Hanoi, Capital of Vietnam

Here are our travel photos from Hanoi. We started our trip in the North and travelled all the way to the South. Whether you are backpacking Vietnam from the South to North or vice Versa, it does not make a big difference.

Best recommendation would be to check the weather and let it decide. We decided to go from cold to warmer weather. Here is our guide comparing the best hostels in Hanoi .

Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba

The Ha Long Bay is the pearl of the North. The endless lime stones are dotted around the sea. Taking a cruise along them is popular.

We joined a private cruise tour by Woodstock Beach Camp. Together with four more travelers we immersed into a different world.

Here are the travel photos from Ha Long Bay, Vietnam.

Da Nang might be the most underrated city in this country. It is the big brother of Hoi An. It has always been in the shadow of the small, precious, beautiful village of Hoi An.

Highly recommended : The Memory Hostel in Da Nang. It is the 5 Star Hostel in the city.

Kon Tum, Vietnam

Kon Tum is a tiny city up the mountains. You may pass it when you decide to ride the Ho Chi Minh road. We stopped here.

It was wonderful.

No tourists, just a bustling local life.

The hotels were especially cheap and the quality high.

As a western traveler, the locals are amazed to see you. Not many tourists come here. In fact, we have not seen a single traveler soul in five days staying here.

Can Ram, Vietnam

A true gem, a hidden paradise. This is the place where we took really beautiful pictures of Vietnam!

We were stranded here by total accident. Coming from Nha Trang (We have an amazing best hostel guide for this city that you can check out), we ran out of time and light. The sun was going down. The motorbikes had no working lights on them. I was actually riding with a headlight around my head.

Funny enough, right?!

I only saw my iPhone screen and a tiny icon on Google Maps pointing: Accommodation .

This was our goal. We reached for it, arrived, and woke up 2 meters away from the ocean.

This is the magic of Vietnam. There is always something you can explore, and the best plan for Vietnam is not having any plan!

30 Vietnam Photos that will inspire your trip there

Updated: January 14, 2023

Vietnam , Asia

written by: Steph Kloeckener

Vietnam is an incredible and picturesque country. These 30 pictures will convince you to explore Vietnam.

Today, Vietnam is one of my top five countries, and getting to explore the country was one of my highlights of 2019. It is one of the best budget travel destinations and perfect for female solo trips . And as you will see in these Vietnam photos, it is a very picturesque country. I do not even know how many pictures I took during my two weeks there.

For me, Vietnam is a true gem and there are a few things I did not love about it. Admittedly I felt more at peace in the North with its stunning and unique nature, but the entire country is incredibly charming. If given the chance, I can only encourage you to visit Vietnam. There are so many fantastic off-the-beaten-track places in Vietnam and it is incredible to discover them.

Vietnam is a photographer’s dream. And I think I spend way too much time running around with my camera and a giddy smile on my face. The Vietnam photos in this post that will make you plan your own vacation in Vietnam, are just a small selection of my personal favorites.

Obviously, I fell in love with this country and I sincerely hope that you will feel the same way.

My Vietnam Trip

I spend 15 days there in 2019 and I honestly wish I had stayed longer. I started my trip in Hanoi and spent several days on Cat Ba and cruising through Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay. Afterward, I explored Ninh Binh. My destinations in central Vietnam were Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An. My trip ended in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon). If you want to know how much a trip similar to my own costs, you can read all about it in my Vietnam spending diary .

This post may contain affiliate links, which means I may receive a commission, at no extra cost to you if you make a purchase through a link. Please see the full disclosure for further information.

Ha long bay & lan ha bay.

I did a one-day cruise through Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay, and it was one of the most incredible moments in Vietnam. It was incredible to see the limestone formations with my own eyes and to swim and kayak there. If you end up visiting Vietnam, you should add a cruise like this to your itinerary.

You have several options depending on your budget: you can either book a multi-day trip that allows you to spend the night, choose a one-day cruise or take the ferry to Cat Ba. The ferry cruises through a part of Ha Long bay, so it’s the perfect option if you are on a tight budget.

This is one of the amazing places in Vietnam that you should not skip if you are planning a trip to see bucket list destinations in Asia . If you want to see Cambodia before or after you explore this amazing country, you should check out this 3 weeks Cambodia and Vietnam itinerary .

AUS2195

Cat Ba is located in Ha Long Ba and is the biggest island there. It offers an incredible peak hike and trekking, in addition to other great activities. It is a really cool place and I personally stayed on the island for 3 days.

Vietnamese sunsets

Ha Long City

I admittedly did not spend a long time in Ha Long City, but climbing Poem Mountain is a must. The view is incredible and climbing up this ‘closed’ path is a lot of fun. It is currently no longer possible to climb Poem Mountain, but the situation might change again in the future. Keep an eye on it if you plan to visit the area, as a little struggle and the research effort is more than worth it.

Until then, you can go on a virtual Poem Mountain hike .

Visit Vietnam and the view over Ha Long Bay

Some people call the area around Ninh Binh and Tam Coc the inland Ha Long Bay. And after having seen it with my own eyes, I can see where they are coming from. The landscape is really interesting and the area offers several interesting pagodas and buildings.

Watch the sunrise paint the area in golden-pink hues from one of the Hang Mua Caves viewpoints.

And head to Trang An between 2 PM to 3 PM so you can enjoy the boat ride as the sun sets.

Visit Central Vietnam

AUS4791

The most popular things to do in Hue are exploring the Imperial City and the Imperial Tombs . However, you should not skip Hue’s Abandoned Water Park Ho Thuy Tien .

red corridor in the former Imperial City of Vietnam

While Da Nang itself felts rather modern, there are a lot of impressive historic buildings in the area. So be sure to explore the surrounding area once you have seen everything that the city has to offer.

Temple in Vietnam

I honestly cannot wait to return to Vietnam and explore areas like the Mekong Delta and Sapa. While I do not know when I will return there, but I do know that I will once again spend a lot of time taking pictures.

Did these Vietnam photos convince you to visit Vietnam?

Hopefully, these pictures inspired you to visit Vietnam. The country already looks amazing in pictures, but it is even better to see it with your own eyes.

Let me know if these Vietnam photos made you decide to explore Vietnam and also what you loved the most about it once you have been there.

Consider me convinced! Your pictures are gorgeous and oh so inspiring!

No need to convince me 😉 I´ve been to Vietnam a couple of years ago and I loved it too! Nature, landscapes, Ho Chi Minh City, the people, and the food! I wish I could explore more of this beautiful country in the future!

Awesome! I am so much inspired…

Lovely photos that are definitely inspiring me to want to book a trip to Vietnam! I’ve always wanted to visit as it looks like one of those countries that I’ll love. I would especially love to visit the beaches and temples! ?

Omg!! So what this post proves, is that I NEED to get back to Vietnam stat! These views are amazing!! Especially that view over Halong Bay and the one from Mua Cave too.

I was also there for the same amount of time last year, and my itinerary looked pretty similar. I agree, longer would have been better, but I still can’t believe all I did during that time. I loved it there. Your pics bring back some amazing memories

wow. yeah you got me sold. those view points high up are just stunning <3

Oh wow! All those photos are soooo beautiful! Now I really wanna go there ?

Goodness your photos are stunning Steph! I have to admit, as soon as I saw some of those viewpoints and mountains I was thinking “ooh can you hike in Vietnam” so it is great to hear that there are trails that allow you to explore all this prettiness on foot!

You have me totally convinced that I’d love it (plus… although you didn’t include photos of it, I bet you had amazing food)

Photos are beautiful That dragon! Vietnam is definitely on my bucket list. Looks like you had an amazing. time.

You certinaly convinced me. Now I want to go back and experience it all again.

I’m traveling to Vietnam in March and your article has me so excited. I’m writing down all these places because every single one of them looks breath-taking. I cannot wait. Thank you for sharing.

Your pictures are AMAZING! ♥♥♥ I haven’t been yet to Vietnam but it is definitely worth to think about that! Nature is unbelievable and I know that in real life everything looks more impressive!!!

Breathtaking Pictures of Vietnam

Written By: Réhahn Photography

Updated On: February 8, 2024

Enjoy these amazing pictures of Vietnam and the every day life of villagers and hill tribes. French photographer Réhahn is currently on a mission to photograph all 54 of Vietnam’s tribes.

It’s taken eight years of travelling Vietnam by motorbike to explore the remote corners of the country but, with 51 tribes and counting for his ambitious Precious Heritage Project . You are going to want to check out more after seeing these beautiful pictures of Vietnam.

Here, he tells Graeme Green his seven personal highlights from his adventures across the country with beautiful photos of Vietnam to accompany his journey.

Table of Contents

Beautiful Pictures of Vietnam

pictures of vietnam

A travel photographer inspired by Steve McCurry and Sebastião Salgado, Réhahn is originally from Bayeux in the French region of Normandy, but he’s lived in Vietnam since 2011. Known as the ‘photographer who captures the soul’ of his subjects, he’s famous for his colourful and intimate portraits from Vietnam, Cuba , Malaysia, India and beyond.

1. Off the beaten track Vietnam – Tra Su

vietnam in pictures mekong delta

Tra Su is a peaceful place in the Mekong Delta with almost no other tourists. It’s a vast area of mangrove forest and swampland that’s home to many different kinds of colourful birds and animals. It’s around 30 kilometres from the town of Chau Doc, down in the south of Vietnam and close to the Cambodian border. The area has a particular type of palm trees you can’t find anywhere else in the country.

image travel vietnam

I’ve spent my last eight years in Vietnam travelling throughout the country for my Precious Heritage Project to photograph al 54 of Vietnam’s tribes. It’s taken me all of that time to find 51 of the country’s 54 tribes.

image travel vietnam

I discovered Tra Su by chance when I was looking for the Khmer ethnic group. I love to spend time there, exploring the local villages and waterways.

2. Coolest City in Vietnam – Hoi An

image travel vietnam

Hoi An is a small city on the central coast of the country, surrounded by rice paddies and the beach. It’s my favourite city in Vietnam. I’ve lived here in Hoi An since I moved to Vietnam in 2011 and I have my Precious Heritage Art Gallery Museum here, which contains my photos of Vietnam’s tribes, as well as tribal costumes and artefacts I’ve been given.

I love the lifestyle and optimism of people in Hoi An. The sun shines all year and the minimum temperature we get is 20 degrees, which is ‘summer’ in Normandy, where I’m originally from.

image travel vietnam

They call Hoi An the ‘Yellow City’. Early morning, between 5am to 7am, there are no tourists around, and I love walking, waiting for the sun to come onto every narrow alley, catching a young student on her bike or an old lady coming back from the market.

image travel vietnam

A river crosses the city and during the flooding season, Hoi An becomes like Venice, which gives unique photographic possibilities.

3. One of my favourite tribes – The Cham

image travel vietnam

Many of the tribes I’ve photographed in Vietnam have become friends or even like family. But I have a very special bond with the family of An Phuoc, a seven year old girl with incredible blue eyes. She’s from the Cham tribe, who are specialists in making pottery and silk.

image travel vietnam

An Phuoc is known as the ‘girl with the cat’s eyes’ in her village. Her sister has one eye blue and one hazelnut. We often hear that eyes are windows to the soul, and it’s true: eyes really can tell a story.

They family is now in my ‘ Giving Back’ project (because the photo of An Phuoc is one of my bestselling photos.)

image travel vietnam

Sapa, An Phuoc’s older sister, wanted to be a photographer, so I bought her a camera. I bought a cow for the family and bikes for the girls. I believe it’s my responsibility to give something back to the people I photograph.

4. Incredible Region to Explore – Dong Van

image travel vietnam

The Valley of Dong Van, in northern Vietnam, is inhabited by 14 different ethnic groups. I spent many days there to find various different tribes to photograph.

The area is much less known than Sapa, which is popular with tourists for hiking and meeting local tribes. Dong Van feels more like real rural life. Every five kilometres, you experience different architecture and different clothing, and it feels like crossing into different countries. You can visit weekend markets and spend time in local villages. Some people are harvesting hemp and others are working on costumes in the front of their house, but they always invite you to taste their rice alcohol.

The Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark is up here, which is a scenic mountain area, protected by UNESCO, up on the border with China. The views up in this area are incredible.

5. Most interesting cultural experience – BATIK

image travel vietnam

One of my most memorable experiences from travelling around Vietnam was getting to try making Batik with the Hmong people in Pa Co village, up in the north of Vietnam.

image travel vietnam

Batik is a technique that consists of drawing on hemp fabric with beeswax. The Hmong decorate their traditional costumes with this ancient technique. It’s such a fascinating process and the patterned textiles look beautiful.

image travel vietnam

You can pick up examples at local shops or markets, but it’s also possible to have a go yourself, which is a really cool experience.

6. Most spectacular road trip: Ma Pi Leng

Living in Vietnam has given me the chance to work on my longterm project and to really explore the country. I only drive motorbikes here and it gives me a feeling of freedom I’ve never felt anywhere else, setting out on my bike to visit new places and meet new people. I never know what I’m going to find.

image travel vietnam

Ma Pi Leng is one of the highest passes in Vietnam. It’s a ‘must do’ for any travellers exploring the northern region of Vietnam. The road from Meo Vac to Dong Van is called the ‘Happy Road’ by the locals. I love riding my motorbike there and stopping at the top to admire the valley below. The scenery is fantastic, with winding roads, green valleys and towering mountains.

7: Favourite tribal costume: The Ro Mam

image travel vietnam

As a photographer, I’m very curious about different cultures, ancient traditions, clothing and textiles. When I meet tribal people and photograph them, I’m sometimes given traditional costumes and other items that I collect and preserve at my museum in Hoi An. Many of the tribes aren’t able to make their costumes anymore and their traditions are starting to fade in some areas.

image travel vietnam

Meeting the Ro Mam was an intense and memorable experience, especially as I’d had to wait three years for authorization. There are now only 12 of their traditional costumes left, and I was honoured to be given one, as well as a pipe and a basket, to showcase their culture at my museum. The remaining 11 white costumes are kept safely by the Ro Mam as treasures, as they know no one makes them anymore.

23 things to know before visiting Vietnam

Adventures abound in Vietnam . You can climb the heights and scuba dive the lows, immerse yourself in culture or just kick back on the sand, confident in the knowledge that a fantastic meal is waiting for you at the end of the day. But there are things to know before you go, to avoid pitfalls in paradise. These are our top tips.

1. Pack for the climate

Perhaps the most important consideration when planning a trip to Vietnam is the weather. The south of the country sits firmly in the humid tropics, but the climate becomes increasingly temperate as you head north, and the highlands around Sapa can be downright chilly in winter. If you plan to visit both halves of the country, bring some clothes for the cooler highlands as well as the steamy Mekong Delta .

2. Be rain ready

Vietnam is soaked by the southwest monsoon from May to September and the northeast monsoon from October to April, so check the weather in the areas you plan to visit. Trekking in the northwest and boat trips in Halong Bay , for example, can be a soggy experience in July and August, but this is a great – if popular – time to bask on the central beaches. Even in the rainy season, it doesn’t rain all day, every day, so bring a raincoat or umbrella and make the best of the smaller crowds and lower prices.

3. Investigate the visa options

There are numerous ways to arrange the paperwork for a visit to Vietnam, some cheaper and quicker than others. You may not need a visa at all for a short trip, and electronic visas and visas on arrival are available for many nationalities – much less hassle than going to the embassy in person. Read up on the visa requirements before you book your flights, to avoid paying more than you need to, or getting held up by red tape.

4. Get your jabs

As with anywhere in the tropics, there are tropical illnesses to be aware of in Vietnam. See your doctor at least a month before you travel to get up to date with vaccinations, and arrange anti-malarial medication if you plan to visit rural areas.

Mosquitoes can also carry dengue fever, so bring repellent. On arrival, avoid drinking tap water and use antibacterial hand gel to reduce the risk of stomach bugs; a medical face mask can reduce the risk of respiratory infections and help with pollution in big cities.

5. Book ahead for Tet and the holiday peak

Booking transport, accommodation and tours ahead of time is not essential, but it’s a good way to avoid disappointment if you come at a busy time , such as July and August on the central coast. If you plan to be in Vietnam during the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival in late January or early February, having transport and accommodation in place before you arrive is a very sensible precaution.

There is a caveat, however – book directly with operators where possible. If you go through an agency, you’ll pay more, and some travelers have reported not getting the services and standards they were expecting when booking through third parties.

6. Factor sleeper buses and trains into your itinerary

Domestic flights in Vietnam are inexpensive but there are less polluting alternatives. When planning long-distance travel , don’t overlook the country’s overnight trains and buses – you’ll save the cost of a night’s accommodation and cover big distances, without eating into your sightseeing time. Reserve a fully horizontal berth for a more comfortable night’s sleep – both buses and trains have them. The booking site 12Go Asia is a good place to start investigating the options.

7. Give Vietnam the time it deserves

Vietnam measures 1650km (1025 miles) from the Chinese border in the north to the Mekong Delta in the south, so you’ll need plenty of time to get from A to B. Road and rail transport can be slow, and there are lots of places where you’ll want to stop as you travel between the major hubs. If you only have a short time, focus your itinerary on a small area – Hanoi and around, say, or Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and the Delta.

8. Respect religious spaces

When visiting Buddhist, Hindu, Confucian and Taoist temples, churches and other religious buildings, dress respectfully – it’s best to cover your legs and upper arms, and you may need to take off your shoes and hat to enter. Never touch anyone on the head, and avoid pointing the soles of your feet towards another person or any Buddhist statues – both signs of disrespect in Buddhist culture.

9. Don’t lose face

As in many other parts of Asia, Vietnamese culture places considerable emphasis on "saving face" – in other words, avoiding situations that might cause individual or collective loss of dignity and respect. Public outbursts and arguments can cause everyone involved to lose face, so keep a sense of perspective, and try not to get angry when confronted by inconveniences as you travel.

10. Do right with your chopsticks

There are several taboos associated with using chopsticks. Leaving your sticks sticking upright in a bowl of food is considered unlucky, as it resembles offerings of incense sticks made for the dead. Using chopsticks of uneven length is also frowned on, as is tapping your bowl with your sticks (associated with beggars requesting alms). If you eat in a group, use clean chopsticks (or the reverse ends of your own chopsticks) to pass food to others.

11. Eat like a local

Food is practically a religion in Vietnam, but locals focus their energy on the evening meal, where multiple dishes are shared between diners, with the whole family getting involved. Rather than ordering a single main course, choose a spread of dishes for the table and sample a rich mix of flavors and textures. If you need a boost between meals, street food snacks can be found everywhere, or just grab a nutritious sinh tố  (fruit shake) or a cup of local drip-brewed ca phe (coffee).

12. Don’t go overboard with displays of affection

Public displays of affection are not a big part of Vietnamese culture, for couples of all orientations. Kissing, hugging and even holding hands in public can raise eyebrows, so tone down the romantic gestures while you’re in the country. On the plus side,  despite lingering legal inequality, LGBTIQ+ couples generally face few problems in Vietnam, and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) both have lively scenes.

13. Be a respectful photographer

Always ask before taking photographs of people, particularly in minority villages. Many people find it intrusive, and by asking first, you’ll know if people are comfortable being included in your travel photos. In tribal areas, some villagers ask for payment for photos, which is fair enough... how would you feel if strangers kept sticking a long lens into your front porch?

14. Don’t get dragged into Vietnamese politics

Another time to think twice before pulling out your camera is during public demonstrations and political rallies. Critics of the government can face harsh punishments – demonstrations in 2018 against laws allowing the authorities to monitor online communications led to over 100 arrests. Play it safe – steer clear of political gatherings and avoid conversations about politics with local people.

15. Be a fair bargainer

Haggling is a fact of life in Vietnam, particularly at markets and souvenir shops, and you may pay over the odds if you accept the first price suggested. However, bargaining should never be a confrontational process – treat it as a game and counter the starting price with a lower counter offer, and see how the seller responds. With a bit of back and forth, you should reach a mutually acceptable price – and if you don’t, you can always decline politely and try another vendor. There’s little point haggling over tiny sums of money – if you pay 5000 dong (US$0.20) over the going rate, consider that you can probably afford it.

16. Know your loos

Western-style sit-down toilets are increasingly common in Vietnam, but you’ll often have to pay to use public loos, and paper is rarely provided. Carry your own, or use the hose or water jug provided. Bring antibacterial hand gel or soap; many bathrooms only provide running water.

17. Don’t let touts take you for a ride

Commission-seeking middle men (and middle women) pop up almost anywhere tourists gather, and Vietnam has its share. Be wary of touts who encourage visitors to use certain tour agencies, hotels, shops and transport companies in touristy parts of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hoi An. If you use their services, you’ll pay more to cover their fee.

18. Avoid the sex tourism industry

Sex tourism is an unwelcome legacy of the American War, but it’s usually easy to spot – and avoid – places where the sex trade takes place. Be wary of bars, karaoke lounges and massage parlors with scantily clad staff and lots of pink or red neon. Note that some hotels refuse to allow foreign men to share rooms with Vietnamese women – which can lead to headaches for genuine couples with an Asian partner.

19. Give drugs a pass

Illegal drugs aren’t hard to find on the traveler circuit in Vietnam, but the penalties, if you’re caught by the police, can be severe – even for possession of small amounts. Many travelers have ended up in Vietnamese jails for drug offenses, and the death penalty can be applied in drug cases. If you are inclined to toke while you travel, it’s only a short hop to Thailand , where the consumption of marijuana in food and drinks has been decriminalized for now.

20. Shop responsibly

Vietnam has some wonderful crafts and art forms that make for great souvenirs, but stick to modern pieces; it’s illegal to take antiques out of the country. Also be watchful for souvenirs made from animal parts, such as shell, horn, bone, teeth and feathers. Such items are usually taken from wild animals, and you could fall foul of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) .

21. Be smart about crime, not anxious

Opportunistic crime can occasionally be a problem, particularly in crowded cities where pickpockets and bag-snatchers on motorcycles take advantage of the unwary, but this isn’t a problem unique to Vietnam. Activate your big city precautions, and watch your belongings on busy public transport or in bars and cafes (using a phone or laptop at an outside table is unwise). Handbags with a single strap are a popular target for ride-by bag snatchers – a daypack or messenger bag is a better option.

22. Be wary of American War ordnance

Horrifying volumes of munitions were dropped over Vietnam during the American War, and unexploded ordnance continues to kill and maim people every year. Well-traveled areas are usually safe, but be cautious about stepping off roads and paths in rural areas. Don’t climb into bomb craters and never touch old explosive devices – they can remain deadly for decades.

23. Be typhoon smart

Vietnam is hit by periodic typhoons between May and November, with the biggest risk of storms from August to September. If you travel during the typhoon season, monitor local weather reports, and head inland from the coast if a direct hit by a big storm is predicted. In the event of flooding, contact your embassy or consulate and follow advice from the local authorities.

In 2024, The MICHELIN Guide is announcing the first ever MICHELIN Keys — a brand new distinction that recognizes the most outstanding hotels across the world. Head here for everything you need to know about the new Key distinction, and visit this page to explore the full list of Key hotels in France.

Three Keys is the highest hotel honor in The MICHELIN Guide. Being awarded One Key (127 properties) or Two Keys (38 properties) is difficult enough, but only 24 hotels have earned the Three Key distinction in France. Out of those, nine can be found in Paris. The Three Key hotels excel in all five criteria used to judge hotels by our Inspectors. Here, we thought it fitting to focus on just one of those criteria — the most photogenic of the five — architecture and interior design. Below, take a look at the interiors and exteriors of each of our nine Three Key hotels in Paris.

Voluntourism and educational travel experiences exist for all ages.

Guests and natives alike can experience educational activities.

Educational travel and voluntourism often serve as a conduit for experiential learning. An educational vacation or community service travel can enrich knowledge of places and customs in ways that can’t be taught via textbooks, especially for younger kids who tend to soak up hands-on lessons like a sponge. Through cultural exploration and immersion, students become enriched as global citizens, while developing a stronger knowledge of language and geography as well as an increased confidence and problem solving skills.

Rustic Pathways oversees immersive and authentic student travel programs.

Rustic Pathways , a program for global teen adventure travel and community service programs, conducts leading immersive and authentic student travel programs for middle school, high school, gap year and college-aged students. The service-based programs span locations from Australia to Japan to Alaska and more. Programs are available in 25 countries, and students accrued a total of 38,060 service hours in 2023, on track to increase for 2024, while 68% of Student Travel programs focus mainly on sustainability. Rustic Pathways has announced their 2024 student programs .

Travelers who are seeking an immersive educational experience for all age groups are well advised to check out these resorts.

Guests can learn about the science of mangrove planting.

Airtag 2024: iphone update reveals apple launching significant new feature, estonia just found another million shells for ukraine.

The Kids Discovery Program was thoughtfully crafted to not only entertain but also educate young minds, fostering a sense of curiosity, environmental responsibility and cultural appreciation. Children can become Momi Eco Warriors by building nests, planting trees and learning about: Fijian flora and fauna through hikes; Momi Marine Biologists by fish feeding, coral planting, rocky shore discovery, water testing, marine watch and beach-combing; or families can learn together with coral planting, fish house building and mangrove planting.

Students venture beyond their textbooks and villages.

Turtle Island, Fiji

Three times a year Turtle Island, a private island resort in the Yasawa region of Fiji, opens to families. Children are invited to become stewards of the island and learn how to farm, fish, weave baskets and visit local villages. The property recently announced ‘Turtle Island Field Trips,’ an educational program giving local school students from neighboring islands and villages the rare opportunity to venture beyond their textbooks and villages to learn firsthand about hospitality.

Even the smallest guests are immersed in local culture.

Montage Hotels & Resorts

Through its immersive children’s program, Paintbox, children participate in activities that educate them about the destination they are in and the culture of people who live in the destination. For example:

  • Montage Kapalua Bay , Hawaii. This intimate resort situated along Namalu Bay in West Maui, just ten miles from Lahaina, invites Montage’s youngest guests to learn Hawaiian language, hula and listen to talk stories from Montage Kapalua Bay’s cultural ambassadors. Activities such as explorations from mauka to makai (land to sea), turtle tracking along the Kapalua Coastal Trail or lessons on Maui’s aquatic playground at Namalu and Kapalua Bay foster a connection with the island.
  • Montage Palmetto Bluff , SC. At the luxury Lowcountry resort, resident naturalist, Cassie Beato, leads young and adult guests on waterway ecotours and walking tours of Bird Island, the resort’s treehouses, River Road and more.

One of the activities is The Humming Bird Safari.

The Tryall Club, Montego Bay, Jamaica

Since The Tryall Club is located on 2,200 acres of pristine coastline with lush forests throughout, there is a big focus on learning about nature. For example, one of the activities is The Humming Bird Safari which includes bird watching, where kids learn about native birds and the opportunity for feeding. There's also opportunity for cultural immersion such as playing traditional Jamaican games such as Cricket and Rounders, Jamaican Folklore Time where the children learn about Jamaican stories and culture, reggae dance time and more.

A young guest participates in a pottery class.

Kaya Palazzo Golf Resort Belek , Turkey

Known for its stunning 18-hole golf course on site, the 5-star Kaya Palazzo Golf Resort, Belek has something for everyone in the family. The property’s supervised “Mini Club” offers educational programming for little ones to enjoy, from arts and crafts, literature workshops, physical activities and interactive shows. Fostering a rich connection with Turkish culture, children can participate in hands-on pottery workshops and learn about the country’s history of ceramic production, dating back thousands of years.
