The taxis of Paris have a flat rate from CDG Airport to any point inside Paris of 58€ for the Left Bank. You shouldn’t pay more than this, that’s why taxi drivers don’t use the taximeter for this type of itinerary. As soon as you jump in the car, the letter “A” below the taxi sign will be on.

The only inconvenience that we see in this kind of service is that there can be a long line outside the terminal waiting for a taxi or some waiting for a free taxi to arrive. On the way to the taxi stop, you may encounter some people proposing you a taxi. Just move on and follow the taxi signs, it’s a scam (taxi drivers never solicit travelers).

Le Bus Direct Shuttle Buses to Paris Airports ORY & CDG

Le Bus Direct (previously Les Cars Air France) are luxury airport shuttle buses that provide easy transportation from downtown Paris to Aéroport Orly (ORY) and Charles de Gaulle (CDG). The Le Bus Direct coaches usually run when trains are on strike!

Le Bus DIrect to Charles de Gaulle Airport

Getting to Paris’s two main airports Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Orly (ORY) always seems a bit more complicated and complex than it should be (or actually is). Trains and local buses provide the cheapest public transportation but Le Bus Direct (previously Les Cars Air France) is a very comfortable option for passengers from Aéroport Charles de Gaulle and Aéroport Orly to downtown Paris. Le Bus Direct coaches also provide the best transit option for travel between Paris-Orly and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports. Suntransfers gives easy online quotes – for groups as small as three or four a taxi may be a good and convenient option.

Cheap Le Bus Direct Transfers to Paris Airports

Le Bus Direct is a comfortable and convenient coach service between Paris airport and downtown Paris and replaced the previous Les Cars Air France buses.

When buying tickets, note:

  • Tickets bought online are not for a specific bus and valid for a year.
  • Tickets bought from the driver have a €1 surcharge.
  • Children 4 to 11 receive a discount.
  • Babies up to 4-year travel for free but do not receive a seat.
  • Groups as small as four traveling together receive discounts if booked online.
  • Return tickets are slightly cheaper than one-way tickets.

Reservations for a specific bus time cannot be made – a seat is thus not guaranteed for a specific departure to the airport but similarly not forfeited when a flight arrives late.

In contrast to the previous Les Cars Air France, Le Bus Direct does not stop at Invalides.

GetYourGuide

Le Bus Direct Shuttle Buses from Paris Airport CDG and ORY

Le Bus Direct (previously Les Cars Air France) are comfortable coaches that provide transportation from central Paris to Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports. Transit passengers between the two airports can also use a direct Le Bus Direct line 3 service. (“Cars” is the French word for coaches or luxury tours or limousine buses, not cars as in passenger motorcar or automobile.)

Travelers from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) can reach downtown Paris on public transportation for less than €10, however, after a long flight and especially when traveling with bulky luggage, Le Bus Direct’s slightly more expensive prices are often a price worth paying. Le Bus Direct coaches have UBS plugs, free limited wifi, air conditioning, special luggage compartments and are never overcrowded. Furthermore, passengers do not require transfers or dragging luggage up and down station stairs.

However, for small groups a private airport shuttle service may be a viable alternative, especially if further transportation is needed from the downtown Paris stop to hotel accommodation. Many private airport shuttle minibus services are available from Paris to Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports – do compare prices as rates and service conditions vary widely. Suntransfers gives easy online quotations.

Le Bus Direct from Paris to Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

Two Le Bus Direct routes connect Paris and Aéroport Charles de Gaulle (CDG):

Le Bus Direct Line 2 from Tour Eiffel to CDG:

Line 2 coaches connect Aéroport Paris-Charles de Gaulle with the Eiffel Tower every 30 minutes between 5:45 am and 11 pm. Traveling time is around an hour but more during rush hour (and especially when other public transportation is on strike!)

Line 2 stops en route to the airport at:

  • Tour Eiffel – 19 Avenue de Suffren (RER C, Metro 6)
  • Étoile / Champs Elysées – 1 Av Carnot (RER A, Metro 1, 2, 6)
  • Porte Maillot – 66 Boulevard de Gouvion St Cyr (RER c, Metro 1)

Line 2 currently does not stop at Trocadero.

The one-way fare for Le Bus Direct is €17 (€30 return) and for children €10 (€20 return) irrespective of which stop is used. Groups of four or more pay €13 one way – for larger groups a taxi or private shuttle van may work out cheaper.

Le Bus Direct Line 4 from Montparnasse to CDG:

Line 4 coaches run from Gare Montparnasse (14 Rue du Commandant Mouchotte) via Gare de Lyon (20 Boulevard Diderot) to Aéroport Charles de Gaulle every half hour between 5:30 am and 10:30 pm. Traveling time for Line 4 coaches is about an hour.

The one-way fare for Le Bus Direct Line 4 buses is €17 (€30 return) and for children €10 (€20 return) irrespective of which stop is used. Groups of four or more pay €13 one way – for larger groups a taxi or private shuttle van may work out cheaper.

Le Bus Direct Stops at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport

Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport is very big and often rather confusing on a first visit making it sensible to use the correct stop at the airport. Le Bus Direct buses departing for Paris use four different stops Charles de Gaulle Airport:

  • Terminal 1 – Exit 32 (Arrivals level)
  • Terminal 2ABCD – Exit C10
  • Terminal 2E-2F – Gallery level, Exit E8 – F9 (This is the main airport stop.)

Passengers arriving at Terminal 3 should use the free CDGVAL shuttle train to Terminal 1. The free CDGVAL shuttle train connects the various terminals – get off at the right stop from the start as walking is rarely an easy option.

Passenger arriving / departing from 2G should use the free N2 shuttle bus to Terminal 2EF

Le Bus Direct Coaches from Paris to Orly Airport (ORY)

Public transportation between Orly Airport and tourist Paris is even more confusing and involved than from Charles de Gaulle. Few tired passengers will regret using the more expensive Le Bus Direct (previously Les Cars Air France) coaches rather than train and bus combinations.

Le Bus Direct Line 1 from Etoile via  Montparnasse to Orly

Le Bus Direct Line 1 runs from Aéroport Orly to Etoile (Arc de Triomphe)  and uses the following stops en route:

  • Garre Montparnasse – 14 Rue du Commandant Mouchotte (Metro 4, 6, 12, 13, various trains)
  • Tour Eiffel – 16 – 20 Avenue de Suffren (RER C, Metro 6) – out of use until mid-2018
  • Trocadero – 10 Place du Trocadéro (Metro 6 & 9)

Traveling time is around 60 minutes to Etoile or 30 minutes to Gare Montparnasse. Le Bus Direct coaches do no longer stop at Invalides, La Motte, or Porte d’Orléans.

Le Bus Direct buses depart two to three times per hour on the Orly route from around 6 am to 11 pm. One-way fares on Le Bus Direct Line 1 are €12 (€20 return) and for children €7 (€14 return) irrespective of which stop is used. Groups of four or more pay €9 one way – for larger groups a taxi or private shuttle van may work out cheaper.

The Cars Air France buses stop at Paris-Orly Airport at:

  • Orly-Ouest / West Terminal – Exit D on the Arrivals Level
  • Orly-Sud / South Terminal – Exit L on the Arrivals Level

Le Bus Direct Transit Buses between Orly & Charles de Gaulle Airports

Transiting between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports can be a nightmare on public transportation. For transit passengers, Le Bus Direct coaches are the most convenient public transportation option by far for getting from Orly to Charles de Gaulle airport or vice versa.

Le Bus Direct Line 3 coaches connect Orly Airport and Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) two to three times per hour between around 6 am and 10:30 pm. Transit traveling time between the two airports is around 1h15 minutes.

The one-way fare for Le Bus Direct Line 3 airport transit buses is €21 (€36 return) and for children €13 (€26 return) irrespective of which stop is used. Groups of four or more pay €16 one way – for larger groups a taxi or private shuttle van may work out cheaper.

An alternative to Line 3 is the RER train line B but traveling time between the two airports will take well over an hour and require transfers. Taxis or a private shuttle may be cheaper than a missed intercontinental flight and may well work out cheaper for small groups too – the break-even point is usually 4 or 5 traveling together.

Le Bus Direct coaches are a comfortable option for especially solo travelers. Small groups may find better value in pre-booked private airport shuttle minibus services – but do compare prices first. Suntransfers gives online quotations for private airport transfers without first requiring personal details or flight numbers. Public transportation options to Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports are plentiful and cheaper but often take longer and require some transfers not designed with luggage schlepping intercontinental passengers in mind.

Drove me around to see some of the best of Paris while providing key historical details along the way. He was very attentive and made the experience memorable as a first time and possibly only-time visitor. His insights had me purchase the skip-the-line ticket for the Louvre where I saw the Mona Lisa and so many other beautiful art pieces. If you have 5+ hours this excursion is where it’s at.”

Tips For Planning Your Paris Layover Tour

Determine your time availability.

Before booking your Paris layover tour, it is essential to determine your time availability. Whether you have a few hours or a full day, options are available to suit your schedule.

For those with only a short layover, consider choosing a private tour that can be customized according to your interests and preferences.

If you have more time available, opt for one of the longer tours that cover all the top sights in Paris like the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame Cathedral and Champs-Élysées.

Keep in mind that traffic in Paris can be unpredictable so it’s always best to err on the side of caution when planning your itinerary.

Choose A Reputable Tour Provider

When booking a Paris layover tour, it’s important to choose a reputable tour provider to ensure a stress-free and enjoyable experience.

Look for reviews and feedback from previous customers, as well as accreditation or association with trusted organizations in the industry.

It’s also essential to choose a tour provider that offers personalized experiences based on your interests and preferences.

Some companies offer private tours with an English-speaking chauffeur who can take you to lesser-known sights or local hotspots that align with your preferences.

Plan Your Transportation Arrangements

To make the most out of your Paris layover tour, it is essential to plan your transportation arrangements ahead of time.

Whether you are arriving at Charles de Gaulle Airport, Orly Airport or Eurostar station, there are various private transfer options available for travelers who want to maximize their time in the city.

For instance, one popular Paris layover tour option includes a chauffeur-driven car that allows visitors to explore bridges, mansions and palaces while in transit to see iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral.

By planning your transportation arrangements before arriving in Paris, you can ensure that you have a stress-free experience traveling around the city while enjoying its top sights.

Be sure to research different transportation options based on what fits your budget and schedule best. Additionally, consider adding any extra destinations or activities along with adjusting plans as per personal preferences by informing travel providers beforehand.

Adding Or Removing Attractions Based On Personal Preferences

Personalization is key when it comes to planning your Paris layover tour. Many reputable tour providers offer customized tours that allow travelers to add or remove attractions based on their personal preferences.

For example, if you’re a history buff, you may want to spend more time at the Louvre Museum and Notre-Dame Cathedral.

It’s essential to research the various tour options available and read reviews from other travelers before making your decision.

This will help ensure you choose a reputable tour provider who can provide insider knowledge and local recommendations specific to your interests.

Packing Essentials

When planning a Paris Layover Tour, it is important to pack efficiently and bring only the essentials. Comfortable walking shoes are a must as you will be exploring the city on foot.

It is also recommended to dress in layers as the weather can be unpredictable.

In addition to clothing and travel documents, it is wise to bring snacks or money for food during your tour as well as a portable charger for electronic devices.

Remember that there may be restrictions on what items you can bring into certain attractions such as the Louvre Museum, so check ahead of time before packing any bags or purses.

Airport And Airline Guidelines

Before embarking on your Paris layover tour, it’s important to note the airport and airline guidelines to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience.

Each airport has its own set of rules and regulations, so be sure to check with your specific airline for any additional requirements.

For example, if you’re traveling within Europe on a Schengen visa, you may need to allow extra time for passport control when arriving from outside the EU.

Additionally, most airlines require passengers to be back at the airport at least 2 hours before their next flight departs, so make sure that your tour ends plenty of time before departure.

It’s also recommended to pack light for your layover tour as each airline has different baggage restrictions.

One-day Paris Tour

The following is a simple tour which covers most of the main sites in Paris and which you may want to follow to get acclimated to the city. If you want to actually visit these sites (rather than just viewing them from the outside), I strongly recommend you purchase a Paris Museum Card (Carte Musees) which will allow admission to several of the sites below often without waiting in long lines. These can be purchased on-line at https://www.parismuseumpass.fr/ and can be purchased for 2,4, or 6 days. Besides saving time, these cards will also save you money if you visit more than 3 museums/sites in a day. Unless otherwise noted, all of the sites in the tour below are covered by the Paris Museum Card.

Stop 1: Arc de Triumph – Stop 1: Arc de Triumph – Take the metro to Charles de Gaulle Etole . Come up from the station and you will see the arch (it is hard to miss). Don’t try to cross the street as it is one of Europe’s most famous and busiest traffic circles. Instead, use the subways (under street passages) that led to the arch itself. The top of the arch is accessible by elevator and is covered by the museum card.

bus paris cdg tour eiffel

Stop 2: Old Paris – From Ch. de Gualle-Etoile take 1 metro line toward Chateau de Vincennes to the Chatelet stop. Get off at the Chatelet stop and take the Place du Chatelet exit (sortie) 16, from the metro.

bus paris cdg tour eiffel

You’ll know that you have the right exit if, when you get out of the metro and turn around, you face a large fountain.

bus paris cdg tour eiffel

Go past the fountain and cross the bridge (the Pont au Change) this will put you on the Boulevard du Palais. If you are interested in the French Revolution, you can stop at the Conciergerie – this is on the right side of the street. The Conciergerie is where Marie Antionette spent her last days before she was guillotined and is covered by the museum card.

bus paris cdg tour eiffel

Once you are done at the Conciergerie, go back onto Boulevard du Palais and continue on past the Ministry of Justice building (with police standing outside) to the St. Chapelle entrance. St. Chapelle has spectacular stained glass. In the glass you can see numerous bible stories, though it may take some work to figure them out. Entrance to St. Chapelle is covered by the museum card. You can stand in line to get in without a reservation, though it is much better to get a reserved time on-line at https://tickets.monuments-nationaux.fr/fr-FR/produits-seances

bus paris cdg tour eiffel

Once you finish at St. Chapelle exit back onto Boulevard du Palais. Cross this street and walk down Rue Lutece (a pedestrian street) until it ends on Rue de la Cite. Turn right onto Rue de la Cite and walk a few yards to the main plaza. Look to your left and you will be face to face with Notre Dame Cathedral . The cathedral suffered a major fire in 2019 and so it is not open to the public (though it could be reopened as early as early 2025). However, the exterior is impressive on its own. Around the main doors you will see several statues of saints, apostles, the kings of Israel, and a unique statue of a man holding his chopped off head in his hands. This is St. Denis who was beheaded (near where Notre Dame now stands) for his belief in Christ. He then picked up his head and walked to the suburbs of Paris where he stopped and set his head down and died (or maybe re-died). At that site the French built the St. Denis Church which is the first gothic church and is where most French kings and queens are buried.

bus paris cdg tour eiffel

After visiting Notre Dame cross the Seine River on the pedestrian bridge immediately to the right of the cathedral (as you are facing the front of the Notre Dame). Follow the River to the street Place du Petit Pont where you turn left. On the way you will pass the Shakespeare Bookstore which is an English used bookstore and is where Hemingway frequently visited while he was in Paris. Follow Place du Petit Pont for a few yards to Rue de la Huchette .

bus paris cdg tour eiffel

This is a small pedestrian street. Turn right onto this street and follow through the Latin Quarter it until it ends at the Place Michel and the St. Michel metro stop. In the process of taking this short stroll you will see book vendors whose small stalls line the banks of the Seine. You will also, inevitably, be accosted by many people trying to convince you to eat in their restaurant. The Latin Quarter is famous for its dozens of small restaurants, and it can be a fun place to find a meal.

bus paris cdg tour eiffel

Stop 3: Montmartre – From the St. Michel metro stop take 4 metro line toward Porte de Clignancourt . Transfer at the Barbes Rochechouart stop to the 2 metro line in the direction of Porte Dauphine . Take this one stop to Anvers . At Anvers, exit the metro and walk up hill. Within a couple of blocks you will be able to see the church of the sacred heart on the top of Montmartre . You can either walk up the steps to the Church or you can take the Funiculaire (a sort of vertical train which requires a ticket or metro pass). The church was completed in 1914 so it is new, as far as Paris Churches go. It is free to enter and has an interesting and beautiful interior. Behind the church is an artist colony with several small shops, cafes, and artists willing to paint your portrait. This is the area of Paris where the can-can was popularized and where artists who later became famous (like Monet, Renoir and Degas) used to ply their trade.

bus paris cdg tour eiffel

Stop 4: Eiffel Tower – Descend the hill from Montmartre back to the Anvers stop. Take 2 metro line in the direction of Porte Dauphine . Transfer at the Ch. de Gualle-Etoile stop to 6 metro line in the direction of Nation . Exit at Trocadero stop. As you walk toward the river you will see the Eiffel tower (it is kind of hard to miss). This is the best spot to get a full picture of the tower. The Eiffel tower is not included in the Museum Card and there are several price choices depending how high you want to go up the tower. You can also now purchase tickets to the tower on-line at http://www.tour-eiffel.fr/en/ Unless you like waiting in endless ticket lines, this is the best way to visit the tower, but you should plan on buying these well in advance to secure your visit time.

Additional Things to do in Paris.

A following is an (incomplete) list of possibilities of things you can do in Paris.

Eiffel Tower – You can walk up this tower (about one third of the way) or take the elevator all the way to the top. Tickets are less for lower levels. Metro Stop: Trocadero (for a view across the river), Ecole Militaire. Tickets can now be purchased on-line at http://www.tour-eiffel.fr/en/

Louvre Museum – This is the largest art museum in the world and of course has the Venus de Milo, Mona Lisa, Winged Victory and tons of other things. This is covered by the museum card , but you should schedule an entrance time at https://www.louvre.fr/en/visit/hours-admission to ensure you can gt in. Metro Stop: Palais Royal/Musee du Louvre; Louvre Rivoli

Norte Dame Cathedral – You’ve seen the movie . . . this is the real thing. It took several centuries to build this and the care is shown in the art work on the statues on the outside and the stained glass on the inside (some of it dates from the middle ages, the other is relatively new). Cost: The cathedral itself is free but the tower climb (where one can see the gargoyles) costs is covered by the museum card. (Though this is all closed until at least late 2024). Metro Stop: Cite

Saint Chapelle – This church has some of the finest stained glass in the world. This is covered by the Museum Card but you should schedule an entrance time. Metro Stop: Cite

Montmartre – This is the site of an old Pagen alter (it used to be outside the city limits). Now it has the church of the holy heart (Sacre Coeur) and is a hangout for artists. Cost: There is a fee to climb the church tower but the Church itself is free Metro Stop: Anvers

Latin Quarter – Across the River from Notre Dame. It is the location of the Sorbonne University and it gets its name from the many students who lived in the area in the middle ages (and were learning Latin). It has many small shops and restaurants. Metro Stop: St. Michel

Arc of Triumph – Napoleon commissioned this arc to commemorate his victory over the Austrians at Austerlitz (like the subway stop). It was not completed until after he died. Hitler had his troops march under it when he captured Paris and the Americans did likewise when they liberated Paris. Covered by the Museum Card Metro Stop: Charles de Gaulle Etoile

Champs-Elysees – Paris’s main street. It is fun to walk down if you are looking for upscale department stores, auto dealerships, and café’s. Walk into the middle of the road (at a crosswalk) for the best view of the Arc d’Triumph. Metro Stop: Charles de Gaulle Etoile (west end); George V (middle); Franklin D. Roosevelt (east end)

Pompidou Museum – For far out art, this is the place the visit. The building’s guts – like its heating ducts – are on the outside, giving the place a unique vibe before one even enters. It is also very close to the LDS church complex which is in a 17 th century building on Rue Saint- Merri. Covered by the museum card Metro Stop: Rambuteau

Orsay Museum – This is probably the world’s finest collection of Impressionist Art. Located in an old train station, a short walk from the Solferino metro stop. Covered by the Museum Card Metro Stop: Solferino

Les Invalides/Musee de l’Armee – This is the French Military Museum as well as Napoleon’s Tomb. Covered by the Museum Card . Metro Stop: Tour Maubourg or Varennes

Rodin Museum – Dedicated to the famous sculptor of The Kiss and other works. Covered by Museum Card . Metro Stop: Varennes

Catacombs – For a creepy view of Paris this is worth a visit, though it is mostly just bones. Not covered by the museum card and is closed on Monday. Metro Stop: Denfert-Rochereau

Versailles – The old royal residence on the outskirts of Paris. This is an extraordinary Palace with beautiful gardens. Covered by the museum card , though you should schedule an entrance time on-line. Metro Stop: In order to get to Versailles you will need to take the RER - C train which can be caught at the following RER stations: Gare d’Austerlitz, St. Michel, Musee d’Orsay, Invalides, Pont de l’Alma, and Champ de Mars. Take the trains called Vick (which end at the Versailles R.G. station) or any train going through Versailles (just be sure to get off at the Versailles R.G. station and not the Versailles C.H. Station). The palace is about a ten minute walk from the Versailles R.G. station (leave the station and then go left up the main boulevard).

Euro Disney – Les Mickey Mouse Need I say More? Metro Stop: Take the RER line A-4 to Marne-la-Vallee. This can be caught at the Ch. de Gualle-Etoile, Auber, Chalet, and Gare de Lyon stations. Entrance to the park is tres expensive. Though what else would one expect from Disney.

Moscow: City Sightseeing by Car/Bus

Visiting a new city is akin to going on a first date, it is something you will never forget. Many people imagine Moscow as just a bunch of sporadic landmarks: Red Square, the Kremlin, Lenin’s Mausoleum and GUM. There is so much more to this wonderful city than that and even though we only have a few hours, we will do all we can to show you everything we know and love about our capital in one fell swoop. We will take you on a journey through the ages, from centuries ago, right up to the modern day, soaking in the sights of this vast and bustling metropolis. Bright, luxurious and both ancient and modern at the same time, Moscow invites you on a date you’ll never forget!

On our sightseeing bus tour of the city, you will see:

  • The wonderfully historic city centre and its unique museums, magnificent cathedrals, the exquisite Chambers of the Romanov Boyars and of course, the famous towering red brick walls of the Kremlin, The charming beauty of the Alexander Garden awaits the capital's guests - a lush green oasis in the midst of the glass and concrete clad metropolis, basking in the etherial aura emanating from the whitewashed stone walls of the restored Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the world- renowned fairytale onion domes of St. Basil's Cathedral and other impressive monumental buildings such as the library built in Lenin's honour - the Russian State Library - and the State Duma.
  • The Lubyanka KGB headquarters is notorious to members of older generations and although nowadays, the face of the secret police has changed dramatically, the looming enigmatic building on the waterfront maintains its aura of mystery, shrouded in a variety of murky rumours and dark myths. Then, there’s another of Moscow's main attractions - the marvellous Bolshoi Theatre, yew simply cant leave Moscow without taking in its breathtaking architecture. Engrained in the fabric of Russia's cultural heritage, virtuoso performers such as prima ballerina Galina Ulanova, opera singer Feodor Chaliapin and pianist, composer and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff once stood centre stage of this vaunted institution.
  • The memorial complex on Poklonnaya Hill was constructed in the glory and honour of our heroes who defended our nation in the many crucial battles of the Great Patriotic War (WWII). This is a place that embodies a particularly acute and inextricable link between older ancf younger generations. Moving on to the Moscow International Business Centre, not dubbed ‘Moscow City' for nothing, a true glimpse of the future in the present. This incredible, rather jaw-dropping project in the capital has shown that Moscow has come to accept the age of the skyscraper. Finally, the stunning views from the observation deck at Sparrow Hills will leave professional and amateur photographers alike itching to capture them. How could one resist?
