Today in the Lake District, you have a choice between two activities. First you may choose to explore Rydal Mount, which lies between Ambleside and Grasmere, and commands glorious views of Lake Windermere and Rydal Water. This was William Wordsworth’s best loved family home for the greater part of his life from 1813 to his death in 1850 at the age of 80. The house, which was a focus for romantic literature, continues to be owned by the Wordsworth family and retains the feel of a lived-in family home. Spend time touring the house and gardens at your leisure. Your other option is to explore the area’s famed trails, wildlife, villages and culture on a leisurely paced hike, in the company of a professional guide. Two centuries after Wordsworth penned his famous lyric poem, “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud,” travelers still flock to this rugged corner of England to enjoy the splendor of nature that inspired so many of England’s literary giants.

" Take a trip to Strawberry Field, the site where John Lennon came to play as a child, and one he immortalized in the 1967 classic, ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’. The site has been owned by the Salvation Army for decades, and operated as a children's home until 2005. It is a unique addition to Beatles tourism and since 2019 has run an interactive center where guests can experience the world John Lennon’s childhood. You will also learn about the centers Steps to Work program which gives young people with learning difficulties the opportunity for work experience. OR, with a local expert, uncover Liverpool’s rich maritime history. Once considered Britain’s “gateway to the world”, Liverpool was one of the most important cities in the British Empire. Learn about the role it played in the American Civil War and World War II, the luxurious ocean liners that called it home, and the renaissance its historic waterfront is experiencing today. This tour will visit the Merseyside Maritime Museum. "

Hop on London’s iconic ‘Tube’ and head east towards Tower Bridge Station. During your self-guided tour, explore the world-famous Tower of London, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This iconic symbol of the city has served as a fortress, a treasury, a prison and a zoo. See the Traitors’ Gate, where prisoners like Anne Boleyn and Saint Thomas More once entered the tower. Behold the magnificent and priceless Crown Jewels before enjoying a savory lunch at a traditional London pub.

Personalize your evening with Diner's Choice in Bath.
