El Nido’s Big Lagoon is a stunning natural wonder surrounded by towering limestone cliffs , making it the most photographed attraction in Bacuit Bay. If you’re planning a trip to El Nido, the Big Lagoon is a must-visit destination that should not be missed.
Access to the Big Lagoon is via a shallow but large channel, which can accommodate several outrigger boats at the same time. During low tide, visitors can walk or kayak through the channel. Once inside the lagoon, visitors can enjoy a natural swimming hole with emerald green waters, surrounded by massive and towering karst walls.
It’s important to note that access to the Big Lagoon is limited to a certain number of visitors per day. To secure your slot to the Big Lagoon, it’s recommended to Book Tour A in advance.
Secret Lagoon
The Secret Lagoon of Miniloc Island may not be a secret anymore, but it remains one of the most popular attractions in El Nido. Concealed behind karst limestone cliffs , the Secret Lagoon offers a hidden world waiting to be explored.
To access the Secret Lagoon, visitors must scramble or swim through a tiny crevice on the rock’s face, depending on the tide. Once inside, visitors are treated to stunning views of emerald shallow waters and unique rock formations that make for perfect photo opportunities.
Shimizu Island
Shimizu Island is renowned for being one of the top snorkeling spots in El Nido, thanks to the diverse range of corals and marine life that can be found here. With its towering limestone rock walls and pristine white sandy beach, Shimizu Island is the perfect place to stop for a picnic lunch during your island-hopping adventure.
Named after a Japanese diver who lost his life while exploring an underwater cave here, Shimizu Island has become a popular stopover for boats doing the Tour A circuit around Miniloc Island.
7 Commandos Beach
Seven Commandos Beach is the ultimate beach paradise in El Nido, with its high cliffs sheltering the whitest sand and crystal-clear water that you can imagine. The sunsets here are breathtaking and are not to be missed.
Although this isolated beach is located on the mainland, it can only be accessed by boat due to the mountainous terrain. It has become a popular stop on island hopping Tour A , and is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to El Nido.
Named after a stranded fishing vessel, Seven Commandos Beach has a fascinating history. When the vessel was repaired and left the beach, locals discovered a huge stone engraved with the words “7 Commandos,” which they believed was the name of the vessel

El nido tour b.
- Attractions: Snake Island Sandbar, Cudugnon and Cathedral Caves, Entaluala Island and Popolkan Island
- Tour B is offered daily and can be booked as a shared or private boat tour
Snake Island
Snake Island, also known as Vigan Island, is one of the must-visit destinations on El Nido’s Island Hopping Tour B. The island gets its name from its S-shaped sandbar , which connects it to the mainland.
The unique shape of the sandbar allows visitors to walk through it during low tide, making for a memorable experience. You can also splash around in the shallow waters on both sides of the sandbar.
For those who love a good hike, Snake Island also offers a trek to a stunning viewing point at the top. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the white sand stretching out like a long tongue, winding its way along the island.
Cudugnon Cave
Cudugnon Cave is another popular attraction on Island Hopping Tour B in El Nido. This cave is believed to have been a burial site during the Neolithic period, and artifacts and human bones have been discovered inside.
To enter the cave, you’ll need to squeeze through a small rocky hole, but once inside, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking rock formations and high ceilings. The cave roof’s crevices are home to swiftlets (known as Balinsasayaw) and bats.
Just a few steps away from the cave’s entrance, you’ll find a secluded white sand beach where you can relax in a peaceful environment after exploring the cave.
Cathedral Cave
El Nido is not just famous for its stunning beaches and lagoons but also boasts some amazing caves that are often overlooked by tourists. One of the most awe-inspiring caves is the Cathedral Cave, located on Pinasil Island, just a boat ride away from Cudugnon Cave.
Although it may not look impressive from afar, as you get closer, you’ll be amazed by the huge cavern with an opening even higher than the Underground River . The cave is navigable by boat and has spectacular rock formations and a high ceiling that resembles a cathedral.
The cave is also an important nesting site for the Cave Swallow, whose nests made of dried saliva are the main ingredient in the exotic bird’s nest soup.
While the crystal-clear emerald water inside the cave looks inviting, it’s too risky for swimming since it’s the habitat of venomous sea snakes.
Entalula Island
Entalula Island is a pristine and beautiful spot that offers visitors a serene and private island experience. The island’s crystal-clear waters and colorful coral reefs make it an ideal place to snorkel and discover the vibrant marine life beneath the surface. The island’s lush vegetation and rocky cliffs provide a beautiful backdrop for its pristine beaches.
Popolkan Island
Popolkan Island is a fantastic snorkeling spot that offers an excellent experience for underwater enthusiasts.

El nido tour c.
- Attractions: Matinloc Island, Secret Beach, Hidden Beach Helicopter Island and Tapiutan Island.
- Duration: 7 hours
- Tour C is offered daily and can be booked as a shared or private boat tour
Helicopter Island
Helicopter Island, also known as Dilumacad Island, is a stunning destination in Bacuit Bay. Its towering limestone cliffs covered in lush vegetation and pristine beaches are typical of the area’s stunning islands.
Helicopter Island gets its name from its cliffs’ resemblance to a helicopter’s shape when viewed from a distance, although some visitors may find it challenging to see the similarity.
The island boasts excellent snorkeling spots and underwater tunnels that advanced divers will appreciate. Besides water sports, Helicopter Island is also an ideal spot for relaxation and rejuvenation. Its 300 meters of beach is perfect for picnicking during island hopping trips or basking in the sun.
Secret Beach
The Secret Beach is a must-see attraction. Situated on the edge of Matinloc Island, Secret Beach is a pocket of fine white sand encircled by towering rock walls . Accessing the Secret Beach can be a challenge as visitors must swim through a narrow crevice in a rock wall. During rough seas, even experienced swimmers may find it difficult to enter. However, the reward for reaching this secluded location is a pristine beach with crystal-clear waters.
Local lore suggests that Alex Garland, author of the novel-turned-film The Beach, lived and wrote his bestseller in El Nido, likely inspired by the Secret Beach’s beauty. Take a visit to the Secret Beach and experience the allure that captivated Garland and countless others.
Hidden Beach
Tucked away in the nooks and crannies of the islands, the Hidden Beach is a small paradisiac cove concealed by limestone rock and impossible to see from the open sea . The beauty of this beach is created by towering limestone cliffs and mystical rock formations.
Part of El Nido’s Tour C, the Hidden Beach is a popular stop and a must-visit destination. With its white sands and crystal clear water, this beach is perfect to visit during high tide when the water is calm, making it an ideal spot to take perfect photos. To access Hidden Beach, visitors have to swim to get there, which may be challenging due to the current.
The Hidden Beach is also a great spot for snorkeling, where you can easily see various species of corals and fishes. Its secluded location provides a tranquil atmosphere, making it an excellent place to relax and unwind.
Matinloc Shrine
Matinloc Shrine, formally known as the Shrine of Our Lady of Matinloc, is a hidden abandoned site located at the foot of towering karst cliffs on the western coast of Matinloc Island in El Nido. This shrine was built in 1982 but has since been neglected and run down. Nevertheless, visitors are still permitted to visit the area and explore the ruins.
While some may consider this place as a spiritual haven, many visitors come to Matinloc Shrine for the breathtaking panoramic view it offers. To reach the viewpoint, you need to climb a small limestone hill located close to the shrine. From there, you can enjoy an awe-inspiring view of Tapiutan Island, which lies opposite Matinloc.
Located in Tapiutan Island, Star Beach is a must-visit destination that offers a breathtaking view of the neighboring Matinloc Island. This beautiful beach is known for its crystal-clear waters and white sand, making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, and even enjoying lunch.
The beach is aptly named Star Beach as it is home to numerous harmless starfishes that can be found resting on the seabed. Whether you’re an experienced snorkeler or a first-time visitor, the underwater world of Star Beach is a sight to behold.

- Tour D is offered daily and can be booked as a shared or private boat tour
- Kayak rentals are available for both the entire tour or just for the Small Lagoon
Small Lagoon
Small Lagoon, located on the picturesque Miniloc Island, is one of the most fascinating and popular destinations to explore in El Nido, Palawan. It is considered an iconic spot and is frequently photographed alongside the Big Lagoon.
To enter Small Lagoon, visitors can either swim through a small hole in a rock wall or paddle through in a kayak during low tide. Once inside, a hidden world awaits, waiting to be explored by kayaking or swimming. The crystal-clear waters of the lagoon are surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs that provide a stunning and memorable view.
Cadlao Lagoon
Cadlao Island, the largest island in El Nido’s archipelago, is a picturesque paradise that resembles a “ mini-Tahiti “. The island’s lush landscapes, including a conspicuous peak towering 640 meters above sea level, offer a breathtaking view to visitors.
One of the most spectacular natural wonders on Cadlao Island is the Cadlao Lagoon. Its emerald waters surrounded by towering limestone cliffs create a breathtaking view that will take your breath away. This lagoon also offers an excellent spot for snorkeling, where you can explore the shallow coral gardens just off the beach.
Kayaking in Cadlao Lagoon is an unforgettable experience that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the island’s natural beauty.
Pasandigan Cove
Pasandigan Cove is a hidden gem located in the stunning Cadlao Island. With its inviting stretch of white sand and bright blue waters flanked by towering limestone cliffs, it’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the pristine nature .
Unlike other crowded beaches in El Nido, Pasandigan Cove is a well off-the-beaten-track destination, allowing travelers to discover a tropical paradise without the usual crowds. It’s a great place to unwind, sunbathe, and swim in the crystal-clear waters.
Nat Nat Beach
Nat Nat Beach is a hidden gem in Cadlao Island, offering visitors a secluded paradise away from the crowds. Its soft white sand and calm turquoise waters are sheltered by sheer limestone cliffs, adding to its raw and untouched beauty.
One of the best things about Nat Nat Beach is its lack of commercialization. It’s a peaceful and unspoiled destination that few tourists know about. This means that you can have the entire beach to yourself, allowing you to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
Paradise Beach
Paradise Beach on Cadlao Island is a true tropical gem and a must-see attraction on Tour D . This secluded beach boasts powdery white sand and emerald waters, living up to its name as a true paradise.
For a truly memorable experience, kayaking is the perfect way to explore the beach and surrounding area. Alternatively, you can simply unwind with a good book or capture stunning photos of the breathtaking scenery.
With no crowds to disrupt your peace, Paradise Beach is the perfect escape for those seeking a serene and tranquil retreat.
Bucal Island
Bucal Island is a hidden gem in El Nido, boasting a small but beautiful white sand beach perfect for a relaxing getaway. This peaceful oasis is an ideal spot for a quiet picnic or a refreshing swim in its crystal-clear waters.
The island’s shallow and transparent waters are also perfect for snorkeling, offering a chance to explore the vibrant marine life teeming with colorful fishes and corals.

Embarking on an island-hopping tour in the turquoise waters of Coron is an experience like no other, and Big Dream Boat Man (BDBM) takes the exploration to the next level. In a sea of tour options, BDBM has carved out a niche for itself, offering intimate, tailor-made adventures that resonate with travelers seeking authenticity and a deeper adventure beyond the regular island-hopping day trips. In this review, we’ll dive deep into what sets Big Dream Boat Man apart, from their meticulous attention to detail and eco-conscious practices to the unparalleled beauty of their chosen spots in the breathtaking region of Coron archipelago.
Table of Contents
BIG DREAM BOAT MAN: COMPLETE GUIDE
In this blog post, I’ll detailed what Big Dream Boat Man is all about. I’ll detail why it’s WAY better than the regular island hopping day trips. My review will go on to share what it’s like on a BDBM expedition and I’ll then go through the entire itinerary with photos and descriptions from every single spot we visited. Before I get started, if you just watnt to jump straight to the Big Dream Boat Man site, these are the three main tours they offer.
(The trip I did) Coron Island Life : Skip the crowds and arrive early to visit popular spots like Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake and Twin Lagoon BEFORE the crowds arrive. Visit locations like Lusong Gunboat Wreck and Black Island that regular daytrippers can’t reach. Stay overnight at secluded islands in cabins and tents on the beach. Enjoy bonfires, drinks and a fun atmosphere.
Coron to El Nido : Visit key attractions in Coron such as Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake and Twin Lagoon before voyaging from Coron to El Nido. Stop off at secluded islands on the way where you can relax, explore and sleep in a tropical Paradise.
El Nido to Coron : The reverse trip. The best way to get to Coron and see the sights along the way. The most epic transit of your life.
WHAT IS BIG DREAM BOAT MAN?
Big Dream Boat Man is a 4-day, 3-night Coron island hopping expedition that is different from the rest. Instead of battling the crowds, the sea of life-jackets and the lines, Big Dream Boat Man takes you to the hotspots such as Kayangan Lake and Twin Lagoon before the crowds come.
It’s a locally run company, I’ve met all the staff and their families and we’ve even done cleanups together on Mount Tapyas in Coron. They’re good, genuine people.
After spending one day at the hotspots, Big Dream Boat Man veers away and guides you on an expedition to some of the hidden gems and off-the-beaten-path locations in Coron, which in my opinion were equally as impressive if not more so than the famous spots on Coron Island. We free-dived at WWII shipwrecks, camped on secluded beaches, swam with stingrays, counted the stars from the beach at night and ate like kings during our island hopping tour with Big Dream Boat Man.

In this blog post, I am going to share with you the reasons why you might want to consider a 3-night Coron expedition compared to the regular day-trip. I’ll detail the locations I visited with Big Dream Boat Man and also the other locations and tour itineraries they offer (I’ve visited those locations also).
I hope you enjoy them as much as I did and hope you enjoy your trip with Big Dream Boat Man if you choose to head out on the best Coron Island hopping tour, which will surely be the highlight of your Philippines trip.
CORON ISLAND HOPPING TOUR ITINERARY WITH BIG DREAM BOAT MAN
Below is the general itinerary you can expect on the trip (So many places to visit!) but the guides are always changing things up slightly when they find new epic spots or to avoid the crowds. These itineraries aren’t set in stone but they guys are usually flexible if there is a certain spot you REALLY want to see or stay longer they can put it to the group to see if it can work out.
The reality is that you get to visit SO MANY awesome spots in just four days because you don’t waste time transiting to and from the mainland each day and there’s no need to battle the crowds. Just look at the infographic I made below and you can see that we visited 17 different spots on our 3-day, 4-night Coron Island Life with Big Dream Boat Man.
BIG DREAM BOAT MAN EXPEDITION vs ISLAND HOPPING DAY TRIP
As you walk around Coron Town you will see posters and promotions everywhere for the island-hopping tours such as the Ultimate Coron Island Hopping Trip . I won’t lie, these day tours are still incredible. I’ve done more than five day trips in Coron because you don’t always have four days to explore and it is significantly cheaper at around $40-$100 depending on which tour your select. However, these tours are marketed to the masses and all follow the same itinerary. It can be a bit chaotic, touristic and in some cases a bit of a let down as it just gets so busy and crowded. If you are short on time and on a budget, just hit this link and book the tour and you will have a GREAT day: Coron Island Hopping Trip .
However, if you have a few days to spare and enjoy avoiding the crowds, group trip atmosphere, bonfires at night, activities, games and secluded beaches and lagoons…. don’t book that daytrip just yet. There is an alternative to regular tours.
Big Dream Boat Man recognized that there were a lot of people looking to avoid the crowds at the hotspots and also see some quieter but equally epic locations. They decided to create an alternative itinerary that avoids the crowds at the hotspots by visiting early in the morning or in off-peak times and exploring other locations that aren’t even on the radar for the regular tours.
The cost of the tour is of course much more than the regular 8-hour day trip but for about $500 USD as of 2023. Everything is included from your 3 nights of accommodation, all meals, equipment. The vibes are unreal and I honestly came back at the end of the trip feeling so alive and stoked about our adventure. I’ve traveled a lot and done my fair share of tours. I finished this one feeling like I’d been on one hell of an adventure and that it was worth the price.
Make an inquiry/booking: To visit the website to check the tour itineraries, costs and availability of dates you can click here: Big Dream Boat Man Website . They do book out a few weeks in advance so definitely reserve your post once you decide you want to go.
BIG DREAM BOAT MAN ITINERARY
I did my tour in March 2019 with the co-founder Krish and guide Anthony. The guys on board changed the itinerary slightly because I had already visited Kayangan and a few spots twice previously but most of the other places you can expect to see on your tour if not more.
I will add info in about Kayangan and other regular spots on the itinerary so you can know what to expect. Get ready to be blown away by just how epic Coron is. Even looking at these photos as I create this blog transports me back to this magical trip.
KAYANGAN LAKE
Kayangan Lake is by far the most popular spot on Coron Island and for good reason. You cruise into the ‘parking lot’, which in itself is an immaculate reef with crystal clear water. After parking the boat you take a short hike up the stairs to the viewpoint before clambering down the other side to reach the famous Kayangan Lake. Visiting Kayangan Lake with Big Dream Boat Man meant we were literally the only people there snorkeling as we went early in the morning!
It’s a crystal clear freshwater lake with unbelievable underwater rock formations. It’s easily one of my favorite free-dive spots in the world. Make sure you head over the left side of the lake for the epic free-dive location.

TWIN LAGOON
Twin Lagoon is a stunning pool of water hiding amongst the breathtaking cliffs. Through a small gap, you can swim under the cliff and into Twin Lagoon. Once inside the lagoon, you are surrounded in all directions by the towering, dagger-like cliffs as you float away from your worries in a private swimming pool.
SKELETON WWII SHIPWRECK SNORKEL
Something I was quite excited about was free diving at Skeleton Wreck. It’s one of the most popular things to do in Coron for free-divers. It’s a mostly intact WWII ship that found its resting place in Coron, Palawan. Thousands of fish surrounded the wreck and swarmed us as we swam.
To get down deep enough at the level of the wreck you will need to dive about 15ft but you can still get a great view from the surface. One of the guides managed to free-dive into the cabin of the ship and out of the window.
View full blog post: EXPLORING SKELETON WRECK IN CORON, PALAWAN
VIVIAN BEACH
For lunch, you can always expect a huge spread of kinds of seafood, meats, and salads with Big Dream Boat Man. Josh and I are vegetarian and the chef catered to us for the entire trip with lots of variation and hearty meals. Vivan Beach is probably the most scenic lunch spot of your life with jagged cliffs surrounding lunch huts on a tiny white sand beach.
LUSONG GUNBOAT SHIPWRECK SNORKEL
From the surface, it doesn’t look like much but as soon as you dip your head underwater, the Lusong Gun Boat from WWII will blow you away. Like many of the stops on our Big Dream Boat Man trip, we had this spot completely to ourselves as you can see in the drone photo.
This huge ship is angled perfectly for freedivers because the rear of the ship is only about 2-feet deep while the nose of the ship is more than 20-feet deep. This means all levels of free-divers and snorkelers can get an up-close look of this sunken WWII ship. Barnacles, corals, and fish have taken over the ship as their home and if you are game you can dive through the panels of the ship!
View full blog post: LUSONG GUNBOAT SHIPWRECK & LUSONG CORAL GARDEN IN CORON
CORAL GARDEN REEF SNORKEL
Just around the corner from the Lusong Gunboat shipwreck is a phenomenal snorkeling spot. Our guide Anthony described told us it would be one of the best snorkeling spots we had ever seen and we weren’t let down. Huge corals of all different colors blanketed the ocean floor before a dark drop-off invited free-divers to explore further!
BANANA ISLAND CAMPING
Banana Island is an incredibly chill spot with coconut trees lining the white sand beach. This island is hammock central and the perfect place to unwind in the shade for a siesta. This is a great island for a kayak, snorkel and swim in the beautiful warm water the Philippines if so famous for.
The South and North Cays are both prime camping spots. We camped on the north but we could see another small group with a bonfire camping on the South Cay just across the way on their own little private island. Take the kayak over from the North Cay if you are up for an exploration adventure.
NORTH CAY CAMPING
We arrived at the North Cay for the last light of the day and it was some of the best conditions I have ever had for aerial photography. It took me an hour and two batteries just to get off the boat and stop flying. What the others didn’t know is that I had just enjoyed the reef, water, and islands more than anyone with an hour-long aerial tour in the golden hour. After I pulled myself together I headed off to check out our ‘glamping situation’, which was a tent with a mattress, sheet, and pillow.
It was one of the best nights sleep I’ve had in a while as a soft breeze came through the top of the tent. There are toilet and shower facilities on the island.
Just before sunset, we took on our guides in a 2v2 basketball match and somehow squared with them at one game apiece in a game we won’t forget soon. Great fun with great people. This is what Big Dream Boat Man is all about! Sunset was spent at the viewpoint on a small hill before we ventured back to the camping area, lit a bonfire and shared some drinks under the stars.
Breakfast was served by the crew on a table and chairs on our private stretch of beach during the first light. It’s moments like these where you pinch yourself and wonder if it’s a dream. Our time on the North Cay was incredibly relaxing and a great time with the crew!
BLACK ISLAND
After packing up early at North Cay, we headed to Black Island. The water was so glassy it was reflecting like a mirror as we edged ever closer to the ominous looking Black Island. When we arrived there was only one other boat there with two people chilling in a hut. We docked the boat and I went for a flight with the drone in another unforgettable aerial session.
Looking directly down from the top of the cliff was an angle that just blew my mind as I saw the scale of the cliffs compared to our boat. We snorkeled here with some epic conditions for free-diving, amazing clarity and a wide variety of corals.
View full blog post: EXPLORING BLACK ISLAND (MALAJON ISLAND) IN CORON, PHILIPPINES
BLACK ISLAND CAVING
After our snorkel, we headed inland onto Black Island to check out the caves. The first cave was huge with at least 40-feet between floor and ceiling. Two crystal-clear pools shone as the morning light flooded into the cave.
You can swim and even cliff jump into both or simply admire the stalactites and rock formations from within the depths of the cave. We then headed down to the other end of the beach and climbed up through another cave this time emerging onto a private beach around the corner where our guides met us with snorkel guy and the SUP. We explored this area and laid out on the beach. These were dream moments, isolated in paradise.
DIBUTONAY ISLAND
Dibutonay Island was another secluded island with a great reef for snorkeling. It had one section of reef that was separated from the island and bursting with fish, marine life and unique coral. After a long morning of snorkeling, we ended up almost passing out on the beach only to be revived with a fresh coconut from the crew legends.
MALTATAYOC ISLAND
Maltatayoc Island is beautiful sandbar but we had come for the underwater world. Here we searched for and found multiple stingrays and the crew told us small black-tip sharks (not dangerous) are often spotted in this area. The snorkeling was amazing again and by this point, I was in awe at the level of reef and snorkeling spots in the region famous for its cliffs and lagoons.
PASS ISLAND OVERNIGHT
Pass Island was another camping spot on our Big Dream Boat Man Coron Island Hopping Tour . Like with North Cay, we arrived just in time for the golden hour and I enjoyed the aerial view will chilling under a coconut tree. On the island, there are a few huts where you sleep and bathroom facilities. A basketball court and sunset viewpoint are the other highlights on this tiny private island for you and the crew to enjoy.
View full blog post: PASS ISLAND IN CORON PALAWAN (OVERNIGHT STAY)
DITAYTAYAN ISLAND
On the final morning of our Coron island hopping tour expedition with Big Dream Boat Man , we headed off to Ditaytayan Island. While most boats stop at the beautiful sand bar we headed around the back side to explore the beach and what we found was a lot (I mean A LOT!) of trash. Together with the crew, we collected three huge garbage bags of trash to take back to Coron Town. It was great to see the crew pushing for this and it’s something they try and do on every trip.
We also snorkeled here in another amazing reef location before exploring the sand bar and the beaches on Ditaytayan Island.
SUNSET LAGOON AND CAVE
Our final stop was to the Sunset Lagoon and Cave. Once again we magically arrived with the perfect lighting just like the entire trip. The aerial photography here blew my mind again as I pushed the distance limits on the drone.
The lagoon is a small inlet, with towering cliffs closing in around you. We went for a paddle on the SUP before snorkeling into the incredible cave that is like a private room within the cliff once you swim inside!
That was our trip and believe it or not that was all just in a few days. I am still lost for words and struggle to explain the epic nature of Coron. The island hopping tour of Coron with Big Dream Boat Man was the best expedition to see the sights in a natural way, with good people, good vibes and lessor no crowds. I can’t recommend these guys enough and really support their vision and the ethos of the company.
If you do want to book a trip with Big Dream Boat Man I suggest doing it in advance as they do book out a few weeks ahead of time. It’s usually booked out if you only decide to book the trip when you arrive at Coron as you may do with the basic daily island hopping tours.

BEST TIME OF YEAR FOR CORON ISLAND HOPPING
The optimal time for island hopping in Coron is during the dry season, from November to May. During these months, the weather is typically favorable, with sunny skies and calm waters, making it ideal for boat travel and exploring the stunning lagoons, lakes, and beaches of the islands. While the peak tourist months of December to March offer pristine conditions, they can be crowded. To strike a balance between good weather and fewer tourists, consider the shoulder months of early November or late May.

I have been recommended to do this tour when I visit. my only question is I don't do snorkelling so will I still enjoy it
There are guides who can help you while in the water but even if you don't snorkel, it is great to see Kayangan Lake, Black Island, Pass Island and many activities that aren't snorkeling. There are a number of snorkel opportunities but you can use the kayak instead or drink beers on the boat or swim :)

Your Philippines posts are amazing. And the photography is stunning. I highly dislike crowds in nature where you're supposed to unwind and find stillness. Thanks for letting me know about this boat expedition. I'm planning a trip to the Philippines this November and I'm doing this tour in Coron for sure.

Operated by Big Dream Boatman
Big Dream Boat Man was founded by Krish and Oli in late 2016. It was born out of a frustration of the 'day trip' culture, the lack of social and eco-responsibility by other operators and the 'let's get as many tourists on a boat as we can' approach. They decided to change it up, to create a socially responsible expeditions business that would show guests the true beauty of island life, out of stuffy hotels, away from the crowds, during a true adventure. All while at the same time supporting the local community via social projects As such, BDBM was born... and we've never looked back!

What to bring, good to know.
Big Dream Boatman (BDBM) was started out of a frustration of the culture of packing uncomfortable boats with too many people. They wanted to do it differently, where adventure could be personal and comfortable. Where you could really make friends with locals and travelers and take it at your own pace, without feeling forced or squashed.
A maximum of 18 travelers joins the BDBM banka/boat and the passionate crew to make the adventure crossing exploring the remote islands of Palawan.
It's a chance to experience true island life, eating fresh food and hanging out with the crew and fellow guests. You can take the trip at your own pace. It's really up to you, if you want more or less adventure you take it as it comes - it's all good.
Come sunset you'll be stopping each night on an island to watch the magical Palawan skies before sleeping with the stars. This trip is more intense than Coron Island Life (Coron to Coron) as you have further to travel so it's ideal for those who are a bit more adventurous or those who may have less time in Palawan and want to maximize each day.
The trip starts at around 10 AM on the first day and finishes at around 5 PM on the last day.
Accommodations
The islands you will be visiting are remote so they do not have features such as hot running water or advanced sewage.
The cottages are very simple. They are built with bamboo and furnished with a simple mattress, mosquito net and fan. Some of them have multiple beds good for groups or shared with other travelers (only happens during peak season.) For shower and toilet, there is freshwater and manual flush.
You will wake up to the sounds of the sea. There's little to no electricity on the islands so the starry sky and moon are your nightlight. The islands do have enough electricity to charge your phones, most of the time (although there can be power outages).
For the camping, you will be provided with tents, small mattress, pillow and set up. Again these will be put in the sand, next to the ocean.
Big Dream Boatman has been running these expeditions for a couple of years now. It is important to set your expectation and for you to decide if you can 'rough it' for a few days.
In 2019, Krish, the Big Dream Boatman himself, was able to commission the building of two boats for this expedition. They wanted to build the most comfortable and the safest banka/boats Palawan has ever seen. And they did! With more than enough space on the upper and lower deck to chill and sunbathe, cushioned seating, and nets on the side, plus a toilet, the boat has everything we need to make the crossing! Adventure doesn't have to be uncomfortable.

El Nido: Tour A island hopping itinerary
If you’re wondering what exactly your El nido tour A island hopping itinerary will look like then keep reading. Actually it’s only in recent years that they’ve slightly changed the itinerary due to environmental concerns and regulations. So, before you go see both big and small lagoon on the same trip on Tour A, but now it only includes one of them, and I suggest you opt for big lagoon, every time!
It’s important to note that regardless of whether you choose tour A or not, all the tours now include an additional 200 pesos environmental fee which should be paid additionally. This environmental fee lasts 10 days, so you only pay it once, even if you decide to do all the island hopping tours. Just remember to hold onto your receipt/certificate for proof that you’ve already paid.
This is truly one of the most beautiful and epic places in all of Palawan . When you arrive, they set your boat up right beside the lagoon entrance so you can choose to swim there (it’s not too far), or rent a kayak and use it through the lagoon too. This is pretty cool and it’s the option we chose. It’s 250 pesos for a double kayak, and the drone shot with all the yellow kayaks against the blue water makes for an awesome shot!

Miniloc Island (secret lagoon)
So for me, the secret lagoon is not that exciting, but when we did visit, the tide hadn’t “cleaned” the area yet. Anyway, that doesn’t matter because Miniloc island is absolutely stunning and worth visiting just for that. Just be aware of the little jellyfish that infest the water. You will get little stings, but they’re not painful, just like little nips!
Shimizu Island
This is the spot for lunch and it’s awesome. It’s a beautiful little island and it’s a brilliant spot for snorkeling. So whilst your delicious Filipino BBQ lunch is being prepared you can snorkel in the water and spot clown fish (nemo!) or sunbathe on the beach. Truly amazing. Then, it’s time for a delicious lunch.
Seven Commandos Beach
This is usually your last stop on the tour and it’s a good choice...not only is the beach beautiful but there are actually one or two makeshift bars there, so you can enjoy a rum and coke for less than $2, chill on the beach and chat, or play a game of volleyball. You can also explore the beach too, but you’ll probably just want to relax! :P
El Nido Tour A: Private or group tour?
When it comes to tours, we almost always try and go private when the price isn’t ridiculous. The problem with the island hopping tours in El Nido is that there is a bigggg price jump between group and private, so it's difficult on a budget.
We opted for a group tour and honestly, it was one of the best group tours I’ve ever done. We made friends with a bunch of people, two of whom we ended up having dinner with, then arranging to meet up on another island a couple of weeks later, so that was awesome.
So, based on my experience, and our awesome tour guide, I can say that a group tour was a great option, especially if you want to make new friends and have fun.
Book your group tour here.
OR if you really want to go more private, then go with BigDreamBoatMan as it will take you off the beaten track, and they don't have more than 18 people to a tour, and it's a multi-day tour!
When is the best time to visit El Nido and do Tour A?
The best time to visit El Nido correlates with the best time to visit The Philippines in general. This is between November to May. We visited in May and the weather was perfect.
If you need help planning your El Nido itinerary, then don’t forget to check out my El Nido itinerary .
Should I book El Nido Tour A online or in person?
It doesn’t make too much difference if I’m honest with you. They are all similar prices, however you will save a little bit of money if you book online. Plus if you just like the convenience of having everything organised, then booking online helps with that too. Also, it is possible in the high season that tours book out, so again, if you book online you can help avoid disappointment.

More tips for your El Nido Island Hopping tour
- I suggest you invest in a pair of water shoes. They are super cheap and really useful for island hopping tours and all water based activities across The Philippines. When island hopping you’re walking on sand, stones, the boat, and snorkelling, your water shoes eliminate the need to switch shoes.
- You should also buy a water bag to place your important items. When you get off and on the boat, you wade through water, so the water bag will stop your items from getting wet. Again they’re cheap and you can buy them all over El Nido .
- Bring a Gopro: Brad and I misplaced our GoPro before we went to The Philippines, so I bought a last minute knock off version. What a nightmare, it was terrible quality and we missed out on some amazing snorkelling footage. We now have a GoPro again, so I’ll have to return to get more awesome snorkelling footage. Don’t make our mistake.
- Drone your heart out: The Philippines encourages the use of drones, so take full advantage because you’re going to get some EPIC shots.
So there you have it. My guide to all your need to know about El Nido Tour A. Hopefully after reading this you’ve got some insight into what the tour entails and the best time to book it. If you’ve got any questions or comments, then simply drop a comment below.
Happy travels!

El Nido to Coron 4 Days 3 Nights
"Hidden beaches and coves, private lakes and emerald lagoons, fresh native cuisine and rustic and comfortable cabins, cottages and camping are Big Dream Boatman's signature experiences. Travel with them and you'll get to know the region's hidden gems" - Lonely Planet
1. About the Expedition
A maximum of 18 guests board the BDBM banka boat with the enthusiastic crew to embark on the adventurous journey from El Nido to Coron going across and through the uninhabited islands of Palawan.
This is an opportunity to fully experience island life, develop sincere friendships with locals and tourists, and explore at your own pace without feeling like a tourist. Consume healthy food and socialize with the staff and other visitors. Travel at your own speed... For those who prefer to be more active, there will be sports like skimboarding, basketball, and beach volleyball. If you prefer to relax instead, you can read a book or go for a walk.
You'll be stopping each evening at dusk on an island to observe the sunset, tell tales, and fall asleep under the stars.
There might be bonfires, boodle fights, and karaoke.
As we have further to travel, this trip is a little more demanding than Coron Island Life (Coron to Coron), making it perfect for those who are a little more adventurous or who may only have a short amount of time in Palawan and want to make the most of every day.
2. Where do we sleep?
Every evening at sunset, we arrive on a stunning island, where you can choose to camp out under the stars or stay in a native cottage dug into the sand. Every accommodation is offered and covered in the package.
3. Who is it for?
For those who have a spirit of adventure and an open mind, this trip is ideal. People who travel in search of authentic experiences and to connect with others who share their interests. Although there is no maximum age, we do ask that you be at least 14 years old and in good physical health.
4. Why travel with Big Dream Boatman?
Our trip has been shaped over time by the people it's meant to serve because we consider every guest's feedback and we carry out any changes that are requested.
We discovered that having too many people on the boat interferes with social dynamics, which is why we don't have too many people on it. We also try to include everything (including limited alcohol) in our fee and don't charge for anything during the trip.
Perhaps this explains why we maintain our top spot on Trip Advisor and remain the preferred expedition for the biggest names in travel, but there may also be another factor at play.
Although it's difficult to express, our name contains the key information. Have you ever been around individuals who are so passionate about what they do that you find it contagious?
That's probably what distinguishes us the most. As soon as you step foot on the boat, you join the family. As lovely as Palawan is—and trust us when we say it's gorgeous—we think the best memories are made when it's done with wonderful people.
5. When is good to go & itinerary?
We run expeditions from the middle of October to the end of July. January through April have the highest probability of ideal weather however we expect all expeditions to run from Oct - July.
The monsoon season prevents us from operating from August and September. There isn't a set schedule for these trips because, in our experience, it's best to allow for flexibility depending on weather and season. However, if you have specific inquiries about particular locations, feel free to get in touch with us.
We can assure you that we will probably stop by a few of the Coron Highlights, such as Kayangan Lake and Twin Lagoon, but we tend to avoid the others in Coron and El Nido. If you wish to see these, we recommend planning a day trip once you arrive at either location because we do focus on more of the remote, undiscovered areas.
6. Prices, Payment & Inclusions
This expedition typically costs $599 USD, however check the homepage or expedition pages to see if we are offering any discount.
A 40% online deposit is required , with the remaining 60% due at check-in.
Meals, beverages ( including alcoholic beverages), towels, snorkeling gear, and three nights of island-style lodging (cottages and camping) are all included in the price.
An expedition planning document is sent to you with additional information and suggestions for what to pack, etc.
7. Accommodations
The islands we visit lack amenities like hot running water or modern sewage systems because they are remote.
The cottages are made of bamboo and have a basic mattress, a mosquito net, and a fan. If the trip is full (only occurs during peak season), it is possible that you will share a room if you are a group of friends or a solo traveler.
Fresh water and a manual flush, both very straightforward but always clean and secure, are provided for the shower and toilet.
There is no luxurious bedding or air conditioning. There is very little electricity on the islands, all of the lodgings are constructed into the sand, meaning you wake up to the sounds of the sea.
People generally enjoy the rustic and straightforward aspect of the sleeping arrangements; however, it's important to set your expectations and determine whether you can "rough it" for a few days. We have been leading these expeditions for a few years and have welcomed all kinds of visitors, generally for those that are hesitant about the sleeping conditions it's usually not as 'rough' as you imagine, and you may well find you're tougher than you think ;).
8. The Boat
When we first started, we weren't particularly impressed with the boats available in Palawan, so as soon as we could, we set out to construct the most comfortable and secure banka boats the island had ever seen. And we did! The boat has everything we need to make the crossing, including a toilet, cushioned seating, nets on the side, and plenty of space on the upper and lower deck to relax and sunbathe. It's not necessary for adventure to be uncomfortable. Slide to see images!
9. Additional Information
The first day of the trip begins at 10 am, and the last day ends at 4 pm. We provide you with more information about the meeting location, your dietary needs, special requests, etc. when you make a reservation. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need more information.

The Top 15 Beaches in the Philippines You Need to See in 2024
Posted: March 25, 2024 | Last updated: March 25, 2024
When it comes to beaches, you simply can’t talk about paradise without mentioning the Philippines.
Made up of over 7,641 islands with seemingly endless shorelines, the Philippines truly is a beach lover’s dream.
From the famous white-sand beauty of Boracay to the hidden coves and bays waiting to be discovered, the country has some of the most stunning beaches not just in Southeast Asia, but all over the world!!
In this post, I’ll be sharing my personal list of 15 must-visit beaches that should not be missed when you travel to the Philippines.
These beaches have stood out to me as some of the best for clear waters, soft powdery sand, lush backdrops, and overall natural beauty and vibrancy.
Let’s get right to it and I’ll tell you why each of these spots is a true tropical paradise found.
15. Lambug Beach, Badian, Cebu
Lambug Beach in Badian, Cebu, is a secret beach spot perfect for anyone who loves the ocean but doesn’t want crowds. It’s tucked away in a small Barangay Lambug area, close to the Cebu International Golf and Resort.
This beach is all about stunning white sand and clear blue water. What’s great about Lambug Beach is that big resorts haven’t taken over, so it still has that chill, local vibe. Like cottages, you can find cozy places on the beach.
It’s also the place to be if you’re into exciting activities like canyoneering. Plus, you can rent tents, hang out all day at the beach, snorkel, or just relax and watch one of the most amazing sunsets you’ll ever see. Lambug Beach is definitely a go-to for a calm yet adventurous beach day away from the usual touristy spots.
14. Alegria Beach, Siargao
Alegria Beach in Siargao is another hidden treasure for beach lovers. It’s about an hour and a half drive from General Luna, and it’s totally worth the trip. It’s a long stretch of soft white sand, about 5 kilometers, where you can see breathtaking views everywhere.
What makes Alegria Beach special is how untouched it feels—there are no big hotels or shops, just a few simple picnic huts, and cottages under the shade of tall coconut trees. It’s the perfect spot for swimming, snorkeling, or chilling in the sun.
The best part? If you find a cottage, you can stay there without anyone asking you to pay. Just remember to bring your own snacks if you plan to hang out for a while.
13. Subic Beach, Sorsogon
Famous for its unique pinkish-white sand. This beautiful spot is where you can find crystal-clear blue waters, meeting the soft sand that gets its pink hue from crushed red corals.
The beach is split into two parts: Subic Laki (Big Beach), where you can find simple accommodations, and Subic Liit (Small Beach), a quieter area perfect for swimming or relaxing under the shade of trees.
Getting there is pretty easy, just a half-hour boat ride from the mainland, but it’s a good idea to go when the weather’s nice and sunny. Subic Beach’s stunning scenery and calm vibe make it a perfect spot for anyone looking to unwind at a beautiful beach.
12. Bitaog Beach, Dinagat Islands
Bitaog Beach, nestled on an island within Basilisa Municipality of the Dinagat Islands, stands out as one of the region’s finest.
This beach is a picturesque blend of white sandy shores, waters that meld shades of blue and green and rows of coconut trees framed by impressive limestone cliffs similar to those in El Nido and Coron, Palawan.
It’s a haven for activities like swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing, thanks to its natural beauty. The beach is accessible and most enjoyable from December to May when the sea is calm, perfect for island hopping tours.
For the adventurous souls, Bitaog Beach also offers rock climbing, trekking, and the option for overnight camping.
11. Puka Beach, Boracay
Unlike the busy White Beach, Puka Beach is known for its peaceful vibe, making it a perfect spot for those looking to escape the crowds. The beach is named after the plentiful puka shells mixed into its fine white sand, creating a unique and beautiful shoreline.
Surrounded by tall coconut trees and tropical forest, this beach stretches roughly 800 meters and is free from the usual beachfront hotels, resorts, and clubs. Visitors often enjoy the calm atmosphere, taking leisurely walks or joining guided tours to fully experience this natural beauty.
The best time to visit Puka Beach is from November to May when the weather is ideal for soaking in the sun and enjoying the peaceful surroundings of one of Boracay’s quieter beach spots.
10. Bonbon Beach, Romblon
Bonbon Beach in Romblon is a stunning beach paradise that’s a must-see. It’s known for having one of the most beautiful stretches of sand you’ll ever witness.
Bonbon Beach stands out because of its incredible sandbar that reaches a nearby island, especially during low tide. This makes for a breathtaking view and a unique experience as you walk along it, making the scene absolutely spectacular. The beach has super fine white sand and crystal-clear blue waters that will make you feel like you’re walking in a dream.
The best time to visit is from January to May when the sea is calm, making it safer for day trips and booking a island hopping tours. This place is not just a beach in Romblon but a jaw-dropping spot perfect for anyone looking to experience the natural beauty of the Philippines.
9. Banol Beach, Coron, Palawan
Banol Beach in Coron, Palawan, is a slice of paradise with some of the softest, whitest sand and waters in stunning shades of blue and teal that seem to come straight out of a painting.
Surrounded by impressive karst cliffs, this beach is perfect for those who love to pose, swim, kayak, or simply relax in a nipa hut by the shore. To reach this breathtaking beach, you can join a day trip from Coron or a private ferry for a more exclusive experience.
8. Paliton Beach, Siquijor
Paliton Beach in Siquijor, close to the small town of San Juan, is a beautiful spot famous for its bright white sand and palm trees right by the water. It’s an amazing place to watch the sunset and enjoy the clear, turquoise sea. You can swim, chill in a hammock or just enjoy a sunbathing at the beach.
This peaceful beach is always open, making it a great place to visit any time you’re on the island. The best months to go are from November to April, when it’s sunny and dry. Paliton Beach is quieter than other busy beaches, offering a calm, picture-perfect setting that feels like your own private piece of paradise.
7. Long Beach, San Vicente, Palawan
Long Beach in San Vicente, Palawan, is a breathtaking spot that boasts the title of the Philippines’ longest beach. Stretching over 14.7 kilometers, it’s a vast expanse of powdery white sand that’s three times the length of Boracay’s famous White Beach.
This makes it a fantastic choice for those who love to explore, relax on the beach for hours, or go island-hopping. Food lovers will appreciate the variety of restaurants offering both local and international dishes.
The surrounding area is as charming as the beach itself, with green landscapes and small villages that give you a glimpse of a simpler, tranquil life, away from the noise and rush of the city. It’s beautiful!
6. Dahican Beach, Mati, Davao Oriental
Dahican Beach in Mati, Davao Oriental, is a surfer’s paradise located about 10 kilometers from the downtown area of Mati City. It’s just a 30-minute ride from my place, making it my favorite spot whenever I need to relax and unwind.
Framed by tall coconut trees, the beach exudes a tropical vibe. It caters to thrill-seekers who enjoy skimboarding and surfing, thanks to the powerful waves that can soar up to 10 feet high.
Even though I’m not much of a surfer, I love swimming and playing in those big waves and just walking along the 7-kilometer stretch of gorgeous cream sand, which offers the perfect spot to chill, soak up the sun, and enjoy some music and cold beers.
This beach isn’t just about fun—it’s also a sanctuary for sea turtles and, occasionally, dolphins, which you can sometimes spot early in the morning. For those looking to stay overnight, there are plenty of resorts, such as Dahican Surf Resort, offering cozy accommodations and tasty food close to the beach.
Dahican is an active community surrounded by nature, where life is laid-back, and the ocean views are unforgettable. The people in Davao Oriental are incredibly welcoming and full of good vibes, making your visit feel like you’re part of a big, happy family. Whether you’re riding the waves or just enjoying the beach, the warm hospitality of the locals here is sure to make your experience even more special.
This is where I find my peace and joy, a place where I can just be me, relaxing and enjoying the beauty of nature.
5. Mahabang Buhangin Beach, Calaguas
Mahabang Buhangin Beach in Calaguas Island, Camarines Norte has captured the hearts of campers and backpackers alike.
Known for its expansive stretch of powdery white sand that reminds many of Boracay, this beach is called “Mahabang Buhangin,” which translates to “long beach.” It’s a place for those seeking adventures in and out of the water, offering activities like kayaking, snorkeling, and hiking.
Because the area is still relatively untouched, visitors should remember to bring their own food and camping gear since the amenities are quite basic.
Despite its growing popularity, the beach retains its peaceful and pristine nature, boasting some of the clearest and bluest waters in the Philippines against a backdrop of dense greenery — a true retreat from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Plus, the weak cell phone signal offers a perfect opportunity to unplug and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
4. Hidden Beach, El Nido, Palawan
Tucked away in the breathtaking landscape of El Nido, Palawan, and recognized as one of the world’s 50 best beaches, Hidden Beach is known for its unmatched beauty and serenity.
This paradise, concealed behind majestic limestone cliffs, presitine white sand, shimmering waters in shades of green and blue, and stunning natural formations that seem straight out of a dream.
Here, you can enjoy kayaking or swimming in peace, far from the crowds, with the chance to spot clownfish among the corals. To reach this hidden beach, you can book a guided tour or take a ferry ride from El Nido Town.
Hidden Beach isn’t just an ordinary “beach”, it’s a unique, jaw-dropping paradise where the natural beauty of the Philippines shines through, offering a peaceful oasis that’s hard to find elsewhere.
3. Malcapuya Beach, Coron, Palawan
Just a two-hour boat ride from the bustling Coron town lies the paradise of Malcapuya Beach, another beautiful spot in the breathtaking landscape of Palawan.
Known for its 1.5-kilometer stretch of dazzling white sand and turquoise waters, Malcapuya is not just a place to soak up the sun, it’s an underwater sanctuary perfect for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts, boasting marine life and colorful coral gardens. The beach, fringed with palm trees, offers a peaceful escape where you can enjoy the simple pleasure of sipping fresh coconut water.
Beyond its soft sandy shores, you’ll find hidden coves and stunning rocky cliffs, creating a picturesque backdrop for your tropical getaway. With its proximity to other island attractions like Banana Island and Bulog Dos, Malcapuya is the ideal starting point for an unforgettable island-hopping adventure in Coron.
Whether you rent a private boat or join a guided tour, a visit to Malcapuya Beach promises a blend of relaxation and exploration in one of Palawan’s most breathtaking settings.
2. Nacpan Beach, El Nido, Palawan
Nacpan Beach, just a 45-minute drive from the heart of El Nido, Palawan, is a breathtaking expanse of cream-colored sand stretching over 4 kilometers, framed by lush coconut trees and crystal-clear turquoise waters.
Voted as the world’s 10th best beach in 2016 by TripAdvisor, this spot maintains its charm by staying relatively untouched and uncrowded ideal for those seeking calmness. Nacpan Beach invites you to spend your days swimming, sunbathing, surfing, kayaking, or paddleboarding.
For the adventurous, a hike to a nearby hill reveals the stunning view of the Twin Beaches, Nacpan, and its lesser-known sibling, Calitang Beach. Alongside the natural beauty, a handful of local restaurants dotting the shoreline promise a taste of various cuisines, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely day under the sun.
1. White Beach, Boracay
As I write this, I’m singing along to one of my favorite lines from a Taylor Swift song, “This scene feels like what I once saw on a screen~” … which perfectly captures the moment because Boracay is truly beautiful — beyond words.
White Beach in Boracay attracts numerous tourists from various countries, drawn to its amazing beauty, romantic and peaceful atmosphere. Known not only as one of the finest white sand beaches in the Philippines but it’s also highly regarded worldwide.
The beach’s sand is exceptionally soft, white and pure, remaining cool even under the most intense sunlight.
Along the shoreline, you can find upscale resorts and hotels such as Shangri-La and Crimson Boracay that offer everything you could want. There are also many restaurants on the beachfront, serving a variety of dishes that will satisfy any taste.
The real beauty of White Beach, though, is its untouched nature — there’s nothing quite like sitting on its clean sand and watching the mesmerizing sunsets of Boracay.
Adventure seekers will find Boracay’s island-hopping tours an exciting opportunity to discover hidden islands and snorkeling spots, showcasing the island’s rich marine life.
This lively, picturesque destination, with plenty of activities, makes White Beach Boracay the number one choice for those seeking the ultimate beach vacation in the Philippines.
