Fast Travel Photo Locations

Driving in the lawless streets of Santo Ileso is fun. Still, the overworld of Saints Row is enormous, and going from one side of the city to the other in a car can be a hassle. Fast Travel Photos is precisely the solution to that. Here is every Fast Travel Photo Location in Saints Row.

There are six Fast Travel Photos, and these city landmarks are placed around the city of Santo Ileso for your convenience. Getting close to them will trigger their discovery on your map as a yellow train logo. From there, all you need to do is open your smartphone's Camera App and take a picture.

Once you've taken a photo, the Fast Travel Location will automatically be available. The yellow train symbol will turn purple when you've successfully added that location. You'll also gain a small amount of XP towards your level.

Click the links below for detailed directions on where to find each Fast Travel Location.

Panther Rock Fast Travel

Saints Row -- DX12 8 20 2022 11 14 51 AM.png

The Panther Rock Fast Travel will likely be the first landmark you run into during your playthrough . You can find this massive landmark in West Providencia , on the eastern side of Lake Sebastian .

From Jimrob's Garage, head east on the main street—you should be able to see the giant panther-shaped rock from the traffic light. Keep going up until the landmark is triggered on your map. You'll need to move up the dirt road slope just before the parking lot to get close enough for the picture.

Saints Row -- DX12 8 22 2022 10 57 44 AM.png

The first of two Fast Travel locations inside Marshall's territories, the El Dorado Fast Travel is located in El Dorado—directly south of Lake Sebastian.

If you're heading from Mercado , drive west using the northern bridge and continue on the main strip. The massive "El Dorado" sign is next to the Horse Feathers Casino . Be wary of incoming traffic while taking the picture; getting hit by a car will reset your action, so you want to do it fast.

Saints Row -- DX12 8 22 2022 10 44 17 AM.png

The only Fast Travel location under the Idols' territory, the Bear Lake Fast Travel is easy to find because it is on a small body of water. From the Church, drive northwest to the Marina West area until you find the small lake north of the #Trending Clothing Store .

You should be able to take a picture of the landmark by standing inside the pavilion.

Saints Row -- DX12 8 22 2022 11 04 06 AM.png

Cactus Bill is located in the Lakeshore South area occupied by the Marshalls. You can find the Cactus Bill landmark between two giant cactus statues in the middle of the Jansinki Park Plaza .

There is also a Photo Hunt opportunity on the southeast end of the park—you'll need to take a photo of the "Third Pillar" nearby.

Saints Row -- DX12 8 22 2022 11 01 22 AM.png

You can find the Lone Wolf Fast Travel location in the Badlands South , the southwesternmost region of Santo Ileso. If you're considering driving through the desert, you'll want to equip your car with an Off-Road upgrade to avoid crashes; otherwise, you can stick to driving on the main road.

The landmark is part of the Route 66 attraction, across from the Starmadillo Clothing Store .

Saints Row -- DX12 8 22 2022 10 48 38 AM.png

The Twin Coyote landmark is the last Fast Travel Photo location and the second one to be located on the outskirts of Santo Ileso. You'll want to drive east and into the Rojas Desert North region from the Church HQ . The landmark is next to the desert road right in front of the Twin Coyote Arcade Clothing Store .

Conveniently, one of the coyotes is also an HQ Collectible —so be sure to take two photos while you're there.

Saints Row Fast Travel Guide Unlock All Fast Travel Photo Locations

Saints Row: Fast travel guide — All fast travel photo locations

Image of Jason Rodriguez

Navigating an open-world game like Saints Row can be tough if you’re only starting from a single area. Thankfully, there are a few places where you should be able to teleport to when you need to speed up the process. Here’s our Saints Row fast travel guide to help you with all the fast travel photo locations in Santo Ileso.

Note: We’ll have a Saints Row guides and features hub soon, so stay tuned.

How to unlock fast travel points in Saints Row

Unlocking fast travel points in Saints Row isn’t obvious at first. That’s because these spots won’t appear on your map unless you’re within close proximity. If one is nearby, an icon of a trailer (or shelter) will show up.

You’ll then need to enable Photo Mode (i.e., “P” key by default) to take a picture. Make sure that the object is centered and that you’re not too close (or too far away). Likewise, mousing over the icon on the map will also tell you the proper angle. Anyway, once the borders of the camera turn green, press the spacebar to tag that location to enable it for fast travel.

Note 1: Unlike your apartment or the church HQ much later, these regular fast travel points in Saints Row are only for teleportation. There are no garages or helipads. As such, if you need special vehicles, then you’ll definitely need to spawn back in your HQ. Alternatively, you can use JimRob’s car delivery service after completing all his tasks.

Note 2: The Criminal Empire ventures do not act as regular fast travel points, though you still get teleported to them once they’re built for the first time. After that, you’ll have to drive/fly/glide to these establishments normally.

Saints Row All Fast Travel Locations

August 22, 2022 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

Saints Row has 6 Fast Travel Locations. They are called Fast Travel Photos on the map and count as a type of Discovery. Finding all Fast Travel Photos is a requirement for 100% district completion and to obtain the All Mine trophy.

Fast Travel Points are particularly useful because they let you get around the map much quicker. Instead of driving everywhere you can fast travel to save time. You should get them as early as possible to get the most out of it. Not every district has a Fast Travel Point. You can also fast travel to your Headquarters and to the Saints Tower once you’ve built it.

None of the Fast Travel Points are missable. You can still get them after the story in free roam. To activate the Fast Travel Points you must take a photo of a monument at the marked spot. Press D-Pad Up to take out the camera, zoom in or out until the object has a green outline, then take the picture. If done correctly the fast travel icon will change its color from yellow to purple. Click the icon on the map to fast travel there.

Saints Row Fast Travel And Landmark Locations

Here's where you can find and unlock every fast travel location in Saints Row.

By James Carr on August 22, 2022 at 3:13PM PDT

Saints Row has made its return, giving players a new sandbox to cause chaos in. This time that sandbox is Santo Ileso, a southwestern town set out in the desert. While there is plenty to discover while traversing the streets of Santo Ileso, if you want to get around town quickly you will need to find and unlock fast travel points. These points can be unlocked by finding specific monuments or landmarks to take a photo of. Once you unlock your base of operations at the Church, it unlocks a fast travel point there. Here are all the landmarks we have found so far.

In-between killing opposing gangs, you can unlock new fast travel spots by finding monuments.

Bear Lake - Marina West

The Bear Lake fast travel point is located in Marina West, which is in the northern section of the map. In the northern part of Marina West there is a small lake, which is visible on the map. Head to that lake and take a picture of the bear statue that has a small rabbit in front of it.

Panther Rock - West Providencia

Panther Rock is a massive mountain shaped like a panther. Located in West Providencia, which is in the central part of the eastern half of the city. The mountain is located right off the main highway and is hard to miss in the daytime.

El Dorado Sign - El Dorado

The El Dorado sign is located in El Dorado, the casino district of Santo Ileso. El Dorado is located in the southern part of the city, on the eastern side of the water. The El Dorado sign is located on the main strip, hanging over the road.

Lone Wolf - Badlands South

The Lone Wolf Motel statue is located in the Badlands South, which is in the southeastern part of the map. The motel is located off a small section of water at the intersection of two roads, sitting on top of a small rock.

Cactus Bill - Lakeshore South

The Cactus Bill statue is located in the Lakeshore South area, which is in the northeastern part of the city. There is a park area indicated by a circle and some overlapping roads in the area. You will need to get off the main road and into the park for this fast travel point to appear on the map.

The Twin Coyote fast travel point is located in the Rojas Desert North region. The Twin Coyote is loathed on the eastern edge of the map, but can easily be found by heading to the Twin Coyote Arcade clothing store, which is automatically marked on your map from the start of the game. The Twin Coyote statue is smaller than some of the other landmarks, but the Five Nights at Freddy's looking statues are easy to spot.

How do you unlock fast travel in Saints Row?

All my homies teleport

In Saints Row, the city of Santo Ileso is huge. With so many sights to see and so much money to make, it’s no surprise that you want to get around as quickly as possible.

That’s where fast travel comes in. While you can fast travel back to your apartment or church headquarters straight away without any extra steps, if you want to teleport to a particular district around the map, you have to unlock it first.

While that does incentivize you to explore the city, make progress on your signature abilities and test out your growing collection of the best cars in Saints Row , it can also be a bit of a confusing hassle - here’s what to do.

How do you unlock fast travel in Saints Row?

In Saints Row, fast travel points are marked on the map like any other activity . To uncover them, you have to zoom past them in your car or on foot to find their location.

Once you have a fast travel location marked on your map, you need to take a picture of it with your camera phone .

At the foot of the fast travel point, open your phone menu and select the camera function on the top row. From there, position yourself so the photo subject is lined up and snap a picture.

Once this is done, you can fast travel to that point on the map for the rest of your adventure.

How do you take a picture of fast travel points in Saints Row?

For some locations, lining up a perfect shot of the fast travel point is easier said than done.

It’s easy to miss, but most of the time in the viewfinder of the camera there’s some feedback on your frame.

If you’re in the wrong spot it will say something like “too close” or “subject not in focus”. To rectify this, you need to move backwards, unzoom the camera, or get into a different position.

One early example of this is with the Lion Rock fast travel point where you need to be slightly to the left of the marker (as you’re looking at the rock) on the map to get the right shot.

Here are all the other places we’ve found to fast travel to in Saints Row so far:

Saints Row: How to Unlock Every Fast Travel Point

The new Saints Row has a huge map, and players will have to seek out several landmarks if they want to unlock fast travel all across the city.

The new Saints Row is here, and the developers at Deep Silver Volition definitely made sure to listen to what the fans wanted . As a result, the game has turned out to be a terrific experience for gamers who enjoy its style of action-adventure. However, while Saints Row does take into account what makes open-world games fun , there's one aspect of the game that might be a stumbling block for some players: fast travel.

In Saints Row , players will only unlock two fast travel points through the normal course of playing the game's story. They will have to go seek out the rest of the fast travel points themselves if they want to unlock them. Given the fact that the game's map is fairly enormous, this guide will lend a hand to players trying to track them down.

The Apartment

The Apartment, located in the Mercado area, is the first fast travel point that players will reach in Saints Row , and one of only two that unlock automatically through the game's main missions. Complete the first main story mission, and the ability to fast travel to the protagonist's home will unlock.

The Church, located down by the Old Town Shoreline, is the other fast travel point that unlocks automatically. After completing the ninth main story mission, "Take Me To Church," the official headquarters of The Saints will unlock as a fast travel point.

Related: GTA 5 Mod Lets You Laser Civilians as The Boys' Homelander

Panther Rock

In order to unlock more fast travel points, players must visit the specific landmarks tied to those points and snap a picture of each one with the in-game smartphone camera. Standing in between the Apartment and the Church, the Panther Rock landmark in West Providence is likely the first one of these fast travel points that most players will find.

Twin Coyote

The Twin Coyote landmark is found on the eastern side of the map, far out into the Rojas Desert North area. While it may seem intimidating at first to scour the desert for this fast travel location, players should already have a map marker out in that area for the Twin Coyote Arcade. The actual landmark, a statue of two coyotes playing on an arcade machine, is practically right on top of it.

Related: New Tales from the Borderlands Has a Chance to Capture the Magic of the Original

In order to find the Bear Lake fast travel landmark, players should head up to the northern side of the map into the Marina West area. Bear Lake itself is a small lake in that section of the map. When players find this lake, they should look out onto the water and take a picture of the big statue of a bear and a rabbit sitting together.

Cactus Bill

Over on the western side of the big lake in the center of the map, in the Lakeshore South area, players will be able to find a pair of giant cactus statues. These statues aren't too far from one of the first few Criminal Venture locations and can be seen clearly from the main road, so they're pretty hard to miss. Taking a photo of the cactus statue to the South is what is needed to unlock this fast travel point.

Related: Saints Row Reboot Players Report Bizarre, Game-Ruining Bugs

Much like with the Twin Coyote fast travel point, the Lone Wolf point is also tied to a map marker out in the desert -- this time on the southwestern side of the map called Badlands South. Head out to the Lone Wolf Motel, snap a photo of the big wolf statue just out front, and this fast travel point opens up.

The final fast travel point to unlock in Saints Row is found in El Dorado, the casino area of the city that resembles Las Vegas. This point might be the easiest to find of them all, as the El Dorado section is a fairly obvious sight even from very far away. Head there, take a picture of the big El Dorado sign from the West side, and the final fast travel point becomes available.

How to fast travel in Saints Row

Unlocking new Saints Row fast travel points explained

Saints Row

The Saints Row fast travel system is handy for getting around the expansive world map, however the way to use it is somewhat confusing as you first need to take photographs of major landmarks found across Santo Ileso. The sheer size of the map in Saints Row can make progress around it feel overwhelming, and manually travelling everywhere is a drawn out process, so being able to fast travel is key. As it's not exactly clear how to unlock new fast travel points and locations in Saints Row, I've got a full explanation and list of locations below.

Saints Row Fast Travel

To fast travel in Saints Row to a compatible point they've already unlocked, players simply need to open the map from their phone, move their icon over the location, and hit X/A/LMB (depending on platform). The player will then fast travel to that location after a quick loading screen. This is something you can basically do whenever you're not in the middle of a mission, but is almost never an option while you're in the middle of one.

Of course, while fast travel doesn't require Saints Row money to use, it does require compatible fast travel points to go to, and this is where the issues arise…

How to unlock new fast travel points

Saints Row Fast Travel

Certain fast travel points will come pre-unlocked - the apartment from the start of the game, and the Church HQ when you access that several hours into the story, for example. However, most other fast travel points need to be unlocked manually, which is… a process, one that we've laid out below.

1. As you explore the map, getting close to a potential Fast Travel Point will mark it on your map with an icon of a yellow train. There's almost never more than one fast travel point per region.

2. Head to that train icon when you want to unlock it. There'll be a landmark or noteworthy object there (indicated on its map icon).

3. Use your phone to access the camera, and take a photo of the landmark (it'll be marked through the camera, make sure it's fully in view)

4. If done correctly, it'll be ticked off and the fast travel point will be unlocked, now presented as a purple train instead.

Saints Row fast travel photo locations

Saints Row Fast Travel

The big problem here is finding fast travel points, as it's not always obvious, and not every photo collectible in the game is a fast travel point too (it has to have the train icon). We've found seven fast travel points in Saints Row, including the Saints HQ church. The key is to look for noteworthy objects that stand out, even from a distance. It's a good thing to keep in mind while you're clearing side objectives and threats for the Ventures in Saints Row .

The Church - Old Town Shoreline

Saints Row fast travel point the church saints hq on map

This is the Saints HQ, which you'll unlock after completing the mission called "The Saints". you can fast travel to it at pretty much anytime.

Panther Rock - West Providencia

Saints Row fast travel point panther rock on map

Not far from the Saints HQ, you'll be able to spot this massive panther-shaped rock. Make sure you snap a picture to unlock it as a fast travel point as it makes it easier to reach the busy southeast parts of Santo Ileso.

El Dorado Sign - El Dorado

Southwest of Panther Rock and across the water, you'll arrive in the gaudy El Dorado part of Santo Ileso. Get a photo of the bright sign as a souvenir and to unlock it as a fast travel point.

Lone Wolf - Badlands South

Snap a picture of the large wolf statue at the Lone Wolf Motel in the southwest corner of the map.

Cactus Bill - Lakeshore South

From the Lone Wolf Motel, you can head north towards the more modern parts of Santo Ileso. When you're in Lakeshore South, head to the park area to spot a pair of huge, reclining cactii. Get a photo of the cactus to the south and you'll be able to fast travel to this park area at any time.

Saints Row fast travel point cactus bill photo

Bear Lake - Marina West

From Cactus Bill, go northeast and across the bridge over the lake to reach Marina West. Head over to the lake in the northern half of that area and snap a photo of the big bear statue in the lake to get this fast travel point.

Saints Row fast travel point bear lake photo

Twin Coyote - Rojas Desert North

Saints Row fast travel point twin coyote on map

In the northeast section of the map known as Rojas Desert North, you need to venture to the southeast corner near a small lake and look for the Twin Coyote Motel. There's a big sculpture of two metal coyotes playing an arcade machine. When taking a photo, make sure you take a picture of the 'Twin Coyote Fast Travel' and not the 'Metal Coyote' as this will not count as the fast travel point.

Saints Row fast travel point Twin Coyote photo

Fast Travel Photo not working

Saints Row ventures business empire

Fast Travel Photo points don't always actually unlock fast travel when you get them with your camera, which is annoying and can even feel like a glitch. However, there's a couple of reasons that this might be happening (assuming it isn't a bug).

  • You haven't framed the photo correctly. Make sure you've zoomed out so the entire object is in the viewfinder. The box will highlight green when it's ready for you to take the photo.
  • It's a Photo Collectible, not a fast travel point. Many collectibles are picked up by photographing them, but not every photo point allows for fast travel. Make sure it's marked on the map by the train icon, and the label "Fast Travel". It's easy to get thrown by a Photo Collectible and a Fast Travel Photo being in the same area, snapping one and mistaking it for the other.

Saints Row: How To Unlock Every Fast Travel Location

There are several landmarks in Santo Ileso that serve as fast travel locations. Here are where they're located.

Saints Row provides you with a beautiful map that you're free to run, drive, or fly around. And it's an enjoyable place to explore. However, sometimes, you just want to get to a specific area quickly. After all, if your desired location is across the map, you may not fancy making the long trip over there.

RELATED: Best Fast Travel Systems In Video Games

Thankfully, the title includes a fast travel system. Yet, it's easy to miss, as the game doesn't really tell you about it. You just have to discover it for yourself. Alternatively, you can use this handy guide that explains how the system works and how to unlock every fast travel location.

How To Unlock Fast Travel Locations

You gain a few fast travel spots automatically while playing, such as your apartment and home base. However, you must unlock the rest of them. To do so, you need to visit certain landmarks in Santo Ileso and take a picture of them.

You can access the camera from your in-game phone . From there, you must get the camera in the correct position and take the shot. When you do, you will be able to fast travel to that location from the map.

Fast Travel Photo Locations

Panther rock.

The Panther Rock fast travel spot is in West Providencia . Most specifically, it's near a Jimrob Garage, right by some hiking trails. The subject of the picture is a giant Panther head.

Twin Coyote

When you're in the Rojas Desert North region , head toward the northeastern corner to find an establishment that is a gas station and an arcade . Outside of the place, you will find two large metallic coyotes . Take a picture of them.

In the northeast corner of the Marina Wes t region, you will find a small body of water. And inside that little lake is a Bear, which is the required subject for your photo.

Cactus Bill

This one is located around the center of Lakeshore South . The landmark you must get a shot of is the large cactus wearing a cowboy hat . Surprisingly, there are two of them - you need to photograph the more central one.

Toward the south of the map, in the aptly titled Badlands South area, sits another fast travel spot. This one is outside the Lone Wolf Hotel , and to unlock it, you need to take a picture of the big wolf sculpture.

El Dorado is a flashy region with plenty of interesting places. On the road that runs through the middle of the entire region , sits a few large El Dorado signs. Take a picture of the one in the center to unlock this fast travel spot.

Saints Row: Every Fast Travel Location (& Where to Find Them)

Those who are hoping to unlock all of the fast travel locations in Saints Row are going to have to cover an awful lot of ground.

As seems to be tradition for modern open-world sandbox games , Saints Row features an incredibly large map. Granted, it may not be quite as big as Los Santos or Liberty City from the GTA games, but Santo Ileso still clocks in at an impressive eight square miles. As a result, getting from one side of the map to the other can be quite a chore, particularly without the help of fast travel.

RELATED: Saints Row: The Best Cars (& Where To Find Them)

Initially, players will only be able to fast travel to the apartment or the church, depending on where they are in the story. Thankfully, Saints Row also allows players to unlock new fast travel locations using the camera on their phone, though finding them all is far from easy. There are six unlockable locations for players to track down, which, between them, cover a fairly significant portion of the map.

Quick Links

Every fast travel location in saints row, the apartment (mercado).

The Apartment is the first fast travel location that players gain access to in Saints Row and becomes available once players have completed the first main story mission, 'First F#:!ing Day.'

The Church (Old Town Shoreline)

Players will unlock the Church automatically as they make their way through the main story of Saints Row . It becomes available as a fast travel location once players have completed 'Take Me To Church,' which is the ninth main story mission in Saints Row .

Panther Rock (West Providencia)

Panther Rock will probably be the first unlockable fast travel location that most players stumble across due to its position on the map. It's right in between the church and the apartment and to the east of Jim Rob's garage. It's one of the most breathtaking locations in Saints Row , so players should be sure to check it out whenever they get a chance.

RELATED: Beginner Tips For Saints Row

Twin Coyote (Rojas Desert North)

The Twin Coyote landmark is located way out east, not too far from a rundown arcade. Once at the map marker, players should keep an eye out for a statue of two coyotes playing a 'Space Coyote' arcade machine and then grab a picture of it to unlock the fast travel location.

Bear Lake (Marina West)

In order to unlock the Bear Lake fast-travel location, players will need to make their way to the area north of Lake Sebastian. Once there, they'll need to find and photograph the statue of the meditating bear and rabbit.

Cactus Bill (Lakeshore South)

The Cactus Bill landmark can be found to the west of Lake Sebastian not far from one of the first few Venture locations. There are two cactus statues near the map marker, with players needing to photograph the one to the south in order to unlock the fast travel spot.

RELATED: Saints Row: The Best Weapons (& Where To Find Them)

Lone Wolf (Badlands South)

Unsurprisingly, perhaps, the Lone Wolf statue landmark is located in front of the Lone Wolf Motel, which can be found in the desert southwest of Lake Sebastian. Players can either photograph it from the side or head-on in order to unlock the fast travel location.

El Dorado (El Dorado)

To unlock the El Dorado fast travel location, players will need to head for the El Dorado strip, which is to the south of Lake Sebastian. Once there, they'll need to snap a photograph of the El Dorado sign, though, for whatever reason, they'll only be able to do so from the west.

Saints Row is available now for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Google News

Saints Row is one of the original open-world video game franchises. It was gone for a long time, and now it has returned with a reboot. Fast travel locations are essential in almost any open-world game, so our guide focuses on all the Saints Row fast travel locations.

  • The Fast Travel in Saints Row makes it a lot easier for people to travel across the map easily.
  • The first location, The Apartment , also known as The Church can be obtained by completing the mission ‘Take Me To Church ’.
  • Panther Rock.
  • Twin Coyote.
  • Cactus Bill.

Fast Travel Locations In Saints Row

the new Saints Row game 2020 2022

There are 7 Fast Travel locations in Saints Row, and we will tell you how to unlock each and every single one of them.

The Apartment

el dorado fast travel saints row

First, we have The Apartment, which is also referred to as The Church because it was one. It is the main location of your gang and is the home where you live with your three other friends. So it is basically the main hub where you plan everything. It is here where the team names their gang Saints.

Lucky for you The Apartment is the only Saints Row Fast Travel location that is unlocked automatically. After you complete the mission, “Take Me To Church,” the location instantly becomes available.

Bear Lake

Saints Row Bear Lake Location on Map reboot game

We bet you can already guess what the landmark will be for this spot. You just need to photograph the statue of a bear. As the name suggests, the statue is in a lake. It is a massive statue so you can’t miss it.

Just make sure to position yourself carefully. Take the picture, and the spot will become available very quickly. Other than coming here to do some nearby activities, you can also Fast Travel here to just roam around the beautiful area.

Panther Rock

SAints Row 2022 game reboot Panther Rock fast travel on map location

Next up, we have Panther Rock. It is located in the center of West Providence. What you need to be looking for is a huge rock. It is not a statue; rather, it is a rock that is shaped like a panther. In our opinion, it looks too accurate to be a natural formation, but who knows, maybe cave dwellers left it there.

Finding the spot will be very easy as it can be seen from many areas of the map. Still, we are here to recommend the best spot to take the picture. As we mentioned earlier, even a bit of disruption can mess up the picture and result in failing to unlock the spot.

El Dorado

Saints Row 2022 El Dorado region fast Travel point reboot 2022

As the name suggests, the El Dorado Fast Travel location can be found in the El Dorado region of the game. While most of the map is pretty small when compared to other games, going from region to region can be quite time-consuming.

Other than The Apartment/The Church, El Dorado is probably the easiest Saints Row Fast Travel location to unlock. All you need to do is take a picture of the sign welcoming you to the region.

Positioning yourself for the image is also going to be very simple, as the sign is just there with nothing coming in the way. Take out your phone, snap a photo, and you are good to go.

Twin Coyote

Twin Coyote wolves landmark saints row 2022 reboot

Reaching the Twin Coyote landmark is probably going to be the most challenging out of all of these. It is located on the east side of the map in the Rojas Desert North area. The best thing about it is that locating the landmark is easy.

In addition, it is due to the fact that it is located near the Twin Coyote Arcade, which you can just put a waypoint on your map for. Once you reach the arcade, the landmark will be marked. Once you reach the landmark, snap a picture of the two werewolf-like statues.

Cactus Bill

Saints Row 2022 Reboot Cactus landmark

Cactus Bill can be located in the Lakeshore South area of the map. It is just a statue of large cacti and is very hard to miss once you reach it.

The hard part is taking the right picture of the Cactus Bill. It is huge, and you will have to position yourself very carefully to get the right angle. Also, to capture the entire statue, make sure to use your phone’s zoom feature.

Lone Wolf Saints Row 2022 REboot

You can find the Lone Wolf landmark while driving through the Badlands South intersection. Look opposite the large guitars, and you will mind the wolf statue that you are looking for. It is hard to miss as it is huge and looks exactly like you expect it to.

Snapping an image of the Lone Wolf landmark is easy. Just position yourself carefully on the road, and it is as easy as that. Now you have unlocked the last Saints Row Fast Travel location.

And that sums up all the Saints Row Fast Travel locations. Now you are done and can instantly teleport to any of these whenever you want. By now, you must know how important these are and how much they will help you. Saints Row is available on PC exclusively through the Epic Games Store.

City Street Guides by f.d. walker: A Street Photography Guide to Moscow, Russia

moscow-guide-cover

*A series of guides on shooting Street Photography in cities around the world. Find the best spots to shoot, things to capture, street walks, street tips, safety concerns, and more for cities around the world. I have personally researched, explored and shot Street Photography in every city that I create a guide for. So you can be ready to capture the streets as soon as you step outside with your camera!

At over 12 million people, Moscow is the largest city in Russia and second largest in Europe by population ( Istanbul is #1). An urban, cosmopolitan metropolis with more than enough glitz and glam to cater to the elite, but without losing its fair share of Soviet era roughness around the edges. It can be fast paced, brash, busy, and trendy like other big cities, but it has its blend of West meets Russia atmosphere and beauty that provides plenty of unique interest. The Red Square is as famous as it gets, but there’s so much more to this city, including the most beautiful subway system you’ve ever seen. It would take years to capture all of Moscow, but that means you have an endless amount of areas to discover.

el dorado fast travel saints row

So here’s a Street Photography guide so you can be ready to capture all that Moscow has to offer before you even arrive!

  • Patriarch’s Pond
  • Old Arbat Street
  • Maroseyka Street
  • Tverskoy Boulevard

Top 5 Street Spots:

1. red square.

The Red Square is the most famous square in not just Russia, but all of Eastern Europe. The name actually doesn’t come from the color of the bricks or communism, but from the name in Russian, Krásnaya, once meaning “beautiful” before its meaning changed to “red.” This large plaza is what you see on the cover of guide books and magazines for Moscow, with St. Basil’s Cathedral being the center piece next to Lenin’s Mausoleum surrounded by the Kremlin Wall. Of course, the Red Square attracts hordes of tourist due to the main attractions, but all that activity around an interesting atmosphere does provide street photo opportunities. It’s also the central square connecting to the city’s major streets, providing a good starting point to explore outward.

el dorado fast travel saints row

You’ll also find the popular pedestrian only Nikolskaya Street connecting the Red Square to Lubyanka Square. This line of expensive shops includes plenty of activity, while also leading you to another popular square. Filled with history rivaling any city, the Red Square and surrounding areas are the heart and soul of Russia.

el dorado fast travel saints row

2. Patriarch’s Ponds

Patriarch’s Ponds is one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Moscow. Despite the name being plural, there’s only one large pond, but it’s worth a visit with your camera. It’s a popular spot for locals and expats to come relax or take a stroll around the pond. You get an interesting mix of young and old too, from young love to “babushkas” feeding pigeons. It’s a very peaceful park atmosphere in one of the nicer areas within the city center, while bringing enough activity for street photography.

el dorado fast travel saints row

The pond is shallow and in the winter becomes a popular spot for ice-skating too. The area is also well-known for the location in the famous Russian novel, The Master and Margarita.

3. Old Arbat (Stary Arbat)

Old Arbat is the most famous pedestrian street in Moscow, and dating back to the 15th century, also one of its oldest. Originally, it was an area of trade, but soon became the most prestigious residential area in Moscow. During the 18th century, Arbat started attracting the city’s scholars and artists, including Alexander Pushkin. Cafes lined the streets and impressive homes filled the neighborhood. Since then, New Arbat street was created as a highway in the area, while Old Arbat was paved for a 1km pedestrian only walkway.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Due to the historic buildings, famous artists that lived here, and the bohemian atmosphere, Old Arbat has become a big attraction for tourists today. Now, there’s a mix of cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, street performers, street merchants and other attractions for visitors, and some locals, to come enjoy. It can get really busy here and there’s usually something interesting going on so it’s a good street to come walk with your camera for guaranteed life.

4. Gorky Park

One of the most famous places in Moscow is Gorky Park. The official name is Maxim Gorky’s Central Park of Culture & Leisure, which gives you an idea of what goes on here. When built, it was the first of its kind in the Soviet Union. Divided into two parts, it stretches along Moscow River. One end contains fair rides, foods stands, tennis courts, a sports club, a lake for boat rides, and more. This end brings more active life due to its number of attractions, while the other end is more relaxed, where you’ll find gardens, trees, older buildings, and an outdoor amphitheater.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Gorky Park attracts mostly locals so it’s a good spot to capture the non-tourist side of Moscow life. Muscovites come here to escape the city and unwind in a picturesque setting. The park remains alive outside of the warmer months too, especially when the lake turns into the city’s largest outdoor skating rink. I’d recommend taking the metro out here to spend at least half a day exploring the massive park’s life with your camera.

5. Maroseyka Street

Maroseyka Street is a popular area not too far from the Red Square. The long, winding street turns into Pokrovka and is lined with restaurants, cafes, bars and places to stay. It’s actually where I like to stay when I’m in Moscow due to its location and solid street photography opportunities itself. You have Kitay-gorod station near and if you keep walking southwest, you’ll get to the Red Square. But if you walk northwest, as it changes to Pokrovka, you can find a long street of activity for photography with its own interesting atmosphere.

el dorado fast travel saints row

6. Tverskoy Boulevard

Tverskoy Boulevard is the oldest and longest boulevard in Moscow, beginning at the end of Nikitsky Boulevard, and finishing at Pushkin Square, a spot to come for activity itself. The boulevard is made up of two avenues, with pedestrian walkways in-between. You’ll find grass, shrubbery, trees, benches and more walking it’s almost kilometer length. Many people come here to enjoy some relaxation, walk their dog, or just to use it to walk wherever they’re going. Its center location also provides a nice place to walk with your camera near plenty of other spots you’ll want to check out anyway.

Sample Street Walk:

For a full day of Street Photography, covering some of the best spots, you can follow this sample street walk for Moscow:

  • Start your morning walking around the Red Square (1), while exploring the surrounding area, including Nikolskaya Street
  • Then walk northwest to Patriarch’s Ponds (2) and slowly walk the pond and surrounding area with your camera
  • Next, walk east to the Pushkin Monument and stroll down Tverskoy Boulevard (6)
  • Once Tverskoy Boulevard (6) ends, it will turn into Nikitsky Boulevard. Follow this down until you get to the start of Old Arbat Street (3), across from Arbatskaya station
  • After you’re done walking down Old Arbat Street (3) for more street photography, spend some time checking out Moscow’s beautiful metro stations
  • To finish off the day with more street photography, get off the metro near Red Square (1) again, Maroseyka Street (5) or wherever you’re staying for the night.

3 Things I’ll Remember about Shooting in Moscow:

1. museum metro.

The Moscow metro system was the first underground railway system in the Soviet Union and today includes 203 stations across 340km of routes. The elaborate system has some of the deepest stations in the world too, with escalators that seem to go on forever. None of this is what makes it so special, though. Many of its stations feel like stepping inside a museum, making it without a doubt the most interesting and beautiful metro system I’ve been in.

el dorado fast travel saints row

When built, Stalin wanted to make the metro stations “palaces for the people” with marble, chandeliers, and grand architecture. The best part is the variety of architecture and styles used, making many of the stations a completely different experience visually. You could easily spend a whole day traveling the stations and there are even tours available for people who wish to do just that. My advice, though, would be just to buy a ticket and hop on and off at different stations, while exploring different lines. The museum-like surrounding mixed with the crowds of characters can make for a great photography experience.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Since there are so many stations, here are some of my favorites to check out:

  • Novoslobodskaya
  • Mayakovskaya
  • Elektrozavodskaya
  • Komsomolskaya
  • Ploschad Revolyutsii
  • Dostoyevskaya
  • Prospekt Mira

2. Moscow is Big

It’s no secret that Moscow is a big city, but it can feel even bigger with how spread out much of it is. This is especially true if you compare it to cities outside of Asia. If I compared it to cities in Europe, I’d probably say only Istanbul would warrant more time to really discover the depths of this city. Most only explore around the Red Square and surrounding area, but that is such a small part of the city. Although, that central area does give you plenty to see on its own.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Fortunately, I had a good friend living in the city to show me around, but it opened up my eyes even more to how much there is to discover in Moscow. It’s a big city with a variety of atmosphere that can take you from “east” to “west” and trendy to rugged depending on where you go. I’d imagine you’d have to live here a while to really know the city.

3. Cosmopolitan Mix of East meets West

Modern skyscrapers mixed with amazing architecture, a world-class metro system with museum-like beauty, trendy fashion and chic clubs, Moscow is a rich mix of Russian culture and history in a more western cosmopolitan package. There is a push to keep the Russian culture, while also pushing forward with a modern metropolis the whole world will envy. This comes with an impressive skyline, that continues to grow, and endless modernities, but with soviet nostalgia and atmosphere mixed in for good measure.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Mixed in with this grand western cosmopolitan atmosphere, is a strong national pride in Russia. This includes their famous leader, Vladimir Putin. Maybe no other place will you see a country’s leader more often. All over, from the pricey tourist shops to the underground walkway stalls, you’ll find goods with Putin’s likeness covering them. From t-shirts to magnets to Matryoshka dolls. There’s a strong national pride that can be seen around the city, which also extends to their leader. Moscow is many things. It’s East meets West, modernizations meets Soviet era, and a whole lot more.

What To Do For a Street Photography Break?:

Eat at a stolovaya.

Stolovayas are Russian cafeterias that became popular in the Soviet days. You grab a tray and walk down the line of freshly prepared local dishes, and select whatever you want from the chefs. They’re usually inexpensive and a much better value than restaurants, while giving you the opportunity to try from a wide selection of everyday Russian food. They’re also very tasty. I always include some borsch on my tray and go from there. The places themselves are all over Moscow and usually come with Soviet-era aesthetics to complete the experience.

Street Safety Score: 7

*As always, no place is completely safe! So when I talk about safety, I’m speaking in general comparison to other places. Always take precaution, be smart, observe your surroundings and trust your instincts anywhere you go!

Being the 2nd largest city in Europe with over 12 million people, you’re going to have your dangerous areas, but for the most part, it feels safe walking around. Russia is statistically higher in crime compared to most of Europe, but this generally doesn’t apply to tourists and visitors. Around the Red Square and surrounding city center, you should feel completely safe walking around. Pick pocketing can happen, but no more than other touristic places. I always explore Moscow freely without coming across too much to worry about. It’s a spread out city, though, so of course it matters where you are. Just use basic street smarts, know where you are and Moscow shouldn’t give you a problem.

el dorado fast travel saints row

People’s Reaction Score: 7

Moscow is fast paced, big city life, which usually means people aren’t too concerned with you, or your camera. I don’t find people notice or pay much attention to me when I’m out taking photos in Moscow. For the most part, people just go about their day. You shouldn’t get too many looks or concern. But it can depend on the area you are in. The more you stick out, the more you might get noticed with suspicions. I’ve never had any problems in Moscow, or Russia, but just be careful who you’re taking a photo of if you get out of the city center. Other than that, it’s about average for reactions.

Street Tips:

Learn the alphabet .

Much of Moscow, including the metro system, doesn’t use english. The Russian alphabet uses letters from the Cyrillic script, which if you aren’t familiar with it and don’t know the sounds, can be hard to decipher the words. This is most important for street names and metro stops when trying to get around. It can save confusion and make it easier getting around if you learn the basic alphabet. At the very least then, you can sound out the words to see which are similar in the english conversion, which can help matching them to maps. When out shooting street photography, getting around is as important as anything. So save yourself some time and frustration by learning the Russian Alphabet.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Use the metro

While Saint-Petersburg feels very walkable for a city its size, Moscow can feel very spread out, even for its bigger size. Outside of the Red Square area, you can have plenty of walking before getting anywhere very interesting, so you’ll need to take the metro a lot if you really want to explore the city. Maps are deceiving here too, it will always be further than it looks.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Another reason it’s less walkable than Saint-Petersburg is its completely different set-up. Moscow’s streets are mostly contstructed in rings with narrow, winding streets in-between. This is common with medieval city cities that used to be confined by walls, but you usually don’t have it in a city this massive. Saint-Petersburg has a more grid-like pattern that also uses the canals to help you know your way around. When it comes to navigating on foot in Moscow, it can be more difficult, so bring a map and take the metro when needed. It’s why Moscow’s metro carries more passengers per day than the London and Paris subways combined.

Explore other areas if you have time

Moscow is really big. While most people stay around the Red Square within the Boulevard Ring, there’s so much more to the city. I covered some other spots outside of this circle, but if you really want to see the city, you’ll need time. If you do have time, some other areas I’d check out first are Zamoskvarechye, along some of the south and western Moscow.

Conclusion:

Moscow’s name brings a certain mystique, but once you’re there it might bring a different atmosphere than you expect. It’s big and sprawling, but beautiful in many ways. It can feel like a European capital on a grand scale, but you can definitely find its Russian side in there.

el dorado fast travel saints row

The urban sprawl of Moscow can be intimidating, but give it enough time and you’ll be rewarded with plenty to discover. All with the world’s best metro system to take you around.

I hope this guide can help you start to experience some of what Moscow contains. So grab your camera and capture all that Moscow has to offer for Street Photography!

Luxury Ralph Lauren-Inspired Townhouses Hit The Market in Moscow

The residences occupy a storied stretch of the russian capital.

T he flamboyant interiors that flourished in post–Soviet Russia have gradually given way to a fresher, more restrained approach to decor. Moscow’s latest luxury real-estate offering—a set of limestone Beaux Arts–style townhouses aptly named Noble Row —eschews flash for a timeless, sophisticated look. The surprise element is in the development’s backstory: The six newly built residences, located in a tranquil lane just off historic Ostozhenka Street (the city’s Golden Mile), were inspired by American style icon Ralph Lauren .

Allegiance to the Lauren brand, it turns out, is not uncommon in the Russian capital, where the fashion label has two shops, crafted with help from New York architectural designer Gregory Tuck . When the devel opers of Noble Row, brothers Konstantin and Arkadiy Akimov, sought out Tuck, he jumped at the chance. “I was attracted to the courage of the endeavor,” he says. “Building at this level requires tremendous resources and patience.”

To ensure the interior craftsmanship was up to the highest standard, the brothers enlisted top Manhattan interiors firm Foley & Cox , whose principals, Mary Foley and Michael Cox, began their design careers at Ralph Lauren. “It was a refreshing exercise in global collaboration,” says Cox of the Noble Row creative roster, which includes Christopher Peacock (for the kitchens), Chesney’s (for the stone fireplaces), and Waterworks (for the bathroom fittings). For the walls, Chilean-born New York artist Marilu Nordenflycht created a series of charming ink and chalk drawings featuring equestrian scenes and figurative studies, which Cox describes as “modern interpretations of Matisse and Ellsworth Kelly sketches.”

To sweeten the deal, the Akimovs have fully furnished the 6,500-square-foot single-family townhouses—each crowned with a rooftop winter garden—exclusively with pieces by Ralph Lauren Home . So far the brothers’ tribute to the American designer is proving successful: Four of the six dwellings have already been sold. The remaining two are available for between $20 million and $25 million each. apdevelopment.ru

In Transit: Notes from the Underground

Jun 06 2018.

Spend some time in one of Moscow’s finest museums.

Subterranean commuting might not be anyone’s idea of a good time, but even in a city packing the war-games treasures and priceless bejeweled eggs of the Kremlin Armoury and the colossal Soviet pavilions of the VDNKh , the Metro holds up as one of Moscow’s finest museums. Just avoid rush hour.

The Metro is stunning and provides an unrivaled insight into the city’s psyche, past and present, but it also happens to be the best way to get around. Moscow has Uber, and the Russian version called Yandex Taxi , but also some nasty traffic. Metro trains come around every 90 seconds or so, at a more than 99 percent on-time rate. It’s also reasonably priced, with a single ride at 55 cents (and cheaper in bulk). From history to tickets to rules — official and not — here’s what you need to know to get started.

A Brief Introduction Buying Tickets Know Before You Go (Down) Rules An Easy Tour

A Brief Introduction

Moscow’s Metro was a long time coming. Plans for rapid transit to relieve the city’s beleaguered tram system date back to the Imperial era, but a couple of wars and a revolution held up its development. Stalin revived it as part of his grand plan to modernize the Soviet Union in the 1920s and 30s. The first lines and tunnels were constructed with help from engineers from the London Underground, although Stalin’s secret police decided that they had learned too much about Moscow’s layout and had them arrested on espionage charges and deported.

The beauty of its stations (if not its trains) is well-documented, and certainly no accident. In its illustrious first phases and particularly after the Second World War, the greatest architects of Soviet era were recruited to create gleaming temples celebrating the Revolution, the USSR, and the war triumph. No two stations are exactly alike, and each of the classic showpieces has a theme. There are world-famous shrines to Futurist architecture, a celebration of electricity, tributes to individuals and regions of the former Soviet Union. Each marble slab, mosaic tile, or light fixture was placed with intent, all in service to a station’s aesthetic; each element, f rom the smallest brass ear of corn to a large blood-spattered sword on a World War II mural, is an essential part of the whole.

el dorado fast travel saints row

The Metro is a monument to the Soviet propaganda project it was intended to be when it opened in 1935 with the slogan “Building a Palace for the People”. It brought the grand interiors of Imperial Russia to ordinary Muscovites, celebrated the Soviet Union’s past achievements while promising its citizens a bright Soviet future, and of course, it was a show-piece for the world to witness the might and sophistication of life in the Soviet Union.

It may be a museum, but it’s no relic. U p to nine million people use it daily, more than the London Underground and New York Subway combined. (Along with, at one time, about 20 stray dogs that learned to commute on the Metro.)

In its 80+ year history, the Metro has expanded in phases and fits and starts, in step with the fortunes of Moscow and Russia. Now, partly in preparation for the World Cup 2018, it’s also modernizing. New trains allow passengers to walk the entire length of the train without having to change carriages. The system is becoming more visitor-friendly. (There are helpful stickers on the floor marking out the best selfie spots .) But there’s a price to modernity: it’s phasing out one of its beloved institutions, the escalator attendants. Often they are middle-aged or elderly women—“ escalator grandmas ” in news accounts—who have held the post for decades, sitting in their tiny kiosks, scolding commuters for bad escalator etiquette or even bad posture, or telling jokes . They are slated to be replaced, when at all, by members of the escalator maintenance staff.

For all its achievements, the Metro lags behind Moscow’s above-ground growth, as Russia’s capital sprawls ever outwards, generating some of the world’s worst traffic jams . But since 2011, the Metro has been in the middle of an ambitious and long-overdue enlargement; 60 new stations are opening by 2020. If all goes to plan, the 2011-2020 period will have brought 125 miles of new tracks and over 100 new stations — a 40 percent increase — the fastest and largest expansion phase in any period in the Metro’s history.

Buying Tickets

  • Ticket machines have a button to switch to English.
  • You can buy specific numbers of rides: 1, 2, 5, 11, 20, or 60. Hold up fingers to show how many rides you want to buy.
  • There is also a 90-minute ticket , which gets you 1 trip on the metro plus an unlimited number of transfers on other transport (bus, tram, etc) within 90 minutes.
  • Or, you can buy day tickets with unlimited rides: one day (218₽/ US$4), three days (415₽/US$7) or seven days (830₽/US$15). Check the rates here to stay up-to-date.
  • If you’re going to be using the Metro regularly over a few days, it’s worth getting a Troika card , a contactless, refillable card you can use on all public transport. Using the Metro is cheaper with one of these: a single ride is 36₽, not 55₽. Buy them and refill them in the Metro stations, and they’re valid for 5 years, so you can keep it for next time. Or, if you have a lot of cash left on it when you leave, you can get it refunded at the Metro Service Centers at Ulitsa 1905 Goda, 25 or at Staraya Basmannaya 20, Building 1.
  • You can also buy silicone bracelets and keychains with built-in transport chips that you can use as a Troika card. (A Moscow Metro Fitbit!) So far, you can only get these at the Pushkinskaya metro station Live Helpdesk and souvenir shops in the Mayakovskaya and Trubnaya metro stations. The fare is the same as for the Troika card.
  • You can also use Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.

Rules, spoken and unspoken

No smoking, no drinking, no filming, no littering. Photography is allowed, although it used to be banned.

Stand to the right on the escalator. Break this rule and you risk the wrath of the legendary escalator attendants. (No shenanigans on the escalators in general.)

Get out of the way. Find an empty corner to hide in when you get off a train and need to stare at your phone. Watch out getting out of the train in general; when your train doors open, people tend to appear from nowhere or from behind ornate marble columns, walking full-speed.

Always offer your seat to elderly ladies (what are you, a monster?).

An Easy Tour

This is no Metro Marathon ( 199 stations in 20 hours ). It’s an easy tour, taking in most—though not all—of the notable stations, the bulk of it going clockwise along the Circle line, with a couple of short detours. These stations are within minutes of one another, and the whole tour should take about 1-2 hours.

Start at Mayakovskaya Metro station , at the corner of Tverskaya and Garden Ring,  Triumfalnaya Square, Moskva, Russia, 125047.

1. Mayakovskaya.  Named for Russian Futurist Movement poet Vladimir Mayakovsky and an attempt to bring to life the future he imagined in his poems. (The Futurist Movement, natch, was all about a rejecting the past and celebrating all things speed, industry, modern machines, youth, modernity.) The result: an Art Deco masterpiece that won the National Grand Prix for architecture at the New York World’s Fair in 1939. It’s all smooth, rounded shine and light, and gentle arches supported by columns of dark pink marble and stainless aircraft steel. Each of its 34 ceiling niches has a mosaic. During World War II, the station was used as an air-raid shelter and, at one point, a bunker for Stalin. He gave a subdued but rousing speech here in Nov. 6, 1941 as the Nazis bombed the city above.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Take the 3/Green line one station to:

2. Belorusskaya. Opened in 1952, named after the connected Belarussky Rail Terminal, which runs trains between Moscow and Belarus. This is a light marble affair with a white, cake-like ceiling, lined with Belorussian patterns and 12 Florentine ceiling mosaics depicting life in Belarussia when it was built.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Transfer onto the 1/Brown line. Then, one stop (clockwise) t o:

3. Novoslobodskaya.  This station was designed around the stained-glass panels, which were made in Latvia, because Alexey Dushkin, the Soviet starchitect who dreamed it up (and also designed Mayakovskaya station) couldn’t find the glass and craft locally. The stained glass is the same used for Riga’s Cathedral, and the panels feature plants, flowers, members of the Soviet intelligentsia (musician, artist, architect) and geometric shapes.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Go two stops east on the 1/Circle line to:

4. Komsomolskaya. Named after the Komsomol, or the Young Communist League, this might just be peak Stalin Metro style. Underneath the hub for three regional railways, it was intended to be a grand gateway to Moscow and is today its busiest station. It has chandeliers; a yellow ceiling with Baroque embellishments; and in the main hall, a colossal red star overlaid on golden, shimmering tiles. Designer Alexey Shchusev designed it as an homage to the speech Stalin gave at Red Square on Nov. 7, 1941, in which he invoked Russia’s illustrious military leaders as a pep talk to Soviet soldiers through the first catastrophic year of the war.   The station’s eight large mosaics are of the leaders referenced in the speech, such as Alexander Nevsky, a 13th-century prince and military commander who bested German and Swedish invading armies.

el dorado fast travel saints row

One more stop clockwise to Kurskaya station,  and change onto the 3/Blue  line, and go one stop to:

5. Baumanskaya.   Opened in 1944. Named for the Bolshevik Revolutionary Nikolai Bauman , whose monument and namesake district are aboveground here. Though he seemed like a nasty piece of work (he apparently once publicly mocked a woman he had impregnated, who later hung herself), he became a Revolutionary martyr when he was killed in 1905 in a skirmish with a monarchist, who hit him on the head with part of a steel pipe. The station is in Art Deco style with atmospherically dim lighting, and a series of bronze sculptures of soldiers and homefront heroes during the War. At one end, there is a large mosaic portrait of Lenin.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Stay on that train direction one more east to:

6. Elektrozavodskaya. As you may have guessed from the name, this station is the Metro’s tribute to all thing electrical, built in 1944 and named after a nearby lightbulb factory. It has marble bas-relief sculptures of important figures in electrical engineering, and others illustrating the Soviet Union’s war-time struggles at home. The ceiling’s recurring rows of circular lamps give the station’s main tunnel a comforting glow, and a pleasing visual effect.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Double back two stops to Kurskaya station , and change back to the 1/Circle line. Sit tight for six stations to:

7. Kiyevskaya. This was the last station on the Circle line to be built, in 1954, completed under Nikita Khrushchev’ s guidance, as a tribute to his homeland, Ukraine. Its three large station halls feature images celebrating Ukraine’s contributions to the Soviet Union and Russo-Ukrainian unity, depicting musicians, textile-working, soldiers, farmers. (One hall has frescoes, one mosaics, and the third murals.) Shortly after it was completed, Khrushchev condemned the architectural excesses and unnecessary luxury of the Stalin era, which ushered in an epoch of more austere Metro stations. According to the legend at least, he timed the policy in part to ensure no Metro station built after could outshine Kiyevskaya.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Change to the 3/Blue line and go one stop west.

8. Park Pobedy. This is the deepest station on the Metro, with one of the world’s longest escalators, at 413 feet. If you stand still, the escalator ride to the surface takes about three minutes .) Opened in 2003 at Victory Park, the station celebrates two of Russia’s great military victories. Each end has a mural by Georgian artist Zurab Tsereteli, who also designed the “ Good Defeats Evil ” statue at the UN headquarters in New York. One mural depicts the Russian generals’ victory over the French in 1812 and the other, the German surrender of 1945. The latter is particularly striking; equal parts dramatic, triumphant, and gruesome. To the side, Red Army soldiers trample Nazi flags, and if you look closely there’s some blood spatter among the detail. Still, the biggest impressions here are the marble shine of the chessboard floor pattern and the pleasingly geometric effect if you view from one end to the other.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Keep going one more stop west to:

9. Slavyansky Bulvar.  One of the Metro’s youngest stations, it opened in 2008. With far higher ceilings than many other stations—which tend to have covered central tunnels on the platforms—it has an “open-air” feel (or as close to it as you can get, one hundred feet under). It’s an homage to French architect Hector Guimard, he of the Art Nouveau entrances for the Paris M é tro, and that’s precisely what this looks like: A Moscow homage to the Paris M é tro, with an additional forest theme. A Cyrillic twist on Guimard’s Metro-style lettering over the benches, furnished with t rees and branch motifs, including creeping vines as towering lamp-posts.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Stay on the 3/Blue line and double back four stations to:

10. Arbatskaya. Its first iteration, Arbatskaya-Smolenskaya station, was damaged by German bombs in 1941. It was rebuilt in 1953, and designed to double as a bomb shelter in the event of nuclear war, although unusually for stations built in the post-war phase, this one doesn’t have a war theme. It may also be one of the system’s most elegant: Baroque, but toned down a little, with red marble floors and white ceilings with gilded bronze c handeliers.

el dorado fast travel saints row

Jump back on the 3/Blue line  in the same direction and take it one more stop:

11. Ploshchad Revolyutsii (Revolution Square). Opened in 1938, and serving Red Square and the Kremlin . Its renowned central hall has marble columns flanked by 76 bronze statues of Soviet heroes: soldiers, students, farmers, athletes, writers, parents. Some of these statues’ appendages have a yellow sheen from decades of Moscow’s commuters rubbing them for good luck. Among the most popular for a superstitious walk-by rub: the snout of a frontier guard’s dog, a soldier’s gun (where the touch of millions of human hands have tapered the gun barrel into a fine, pointy blade), a baby’s foot, and a woman’s knee. (A brass rooster also sports the telltale gold sheen, though I am told that rubbing the rooster is thought to bring bad luck. )

Now take the escalator up, and get some fresh air.
