We ended up with so much fun , we watched the video and took the jeep down to the ferry which went without a problem. They were expecting us and then on to the island, were we got to drive . Some of the best off roading I’ve done in years! We found our hotel on the other side of the island which over looked the beach. The room we had, had a nice little kitchen and a balcony overlooking the beach. It was so much fun driving down the beach and on the tracks throughout the island. The three days went really quick, but was about right for us 10 out of 10.”

Yes, however Pippies only offer a 3 Day 4×4 Tag Along Tour to Fraser Island as there is so much to see. Please give us a call for options on a Day Tour, as we are pretty fussy and will only recommend what we would do ourselves.

Yes you can do Fraser Island on your own but as a traveller we recommend rather doing a Fraser Island Tour as everything is organised for you, therefore all you have to do is just have a great time!

Want a little more freedom, and a more personalized experience? We also offer private charters for our one-day tour, as well as the overnight escape.

Travelling privately means the choices are endless, and the decision is yours. You and your group set the pace and decide how long to stay at each of the stops. More time at the Lighthouse, longer in the rainforest, an extra long swim at stunning Honeymoon Bay, perhaps a later departure time– all possible with a Private Charter Tour.

You can also decide to include a 13 kilometre detour (approximately 40 minutes) into your 4WD trip through the National Park Freshwater Track to Rainbow Beach. This track gives a full 4WD experience and travels through world growth hardwood timbers. It is a unique rainforest growing in sand dunes, and features tree carvings made by the Aboriginal people.

A Private Charter means private travel in a 4×4 Wagon (up to 4 adults and 2 children), as well as freedom to control the itinerary and a more personalised interaction with the tour guides. Lunch is a gourmet picnic lunch amongst the spectacular coloured sands with stunning view of the Pacific Ocean and Fraser Island.

And there is no need to decide straight away. Your tour guide can take you through all the options on the day dependent on weather, season and tide conditions.

ONE DAY GREAT BEACH DRIVE TOUR

This eight-hour tour travels more than 70km of iconic beaches with our vehicles travelling right on the sand, so you can soak in the scenery and wildlife, such as dolphins, manta rays, turtles, soldier crabs, birdlife, and whales (whale season is June-October).

Here, red and yellow sands form a unique canyon in the sand dunes where you will enjoy magnificent views over Teewah Beach – a landscape you will never forget.

A scenic and relaxing picnic ground in the National Park where we might be visited by Lace Monitors (Goannas), who love being photographed.

Double Island Point Lighthouse offers breathtaking 360-degree views across the Pacific Ocean and scenic surrounds of the Great Sandy National Park. It is here we often spot pods of dolphins, turtles, sharks, manta rays and the majestic Humpback Whales (season is June-October). We are the only operators with access to the lighthouse, allowing you to see a parts of this popular spot otherwise missed.

COLOURED SANDS

This world famous attraction has more than 40 different shades of colour. The tour includes a demonstration of the traditional techniques used by the Aboriginal people (with respect to the Gubbi Gubbi people) to create artwork and decorate boomerangs.

HONEYMOON BAY

This area boasts a saltwater lagoon with some of the most scenic landscapes in Australia. Here we stop for a refreshing break where you can swim in the protected waters of the bay, or body surf on the longest right hand breaks in Australia all year round.

ACCESSIBILITY

Our tours are suitable for guests with sufficient mobility to climb two or three steps, however will benefit from fittings and fixates to aid balance. We are also suitable for guests who depend on the use of a wheelchair.

We operate a modern fleet of air-conditioned 4WD wagons all with forward facing seating.

Our tours are beach driving experiences, however due to tide and beach conditions, one way of the tour may need to be taken via the Noosa Hinterland. Tour guides will explain these circumstances to guests on the day, should they apply.

Private Tours 4×4 Wagons : No refunds will be offered for cancellations within 72 hours of the tour start time.  Bookings cancelled with more than 72 hours notice will be offered a refund or an alternative tour date, subject to availability.

Private Charters 4×4 mini buses and Private Charter Group Bookings: No refunds will be offered for cancellations within 14 days of the tour start time. Bookings cancelled with more than 14 days will be offered a full refund or an alternative tour date, subject to availability.

Great Beach Drive 4WD Tours reserve the right to operate substitute vehicles, amend tour times, and amend itinerary without prior notification. Prices are also subject to change.

Important Information

Please note RBAC Fraser 4x4 Hire hire is available 361 days a year, subject to availability. 4WDs are provided with a full tank of fuel and need to be returned with a full tank of fuel. Max 5 people per car - drivers must be over 21 years old and hold/bring their current open drivers license! Everybody needs to watch the safety video before hiring Dingos 4WD vehicles.

For those not interested in camping, you can choose to a car rental that will cost a little less , allowing you to stay at accommodation on the island!

Please pack a small overnight bag, change of clothes, swimwear, food and drinks, hat, suncream, sunglasses, towel and camera.

You will also need to bring along food and drinks from the mainland or purchase them on Fraser Island.

Terms and Conditions

Important Information: 

Please note this tour may not be suitable if you have existing neck or back problems or are pregnant. Check with your agent to make sure this tour is suitable for you. 

You will be given a set of terms and conditions by your provider when you pick up the vehicle. Guests must comply with all terms and conditions. 

Drivers must present current drivers licence (international is fine). Please advise at the time of booking if an automatic vehicle is required.

Your Responsibilities:

Please advise us before booking if any passengers are under 18 years old to ensure this is the appropriate trip. 

You must reconfirm all booked tours prior to travel as specified on your voucher. If applicable, notes such as dietary requirements, pick-up locations and additional fees should also be confirmed at this time. Reconfirmations cannot be actioned through Fraser Tours / Mr Travel, and must be done so directly through the Service Operator as specified on each ticket.

It is your responsibility to notify us of ticket discrepancies. Please read through the details on your voucher thoroughly to ensure all details such as passenger names, ages and dates of travel on vouchers are correct.

It is the responsibility of all passengers travelling to advise both your travel agent at the time of booking and vessel check-in agent before boarding of any medical conditions including food allergies you may suffer from.

You need to allow adequate time to check-in prior to the specified departure time. 

Prices/Extra Costs:

All prices are stated in Australian dollars and include GST. Surcharges over peak holiday seasons may apply. 

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices and extra costs. Extra costs may include EMC fees, Stingersuit/Wetsuit Hire, Luggage Storage, Insurance, Linen Hire, National Park Fees, Fuel Levies, Dietary Fees, etc. Bonds may also apply.

We will also endeavour to communicate these extra costs with you at the time of booking, and on your ticket. However, it is your responsibility to confirm which (if any) additional costs apply with each Service Operator upon reconfirming your trip.

Travel Risk/Insurance:

It should be noted that adventure travel involves risk. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard clients, we cannot be responsible for personal injury or loss due to the actions of our clients which are beyond our control. All departures and itineraries are subject to weather. Tours may be changed or cancelled for any reason at the discretion of the Tour Operator. We highly recommend that all clients have travel insurance covering illness, injury, loss or damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on the confirmed date of departure. You should also ensure your travel insurance will cover special circumstances including weather events preventing guests from travelling to their tour departure destination and cancelled flights due to unforeseen circumstances. 

Merchant Fees:

Please be aware operators pass on credit card merchant fees so there is a non-refundable 1% surcharge for VISA and MASTERCARD card purchases.

All ticket/voucher reissues attract a $20 administration fee.

Open Date Vouchers / Gift Certificate:

Shipping Costs are in addition to the ticket price and will be added at check-out. Shipping costs are non-refundable and do not makeup part of the ticket value. 

E-Vouchers incur no shipping fees. You have 5 years to use the value of the voucher. Seasonal Price Rises will apply if travelling out the current seasons pricing. Vouchers can be exchanged for free up to the full value of the voucher excluding credit card fees and charges.

Cancellations

Client Cancellations:

All cancellations forfeit 25% of the recommended retail price (RRP) - not the discounted/sale price. No shows or client cancellations made within 30 days of departure forfeit 100% of the total ticket price. 

Transfers between tours can be made at the suppliers discretion, however, it should be noted that supplier fees may apply. Tour transfers also incur a $20 administration fee. 

It is compulsory that all cancellation requests are in writing and sent via email to [email protected]. Cancellations attempted via online chat or phone will not be actioned.

Supplier Cancellations:

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices, alter itineraries, apply a fuel surcharge, cancel departures, arrange alternative transport and vary itineraries and services if necessary.

All departures and itineraries are subject to weather. Tours may be changed or cancelled for any reason at the discretion of the Service Operator. If the Service Operator has to cancel the trip or activity (prior to departure) and we cannot offer a suitable alternative, then a refund will be given minus a 20% administration fee and any associated card fees. We strongly recommend that you have travel insurance, especially during the wet season.

In the unlikely event of your trip being cancelled or stood down, all guest communication is required to go through our Online Store via telephone or email. While there is a Sailing Whitsundays retail outlet located Airlie Beach, please be aware that they operate as a separate entity and are unable to access reservations made by the Mr Travel online department.

Refunds do not apply to hires cut short due to: Bad weather, Shortening of the rental period by the hirer - unless it can be re-hired for that same period, cars taken from the hirer due to misuse in contravention to Aussie Trax's or other authorised persons' directions.

All refunds are in Australian Dollars and must be made to the card of payment. Sailing Whitsundays/Mr Travel is not liable for exchange rate fluctuations or fees, or any other merchant/bank fees associated with domestic and/or international transactions.

Where a full refund is applicable, there is the option to transfer the whole cost of the tour to another tour or “Credit” to avoid the administration fee. A transfer fee of $20 will apply.

You will be emailed confirmation once the refund has been processed. Once the refund has been processed, it may still take time for the banks to clear the amount. Please allow 7-10 business days for the funds to clear into Australian accounts and up to 21 business days for international accounts.

Accountability/Misconduct:

All Service Operators have the right to provide client feedback and to cancel bookings based off of feedback from other Service Operators.

Sailing Whitsundays/Mr Travel will treat this as any normal client cancellation and therefore the cancellation fees stated in the Client Cancellation Policy will apply.
