Join us for one day of the event or all twenty-five on this self-guided tour.

Christmas Wine Affair Passport Ticket Includes:

Your Christmas Wine Affair Passport ticket works like a coupon book and offers hundreds in savings at award winning Texas Hill Country Wineries with a digital barcode ticket to be scanned once at each winery (maximum of 4 per day).

A complimentary tasting at each participating winery. Most wineries may require reservations for a tasting. All reservation info is noted in the participating wineries list. 

15% discount on 3+ bottle purchases of wine at each of the participating wineries. You may redeem your discount at each participating winery once during the event. 

Too Good of a Deal to Pass Up!

All of these benefits for a ticket price of $100/couple or $65/individual. During a regular tasting room visit, the average tasting fee is $15/person, making the total value of your passport over $750! You’ll cover the cost of your passport, couple or individual, by just visiting and tasting at 5 wineries.

Each order will include a custom barcode that serves as your Digital Christmas Wine Affair Passport ticket. This barcode will be emailed to you upon completing your purchase and will be scanned at each participating winery you visit.

Each day you can experience up to four (4) wineries, with a limit of visiting each winery once during the event. You have 26 days to enjoy multiple wineries in the beautiful Texas Wine Country.

Your Christmas Wine Affair Passport ticket gives back!

In support of Texas wine, $5 of each ticket sold goes directly to the Texas Hill Country Wine Industry Scholarship Fund.  Over the years $55,500 has been awarded to 47 Texas students working towards a degree in Viticulture, Enology and Hospitality.  To learn more about the Texas Hill Country Wine Industry Scholarship program, click here .

Each of our association wineries has its own personality, terroir and style of winemaking, yet they all share a commitment 
to quality, hospitality and a fervent passion for their craft.

Top Questions

Couples tickets are good for ANY TWO people (husband/wife, sisters, mother/daughter, friends, etc).  Couples receive TWO tastings, both people must be present together for the couples tastings (ie: one can not receive tastings on the first day of the event and the other person on another day of the event at the same winery). Individual tickets are for ONE person, you will receive ONE tasting at each participating winery.

The tickets are transferable so it does not matter that your name is on it. When gifting, you can choose to put the receiver's name on the order info and this will put their name on the ticket.

A confirmation email will be sent to you once your purchase transaction is successful. The confirmation email will contain your ticket. You can either print, save to your phone or take a screenshot of your digital passport barcode to be scanned at each participating winery when you visit.

The event starts when individual wineries are open (usually 10-11am) and ends at closing of the wineries (5-6pm).  Please check out individual winery hours on the list of participating wineries above or on our map page.

There is NO start location - it can start wherever you would like, but keep in mind you can only visit each winery once and only four wineries per day!

This is a self-guided event so you will use your own transportation or book with a tour company. Please use a designated driver.

No, wine glasses are not included. Each winery will have wine glasses for you to use while tasting but are not included to take home. Wine glasses are for sale at each winery if you would like to purchase separately.

Christmas Wine Affair Terms + Disclosure

• Not all THCW member wineries are participating in this event, only those listed on this page.
• Your Digital Passport Barcode must be presented at each winery to receive tastings and discounts.  You will not receive tastings at the wineries without your Digital Tasting Passport Barcode. 
• Tickets are non-refundable and can not be exchanged for other THCW event tickets.  Tickets are transferable, you may give them away or sell them.
• All sales will include tax and are subject to change. 
• When using a Couples Passport, both individuals must be present for two tastings to be provided.  A Couple can be any two people. 
• Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Some wineries do not allow guests under 21.
• Valid ID is required to taste or purchase wines.
• Winery events are separate from THCW trail, additional fees may apply, please check with individual wineries for fees.
• Pets are not allowed at some wineries, please check with each winery before bringing your pet.
• For groups larger than 8, you MUST contact the wineries before your visit to let them know you are coming and when you will be arriving at least 24 hours in advance. Some wineries will NOT accept groups of more than 8 people.
• THCW Event tickets are meant for individual use, not for use in conjunction with a wine tour company who already has tasting prices set with individual Wineries for services rendered.
• Transportation is not provided with your Passport ticket. 
• Be safe. Please have a Designated Driver for your trail trips.

If a trip to Texas Hill Country is on your itinerary, you won't want to miss the opportunity to explore some of the area's excellent wineries. Numerous companies offer outings to explore the many diverse offerings.

U.S. News has compiled this list of the best Fredericksburg, Texas, wine tours using both traveler opinion and expert sentiment. Choose from full- or half-day tours and perhaps discover a new favorite wine.

Cellar Rat Wine Tours – Group Tour

Price: From $210 Duration: About 6.5 hours

On this tour, which is limited to 10 people, guides will pick you up in a passenger van from your lodging in Fredericksburg and will stop at three local wineries. You'll have lunch at a local restaurant along the way. At the conclusion of your tour, Cellar Rat will drop you back off at your Fredericksburg hotel . Travelers highly praise their tour guide, who they describe as very knowledgeable and able to tailor the tour based on wine-tasting preferences.

Tours start at 10:30 a.m. and are available daily. Tickets include tasting fees and lunch. Cellar Rat also offers private tours.

290 Wine Shuttle

Price: From $39.99 Duration: Varies

The 290 Wine Shuttle service allows groups to hop on and hop off at 17 different wineries (and one distillery) in the Texas Hill Country throughout the span of one day. You can stay as long as you like at each stop and catch the next available shuttle to go to the next winery. Tours start at the Inn on Barons Creek and visit several local favorites, including Grape Creek Vineyards, Safari Winery and Texas Wine Collective. Tourgoers say the shuttles are on time and they appreciate the convenience.

Air-conditioned shuttles run Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every 15 minutes. You'll purchase a daylong pass, but no tasting fees are included (which cost about $22 per location, on average). Children 10 and older may ride the shuttle, though they will need to pay the per person fee. The company also runs Friday and Sunday shuttles, each of which will take you to three wineries of your choice.

Majesty Tours – Sapphire Tour

Price: From $152 Duration: 5 to 6 hours

On this tour, participants will stop by three different wineries and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Fredericksburg. The tour picks up travelers from their hotels or bed-and-breakfasts around 11:30 a.m., and then allows them to taste five or six wines at each venue. You'll have time to enjoy a glass of wine, purchase bottles and enjoy your surroundings at each stop as well. Tours end between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Travelers praise this tour's drivers, describe the lunch as excellent and highly recommend the tour to future visitors.

Tours depart every day except Wednesday. The price includes tasting fees, bottles of water and lunch. The company offers a variety of other winery tours, too.

Creekstreet Wine Tours – Gold Wine Tour

Price: From $165 Duration: 5 hours

On this tour, travelers will visit three Hill Country wineries and enjoy a boxed lunch, bottled water and snacks. The tour picks travelers up at Fredericksburg hotels, and guides share information about each winery along the way. Reviewers highly recommend both the guide and the tour, saying they experienced great service and enjoyed the food.

Tours are available most days and depart at 11 a.m. If you want a more luxurious experience, you can pay a bit extra for a tour in a white limo. Creekstreet also offers a less expensive Silver Wine Tour along with a Platinum Wine Tour and a Starlight Wine Tour in the evening.

Cottonwood Wine Tours – Hill Country Aficionado

Price: From $189 Duration: 8.5 hours

If you're staying in San Antonio and want to explore the Texas wine country, this tour is for you. This tour takes travelers to four Hill Country wineries and stops for 90 minutes in Fredericksburg so guests can enjoy shopping and lunch (at your expense). Participants say they really enjoy this tour. Many comment that the guide is super knowledgeable and the wines are excellent.

Tours depart at 10 a.m., returning to San Antonio at 6:30 p.m. Tours are available daily and have a maximum of about 10 participants. Cottonwood Wine Tours has other offerings as well, including a tour that visits reservation-only establishments.

Texas Grapes Wine Tours

Price: From $110 per person Duration: 5 hours

If you'd like a customized tour of Hill Country wineries, consider Texas Grapes Wine Tours. This company personalizes your tour to three local wineries with a knowledgeable guide to accompany you aboard a stretch limousine. Reviewers highly recommend this tour, praising the guides, the wines and the service.

Tours run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can book them daily, and guides pick you up from your accommodation. Tickets include a wine glass, bottled water and snacks. Lunch and tasting fees cost extra.

Texas Wine Tours – 3 Winery Tour

Price: From $179 Duration: 3 to 4 hours

Texas Wine Tours will pick you up at your Fredericksburg accommodation or the city's visitor center and take you to three local wineries in a comfortable coach. Reviewers recommend this tour, citing great guides, top-notch service and a varied winery selection.

Trips depart about 1 p.m. daily. Taxes and a 20% gratuity for your guide are included in your ticket fee. The company also offers a tour of breweries and a winery tour with lunch, as well as a bachelorette tour.

I had no idea that wine country in Texas was so amazing! The wines are really good and the people are down to earth and friendly. Hiring a driver was awesome because I had no idea where to go, wasn't familiar with the area and everyone that wanted to go also wanted to drink. It made for a safe and worry free day. We had been on a wine tour with Wine Tour Pros at their other location in Napa and loved it. They told us about Texas wine country and we knew we had to check it out. They are really different from each other as expected and enjoyable in different ways. The Texas Wine Collective is one place we went where you could taste a great variety of wines. Hye Meadow Winery was our favorite stop of the day. The wines are fantastic and the chill vibe and attentive staff made us feel special during out visit. They had a lot of local there too which is a good sign. They have great sandwiches and cheese boards too. Our driver made sure we stayed hydrated with waters and made great conversation about the area. It's surprising how much development is happening in the Fredericksburg area. Really cool stuff going on and it's really up and coming. I will definitely go back again to explore more vineyards.

The Christmas season in Fredericksburg officially kicks off with the Light the Night Christmas Parade.

This much-anticipated event features several floats adorned with twinkling lights, holiday music, and of course, Santa Claus himself!

You can also see marching bands and Christmas carolers adding to the festive vibes of the parade.

The parade starts at 6:30 pm on the first Friday in December and runs through historic downtown Fredericksburg.

See the German Christmas Pyramid in downtown Fredericksburg

In the center of town, you’ll find a 26-foot tall German Christmas Pyramid.

This beautiful structure was handcrafted in Germany.

It is adorned with hand-carved wooden figurines that tell the story of the nativity scene.

The pyramid is illuminated with over 1,000 lights and its spinning is sure to dazzle visitors of all ages.

We travel throughout the Texas Hill Country region for inspiring vistas and visits to beautiful wineries. We'll have opportunities for tasting the region's finest wines at the many tasting rooms in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

All of our Trolley tours will include an opportunity to tour a vineyard or a barrel room tasting or tour a production facility.

RIDE IN STYLE & COMFORT

We may use the beautiful Sapphire 13-passenger luxury coach instead of the Trolley depending on weather or total daily participation.

We must have at least 6 total daily participants to conduct a tour. No food or open beverage is permitted on our vehicles other than the water we provide to our guests.

All of our vehicles are air-conditioned and heated for your comfort. We can pick up at your location for an additional fee and with pre-arranged pickup times. Tasting fees and lunch are included. Gratuity suggested for Driver/Host.

Immerse yourself in the joyous sounds of festive caroling that fills the air. Join in the countdown leading to the spectacular lighting of Marktplatz, igniting the night with a brilliant display. Meanwhile, children can play and frolic, surrounded by enchanting Christmas displays that add a touch of wonder to this joyous celebration.

Weihnachtspyramide: The German Christmas Pyramid

Standing proudly in the Marketplatz each holiday season is a 26-foot traditional wooden structure adorned with spinning tiers and festive decorations. This captivating display serves as a lasting tribute to Fredericksburg’s rich German heritage, encapsulating the spirit of the season with its enchanting presence. It becomes a focal point, inviting both locals and visitors alike to marvel at the cultural and festive significance it brings to the heart of the town during the holidays.

Light the Night Christmas Parade

First Friday in December @ 6:30pm | Fun and festive, this night parade has over 150 entries and decorated floats running along historic Main Street. The streets are bedecked with twinkling lights and decorations along the parade route.

Bring folding chairs, cozy blankets and stake out your spot along Main Street. Most of the shops, tasting rooms, and eateries stay open late. You can grab hot cider, hot cocoa, snacks, and get tumblers of wine to-go from wineries to enjoy during the parade. (public consumption is legal) After the parade, head over to the Peppermint Platz for FREE pictures and hot cocoa with Santa & Mrs. Claus.

EISBAHN OUTDOOR ICE SKATING

Mid-November thru January 3   | www.eisbahntx.com   | Kinder Halle Pavilion | Glide into the holiday with the exhilarating experience of skating on real ice! Singing Christmas Tree

First weekend in December 6:30pm-7:30pm | @pioneermuseumfbg | Immerse yourself in an enchanting concert featuring a towering 30-foot Christmas tree adorned with festive decorations and live choir! Celestial harmonies fill the air with the timeless melodies of traditional Christmas carols and hymns. Join us for an evening of enchantment beneath the shimmering branches of this magnificent Christmas tree.

Annual LBJ Tree Lighting

Mid December 17th | The Tree lighting is a cherished tradition that originated with President Lyndon B. Johnson & his wife. Step back in time, to a simpler time, and experience holiday carolers, German cookies, a live nativity scene, music, a visit from Santa Claus, a lantern lit path and the dazzling tree lighting. No reservations are required, it is a free event.

Experience the enchantment as Historic Main Street transforms into a festive wonderland, adorned with lights & decorations. Immerse yourself in the spirit of Christmas as you explore the many stores, offering special holiday-themed items that add to the seasonal charm. On weekends, the magic lingers longer, with shops, wineries, and eateries extending their hours. Shops embrace the warmth of the season, and offer small bites with a cup of Glühwein, a German spiced mulled wine, adding a touch of tradition to your holiday shopping and creating a delightful atmosphere of merriment and cheer.

During the holidays many wineries & vineyards feature special wine releases, discounted wine packages & cases, holiday food pairings or gourmet treats that complement the wine. Many celebrate with themed Christmas events, and there are also holiday wine tours available.

Pioneer Museum Christmas Home Tour & Christmas Market

@pioneermuseumfbg | This self-guided tour showcases historic Fredericksburg homes decorated for the holidays. Participants will receive a booklet with a tour map and information about each featured home. There is a special pre-party the night before the Christmas Market, where you can first look at merchandise, shopping, champagne and appetizers.
