I rarely post reviews but in this case I'm trying to figure out what would be the most impactful. I had TUFF experience on my Ireland / Nebraska game trip. I say this as a very experienced traver who has worked with different agencies in the past. Where do do I begin? Maybe with the "tour guide" Kathy that used the tour as her own social/drinking vacation and didn't seem to have an idea about what was really going on. She at one point ( after some wine) asked our driver Peter how much to tip him? Then made the suggestion of 25 cents an hour. I was mortified. To his credit he redirected her to the packet that had been mailed out with all those suggestions. He stayed professional for the entirety of the trip. I'm beyond grateful that I booked my own flights ( I was flying in from Philly , my parents traveled in from Omaha and were probably awake for close to 48 hrs that first day. Moostach advertised- if you had your deposit in by a certain date your airfare FROM OMAHA would be included. Then later informed travelers they would be driving in from Omaha (8hrs). After that then catching a flight from Chicago. With no flight information included . I felt awful for them ( apparently the flight was terrible too, (air lingus). Moving on, the scheduling ( or should I say cramming in sights) was INSANE! I understand you want people to get their money's worth but geeeze read the room , people were exhausted . Might I add the first day we landed @ 6:00 am and didn't get dinner until 7:30 pm and early start the next day to drive around the Ring of Kerry. Return from a full day of driving and then get 2 hrs of "free time" then dinner again @ 8:30, at a castle... ( that was actually lovely) but the timing again was AWFUL. Every stop we made ( rest stops or for lunch) was mobbed with people , All the busses were on the same schedule. We fought crowds the ENTIRE time. I do understand there were a TON of Americans there for the game but I should hope something could be done about EVERYONE using the same stops within 45 min of each other. There would be 5-6 busses at every stop! Makes an average of 200-250 people all trying to use the restroom or stretch their legs ect. I'll jump to the Nebraska game, when we arrived Kathy told us we were wayyyy upto @ 500 level. She was right about that. So we sat in the rafters on the NORTHWESTERN side. Yes they were on the 50 yard line and as a person that is 42 I had no problem with all the stairs, but I can tell you I was the youngest person I'd say the average age was 60 with a lot of them having limited mobility, such as walking with canes ect. I witnessed as they sat thru the ENTIRE game without even using the restroom for fear of the stairs. It was tuff. The last and final day my husband and I took my folks in the morning on the hop on hop off bus- what a great experience, we were told that would be included in our package but then that was changed as well. It was switched to staying on the coach driving around - I'm glad we passed and paid the extra and did one on our own. ( Hop on Hop off Dublin). I loved Ireland, beautiful country , lovely people and we had spectacular weather! It was nice we got to see so much of the country side , just beyond disappointed on how the overall experience was. I would NOT recommend Moostach travel to anyone and always suggest when using an agency ( any) to book your own flights.
On Autumn #2 tour. Very disappointed with Nashville tour. Tour didn't include Ryman or Grand Ole Opry. Who goes to Nashville without going there? All we saw was a lot of traffic and people. Left this morning with a disappointing feeling of not really seeing what we came to Nashville to see on our first visit there. Also, would have liked to stay @ better locations for hotels closer to attractions. Didn't stop to see the famous arches in St. Louis but stayed overnight in Fairview Heights, IL, just outside of St. Louis. Prefer better tours for major attractions.
The Good, and the not so good. We went to the Tetons and Yellowstone July 2022. There were lots of activities and sightseeing. The food they provided was above average, and the tour guides, and Teton/Yellowstone hop on guides were excellent. The hotels were decent, communication was good throughout the trip, and the price for the whole trip was reasonable. There's ample overhead room for carryons. The bad was that we ran late often as old people are like herding cats and apparently time means little to them. The bus seats were less than comfortable, you weren't allowed to poop in the onboard bathroom, and the bathroom wasn't dumped for 5 days, which became a very offensive smell during the 5th day. The onboard wi-fi was down more than it was up by a bunch, and they initially didn't have the plugs on next to the seats for the start of the trip. The trips main driver didn't start the trip out of Omaha with us, he came aboard in Lincoln, and we had to wait for him to show up to continue the trip. The ac was minimal and passengers often complained of of it being too warm. Overall it was a nice trip, and I'm glad we experienced it but it could have been so much better with a little attention to detail - ac, dump the bathroom toilet, wi-fi.Everyone was pleasant and conversation was easy with all onboard. Time between stops was sometimes 3 hours, so be prepared. It's definitely for older folks - 75-85 years of age. Our tour guides toned it down as we had a couple folks who couldn't walk far, couldn't get over a curb, so they planned activities that most, or everyone could do, which left those of us that could or wanted to do a short hike out of luck. Oh, and halfway thru the trip I noticed one of the gentlemen on the bus started wearing a mask when on the bus and while walking around outside. By the time my wife and I returned home we both had Covid. The reasons above are why I won't be taking another bus tour anytime soon, but for some I can see the appeal.
I'll be quite honest with you about tour companies. You wonder why mature people use this service to travel domestically and abroad , because they have good money. I'm not in that age group , but I've travel around to many places and canada, as a group it's ok having travel companions. They offer all kinds of tours from one day to one month Over the years, I've seen passengers under 50 and some 30 to 40 age group with young kids. An option for traveling I've enjoyed this company and use their services
I paid $200 for a one day mystery tour "K". The original destination was unable to be accessed because of flooding. I understand that and am grateful we were not put in harm's way BUT rather than the company cancelling and refunding the money, they chose to substitute an uninspired tour of Omaha. Believe me, they have lots of information about the attendees and know that a majority of them live in or the immediate vicinity of Omaha. That was a lot to pay for driving around the place we live and work. Many people were bored and expressed that the substitute tour was ridiculous since they've grown up going to the locations they took us to (such as the Old Market). In addition, the tour guide berated us at various times as though we were an unruly group of children. Two meals were included and were fine, but I didn't see the $200 value in the venues we visited. Besides that, it was my sister-in-law's birthday that day and I made special arrangements for a birthday cake for her which was forgotten. No refunds were offered.

Hi Lily. Thank you so much for your comments. I am so sorry that our one day Mystery "K" Tour did not live up to your expectations. We take your comments seriously and will review our processes to make sure this doesn't happen again. If we ever have the opportunity to serve you on another tour, I know we won't let you down.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.
Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other
Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.
Moscow Tours centering on Russian History
Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.
Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers
What is the best time to visit moscow.
Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide
How many days are enough in Moscow?
If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.
Do they speak English in Moscow?
As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.
Is it safe to travel to Moscow?
It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
