Leger also offer tours to the Oberammergau Passion Play , an event that only takes place every ten years, the next time this play will be performed is 2020! In 1633, Bavaria was hit by the Great Plague and the villagers of Oberammergau vowed that if lives were spared, the village would perform a play of the story of Christ's suffering, dying and resurrection. After this vow, no more lives were taken by the Plague, and after the first play in 1934, the villagers of Oberammergau have performed the play, every ten years.

We have not travelled with Leger…

We have not travelled with Leger before. We found the information poor whilst booking. After completing the process online, I found that I had to ring up to reserve seats on one the front two rows of the coach. It was only by accident that we found out that were not staying in Caen but in another hotel and still don't know whether we can eat our evening meal there. We still have no idea how or when we are crossing the channel. or when our departure time from Victoria is

The tour itself was brilliant

The tour itself was brilliant, Fred our guide had excellent knowledge and was happy to answer any questions along the way. The places we visited were well maintained and the museums has brilliant collections. The area we stayed was nice the hotel was basic nothing special, a little run down in the rooms. The taxi arranged to pick us at the start broke down so we made our own way to the coach pick up around 30 minutes away. Nothing was said by anyone when we arrived.

Booked a battlefield tour for 8 of us…

Booked a battlefield tour for 8 of us for next year everything went well Rob who took our booking was very polite and helpful . The only problem we had was paying the deposit they wanted £150 per person which does seem a lot for something 18 months off but we paid and just hope everything goes well.

Excellent Telephone Service

So easy booking a trip over the phone - the team were very helpful, informative and friendly and answered all my questions. The documentation followed by email almost by return - really impressed with the service received - especially as they offer home collection/return - saves me getting a taxi to the meeting point and back home after the trip. This will be my 3rd trip with Leger and if the last two are anything to go by, I’m sure it will be just as good. Looking forward to it already!

4 day D Day Normandy Landing.

Just got back from a 4 day DDay weekend. Can't praise Leger enough. Educated and entertained

The thing I love about Leger Holidays is the complete lack of stress. Everything is taken care of. You get in your taxi at the beginning of the holiday and you don't have to worry about a thing. I did a 4 day trip to Belgium and came away invigorated, not tired. Rich and Steph, the bus drivers, couldn't have been more helpful and Niall, the guide knew all there was to know about the Battle of the Bulge and other facets of WWII. Highly recommended.

A great introduction to the WW1 battlefields

We had a very interesting couple of days in Belgium and France visiting the battlefields. We had a knowledgeable guide who brought the history to life. Both days were very long and I would have forgone one stop each day to have a shorter day. The ceremony at the Menen gate was a must see. The travel was seamless despite the Easter delays at Dover, managed by fantastic coach drivers . The hotel we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The town we stayed in was lovely - several bars and restaurants although quite a few were closed on Easter Sunday. My only complaint is that the standard of the coach that took us to Folkestone wasn’t the same standard as the one taking us onward to the battlefields. I had expected a silver coach for the whole trip. The section for us to and from Folkestone was long and the coach was cramped and the driver was a bit rude over stops etc. That said we had a great time but wouldn’t go at Easter next time!

I phoned up to enquire about a Christmas solo break and George alleveiated any fears I had so I've booked.lm looking forward to it.

A little disappointed.

Very professional, tour guide has exceptional in depth knowledge of the subject matter.Coach was very modern and always clean and tidy. However the hotels restaurant wasn’t open in the evening and there wasn’t any restaurants or bars near by. We were taken into Caen but given limited time to find anything as the coach driver had used up his driving hours so we had to return to the hotel fairly quick.

My son took me on a Normandy Beaches 4…

My son took me on a Normandy Beaches 4 day break with Leger Holidays and I can’t recommend it highly enough. We had a fantastic time and the itinerary was so comprehensive. Our guide Freddie was so knowledgeable and really brought the tour to life. From the get go Fred was full of information and took us to so many sites, the days were long but had to be to be able to visit all the beaches, cemeteries and museums. Our two drivers John and ian looked after us the whole time and nothing was too much trouble. It took away all the stress of driving and navigating around France ourselves and we sat back and enjoyed the scenery and the luxury of being looked after. Our hotel The Ibis was comfortable, clean and centrally placed in the town and breakfasts were superb. I’m so glad we chose Leger and we will be doing other tours with them including the First World War tour and the SOE and Commando tour. All quiet on the western front.

Thank you for a very interesting and thought provoking holiday. The all quiet on the western front tour is a great introduction to those who want to learn about the conflict. Our tour guide has an encyclopedic knowledge of the first world war and I cannot remember a time when he had to refer to notes. His explanations were clear and easily understood. Thanks also to Nanna and Leah, our crew, who looked after us very well. They were very attentive and very professional. The Luxuria coach was kept very clean and in good order throughout. If there is a word of discord, the hotel could have made a better effort to clean the rooms. This did not ruin the trip but could have been better.

Fantastic experience

The staff. Went on Normandy battlefields tour 29th March for 4 nights. Fred our guide had so much knowledge that we were enthralled the whole trip. We learnt the "truth" not what is portrayed in films. John and Ian our drivers were fantastic and "bounced" off each other keeping us amused not to mention hydrated with the beverage runs. Would definitely use this company again if the staff all have the same attitude. Only thing to let it down was the hotel. Apparently its the first time they used this one IBIS at Caen and I hope they quickly change it for future travellers. Very small rooms, no safe so had to carry valuables constantly, no tea/coffee facilities in room which to be honest we could've coped with BUT they shut the bar about 9pm so if you went out for a meal there was nowhere to get a refreshment before bed. Having said that could not fault LEGER

Absolutely brilliant trip

Absolutely brilliant trip, Ben was a very knowledgable guide and coach staff very helpful. I enjoyed the trip immensely and felt the whole trip was well organised and made the experience well worth repeating. I have booked another trip, this time in October this year with friends to the Battle of the Bulge. Overall the holiday did what it says on…

Overall the holiday did what it says on the tin. However the hotel was a poor choice because it had no common seating area for guests to socialise after dinner. The bar area was inadequate. The food was widely disliked on the first night but seemed to get better until the last night which was good!

Excellent Tour

6 of us went on All Quiet on the Western Front. Drivers Mark and Matt were excellent particularly on the extremely narrow street which led to Allize Hotel Mouscron which itself was more than acceptable. It was a very busy full on tour with the drivers taking us to any number of WW1 battlefields. The tour guide Andrew was a fount of knowledge with the details of all the sites and battles fought there at his fingertips. He even slipped in extra stops on route when there was time. The optional meals and museums/trenches were well worth the money. We went to the Menen Gate Last Post ceremony on the Saturday night which was so moving. After this we walked down the main street to get a meal and all the restaurants were fully booked. We went into one asking for a table for six and the Maitre De was about to refuse us when our guide, Andrew, walked in and they began hugging and shakinghands. Andrew then pointed to us and said something to her and she gave us the thumbs up. We were in! Excellent meal. Lesson learned we asked for advice on where to eat on Sunday evening. They gave us the name of a restaurant just around the corner from the hotel and told us who to ask for. Again all 6 of us were into a very busy restaurant and the tour crew were eating there as well. They were ever so helpful in many ways and it was greatly appreciated. None of us could find fault with the tour. Well done to Andrew, Matt and Mark and to Leger for their excellent organising of it.

Leger Holidays has published its 2023/2024 Europe and Worldwide brochure, which includes 14 new escorted tours and nine new river cruises.

The brochure features destinations across 25 European countries, including Italy, Austria, France, Germany and Croatia, as well as further afield to the US, Japan, India and Australia.

The tours range from four-day breaks to 19-day tours, with departure dates available up to the end of October 2024.

The brochure also features rail experiences, flowers and gardens holidays, festive breaks, Alpine escapes, solo traveller tours, river cruises, battlefield tours, and motorsport and horse racing events.   All holidays include escorted coach travel with a range of UK joining points, hotel accommodation with breakfast, and specified excursions and other meals.

  Agents can order hard copy supplies of the brochure on BP Trade Gate or it can be viewed online. Holidays can be secured with a £50pp deposit with nothing else to pay until approximately six weeks before departure.

Leger Shearings Group’s head of retail sales, Ashley Dellow, said: "Customers are eager to continue ticking off bucket-list destinations post-pandemic and agents would be wise to encourage them to start planning now for 2023 and 2024.

We have not travelled with Leger…

We have not travelled with Leger before. We found the information poor whilst booking. After completing the process online, I found that I had to ring up to reserve seats on one the front two rows of the coach. It was only by accident that we found out that were not staying in Caen but in another hotel and still don't know whether we can eat our evening meal there. We still have no idea how or when we are crossing the channel. or when our departure time from Victoria is

The tour itself was brilliant

The tour itself was brilliant, Fred our guide had excellent knowledge and was happy to answer any questions along the way. The places we visited were well maintained and the museums has brilliant collections. The area we stayed was nice the hotel was basic nothing special, a little run down in the rooms. The taxi arranged to pick us at the start broke down so we made our own way to the coach pick up around 30 minutes away. Nothing was said by anyone when we arrived.

Booked a battlefield tour for 8 of us…

Booked a battlefield tour for 8 of us for next year everything went well Rob who took our booking was very polite and helpful . The only problem we had was paying the deposit they wanted £150 per person which does seem a lot for something 18 months off but we paid and just hope everything goes well.

Excellent Telephone Service

So easy booking a trip over the phone - the team were very helpful, informative and friendly and answered all my questions. The documentation followed by email almost by return - really impressed with the service received - especially as they offer home collection/return - saves me getting a taxi to the meeting point and back home after the trip. This will be my 3rd trip with Leger and if the last two are anything to go by, I’m sure it will be just as good. Looking forward to it already!

4 day D Day Normandy Landing.

Just got back from a 4 day DDay weekend. Can't praise Leger enough. We had John and Ian as driver's they were outstanding They looked after us and entertained us A real credit to Leger Holiday's Then we had Fred Greenhow as our guide And he was brilliant He knew everything we wanted to know. Educated and entertained

The thing I love about Leger Holidays is the complete lack of stress. Everything is taken care of. You get in your taxi at the beginning of the holiday and you don't have to worry about a thing. I did a 4 day trip to Belgium and came away invigorated, not tired. Rich and Steph, the bus drivers, couldn't have been more helpful and Niall, the guide knew all there was to know about the Battle of the Bulge and other facets of WWII. Highly recommended.

A great introduction to the WW1 battlefields

We had a very interesting couple of days in Belgium and France visiting the battlefields. We had a knowledgeable guide who brought the history to life. Both days were very long and I would have forgone one stop each day to have a shorter day. The ceremony at the Menen gate was a must see. The travel was seamless despite the Easter delays at Dover, managed by fantastic coach drivers . The hotel we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The town we stayed in was lovely - several bars and restaurants although quite a few were closed on Easter Sunday. My only complaint is that the standard of the coach that took us to Folkestone wasn’t the same standard as the one taking us onward to the battlefields. I had expected a silver coach for the whole trip. The section for us to and from Folkestone was long and the coach was cramped and the driver was a bit rude over stops etc. That said we had a great time but wouldn’t go at Easter next time!

I phoned up to enquire about a Christmas solo break and George alleveiated any fears I had so I've booked.lm looking forward to it.

A little disappointed.

Very professional, tour guide has exceptional in depth knowledge of the subject matter.Coach was very modern and always clean and tidy. However the hotels restaurant wasn’t open in the evening and there wasn’t any restaurants or bars near by. We were taken into Caen but given limited time to find anything as the coach driver had used up his driving hours so we had to return to the hotel fairly quick.

My son took me on a Normandy Beaches 4…

My son took me on a Normandy Beaches 4 day break with Leger Holidays and I can’t recommend it highly enough. We had a fantastic time and the itinerary was so comprehensive. Our guide Freddie was so knowledgeable and really brought the tour to life. From the get go Fred was full of information and took us to so many sites, the days were long but had to be to be able to visit all the beaches, cemeteries and museums. Our two drivers John and ian looked after us the whole time and nothing was too much trouble. It took away all the stress of driving and navigating around France ourselves and we sat back and enjoyed the scenery and the luxury of being looked after. Our hotel The Ibis was comfortable, clean and centrally placed in the town and breakfasts were superb. I’m so glad we chose Leger and we will be doing other tours with them including the First World War tour and the SOE and Commando tour. All quiet on the western front.

Thank you for a very interesting and thought provoking holiday. The all quiet on the western front tour is a great introduction to those who want to learn about the conflict. Our tour guide has an encyclopedic knowledge of the first world war and I cannot remember a time when he had to refer to notes. His explanations were clear and easily understood. Thanks also to Nanna and Leah, our crew, who looked after us very well. They were very attentive and very professional. The Luxuria coach was kept very clean and in good order throughout. If there is a word of discord, the hotel could have made a better effort to clean the rooms. This did not ruin the trip but could have been better.

Fantastic experience

The staff. Went on Normandy battlefields tour 29th March for 4 nights. Fred our guide had so much knowledge that we were enthralled the whole trip. We learnt the "truth" not what is portrayed in films. John and Ian our drivers were fantastic and "bounced" off each other keeping us amused not to mention hydrated with the beverage runs. Would definitely use this company again if the staff all have the same attitude. Only thing to let it down was the hotel. Apparently its the first time they used this one IBIS at Caen and I hope they quickly change it for future travellers. Very small rooms, no safe so had to carry valuables constantly, no tea/coffee facilities in room which to be honest we could've coped with BUT they shut the bar about 9pm so if you went out for a meal there was nowhere to get a refreshment before bed. Having said that could not fault LEGER

Absolutely brilliant trip

Absolutely brilliant trip, Ben was a very knowledgable guide and coach staff very helpful. I enjoyed the trip immensely and felt the whole trip was well organised and made the experience well worth repeating. I have booked another trip, this time in October this year with friends to the Battle of the Bulge. Overall the holiday did what it says on…

Overall the holiday did what it says on the tin. However the hotel was a poor choice because it had no common seating area for guests to socialise after dinner. The bar area was inadequate. The food was widely disliked on the first night but seemed to get better until the last night which was good!

Excellent Tour

6 of us went on All Quiet on the Western Front. Drivers Mark and Matt were excellent particularly on the extremely narrow street which led to Allize Hotel Mouscron which itself was more than acceptable. It was a very busy full on tour with the drivers taking us to any number of WW1 battlefields. The tour guide Andrew was a fount of knowledge with the details of all the sites and battles fought there at his fingertips. He even slipped in extra stops on route when there was time. The optional meals and museums/trenches were well worth the money. We went to the Menen Gate Last Post ceremony on the Saturday night which was so moving. After this we walked down the main street to get a meal and all the restaurants were fully booked. We went into one asking for a table for six and the Maitre De was about to refuse us when our guide, Andrew, walked in and they began hugging and shakinghands. Andrew then pointed to us and said something to her and she gave us the thumbs up. We were in! Excellent meal. Lesson learned we asked for advice on where to eat on Sunday evening. They gave us the name of a restaurant just around the corner from the hotel and told us who to ask for. Again all 6 of us were into a very busy restaurant and the tour crew were eating there as well. They were ever so helpful in many ways and it was greatly appreciated. None of us could find fault with the tour. Well done to Andrew, Matt and Mark and to Leger for their excellent organising of it.

The thing I love about Leger Holidays is the complete lack of stress. Everything is taken care of. You get in your taxi at the beginning of the holiday and you don't have to worry about a thing. I did a 4 day trip to Belgium and came away invigorated, not tired. Rich and Steph, the bus drivers, couldn't have been more helpful and Niall, the guide knew all there was to know about the Battle of the Bulge and other facets of WWII. Highly recommended.

A great introduction to the WW1 battlefields

We had a very interesting couple of days in Belgium and France visiting the battlefields. We had a knowledgeable guide who brought the history to life. Both days were very long and I would have forgone one stop each day to have a shorter day. The ceremony at the Menen gate was a must see. The travel was seamless despite the Easter delays at Dover, managed by fantastic coach drivers . The hotel we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The town we stayed in was lovely - several bars and restaurants although quite a few were closed on Easter Sunday. My only complaint is that the standard of the coach that took us to Folkestone wasn’t the same standard as the one taking us onward to the battlefields. I had expected a silver coach for the whole trip. The section for us to and from Folkestone was long and the coach was cramped and the driver was a bit rude over stops etc. That said we had a great time but wouldn’t go at Easter next time!

I phoned up to enquire about a Christmas solo break and George alleveiated any fears I had so I've booked.lm looking forward to it.

A little disappointed.

Very professional, tour guide has exceptional in depth knowledge of the subject matter.Coach was very modern and always clean and tidy. However the hotels restaurant wasn’t open in the evening and there wasn’t any restaurants or bars near by. We were taken into Caen but given limited time to find anything as the coach driver had used up his driving hours so we had to return to the hotel fairly quick.

My son took me on a Normandy Beaches 4…

My son took me on a Normandy Beaches 4 day break with Leger Holidays and I can’t recommend it highly enough. We had a fantastic time and the itinerary was so comprehensive. Our guide Freddie was so knowledgeable and really brought the tour to life. From the get go Fred was full of information and took us to so many sites, the days were long but had to be to be able to visit all the beaches, cemeteries and museums. Our two drivers John and ian looked after us the whole time and nothing was too much trouble. It took away all the stress of driving and navigating around France ourselves and we sat back and enjoyed the scenery and the luxury of being looked after. Our hotel The Ibis was comfortable, clean and centrally placed in the town and breakfasts were superb. I’m so glad we chose Leger and we will be doing other tours with them including the First World War tour and the SOE and Commando tour. All quiet on the western front.

Thank you for a very interesting and thought provoking holiday. The all quiet on the western front tour is a great introduction to those who want to learn about the conflict. Our tour guide has an encyclopedic knowledge of the first world war and I cannot remember a time when he had to refer to notes. His explanations were clear and easily understood. Thanks also to Nanna and Leah, our crew, who looked after us very well. They were very attentive and very professional. The Luxuria coach was kept very clean and in good order throughout. If there is a word of discord, the hotel could have made a better effort to clean the rooms. This did not ruin the trip but could have been better.

Fantastic experience

The staff. Went on Normandy battlefields tour 29th March for 4 nights. Fred our guide had so much knowledge that we were enthralled the whole trip. We learnt the "truth" not what is portrayed in films. John and Ian our drivers were fantastic and "bounced" off each other keeping us amused not to mention hydrated with the beverage runs. Would definitely use this company again if the staff all have the same attitude. Only thing to let it down was the hotel. Apparently its the first time they used this one IBIS at Caen and I hope they quickly change it for future travellers. Very small rooms, no safe so had to carry valuables constantly, no tea/coffee facilities in room which to be honest we could've coped with BUT they shut the bar about 9pm so if you went out for a meal there was nowhere to get a refreshment before bed. Having said that could not fault LEGER

Absolutely brilliant trip

Absolutely brilliant trip, Ben was a very knowledgable guide and coach staff very helpful. I enjoyed the trip immensely and felt the whole trip was well organised and made the experience well worth repeating. I have booked another trip, this time in October this year with friends to the Battle of the Bulge. Overall the holiday did what it says on…

Overall the holiday did what it says on the tin. However the hotel was a poor choice because it had no common seating area for guests to socialise after dinner. The bar area was inadequate. The food was widely disliked on the first night but seemed to get better until the last night which was good!

Excellent Tour

6 of us went on All Quiet on the Western Front. Drivers Mark and Matt were excellent particularly on the extremely narrow street which led to Allize Hotel Mouscron which itself was more than acceptable. It was a very busy full on tour with the drivers taking us to any number of WW1 battlefields. The tour guide Andrew was a fount of knowledge with the details of all the sites and battles fought there at his fingertips. He even slipped in extra stops on route when there was time. The optional meals and museums/trenches were well worth the money. We went to the Menen Gate Last Post ceremony on the Saturday night which was so moving. After this we walked down the main street to get a meal and all the restaurants were fully booked. We went into one asking for a table for six and the Maitre De was about to refuse us when our guide, Andrew, walked in and they began hugging and shakinghands. Andrew then pointed to us and said something to her and she gave us the thumbs up. We were in! Excellent meal. Lesson learned we asked for advice on where to eat on Sunday evening. They gave us the name of a restaurant just around the corner from the hotel and told us who to ask for. Again all 6 of us were into a very busy restaurant and the tour crew were eating there as well. They were ever so helpful in many ways and it was greatly appreciated. None of us could find fault with the tour. Well done to Andrew, Matt and Mark and to Leger for their excellent organising of it.
