Rhenia Island, located southwest of Mykonos past Delos , is a quiet and uninhabited destination that's popular with travelers seeking an experience steeped in wild nature and Greek mythology. According to legend, Rhenia served as a temporary refuge for Leto, where she gave birth to Zeus's daughter Artemis. Rhenia's proximity to Delos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also makes it an ideal stop for visitors seeking to combine relaxation with a dose of history. Greek law prohibits anyone from living or building a permanent home on Rhenia, and the island is thus considered a paradise by nature-lovers, especially in contrast to tourist-heavy Mykonos.

Some visitors praised the pristine and refreshing seas of Rhenia, which provide a perfect setting to swim and snorkel. The island's secluded beaches and aquamarine waters also offer a peaceful respite from the beautiful chaos of Chora. However, some travelers caution that the area can get crowded on the off chance that a large tour boat docks, disrupting the tranquility. On windy days, passengers are recommended to prepare for a choppy ride on the way back; pack anti-seasickness medicine just in case.

The island is only reachable via shared or private tour boat. Many tours combine a visit to Rhenia with a stop at Delos. Tour companies like Greece Sailing by Chios Yachting team and Aegean Ventures earn high marks from travelers for their attentive crews and organized itineraries. Prices range from $100 to $210 per person and include food. Tours typically last around six to seven hours.

#1 Little Venice

This Chora neighborhood is known as one of the most stunning places on the island. Overlooking the harbor's southwest end, it was here that many early ship captains decided to settle down and build uniquely magnificent houses with elaborate buttressed wooden balconies overlooking the sea. Today, many of these historic homes have been transformed into a variety of cozy restaurants, trendy bars, shops and nightclubs, making this a bustling place at all hours of the day.

Recent visitors offered mixed reviews of Little Venice. Some described it as a charming spot to get a drink and enjoy the view, especially at sunset. However, other travelers said it's overpriced and crowded, especially when the cruise ships are docked. If you do visit, plan to stop by the windmills for even more photo-ops as the two sightseeing hot spots are within walking distance of each other. Explore Russian Summer Life: Visit Russian Dacha!

People from Northern countries soak up every bit of pleasure out of summertime. Its days are numbered, and we do our best to store up the sunshine for the long, cold months that make up the rest of the year. Russians are among those who take full advantage of the brief, hot weather.

At summer’s peak, many Russians don’t venture far. The reason is dachas , our country houses. August brings the harvest for our small garden plots, but a dacha is much more than just an economic benefit: it embodies a culture dating back to Communist times.

The dachas is a unique phenomenon in the life of anyone who lives in the boundless expanses of the Russian Federation. A small plot – just 0.15 acres – with a few currant bushes, apple trees and a vegetable patch, a little wooden house with no telephone or running water and a discreetly located outhouse. I’d love to how you mine.

How we’ll get there:

I believe that it’ll be fun to experience the Russian suburban train (electrichka), which is very popular in our country. Electrichka is inexpensive and it might even be faster than a car as it doesn’t depend on the traffic. Travelling by commuter train you’ll be able to see ordinary people and possibly talk with them. Sometimes trains offer you such “free entertainment” as listening to numerous vendors and musicians. But local trains might be crowded at certain times of the day so in some cases we’d recommend you to go with us by car.

What we’ll do:

We start the trip with the tour of Dmitrov , an ancient Russian town, founded in 1147 and called Moscow younger brother. It is located 1 hour drive out of Moscow.

Learning how to prepare a Russianlunch:

First you choose the right meat, then the right recipe for the marinade.The fire has to be started and allowed to burn down until it’s almost out, but still smouldering. If you catch it at that moment, then the meat will roast evenly and not burn.

Meanwhile, the fire keeps threatening to go out, compelling family and guests to furiously fan it with pieces of cardboard. We serve sashlik with baked potatoes, pickled vegetables and of course Russian vodka. Lunch is followed by traditional Russian tea drinking .

You’ll be so involved, you won’t even notice when it’s time to go back to the city.
