The best way to see and get a feel for the Columbia River is by boat. We took the two hour Sternwheeler cruise and loved every single minute of it. It was a beautiful day so we stayed outside on deck the entire time. Everyone was rushing to get to the open top deck so it was crowded but the secret middle deck is where its at. For those interested, it's replica of the sternwheelers that cruised the Columbia beginning in the 1850's and was built in Hood River by Nichols Brothers boat builders. Sorry, I'm a history buff and love this stuff. During the whole cruise Captain Tom provides narration about the river's history and points out the various species of wildlife. We saw Osprey and a Bald Eagle during our cruise. You also get an incredible view of the 800 foot high Beacon Rock. . The vessel is wheelchair accessible - including the bathroom and main deck bar area - but I'm not sure how you get to the upper decks if you can't climb stairs. I never saw a public elevator but of course, I wasn't in need of one. Our cruise ticket price ($40 each) did not include meals but there is a snack bar that offers sandwiches, chips, candy and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase. It was so cool buying a "glass" of wine and sitting back to watch the river go by. I'd also suggest you bring a jacket since it can get mighty windy out on the water. Oh, and buy the picture they take of you before you board. It's not required but is a great souvenir. I have ours framed and sitting on our dresser at home. Reminder of a beautiful day. Want to go back and take the Bonneville Dam & Lockage cruise next year.

Great food and atmosphere. The service was excellent. Will definitely be back next time we are in town.

For sightseeing only: When we went there was no indoor seating available at all, the entire cruise you have to sit outside. It is very windy so bring a hair tie or hat. You can purchase food in the cafe gift shop and bring it aboard to eat, there is basic cafe drinks, sandwiches and chips. You can also buy drinks/cocktails at the bar inside. For a warm summer night this was a ton of fun and a special date night. The views are absolutely gorgeous. You have to pay for parking either inside the gift shop or via a parking app.

Thank you for joining us for a cruise, Beth! On the evening you cruised as a sightseer, all the seats on the first and second cruise were taken by the sold out dinner cruise. It can get breezy in the Columbia Gorge, thanks for sharing that tip about bringing a hair tie or hat. We're so glad you enjoyed the sights from the boat as well as the drinks at the bar. You posted some great photos — thank you! Thanks again for joining us for your date night. We hope to see you again in the future!

Undeniably delightful dinner cruise! The food was delicious, the service spectacular and the captain of the ship navigated his Sternwheeler flawlessly. We participated in this cruise during the Fall and enjoyed it immensely. We will be returning this summer with our grandsons so that they can experience the magic. We're looking forward to partaking the views (more daylight) and a sunset. We highly, highly recommend this experience and this company.

WOW! Super fantastic experience! Very easy to book tickets through your smart phone Easy to find, the boat was vintage beautiful, with plenty of seating on the top two decks for sightseeing. Once the cruise starts, there is a full bar and food (think stadium food like hot dogs and such). There are brunch and dinner cruises available with all the bells & whistles too. The stern wheel is super cool, actually really operational and not just for show. The Captain shares info tidbits along the way (if you want to hear every word you need to be on second deck/inside where bar is). What's also great, you pay for the East or West along the Columbia; you're invited to stay and ride the other way for free! What's not to love?!

Best $76 I've spent on a two person boat cruise. Especially considering this was a spur of the moment decision after my muscles were too sore to see the Columbia River from a hike. The captain had great commentary. There were so many wild birds to be seen. Wind surfers and kayakers were out. And the scenery was stunning. So many colors of blue with beautiful trees and landscapes. And we got to go both east and west for two hours total of cruising time! I'm also normally prone to seasickness - didn't even need my Dramamine for this trip. Pro Tip: Eat at a restaurant in town (2 minutes past the cruise location) Double Pro Tip: Expect to pay $7 in parking at the lot. You can actually pay this in the gift shop rather than having to pay on your phone. Triple Pro Tip: The lower bow is usually empty so you can get there early and stake it out for yourself Quadruple Pro Tip: Book this cruise already!

Incredible experience. The ship is quite old, but it is still beautiful. Seeing the wheel turn in the back is truly incredible. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They truly want you to have the best experience possible. The views are stunning. Never a bad view from the three levels of the ship. The food was also exquisite. Salad was just alright, but the beef tenderloin plate certainly made up for it. Simply delectable. Overall, just an awesome experience that is totally worth the money. Take your partner out for a date, or take the kids too for a fun time. One of the best things to do around

One of the lesser views from the ship. I'm telling you, the views are totally worth it.

My family and I did the brunch cruise and it was amazing! Well worth it. All you can eat delicious food, attentive and friendly staff (Thanks Jeff), and informative narration. They recognized our special family get together and they also recognized birthdays and anniversaries of passengers which really personalized the experience. A must do for visitors because you can explore the gorge from a vantage point that you don't get from the highway. We saw eagles, windsurfers, sailboats, and the extra long trains that pass through the gorge. Great value.

We went to celebrate my fiancés birthday. We got right on, and it happened to be a pretty cold day unfortunately. The main doors were wide open and I was freezing but they closed it halfway through. The service was AMAZING! Hannah was our server and checked on us quite often and made sure we had everything we needed. The views were so pretty and it was definitely something we would like to enjoy again.

Sternwheeler Columbia Gorge: Dine and Cruise Oregon’s Mighty Columbia

Written by elizabeth rose, travel | oregon.

After a full day of hiking in the Columbia River Gorge we got in line for our chartered dinner cruise on the Sternwheeler, Columbia Gorge , docked at Cascade Locks, Oregon. As we chatted in line, an imposing figure came up the gangway. It was Captain Tom Cramblett, also the mayor of scenic Cascade Locks. He greeted each of us and then headed to the wheelhouse.

Summer Cruises on the Sternwheeler Columbia Gorge

The Sternwheeler, Columbia Gorge, spends the summer months taking tourists, diners and partygoers on the Columbia River. During each cruise, Captain Tom provides narration about the history of the area and points out any wildlife we might encounter. You never know when you might spot an eagle or a family of deer.

Osprey - Sternwheeler, Columbia Gorge

We saw an osprey as we cruised the Columbia River. Photo by Elizabeth R Rose

May through October, this authentic sternwheeler takes visitors on a laid back cruise around the river, under the Bridge of the Gods, past the Native American salmon fishermen and back to the dock. You can take a sightseeing tour, a brunch cruise, a dinner cruise or join in on a specialty cruise like the 4 th of July Fireworks cruise. Our group chartered the boat for a buffet dinner. It was a party on the water.

The sternwheeler has a full bar so we made our way to the upper deck with cocktails in hand for a 360-degree view of the Columbia River. Since the boat doesn’t travel very fast and there was some sun remaining in the day, we settled into the seats on the open deck. An osprey flew overhead and we relaxed. It was a great place for socializing and taking photos. What a backdrop… the cliffs of the Columbia Gorge and the wide river.

A Bit of Columbia Gorge History

Captain Tom told us about the people who fished the waters before the dams were put in the river. The area was rich with salmon and the native people speared them from platforms built over the rapids.

As we sailed, the staff set out the dinner buffet. We headed for the main cabin and sat comfortably at tables for eight. Since we were a group that knew each other, it was perfect. We stood in line a bit for our turn at the buffet. One of our friends, celebrating his birthday, purchased a bottle of wine for the table. As the sun began to sink behind the mountains lining the river, we enjoyed our small desserts.

After dinner, the vessel headed downstream and we returned to the upper deck with jackets. Captain Tom pointed out the Native American fishing platforms. Dusk is an ideal time for fishing, so there were Native families (they have fishing rights) out on the platforms fishing just as their ancestors had done.

Native Fishing - Sternwheeler, Columbia Gorge

This family was fishing in the traditional way. Only tribal members have fishing rights in this area. Photo by Elizabeth R Rose

As we passed under the Bridge of the Gods, Captain Tom explained that it was first built in 1926 but named after a natural Bridge of the Gods that covered a part of the Columbia River around 1450 AD. The original was actually a blockage caused by a massive landslide filling the Columbia River Valley with more than five square miles of debris.

Bridge of the Gods - Sternwheeler, Columbia Gorge

It’s hard to imagine that there was once a land bridge here. Photo by Elizabeth R Rose

Legend has it that at one point the early inhabitants could walk across the river on this natural bridge. But then the Bonneville Dam was built and the area where we were traveling became wide and deep.

Bonneville Dam - Sternwheeler, Columbia Gorge

After looking at the marvel of engineering that makes up the century-old Columbia River Historic Highway, the vessel turned and began the slow return to the dock. At that point the outlines of the mountains were dark grey and nightfall was imminent.

The cruise wasn’t long, but it gave us a different perspective on what people call “the Mighty Columbia.” And it was a relaxing way to enjoy dinner with a group. It was a quick 45 minute drive back to Portland.

Gorge Sternwheeler Cruise Options

The Sternwheeler operates in Portland from November through April. One of the most exciting opportunities is the repositioning cruise when the sternwheeler moves from Portland to Cascade Locks and vice versa. These twice-a-year cruises offer participants a chance to take a longer cruise on the Columbia Gorge and go through the locks at Bonneville Dam. The day includes a return bus trip.

There are shorter sightseeing cruises and brunch cruises with a 2-hour cruise, buffet featuring locally sourced breakfast, lunch and dessert items prepared fresh on board, champagne, ever changing views and, of course, a narration of the sights.

When You Go to Sternwheeler, Columbia Gorge

The company that runs the Sternwheeler Columbia Gorge also owns The Portland Spirit, a more modern touring and dining boat based in Portland and the Portland Explorer Jet Boat. You can check out both of those online here .

You can get more information about the Sternwheeler Columbia Gorge on this website: Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler cruise information .

Dress is casual onboard the sternwheeler. Wear flat-soled shoes and take a jacket with you as the river can be windy at times.

Popular Columbia River Gorge Sternwheeler Cruises Appear to Be Coming to an End Under Their Current Operator

Portland spirit says it has been unable to reach an agreement with the port of cascade locks to complete a repower of the vessel by 2024..

sternwheeler cruise columbia river

The iconic Columbia River Sternwheeler may take its final cruise at the end of this year—at least under its current operators.

Today, the general manager of Portland Spirit announced in a subscriber email that the business would no longer handle the vessel as of Jan. 1, 2023.

The beloved dinner and sightseeing boat is owned by the Port of Cascade Locks, not Portland Spirit, which has its own fleet that includes the namesake two-level yacht often parked in front of Salmon Street Springs, the Willamette Star and the Crystal Dolphin. The company has been in a long-term contract with the port to run tours on the Sternwheeler since 2006. However, it says the vessel now needs repowering with a new or remanufactured engine along with a remodel of the interior.

In all, those projects would cost an estimated $3 million. However, Portland Spirit says it has not been able to reach an agreement with the port that would allow it to complete the repower by 2024. Right now, that means there would be no more Portland Spirit-led cruises running through the Gorge except, perhaps, the summertime Bigfoot Adventure , which takes place on a 35-passenger jet boat.

“We have loved operating the port’s historic vessel for the past 16 years,” the letter stated. “At this point, we don’t know when the Sternwheeler will operate again in the future. In the meantime, we will invest in our Portland-based experiences and all our wonderful employees in Cascade Locks will be offered employment in Portland.”

Meanwhile, the Port Commission is considering its next steps—and that does not include moving the vessel and operating it elsewhere.

“The Sternwheeler has been a community asset in the region, especially in Cascade Locks,” Olga Kaganova, general manager for the port, tells WW . “Multiple options are under consideration. It does need a repower and work.”

The port says negotiations to date lack agreement on major terms, and it plans to send the next and final iteration of the agreement to Portland Spirit as soon as it is finalized. But ultimately, the commission wants Cascade Locks to know it remains invested there and nothing is off the table at this point, whether that means the port potentially takes over the Sternwheeler or enters an agreement with a different private company.

“What is the best outcome for the community?” Kaganova adds. “That’s the focus of the commission.”

Your last chance to ride the Sternwheeler through the Gorge with Portland Spirit is Oct. 30. Following the repositioning cruise—a one-way trip from Cascade Locks to Portland on Nov. 5—the paddle wheel boat will have limited local operations through Dec. 31.

Willamette Week’s reporting has concrete impacts that change laws, force action from civic leaders, and drive compromised politicians from public office. Support WW's journalism today.

Future of Columbia Gorge sternwheeler uncertain as Cascade Locks courts larger cruise line

sternwheeler cruise columbia river

Tourists file in for a ride on the Columbia River Gorge sternwheeler in Cascade Locks.

Kristian Foden-Vencil / OPB

For generations, members of the Umatilla, Yakima, Warm Springs and Nez Perce tribes have fished for salmon in the Cascade Locks area. In town, you can stop at little tents on the side of the road to buy it.

Kim Brigham’s family has sold fish in Cascade Locks for as long as she can remember. In 2014, port officials suggested she open a brick-and-mortar restaurant.

“We just kind of jumped into it,” said Brigham. “We knew that we had a good product and we had a good name here.”

The family cashed out their 401ks and built the Brigham Fish Market . Business has been brisk.

Umatilla tribal member Kim Brigham built the Brigham Fish Market with her family.

Umatilla tribal member Kim Brigham built the Brigham Fish Market with her family.

The restaurant gets a few diners from the local Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler . But Brigham thinks they’d get more if a larger cruise liner docked in town. Those tourists pay $5,000 for a week on the water, as opposed to $40 for an afternoon on the sternwheeler.

“I think it probably would help,” said Brigham. “I mean we’re a small business. We can’t sit that many people at once. But it would be nice.”

Cascade Locks used to be one of the few inexpensive towns along the Columbia River Gorge. But a few years ago, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs planned a casino in town. Developers bought land in anticipation; when the casino didn’t get state approval, they started building anyway.

City administrator Gordon Zimmerman said developers built single-family homes and the town is now a commuter hub for Portland and Hood River.

“We got discovered, because we had affordable housing,” said Zimmerman.

Cascade Locks city administrator Gordon Zimmerman said the town was more widely discovered in the 2000s after developers bought land in anticipation of a casino being built.

Cascade Locks city administrator Gordon Zimmerman said the town was more widely discovered in the 2000s after developers bought land in anticipation of a casino being built.

The number of jobs in Cascade Locks over the next decade is expected to grow 42% . That’s significantly higher than the national average of 33%.

After years of financial struggle, port leaders want to build on the city’s economic success. So they are negotiating to bring American Cruise Lines into town. The company’s big vessels can carry more than 200 passengers and staff, who would likely spend plenty of money if they docked locally.

But there’s a problem. The port is small and only has one dock, which is dedicated to the sternwheeler. So port leaders are now trying to decide whether it’s best to move the sternwheeler or build new docks so they can have both the sternwheeler and cruise ships.

“A party interested in building docks in Cascade Locks…would increase tourism, bring out larger vessels, increase the number of people who are able to actually ride the sternwheeler,” said port general manager Olga Kaganova .

The port owns the sternwheeler. But day-to-day operations are run by American Waterways Inc., better known as Portland Spirit , the company that runs a fleet of tourist boats in Oregon.

Portland Spirit’s contract with the port is scheduled to sunset in December and negotiations are getting tense.

“It’s such an icon out here that you cannot imagine the Gorge without imagining the sternwheeler,” she said.

Building new docks would solve the port’s problems. But which organization pays for what improvement is a sticking point. The sternwheeler, for example, would need a utility hook up and ramps for passengers with disabilities.

Kaganova thinks the port could make more money from sternwheeler operations. She said the port had been receiving around $65,000 a year in revenue sharing for the sternwheeler, though that number represents a hit from COVID-19 disruptions.

“Our previous contract with (Portland Spirit) has certainly limited the revenue to the port, and the port believes that it could be operated for an increased revenue,” she said.

There are other sticking points in the negotiations. For example, the sternwheeler needs $3 million in restoration work to its engines and interior.

Portland Spirit general manager Dennis Corwin said deciding who pays for what upgrades has also been frustrating.

“We approached them about four years ago to start that conversation for repowering and doing some cosmetic updates, and the process has really taken a long time,” said Corwin.

The sternwheeler was built as a reproduction in 1983. Management said the engines and interior need replacing.

Another sticking point in negotiations revolves around which sternwheeler improvements Portland Spirit should cover, and which the port would pay for. No decision has been made and, meanwhile, it can take two years to fulfill a marine parts order.

“We’re now looking probably at 2025 before this process is complete,” said Corwin, “if the parts are ordered right away.”

Also, to recoup millions of dollars in investments, the new contract needs to last 15 years not just five, said Corwin.

“We’re all for economic development and growth in the region and in Cascade Locks,” he said. “But there does seem to be a little bit of cart (before the) horse scenario going on here.”

Corwin said Portland Spirit officials are amenable to moving the Gorge sternwheeler to another dock, but there are other problems. For example, maneuvering an old-tech sternwheeler is tricky.

“There are extreme winds and extreme currents,” said Corwin. “We’re dealing with a 40-year-old ship again that has got very different navigation ability than the modern-day vessels with bow thrusters and such.”

Under the current agreement, Portland Spirit pays the port a monthly concession fee, regardless of gains or losses. Indeed, during the years of the great recession, the nearby Eagle Creek wildfire and during the pandemic, ridership was so low the sternwheeler did not turn a profit. It kept paying the port however, as busy years supplement slower years.

In Portland Spirit’s last contract proposal, it included a payment increase of more than 50%. But so far, the two parties have been unable to reach and agreement.

Over the last five years, the sternwheeler has seen an average 35,000 passengers from Marine Park in Cascade Locks. The best year was in 2018 when there were 48,000. The worst year was during the pandemic in 2020 when only 16,000 passengers bought a ticket. Those ticket fees help Portland Spirit pay for things like the Cascade Locks Historical Museum , the visitor center and the annual fireworks show.

Corwin ended contract negotiations this month. He said the sternwheeler can no longer take bookings for next year.

“I can’t really in good conscience sign contracts if I don’t know I have a vessel,” said Corwin. “And right now, I don’t.”

There is a work-around for the port, but it’s not easy.

Cruise ships could dock on nearby Thunder Island. But that would involve working around tribal fishing platforms and negotiating fishing rights.

Cruise ships have a hard time docking on Thunder Island at Cascade Locks because of tribal fishing platforms. Oct. 2022

Cruise line captains don’t want to deal with such delicate issues. So the port is talking to the tribes to see if there’s some wiggle room.

Meanwhile, contract talks over sternwheeler operations are deadlocked, and it isn’t taking any bookings after Dec. 31.

The Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler will keep running until Dec. 31. After that, operators no longer have a contract with the Port of Cascade Locks.

News Regarding Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler

News Regarding Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler

Gorge Home Page Slider

On Monday, October 3, 2022 we issued a press release to the media sharing the disheartening news that we will no longer operate the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler as of January 1, 2023. Additionally, the Locks Waterfront Grill will permanently close as of November 1, 2022.

The vessel is owned by the Port of Cascade Locks and since 2006, we have been in a long-term contract to operate the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler, Locks Waterfront Grill and Visitor Center in Marine Park. However, in order to operate smoothly for years to come, the vessel requires a repower (new engines, various propulsion components, control panel, etc.). Additionally, we would like to renovate the interior to better showcase the vessel’s historic beauty. We estimate a cost of approximately 3 million dollars between the repower and remodel, which must be amortized over time in order to justify the extraordinary cost.

Unfortunately, we were not able to come to a timely agreement with the Port to renew our long term contract that would allow us to complete a repower of the vessel by 2024.

We have loved operating the Port’s historic vessel for the past 17 years.  Our final public cruise in the Columbia River Gorge was on October 30, 2022. Read about the final cruise on KOIN.

Sights of Elektrostal, Moscow region

2024 Author : Harold Hamphrey | [email protected] . Last modified: 2023-12-17 10:06

In the Moscow region there is a small cozy town Elektrostal. Its sights for the most part have no historical value due to the fact that the city has a relatively small history. But for a visiting tourist or city dweller, they will be of interest. There is something to see, where to go to have an exciting leisure time.

Today the population of the city is 158 thousand people. Until the beginning of the 20th century there were several small workers' settlements here. After the opening of the electrometallurgical and equipment factories, the place began to be called the natural boundary of Calm. The construction of the railway made this settlement accessible, and workers and families flocked here to earn money. In 1925, the station was named Elektrostal, and the rapid increase in population allowed the village to receive the status of a city.

The founder of the city is a prominent Russian industrialist Nikolai Vtorov. It was he who opened the plant here, creating, in fact, a city-forming enterprise that is still operating. In Soviet times, it was a closed facility, and it was not easy to get to work here.

Today Elektrostal is a promising industrial city with a great future and a heroic past. It bears the proud name "City of Military and Labor Glory".

You can learn about the sights of Elektrostal with descriptions and photos here. There are places for walking, outdoor activities and cultural development.

sights of the electric steel of the Moscow region

Those who come to the city by train are met by a monument to the metallurgist. It was installed in November 2017 for the 100th anniversary of the Elektrostal plant. The attraction is made in the style of constructivism. The monument quickly won the love of the townspeople, because this city is supported by ordinary workers.

Elektrost altsy and the founding father of the plant, Nikolai Vtorov, are honored. In 2002, a monument was opened in honor of him, which became a landmark of the city of Elektrostal. The bronze sculpture is installed on the site where once stood a monument to the leader of the world proletariat, V. I. Lenin. Times change, characters change. Today, the plant, founded a century ago, is the largest in Russia. Vtorov himself, whose fortune was estimated at 60 million rubles in gold, according to Forbes magazine, was the owner of the largest capital at the beginning of the century. He was a banker, an industrialist, an entrepreneur, a man of action.

The monument was erected byinitiative of the townspeople who wished to perpetuate the monument to the great man.

One of the popular places for spending weekends and evenings among citizens and guests of the city is the Park of Culture and Leisure. Here you can ride attractions for children and adults, play slot machines, rollerblade or bike. The park is divided into two zones. Fans of unhurried walks in the fresh air make a promenade on the Quiet Alley, and those who prefer outdoor activities flock to the Entertainment Alley. The park has a summer stage, where concerts and cafes are regularly held.

Elektrostal attractions

Until 1999, there was no central museum among the attractions of Elektrostal in the Moscow Region. The expositions were exhibited in schools, the house of culture, in factory museums. The city was closed, so there was no large influx of tourists and visitors. The appearance of the historical and art museum made it possible for residents and guests of the city to learn a lot of useful information about their native land, the formation of the production process, and the difficult years of the war. The exposition consists of paintings by local artists, historical artifacts, household items, documents, books and much more. The collection is updated regularly. It also hosts outdoor exhibitions, which are always popular with the townspeople.

One of the main attractions of Elektrostal, the photo of which is available to almost every resident or visitor, is the Main Alley. On herpassers-by like to stroll along shady paths, townspeople rest by the fountain after a hard shift at the plant. Flower beds are the decoration of the alley. In 2006, a flower festival was held here for the first time, which has become traditional. Each enterprise of the city and private individuals give residents a real composition of fresh flowers, which pleases with bright colors all summer long. A riot of colors, aromas and a flight of fantasy reigns here. Walking through the park, you can see Snow White with a basket, a bright well, a multi-tiered cake made from fresh flowers, hearts of lovers or a fabulous house. It is almost impossible not to take a photo against the background of these compositions.

There is a cultural center in the city. It hosts performances by local creative teams and visiting stars, performances and circus performances.

In 1971, the ice palace "Crystal" was opened in the city. Almost immediately, a children's and youth hockey team was organized, which gained sports fame. This is the home sports arena for the Elektrostal hockey team. Matches of different levels are held on the ice.

There are sections for children who go in for hockey or figure skating. Citizens come here with their families to cheer for their favorite team or go ice skating.

Elektrostal is a city with a heroic past. During the war years, more than 12 thousand citizens came to the recruiting station and went to the front to defend their homeland. Almost 4 thousand of them did not return from the battle. To these heroesdedicated to the memorial complex with the inextinguishable Eternal Flame, opened in 1968

But the electricians took part in the war in Afghanistan and Chechnya. By decision of the city authorities, their memory is also immortalized in the memorial complex.

It has become a good tradition for newlyweds to lay flowers at this monument.

attractions of the city of Elektrostal

In 1999, a museum and exhibition complex was opened in the city, where, in addition to the exhibition hall, there are numerous circles for children, classes for young people, and a creative workshop. Various festivals, exhibitions, city holidays and other events are held within the walls and on the territory of the complex, which attract many spectators.

Elektrostal attractions

Listing the sights of Elektrostal, it is impossible not to mention the temples. There are several of them in the city: the church of St. John of Kronstadt, St. Andrew's Church, the hospital church of St. Panteleimon. Another new church is being built. In appearance, the temples look ancient, monumental, in the Novgorod style. But they were all built at the end of the 20th century.

Let there be no ancient artifacts among the sights of Elektrostal. But on the other hand, all of them are connected with the history of the city, with everyday work and military exploits of ordinary residents.

Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).
