She was very professional & understanding of the situation that the VA scheduled my husband’s surgery on the 24th, a day early. At our age 76 & 79 health issues come up frequently. There has been quite a lot of problems the last few years. Shirley Farmer-Russell

My booking experience with Shauna T
My booking experience with Shauna T. was AWESOME!!!!! It was my first and am POSITIVE that it will not be my last!!! Her enthusiastic query of my interest led to a destination that was NOT on my radar in spite of the intentional perusal of the brochure for months. The spirited conversation erased all angst about possible mistakes. She asked the questions, and I provided the answers in a comfortable space!!! Through the dialogue, I learned that her birthday is the day before mine AND that we both originally from the East Coast, thus a trust factor was established early!!! I am most grateful for her kindness and pleasantry. Our tomorrows are bond to be better than most of our yesterdays! Thank you!!!!

18 defendants face trial after five year investigation into £25million timeshare Monster Group
Crown Prosecution Service authorises the police to press charges
- 10:02, 3 Feb 2022
- Updated 10:06, 3 Feb 2022
A timeshare company boss who I’ve written about previously in my Daily Mirror column is among 18 people facing fraud and money laundering charges.
The Crown Prosecution Service yesterday announced that it has authorised the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit to charge Mark Rowe and 17 others with 79 counts relating to an alleged “large-scale fraud targeting timeshare owners” between January 2013 and 2017.
Rowe, 51, of Taunton and Tenerife, and the others were said to be directors, sales reps or administrators at companies including Monster Group Travel, Monster Rewards and sellmytimeshare.com.
Peter Highway, senior investigating officer from the Crime Unit, said: “This is clearly a significant step forward in a complex fraud investigation that began more than five years ago and has affected thousands who have collectively invested upwards of £25 million.”
Andrew Penhale, Chief Crown Prosecutor said: “The CPS has reviewed a file of evidence from South West Regional Organised Crime Unit and has authorised the investigation team to charge 18 people with 79 offences related to a timeshare fraud.
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against these defendants are now active and that they have the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
The full list of those facing charges is as follows.
Mark Rowe, 51, of Bishops Lydeard in Taunton and Los Blanquitos in Tenerife;
Simon Walker, 55, of Costa Adeje in Tenerife;
Louise Matthews-Oakenfold, 49, of Santa Cruz, Tenerife;
Jodi Beard, 39, of Costa Adeje, Tenerife;
Deborah Frost, 58, of Edificio El Jable, Tenerife;
Samantha McCaulay (nee Jackson), 48, of San Miguel De Abona, Tenerife;
Joanne Physick, 42, of Los Christianos Arona, Tenerife;
Paul Harrison, 51, of Osmington, Weymouth, Dorset;
Nihat Salih, 53, of Upton, Poole, Dorset;
Lisa Salih, 52, of Upton, Poole, Dorset;
Nicola Rowe, 50, of Bishops Lydeard in Taunton and Los Blanquitos in Tenerife;
Barry Fox, 66, of Battenhall Place, Worcester;
David Taylor, 62, of Shiptonthorpe, East Yorkshire;
Paul Fowler, 63, of Wimborne Road, Bournemouth;
Lee Evans, 48, of Walmer Bridge, Preston, Lancashire;
Ian Frost, 50, of Edificio El Jable, Tenerife;
Josephine Cuthill-Fox, 57, of Battenhall Place, Worcester;
Joanne Taylor, 47, of Shiptonthorpe, East Yorkshire.
The first hearing is scheduled for 31 March at Westminster Magistrates' Court, London.

Most reviews are regarding customer service. Does anyone have reviews of the locations and trips where they stayed using these packages?
I have several packages. Was unable to use them until recently. Now I'm in the 'Vacation of the Month Club". Most locations are a 5+ and none lower than 4 - in my mind. I have never been disappointed.
Email deleted by mistake.... we went on 4day 3night trip with tour, Need to make reservations for next trip. How do I get my PACKAGE INFORMATON AGAIN?
I'd suggest finding the old e-mail when they sent your itinerary before you took the trip. Reggie Moon

Donnie Myers was very helpful looking up available hotels overseas. He even checked out what was available in the states during my set months I wanted to go. He was willing to book today however I still had to confirm with my travel partner.
She was pleasant and helpful , tried to find a good vacation for me , maybe I will call her later because she tried so hard to help
The people that I talked to were very professional and presented everything to my understanding. Only negative I had that after I paid one fee there there was another charge. Other than that I am looking forward to our visit.
Positives: Amber either helped or was patient while I checked on airfare, location features Etc. Negatives: It was not until after I had agreed and as part of the confirmation process did I find out there was an extra service fee, despite having asked explicitly if there were any other fees. Also it was only then that I was told there was a mandatory. 2 hour presentation, which I was told would not be the case when I purchased my package. Based on these two I declined to proceed, but that meant I have wasted my time and hers picking out the resort. I am disappointed that I did not get an accurate answer about other fees and also that the presentation requirement was not brought up right up front, because had I known that I wouldn't have spent any further time on it. I already attended one mandatory presentation in Las Vegas and was told on the other trips there would not be.
Very disappointing experience. Paid over $400 and got booked to a $60 a night "resort" on the day of arrival that was not the confirmed destination in Myrtle Beach. I called to ask if there was anything they could do to make it right and was told it was out of their hands. I should have gone with my gut and canceled the moment this was revealed to be a discounted vacation in exchange for participating in a timeshare presentation. I suppose I took a gamble and lost, but it feels like a scam on the part of Monster and Enjoi.
My recent encounter with Morgan Ward, a travel agent at Monster Reservations, was truly outstanding. Despite not proceeding with a booking, Morgan went above and beyond by spending over 45 minutes meticulously explaining my rights and travel regulations. Her depth of expertise and genuine commitment to ensuring I was well-informed left a lasting impression. Throughout our conversation, Morgan's passion for her work was palpable. She approached our interaction with a level of care and dedication that is rare to find. Not only did she provide thorough explanations, but she also took the time to understand my specific needs and preferences, offering tailored advice and recommendations. Morgan's exceptional service reflects positively on Monster Reservations as a whole. Her professionalism and personalized approach set a standard of excellence in customer service. Thanks to Morgan's expertise and genuine care, I wholeheartedly recommend Monster Reservations to anyone seeking a travel agency that prioritizes their clients' satisfaction.
I was fortunate to speak to Heather Steven's today and she was wonderful. She helped me navigate my vacation package and make some decisions. I highly recommend her!
Review is for Asia in costumer service. She was good and I want her to be recognized. However, the company is deceptive.
Miguel Bryant is outstanding!! He went above and beyond to ensure that all my questions were answered and set me up with a wonderful vacation! Five stars is not enough for the service that he delivers.
helped me out and made sure I understood the promo well. Was very good at explaining the process.

Monster Motorhomes: Inside The World's Biggest RVs
Posted: April 25, 2024 | Last updated: April 25, 2024
Explore these supersized mobile mansions
The sprawling living spaces inside these massive motorhomes are kitted out with everything you could need to live a life of luxury out on the open road. From the "apocalypse-grade" RV built for an Australian outback adventure to the monster motorhomes of the Hollywood elite, the world's largest RVs could persuade even the most diehard homebody to set off on a freewheeling adventure.
Click or scroll on through this gallery to explore eight of the largest land yachts and mobile mansions on the planet today...
*Prices are correct at the time of publication
SLRV motorhome for a family of eight: 40 feet
Commissioned by a family of eight planning an epic adventure exploring Australia's remotest areas, this mammoth motorhome was built by Gold Coast firm SLRV Expedition Vehicles in 2017.
The luxury RV maker had a challenge on its hands creating an extra-large high-end motorhome that could cut it in the Australian outback, where the terrain can be treacherous and weather can range from blistering heat to dust storms and cyclones.
SLRV went all out and responded with an “apocalypse-grade” vehicle. The robust Commander 8x8 is built on a military-grade MAN TGS truck base, with walls up to five inches thick and durable double-glazed windows.
At 40 feet long, the Commander 8x8 ranks among the biggest RVs in the world. The vast motorhome runs on lithium batteries fuelled by solar panels and a diesel-powered backup generator and alternator.
The Commander 8x8 may be as tough as nails but it doesn't scrimp on comfort. Ducted AC and heating make for the perfect temperature 24/7 and the lounge area has plush leather seating for up to 10 people.
The kitchen is loaded with appliances, including two fridges and two microwave ovens. As a bonus, the bathroom is spacious and has a full-sized shower supplied by tanks that can hold hundreds of gallons of water.
Like pretty much every other extra-large RV, the Commander 8x8 has its very own double bedroom, a five-star touch you just won't find in a smaller motorhome. The cosy space is decked out with a widescreen TV, built-in storage and large picture windows. There are actually four TVs in the motorhome, which isn't short on amenities.
The pièce de résistance though has got to be the amazing lifting roof that can be raised at the push of a button to add an extra storey to the vehicle. Accessed by a floating staircase, this level has six single beds and a large TV. Impressively, the RV can sleep 10 people in total as the seating downstairs can be converted into a double bed.
As you might have guessed, all this didn't come cheap, with the cost of this particular custom job estimated at between $670,000 (£528k) and $1.3 million (£1m).
eleMMent palazzo Superior: 45 feet
The Ferrari of RVs, the eleMMent palazzo Superior from Austrian manufacturer Marchi Mobile is the last word in luxury road-tripping. And retailing at $2.1 million (£1.7m), it's among the priciest motorhomes in the world.
The most expensive on record, a $7.7 million (£6.1m) marvel from Germany's Volkner that comes with a Bugatti Chiron, is too small for this round-up. In contrast, the eleMMent palazzo Superior is an extraordinary 45 feet long and offers 732 square feet of living space.
Marchi Mobile got very creative with the exterior and drew on racing car, yacht and aviation designs to create the unique RV, which wows with a fishbowl-style cockpit. Intended to showcase the views, the design features an ingenious adjustable sun protection system to block out unwanted rays.
Yacht-inspired porthole windows dot the sides of the futuristic-looking motorhome, which has thick, carbon-fibre walls for optimum insulation without adding much weight.
Checking out the interior, it's no surprise the millionaire motorhome has been described as a mansion on wheels. Going refreshingly against the traditional layout we see in motorhomes, the vehicle's living spaces look like they belong in a superyacht instead of a road vehicle.
The sumptuous living area has a 13-foot sofa, a jumbo TV screen, a well-stocked kitchen with an ice machine, parquet-style flooring, mood lighting and other deluxe touches.
Bedrooms on RVs don't get a whole lot grander than this stunning space. According to Marchi Mobile, the ornate king-sized bed is made by the same company that supplies beds to the British Royal Family and is considered the most comfortable in the world.
The adjacent spa bathroom is equally impressive, with a 16-square-foot glazed rainfall shower with a light therapy function and a sit-down vanity area for on-the-road pampering.

Like the Commander 8x8, the motorhome's most outstanding feature is its retractable roof. It can be instantly raised to conjure up a rooftop nightclub.
This glamorous Sky Lounge is a party-lover's dream, with a heated dancefloor, a covered seating area and a top-of-the-range Steinway Lyngdorf music system.
Vin Diesel’s monster trailer: 53 feet
RVs that stretch to 50 feet long or more are few and far between. Among the small number of mega-sized motorhomes are a selection of superstar trailers that now live at the 7744 Ranch , a glamping park on the outskirts of Austin, Texas.
The collection includes Vin Diesel's former trailer, which is called The Aspen .
Spanning a whopping 53 feet in length, the monster trailer encompasses 1,200 square feet of living space. The Aspen, or Comfy Cabin as it was formerly known, has all the trappings of an A-list celebrity motorhome .
Anderson Mobile Estates, which owns the glamping park, built the trailer in the early 2000s for Vin Diesel and it appears he leased the model until the early 2010s. It reportedly travelled with him to movie sets in Puerto Rico for Fast and Furious , and Canada while the star was filming Riddick: Dead Man Stalking, as well as other locations around the world.
The RV has since undergone a makeover but retains its homely yet luxe vibe.
The living area is stylishly furnished with linen sofas, while this roomy office contains space to work as well as a putting green of all things. The interiors resemble a regular home rather than an RV, with little built-in seating and lots of freestanding furniture.
The Aspen has two bathrooms, including one with a large granite waterfall shower. Even some of the largest and most high-end motorhomes have only a single bathroom, so this is quite an unusual feature.
Vin Diesel's former trailer also contains a proper kitchen, with a full-sized oven and stove, a Viking fridge-freezer, microwave and other top-of-the-range appliances. Then there's the highlight of this expertly crafted vehicle: the expandable hydraulic second floor, which can be raised in seconds.
The Hollywood action star had his master bedroom on the upper level and converted some of the floor space into a children's playroom, but this has since been repurposed as an additional sleeping area. Valued at up to $2 million (£1.6m), the trailer is currently available to rent if you fancy holidaying like an A-lister.
Jennifer Lopez's mammoth motorhome: 53 feet
Originally named Baby Girl, the Lux Lounge is Jennifer Lopez's former home on location – and it's quite something. “One of the most modern and comfortable” RVs at the 7744 Ranch, the glam unit is the same size as the other monster motorhomes at the resort: 53 feet long, with 1,200 square feet of living space.
Mirroring The Aspen, it's also valued at $2 million (£1.6m) and available to rent.
The lounge on the first level can be used as a living area or screening room. A luxurious spot to unwind, it features an opulent black leather sofa, club chairs and other swish pieces of furniture.
It would've been the perfect place for the superstar to kick back, read up on a movie script or conduct a high-level meeting with Hollywood execs.
Though she probably has a private chef at hand, J.Lo loves to cook and she was very well-catered for with this trailer. The lounge moves into a full-sized kitchen, which is equipped with a three-door Sub-Zero fridge-freezer, a two-burner cooktop, a convection microwave and a large sink.
There's also a marble bathroom elsewhere on this level with a walk-in glass shower.
As with The Aspen, J.Lo's former mansion on wheels rises at the touch of a button to create an upper level. Upstairs, you'll find a party lounge with just enough space for a mini dancefloor, an ideal spot to practice your dance moves.
The space is also graced by two wide-screen TVs.
Among the standout features on the upper level are the sleek bar and the U-shaped leather sofa, which converts into a queen-sized bed. Mood lighting is inset into the ceiling, which features a unique, undulating surface design.
Intriguingly, The Lux Lounge was also leased to Mariah Carey, when it was dubbed the "Skyscraper on Wheels".
Will Smith's sprawling RV: 53 feet
The first monster trailer built by Anderson Mobile Estates, The Heat was created in the early 2000s and was first called The Studio. Will Smith fell in love with the humongous RV and had it customised to his exacting standards.
The tricked-out trailer is said to have cost $2.5 million (£2m). A revolutionary RV, The Heat was the first motorhome to feature a hydraulic expandable roof, as well as four slide-out segments.
Like its counterparts on the 7744 Ranch, the 53-foot-long motorhome has 1,200 square feet of living space. With all that space and interiors that look like they belong in a superyacht, the Hollywood actor certainly didn't have to rough it while on location.
Smith is said to have lived in the trailer while filming Ali, Men in Black III and The Pursuit of Happyness .
Divided by automatic doors that the designer dubs " Star Trek doors", the interiors seemingly go on and on. The first level is made up of a living area that includes a large chef's kitchen with $200,000 (£157k) granite countertops, couches covered in the finest Italian leather and exquisite custom wood cabinetry, including a table hand-crafted from Carpathian elm.
This floor also contains a makeup station and lounge area that Smith used as a wardrobe and dressing room. The bathroom is equally as opulent as the rest of the RV, with a sauna shower and a glass door that turns opaque at the push of a button.
As with the other models on the 7744 Ranch, the game-changing retractable upper level was made for entertaining. Its hero feature is the drop-down 100-inch screen with automatic shades that transforms the space into a 30-person cinema, which was no doubt put to good use when Smith was in residence.
In total, the trailer has an impressive 14 TVs.
There's a bedroom on the upper floor too, separated from the movie theatre by a sliding door, which features a queen-sized bed. The 7744 Ranch also rents out The Studio, Simon Cowell's former RV.
Anderson Mobile Estates has also created motorhomes for other world-famous VIPs, including Bill Clinton, Whitney Houston, Sharon Stone, Shakira and Sly Stallone .
SpaceCraft's custom trailer: 54 feet
Missouri-based SpaceCraft creates some of the longest, most beautifully decked-out trailers on the market. Established in 1962, it's the only company in the US to make fully customised fifth wheel, travel trailer and semi RV units.
SpaceCraft allows its clientele extensive customisation options to create a space that's perfect for their needs, meaning each trailer made by the company is a one-off design.
As you can see in this custom design, the décor is simple and elegant, with a smart, traditional feel. Space is cleverly used and quality fixtures and fittings add to the high-spec finish. The living area flows well and is a cut above the sort of interior you'd expect to find in an RV.
In this particular model, the sleek kitchen features beautiful dark cabinetry with gold-hued hardware and even a stunning marble-topped preparation island.
SpaceCraft's larger models are popular choices for Hollywood types it would seem, as the company has provided models to the movie industry. This particular interior looks the part, just the sort of place for a star to relax in style between takes.
The flexibility to deck out each trailer to a buyer's specification is clearly a draw for the company's high-profile clients.
The RV is powered by a diesel generator and there are built-in water tanks that can hold hundreds of gallons. SpaceCraft is said to own a patent on its slide-out room design and its RVs make full use of this technology, which the company has perfected over the years.
This super-trailer was built as a green unit, with a roof covered in solar panels capable of generating around 10,000W of solar power. It also has a 108 kWh battery, so you could run the entire unit off the sun or charge an electric vehicle.
Thanks to its sophisticated electrical systems and up-market finish, this 54-footer cost just over $800,000 (£630.4k).
SpaceCraft's super semi: 57 feet
Another SpaceCraft creation, this monster motorhome belongs to an elite group of super-large trailers and measures a massive 57 feet in length. Hollywood celebrities aren't the only buyers of SpaceCraft's mega-trailers.
Back in 1970, they responded to an increased demand for larger two-bedroom trailers by the circus and carnival industries. This impressive unit was designed for carnival use – it even has a rear office.
Kitchen amenities in typical models feature full-sized state-of-the-art appliances, including dishwashers. This design has a sleek double sink, a quartz-topped kitchen island, fully fitted units, a mosaic backsplash and striking pendulum lights.
The kitchen is part of an open-plan space that includes a dining table and chairs, as well as a living area with built-in units, wall-mounted wide-screen TV and some seriously comfy-looking leather recliners.
Clients can also opt for a myriad of niche add-ons such as custom mood lighting, an entertainment system, a gym and a makeup room. The customers who ordered this sleek unit opted for a chic office space with built-in desks, stained walnut cupboards and glossy porcelain floor tiles, which run through most of the trailer.
According to SpaceCraft, they can do anything within the parameters of regulations, imagination, budget, and physics, so there's a plethora of bathroom design options – you could even design your very own mobile spa. This layout includes a spacious shower and decorative hand basin with another distinctive mosaic backsplash.
Clients can choose to have up to three king-size bedrooms in their bespoke trailer, which can also feature expansive entertaining areas, multiple bathrooms and an array of other luxe amenities. Price-wise, SpaceCraft's semi platforms cost $8,000 to $9,000 (£6.3k-£7k) per linear foot.
This 57-foot trailer costs around $500,000 (£394k) but they can easily go beyond a million dollars given the almost limitless customisation choices.
DerBus colossal articulated motorhome: 59 feet
This veteran colossus of a vehicle, which featured 170 seats, was built back in 1975. Debuting as the first double-decker articulated bus, known as the Neoplan Jumbocruiser, it was unveiled in Frankfurt, Germany, and scored a spot in that year's Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest bus ever.
Fast-forward to 1995 and auto enthusiast Manfred Esterbauer resurrected this icon of German design and engineering, renaming it DerBus . According to autoevolution , only 11 such buses were ever made.
Esterbauer undertook a painstaking three-year renovation of the 59-foot behemoth. The revamp involved refinishing the chassis in aluminium, installing a roof terrace, security system and more.
Esterbauer's transformation caught the attention of the Guinness World Records again, and in 1997, the vehicle made its second appearance in its annual book – but this time as the world's largest luxury vehicle.
The first level now features eight passenger seats tucked behind the driver's cab, along with a mobile office of sorts. There's a 10-person meeting room and several smaller conference rooms for doing business on the go.
On the same level, there's also a plush VIP lounge with a bar, decorated with an opulent material palette of marble, chrome, hardwood, steel and leather.
The upper deck contains a capacious living area, a full kitchen, a master bedroom, guest bedrooms and a large bathroom with a shower. There's also a secondary bedroom at the opposite end of the level, fitted out with bunks that can sleep up to four people.
The bus was bought in 2004 by a company called Omnibushandel Mario Roettgen (OMR), and despite attempting to sell it on at least one occasion, they still own the vehicle.
Just look at these vintage fixtures, from the semi-circular vinyl sofas to the Formica countertops. Capable of hosting hundreds of guests, these days DerBus is leased for trade events, shows and tours.
The venerable record-breaker often gets carted out and even played a starring role in the 2023 Busworld Europe trade show in Brussels, Belgium.
CMC Caravan's custom mega-motorhomes: up to 61 feet
Italy's CMC Caravan rules the roost when it comes to totally custom motorhomes. The manufacturer's largest bespoke creations extend to a jaw-dropping maximum of 61 feet in length and resemble hip boutique hotel rooms.
The company is a pioneer of slideouts – CMC was the first firm to create a trailer equipped with five – and its RVs each feature several, which provide swathes of additional floor space when you park your motorhome up.
The company's Elyse design is said to cost around $1.5 million (£1.2m), which gives you a general idea of the price points for the custom designs. CMC Caravan's models are available across the world, but the company's clientele is mostly from the US.
Built to last, the one- and two-storey vehicles are strengthened by the use of stainless steel, which makes them exceedingly hard-wearing and durable. With around 1,180 square feet to play with depending on the spec, the spaciousness of the units is astounding.
Each model can fit a substantial sofa and a dining table and chairs, plus a kitchen island and more.
The kitchens are virtually full-sized, with sprawling marble countertops, stunning cabinetry and state-of-the-art lighting, as well as top-end appliances and gadgets. The finish throughout their projects is exquisite, and the company is especially discerning about the materials they use.
Across the various configurations of their custom models, the sprawling motorhome can include two ample bedrooms that look to be the biggest in any RV we've seen. With each room large enough to accommodate a king-sized bed, side tables, cabinets and a wardrobe, these motorhomes feel like opulent houses, rather than souped-up trailers!
As is the case with only a select few extra-large motorhomes, CMC Caravan has two regular-sized bathrooms, including one spa-like haven that houses a bathtub, which is an incredibly rare sight in an RV. While CMC Caravan's 61-foot models may seem gargantuan, the biggest RV in history measured an even bigger 65 feet.
Built in the 1950s by the Mid-States Corporation, the articulated Executive Flagship mega-cruiser rocked a sun deck, storage for an inflatable swimming pool and other extraordinary amenities.

Moscow Travel Guide: Best Things to Do + More [2023]
· everything to know about visiting moscow, including the best things to do and how to get around. ·.
Moscow is Russia’s vibrant capital city, and it also happens to be the largest city in all of Europe. The city’s long and infamous history makes it one of the most unique places we have ever visited.
The architecture ranges from centuries-old palaces to uniform, gray concrete buildings. The people range from cold and private to warm and welcoming. Moscow is a city is strong juxtapositions, and we learned a lot during our time there.
This post will break down all you need to know about visiting Moscow, including the best things to do, how to get there, how to get around, and more.
The Best Things to Do in Moscow
1. explore the red square.
The Red Square is the heart of Moscow. Most of the city’s top attractions can be found here, including just about everything on this list. The Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, and Lenin’s Mausoleum are all located here, and the State Historical Museum and GUM are not far from here, either.
The Red Square is a common home for parades, protests, and seasonal celebrations. There are massive Christmas celebrations here, with food vendors and carnival rides set up in numbers.
2. Check Out the Ziferblat
The Ziferblat is a café in Moscow that is unlike any café we have ever been to. While most cafes charge you for your drinks and food, the Ziferblat charges you for your time.
Upon arrival, you are given a clock. When you leave, the barista calculates how much time you spent in the café and charges you accordingly. This concept was created to help visitors to be more intentional with their time, and the cafe itself is incredibly charming.
For a detailed look at everything you need to know before you visit, make sure you read my post about visiting the Ziferblat Cafe in Moscow .
3. Marvel at St. Basil’s Cathedral
St. Basil’s Cathedral is one of the most iconic churches in the world, and it was the single thing we were most excited to see while in Moscow. Built almost 500 years ago, St. Basil’s Cathedral is recognized by its colorful domes and whimsical style. The church is of the Russian Orthodox faith, and the inside is just as wondrous as the outside.
St. Basil’s Cathedral is located on the edge of the Red Square, making it incredibly convenient to visit. Entrance for non-worshippers costs 800 rubles, and tickets can be bought at the church
4. Explore the Kremlin
The Kremlin is the largest active fortress in Europe, and it is the site of most of Russia’s government affairs. In addition to government buildings, the Kremlin Complex is filled with courtyards, towers, and museums that are open to the public. If you have the time, you could spend a couple of days fully exploring all that there is to see in the Kremlin.
5. Walk Through Lenin’s Mausoleum
Vladimir Lenin is one of the most important figures in Russian history, and his body is located perfectly embalmed in a mausoleum in the Red Square. The Mausoleum is open to the public to visit, and as long as you are willing to go through a few security checks, it is easily one of the best things to do in Moscow. Its convenient location in the Red Square makes it a can’t miss attraction.
There is absolutely no photography allowed inside the Mausoleum. Do not test this rule.
6. Wander Along Arbat Street
The Arbat is a very popular street in Moscow that is lined with stores, cafes, and other touristy attractions. It is one of the oldest streets in the city, dating back to the 1400s. This street is both quaint and trendy, and there are many walking tours that introduce tourists to the neighborhood’s wonders and highlights.
7. Catch a Show at the Bolshoi Theatre
As a lover of the arts, it is hard to think of Moscow and not think of ballet. Russia has always been a top dog in the world of fine arts, and Bolshoi Theater is one of the best places to catch a performance. We were lucky enough to attend an Opera here, and it is a venue that you don’t want to miss out on if you enjoy opera, ballet, or orchestral performances.
8. Visit the State Historical Museum
The State Historical Museum is one of the most respected museums in Moscow. Despite its name, it is not really focused on the history of Russia as a nation. Rather, it contains a collection of artifacts from all throughout Russia’s history.
The museum’s collection is very broad in nature. It houses some items from indigenous tribes that used to occupy the region, pieces collected by the Romanov family, and more.
9. Wander Around GUM
GUM is an absolutely massive mall within walking distance of the Red Square. It isn’t just the size that draws visitors here; it’s the sense of luxury. The mall is so beautiful inside, much like the metro stations.
While visiting a mall might not sound like it belongs on a bucket list, this mall does. You will not want to miss out on visiting GUM while in Moscow.
10. Admire the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour
While St. Basil’s Cathedral is the most iconic church in Moscow, it isn’t the only one. The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is absolutely stunning, with massive golden domes. It is the tallest Orthodox church in the world, and it is the seat of the Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow.
It is located just about a mile from the Red Square, just south of the Kremlin Complex. You can walk to it from the Red Square in about 20 minutes.
How to Get to Moscow
Flying to moscow.
Moscow has three major international airports: Sheremetyevo (SVO) , Domodedovo (DMO) , and Vnukovo (VKO) . All three of them are directly connected to downtown Moscow by the Aeroexpress trains, which leave every 30 minutes throughout the day. By Aeroexpress train, you can expect to get to the city center in 25-45 minutes depending on the airport that you fly into.
Sheremetyevo is the biggest and busiest of the three airports, and it is the one you are most likely to fly into – especially if you are coming from outside of Europe or the Caucus region. We flew into Sheremetyevo on a direct flight from New York City.
I usually provide backup airport options, because flying right into the city isn’t always the cheapest way to get where you’re going. Unfortunately, when it comes to Moscow, don’t really have a choice other than to fly right into Moscow. It is a very remote city, and it is usually the cheapest place to fly into in Russia as a whole.
Since Sheremetyevo is so busy, you will probably find a great flight option anyway. I wrote in my post about finding cheap flights that using hub airports will lead to more affordable airfare, and the same logic applies here. Even though Russia’s national airline, Aeroflot, is no longer a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, Moscow is still a major hub connecting passengers from all over the world.

Train or Bus to Moscow
Trains and buses are one of the most popular ways to get around Europe. However, they’re of very little use when you’re trying to get to Moscow.
Moscow is hundreds of miles from the nearest major cities. The only major European city that can even be reached within 8 hours on the ground is St. Petersburg, and even the Baltic capitals of Riga, Vilnius, and Tallinn are over 12 hours away.
If you want to get to Moscow, the best option is almost always to fly. While the train routes to Moscow are scenic, they simply take forever.
How to Get Around Moscow
METRO | TROLLEYS | TRAMS | BUSES
Moscow has one of the most memorable metro systems in the world. Its metro lines are very deep underground, and the stations are absolutely stunning. Each station has its own unique style, but all of them contain escalators that seem to go on forever.
The system was built in an effort to showcase the power of the Soviet Union and its bright future. The plans were a form of propaganda, but they resulted in what is still one of the most visually appealing subway systems on earth.
Moscow’s metro system isn’t just pretty. It is also very useful and accessible. The system has 17 lines that connect the city and its surrounding area.
But wait; there’s more!
The Moscow metro system is also incredibly affordable, with each ride costing less than a dollar. The metro is by far the best way to get around Moscow, as it is almost impossible to beat the connection times and the low cost to ride.
Tickets can be bought at electronic, English-speaking kiosks in stations, or directly from ticket counters at certain larger stations. There are also day passes available, which are a very solid option if you plan on riding the metro several times per day.
The metro is by far the best way to get around Moscow.
In addition to the metro system, Moscow also has a network of buses, trams, and trolleys. This system is nowhere near as convenient or well-connected as the metro, though, and is likely of little use to you during your trip. There is no Uber in Moscow, but a similar app named Yandex is available if you need a ride in a pinch.
How Many Days Do You Need in Moscow?
Moscow is the biggest city in all of Europe, and it is absolutely loaded with things to do. You could spend weeks in Moscow and still find new things to do. Of course, most travelers don’t have that kind of time to spend in one place!
I recommend spending no less than three full days in Moscow, and ideally closer to five or seven.
Moscow is very spread out, and it can take some time to get from one major point to another. There are also so many places that are nice to just sit back and relax, which is hard to do when you’re in a hurry trying to cram activities into just a few days.
If you only have a week to visit Russia, I’d advise spending all of the time in one city. If you decide to split your time between Moscow and St. Petersburg, I recommend not trying to squeeze in any day trips beyond those two cities.
When Is the Best Time of the Year to Visit Moscow?
There are two different ways to approach this question. Personally, I think the best time to visit Moscow is around Christmas and New Year’s Day. While the weather will be absolutely freezing, Moscow is a surreal winter wonderland in December and January.
We were in Moscow right before Christmas. While it was very cold, you can always bundle up. Exploring the Christmas markets and pop-up ice skating rinks throughout Moscow is one of my favorite memories from anywhere I’ve traveled, and I dream of going back to do it again.
If you aren’t fond of the cold, Moscow is beautiful in the summer. It tends to get pretty cold in the shoulder seasons, so if you want warm weather, you should plan to visit in the summer. Moscow actually gets pretty warm in July and August, and there are a bunch of fantastic places to soak up the sun within the city.
The best time to visit Moscow is either around Christmas or from late May to August.
Is Moscow Safe to Visit?
While Moscow is a truly wonderful city, there’s no denying that visiting Russia comes with risks. As the country is run by an infamous communist dictator, concerns about visiting are valid. While we didn’t experience any sort of threat or negative treatment during our time in Moscow, we visited in a peaceful time.
In our experience, Russia doesn’t seem to detain normal Americans or Westerners to use as pawns. As a regular person, as long as you don’t commit any crimes, there is a slim chance you will run into any issues. However, Russia will not hesitate to enforce its laws against foreigners, and illegal behaviors will likely land you in a very compromising position.
Russia will not hesitate to enforce its laws against foreigners, and illegal behaviors will likely land you in a very compromising position.
To make matters worse, Russia has a bad reputation for gang violence. While the Russian mafia has very little interest in normal Western tourists, they won’t hesitate to pick a fight with anyone who ventures into their sphere of influence. If you seek out illegal substances or activities, you could be a target of the mafia.
If you seek out illegal substances or activities, you could be a target of the mafia.
Finally, since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, things are all very different. Russia is currently at war, and there are battles raging within 8 hours of Moscow. While it is still relatively safe to visit, that could change at any time as the war with Ukraine continues.
Is Moscow Worth Visiting?
Without a doubt, Moscow is worth visiting. It is one of the most unique major cities we have ever visited, and we hope to make it back one day. The Russian Orthodox churches are stunning, the city’s history is unlike any other, and the food is to die for.
While many visitors prefer St. Petersburg to Moscow, I think Moscow deserves a lot of hype of its own. Moscow is the beating heart of Russian culture and history, and it’s a place I highly recommend checking out if you have the chance.
That’s all we have for you about Moscow! I hope this post was helpful as you plan your trip to Russia’s capital.

Moscow is a monster: Here's what it takes to sustain this mega-city for just 1 day
1. 12.5 million people live in Moscow. If all of them stood in a line and held hands, they’d cover a distance of 21,800 km (just over half the length of the equator!). If the line started in the center of Moscow, the person standing exactly half-way would end up in Rio de Janeiro, which is 11,000 km from Moscow.
2. The average Muscovite is 175 cm tall, so if someone could carry all of the city’s residents on his shoulders, those at the top of this huge pyramid (21,000 km high) would end up in the exosphere and see spacecraft fly by (providing they’re wearing a spacesuit).
3. The population of Moscow is the equivalent of the population of Finland, New Zealand, Qatar and Mauritius combined.
4. Moscow is just as big as Luxembourg (2,500 km2), and can hold exactly 5,700 Vaticans.
5. You need a lot of food to feed such a big city, and Muscovites need 32,877 tons of it each day, which is approximately the same as 234 blue whales (one blue whale weighs 140 tons).
6. Muscovites eat 300 tons of ice cream on a summer’s day, an amount which equates to 50 elephants (one elephant weighs 6 tons).
7. If we drink on average two liters of water a day, this means that Moscow needs 25 million liters of fresh water on a daily basis. This amount of water could fill the entire Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Just imagine, an entire pool in one day.
8. Muscovites also need to wash! Nearly 200 liters of water per person are needed per day just to fill all the baths, flush all the toilets and service all the technical facilities in the city. This huge volume of water could fill 100 Lincoln pools just in one day!
9. In Moscow, there is an astounding number of apartments and houses. Russians measure the size of their home in square meters. According to the Federal Service for State Statistics, the total floor space of all homes in the city in 2016 was 237 million square meters. This is 50 percent more than the total area of Liechtenstein, and includes all of its buildings, forests, mountains and fields.
10. Muscovites love their cars. There are 4.9 million cars in total in the city. A round trip to work and back by car uses up 3.6 liters of fuel. If one liter of AI-95 costs 66 cents, this means that Muscovites burn $11.5 million worth of gasoline daily. This figure may vary depending on the classification and type of fuel, but with this amount you could finance an entire election campaign for the U.S. Senate, buy your own castle or an exotic island!

This 8-foot-long ‘saber-toothed’ salmon wasn’t quite what we thought
For years, paleontologists thought this ancient salmon was like a saber-toothed cat, but now facial reconstruction offers a brand new look.
When paleontologists announced the discovery of the largest salmon to have ever lived in 1972, they thought they had found the aquatic equivalent of the saber-toothed cats that roamed the landscape when this fish was alive between 12 and 5 million years ago.
The eight-foot-long fish was believed to have had two curved teeth jutting down from its upper jaw. But now, a new reconstruction has fundamentally altered the face of this iconic fish, proposing instead that its impressive teeth stuck out sideways from its snout—like a warthog.
In an April study published in PLOS ONE , experts present a new vision of the spike-toothed salmon, formally known as Oncorhynchus rastrosus . The changes to the salmon’s face reflect new knowledge about the fish gleaned from the fossil record. In 2016 , paleontologists found that the ancient salmon’s distinctive teeth changed as the fish aged, growing as the salmon reached adulthood and transitioned from the sea to freshwater.
This study, by Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine paleoecologist Kerin Claeson and colleagues, now finds that the fish’s famous teeth stuck out sideways like tusks.
A bold new look
Refining what the fish looked like rested on both new fossil finds and a reanalysis of the first fossils to be described half a century ago. Among the earliest finds, the part of the jaws holding the prominent teeth were disarticulated from the rest of the skull. “Part of the reason why scientists didn’t recognize the position of the teeth at first was because they were all found in isolation,” Claeson says. A downward, saber-like position seemed reasonable given that no other known fish had such teeth.
But in 2014, paleontologists searching a locality in Oregon found new fossil skulls of Oncorhynchus rastrosus that showed the prominent teeth still in articulation. Combined with CT scans of the original finds, the new fossils confirmed that different sexes of the spike-toothed salmon had the prominent teeth in adulthood.
Finding the spikes on different salmon sexes came as a surprise to the researchers. “When I talked to the collectors of the 2014 fossils, they kept finding fossils in close proximity in such a way they were likely breeding pairs, which both possessed the enormous spikes,” Claeson says. All spike-toothed salmon started to go through skull changes as they approached adulthood, each fish growing the iconic spikes.
“The new reconstruction is supported by very convincing evidence,” notes University of Alberta paleontologist Mark Wilson, who was not involved in the new study. The fact that the spikes were found as a species-wide trait, he noted, is especially remarkable.
Naturally, the unusual nature of the spikes has led paleontologists to wonder why such features evolved and what they were used for. Previous research indicated that some of the teeth in adult fish were blunted and worn, hinting that they were rubbing against hard surfaces. Perhaps the fish were using the teeth to scrape and move sediment in constructing nests, and could have also been helpful in defending those nests from other fish looking to dig their own divots in the riverbed.
Claeson and colleagues prefer a defensive function for the spikes. The prehistoric salmon, just like their living counterparts, swam with side-to-side motions of the body. Their strongest muscles were devoted to these movements, and also would have allowed the fish to take strong swings against predators or other rivals. Not all experts agree, though. Wilson notes that the fish could have been using the spikes to dig nesting areas, and males could have been using the spikes to intimidate competitors for mates during spawning season.
Regardless of whether the fish were using the spikes for defense or in competition, the teeth were surely formidable. “Imagine a one-pound geology hammer, sharpened, and wielded by 200 pounds of lateral muscle,” Claeson says. The salmon is no longer a sabertooth, but its teeth were just as formidable.
