I was lucky enough to be part of the amazing night at Hamilton Townhouse on 8/10/18. Marti was amazing and the band were spot on. There was so much positive energy in the room, a great bunch of people singing dancing and thoroughly enjoying themselves. Marti knows how to really connect with his audience and let us see a little bit of himself as a person, not just the hugely talented singer,songwriter,performer and actor that he is. Totally fantastic gig. This really was a party with Marti.

Marti Pellow has announced a full solo Popped In Souled Out UK arena tour for 2024.

The former Wet Wet Wet frontman has already sold out London and Glasgow dates for the special shows, which will see him perform songs from his old band's 1987 debut album backed by the Love To Love orchestra.

Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday, March 31 at 9am via LiveNation .

The full 2024 Marti Pellow Popped in Souled Out tour dates are as follows:

"I decided if I was going to do it, it had to be something special, so I agreed to do a one-off at the London Palladium, an iconic venue," Marti said of what was originally going to be a one-off show.

"I thought it would be a great thing to do, as much for myself as for the fans."

He continued: "It was the fastest-selling ticket of my career. Then the fanbase came up from Scotland and said, 'If you don’t do this in Scotland, then don’t bother coming back'. And that was just from family.

"So I put that on sale in Scotland, and once again it was the fastest-selling show of my career – it sold out the same morning."

Marti added: "Then people demanded more shows. It’s such an exciting project for me. I’ve found it inspirational.

" Popped In Souled Out was my first successful record, it was my debut album, and it took me around the world. It facilitated all those dreams I had. It was the catalyst for everything.

"To be able to do orchestrated versions, with strings, has been so inspiring. I believe that these songs are my future, not just my past. It’s the album that just keeps giving to me.

"I know when people hear these songs, it will take them to a time and a place. There'll be people in the audience who fell in love to this music."

Marti recently released his memoir Pellow Talk, and will play further Lost Chapter shows in support of the book this winter.

The singer was a founding member of Wet Wet Wet in the early 1980s.

The group split towards the end of the 1990s but reformed in 2004, but Pellow quit in 2017 to focus on his solo career and was replaced in the lineup by former Liberty X member Kevin Simm .

Question: Why did a generation of people choose my songs as the backdrop to their life? 

The answer is: I don’t know. But I’d like to find out. 

I’ve always been fascinated by family. I see the way a lovely relationship blossoms over the years and that thrills me. I wonder why two people grow together and their bonds become stronger. And when I look at my career as a singer/songwriter, I see the same thing. The relationship between me and you is just as special, it’s just as beautiful. Just as I see family staying together over the decades, I see us staying together for 30 or 40 years. So I ask myself this: what compels people to stay with an artist over such a long period of time? What is it about my work that keeps tapping people on their shoulders? 

Music is important. It’s the thing that lives in the space as life is unfolding. And some of the music from the early part of my career, in Wet Wet Wet, has lived on for two generations. People love those songs and that’s why we still play them. My next tour will be the songs from Popped In, Souled Out and the tour will be a beast – it will be 75 people on stage and five trucks, and enough caterers to feed a small army. The Lost Chapter, in comparison, is a whisper. It’ll give people the chance to see the other side of me, as a songwriter, and to find out a different part of my make-up. 

When we toured Pellow Talk, people went away knowing a lot more about me. And now that we’re touring The Lost Chapter, people will walk away knowing more about my music – my tastes, my loves, and who I am as a singer/songwriter. 

Here’s the thing: I think the best experiences come when we are willing to give a little piece of ourselves. They happen by chance when we’re willing to invest. So I’m asking you to invest a couple of hours of your time in this show, to go somewhere you might not be expecting, and to enjoy that time with me. 

The one thing you can always rely on with me is a great sense of melody and an entertaining evening. So The Lost Chapter won’t be about shoegazing or looking at the floor. You’re not going to come expecting an ice cream and then be served a beef bhuna. But the quality of a musician’s work isn’t dictated by the chart position. If that was the case, I’d have stopped many years ago. Sometimes, the best work is the stuff that gets left on the cutting room floor, it’s the stuff that people are too afraid to share, or too insecure to release. Until now… 

The Lost Chapter is about music but even more than that, it’s about feelings. The evening will have a happy song, a deep song, a song that will transport you. When I was a kid – and, I’m sure, when you were kids – we’d go round to each other’s houses and we’d listen to each other’s records. We’d find out what each other was into over the course of a few hours. And The Lost Chapter will be a bit like that – the only difference being that, as I’m a singer/songwriter, some of those songs will be mine. By the end of the evening, we’ll have shared our music, shared our stories, and shared our emotions. We’ll go home richer for the experience, knowing one another more. 

The wee record that lives in the book was recorded at the start of summer 2023, over 48 hours, with three other musicians. Some of those tunes will be recognisable to some fans – though the versions they’ll hear now are different to the ones they’ve heard before. And I’ll explain why that is – because sometimes, less is more. The bravest thing is to walk away. You don’t need to put cinnamon in the stew. You can leave it be. 

I’ll leave you with one final image. When people talk about women who are naturally beautiful, they say things like this: ‘She doesn’t need that make-up,’ or ‘She doesn’t need to dress up like that,’ or ‘She should just let herself be her.’ And that’s what The Lost Chapter is. It’s about the beauty of the music – it’s about stripping it down rather than dressing it up. It's about me holding your hand and walking you through an evening of song. I hope you enjoy it.

Iconic pop singer and songwriter Marti Pellow is back with his brand-new ‘Popped In Souled Out’ arena tour in 2024.

It follows the two fastest-selling shows of his career – at the legendary London Palladium and Glasgow’s SEC Armadillo. He put tickets on sale for an orchestral version of the four-times-platinum record and both shows sold out instantly – with fans demanding more.

The arena tour follows the successful release of Marti’s book, Pellow Talk , and a run of spoken word shows, all of which also sold out.

Now he’s set to take the UK by storm next in 2024 with his upcoming tour dates in celebration of the 1987 multi-million selling Popped In Souled Out album which established Marti and Wet Wet Wet as one of the greatest talents to ever come out of Scotland. The record earned him a BRIT Award and four platinum discs in the UK alone.

This tour will see Marti bring a truly unique experience for audiences, playing alongside the ‘Love To Love’ orchestra, performing material from the iconic debut album that includes many of the most memorable tracks of a generation, such as “Wishing I Was Lucky”, “Sweet Little Mystery,” “Angel Eyes” and “Temptation.” The tour kicks off in Glasgow on Saturday, March 16 before heading to Manchester, Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle, London, Bournemouth, and Birmingham. Sticking to his love of soulful, confessional love songs and silky, upbeat pop, Pellow's later records Moonlight Over Memphis (2006), Sentimental Me (2008) and Devil And The Monkey (2010) failed to make the same impact and he turned instead to acting, appearing in the musical theatre shows Chess, The Witches Of Eastwick and Blood Brothers. Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station  was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.
