this story, it would sound kind of, I would say, crazy,” Holschbach said.

The two met on Tinder. She was living in Milwaukee at the time and had the distance for potential matches on the dating app set to within 80 miles. He was in Twickenham, just outside London, and had his set to 10 miles. There were 3,903 miles and a whole big pond between them. Their profiles should never have crossed paths but somehow they did.

Love works in mysterious ways.

Within 24 hours, they were talking. Eighteen days later, on Dec. 8, 2021, he flew to Wisconsin to see her. From the moment they said hello to one another, it felt different.

“We both just knew,” Holschbach said.

They felt incredibly comfortable around each other and discovered they had similar senses of humor. They had both chosen the careers they did, because they wanted to help people. They both enjoyed going to estate sales and looking for antiques.

“But one of the things that really attracted me to him and him to me was we both absolutely love animals, like we’re obsessed with dogs and cats,” she said. “We’re the kind of people where anytime we see a dog, we have to point it out, like it’s our first time seeing a dog.”

It was Holschbach’s elderly 15-year-old rescue pitbull, Minnie, who sealed the deal. An excellent judge of character but leery of men due to her past, the first thing she did when McKenzie-Brown came to visit was climb right into his lap and snuggle in.

“She wouldn’t even climb in my lap and I was her mom,” Holschbach said. “Then I just instantly knew. ‘Yep, this is the one.’”

They were engaged on April 13, 2022 — four months and five days after they met.

Big Buddy drinks are their go-to, but you can't beat the fried chicken

Before they could marry, they had to secure a K-1 visa , which allows a U.S. citizen to bring a fiancé or fiancée to the country for the purpose of marriage and becoming a lawful permanent resident. It was a process that stretched across nearly two years and required many back-and-forth trips.

That’s where Kwik Trip enters the story.

McKenzie-Brown found himself “enthralled with all that is Midwest culture” whenever he came to visit. Potluck staples — can’t-miss fare like walking tacos, scotcheroos, Snickers salad and especially beer dip — fascinated him. Being from the U.K., where people love nothing more than to talk about the weather, he also appreciated Wisconsin’s four seasons, sometimes all in the same week, as a goldmine of conversation.

More local flavor YouTuber Nick Johnson spent 3 days in Green Bay, discovered a 'uniquely American' city, super nice people, lots cheese

Holschbach grew up in Green Bay and graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1996. She was well acquainted with the joys of Kwik Trip and its status as a Wisconsin institution. She knew her future husband had to experience it for himself.

“He was like, ‘You want to take me to a gas station?’” she said. “I’m like, ‘Yes! But you just wait, you just wait.’”

He was immediately smitten. He loved it all, from the feeling that he had just walked into a little city all onto itself to the signature “see ya next time” from the clerk on his way out the door.

During the couple’s many trips back and forth to the airport or on the drive up to Green Bay to see Holschbach’s parents, Kwik Trips became a part of their lives. Their go-to is the Big Buddy fountain soda, but the Glazers doughnuts, Cinnabon cinnamon roll-flavored cappuccinos and the cheesy chicken casserole are also among their favorites.

“And you can’t beat their fried chicken,” Holschbach said. “Their fried chicken is really good.”

After the ceremony at the Brown County Courthouse, it was off to Kwik Trip on Lombardi Avenue

One of the conditions of being issued a K-1 visa is that once the fiancé comes to the United States, the couple has just 90 days to get married. That makes planning a large, elaborate wedding nearly impossible, so Holschbach and McKenzie-Brown opted for a small, intimate ceremony with family and a few friends.

There were two things they knew they wanted to be part of the day.

One was a hand-tied bridal bouquet of five dozen white carnations from Petal Pusher Floral Boutique in the Broadway District. Holschbach had worked for owner Nichole Campbell years ago and adored that same bouquet Petal Pusher had created for a wedding expo. She never forgot it.

The other was to have photos taken at Kwik Trip by Erika Krause Photography . Holschbach has known her for 14 years, ever since she was the labor and delivery nurse assigned to the birth of her second child at Aurora BayCare and then again for her third child. Krause was excited to do her first bride-and-groom-at-Kwik Trip photo session.

After the couple exchanged vows in a civil ceremony at the Brown County Courthouse, they headed to a Kwik Trip, where the employee in charge told them not only was it OK to shoot photos inside the store but that it happens all the time.

“They were just the nicest bunch of people,” Holschbach said.

They even gave them a complimentary doughnut as a prop. There are shots of the happy couple with intertwined arms with Big Buddy cups, sharing a smooch in one of the aisles and standing by a cooler door that reads “Cold Beer Enter Here.”

Two of their favorites portraits were taken outside, with Holschbach’s bouquet and McKenzie-Brown’s mini Union Jack flag outshone only by the smiles on their faces.

You might be wondering if there was a Kwik Trip-themed wedding dinner with fancy three-tiered plates of Glazers, platters of fried chicken and barbecue pork rib sandwiches and baskets of reasonably priced bananas. There was not. They did their dining at Italian restaurant Angelina in downtown Green Bay.

Years from now, when they look back at the photographs taken at store No. 827, what might they think?

“I’m sure we’ll probably say, ‘Oh my God, we really had our pictures taken at a gas station.' But that’s just part of our personality,” Holschbach said. “We’ll just more so, I think, remember it for how much fun it was and just how happy everyone was and how supportive they were. It was a great day. It was a very joyous day ... and that’s conveyed in the pictures.”

The couple, who just moved to Kimberly, already know how they’ll celebrate their anniversary each year: a fountain drink at Kwik Trip and dinner at Angelina.

A new Kwik Star convenience store is coming to Johnston. Find out when and where:

A new Kwik Star is coming to Johnston.

A spokesperson for the gas station and convenience store chain confirmed to the Des Moines Register that construction on the new location at 5608 Merle Hay Road began this month. It will replace a former Johnston Community School District administrative building at the intersection with Pioneer Parkway.

Tentative plans call for the new store to open Sept. 5.

A site plan approved by the Johnston City Council in April 2023 shows 20 fuel stations, a 9,200-square-foot store and a detached car wash.

Kwik Star is the Iowa name of the Wisconsin-based chain Kwik Trip — reportedly to avoid confusion with the similarly-named QuikTrip. The company has more than 800 locations in the Midwest.

More: Large sports and recreation complexes, corporate headquarters coming to Johnston in 2024

The rapidly-growing brand is known for its fried chicken, hot meals, baked goods, Karuba coffee drinks and grocery store-style aisles.

Kwik Star has been expanding in the Des Moines metro in recent years and now has over 10 locations across Waukee, Urbandale, Des Moines, Pleasant Hill, Altoona, Ankeny, unincorporated Polk County and Polk City. A new location also has been announced in Norwalk .

Ticket prices for the Trans-Siberian Railway also depend on the current ruble exchange rate.

Is the Trans-Siberian Railway expensive?

Before starting on your Trans-Siberian Railway adventure you naturally want to know what the entire trip will cost. Although this sounds like a simple question, it is pretty difficult to answer. The Trans-Siberian Railway price of travel depends on the following factors:

  • Which travel class do I want to use? The price for a first class ticket is about three times the price of a 3rd class ticket
  • Am I willing to buy the tickets myself and assume responsibility for the organisation of the trip?
  • How many stopovers do I want to make? The more breaks, the higher the total price.
  • What sort of accommodation do I want? Will it be a luxury hotel or will a hostel dormitory be sufficient?
  • What tours and excursions would I like to go on?
  • What is the current exchange rate for rubles?

Basically, everything from a luxury to a budget holiday is available. If you buy yourself a 3rd Class nonstop ticket at the counter, a few hundred Euros will cover the price. All you will experience is a week on the Trans-Siberian train and will see nothing of the cities on the way. There is, however, any amount of room for upward expansion. Everyone makes different choices about which aspects they are willing to spend money on. I personally prefer to save money on accommodation and railcar class, visit as many cities and do as many trips as possible. To enable better classification of your travel expenses I have contrasted two typical traveler types. In the third column you can calculate the total cost of your own journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Please keep in mind that these are only rough estimations and not exact prices.

The all-in costs seem fairly high at first. However, they cover everything and it is quite a long journey taking four weeks. Many people forget to consider that when looking at the list. We should also deduct the running costs for food and leisure at home. I think most visitors to this page will classify themselves somewhere between the two categories, that is around the € 2,000 – € 2,500 range. When comparing these prices with other travel packages, you get the impression that it is hardly worthwhile travelling individually on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Please keep in mind that most packages last no more than 14 days and you are herded like cattle through the most beautiful locations.

If you spend less time on the Trans-Siberian Railway you will, of course, pay less. I chose this particular travel length because I prefer not to do things by halves. If you fulfill your dream of travelling on the Trans-Siberian Railway, enjoy it and don’t rush things. But it’s up to you, of course. Try playing around with the form a bit to find the appropriate price for your trip.

A trip to Moscow

I'm going to organize a trip this summer. I want to plan everything. I’ll fly from London to Moscow, and I also want to visit St. Petersburg. Could you, please, advise me what places I should visit? I’ll stay in Moscow for about 10 days before going to St. Petersburg. Thank you!

Not a country I’d be spending my money in at the moment.

Ditto. Ditto!

I don't really see the point of shunning a country because you don't agree with its leader and/or its government. Would you go to Italy? China? Tourist dollars are more likely to get into the hands of the people rather than any corrupt bureaucracy and meeting friendly tourists might just change the locals opinions of foreigners and even give them some information they don't get from local news media.

Hopefully , I won't be starting a war here , but I must say I agree with Chani's comments . Having taken three year visas in 2015 , we have been to Moscow and St; Petersburg ( once to Moscow , and twice to St Petersburg ) . The History , Art , Music ( I am a classically trained musician ) and Culture , fascinate us . Much to experience there and advance preparation is essential , To get a good grounding for your visit , read this lavish and detailed book by Suzanne Massie , it's one of the best ways to immerse yourself in what you will experience - https://www.amazon.com/Land-Firebird-Beauty-Old-Russia/dp/096441841X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521652009&sr=8-1&keywords=land+of+the+firebird+massie&dpID=51CPK13XKGL&preST=_SX218_BO1,204,203,200_QL40_&dpSrc=srch

And while leaders of such countries can point to foreign visitor numbers as a sign of support ? I also believe that personal safety for certain travellers, especially obvious minorities, cannot be guaranteed, as fervent nationalism increases, and tolerance levels evaporate. Just as I may decide against a purchase at the supermarket because of a company’s behaviour, ethics will always be a consideration.

Well, I'd argue supermarket ethics does not readily translate to travel ethics - the latter is far more complex. Personally, I see the whole "vote with my hard-earned travel dollar" approach as overly simplistic, but if it's your position - I totally respect it.

What I don't understand is members volunteering ethical guidance in response to what seems an innocuous request for travel-related information.

Note a discussion on ethics hosted a year ago by the Webmaster of this very forum.

https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/general-europe/travel-ethics-612334a0-0ca1-4128-b088-c13d1d8a91c3

I appreciate Rick Steves' point of view in his "Travel As A Political Act". That said, Putin's Russia is not a place I would support. But, to each his or her own....

From a practical point of view, travel between the two countries can be difficult. I understand the Russians who traveled in the US this past winter had to go to the US Embassy in the country of Georgia to get visas because the Russians expelled American embassy personnel. If you do travel to Russia, you may be on your own. See the American travel advisory: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/russia-travel-advisory.html

Travel Advisory January 10, 2018 Russia – Level 3: Reconsider travel Reconsider travel to Russia due to terrorism and harassment. Some areas have increased risk. Read the entire Travel Advisory U.S. citizens are often victims of harassment, mistreatment, and extortion by law-enforcement and other officials. U.S. consular assistance to detained individuals is often unreasonably delayed by Russian officials. Russia also enforces special restrictions on dual U.S.-Russian nationals. Due to the Russian government-imposed reduction on U.S. diplomatic personnel in Russia, the U.S. government has reduced ability to provide services to U.S. citizens.

We have traveled to Moscow and St. Petersburg over the past few years. As in the US, most of the people we encountered helpful and not particularly political. In Moscow, we stayed at The Garden Ring Hotel which was a close walk to the metro. The hotel was very comfortable and quiet for being in the city. We loved the art museums and the Georgian restaurants. In St. Petersburg, we stayed at both The 3Mosta hotel near the Hermitage and the Art Hotel Demetra.. In St. Petersburg, we especially liked the Hermitage and Russian museum. Learning the Cyrillic alphabet and having a good map is a must.

As I think the point about ethical considerations has been made, please keep future replies more specific to the question at hand. Thanks.

Either read a good travel book or book a guide who can personally take you to the best places that interest you and tell about the sights you're seeing. We used Dan Petrov on 2 different trips to Moscow and found him to be wonderfully friendly and witty not to mention super knowledgeable.

Latest advice, Australian Governmemt, 1 April 2018. “Due to heightened political tensions, you should be aware of the possibility of anti-Western sentiment or harassment. While the Australian Government is not aware of any increased difficulties for Australians travelling in Russia at this time, you should follow the security and political situation closely and keep up to date with this travel advice. Remain vigilant, avoid any protests or demonstrations and avoid commenting publicly on political developments.”

We very much enjoyed our group trip to Moscow and St Petersburg last year. excellent guides and accommodations. While Steven who has replied here has excellent advice, ( and we took advantage of it), we felt an organized tour really facilitated our enjoyment of the country. You may want to consider a combination of an organized tour and than adding independent days . Some of the Australians on the tour had arrived a couple of days earlier than the tour stated and then some stayed later. If we were to go again (which I would), that"s how I would do it. And I must say , it was enlightening to have conversations with the Russian tour guides and the non Americans about the current world situation. Not that we went into any great depth, but I think we all went away with a little more understanding. Top places: allow lots of time in St Petersburg at the Hermitage- take a separate day for the Impressionist building. In Moscow, the Russian Art Museum was amazing.

Solid advice from Australian government quoted above, especially the keeping up to date part.

I checked the current version (Sep 18) of that advisory - and it hasn't been updated much. In fact, some sections don't seem to have changed since 2005 - their recommendations for importing/exporting currency and financial instruments, for example, are at least five years behind.

I do like reading governmental travel advisories for entertainment purposes - for instance, up until very recently the US one sternly advised potential travelers that Moscow was largely a cash-based economy (couldn't be further from the truth) and warned about intrinsic dangers of gypsy cabs (which had all but disappeared by 2015).
