If you're looking for the best-remanufactured transmission, Reman-Transmission can help. Each transmission features a fully remanufactured and enhanced torque converter. To reduce the likelihood of vibration, front seal leaks, and premature wear on the bushing, each torque converter is inspected and tested for concentricity, lock-up, leaks, as well as balance. All transmissions include a completely remanufactured valve body with a complete system correction and recalibration kit. Each component is independently tested. To ensure the highest level of performance and reliability, all valves prone to wear and tear are rejuvenated to stringent specifications and vacuum tested to ensure proper functionality. Before each transmission is stamped ready, they must undergo extensive testing, including cold, hot, load, and simulated road testing via our state-of-the-art, proprietary Computer-Aided Road Simulation (CARS) dynamometer program. In addition, every Reman-Transmission is backed by the industry's most robust, no-hassle, nationwide parts and labor warranty.

The core is the original transmission you are replacing. One of the key ways we keep our prices low and affordable is that we require you to return your old transmission (the core). To simplify this process, we will cover all shipping costs associated with returning your core to us. It's imperative you understand that returning the core is your responsibility and must be initiated by you — the customer. After your new remanufactured transmission has been installed, simply visit our Core Return or call us at (888) 242-2605 to initiate the process and arrange for core pickup.

Best of all, there are no upfront charges — unless the Waive Core Now option isn't available — as long as you schedule the pickup of your existing core within 30 days of receipt of your transmission. When you choose the “Waive Core Charge” option, you authorize Reman Transmission to charge your credit card for the amount if you fail to return it after 30 days of delivery. Need more time to return the core? Simply let us know. However, if the core isn't paid for or returned, the warranty will be void. If you do return the core after you have been billed, you will be responsible for a $50 processing fee. In either case, Reman Transmission will pay for the return shipping at no additional charge to you.

At Reman Transmission, we offer a Flat Rate Shipping (Commercial address) service as long as the delivery address is in a commercially zoned location. Unfortunately, residential and home businesses are not considered commercial addresses. A business or commercial address location must be able to receive freight without the requirement of prior appointment setup or notification. This location should also have the capability of unloading the remanufactured transmission with a forklift from the delivery truck. If you don"t have a commercial or business address that meets these specifications, you should ship it directly to the dealership or repair shop that is performing the repairs to ensure you enjoy Flat Rate Shipping (Commercial address). Residential delivery or Liftgate service will result in additional $99 fee.

After placing the order for a remanufactured transmission, most customers will receive it within 7-14 business days — not including holidays or weekends. Please keep in mind that certain locations (remote areas) and locations in Colorado, Utah, New York, Oregon, and California may require an additional delivery fee. In either case, we will always ship your remanufactured transmission out as soon as possible. Because of weather conditions, increasing order volumes, and conditions outside of our control, all shipping times are estimates, not guarantees. It"s important to note that Reman Transmission will not be liable for any extra fees the carrier may levy due to storage or redelivery. While every transmission from Reman Transmission has been rigorously inspected and tested prior to being shipped, damage may occur during transportation.

As such, we strongly suggest you carefully inspect your transmission upon receipt. If you notice any missing parts, wrong parts, or damage, you should report it prior to signing any delivery documentation. It"s imperative to report missing parts, damage, or wrong parts at the time of delivery. If you fail to do so prior to signing your shipping documents, responsibility will be placed on the purchaser or receiver. For clarity, "purchaser" refers to any representative of the company designated to sign for the delivery of the remanufactured transmission.

What is a "Core Charge"?

In order to understand what a core charge is, you must first understand what a core is. In the automotive industry, most products are manufactured from brand new materials. However, numerous products are also remanufactured, meaning that the manufacturer of the product takes a used product, typically removed from a vehicle, disassembles, and replaces all worn components of the master product. A great example of this is in regards to automatic transmissions in which the manufacturer takes an existing transmission, replaces all of the inner working components, such as the torque converter, valve body, etc. and merely reuses the case. Because aftermarket manufacturers require a steady stream of incoming cores to build, they charge a deposit on the core, known as a core charge, that is refunded upon receipt. In some cases, the core is not reusable, such as in the event of a cracked case, at which point the core deposit would not be credited as the core component is not reusable. If you plan on returning your core you have two options. OPTION 1: You can accept it, which means you will be charged for the part AND the core at time of purchase. You still have the option to send it back, and if you do, the core will be refunded back on the card used, presuming the core meets core criteria and the core is returned within 21 business days from originally receiving your order. If you have outstanding circumstances that would not allow the return to occur within 21 days, please contact us. OPTION 2 You can defer the core charge. If you defer it, you will not be charged a core at time of purchase. You will have 21 business days from the day you receive it to send it back. As long as the core is received within the 21 business days, you will not be charged. If 21 business days goes by and you do not send it back, the card on file will be charged the core amount. You still may send it back, and once received, we will issue the core amount as in store credit, pending any limitations as set forth by the manufacturer. Core deferral is limited to payment by credit card only.

From street and towing to full race, BD builds them best! To some it is a challenge to simply disassemble and assemble a Ford transmission. For BD, the challenge was to improve the durability and performance of these transmissions in demanding, high-torque diesel applications.

The smooth shifting associated with the stock Ford transmission is the result of slippage that produces heat and accelerates wear. BD transmission and converter clutches are made from specialized, high-performance materials, and 33% more clutch surface is added to eliminate slippage.

A re-programmed valve body with improved valve designs, higher line pressure and enhanced oil flow creates positive clutch apply, which results in quick, sharp shifts. A BD deep-sump aluminum pan is also fitted, which increases oil capacity for cooler operation. The planetary gear packs are made from high-strength steel, and heavy-duty, one-way roller Sprague clutches maintain directional stability, unlike the stock or inferior aftermarket products, which can explode.

Finally, each transmission's shift pattern and oil pressure is tested on our transmission dynamometer, then shipped to you in a virtually indestructible molded plastic container. For ultimate strength and reliability, we recommend you match your new BD transmission with a TorqForce performance torque converter.

  • Adds 6qt extra oil capacity
  • Reduces case flex
  • Reduces internal oil leakage
  • Heat-dissipating fins keep temperature down
  • Magnetic drain plug
  • Fully rollerized gear train
  • Tighter clutch packs that provide a quicker shift
  • 30%-40% more clutch material with additional steels
  • Machined center support
  • Machined intermediate piston
  • Machined low/reverse pressure plate
  • Machined rear ring gear hub
  • Improved internal lubrication by adding high power boost valves
  • Reworked front pump
  • Added lube circuits to OD planet
  • Added lube and support to output and intermediate shafts
  • Improved bearing designs
  • Upgrade supports
  • Upgraded sprags
  • Replaced all aluminum planetaries with steel
  • Sure-loc snap rings
  • Drilled and tapped direct and intermediate feeds to prevent leaks at case
  • Full shift kit with line mod valve to increase pressures
  • Enhanced oil flow
  • Increased cooler pressure
  • Increased pressure to converter
  • Creates positive clutch application
  • Created lube circuit for towing in overdrive
  • Solenoids hard wiring providing high temperature resistance
  • 1990-2003 include auxiliary frame mounted full flow filter kit

SHIPPING POLICY: PLEASE READ Due to the size and weight of transmissions, they cannot be shipped through traditional couriers, such as UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc. and MUST be shipped via truck freight. We do not offer free shipping on transmissions, however, we do offer a very competitive flat rate charge that is added to your shopping cart at checkout. Further, to aid in returning your core transmission, we give you the option to be billed up front for the core return and we will coordinate the pickup and return of your transmission. Once your core transmission is ready for pick up, you just need to give us a call or send us an e-mail with your original order number and the core tag on the transmission, and we'll take care of the rest. Otherwise, we give you the option to coordinate the return shipping on your own and independently pay your courier of choice. As always, if you have any questions, give us a call or send us an e-mail.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Torque converter is not included with this transmission package.

WARRANTY - 36 Months / 150,000 Miles. BD torque converter must be installed at the time of installation of the transmission - use of a 3rd party or OE converter will invalidate the transmission warranty.

2000 7.3 transmission issue

2000 ford excursion 7.3 diesel transmission

  • Add to quote

Hello. I’m picking up a 2000 7.3 F-250 tomorrow but it has an issue with the trans. It hesitates or jerks when going into 3rd gear. (Automatic) Wondering if anyone’s had that same issues and what you did to fix it. I’ve heard it’s turbo lag or a bad speed sensor not sure how much I agree with that though. Need to know how much it’ll cost to fix or if I need a whole new transmission. Thanks!

2000 ford excursion 7.3 diesel transmission

I would think a speed sensor would be the more likely culprit (if that is it) over turbo lag. It could be something inside the trans. The best way to know for sure is 1) find out if there are any codes. 2) Have a trans shop look at it and give you an estimate. The trans in my '01 just crapped out after 268K miles in December. It was about $4600, rebuild, new TC, Flex plate (mine had some damaged teeth).

Okay, thanks! I'm having a family friend check it over. It only happens when shifting into 3rd. Never any other gears nor when down shifting. I'll be getting it for a really good deal either way so spending a little money on a trans wouldn't be the death of me

'01 Excursion Transmission Problem

  • Add to quote

I have a 2001 Ford Excursion 4x4 with the 7.3 Diesel, 110,000 miles. I'm out of town, working in Atlanta, and my transmission has started acting up. It revs way up in 1st, and I have to let off completely to get her to drop into 2nd (hard shift). From there it seems to shift okay. The OD light started flashing when the problem started. I took the truck to a shop (complete crap shoot) this morning and they pulled codes 0732 and 0781. Their guy says he thinks it's a bad clutch and recommends rebuilding the transmission for $2000. I've been reading all the posts about this and it seems like there are lots of electrical issues that can cause these symptoms. I don't want to rebuild the transmission if its just a sensor. How can I troubleshoot the problem? Not sure if its relevant, but the day before the problem started I launched a boat and had to back pretty far into the water (Wet VSS?), and it's been wet and rainy all weekend. Also, I had to replace the alternator on the drive out here when it failed. Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

2000 ford excursion 7.3 diesel transmission

It isn't anything electrical. This is a very common failure in the 2001 diesels. It is a failed mechanical diode one way clutch. The transmission has to be rebuilt to fix this. There is no easy or cheap way.

Thanks Mark... Wishful thinking I guess. Does anyone know of a reputable transmission shop around Atlanta? Would I do further damage if I try to drive her back home? Are there any recommended upgrades, rebuild kits, etc that I should consider while I'm at it? Thanks!

I have a 2001 excursion with the 7.3 engine. the trans mission has quit except for reverse. I live near Frederick Maryland can anyone recommend a trustworthy shop. amco rebuilt it 5 years ago. Thanks

Ford dealers can install one of Ford's re-manufactured units that carry a Ford warranty. At one time a heavy duty Ford transmission was available through a Ford dealership, but I do not know if that is still the case.

transmission fluid

The engine in your 2000 Ford Excursion should be running when you perform a transmission fluid level check, otherwise it will be inaccurate. The video above shows where the transmission fluid dipstick or the transmission fluid check plug is located in your Excursion and how to check the transmission fluid level. Your Excursion will have either a transmission dipstick or a check or fill plug to perform a transmission fluid check. The transmission dipstick will typically be in the engine bay or on top or even the side of your Excursion transmission. The transmission check plug will typically be on the bottom or the side of the transmission and may also be next to the axle. If the transmission fluid level in your Excursion is low, you need to add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube or the check plug hole. When adding transmission fluid to your Excursion, be sure to add it slowly as it will fill up quickly and is difficult to remove excess fluid if you overfill.

If you are having problems with the transmission in your Excursion, such as clunky shifting or hesitation, check the fluid level first - it is amazing how many drivers pay thousands of dollars for transmission work when a half quart of transmission fluid would have fixed the problem.
