Do you want to plan a day trip from Nerja to Granada?

In that case, this article has everything you need to know to plan a perfect day trip.

I have visited Granada six times , so as a local living on Costa del Sol, I can also offer practical insights and local tips that will save you time and money.

Let’s skip to the chase – the best option to see the Granada on a day trip is  booking a tour from a local company .

If you prefer  driving or using public transport , I have included instructions for these further down the article, together with my itinerary for one day trip.

PS: this article contains affiliate links, I will earn a small fee if you book through them, at no extra cost to you. Thank you for helping me run this blog!

Is Granada Worth Visiting on a Day Trip?

Yes, of course it is!

As I mentioned, I visited Granda six times and have been to Alhambra three times – you can tell I’m a big fan.

Granada is one of the most beautiful destinations in Southern Spain and one of the best day trips from Nerja. Visiting the Nasrid Palaces and the whole Alhambra complex will be the highlight of your stay in Spain.

A day in Granada is plenty of time to explore the whole Alhambra complex, see the narrow streets of the historic old town – Albaicin, and you will even get some free time to explore on your own or buy some souvenirs.

3 Reasons for Booking a Tour from Nerja to Granada

Booking a day excursion from a local company is the easiest and best way to see Granada on a day trip, here are a few things you should keep in mind:

1. Skip the Line Tickets to Alhambra

If there is one thing you need to know about planning a trip to Granada, it’s the fact that tickets to Alhambra are not easy to get , especially on short notice and in the main season. Even in winter time, you can’t just get tickets for next day or the same day, they sell out fast.

Booking a tour to Granada with a local company will guarantee you get the skip the line tickets to Alhambra, with a pre-booked time slot. The trip is also planned well to ensure that you will get there ahead of the time so you don’t miss out on your slot.

2. Tour Guide & Hassle Free Transport

Instead of driving to Granada yourself and navigating the local transport, you can enjoy the short one-hour drive on board a comfortable bus and get dropped off by the entrance to Alhambra.

The complex has strict rules for access to cars and parking, so using the bus is super convenient and you don’t get lost looking for the entrance.

The tour also includes the services of a private guide, who will tell you everything you need about Granada, and you will also have a guided tour of the Alhambra complex in English, so you don’t have to pay anything extra for the complex.

3. Often the Cheapest option

If you add up the cost of the transport, car rental, petrol, parking, getting tickets to Alhambra and a guide, an organized tour might be actually a cheaper and easier way to see Granada.

Book Your Granada Day Trip

Main attractions on a day trip from nerja to granada, the famous alhambra.

Alhambra is a palace complex built in the 13th century by the Moorish rulers, and one of the best preserved examples of Islamic architecture.

Tour this UNESCO World Heritage Site and learn everything about it’s history from your local guide. The tour includes entrance to all parts of Alhambra – the Nasrid Palace, Generalife Gardens, Alcazaba and Charles V Palace.

Albaicin District of Granada

Albaicin is an absolute highlight of any trip to Granada – the oldest part of Granada will charm you with narrow cobblestone streets leading up to the hill, from where you can see the Alhambra peaking from around the corner.

Itinerary for Your Excursion from Nerja to Granada

  • you will get picked up at two different locations in Nerja
  • enjoy stunning views on your one hour drive to Granada
  • start your day by a guided tour of the Alhambra complex
  • visit the beautiful town center – the old Albaicin
  • you can either choose a walking tour of Albaicin or explore on your own
  • you will be picked up after that and travel back to Nerja

Practical Tips for a Day Trip to Granada &  Alhambra

  • Granada is very hot in the summer, wear light clothes, hat and sun protection
  • You get free tapas with each drink in Granada – something you should definitely experience
  • I recommend grabbing a drink in a restaurant in Paseo de los Tristes where you get the best views of Alhambra
  • Wear comfortable shoes for exploring Alhambra and the gardens, the complex is pretty big.
  • The old town is mostly cobblestone streets, so do not wear high heels.
  • To enter the Nasrid Palaces, you need to have your ID – they check that against your ticket, so its absolutely essential
  • Take water with you to stay hydrated, especially in summer
  • No large backpacks are allowed inside the Alhambra, also no selfie sticks or tripods
  • You can’t enter the Nasrid Palace with a baby pram, you need to leave it at the storage
  • Toilets are available between the Nasrid Palace and Alcazaba

Other Transport Options for this Day Trip

In this section you will find instructions for visiting Granada on a day trip by car or by public transport. I have also included a one day itinerary so you can plan your day in Granada easily.

Day Trip from Nerja to Granada with Rental Car

If you already rented a car for your stay in Nerja, it makes the most sense to do this day trip with the car.

I have outlined the journey in the map below.

Here are a few things you should know:

  • first of all,  get your tickets to Alhambra  well in advance before you get to Granada
  • the distance to Granada is about 95 km, which would be 1-hour 15-minute drive one way – I have outlined the journey on the map below
  • some of the roads may be toll roads (the ones with “P” in the name), so have some cash ready in the car in case you hit the toll booth
  • be mindful of your speed, there are traffic cameras everywhere
  • check parking options in Granada in advance, especially so if you’re planning to get to Alhambra – in that case, it may be much easier to park somewhere in central Granada and take a local taxi there

Skip the Line Alhambra Tickets

Day trip to granada with public transport from nerja.

For those who are on a tight budget, this may be the most cost-effective option.

The only thing you need to remember is to check your travel connections early, and secure your tickets to Alhambra well in advance.

The entrance to the Nasrid palace has a dedicated time slot you can’t miss, so give yourself plenty of time when checking your bus arrivals in Granada.

granada spain bus station 1

Distance from Nerja to Granada

The distance between Nerja and Granada is approximately 95 kilometers, which is about 1 hour drive.

Buses from Nerja to Granada

Nerja is well connected to Granada with a network of local buses.

There are roughly 6 to 8 connections from Nerja bus station per day with  local bus operator Alsa

The journey time will vary depending on which bus you take, as some make more stops along the way – the fastest buses take 1 hour 50 minutes, and the slowest ones 2 hours 45 minutes

The tickets start just under 10 euros one way.

Check the departure options on the Alsa website in advance, to make sure you can get to Granada in the desired time, especially if you have tickets to Alhambra which have a dedicated time slot

Once you get to Granada, just take a local taxi to Alhambra to get to the entrance of the Nasrid palace on time, within your dedicated time slot.

The journey should take about 15 – 20 minutes directly to the Alhambra entrance.

Nerja to Granada by Train

There are no train connections between Nerja and Granada, Nerja has no train station.

Are Alhambra Tickets Sold Out?

Unfortunately, if the tickets are sold out for your selected day, you have very limited options. You can’t simply walk to the ticket office and ask if they have any available.

The best option – check if you can get a local tour.

If you are already in Granada, or booked your transport there, you can check local guided tours for Alhambra, which also include tickets to the monument.

You can check this small group guided tour , which lasts 3 hours.

Is Granada Worth Visiting Without Seeing Alhambra?

Yes and no.

Seeing the Alhambra is definitely the highlight of visiting Granada, but if you already booked your trip and you can’t get the tickets, don’t cancel your journey.

Granada has so much to offer and if nothing else, you can enjoy stunning views of the Alhambra from many viewpoints of Granada.

Check my itinerary below to get some ideas, and I have also included a list of my favourite places in Granada.

One Day Itinerary For Visiting Granada

While truly immersing yourself in all Granada has to offer could take days, a well-planned one-day itinerary can still capture the essence of this Andalusian gem.

Here’s how to make the most of your day in Granada, from dawn till dusk.

Morning: The Alhambra (3 hours)

Start your day early at the Alhambra, the jewel of Granada.

This UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for its stunning Islamic art and architecture, requires at least three hours to explore its palaces, gardens, and fortresses. Highlights include the Nasrid Palaces, the Generalife gardens, and the Alcazaba.

Alhambra in Granada, Spain

Lunch Break: Paseo de los Tristes (1 hour)

After your morning at the Alhambra, head down to Paseo de los Tristes, a picturesque street located at the bottom of the Alhambra hill.

Here, you can enjoy lunch in a local restaurant with a view of the Alhambra. Choose one of the many terraces offering traditional Andalusian dishes, such as tapas and paella. Alternatively, check my guide on best restaurants in Granada to find your favourite.

Alhambra views from Paseo de los Tristes in Granada, Spain

Afternoon: Albayzín and Mirador de San Nicolás (2 hours)

Post-lunch, wander through the winding streets of Albayzín , the old Muslim quarter.

This area is a delightful maze of narrow lanes and whitewashed houses, leading to the famous Mirador de San Nicolás. The view from this lookout point offers a breathtaking panorama of the Alhambra against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Spend time soaking in the views and the vibrant atmosphere, perhaps enjoying a café con leche at one of the nearby cafes.

Sunrise at Mirador Saint Nicholas, Granada

Late Afternoon: Granada Cathedral and Royal Chapel (1.5 hours)

Make your way to the Granada Cathedral , an impressive example of Spanish Renaissance architecture.

Spend about an hour exploring its grand interior and the adjacent Royal Chapel, where the Catholic Monarchs, Isabel and Ferdinand, are buried. The intricate artwork and historical significance make this a must-visit.

Evening: Flamenco Show & Dinner in Sacromonte (1 hour)

No visit to Granada is complete without experiencing a Flamenco show.

Head to the Sacromonte district, where the city’s best tablaos (Flamenco bars) are nestled among the traditional cave houses. You can book this show at Cueva Tarantos , which I also visited and really enjoyed (photos below).

Day trips from Nerja

Malaga is one of the best day trips from Nerja. There are plenty of things to do in Malaga and a day trip encompasses the most iconic tourist attractions.

With one day in Malaga , make sure you visit the Alcazaba and the Gibralfaro which are the two most prominent tourist attractions in the city and also the largest evidence of Moorish heritage in Malaga if not the Costa del Sol.

Below the Alcazaba, you also find the Roman Theater which is in very good shape and one of the free things to visit in Malaga .

Nearby you also find a selection of bars and restaurants where you can have lunch. Some of the vegan-friendly restaurants in Malaga are also located there.

Other attractions you can fit into a day trip are the Picasso Museum and the birth house of Picasso. A stroll around Malaga Old Town and along the wonderful Muelle Uno marina where you can jump on one of the Malaga boat tours or enjoy a cold drink and people watching.

Day trips from Nerja

La Herradura

One of the most underrated places to visit from Nerja is La Herradura , an enchanting yet calm Andalusian coastal town located on Granada’s Costa Tropical.

This is a great day trip from Nerja in the summer months when you can enjoy the crystal-clear water and go kayaking along the cliffs of Cerro Gordo.

This is also when there is more life in the little town which can get a little too sleepy in the winter for many (including myself.)

There are plenty of restaurants and bars there that really make the summer vibe amazing, yet relaxing compared to most of the towns and villages in Costa del Sol .

But what I like the most about La Herradura are the hiking routes on each side of the beach strip taking you up to beautiful viewpoints.

Both Cerro Gordo Watchtower on one side and Punta de La Mona Lighthouse are possible to reach by car if you find it too steep to walk.

Other points of interest are La Herradura Castle and San Jose and Santa Rita Hermitage which is located right below the lighthouse.

Day trip from Nerja - La Herradura

Rio Verde in Otívar is one of the most epic rivers you will ever visit. It got its name (Green River) from the clear, emerald-green color of the water.

Multiple water holes and waterfalls along the river give you plenty of opportunities to cool down. Rio Verde is by far one of my favorite summer hikes in the region.

It is located on private land, so you must pay an entrance fee of 5 Euros per person and per vehicle to enter the natural area.

While it is perfect for a leisurely hike, it is also the perfect place for adrenaline junkies. Going on a canyoning tour is so much fun, rappelling down waterfalls and cliff jumping, as you make your way down the river with a local instructor.

Note that canyoning tours require that you get to the meeting point by the entrance booth which is about 50 minutes to drive from Nerja, so you must drive or get a ride there.

Nerja day trip - Canyoning Rio Verde

El Caminito del Rey

Another exciting day trip from Nerja is to El Caminito del Rey , which was once the world’s most dangerous hike before completing restoration in 2015.

It is a 2-hour one-way hike taking you 7.7 kilometers through the picturesque Gaitanes Gorge. But this is not for the faint-hearted with a path pinned 100 meters high on the gorge wall and a hanging bridge taking you from one side to the other at the mouth of the gorge.

This natural area is one of the most impressive in Spain and one of the best things to do in Andalucia .

If you don’t dispose of a car, you can book a tour that picks you up from Nerja . The hike starts from El Kiosko from where you walk to the checkpoint.

There, you show your ticket ( must be pre-booked ,) get a mandatory helmet, and receive a security brief. It is important that you show up at the exact time of your ticket’s time sloth.

I recommend a guided tour to learn more about the history of the path and the natural area.

day excursions from Nerja - Caminito del Rey

The most popular Nerja day trip is to the whitewashed hillside village of Frigiliana overlooking Nerja’s coast. Most people just spend an afternoon there, but there are enough things to do in Frigiliana to fill up the entire day.

Whether you prefer to take it slow and wander around the village, take in the viewpoints, and visit the Archaeological Museum and the Palace of The Counts of Frigiliana, or you want to take on a hike in the area while you are there, is completely up to you.

The Asequias del Lizar is a great hike if you want a challenge and don’t have vertigo. Otherwise, Rio Higueron is a lovely river hike you can do straight from the village. These hikes are among the best things to do in Costa del Sol .

If you want to go on a shorter hike and don’t mind strenuous hills, head to Castillo del Lizar which is supposedly the castle ruins, but I couldn’t see much of it. What you do get to see, though, are spectacular views of Frigiliana and the coast.

Frigiliana is a lovely village to relax at a bar or café, eat tapas, and have a few drinks. It is one of the most picturesque white villages near Malaga and I highly recommend seeing it.

places to visit from Nerja

One of the top excursions from Nerja is to Almuñecar. This is possibly one of the most underrated coastal cities in Spain , but it has so much character.

There are plenty of things to do in Almuñecar and on a day trip you can explore quite a bit of its top attractions. The beaches are spectacular and the view from the viewpoint of San Cristobal encompasses the beaches on both sides and the Rocks of San Cristobal.

The Castillo de San Miguel is also worth visiting as one of the best-preserved castles in Andalucia . It also boasts epic views of the city and coastline.

Nearby you find the botanical garden which is also home to ancient Roman ruins of a fish salting factory. You might also want to see the remains of the aqueduct, there are some remains in the city, including an ancient Roman bath, but walking 15 minutes from there, you can see the most spectacular remains.

excursions from Nerja

Salobreña is an enchanting coastal town with spectacular beaches and a hilltop castle surrounded by whitewashed houses spilling down towards the coast.

There are plenty of things to do in Salobreña . It is a wonderful place to go for a stroll, visit the castle, and have good, local food and drinks.

In the summer, you might also want to spend a couple of hours on the beach, snorkeling, or cliff-jumping off the iconic peñon.

In my opinion, this is one of the best day trips from Nerja if you want to combine the Andalusian village feel with beach, and still be surrounded by a more Spanish vibe than the sprawling international Nerja energy.

day tour from Nerja

Granada and the Alhambra

One of the most iconic day excursions from Nerja is to Granada and the majestic Alhambra. With one day in Granada , you get enough time to see the old town (Albaicin) and the Sacromonte Cave Museum.

This was the old gypsy quarter and it is a wonderful opportunity to see how they lived in the caves in the 1800s.

However, with only a day, I suggest seeing the Alhambra in the morning so you can spend the time you need there before seeing the rest of the city.

You must book tickets in good time in advance. You can do that here . If you prefer to go with a guide, this guided tour is excellent .

If you don’t dispose of a car, the best way to go on a day trip from Nerja to Granada is on an organized tour.

Nerja day trips

Ronda and Setenil de Las Bodegas

Another of the most impressive excursions from Nerja is to the dramatic town of Ronda, renowned for its Puente Nuevo Bridge connecting the town across El Tajo Gorge.

Among the best things to do in Ronda is to walk down to the view of the New Bridge to get the iconic photo, but there are so many reasons why Ronda is worth visiting .

Besides the famous bridge and its viewpoints, one day in Ronda gives you time to see the Arab Bath, the old Moorish city walls, and the Casa del Rey Moro where you can climb down to the bottom of the gorge.

If you travel by car, check out my guide to parking in Ronda .

Setenil de Las Bodegas is one of the most unique white villages near Ronda and a fabulous stop on the way to or from the town. You don’t need much more than an hour or two there. But you don’t want to miss it!

With houses, restaurants, and bars built straight into the rock which in turn created a natural ceiling over the outside tables, this is one of the most unique places to visit in Andalucia .

Nerja day tour

No list of day trips from Nerja is complete without mentioning Cordoba. The historic city boasts some of Andalucia’s most impressive landmarks.

There are so many things to do in Cordoba that you could easily spend 2 days in the city without running out of things to do.

Yet, one day in Cordoba gives you an insight into the intense history and religious melting pot this place has become throughout the centuries.

Make sure you book tickets for the Mosque-Cathedral up front to avoid large queues. You can also climb the clock tower for sweeping views of the city and the Patio de Los Naranjos below.

Talking about patios, you don’t want to miss out on the spectacular patios in Cordoba . While you can see some of them without a guide, I actually recommend going on a patio tour in Cordoba .

It gives you the opportunity to learn about the history of the patios and the historical Cordoba Patio Festival . I highly recommend this patio tour .

Other must-see attractions that you can see on a day trip to Cordoba are the Alcazar de Los Reyes Cristianos and the Synagogue. Cordoba is one of the best places to visit in Andalucia in winter and spring as summer gets too hot.

As you can tell, there are some incredible Nerja day trips to be had and what you prefer is completely up to you!

Whether you are looking for adventure or diving into culture and history, I am sure you will enjoy these day trips from Nerja. The town is by far one of the best places to stay near Malaga and this includes what to do nearby.

Happy travels!

If you only have one day to spend in Morocco then this was a great way to see as much of Tangiers as possible. Our trip included a private pick up from our hotel outside Malaga, tickets on the ferry, a private tour guide with a van in Tangiers, lunch in Tangiers, a private walking tour of the Caves of Hercules that let us bypass the line to get into the caves, a private walking tour of the old city market, free time to browse the old city market, our return ferry trip, and a private van back to our hotel outside Malaga. All in all a packed day that was very enjoyable and worth the costs to have everything as a private setup instead of being in a larger group. Read more Written September 26, 2023

We did a day trip from our cruise port in Almeria. There were 4 of us and we were picked up at the port in an air conditioned van and driven to Granada. We met our guide Simon at the Alhambra. Simon was a great guide, very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we couldn’t spend any time in Granada as the cruise ship was leaving earlier than expected. We were returned to the port post tour. Read more Written August 31, 2023
  • V1865MRkarens 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Fantastic private tour to Tangier from Seville We had an outstanding full day private tour from Seville to Tangier with VIP Malaga Tours. There were two couples in our group. Our day started with pickup at our hotel by Luis in a comfortable van. He took us to the port in Tarifa, where we had a little free time to shop and get a coffee while he bought our ferry tickets (and filled out all our paperwork - thank you!). Luis then escorted us to the ferry with instructions on how to meet our private guide in Tangier. All went as planned and we were soon on our way in another very nice van with our Tangier guide and driver to see the nearby sights. Our guide then took us on a walking tour of Tangier, with plenty of time for shopping and lunch. We made lots of purchases in the souks, including dried fruit and nuts, scarves, tapestries, jewelry, t-shirts, and leather slippers. Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient. He steered us to wonderful stalls and shops with high quality goods. The bargaining was fun. We had such a good time that my husband and I would like to return to Morocco and hire the same guide for a multi-city tour someday. At late afternoon, our guide and driver took us back to the ferry terminal, and waited until we boarded. Another quick ferry ride back to Tarifa and we were met by Luis for the return trip to our hotel in Seville. Trust VIP Malaga Tours to put together the perfect day for you. The custom private tour to Tangier was worth every penny! Read more Written August 15, 2023

We had a car for the four of us to pick us up from Malaga and drove us to Tarifa without any stops. Our driver’s name is Raymond and he was outstanding. We had a guide, Paco, meet us in Tarifa to give us our ferry tickets and help us with anything we needed before boarding the ferry. Upon arrival to Tangier, our guide, Tifo was waiting for us.. we had a private car for the four of us the entire time in Tangier. He took us for breakfast first and then initiated the tour. He was amazing. He truly went the extra mile for us. He even gave a small camel souvenir as a gift to my son. He walked with us everywhere, never left us alone. The beach camel ride was an unforgettable experience. Mark arranged for us to also visit Asilah on the same day. This is a beautiful town where we meet our other guide, Asiz, who was also amazing. We had lunch at Restaurant Vandalucia. This place was awesome! Authentic, fresh morrocan food. The host was warm and welcoming. He even honored my son with live music singing happy birthday to him. First I would like to compliment Mark who had the patience to withstand two years of our canceling our tours due to COVID concerns. He remained helpful and supportive throughout the two-year ordeal and we were finally able to realize our tour objective this year. We had the same driver, Jonathan, for 3 days (one day to Granada, one to Ronda--Sentenil de las Bodegas--Arcos de la Frontera and he also offered to transport us from our hotel to the Malaga airport on our final day(. He was always prompt on arrival and is an excellent driver! Mark arranged for Eduardo to give us a tour of the Generalife and Alhambra in Granada. Eduardo was an awesome guide. His English is impeccable and he infused some of his personal humor and wit. Lourdes Navarro was our guide in Ronda. She is very knowledgeable and fluent in English. She gave us a comprehensive and historical tour of the city. We greatly enjoyed our time with Lourdes and appreciate her recommendation of a great restaurant for lunch at the conclusion of our tour. Both guides were professional and we appreciate their patience while I took so many photos of the sights. We could not have been more pleased with Mark, Jonathan and both of these guides and highly recommend their services to others. Read more Written September 26, 2022

Mark set up everything for us, just the way we wanted it. We even did a second tour with the company to Jerez to taste sherry and see the Andalusian horses. Mark was easy to reach whenever we had questions or needed assistance. I can say the same for Carlos, our driver. He was polite, kind, a great English speaker, and a pleasure to travel with. Our guide Marta in Sevilla taught us so many things, and I was impressed with how much we got to see in just one day there. guided visit to Nerja and Frigiliana

The Costa del Sol is so named precisely because it is the geographical area of Spain with the most hours of sunlight per year . Within this Malaga region we find villages with a singular beauty and an unparalleled historical, artistic and natural heritage.

This is a small group excursion. If you want to take this tour in a private format, you can make the request through our customized tours section.

Excursion to Nerja and Firigliana from Granada

Nerja_y_Figiliana

Our guided visit to Nerja and Frigiliana from Granada takes you to the Axarquia mountains to discover the town of Frigiliana. A living vestige of the moorish architecture with narrow cobbled streets flanked by low houses with whitewashed walls. Where the smell of the flowers that decorate the walls and the saltpetre of the nearby Mediterranean accompany the visitor.

The municipality of Frigiliana is a real treat for the senses and the visit to this town culminates with a panoramic view of the remains of the Arab fortress of Lizar , from the 9th century CE.

Following a visit to one of the last strongholds of the Moors in the Iberian Peninsula the visitors continue on their way to Maro a municipality parish of Nerja and which has one of the most outstanding caves in Andalusia, both for its geomorphological and palaeontological value. The Cave of Nerja .

A huge complex with a surface area of more than 35,000 square metres, of which about 9,000 square metres can be explored in the so-called Tourist Galleries . The cave museum preserves upper Palaeolithic prehistoric remains and the recent prehistory with impressive cave paintings at least 42,000 years old. It is considered to be the cave with the most prehistoric artistic and symbolic manifestations in the world.

The cave also stands out geologically because of its enormous chambers filled with speleothems : gours, stalactites, stalagmites, stalagmites and columns which give the spaces a singular natural majesty.

After leaving the cave-museum of Nerja the visitors will then continue their march to the coastal town of Nerja where you can enjoy the Andalusian gastronomy at its best and contemplate the views from the European Balcony . Name attributed to Alfonso XII and which names a huge platform on the cliff that once was the Lower Castle of Nerja and the central point from which the municipality developed during the 16th century .

Discovered a mere 64 years ago, and dating back many more, it’s hanging stalactites hide a multitude of treasures, artefacts, archaic art and the biggest stalagmite in the world. Follow your audio guide as you head underground to uncover the truth.

Then it’s time to unwind on the aptly named Spanish ‘Coast of Sun’. Choose to practise your kayaking or stand up for some paddle surfing in an attempt to explore the waters. If that’s not your thing, take the Spanish way with sand, siesta and vino.

Excellent service! On a last minute basis we decided to take a tour from Granada to the seaside and Not Just a Tourist was able to arrange for us a customized tour with a private guide. It was a wonderful day on the beach. The beach itself has no sand but the color was really nice and blue and there were many locals there with restaurants, bars and a lot of water activities. Our guide took us to a nice palace famous for its Paella which was by far the best food we had so far in Spain. A great day on the beach!

This is the perfect activity for families and kids. It was really hot in Granada and we decided to take a trip to the coast. Not Just a Tourist designed a tailor-made tour for us where we could visit the cave which the kids really loved as it was very cool inside, a kayaking trip along some impressive cliffs and also a drive to a white village with views over the ocean. It was a very relaxing tour and we all enjoyed it.

As temperatures were very high in Granada we decided to take a day trip to the coast to escape the heat. Having done a few tours with Not Just a Tourist and being very happy with their service we gave them a call. In a very short time Mahsa was able to set up a private tour for us to the coast and even arrange a kayaking session close to some gorgeous cliffs. The kayak instructor spoke good English and was very motivating. We also visited a very nice cave with amazing structures. The tour was with headphones but that worked perfectly for us. Really recommend this tour during summer and especially with kids or outdoors lovers.

Urs was a very accommodating guide and made sure we had a perfect day. We first stopped at a nice view point over the sea and the cliffs, then did a tour of the cave which was way bigger than we had expected with some amazing structures inside and then headed to a mountain village called Frigiliana. It was very nice to see how the scenery changes the moment we headed landwards.

Nerja is very close to Granada and makes for a convenient day trip where you can visit everything, sea, mountains, cave and the coast line. Frigiliana was also a very interesting town and much less touristy that most places where we have been to.
