Welcome to Mode Travel

With our team of knowledgeable agents, we are able to provide travel expertise around the world, including destinations in Mexico, Hawai’i, Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Canada, French Polynesia, Australia, and more!

Providing Tailored Travel Experiences

Mode Travel Agency has been dedicated to booking the best experiences for our clients since 2012. Our agents focus on creating the best overall trips based on the knowledge and expertise of our team and our network of preferred travel partners. Although we want to get the best value for our travelers, we are not a travel agency based on hot deals or one size fits all vacations. We believe each trip needs to be specifically tailored to that client, as everyone has their own idea of the perfect vacation .

Let us get to know you! We would love the opportunity to present the best options for you. Afterall, trips and customer service are definitely not one size fits all and we would love to be a part of your happy memories!

Testimonials

Janessa went above and beyond to assure us that our wedding would be special. Also assured us that our destination wedding would happen! With Covid canceling our trip several times, she worked hard to get our needs met and took the stress off of us. Janessa was a pleasure to work with and we would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a travel agent! We appreciate you so much.

Roslyn & Steven

We recently got back from UNICO 20º87º Hotel Riviera Maya after seeing Katie posts about it on Facebook. To say the trip was amazing would be an understatement. The resort was beautiful, the food was amazing and the staff was better then I could have imagined. From the moment we stepped in the door until we left we were treated like royalty. I will definitely book with Katie again, she and her team made the trip run flawlessly. Everything was so smooth from the moment we landed to the moment we returned!! I can’t thank Katie enough for introducing us to Unico, we have found our new go to!

Katie is awesome! Very easy to work with and so very helpful! She's professional and so patient with tons of questions! I would highly recommend her to anyone who is traveling, especially for destination weddings. Whenever I was a nervous bride Katie was right there answering questions and just being a friend!

Destiny & Jaden

Twenty years of marriage is definitely worth celebrating. Spending six nights in Negril, Jamaica was just a fantastic way to do that. The weather was perfect, the resort top class and Katies idea of have a personal Butler was a completely over the top - but brilliant luxury. Not only did we have an awesome time with fantastic food, drink, activities and entertainment but we spent some great time together connecting as a couple. I will always use Mode travel for vacations as Katie made it so easy, was always very responsive to my questions and knew exactly what I was looking for. What would have taken me days of reearch and indecision - become very easy.

You have been absolutely AMAZING throughout this entire experience. We will use you for literally anything and everything from now on. You have made this process so smooth for us, and it’s been absolutely indescribable how satisfied we are with from reaching out to you in the beginning of booking our honeymoon to giving us updates on Covid situations, switching our entire trip and islands around, and everything in between. George and I commented almost every day to each other how amazing this has been, and how much we just appreciate you making sure everything would be smooth sailing for us.

Tayler & George

As we were planning our destination wedding, Katie was recommended to us by multiple family members and friends. We loved her right away! She was so easy to talk to and made planning a wedding in another country so easy! She is a genuine and kind person who has a passion for travel! We can't say enough great things about her.

Katie was very attentive to our needs. She found us a resort that offered everything we could have ever wanted or needed. When we had questions or concerns, Katie would respond to us in a very timely fashion...literally, within minutes most of the time!

Before we left for our trip, Katie met up with us at a local restaurant and walked us through everything. We had never been to Mexico and were traveling with a two year old, so we were pretty nervous! She informed us of how to get through immigration and customs at the airport, what to watch out for when we arrived, and who we needed to contact after getting through the airport. As we were getting ready to leave our meeting, Katie presented us with a beautiful rustic picture frame with our names on it. She has such an amazing heart and is such a generous person.

The whole trip was amazing. We had some questions and messaged Katie, and she responded right away. We felt like she was right by our sides the whole time.

We are so thankful to have gotten a chance to work with Katie at Mode Travel for our special day/week. It wouldn't have been the same without her!

Thank you, Katie!

Michelle & Mick

Katie is so wonderful to work with. She gives us so many options to chose from and always is so quick and pleasant at customizing any quote to our specifications.

I've never worked with a more pleasant or efficient travel agent. It doesn't matter what time a day or evening, she always gets back to you.

We love love, Katie.

Our highlight was spending a great time together as a family at Disney! We loved the whole week! Traveling from Fargo to Orlando was easy, flights and check in went great. One of our favorites along with Disney was Clearwater Beach- beautiful!! Everything was great! We appreciate all the recommendations and the reassurance we needed doing something new, renting a car, and getting around Orlando on our own! I trust Katie! I fee like she knows what we want, she'll give great recommendations, and don't have to worry!

Angie & Mark

Our highlight was getting married in Mexico with no stress! Katie took care of everything to ensure I had a stress free wedding and vacation. The process was so fast, easy and she was so nice!! She answered our emails even when she was out of the office!

Zack & Alisia

We used Mode Travel when we booked our destination wedding in Mexico! Katie was amazing and helped us every step of the way! She set up flights, hotel, and transportation for us and 30 other guests! She also happened to be vacationing down there when we went & stopped by to check everything out!! We will definitely use Mode Travel again when booking our next vacation, and highly recommended it to anyone looking to go on vacation or plan a destination wedding!!

Samantha & Thomas

Working with Casey was like having a ‘Travel Mom’ -- I didn’t need to worry about too much and she took care of all the research and the details. As a mom who deals with details all the time, it was wonderful to take a break when it came to trip planning.

The highlight of my trip was basically the whole thing. I went there with the intent on relaxing and that is just what I did. Hard Rock Vallarta Resort was beautiful and relaxing. This was my first time using Katie at Mode Travel and my experience was awesome! She was always extremely prompt with her replies to any and all questions I had and extremely nice and easy to deal with. I love that Katie had just been to the Hard Rock Vallarta, so she was able to tell me first hand what she thought of it. I will definitely use Katie from Mode Travel for my future trips! Thank you Katie!

How accurate Katie was on the rooms, staff, things to do, restaurants, etc. EVERYTHING!! I asked a ton of questions and her answers were exactly correct and spot on.

We chartered a small yacht for the day to snorkel and jump off the cliff at Ricks Cafe. It was amazing. Free catamaran at sunset was gorgeous. Katie is accurate, professional, timely and knowledgeable. I will certainly use her and Mode again.

I prefer Mode travel because they did all the work, and it couldn't have been any easier or smoother with booking our honeymoon. I had never traveled before, and knew nothing about booking an international trip. Mode Travel gave me and my wife several resort options, and all the reason why we might want to travel to them. Once we settled on the Hard Rock, Katie showed us pictures from her trip, which really made the final decision easy. Mode Travel does all the heavy lifting, and you just enjoy your time.

Eric & Ashley

We just got back from Hard Rock, Riviera Maya. Chose this based on Katie's recommendation and was a perfect fit. I always struggle to find a reasonable resort that isn't going to have a surprise when I walk in the door. I waste hours reading reviews and evaluating the cost...it ends up a gamble anyway. The hotel rep was even shocked when I told him the deal Katie found for me, said he couldn't beat that price and he was trying to sell me their upgrade service. Thanks again and will definitely be using your service again!

Jeff & Laura

We had never been to Hawaii before; it seemed overwhelming all of the choices to make when everything looked amazing. I trusted that the package Katie put together for us was going to be perfect -- and it was!! I would not change a thing! I felt confident that if we did experience any difficulties, Katie would would be there, day or night, to take care of anything. Thank you for helping us plan the most amazing 25th anniversary celebration!!!

Doug & Melissa

Our highlight was snorkeling with the turtles in Mexico. We loved that she got back to us immediately every time we had any questions. No waiting 2 days to hear from her. Very knowledgable and kept us in the know. Seemed very excited to check into things, almost to the point where she was actually coming along with us. It's nice to work with someone who loves her job and we defiantly could tell that from her. I felt very safe with trusting in her. We all loved her enthusiasm.

Most Memorable Trip Planned:  My most challenging travel request was booking air for a woman coming home from the Peace Corps in South Africa. Due to the time change and urgency of the trip, I had to schedule several calls at 3AM to arrange flights.  She was living in a small unsafe village so just getting her to Johannesburg was a challenge, but it all worked out in the end and she made it home safely!

Travel Bucket List:  Belize, Aruba, Tahiti, African Safari, and a river cruise through parts of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Bucket List Destinations:  Too many to list, but I'd drop everything and go to Iceland tomorrow!

Most Memorable Trip Planned: One day a client of mine came into the office with a rose and whisked me off to lunch. I had recently booked a cruise tour to Alaska for her, her husband, and their friends, and she wanted to tell me all about it. Over our meal, she told me all about their trip with tears in her eyes. She wanted it to be the trip of a lifetime and that had truly happened!  She thanked me for the many memories she now has with her friends and husband to last for many years.

Favorite Destinations:  I have been to many islands in the Caribbean but Jamaica is my favorite!  The people, the food...oh, the FOOD!  It's wonderful!

I cold called....emailed Katie Dillabaugh not being a seasoned traveler, quite frankly not a traveler at all. However, I have forever wanted to go to a beach, lay in the sun, swim in the ocean. She nailed it. 9 days in Myrtle Beach SC, weather was hot to my liking, beach was fabulous, hotel was amazing, just what I asked for ocean room view room, up a few floors. I walked the area and found some out of the way places, recommend by some locals. Mexican, not like you get in ND, Italian,a family run restaurant, and the ice cream shop a necessity every night. Katie was thorough she explained everything and put my mind at ease when I was going through the "what ifs" she gave me a card with a number directly to her if something should come up. Who does that? I cannot wait to find another destination. I do not sight see, nor do I shop, so again it will be a beach, sand, ocean, in a quaint little gypsy city. Katie is a saint when it comes to planning a trip with a client( who feels like family when you meet her) Travel Travel is one lucky business to have her. Mary Mrozla

Way more helpful booked in a matter of an hour after calling!!

Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card Review: Big Rewards, No Annual Fee

Gregory Karp Author Avatar

What’s on This Page

The bottom line, pros and cons, detailed review, compare to other cards, benefits and perks, drawbacks and considerations, how to decide if it's right for you.

This card offers excellent rewards — not to mention transfer partners — for an unbeatable price. It doesn't offer the perks of an airline- or hotel-branded card, though.

Cell phone insurance

New cardholder bonus offer

No free checked bags

No free anniversary night

No luxury perks

Requires good/excellent credit

If you'd love to earn valuable rewards on your travel credit card but hate annual fees, consider putting your autograph on an application for the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card .

The card, which has an annual fee of $0 , is primarily positioned in the market as a travel credit card because of its triple points on travel spending. But its other bonus-reward categories are highly useful for everyday spending, too. They include 3 points per dollar spent at restaurants and gas stations, as well as on transit, streaming services and phone plans. Plus, those points are flexible; you can even transfer them to a limited number of travel partners.

That makes this card a candidate to be a primary — even front-of-wallet — credit card to carry with you, as well as one you can “set and forget” for recurring streaming and phone payments. And rewards are unlimited, unlike some competing cards that cap bonus rewards. That’s a big deal for big spenders.

You won’t get the upscale perks of high-annual-fee travel credit cards, or brand-specific perks like free checked bags that airline credit cards often offer. But a healthy sign-up bonus and nice-to-have cell phone insurance on the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card add to its allure as a top pick among not only no-fee travel credit cards but cash-back cards as well.

The same bank also offers an ideal companion — an excellent flat-rate rewards card called the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card .

Some Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card holders were moved to the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card when the Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card was discontinued in 2023.

Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card : Basics

The Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card vs. the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠

The Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card has a $95-annual-fee sibling, the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠. The cards have different rewards structures, but some of the same benefits.

Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card

Annual fee of $0

Some of the best rewards cards — especially those that have generous welcome offers and high ongoing rewards — come with an annual fee. You usually have to earn enough value in rewards to break even with the annual fee. That's not an issue with the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card . It's rare to find a travel rewards card that offers this much ongoing value at no yearly cost (assuming you don't rack up interest charges).

» MORE: NerdWallet's best no annual fee travel credit cards

Useful reward categories

Reward categories for the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card are lucrative and broadly appealing. The 3 points per dollar spent apply to many spending categories you might use in a single day, even when you’re not traveling. They include restaurants, transit and gas stations. And nowadays, most people are paying for popular streaming services and phone plans, so you may as well get rewarded for it.

Travel and transit definitions are broad and include: airline, hotel/motel, timeshare, vehicle/auto rental, cruise lines, travel agencies, discount travel websites, campgrounds, passenger railway, taxis, limousines, ferries, toll bridges and highways, parking lots and garages. The gas stations category includes electric vehicle charging stations. And the restaurant category specifically includes caterers.

Adding to its everyday shopping appeal are retail offers. Cardholders have access to My Wells Fargo Deals — a merchant-funded platform that offers cash back in the form of a statement credit when shopping, dining or enjoying an experience. You must activate the deal first.

» MORE: NerdWallet's best cards for streaming services

Travel-friendly

The lack of foreign transaction fees is welcome on the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card — and, really, should be table stakes for all travel credit cards. Plus, it's a Visa, which has worldwide acceptance.

Unlimited rewards

Sometimes underappreciated is whether a card’s bonus rewards are unlimited. The Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card has no caps on its 3x rewards. That makes it even more lucrative for bigger spenders who would hit the bonus rewards cap with other cards and then be relegated to earning a mere 1 point per dollar spent.

For example, the Chase Freedom Flex℠ with an annual fee of $0 is a cash-back card, but it can be used as a travel card, too. (It offers 5% back on travel booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards® .) While excellent in many ways, the card’s 5% rotating bonus categories are capped at $1,500 per quarter before dropping to 1% cash back.

Notable too: the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card points don’t expire so long as the card account is open.

» SEE: Benefits of the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card

Ample redemption options

No matter how you redeem your rewards, the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card has plenty of options. Points are generally worth a penny each when used toward a statement credit, gift cards or booking travel through Wells Fargo's portal.

But for travelers willing to put in the work, transferring points to the card's transfer partners can provide outsized value:

Air France-KLM (1:1 ratio).

Avianca (1:1 ratio).

British Airways (1:1 ratio).

Aer Lingus (1:1 ratio).

Iberia (1:1 ratio).

Choice Privileges Hotels (1:2 ratio).

Access to transfer partners on a $0 -annual-fee is rare (but not unheard of). While that partner list isn't as broad as other cards that earn transferrable point currencies — such as Chase Ultimate Rewards® or American Express Membership Rewards — it should still be possible to find good deals if you're willing to put in the research.

Points can be combined among Wells Fargo primary-cardholder accounts. For example, if you hold the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card , cash-back rewards earned on that card can also be combined with rewards from the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card and the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠. However, if you hold only the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card , you cannot transfer rewards to travel partners.

The Wells Fargo one-two punch

A bonus rewards credit card like this one in conjunction with a good flat-rate credit card can dovetail nicely to amp up overall rewards. Wells Fargo has two of the better cards for such a pairing: this Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card for its bonus categories and travel perks, plus the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card for its high 2% cash back on all spending and a healthy sign-up bonus.

As an example, you would use the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card at restaurants and gas stations, earning 3 points per dollar spent, while pulling out the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card to pay the dentist, florist and other vendors who don’t fit into the bonus categories, earning 2 points per dollar spent.

Few premium perks

If you're seeking a card with exclusive travel perks and other benefits, you're probably going to have to pay for it. The Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card doesn't come with an annual fee, but it also doesn't come with goodies like Global Entry/TSA PreCheck application reimbursement, airport lounge access or the ability to transfer rewards to hotel or airline partners.

Debatably, that knocks it down a step from many travel credit cards that offer those perks but also charge an annual fee.

For example, you would get a free checked bag for you and a companion, plus priority boarding on United flights with the United℠ Explorer Card , which has an annual fee of $0 intro for the first year, then $95 .

Or, a hotel card like the World of Hyatt Credit Card , with an annual fee of $95 , gives you an automatic free night annually.

Bonus categories to remember

If you want rewards from a travel card without annual fees but find the idea of remembering bonus categories unpalatable, the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card is a solid choice. Cardholders earn an unlimited 1.5 points per dollar spent on all purchases. You also earn 3 points per dollar spent — twice the card's usual rate — at the Bank of America® Travel Center. Rewards can be redeemed for credit against any travel purchase. Those who qualify for the Bank of America Preferred Rewards ® program can earn bonuses on their earnings of 25% or more.

And, again, if simple cash back is more your taste, you’ll have trouble beating the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card with 2% cash back on everything and a generous sign-up bonus.

The Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card is not only a good travel credit card, but it's also a good card for everyday spending, too. There are plenty of redemption options, including access to travel transfer partners.

It won’t give you higher-end travel perks, like lounge access or free checked bags at the airport. But those premium perks come with a premium price.

If you don’t like annual fees, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better travel credit card than the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card , whether you’re on a far-flung journey or staying near home.

NerdWallet reviews credit cards with an eye toward both the quantitative and qualitative features of a card. Quantitative features are those that boil down to dollars and cents, such as fees, interest rates, rewards (including earning rates and redemption values) and the cash value of benefits and perks. Qualitative factors are those that affect how easy or difficult it is for a typical cardholder to get good value from the card. They include such things as the ease of application, simplicity of the rewards structure, the likelihood of using certain features, and whether a card is well-suited to everyday use or is best reserved for specific purchases. Our star ratings serve as a general gauge of how each card compares with others in its class, but star ratings are intended to be just one consideration when a consumer is choosing a credit card. The Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Visa® Card * -- Wells Fargo’s latest and best travel card -- recently launched with an impressive set of features. Its competitive rewards, welcome bonus and redemption options take aim at incumbent travel credit cards from Chase, American Express and Capital One.

What gives Wells Fargo’s first foray into the point-transfer space an edge is that you don’t have to book travel in a portal to earn the highest rewards rates.

Here’s why we think the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey could go toe-to-toe with some of the best travel credit cards, plus three insider tips to help you decide if you should add it to your credit card lineup.

Here’s a quick overview of what you can expect with the Autograph Journey:

  • Earn 60,000 welcome bonus rewards points after spending $4,000 in purchases within three months of account opening.
  • Earn unlimited 5x points on hotels, 4x points on airlines, 3x points on other travel and dining and 1x on other purchases.
  • Receive an annual statement credit with a $50 minimum airline purchase.
  • No foreign transaction fees.
  • Other benefits include trip cancellation and interruption insurance, lost luggage reimbursement, roadside dispatch and cell phone insurance.
  • $95 annual fee.

Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card

Here’s a rundown of four facts we discovered about the Autograph Journey that you should know when deciding whether to apply.

1. You can transfer points with Wells Fargo point-based cards

The launch of the Autograph Journey also marks the first transferable points program from Wells Fargo, which joins other card issuers like Chase and Capital One, which have their own pooling programs .

Autograph Journey will be able to do a points transfer with the no-annual-fee Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card . This is especially notable since the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card offers bonus rewards in different categories than the Autograph Journey.

For example, the Autograph card earns unlimited 3x points on restaurants, travel, gas stations, transit, popular streaming services and phone plans, plus 1x points on other purchases. So you can maximize your point earning across different categories, then transfer your points to your Autograph Journey account to access premium travel redemptions.

2. It offers more options for earning bonus miles on travel than some competitors

The Autograph Journey will offer more flexibility than many travel rewards cards when it comes to earning more points on travel purchases. For example, cardholders earn unlimited 5x points on hotels booked directly with hotel brands and 4x points on airfare booked with airlines.

This helps the card stand out from other popular travel credit cards that offer the most bonus points only if you book travel through their portals. For example, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card * and the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card * only offer the highest bonus rewards on travel booked through Capital One Travel. The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card also offers its highest rate of 5x points on travel booked through Chase Travel℠, whereas other travel purchases earn 2x points.

Autograph Journey cardholders also earn a minimum of 3x points on other travel purchases, which could include rental cars, cruises and travel booked through online travel agencies like Expedia and Priceline.

3. The card may grow in value as more transfer partners join

The Autograph Journey Card will earn flexible travel rewards points that transfer to a selection of airline and hotel partners, similar to Amex Membership Rewards points or Chase Ultimate Rewards . While the list of transfer partners is limited, Wells Fargo stated in its initial press release that “more partners will continue to be added throughout the year.”

Points transfers could dramatically change the value proposition of the Autograph Journey, especially if new partners include domestic airlines and popular hotel loyalty programs.

Wells Fargo point transfers will be available to new cardholders starting on April 4. For now, Wells Fargo transfer partners include the following:

How New Google Maps Features Encourage Sustainable Travel

Google Maps

Are you a Google Search or Google Maps user? You’re not alone – Google Maps has over one billion monthly users and approximately 99,000 search queries are processed by Google every second, resulting in about eight and a half billion searches daily and roughly two trillion global searches annually, or hundreds of millions of users daily.

So, Google is supporting its users in finding more sustainable transport methods.

“When it comes to travelling and commuting, we want people to have the right information to make more sustainable choices,” says James Byers, Group Product Manager, Search.

“With new updates to features in Maps and Search, you can find convenient public transit and walking routes, see alternatives to air travel and better understand the estimated emissions of flights.”

James has been at Google since 2017, moving from Cloud to Search in 2021. An alumni of economics and management at Cornell University, he founded WikiSpaces in 2004 and grew monthly visitors to 50 million before 2014 when it was acquired by TES. James was the Global Director of Marketplace at TES until joining Google.

Google supports sustainable user decisions

Despite growing travel demands post-Covid, to reach the global sustainability goals and reduce global warming the transport sector needs to reduce emissions by around a quarter by 2030.

The updates to Google Search and Google Maps are designed to encourage users looking for travel information to consider the environmental impact of their decisions.

In Maps, this comes in the form of a new feature that suggests public transport or walking options where travel times are comparable to driving routes. In Search, a new expanded feature supports users finding information on buses and long distance train routes.

Last year, a new sustainable Search feature gave users looking for flight information about train routes, which is now being rolled out to Google Flights too. The Travel Impact Model (TIM), a methodology published by Google and created by James in 2022 for predicting per-passenger flight emissions, filters results in Google Flights by lower-emitting options – this has been made more accessible in the update.

James concludes: “While there’s still a long road ahead when it comes to sustainable travel, today’s updates will give more people the information they need to choose lower-carbon alternatives.”
