Im Funkhaus geht der Funk ab: denn das angesagte Musikerkollektiv "Scary Pockets" aus Los Angeles ist zu Gast bei der hr-Bigband!

Das Musikerkollektiv um den Keyboarder Jack Conte und den Gitarristen Ryan Lerman produziert regelmäßig Funk-Covers von bekannten Popsongs auf YouTube – stets mit wechselnden Solisten und Bandmitgliedern. Zu ihren Gästen zählen nicht nur Topkünstler der US-amerikanischen Funk- und Popszene, auch illustre Jazzsolisten wie John Scofield, Robben Ford oder Larry Goldings hatten schon die Ehre.

Der hr-Bigband widmeten die "Scary Pockets" im letzten Jahr ein Feature und so wurde zusammen der Song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" von Daft Punk produziert. Das Video wurde zum Riesenerfolg in den sozialen Netzwerken. Und deshalb gibt’s jetzt die Wiederholung – und zwar live im hr-Sendesaal!

Together with the "Scary Pockets" and the Frankfurt Radio Bigband it will get funky in Frankfurt’s broadcasting studios: The hip collective of musicians from Los Angeles with Jack Conte on keyboards and Ryan Lerman on guitar regularly produces funk covers of famous pop songs on YouTube – each time with varying soloists and band members. Not only have they already invited top-notch artists of the US-American funk and pop scene to be their guests but also well-known jazz soloists such as John Scofield, Robben Ford, or Larry Goldings. Last year, the "Scary Pockets" featured the Frankfurt Radio Bigband. Together they recorded Daft Punk’s song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". The video became a huge success on social media. It is only logical that this episode is to be continued – this time as a live performance in the hr-Sendesaal.

Scary Pockets Plot Spring 2023 Tour In North America & Europe [Video]

Scary Pockets , the viral funk collective led by Ryan Lerman and Patreon co-founder and CEO Jack Conte and known for its playful covers, are going on tour this spring with dates throughout the West Coast, Colorado, Midwest, and Northeast, plus a jaunt through Europe in March–June. David Ryan Harris will join the band on the road, with Ariel Posen providing additional support on select dates. Along with the announcement, the band shared a live in-studio cover of Harry Styles ‘s “Late Night Talking” featuring vocalist Suzy Jones .

Scary Pockets will kick off the tour across the border in Vancouver, BC on March 20th and then travel down the West Coast with stops in Seattle (3/21), Portland (3/22), San Francisco (3/24), Los Angeles (3/25), and Solana Beach (3/26). From there, the band will head to Colorado for shows in Boulder (4/7), Denver (4/8), and Fort Collins (4/9), followed by a trek through the Midwest with stops in Minneapolis (4/12), Milwaukee (4/13), Chicago (4/14), and Ann Arbor (4/15).

After one more stop above the border in Toronto on April 16th, Scary Pockets will return to the States to wrap up the North American leg of the tour with shows in Boston (4/18), NYC (4/19), Brooklyn (4/20), Washington, D.C. (4/21), and Philadelphia (4/22).

Then in May and June, the band will traverse the U.K. and Europe, with dates in Prague (5/22), Berlin (5/23), Hamburg (5/24), Cologne (5/26), Amsterdam (5/27), Utrecht (5/29), Paris (5/30), London (6/1), Manchester (6/2), and Dublin (6/3).

The 2023 Scary Pockets touring lineup consists of Pockets fan favorites Mario Jose (vocals), Therese Curatolo (vocals), Nick Campbell (bass), Swatkins (talkbox, keys), Rob Humphreys (drums), Ryan Lerman (guitar), and Ariel Posen (guitar). The show will feature an opening set by legendary singer/songwriter David Ryan Harris.

Please note that group rates are typically offered for groups of 20 or more, but are sometimes offered for groups of 10 or more. Discounts range from 10-20% but vary from show to show (not all shows support a group rate due to high demand or other restrictions).

SMALL PURSES ONLY, PLEASE. PURSES ARE SUBJECT TO SEARCH To efficiently create a positive and safe experience for all patrons, only small purses (13″W x 4″D x 9″H and smaller) are allowed into the theater and all are subject to search.

All other bags  including backpacks and oversized purses are  strictly prohibited  and  bag storage is NOT available  at The Pabst, The Riverside, Turner Hall Ballroom or The Back Room @ Colectivo.  

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE PROHIBITED AND ARE NOT ALLOWED INTO ANY OF THE VENUES. Weapons, laser pens, signs, banners, electronic smoking devices (vapes, Juuls, etc.), oversized bags, backpacks, outside food and beverages including water, cans, bottles, alcohol, illegal substances, iPads/tablets, selfie sticks, laptops, professional audio recording devices (unless approved by artist), and any professional photography equipment. The use of vape pens inside the venues are prohibited as well.
