How to Get to Icecrown Citadel (ICC) in WoW

Last Updated: October 18, 2023 by Archdruid Andoris Leave a Comment

A guide for new and returning players looking to take down the Lich King!

travel to icc

In this guide, I want to walk you through how to get to Icecrown Citadel (also called ICC by many players). My main focus is on WotLK-era players, but I’ll also throw in some tips for retail players. I’ll dive into the details below, but here is a quick answer if you just need to jog your memory.

To get to Icecrown Citadel, you’ll need to make your way to Northrend first. You can reach Northrend via boat/zeppelin, hearthstone, or mage portal. After arriving in Northrend, your best bet is to use a flying mount ( requires level 77+ in WotLK Classic ) to reach the citadel.

Where is the Icecrown Citadel in WoW?

Icecrown Citadel (ICC) is located along the southern end of the Icecrown zone on Northrend. It is one of the few buildings that appears on the continent map due to its massive size and importance in lore.

How to get to Icecrown Citadel in Wrath of the Lich King Classic

The hardest part of getting to ICC in Wrath is knowing how to get to Northrend. As I mentioned in the answer above, there are a few ways to travel to the shores of this icy continent.

Either faction can also reach Northrend by using a mage portal, warlock summon, or hearthstone (if possible). Each faction also has its own travel options as well.

For alliance players, you can travel to Northrend via boats found in the harbors of Stormwind or Menethil Harbor. The Stormwind boat will take you to Borean Tundra, while Menethil will take you to Howling Fjord. Taking the Stormwind boat will get you to ICC faster because the Tundra is closer to Icecrown.

Horde players also have two options to get to Northrend. The first is a zeppelin from Undercity to Howling Fjord. The second is a zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Borean Tundra. Between these two, your best bet is to take the Orgrimmar zeppelin because you will land closer to the Icecrown zone.

Traveling to Icecrown Citadel

To get to Icecrown Citadel, you’ll need to take a flight path or use your own flying mount. The flight paths are identical for Horde and Alliance, but some require completing quest lines. Unfortunately, the two unlocked paths, Argent Vanguard and Death’s Rise , aren’t close to the citadel, so this won’t be your best option.

Your best bet is to reach level 77 (if you haven’t yet) and buy cold weather flying for 1,000 gold . Icecrown is an unforgiving zone for foot-bound adventures, so having flying will go a long way.

Once you have cold weather flying, all you need to do is set your hearthstone to Dalaran, and then you can fly west out of the city and arrive at ICC in about a minute.

How to get to ICC in Dragonflight

If you are playing the retail version of the game, there are a few portals you can use to make your life easier. Instead of taking a boat or zeppelin to Northrend, you can take the Dalaran, Crystalsong Forest teleport from the portal room in Orgrimmar or Stormwind.

After arriving in Dalaran, fly west out of the city, and you should see ICC looming high overhead. Just be careful when passing near the Violet Citadel in Dalaran because it sometimes tends to dismount you in the air.

Where is the entrance to the Icecrown Citadel raid?

You can find the raid entrance for Icecrown Citadel up a long set of stairs on the north side of the tower near ground level. If you are using the TomTom addon , head to the Icecrown zone and then type /way 53.8, 87.1 in chat and press enter to create an arrow to guide you.

Dungeon Entrances: The Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron, and Halls of Reflection

In addition to housing the most popular raid in World of Warcraft, Icecrown Citadel is also home to three dungeons — Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron, and Halls of Reflection. The entrance to all these dungeons is in the Frozen Halls, a small corridor a couple of stories up on the citadel’s side.

Screenshot showing the entrance to Icecrown Citadel and the Frozen Halls.

After entering The Frozen Halls and taking a short walk down a hallway, you’ll come to a large room with the three dungeon entrances and the meeting stone for Icecrown Citadel. If you are standing in the hallway, Forge of Souls will be on your left, Pit of Saron on the right, and Halls of Reflection will be directly in front of you.

Cricket in the US is a month away: 2024 T20 World Cup tickets, schedule, venues, where to watch

travel to icc

The countdown to the much-awaited 2024 T20 Cricket World Cup begins, with just a month left for the opening match of the tournament between first time participants Canada and U.S. in Dallas on June 1. The series will also mark U.S.'s debut as a co-host in an International Cricket Council tournament.

Preparations for the tournament are in full swing in the U.S., and the 34,000-seat modular stadium in Long Island, New York that will host some of the most anticipated matches is nearing completion. Ten pitches, prepared in Florida, arrived at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium this week, the ICC said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the squads and players have also started gearing up for the tournament. Several countries including India , Australia, South Africa and defending champions England have announced their squads for the upcoming matches.

How to get ICC T20 World Cup match tickets

General tickets for the 2024 T20 World Cup are available to purchase on first-come-first-serve basis on the tournament website . While tickets for popular matches sold out almost immediately when the sales went live on Feb. 22, tickets for multiple matches in the U.S., such as United States vs. Ireland and Canada vs. Pakistan, are still available, as of April 30.

Tickets for some of the matches are also available for purchase on third-party websites such as Stubhub , Tickets Center and SeatGeek for varying prices.

Hospitality program and travel packages

The ICC is also offering a limited number of hospitality and premium packages for the T20 World Cup. To get them, visit tickets.t20worldcup.com or email [email protected].

Cricket enthusiasts who will be travelling to the venues from different countries also have the option to secure ticket-inclusive travel packages through ICC Travel & Tours and officially appointed travel agents listed on their website.

What ticket categories are available?

Tickets are available in the following categories, depending on the stadiums and venues:

  • Standard Plus
  • Grounds and Mounds / Standing Room Only (SRO)

ICC said all stadiums in the event are "divided into different enclosures which have different views of the field of play and may have differing degrees of shade."

ICC Cricket World Cup 2024: How to watch matches in the US on TV, streaming

Fans and audiences will be able to watch the world cup matches exclusively on WillowTV , according to a spokesperson of the T20 World Cup.

What to know about the 2024 T20 World Cup

Fifty-five matches will be played across nine cities – three in the U.S. and six in the Caribbean, according to the ICC, with the opening match between Canada and the U.S. to be held on June 1 at Grand Prairie Stadium in the Dallas metro area, and the grand finale on June 29 in Barbados. The semi-finals will take place in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.

New York City will host the much-anticipated clash between Pakistan and India on June 9, according to the schedule released by the ICC.

England enters the year as defending champions, having beaten Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup final in Melbourne. The series will mark U.S., Canada and Uganda's first appearances at a Men's T20 World Cup.

As anticipation for the tournament builds, the ICC announced eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt and India's legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh as ambassadors for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Tournament director Fawwaz Baksh had told USA TODAY in February that he is confident that his team "will put up a very good show."

"A big part of this tournament is not only what's going to happen on the field with the players, but also everything outside of the stadium," Baksh had said. "We will make it a real carnival-like."

Will the Indian cricket team travel to Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

Will the Indian cricket team travel to Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

The Indian cricket team's participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan remains uncertain, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awaits government approval.

As per NDTV , BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla clarified that the Indian team will only travel to Pakistan for the tournament if permission is granted by the central government.

He stated, "In the case of the Champion Trophy, we will do whatever the Government of India will tell us to do. We send our team only when the Government of India gives us permission. So we will go according to the decision of the Indian government."

However, the ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held from February to March 2025 in Pakistan.

Since 2008's Asia Cup, India has refrained from playing cricket tournaments in Pakistan due to security concerns and tense relations between the two countries.

While, the last bilateral series between India and Pakistan took place in December 2012-January 2013 in India.

Subsequently, both teams have only faced each other in ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to organize all India matches, including the final, in Lahore for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Moreover, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi previously announced that a draft schedule of the tournament has been sent to the ICC. Discussions among the eight participating members will determine whether the Indian team will travel to Pakistan or not.

Will India Travel To Pakistan For The ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

Rohit Sarkar

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are getting ready for a monumental fight in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, and the cricket world is bracing itself for another historic confrontation. Because India and Pakistan have a long-standing rivalry, this much-anticipated match between two of the biggest names in cricket is not only a spectacle for sports fans but also a matter of considerable interest in political circles.

The first plot twist in this cricket drama is India’s unwillingness to go to Pakistan in order to compete for the ICC Champions Trophy. The historical rivalries and ongoing geopolitical concerns have clouded this cricket spectacle. It seems that the Indian cricket squad is reluctant to go to Pakistan.

The BCCI and PCB have previously disagreed over cricket-related matters. Something similar happened in the Asia Cup 2023 a few months ago. India refused to play on Pakistani soil, despite Pakistan being the tournament’s official host nation. An impromptu format modification for the Asia Cup was necessary, with some matches being hosted in Pakistan and the others in Sri Lanka.

As luck would have it, Pakistan was discouraged when India played all of their matches in Sri Lanka and won. The PCB made a daring move since the ICC World Cup 2023 was approaching. If India did not reciprocate by going for the Asia Cup in Pakistan, they said they would boycott the competition. Pakistan was slated to serve as the host nation for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. However, choosing an impartial location would be very difficult for the ICC given the BCCI’s misgivings and the Indian government’s unwillingness to send the national squad to Pakistan.

Will India Travel To Pakistan For The ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are the front-runners to host the esteemed competition in this scenario. To guarantee the success and fairness of the tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) must make a critical decision. In the history of cricket, the ICC Champions Trophy is very significant. India won the trophy for the last time in 2013. Pakistan won in 2017 after beating India by a commanding 180-run score.

For the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, the ICC has set precise qualifying requirements. According to an ICC spokesman, “Qualification for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 is based on the host nation, Pakistan, and the top seven teams in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 standings at the conclusion of the event.”

Under these conditions, teams who do not advance to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 semifinals will still aim to finish in the top 8. Their place in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is assured thanks to this.

International court issues war crimes warrant for Putin

The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes because of his alleged involvement in abductions of children from Ukraine. (March 17)

THE HAGUE (AP) — The International Criminal Court said Friday that it has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes, accusing him of personal responsibility for the abductions of children from Ukraine .

It was the first time the global court has issued a warrant against a leader of one of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council.

The ICC said in a statement that Putin “is allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of (children) and that of unlawful transfer of (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.”

The move was immediately dismissed by Moscow — and welcomed by Ukraine as a major breakthrough.

Its practical implications, however, could be limited as the chances of Putin facing trial at the ICC are highly unlikely because Moscow does not recognize the court’s jurisdiction or extradite its nationals.

But the moral condemnation will likely stain the Russian leader for the rest of his life — and in the more immediate future whenever he seeks to attend an international summit in a nation bound to arrest him.

“So Putin might go to China, Syria, Iran, his ... few allies, but he just won’t travel to the rest of the world and won’t travel to ICC member states who he believes would ... arrest him,” said Adil Ahmad Haque, an expert in international law and armed conflict at Rutgers University.

Others agreed. “Vladimir Putin will forever be marked as a pariah globally. He has lost all his political credibility around the world. Any world leader who stands by him will be shamed as well,” David Crane, a former international prosecutor, told The Associated Press.

The court also issued a warrant for the arrest of Maria Lvova-Belova, the commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Office of the President of the Russian Federation. The AP reported on her involvement in the abduction of Ukrainian orphans in October, in the first investigation to follow the process all the way to Russia, relying on dozens of interviews and documents.

ICC President Piotr Hofmanski said in a video statement that while the ICC’s judges have issued the warrants, it will be up to the international community to enforce them. The court has no police force of its own to do so.

The ICC can impose a maximum sentence of life imprisonment “when justified by the extreme gravity of the crime,” according to its founding treaty, the Rome Statute, that established it as a permanent court of last resort to prosecute political leaders and other key perpetrators of the world’s worst atrocities — war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

Still, the chances of Putin or Lvova-Belova facing trial remain extremely remote, as Moscow does not recognize the court’s jurisdiction — a position it vehemently reaffirmed Friday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia doesn’t recognize the ICC and considers its decisions “legally void.” He called the court’s move “outrageous and unacceptable.”

Peskov refused to comment when asked if Putin would avoid making trips to countries where he could be arrested on the ICC’s warrant.

Ukraine’s human rights chief, Dmytro Lubinets, has said that based on data from the country’s National Information Bureau, 16,226 children were deported. Ukraine has managed to bring back 308 children.

Lvova-Belova, who was also implicated in the warrants, reacted with dripping sarcasm. “It is great that the international community has appreciated the work to help the children of our country, that we do not leave them in war zones, that we take them out, we create good conditions for them, that we surround them with loving, caring people,” she said.

Ukrainian officials were jubilant at the move.

In his nightly address to the nation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called it a “historic decision, from which historic responsibility will begin.”

Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine’s U.N. ambassador, recalled that on the night of Russia’s invasion, “I said at the Security Council meeting that there is no purgatory for war criminals, they go straight to hell. Today, I would like to say that those of them who will remain alive after the military defeat of Russia will have to make a stop in The Hague on their way to hell.”

In Washington, President Joe Biden called the ICC’s decision “justified,” telling reporters as he left the White House for his Delaware home that Putin “clearly committed war crimes.” While the US does not recognize the court either, Biden said it “makes a very strong point” to call out the Russian leader’s actions in ordering the invasion.

Olga Lopatkina, a Ukrainian mother who struggled for months to reclaim her foster children who were deported to an institution run by Russian loyalists, welcomed news of the arrest warrant. “Everyone must be punished for their crimes,” she said in a message exchange with the AP.

While Ukraine is also not a member of the global court, it has granted it jurisdiction over its territory and ICC prosecutor Karim Khan has visited four times since opening an investigation a year ago.

Besides Russia and Ukraine, the United States and China are not members of the 123-member ICC.

The ICC said its pre-trial chamber found “reasonable grounds” that Putin “bears individual criminal responsibility” for the child abductions “for having committed the acts directly, jointly with others and/or through others” and for failing to “exercise control properly over civilian and military subordinates who committed the acts.”

During a visit this month, ICC prosecutor Khan said he went to a care home for children 2 kilometers (just over a mile) from front lines in southern Ukraine.

“The drawings pinned on the wall ... spoke to a context of love and support that was once there,” he said in a statement. “But this home was empty, a result of alleged deportation of children from Ukraine to the Russian Federation or their unlawful transfer to other parts of the temporarily occupied territories.”

“As I noted to the United Nations Security Council last September, these alleged acts are being investigated by my office as a priority. Children cannot be treated as the spoils of war,” Khan said.

And while Russia rejected the allegations and warrants, others said the ICC action will have an important impact.

“The ICC has made Putin a wanted man and taken its first step to end the impunity that has emboldened perpetrators in Russia’s war against Ukraine for far too long,” said Balkees Jarrah, associate international justice director at Human Rights Watch. “The warrants send a clear message that giving orders to commit, or tolerating, serious crimes against civilians may lead to a prison cell in The Hague.”

Crane, who indicted Liberian President Charles Taylor 20 years ago for crimes in Sierra Leone, said dictators and tyrants around the world “are now on notice that those who commit international crimes will be held accountable.”

Taylor was eventually detained and put on trial at a special court in the Netherlands. He was convicted and sentenced to 50 years’ imprisonment.

On Thursday, a U.N.-backed inquiry cited Russian attacks against civilians in Ukraine, including systematic torture and killing in occupied regions, among potential issues that amount to war crimes and possibly crimes against humanity.

The sweeping investigation also found crimes committed against Ukrainians on Russian territory, including deported Ukrainian children who were prevented from reuniting with their families, a “filtration” system aimed at singling out Ukrainians for detention, and torture and inhumane detention conditions.

On Friday, the ICC put the face of Putin on the child abduction allegations.

Israel fears ICC will issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and other top officials

TEL AVIV — Israel is greatly concerned that the International Criminal Court may issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu , Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and senior military officials as early as this week, an Israeli official told NBC News.

Israel is working through diplomatic channels to try to stop the warrants being issued, the official said Monday.

When asked about media reports of the arrest warrants, the ICC told NBC News that it “has an ongoing independent investigation in relation to the Situation in the State of Palestine" and that "we have no further comment to make at this stage."

The court launched an investigation three years ago into possible war crimes committed by both Israel and Palestinian militants going back to the Israel-Hamas war in 2014. It has given no public indication that arrest warrants are imminent, and it was not clear whether Israel was also expecting arrest warrants for any Hamas leaders.

The news comes as pressure mounts on Israel to halt its military offensive in Gaza, which officials in the Palestinian enclave say has killed more than 34,000 people since it was launched in the wake of the Hamas-led Oct. 7 terror attacks.

Netanyahu spoke with President Joe Biden on Sunday night, and Israel is awaiting a response from Hamas on a new cease-fire proposal .

Karim Khan, who serves as chief prosecutor of the ICC, visited the region in December and said that his investigation was “moving forward at pace, with rigor, with determination and with an insistence that we act not on emotion but on solid evidence.”

Israel Netanyahu Protest

Any warrants would not mean that Netanyahu will end up in jail.

Neither Israel nor the United States recognize the court's jurisdiction, though any warrants would put Israeli officials at risk of arrest in other countries, including much of Europe.

“As we have publicly said many times, the ICC has no jurisdiction in this situation and we do not support its investigation,” a spokesperson for the National Security Council said.

They would also serve as a high-profile statement on Israel's actions in Gaza, and an embarrassing development that would put Netanyahu alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin as a major leader to face such action from the ICC.

Netanyahu said Friday that Israel “will never accept any attempt by the ICC to undermine its inherent right of self-defense.”

“The threat to seize the soldiers and officials of the Middle East’s only democracy and the world’s only Jewish state is outrageous. We will not bow to it,” he said in a post on X.

In a sign of the country's concern, its Foreign Ministry said late Sunday that it had informed Israeli missions of “rumors” that warrants might be issued against senior Israeli officials.

Such a move, Foreign Minister Israel Katz said, would “provide a morale boost” to Hamas and other militant groups.

The ICC — based in The Hague, the Netherlands — can charge individuals with war crimes and other related charges. It is separate from the International Court of Justice, which considers cases between states and is currently investigating whether Israel has committed acts of genocide in Gaza.

Israel and the U.S. have dismissed the accusation.

The International Criminal Court, Dec. 6, 2022, in The Hague, Netherlands.

Tensions continue to mount both in Washington and Israel over potential arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and top Israeli officials related to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

While the court itself has not issued any warrants or commented publicly on reports they are coming, the Israeli government has gone on the defensive, calling them "a historical outrage” that would be an "enduring stain" on humanity. Similarly, the news received a cool response in Washington, with the White House opposing such a move and several lawmakers threatening retaliation if the warrants were filed.

Here’s what to know about the court, its warrants and its tense relationship with the U.S.

What Is the International Criminal Court?

The ICC is a permanent court created through the Rome Statute of 1998. It was created as the court of last resort to prosecute people, including heads of state and senior government officials, for the world’s most heinous crimes. These include war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and crimes of aggression. The court is legally independent from the United Nations.

The court is one in a series of legal bodies designed to prosecute war crimes, with the first modern bodies being the tribunals in Nuremberg, Germany and Tokyo. It was born of a necessity for a permanent court to handle prosecutions for such crimes. Prior to its establishment, ad hoc temporary tribunals were assembled during the early 1990s to address regional issues.

How Does It Differ From Other Courts Dealing With International Law?

As one of several legal bodies established in the years since Nuremberg, the ICC differs in three major ways. The first is that it’s permanent and was not created to prosecute one specific regional incident. The court can open investigations and issue warrants for any issue that falls under its jurisdiction. The second difference is that the court can only intervene when national courts are either unable or unwilling to prosecute people. And lastly, the court is treaty-based, with countries that ratify the statute being recognized as member parties. Because the court lacks a police force, it relies on member parties to enforce arrest warrants it issues.

Marina Aksenova, a professor of comparative and international criminal law at IE University and a recognized expert on the court, adds that the ICC is “connected to the United Nations as the U.N. Security Council has the power to refer specific situations to the ICC even with respect to nationals of states that are not parties to the Rome Statute.”

What Has the Court’s Relationship With the U.S. Been Like?

While the U.S. played a key role in establishing the Rome Statute, it ultimately did not ratify it . After former President Bill Clinton signed the statute in 2000, former President George W. Bush rescinded it, sending a note to the U.N. secretary-general informing him of the U.S. decision. The quick reversal stemmed from the growing fear that U.S. troops would be implicated in the court’s investigation of war crimes in Afghanistan.

In recent years, America’s stance on the court has been a mix of acceptance and rejection. The administration of former President Donald Trump refused to cooperate with it and threatened retaliatory steps against its staff and member countries if it investigated the U.S. or its allies. Under President Joe Biden’s administration, the approach has largely been positive, as officials lifted economic and travel sanctions placed by Trump on the court’s prosecutor and another senior prosecution office staffer.

But as reports began to emerge of a potential effort by the administration to pressure the court into delaying warrants against top Israeli officials, cries of hypocrisy began to spring up. The allegation stems from Biden calling the court’s decision to issue an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for alleged war crimes in connection with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “justified.”

What Do We Know About the ICC’s Investigation Into Israel?

In 2021, the court opened its investigation into Israeli conduct in Gaza, the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem from 2014 onward. The State of Palestine referred the situation to the court in 2018. In 2019, the court’s former court prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, announced that her office had determined there was a reasonable basis for an investigation.

Abbas Poorhashemi, president of the Canadian Institute for International Law Expertise, says that after Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel on Oct, 7, “some Member States, including South Africa, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Comoros, and Djibouti, requested a new referral regarding the situation in the State of Palestine.” He adds that the prosecutor then opened the investigation that is currently ongoing.

While Israel is not a member of the court and doesn’t recognize its jurisdiction, the Palestinian Authority joined the ICC as a member in 2015, enabling it to refer the case to the court.

In a comment to U.S. News, the ICC Office of the Prosecutor confirmed that it “has an ongoing independent investigation in relation to the Situation in the State of Palestine.”

“The Prosecutor has addressed the situation in various public remarks and also in official statements at the ICC Assembly of States Parties,” the office says. “He has also underlined that the Office does not give a running commentary in relation to ongoing investigations, nor does the Office respond to speculation in media reports.”

It is believed warrants will be filed for Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, along with leaders of the U.S.-designated terrorist group Hamas.

Jonathan Hafetz, a legal professor at Seton Hall Law School, says he suspects the warrants for Israeli officials “would focus on war crimes and possibly crimes against humanity, rather than genocide, which is far more controversial and harder to prove.”

Hafetz adds that the charges could have a significant impact on public opinion by giving “additional credence to the notion that Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza and branding Israeli officials as alleged war criminals.”

Aksenova says the impact “may even be stronger in the case of European states,” as all European Union member states are signatories to the Rome Statute. As a result, all “would therefore be legally obligated to execute the arrest warrant should Prime Minister Netanyahu choose to travel to these countries.”

How Has the U.S. Been Responding?

Following growing reports of the warrants, Axios reported that Netanyahu made a direct plea to Biden to help prevent the court from issuing the warrants. Since then, the pressure on court officials has increased, ranging from lawmakers in Congress to administration officials.

Republican lawmakers, for example, threatened to pass a bill from GOP Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas to sanction the court , while House Speaker Mike Johnson called on the Biden administration to "immediately and unequivocally demand that the ICC stand down" and "use every available tool to prevent such an abomination."

During a press conference last week, Johnson also said Secretary of State Antony Blinken told him the Biden administration would be publicly calling for the court to stand down. A bipartisan group of senators then spoke virtually with court officials Wednesday afternoon to express their concerns over the warrants.

Democratic lawmakers have lashed out as well, with Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, a staunch Israel supporter in recent months, calling on Biden to “intervene as part of the administration’s ongoing commitment to Israel.”

Meanwhile, the ICC prosecutor’s office issued a statement Friday calling for the end to "all attempts to impede, intimidate or improperly influence its officials,” saying they undermined the tribunal’s "independence and impartiality.”

Poorhashemi says the pressure exerted by the U.S. on the court is “not entirely unique” as it has “denounced ICC jurisdiction over U.S. citizens and has taken some steps to protect its nationals from ICC investigation and prosecution” since its formation.

Still, Hafetz says the objection is “significant in that it places the U.S. in the familiar position of resisting action by the ICC that it disagrees with or that it views as contrary to its interests.”

ICC in major Aramco extension through 2027

T he International Cricket Council (ICC) governing body has today unveiled a multi-year extension to one of its major commercial deals, with Saudi Arabian oil giant Aramco.

Following an initial tie-up between the pair which began in October 2022 and ran through until early 2024, the brand has now signed up as a global sponsor through 2027 and will continue to have premier partner rights at the various men’s, women’s, and under-19 ICC events scheduled to take place over the next three and a half years.

This includes, in the immediate future, the 2024 Men’s Twenty20 World Cup, set to take place in June across the US and Caribbean, as well as the women’s iteration of that tournament, which will be held in Bangladesh in September and October.

Aramco has become a major commercial partner across cricket in recent years, with a deal covering the prestigious Indian Premier League domestic tournament having run across 2022 and 2023.

Outside of cricket, late last month Aramco was brought in as a major sponsor of top-tier events organised by soccer’s global governing body FIFA.

Under a four-year agreement, the company has become FIFA’s major worldwide partner exclusive in the energy category, with sponsorship rights for multiple events including the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Women’s World Cup.

Aramco will continue to hold naming rights to various player awards at ICC events through the new deal - the Aramco Player of the Match, Aramco Player of the Tournament, and the Aramco Power Performance.

The firm will also receive assets through the ICC’s hospitality platform.

GlobalData (Sportcal) assessed the total value of the original ICC-Aramco agreement as $2.25 million.

Other major ICC commercial partners include Emirates, DP World, and Coca-Cola.

The Dubai-based body earlier this week completed its line-up of major broadcast partners for the next media rights cycle across key cricketing territories, through a deal with Sky New Zealand .

"ICC in major Aramco extension through 2027" was originally created and published by Sportcal , a GlobalData owned brand.

Americans will need Real ID to travel in 2025: Here are the requirements

The U.S. is a year away from requiring Real ID.

The United States is less than a year out from the Department of Homeland Security's federal requirement for Real ID for domestic flights and entering federal facilities, and to help you get ahead -- and avoid a dreaded hourslong wait at the DMV -- "Good Morning America" has gathered all the essential details you need to ensure your identification is up to date.

What is a Real ID?

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security previously delayed the implementation of Real ID several times over the past few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But as of this week, U.S. residents have under a year to obtain their soon-to-be federally required form of identification.

Here's what you need to know:

The federal Real ID Act was passed by Congress in 2005 following the 9/11 Commission's recommendation that the Federal Government "set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver's licenses," the DHS states on its website .

PHOTO:Miami, Florida, Miami International Airport, Homeland Security REAL ID message

The new rules set out which forms of identification may be used to board flights within the United States and to enter secure federal facilities such as military bases, federal courthouses and other federal facilities.

Applying for a Real ID requires proof of identity, proof of residency and a trip to your local DMV. See below for more on the full requirements and application process details.

All U.S. states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories are issuing Real IDs.

Click here for additional answers from DHS to some frequently asked questions about Real ID.

Real ID application requirements

PHOTO: An example of a REAL ID from North Carolina issued by the DMV.

Requirements are largely similar across the states, but as of 2021, according to DHS , states are no longer required to collect a social security document from a Real ID applicant. They still must collect and retain the number as part of the application process to verify that information with the Social Security Administration as currently required by the Real ID regulations.

"Not all states have applied this, so please check with your state driver's licensing agency to find the most up to date information," the DHS website states.

In California for example, residents can apply for a Real ID by filling out an application online and upload documents before visiting a DMV office with their uploaded documents to complete the application, which should only take about 15 minutes in person, depending on wait times.

Here's everything California residents would need to provide for the application:

Proof of identity: One original or certified document. For example, a valid passport or birth certificate. Legal name change document is required if name on proof of identity is different from the name on the other documents such as a marriage certificate or adoption papers.

Proofs of California residency: Two documents, paper copies. For example, a utility bill or bank statement.

Social Security number: Some exceptions may apply. Click here for additional details from the DMV REAL ID page.

New requirements for Americans traveling to Europe postponed until 2025

What is the latest deadline for real id.

PHOTO: An example of a REAL ID from New York issued by the DMV.

Earlier this week marked one year before DHS begins enforcing the Real ID requirement on May 7, 2025.

Starting on that date, a Real ID or other federally approved identification will be required to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.

Federal agencies including Transportation Security Administration may only accept state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards as identification for the purposes of accessing federal facilities -- including TSA airport security checkpoints -- if the license or card was issued by a Real ID compliant state in accordance with the Real ID security standards.

Enhanced Driver's Licenses issued by Washington, Michigan, Minnesota, New York and Vermont are considered acceptable alternatives to REAL ID-compliant cards, according to DHS , and will also be accepted for official REAL ID purposes.

What does Real ID look like?

PHOTO: An example of a REAL ID from California issued by the DMV.

The Real ID looks almost the same as a current state ID card or driver's license, but has a compliant star marking.

Some differences may vary by state, such as in California, where a small golden bear appears on the top right corner with the white star on the animal's left side.

If an ID says "federal limits apply," that person will not be able to board a domestic flight or enter federal facilities, such as military bases, federal courthouses, and other locations after the May 7, 2025, deadline.

Does Real ID replace a passport?

The Real ID does not replace a passport for international travel, however it ensures that travelers can fly domestic within the U.S. and access secure federal locations without additional documentation, according to the DMV.

What is the ICC, the global court Israel fears may indict Netanyahu?

travel to icc

Prosecutors from the International Criminal Court have not issued any arrest warrants in response to the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel and the war in Gaza . But over the past few days, amid a preemptive backlash from government officials, Israeli media has reported that arrest warrants from the global court were imminent against senior Israeli figures including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Netanyahu said Friday that attempts by The Hague-based court to undermine Israel’s right to self-defense would never be accepted, arguing that it would “set a dangerous precedent that threatens the soldiers and officials of all democracies.” On Sunday, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz cautioned Israeli embassies around the world to bolster security in immediate preparation for “a wave of severe antisemitism” if arrest warrants were to be issued.

The court, known widely as the ICC, has not confirmed any reports that it will issue arrest warrants against Israeli officials. Experts say that if the court were to issue such warrants, they would almost certainly also target militants in Gaza for crimes committed during the Hamas-led attacks of Oct. 7.

On Monday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that the United States did not support the ICC’s investigation. “We don’t believe that they have the jurisdiction,” Jean-Pierre said.

Here’s what to know about the court and its arrest warrants.
