Event Details

Formed in Manchester in 2002, The 1975 have established themselves as one of the defining bands of their generation with their distinctive aesthetic, ardent fanbase and unique sonic approach.

Led by frontman Matt Healy, the son of actors Tim Healy and Denise Welch, The 1975 take inspiration from the 1980s pop of Michael Jackson and Prince, the art school new wave of Talking Heads and Scritti Politti, and the 1990s R&B of D'Angelo and TLC to create modern, anthemic indie rock. Starting out as teenagers thrashing out punk covers at local youth clubs, the band signed to indie label Dirty Hit in 2012 and had early EPs  Facedown  and  Sex   championed by Radio 1 DJs Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe. Single  “Chocolate”   made the UK top 20 before their self-titled debut album, produced by Mike Crossey, topped the UK charts and won praise for its grand ambition and rousing crescendos of infectious indie pop. Their second album,   I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It , released in 2015, topped the UK Albums Chart and the  Billboard  200, also being shortlisted for a Mercury Music Prize. They followed this success with the concept album   A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships  in 2018, which also reached #1 in the UK, before returning in 2020 with  Notes on a Conditional Form.  The band were named NME’s ‘Band of the Decade’ in 2020 after being crowned ‘Best Group’ at the BRIT Awards in both 2017 & 2019.

The 1975 return with new album, ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’, released on   Oct. 14 via Dirty Hit.

You can see the band on Oct. 25 at T-Mobile Center. Tickets go on sale on June 23 at 10 a.m.

1975 tour kansas city

The 1975 have announced a behemoth run of shows in the U.S. and Canada slated for this fall. The band's Still...at their very best tour kicks off on September 26 at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center, and will wrap up almost three whole months later at Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena. In celebration, they've also released Episode 4 of their absurdist video series "A Theatrical Performance Of An Intimate Moment."

Still...at their very best is a continuation of the 1975's ongoing At Their Very Best tour, which has been marked by near-constant online discourse, mostly thanks to the antics of frontman Matty Healy. These include eating raw meat on stage, making out with fans, cameramen, and security guards, and — oh, yeah — dating Taylor Swift . These new shows promise an expanded production, but what that means is still anyone's guess.

The 1975

The 1975 has announced the “Still… At Their Very Best” fall tour, the band’s biggest North American tour to date. The Matty Healy-led group will take their fifth album, “Being Funny in a Foreign Language,” across the U.S. and Canada for the second time since its October 2022 release.

The tour will kick off Sept. 26 in Sacramento, Calif., and end Dec. 2 in Seattle.

The band had teased the tour on social media throughout the month, posting vague visuals and linking to an online registration form.

“The album felt like you were watching something, like you were a witness to something,” frontman Matty Healy, who wrote the show and served as its creative director, told Variety in December . “And that was the idea with the show as well. We wanted it to be as experiential as the album was.”

The tour evolved throughout its initial North American run, from altered setlists to surprise guest cameos from Phoebe Bridgers and Bleachers. Healy made headlines for bringing fans onstage during “Robbers” and passionately kissing them.

Variety praised the band’s latest performance at Madison Square Garden , calling the concert a “captivating exposition from a band that embraces nearly every pop trope yet demands to be taken seriously.” The band will return to the famed New York City venue on Nov. 14.

A fan presale begins June 21 at 10 a.m. local time, while public tickets will go on sale June 23 at 10 a.m. on the 1975’s website .

Rocking the Americas: The Rolling Stones’ Tour of 1975 in Photos

In the annals of rock ‘n’ roll, there are legendary tours that have taken on a life of their own, and The Rolling Stones ’ Tour of the Americas in 1975 is certainly one of them. It was a tour that saw one of the most iconic rock bands of all time taking on a new member, introducing a new stage persona, and embarking on a wild journey across North and South America. Let’s roll back the years and revisit this significant milestone in the history of The Rolling Stones.

A Band in Transition

The 1975 tour was a pivotal moment for The Rolling Stones. It marked the first time the band toured with guitarist Ronnie Wood, who had recently replaced Mick Taylor. While Taylor’s departure had initially caused some anxiety among fans, Wood quickly proved himself to be a more than capable replacement. His chemistry with the band, both on and off the stage, was palpable, and it wasn’t long before he became an integral part of the Stones’ sound and identity.

A New Stage Persona

The tour also marked the introduction of a new stage persona for lead singer Mick Jagger. Donning a series of elaborate costumes and embracing a flamboyant performance style, Jagger commanded the stage with an unprecedented level of theatricality. He was no longer just a rock singer; he was a performer in the truest sense of the word. This transformation added a new layer to The Rolling Stones’ live performances and made the 1975 tour a visual spectacle as much as a musical one.

Touring the Americas

The Tour of the Americas saw The Rolling Stones playing in stadiums across North and South America, bringing their unique brand of rock ‘n’ roll to hundreds of thousands of fans. From the concrete jungles of New York to the vibrant landscapes of Brazil, the Stones left no stone unturned.

Each concert was an event, with the band playing a mix of their greatest hits and new songs from their then-recently released album, “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll”. The response from the fans was overwhelming, further cementing The Rolling Stones’ status as one of the greatest rock bands in history.

The Legacy of the Tour

The Tour of the Americas ’75 was more than just a series of concerts; it was a defining moment in The Rolling Stones’ career. It helped to establish the band’s reputation as a dynamic live act and set a new standard for rock ‘n’ roll performances. Even today, the tour is remembered as one of the band’s most iconic outings.

Beyond its significance to The Rolling Stones, the tour also had a profound impact on the music industry. It demonstrated the potential of rock concerts as major events capable of filling stadiums, paving the way for the large-scale rock tours that have since become commonplace.

Relive the exhilarating energy and infectious rhythm of The Rolling Stones’ Tour of the Americas ’75 through these stunning stunning photos. These captivating images not only capture the electrifying performances of the iconic band but also showcase the vibrant and enthusiastic audiences that made each show an unforgettable experience.

1975 tour kansas city

It was at the end of November that the 1975 tour, which started with the album “THE WHO BY NUMBERS” to which the word “honorable work” fits perfectly, reached the United States. A number of masterpiece audiences have already been released from the tour that took place over a month. The timeless masterpiece “PROVIDENCE 1975”, Dan Lampinsky’s masterpiece recording “SPRING FIELD 1975” and recently “CINCINNATI 1975”, it seems strange that a good audience is concentrated on the leg in December, but this time Limited press CD release of the performance on December 1st, which can be said to be the starting point of such a month! The stage was Kemper Arena in Kansas City. The sound quality of the first appearance sound source that captured the stage of the day is really wonderful. The items mentioned above in December 1975 tended to have a sound image that felt a sense of distance, but the sound source this time was very close to the sound image. However, since it is a stereo audience in 1975, it is far from being described as a “sound board”, but it is still in a recording state where it is quite close and overwhelmingly easy to hear. Speaking of how easy it is to hear, it seems that you can count how many times Keith Moon’s bass drum, which is the backbone of The Who’s live sound, is stepped on in the song (laughs). It was a time when his drumming, which rarely uses hi-hats, was at its peak, so it’s too fascinating to see how Keith’s unique play explodes. I wonder if I will be reminded that I was the only drummer.

Thanks to such a unique sound quality, Keith on that day was in great shape and was pulling the band. The point may be that he was blown away with a good feeling (bitter smile), but even so, his presence on this day was overwhelming. On the contrary, isn’t Pete overwhelmed by Keith? Scenes that seem to be one after another. Still, the ensemble of the whole band is also a very interesting sound source that sounds fresh rather than running out of control as much as the items that recorded Cincinnati and the stages after that one week later. The atmosphere is most noticeable in the “Squeeze Box”. In the first place, when the tour started from Europe in October, it was treated as the third song to be performed live, and it was the same on that day. However, at this point, it has not been developed as a repertoire yet, and it has a freshness that seems to be a new song that has just been released, and the atmosphere is clearly different from the performance that praised the strength after Cincinnati. The next year, the band will play with complete confidence, and Roger will evolve to encourage the audience to sing, so the careful performance here will be even more refreshing. After all, the fact that the main character of the day is Keith stands out as the live progresses, and “Magic Bus”, which was a free and high-tension performance, was played by him with a sense of speed more than usual. It is also impressive that it is. This point is also significantly different from after Cincinnati, where the performance feels heavy. Speaking of such a great Keith, “Fiddle About” is the lead vocalist in the shortened version “TOMMY” corner. On this day, he was making a strange voice even before the performance started, and when it started, Keith was already alone. Originally it is a song in which he rampages in all directions, but the rampage on this day is exceptional. Not only in the performance but also in the scene where he was in the spotlight, he showed a great performance.

However, Pete also shows his true character by pulling the band with ad lib after “My Generation”, which is a medley development after the “TOMMY” corner. The development that turns from a very quiet and melancholic ad lib to a fierce finale “Won’t Get Fooled Again” is wonderful. However, in the same song, there is a slight skipping around 7 minutes, so that the enthusiast who uploaded this sound source will patch the YouTube version that will be touched later so that it can be heard without discomfort. He made it. And since it boasts top-class sound quality among the 75-year tour audience, it was already 10 years ago when it appeared on YouTube and was an easy-to-listen sound source. However, the sound quality is clearly better this time. Rather, the point that the pitch was considerably lower than the YouTube version is a flaw in the ball, so it is suitable for a limited press CD release and adjusted firmly. Furthermore, it is tailored to the state where you can hear Keith in excellent condition. Above all, it’s said that such a powerful and superb audience has never been released!

Dawn staley one win away from joining elite club of coaching undefeated teams.

1975 tour kansas city

Quite the exclusive group Dawn Staley now seeks to join. Five men, three women. More humans than that have walked on the moon. The Perfection Club.

All you have to do is go unbeaten and win the Division I national championship. Just one little zero on the right side of the hyphen of your team’s record, and you’re in. Piece of cake. So here are the South Carolina women, 37-0 with one more test to pass, facing an opponent from the cornfields of the Midwest led by Caitlin something or another. One more win and Staley joins the pantheon. Surely that part has her thrilled about her Gamecocks vs. Iowa on Sunday afternoon, right? Right?

“No, not really,” she said Saturday at her press conference. “When I look at basketball, I don't look at wins and losses. I look at how things are executed and allow the wins or the losses to take care of themselves. And as much as you bring up an undefeated season, it doesn't feel like it because we've played some bad basketball that made it feel like we lost."

“It's really hard to believe that we're undefeated because I don't feel it. As a coaching staff, we have to pinch ourselves to even know that's true because deep down we see what our shortcomings are every single day.”

Yes, Staley seems the most wary 37-0 coach in America. Listen to her discussing Caitlin Clark’s legacy, now that the Iowa megastar is the last hurdle. “If Caitlin wins the championship, she's pretty damn good, yeah, like, she's a GOAT. I mean, she's really damn good regardless. But winning the championship would seal the deal. I hope to the dear Lord she doesn't.”

Maybe the unbeaten coaches who came before felt that way, too. Still, to be on a list this short has to be special. If not now, one day. And if there is to be an imminent addition to The Perfection Club, we should take a roll call for both the women and men.

Geno Auriemma.

Where else to begin but the coach who has done it six times? Six. There have been nine unbeaten national champions since the women’s NCAA tournament began in 1982, and Connecticut owns two-thirds of them. The most recent was 2016, which was part of the Huskies’ record 111-game winning streak and the last of the Breanna Stewart-led fourpeat champions. “They’ve created an amount of excitement that the game has not seen in a long, long time, if ever,” Auriemma said.

Auriemma nearly stacked even more unbeaten teams. His 11 national champions had a combined record of 407-11. Included in the 36-0 NCAA tournament record of the six perfect seasons were 24 wins by at least 20 points, and only four by single digits. The average winning margin for the 2016 champions in the tournament was 39.8.

One other interesting thing he said that night in ’16 about trying to continue to attract the team-first players who were willing to work their way up; the sort who had helped build the UConn dynasty. “The tide is shifting under your feet, you can feel it. The kids are kids, they’re affected by all the stuff now that kids weren’t affected by before. Parents are parents. They live through their kids since the time their kid picks up a basketball.”

Connecticut has not won a national championship since.

John Wooden.

Ten national championships, four unbeaten teams. Two were led by Bill Walton, one by then Lew Alcindor and now Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Wooden’s first of 10 champions was also his first perfect record. The 1964 Bruins went 30-0 with no starter taller than 6-5 and survived a series of close calls in the tournament, beating Seattle by five, San Francisco by four and Kansas State by six. In contrast, the 1967 Alcindor Bruins went on a rampage winning four NCAA games by 49, 16, 15 and 15 points. That total of spread of 95 points over four games was the largest in the history of the men’s tournament — until Connecticut this March.

Auriemma and Wooden. Each had back-to-back perfect seasons. Each won their first title with no losses. But that’s it for the coaches who have known perfection more than once, The other six are one-timers, in chronological order.

Phil Woolpert.

He was barely 40 years old when San Francisco went 29-0 in 1956. It helped considerably that his center was named Bill Russell. In the 83-71 championship game win over Iowa, Russell had 26 points and 27 rebounds. Woolpert retired at a relatively early age and ended up driving a school bus.

Frank McGuire.

One of 13 kids of a New York City policeman, McGuire had already accomplished a lot before he took the job at North Carolina in the early 1950s, having coached St. John’s into both the basketball Final Four and baseball College World Series. But 1957 was the highlight when his Tar Heels went 32-0 and won a championship with the hardest labor possible — triple overtime over Michigan State in the semifinals, and triple overtime over Kansas and Wilt Chamberlain the next night in the championship game.

Some alleged major recruiting violations eventually forced McGuire out in Chapel Hill. He was replaced by his assistant, a Kansas native named Dean Smith.

Bob Knight.

In 1975, Indiana was unbeaten headed into the Elite Eight but lost a 92-90 heartbreaker to Kentucky. The Hoosiers would finish the job the next season, going 32-0 and clinching the championship 86-68 over Michigan, the first time two teams from the same conference met in the title game. Knight was 35 years old that night in Philadelphia. He remains the fourth-youngest national championship coach, and that Indiana team is still the last unbeaten men’s champion 48 years later. He and Dan Smith are also the only men to both play for and coach a national champion.

👀 S EE THE BRACKET

Jody Conradt.

Given the powerhouse Conradt built in women’s basketball at Texas in the 1970s and ’80s, it seemed clear the fledgling NCAA tournament would not go long before a Longhorns team stood on the championship podium. That took only five years. Texas went 34-0 in 1986 and won the championship game over USC and Cheryl Miller, 97-81, with freshman Clarissa Davis coming off the bench to score 25 points and be named Most Outstanding Player. Conradt would coach 21 more years at Texas but never returned to the championship game. But she will always be the first women’s coach to go unbeaten through an NCAA tournament.

Pat Summitt.

Eight national championships, nearly 1,100 wins, the patron saint of women’s college basketball, Summitt accomplished everything imaginable, and that included a three-peat title run in 1996-98. It was something of an odd journey for the Vols. They won in 1996, then repeated in ’97 after an uncharacteristically wobbly season with 10 defeats. To this day they are the only women’s champion in history with double-digit losses. How to follow that? Go 39-0 in 1998, with only three of the 39 wins in single digits.

Summitt would win two more titles a decade later and then, so suddenly, be gone.

Kim Mulkey.

She surely has always known how to stir the pot, from her words to her wardrobe, but there was something pretty simple about Baylor in 2012. The Bears were better than anyone. No team, men or women, had ever gone 40-0 before. But Baylor did. That was the second of three titles with the Bears for Mulkey, who added a fourth at LSU in 2023.

It was also part of a parade of unbeatens in the women’s game. From 2009-2016 there were five in eight years. But none since.

At least until Sunday. The Perfection Club awaits its ninth member. One last problem to solve, and her name is Caitlin Clark.
