Watch out for clippers quay travel

Just returned from 4 days in disneyland , the park was great , Some Tips Firstly DONT BOOK WITH CLIPPERS QUAY TRAVEL, we booked with them for ourselves and our family, when the tickets arrived we were minus a ticket and transfer , we contacted them to tell them this and they claimed we cancelled a ticket , after a very heated argument with some office prat , they said that they would not send these out . i sent then 3 emails and 2 letters with no reply., so one of the party was unable to travel. whilst we were away we recieved a registed letter with the missing ticket and transfer - TOO LATE -posted the day before we left- THIS IS NOW BEING PASSED TO THE SOLICITORS - BEAWARE - THEY MAY BE CHEAP -BUT ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY YOUR ON YOUR OWN AND THERE ATTITUDE IS DISGUSTING. On a better side the holiday was great Saturday had a marked increase in numbers of people visiting , wait times went from @ 10 mins to 75 on rides because of the sheer numbers,so steer away from weekends if you can food is mustly fast food , even at the better establisments there was no evidence of France being home to good cooking, if you have any fussy eaters this could be a problem, cost at the fast food places was about 8 euros , yes there is a MC donalds for those that carnt live without them , Food at the better eating place ranged from @ 30 euros for a two course meal , Planet Holliwood food was reasonable both in cost and taste. The French can be very ignorant at times , we were struggling of the bus with the granddaughter in a buggy as they tried to push on to the free bus, after a shoved the buggy in one mans face and announced that if he didnt move out of the way , i was going to run him down , he finnaly got the message. The granddaughter loved breakfast with the characters this was very worthwhile , if you want dinner with the princesses i would advice booking it here prior to going as places are limited. Buggy's can be hired in disney , but these have to be left in the park on leaving and have no rain covers , i would advise taking a lightwieght buggy if you have small children. The new stitch interactive show is good if you have small kids , Stitch is annimated and actually talked to the kids in the audience , obviously there is some hidden camera somewhere so the person can identify people in the audience and interact with them. We were were there for four days in total including flights out ,this was plenty of time to cover the park and do most rides . No its not as big as the american parks and we dont really get the weather they do in america , however it is cheaper and you can go for just a couple of days , cost is in the hundreds not thousands and its just as magical for the small kids . Have a Great time and remember avoid CLIPPER QUAYS TRAVEL atleast until they employ some sort of a customer service ethic. regards Jim

Staying at Disneyland Paris in a Campervan and doing it on a low budget. !! We have just returned from Disneyland Paris. Having 3 days from 4th March 2008 We live in France 5 hours south of Disney.I am writing this as it may help others as I could find virtually no upto date info on Campervans at Disney. Plus the info I was given over the phone was incorrect. We have a 3 year and an almost 5 year old and would highly recommend disney at this age, the magic is still there. We went in a fairly quite week as although some of France was on half term, the french half terms are split into 3 and staggered. The weather was very cold , almost too cold, which kept quite alot away. I was told over the phone that there were facilities such as electricity for the campervan. On arrival that all changed about 6 months ago. No one thought to tell the people who take the calls !. You pay 13 Euros per 24 hrs but ! it's from midnight to midnight. So like us no point paying 13 Euros if you arrive at 10pm. So we stopped outside the entrance and went in at 7.30 am the following morning. There is no electricity for you to plug into , but there are toilets and showers which were very clean. We bought an annual passport as we were in no rush. As our accomodation was only 13 Eoros a night !. This was a bit confusing , not what they told me on the phone but all in all you buy a day pass for 57 Euros and tell them you want an annual passport. Then during the day you go to the annual passport desk. Long Queue and they give you a difinative passport card with your photo on that they take. You must !! have some i.d on you. So you pay the top up the difference between 57 Euros and 129 Euros. For that you get access for 335 days a year !!. The kids were both given annual passports free !! as they were under 7. Which was a very pleasant surprise as we were expecting to pay 4 x 129 Euros. So all in all a very cheap way of doing it. We stayed 3 full days as it was quiet, we got loads done but plan to return in the year. We took sandwhiches with us for lunch , although they check your bags, food is allowed , so I took snacks and drinks too. although pic nics are supposed to be in a certain area we ate our sandwhiches on the move. We had dinner in the campervan. keeping it all very low budget, which was the only way we could do it. When we return we will only pay 13 Euros for the campervan per night. The passport also gives you free parking for a car by the way and 10 % discounts in the shops and restaurants. We loved disney , the staff were very friendly maybe as although we are English we all speak very good French . I will point out that there is a cheaper annual passport which is 89 Euros but when we tried to get that one they said fine but you can not use it for the next two days !!, which I felt was a bit of a con as it only said this in tiny letters in the small print. Sorry to have made this so long , hope it helps someone.

Firstly our hotel (Holiday Inn) and flight (Easyjet) were great value but transport from the airport was a shocking 94 euros for a family of four, just one way in 2nd class. It took just 11 mins from CDG to Disney on the TVR high-speed train so that works out around 8.5 euros per minute. What a disgrace! I will never complain about British Rail ever again! Taxi drivers ripped us off too, they either left the meter off and charged what they liked or whatever it said on the meter, they added on an extra couple of euros cos there were 'four of us'! We took taxis to the nearby Val D'Europe shopping center which was very good but avoid the outlet malls as they are very very expensive. Loved the theme parks but the whole experience is not a patch on the USA and Japanese versions. Don't get me wrong, we did enjoy our weekend and I'm not tight or miserable but I hate to be ripped off and that was what this trip was all about from start to finish. Disney studios is much smaller than the Disneyland Park so choose to do this one if you have less time in the day (or are tired!). The rides are great but not many with the fastpass facility. The shops are dear (as always) but my daughter bought the mickey ears at the Disney shop in Newcastle before we went for £3 - the same in the park were 10 euros. DISNEY VILLAGE f you want to see premiership football while you're there, it will be on the screens at the sports bar in the Disney Village but you will pay 6.80 euros a pint. Between 7-9 euros a pint in the restaurants and hotels. 110 euros for a family meal for four in the Rainforest cafe - it was lovely but that was without any starters or desserts. All in all we had a good time but there's not a cat in hell's chance of me going back! I will stick with Florida thank you very much, especially as there are a lot less French people there.

Me, my wife and 2 kids aged 5 and 2 went from weds 12th march to saturday 15th march and we had a great time. The only drawback are the French visitors. I could swear but this website would probably remove this review. Numerous occasions you would queue up with your kids to get a photo with their favourite characters only for some french parent to push their kid in front. It did make me mad but didn't ruin my holiday as most of the rides were brilliant. Best thing to do is plan your day ahead. Head for the most popular rides early on as they get really busy later on. If you are staying in one of the parks hotels make use of the magic hours as they are a god send especially if you have young children as all the rides for little kids are open before everyone else gets in. We went on Buzz and all the rides in fantasy land in the magic hours slot which was great!! Like previous reviews have said the parades are a must and fantastic for the kids. But like I said before beware the french who always try to push you out the way for the best spots. Alot of the new rides are great Best Rides Tower of Terror (fantastic ride, highly recommended!!) Buzz Lightyear (great for all the family) Rock n Roller Coaster (Aerosmith in your ear all the way through is a real adrenaline rush) Best Shows Animagique (had to see it twice and you'll hum the song for weeks) Moteurs Stunt Show (great for all the family but very loud for small children who may get scared) Stitch Live (Got lucky on this one as the map says it's not open until 20th March but was told by a fellow Brit it was open. Fantastic for all the family) Cinemagique (great fun with Martin Short) Legend of the Lion King (great for all the family. The bongo playing at the beginning is great) Most overrated rides Studio Tram Tour (boring seeing old film props. The only good bit was catastrophe canyon which lasted a couple of minutes. Was always breaking down when we were there. Best in view in the front 2 carraiges) Star Tours (huge dissapointment for me as I love Star Wars. Was like a simulator you find in a shopping centre) Alot of the restaurants and bars are really expensive but are great on entertainment and I found the food really nice. Be prepared though as if you like a pint like me you'll be forking out 6.80 euros (about 5 quid)!! Best restaurants Cafe Mickey (a real must. Disney characters come and play with the kids while eating. My son had his head licked by Pluto while he was eating his pasta. Was really funny) Annettes Diner (50's american diner. Burgers were great)

We (me, my hubby and 4 yr old daughter) have just come back from Disneyland Paris. We enjoyed it but it was expensive!!! We stayed at Hotel Cheyenne which was brilliant because it was like being in a Wild West town. All the accommodation was in different buildings so not too noisy and the rooms were very comfortable. I was unhappy with the price of food and drinks there especially as a lot of it wasn't very nice. Friends had told me that it was expensive but i was still shocked by what they charged there. Anyway here are some tips for having a good but cheaper time there. They are things that I was told before I went and proved to be useful. 1. Definitely go mid week - We went from Wed to Sat and we managed to do all the things we wanted to during the week. By Sat it was really, really busy. Tues is supposed to be the quietest day there. 2. Have your breakfast in the park rather than the hotel as you are nearer the rides etc and you get more varied food choices. You can get to go on some of the rides before the park opens at 10am. 3. Take plenty of snacks and drinks with you. There are no supermarkets there so it is either eat their food or nothing. 4. Take disney clothes/toys with you. Disney store in UK is much cheaper than the parks but then they do have more variety there. 5. The Parades are a must - i think my daugher loved them the most. Our favourites were Cinemagique (walt disney studios) and Pirates of Caribbean ride. 6. It is a good idea to get the map and schedule at the entrance to both sites and plan what you will be doing especially if you are limited for time. 7. Try to avoid eating places at busy times e.g. after the parades - 2pm (Walt Disney studios), 4.30pm and 7.15pm as they are really, really busy then. 8. Be prepared - there is lots of walking - so we used the hotel bus to get us to and from the park. Go and have lots of fun there and take plenty of cash with you!

We were there just for one day, but it was magnificent day. Even, one day there is too less to feel it as it deserves. Don't waste your time on eating, you have next to park willige to do that after closeing time. The only tip is don't go on weekends. It's too croweded. We was waiting over 60 minutes for some rides. Try to get fast pass. If you have any doubt as I had, GO THERE, you wan't regret.

Hi Abbi02. I booked through Clippers Quay last year because they were significantly cheaper than anyone else. We had no problems. I contacted them a few days after booking and asked if I could add things and they said yes, but to do it all in one go and wait until the final payments so I would only be charged 1 admin fee. They called me when the final payment was due and there were no problems at all with any aspect of our booking.

Oops! Sorry I missed your post about your complaint. Sorry you had problems and I hope your complaint gets resolved.

Stupid phone - can't figure out how to delete posts!

Anne - you can't delete your post on iphone. I noticed that the other day! You can't see the top questions lists either.

Sorry to hear you are having a bad experience Emily. If comparing Disney package prices I would be inclined to look at World Travellers instead, as many of our posters from the UK and Overseas have used them for cheaper prices with very positive feedback. They certainly quoted me a cheaper price when I phoned them, including for the Eurostar, and the lady I spoke with was very friendly and efficient.

You can avoid paying a bank or credit card charge when booking with Disney by sending them a cheque instead, but the downside is that your booking will not be confirmed until they receive the cheque.

If you book with Disney through a Travel Agent they don't usually charge for paying with a bank debit card. (only a % if by credit card), and you just pay a deposit, the same as when booking with Disney over the phone.

Do not use clippers quay, their costumer service is shocking, they have no interest in rectifying issues and they do not disclose a breakdown of what your paying, they hide booking fees and surcharges without telling you and are extremely rude.

Working with Michelle , Donna and the team at Quay Travel makes a huge difference in me being able to do what I do on the road  knowing everything associated with my business trips is taken care of. And when something goes wrong as it inevitably does in this post Covid world – they will find a way to fix it 24X7. They have been my travel superheroes for nearly 20 years and even in todays online, digital and AI world which I live and breathe on a daily basis - their personal touch makes a huge difference.

Ros & Alex Mckenzie Bali

I wanted to take a moment to thank you both for the service provided to me this year by the team at Quay with my travels. It is now over a month since I returned from our incredible girl’s trip to Bali, and I can assure you both that it still feels as though it was pinch-me perfect.  Both Four Seasons properties were off the scale amazing, with dream-like experiences, and such warm service from the staff there. I also wanted to say thank you for working behind the scenes to rearrange things on the ground in Bali when our flights were rescheduled. It was such a weight off to know that the ever-dependable Michelle Sutton would be moving the arrangements around so that everything worked out, and of course it did.

Just a quick thank you for sorting everything we needed for this trip – great advice, especially where not to spend too much time around Puglia. Hotels were awesome, perfect and quiet after long days exploring! Looking forward to next years adventures

Hello Cindy, It has taken us a while to "come back down to earth" & normal routine after our wonderful holiday in Italy. It was amazing to experience all the wonders Italy has to offer - the History, Art, Architecture, Landscape,  Food & Wine etc. etc.  Thanks to you our travel plans went without a hitch, and we were very happy with everything. All the hotels were extremely good & well located with friendly helpful staff - our best room was at  Risorgimento Resort in Lecce.

THANKYOU for everything that you organised for us to make our holiday the "trip of a Lifetime"

We would not hesitate to use Quay Travel  again the future  , and it was a pleasure to meet & deal with you.

Robyn and Paul Smith USA 23

Just to let you know we had a fantastic 3 weeks holiday in the US. Thank you so much for your help with all the bookings. Everything worked really well. Hotels were great and what we expected, Train and flight also easy.

Many thanks. Until next trip……..

We just got home yesterday.  WHAT a fabulous trip!  It was gorgeous, we caught up with a multitude of my family in beautiful Canada.  New York, New York was Amazing.

THANK YOU for your invaluable help to organise it all, and then to sort out the accommodation fiasco in New York.

Given we had to cancel our credit cards, we would have been really stuck.  So we very much appreciated your experience and speed in sorting it all out for us.

We are long time clients of Quay Travel and have always appreciated their attention to detail and the way they take our needs into account when planning our travel. In recent years we have been going to more off the beaten track locations and Quay Travel take so much of the hassle out of figuring out our schedules and logistics.

Coming home from our most recent trip we had the value of Quay Travel reinforced. We were on the runway on a plane bound from Boston to Chicago to make our Chicago Auckland connection when the steward cheerfully announced that the flight was cancelled. There was a panic while everyone rushed to leave the plane and re-organize their plans. I called Quay immediately and they were able to route us through Houston to Auckland. While we were in the air the staff at Quay sorted our connection and even managed to keep our upgrades to Business. If we had waited at the United help desk we would still be in Boston roaming around like lost souls. Travel agents are great when things are good but they are essential when there is any little hiccup!

We had a wonderful experience booking our 5 week trip to Europe with Cindy. She secured us excellent fares, recommended great hotels, booked connecting flights across Europe, organized tours and airport transfers. Everything worked like clockwork. Cindy is just fabulous, she’s friendly, efficient, and her vast experience in the travel industry ensures you travel totally hassle free. We will definitely be planning our next trip with her.

clippers quay travel

For the second time in as many months using a travel agent has proven to be a glorious experience. Half an hour before getting in an uber for the first of three flights to Europe we got an email from the airline running the second flight that there would be a 10 hour delay. This meant we would need to overnight in Hong Kong and miss our final connection. I called Quay as soon as I saw the email and with some wizardry and magic Cindy immediately booked us on a different flight via a different route that allowed us to meet our connections and bonus the flight left later so there was no panic. Using Quay as our travel agents improves the travel experience exponentially.

Quay Travel saves the day -again!

Lisa at Quay Travel was awesome to work with when we were organising our trip to the USA.  However, she and the Quay Travel team really came into their own when we had a series of flight disruptions.  They swung into action and organised us short notice accommodation, sorted out our flights and did all this quickly so we could carry on with our trip.

They are wonderful to work with and really look after us.

Thought I would drop you a line to tell you how much we loved the Belmond Napa Sai. It was the PERFECT solution for us. Beautiful balance of kids and sophistication. Smart but not overly expensive / pricey. We had great weather and certainly got our summer fix. Kids met a bundle of other kids and there were lots of activities on offer which was ideal. You did a great job recommending this for us.

Other than my bungle on our first flight everything else was straight forward and super easy. So your expertise on putting this all together for us was massively appreciated.

I look forward to coming back to you for the next vacay!

Quay Travel have organised several special family holidays for us now as well as smaller trips for myself. They are extremely professional, friendly and communicate effectively and in a timely manner. Lisa is amazing at offering suggestions and options for both places to visit and hotels.

Last year while in Europe, we contracted coved and were unable to board our cruise at the port of departure. Lisa gave exceptional service, taking calls at all hours and organising alternative flights and accommodation, plus handling our family’s stress and anxiety with great patience!

I highly recommend Quay Travel to anyone wanting to plan that special holiday.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

By Claudia Looi 2 Comments

Komsomolskaya metro station

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.
