J. Cole apologizes to Kendrick Lamar for 'lame' diss '7 Minute Drill': 'I was conflicted'
'We Don't Trust You' and 'We Still Don't Trust You' vs. Drake: Diss tracks explained
Future and Metro Boomin's "We Don't Trust You," released March 22, and "We Still Don't Trust You," released April 12, unleashed grievances other rappers had with Toronto rapper Drake.
Lamar, Cole and Drake are widely recognized as their rap class' "Big Three," the most recognizable stars in the genre over the past decade. Cole referred to himself, Drake (Aubrey Graham) and Lamar (K. Dot) as the "big three" in modern rap in Drake's 2023 song "First Person Shooter."
Lamar shut down the "big three" line on the "We Don't Trust You" track "Like That." In the song, he called out "First Person Shooter" by name and said "it's just big me" when it comes to rap titans.
Following the diss, J. Cole dropped a surprise album, "Might Delete Later," which included "7 Minute Drill," where Cole alluded to hearing about Lamar's diss, rapping, "I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissing / You want some attention, it come with extensions."
"He still doing shows but fell off like 'The Simpsons,'" the North Carolina rapper continued, adding that Lamar's first album was "classic" and his latest was "tragic."
But two days later, at his Dreamville Festival, J. Cole told his home state crowd during a headlining set that his diss track was a "lame" and "goofy" decision, in videos captured by attendees .
J. Cole later appeared as a guest on the "We Still Don't Trust You" track "Red Leather," a seven-minute song that features an apparent swipe at Drake.
"Kept my nose out the streets, but I love to get a whiff / Of the action, with risk comes attraction / The blicks get to blastin’, I turn into a track star,” Cole raps on the track, who also said that his "story's more clever, my similes was better."
Rapper A$AP Rocky, who is the longtime boyfriend of Drake's ex Rihanna, also took shots at Drake on the "We Still Don't Trust You" track "Show of Hands," saying the Canadian rapper's latest music "came and went" and he didn't "trust" him.
The Weeknd joined the band wagon on "We Still Don't Trust You," remarking on the track "All to Myself" that he's glad never "signed (his) life away" to Drake's OVO label. He also took aim at Drake's "shooters," joking that they're too busy "making TikToks."
Future didn't let his features have all the fun. On the track "This Sunday," Future seemingly interpolates the chorus of Drake’s 2016 song "Feel No Ways" by telling his former "Life Is Good" collaborator that he doesn't care if Drake "feel a way" about all the disses.
Drake has yet to issue a formal response to the diss tracks, although a rumored single allegedly called "Push Ups" was leaked on social media Saturday that seemingly addresses Lamar and Metro Boomin.

Aerosmith will be playing TD Garden on New Years Eve. Here's what to know.
Aerosmith is set to let the music to do the talking after posting their rescheduled "Peace Out" farewell tour dates on social media, which include a New Year's Eve show in Boston.
This launch comes after health issues for frontman Steven Tyler caused the band to delay the start of the tour over seven months ago.
"We’re thrilled to announce new dates for our 2024 PEACE OUT Tour," the rock mainstays wrote on their social media. "All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled shows."
Aerosmith is expected to play 40 shows, including TD Garden in Boston on New Year’s Eve.
The tour kicks off in Pittsburgh, Penn., in September and finishes in Buffalo, N.Y., in February.
The full story on the postponement: Injury to Aerosmith's Steven Tyler forces postponement of remaining 2023 tour dates
How to get tickets to Aerosmith at TD Garden
Tickets for the rescheduled dates and newly added concerts are on sale now on Ticketmaster. Find them here.
What to know about Aerosmith's MA connections
Originating in Boston, Aerosmith formed in 1970 and played their first concert at what is now called Miscoe Hill Middle School in Mendon.
They have collected several Grammys and other music awards, performed at the Super Bowl and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
Tyler and his bandmates have all called the South Shore home. Guitarist Joe Perry sold his Duxbury mansion in 2022. At one point, Tyler, Kramer and Whitford all lived in Marshfield. Bassist Tom Hamilton was the outlier, living in Boston and Cape Cod. Tyler and Perry even owned a music club, Mount Blue, in Norwell in 1997.
Tyler is still a part-time Marshfield resident.

Aerosmith reschedules Peace Out farewell tour: Dates for 3 Florida shows, how to get tickets
Florida Aerosmith fans will wait just a bit longer to finally say peace out to the iconic rock band.
The rockers, who postponed their Peace Out farewell tour after only a few shows in September, will return for a 40-date run starting Sept. 20 of this year.
Three Florida shows are included in this new schedule, all seeing dates in the early half of 2025. As with the original dates, The Black Crowes will open for Aerosmith.
When are the new Florida dates for Aerosmith's 'Peace Out' farewell tour? They also added an extra city
The new dates for the Florida shows are:
- Friday, Feb. 14 - Tampa, Amelie Arena
- Monday, Feb. 17 - Sunrise, Amerant Bank Arena
In addition to rescheduling the tour, the band added three cities: Pittsburgh, Orlando and Philadelphia, where their tour kicked off last September.
The Orlando date is Tuesday, Feb. 11 at the Kia Arena, recently renamed from the Amway Center.
Why did Aerosmith have to postpone 2023 tour dates? What happened to Steven Tyler?
On Sept. 12, Tyler initially announced that he had a severe vocal injury that occurred during Aerosmith's Saturday show in Long Island, New York.
“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days,” Tyler, 75, said in a statement released by the band on Monday. “I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.
However, the band shared in a statement two weeks later that said “Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care.”
They shared the rock icon was receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but "given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”
I bought tickets to Aerosmith's 2023 shows. Will my tickets be honored?
All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates, while tickets for the new shows will go on sale at 10 a.m. local time April 12 via ticketmaster.com .
For those who previously purchased tickets and cannot attend the rescheduled concerts, refunds will be available at point of purchase. A series of VIP packages are also available at aerosmith.com/VIP.
What songs can fans expect to hear at Aerosmith’s farewell shows?
USA TODAY attended the opening show in Philadelphia last year. While there could be changes to the set list, here's what it looked like prior to the postponement:
- "Back in the Saddle"
- "Love in an Elevator"
- "Janie's Got a Gun"
- "Adam's Apple"
- "Livin' on the Edge"
- "No More No More"
- "Hangman Jury"
- "Seasons of Wither"
- "Movin' Out"
- "Stop Messin' Around"
- "Rats in the Cellar"
- "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"
- "Sweet Emotion"
- "Toys in the Attic"
- "Walk This Way"
Are all original Aerosmith members on tour?
Original drummer Joey Kramer will be sitting out the band's final tour. John Douglas, Aerosmith's former drum tech, is filling Kramer's seat.
“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed,” the band said in a statement.
However, fans can look forward to Tyler's yowl and his fellow Toxic Twin, Joe Perry, on the guitar. Brad Whitford and Tom Hamilton remain on guitar and bass.

Ringo Starr new music
Even at his advanced age, Ringo is still doing the dang thing and putting in work.
In October 2022, the former Fab Four drummer dropped the four-song “EP3” with his All-Starr Band.
Composed of feel-good anthems and sing-a-longs, somehow the lad from Liverpool is still bringing the goods.
Ultimate Classic Rock called the short offering “genuine and infectious.”
You can listen to the four tracks here .
In 2023, he released three singles including a new version of “Let It Be” with Dolly Parton and Paul McCartney.
Next up, he’s putting out his “Crooked Boy” EP. The rock-y lead single “February Sky” shows Starr’s memorable voice sounds just as potent as it did back in his Beatles days.

All Starr Band members
Starr’s All Starrs are a veritable who’s who of classic rock legends.
Here’s who you can expect to see onstage with Ringo and the guys when you see them live this spring and summer.
Colin Hay might look and sound familiar. In addition to playing with Ringo, he also fronted the popular group Men At Work.
Edgar Winter is, yes, the Edgar Winter from the famous Edgar Winter Group. He’s most well known for singing and playing keyboards in his group.
Steve Lukather did a little bit of everything when he played with Toto. Most notably, he served as the “Hold The Line” group’s singer and guitarist.
Gregg Bissonette drums. He also gets around. You may have seen him and his kit onstage with Spinal Tap, The David Lee Roth Band or Electric Light Orchestra.
Hamish Stuart was the bassist for the Average White Band. He also played alongside the Paul McCartney Band.
Warren Ham has played multiple instruments for multiple iconic classic rock outfits including Kansas, Toto. He’s also jammed on tour with Donna Summer and Olivia Newton-John.
