'Parents Are Incredibly Grateful for This': Kirk Cameron's Book Tour Rolls Through Northern VA
LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. - Actor, director, and author Kirk Cameron captivated a crowd at Gum Spring Library in Stone Ridge, Virginia on Saturday as part of his cross-country Brave Books Tour.
About 700 people lined up eagerly, stretching around bookshelves and out the door, to hear Cameron read his latest Christian children's book, Pride Comes Before the Fall . The book serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of pride and the importance of humility.
Cameron told CBN News, "Parents are incredibly grateful and thankful for this."

The event was one of several stops on Cameron's tour. Launched last year in response to the recent surge of Drag Queen Story Hour events at public libraries nationwide, he personally shared his pro-God, pro-family, and pro-America message with families and children. The release of the book coincides with LGBTQ Pride Month. Unlike some of his previous book readings, no protesters showed up at Saturday's event.
The actor shared his perspective, saying, "Perception is not always reality. The media often portrays a narrative that new progressive values are embraced by everyone. However, my travels across the country and conversations with ordinary people reveal their desire for the values they grew up with, which will lead our nation back to God and secure blessings for our children's future."

Securing library spaces has presented challenges during the tour at times, with dozens of public libraries reportedly turning Cameron away. However, Saturday's event saw no protesters opposing his message. But a sign that read, "Our LGBTQ students are under attack. Teach banned books," along with a copy of the book My Shadow Pink " were posted outside another meeting room across the hall.
Cameron later responded to the display in a tweet.
I took this photo across the hall from me at Louden County Public Library story hour yesterday. Their claim is the opposite of what they are doing. Claim: Teach Truth Book : My Shadow is Pink I hope everyone sees the hypocrisy. Even giving latitude for poetic license-… pic.twitter.com/ErwLeMlpZb — Kirk Cameron (@KirkCameron) June 12, 2023
Loudoun County, where the event took place, has been at the center of the national debate over transgender policies in recent years. As CBN News has reported, the county has made headlines over everything from raucous school board meetings, the firing (and subsequent reinstatement) of a teacher for refusing to use a student's preferred pronouns and a reported incident of sexual assault in a school bathroom involving a boy allegedly wearing a dress.
Cameron's return to Loudoun comes just two weeks after his guest speaking engagement at Cornerstone Chapel in neighboring Leesburg.
Gary Hamrick, Cornerstone Chapel's senior pastor, who led Saturday's prayer is biblically opposed to the LGBTQ lifestyle. He said we need to have compassion for those truly trapped in it, and has been urging Christians to stand up against societal pressures.
Last Sunday, Hamrick addressed the issue with a sermon titled A Biblical Response to the 'Transing' of America .
"The church has been silent for too long, allowing these cultural and social issues to go unaddressed. As a result, our culture has taken over, and many Christians today are simply accepting the direction the world is heading. We must be the salt and light in our world. We must stand up against the darkness," said Hamrick during an interview Saturday.
Cameron also made headlines this week through a video posted on Twitter, where he criticized Bud Light beer for betraying its audience and providing marketing advice in a controversial partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. The video encouraged Americans to invest their time, energy, and resources in supporting individuals who contribute to building the country they desire for their children's future.
Big mistake. You forgot to read the room. This one’s on me, Bud. @budlight Wake up the woke! Tag the companies you miss the most. @thenorthface @Ford @Nike pic.twitter.com/QYiV6f0MKZ — Kirk Cameron (@KirkCameron) June 7, 2023
Meanwhile, Brave Books is planning public library events across the country on Aug. 5. They are calling on supporters to organize these events, where they can "pray, sing, and read BRAVE Books and other virtuous books," and fill public libraries with friends, family, pastors, and teachers to guide the nation back to God.

Kirk Cameron Expands Story Hour Tour to ‘Take Back the Hearts and Minds of Our Children’
Posted by Zachary Mettler | Jan 17, 2023 | Culture
Kirk Cameron is “hitting the road” to take more of his Brave Books Story Hour events across the country, after previously being denied spots at numerous public libraries.
So far, Cameron has done three wildly successful Story Hour events at libraries in Indiana, Ohio and New York, featuring his new book As You Grow , which is “a faith-based book about the fruit of the Spirit as described in Galatians 5:22-23 .”
Cameron hosted his most recent event at the Placentia Library in Placentia, California on Saturday, January 14. Video posted by the book’s publisher, Brave Books, showed long lines and high turnout for the event.
Nobody can stand in the way of God fearing, loving fathers and mothers! Despite the downpour of rain, these BRAVE patriots came out to support @KirkCameron 's LIVE book reading! Thank you, Placentia! We will be back soon, California! pic.twitter.com/ugO410Tmve — BRAVE BOOKS (@BraveBooksUS) January 15, 2023
Cameron told the Washington Examiner that he is using the Story Hour to help parents “be part of a movement that pushes back against the storm of wokeism that appears to be sweeping the nation and sucking their children into its vortex.
The Brave Books Story Hour events are a counter to Drag Queen Story Hours where drag queens read books to children at public libraries, schools and bookstores.
According to the Drag Story Hour website (which the Daily Citizen will not link to), these story hours capture “the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models.”
“In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where everyone can be their authentic selves!” the website states. It also notes that Drag Story Hour has worked with corporate partners, including PBS, HBO, Facebook, Google, Hulu, Microsoft, Intuit, Disney and Spotify, among others.
According to a map released by Brave Books, upcoming Story Hours include events at the following locations:
- Central Kansas Christian Academy in Great Bend, Kansas on January 20, 2023.
- Williams Public Library in Williams, Arizona on January 25, 2023, from 10 AM to 11 AM.
- South Regional Library in The Woodlands, Texas on January 26, 2023, at 10 AM.
- McBride Memorial Library in Berwick, Pennsylvania on February 7, 2023 at 1:30 PM.
- Hollywood Branch Library in Hollywood, Florida on February 25, 2023 from 2 PM to 3 PM.
- Calvary Day School in Savannah, Georgia on March 22, 2023, all day.
In addition, Cameron has shared that he will be bringing Story Hour to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Detroit and Atlanta. More events could be added in the future.
Originally, when Cameron and Brave Books tried to host Story Hour events at libraries nationwide, they were turned down (or not replied to) by all 50 they had contacted. Yet, all 50 of these libraries had featured Drag Queen Story Hours.
One library – Rochambeau Public Library in Providence, Rhode Island, responded to Brave Books, saying, “We will pass. We are a very queer-friendly library. Our messaging does not align.”
A San Diego public library also declined, replying, “I don’t think that’s something that we would do. Because of how diverse our community is, I don’t know how many people you would get.”
But apparently, even in “diverse” communities like Placentia, California, parents are ready and willing to take their children to these faith-friendly events.
Cameron recently told Fox News that he believes parents have been “‘crying out for someone to push back’ against today’s woke culture.”
“There are many people who are so busy raising their families, going to work — they love this country and they see the values in the country deteriorating and the politics getting corrupted,” Cameron said.
The opposing Story Hour events – one teaching kids about the fruits of the Spirit, and one teaching young children about alternative sexual lifestyles – clearly shows the moral rift that has occurred in our culture. The use of public libraries are emblematic of that.
Libraries are supposed to feature collections of materials, books and other media that are intended to inform, inspire and instill wisdom in its visitors.
What does it say about the state of American society that many are willing to use these institutions of knowledge to teach children about drag queens?
Cameron added the following in his statement to Fox News:
“And I’ve wondered, Well, where is the line when people will finally say, ‘Enough. No more’? And it seems like that line is drawn very clearly at the hearts and minds of their children, especially the little ones … I’m going to lead the charge with story hour.”

Kirk Cameron plans national library tour to promote family values and freedom
After successfully promoting his new children’s book at previously unwelcoming public libraries, actor and writer Kirk Cameron is planning a national library tour.
Cameron’s new book, As You…
Cameron’s new book, As You Grow , tells the story of a seed that grows through “trials and triumphs” into a mature oak tree.
The story highlights virtues such as love, joy and gentleness while developing an overarching theme of freedom. The book is part of the “Freedom Island Saga” from Brave Books, a series devoted to teaching children the value of freedom and its defense.
Despite the innocuous contents of the new book, many libraries initially rejected or ignored the publisher’s request to host a story hour related to the book, Cameron told Fox News Digital . But the events that did take place brought huge crowds.
After Indianapolis Public Library’s rejection, for example, Cameron says the story hour event attracted around 2,500 attendees. The library estimated around 750 people would attend.
“There were thousands of people. We have so many comments and testimonials from people who were actually at the events who counted the people there – and some who were saying that there were more than 2,500 people, that it was more like 3,000 or more,” Cameron said.
Scarsdale Public Library in New York reluctantly rented space to Cameron while making multiple public statements to distance itself from the event. It wouldn’t allow him to host a third event even after the first and second were well attended.
Scarsdale has since scrubbed any mention of the event from its Facebook page .
But the Scarsdale and Indianapolis libraries have widely and proudly publicized controversial “drag queen story hours” on their websites and other channels, which parents – and taxpayers – may take exception to
“When you send men in women’s lingerie and clown makeup and wigs to read sexualized stories to [young children], it seems that’s the line where moms and dads and grandparents are saying, ‘No more.’” Cameron said.
The flood of support from parents and concerned citizens at these events persuaded Cameron to embark on a national tour.
“There are a lot of libraries in America – around 9,000 of them – and we’re going to the ones that seem to be the most in need,” Cameron said. “We’ve been flooded with emails and comments on social media with people pleading with us to come to their libraries.”
Cameron says this contradicted many libraries’ claims that their patrons weren’t interested in the book.
“So now I’m going to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta,” Cameron said, and any other place “where people are crying out for someone to push back and stand up and bring the kinds of values that made this country free and led to its blessings.”
Cameron’s next story hour is slated for Jan. 14 in Los Angeles.

Reviews from Families Like Yours
"These books are great quality! Our kids loved the colorful pictures and enjoyed reading them too! My favorite part as a parent are the games in the back that will help them memorize the lesson they read about in a fun way! We were also grateful that we got a bonus book because it was our first order!"
"We love these books! They easily open dialog about issues facing us today. I struggled to know how to talk about these issues, but it's becoming a lot easier with these fun stories. We can't wait for our next book to come!"
"Bought a yearly Subscription for 12 grandchildren they look forward each month to the new book . They asked for a renewed subscription for Christmas. That speaks volumes in my estimation. Keep up the good books."
"BRAVE books are such a refreshing change from the secular (non-age appropriate) children's books that seem to hit the press and libraries these days! I can finally trust my 5-year-old's reading and entertainment material and source. Thank you!!"
"My kids *love* the BRAVE Books. They want a whole Saga read at bedtime if they could. The characters are fun and lovable. They have fun adventures but still relatable experiences and struggles. As a parent I really appreciate the honorable values and principles taught in these books."
"I'm so thankful for Brave Books. It's nice to have books with God centered values woven into each story."

2023 Review: Kirk Cameron beats cancel culture with children’s books and packed story hours
T o help parents push back against “the storm of wokeism that appears to be sweeping the nation,” Kirk Cameron took his faith-based children’s books to libraries.
After receiving an overwhelming response from two libraries that were part of about 50 that initially rejected his story time request late last year, Cameron expanded his library story time tour , which drew capacity crowds.
KIRK CAMERON REFLECTS ON LOVE AND PEACE IN NEW BOOK: PEOPLE ‘DON’T EVEN KNOW WHY THEY HATE’
“It’s really, really exciting,” Cameron told the Washington Examiner. “I think what we're seeing is going to turn into a tidal wave of momentum, of energy, of conviction, and of action. And it's going to be characterized by getting back to the basics of fearless faith and moral integrity, of replacing apathy and complacency with hard work and activism.”
Cameron has since released three children’s books with the publisher Brave Books . His first book, As You Grow , follows the journey of a tree’s growth and details the value of “biblical wisdom through the seasons of life.”
Cameron released his second book, Pride Comes Before the Fall , on June 1, coinciding with Pride month. His third faith-based children’s book, The Fox, The Fair, and the Invention Scare , was released in October. It details the journey of a young giraffe facing the decision of helping or letting an enemy fail while both compete in an invention contest.
Amid political, ideological, and religious divides, Cameron told the Washington Examiner he desires to help families and children reflect on why there are such divisions.
"We have generations of people hating each other, and they don't even know why they hate each other,” Cameron said. “They're just listening and parading narratives that have come down to them from other people."
Cameron called upon others to consider God’s love a path to peace.
"When we can recognize that God loved us when we were His enemies through our pride and rebellion, that changes us,” the former Growing Pains star said. “And now, we can extend an olive branch to other people.”
“If we get that into the hearts and minds of children now, they can teach us a lesson by loving those who we disagree,” he added. "I've got to do a better job at loving my enemies and extending an olive branch to people who hate me."
In December, Cameron started a first-of-its-kind book fair to counter the large monopoly of book fairs from Scholastic.
"We've decided to go after the head of the snake and find out who is filling libraries and schools with sexually explicit and gender-confusing material," he said. "The head of the snake, the dealer of all of this, is Scholastic Books, the largest producer of children's books in America.”
“We are offering an alternative to these Scholastic book fairs and encouraging schools through parents and school boards to get rid of Scholastic Books, which is literally putting materials out that can only be described as pornographic," he added.
The first-ever SkyTree Book Fair was held at Riverbend High School on Dec. 2 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Cameron noted that the response from parents and families to his faith-based children’s books, story hours, and community events indicates their desire to reclaim cultural impact and resist “woke” influences on their children.

"There's been an amazing resistance to good values at these libraries, but when the parents hear we're coming, they show up by the thousands," Cameron said.
Throughout 2023, Cameron visited around 20 cities, including Houston, Texas; Seattle, Washington; Scottsdale, Arizona; Washington, D.C.; New York City; and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Former child actor turned right-wing political darling and author Kirk Cameron and publisher Brave Books are planning public library events August 5 across the country . They’re calling on supporters to begin planning for these public events in order to “pray, sing, and read BRAVE Books and other books of virtue.” Imagine, they note, filling public libraries across the country with friends, family, pastors, and “your teachers” to turn the nation “back to God.”
The event aims to stoke the moral panic around public institutions like libraries no longer honoring “ viewpoints that are foundational, time-honored, and true ” in favor of “the more radical.”
Cameron has become a name among public librarians since late 2022. After being “denied” access to several public libraries, Cameron took to the media to claim discrimination, then victory, once he secured space in several U.S. public libraries to hold his own story time.

The story is, of course, more complicated.
Cameron, who published Pride Comes Before The Fall , did so through Brave Books, a publisher whose goals are to progress pro-God and pro-America agenda through their books written and marketed for children. Brave Books launched in July 2021, and their “about” notes:
There is an agenda to confuse and demoralize our children and make them hate their country and the values that it was founded upon. To us, it felt like a one-sided battle. That’s why BRAVE Books created an alternative to the current progressive agenda dominating children’s literature. Each book teaches a new traditional value that makes America so special. With the universe and cast of characters we have created as well as the BRAVE Challenges, we are creating a one-of-a-kind learning experience woven into an epic adventure that will live forever in your children’s hearts and minds.
Brave Books’s slate of titles aim to express a right-wing ideology, and each is written by a star within conservative circles. Among the titles are Little Lives Matter, Elephants Are Not Birds, and Unmuzzle Me, Please . Cameron has published two books with the company, and each has come with a “book tour” of story times in public libraries.
Public libraries often offer study spaces and program rooms for individuals to reserve; for the sake of simplicity, they’re often referred to as meeting rooms. In some libraries, the reservations are limited to those with library cards and in others, they’re open on a first-come, first-served basis. It is common that library-created programs take precedence over outside use. A teen program created and sponsored by the library would have priority to use a meeting room over someone outside the organization.
Over the years, meeting room policies have become hot topics in the world of libraries. Can anyone reserve one? Can limits be placed on the kinds of people who have the right to use them? What sorts of uses are protected and which aren’t? These questions all have merit and value, especially when it comes to considering how taxpayer money is being used. A for-profit business setting up an event in the public library meeting room may be in direct conflict with the values of the public library. Libraries articulate that the use of meeting room spaces does not imply library approval or sponsorship; groups cannot in their marketing or advertising note that it is a program being held by the library nor coordinated by it.
This is where the Cameron story sits.
For the release of his first title with Brave Books, the publisher and publisher’s marketing company Amplifi Agency attempted to rent rooms at several public libraries. They claim over 50 public libraries denied their offer to host story times. But this wasn’t true. Scarsdale Library in New York explained what happened: Cameron, Brave Books, and Amplifi thought they were above the policy and ignored the formal process for using a room.
Cameron then claimed victory when he successfully rented rooms at other public libraries. Among them were the Sumner Public Library in Tennessee, where the director was fired for “unkind pushback,” and the Indianapolis Public Library, where he was initially denied . Cameron claimed the denial happened because of his race and the messages in his book; the truth is, of course, far more complicated and related to policies that he and his team chose to ignore.
In May, Seattle Public Library rented a meeting room to Cameron as well. They clarify precisely what is being spun by right-wing media as owning the “marxist public library”:
Brave Books has held similar events with Cameron at other libraries around the country, and some of these events have generated public confusion about the difference between library-sponsored programs and library meeting room bookings made by groups or individuals. There is an important difference: Library-sponsored programs are created and developed by Library staff, often in collaboration or co-design with community or other partner agencies, and they are intended to reflect community interest, meet community needs, and align with Library values. Meeting rooms , however, are provided as a public service that is open and available to everyone equally. We do not choose who gets to use our meeting rooms or what they are allowed to say or believe. That would be government censorship and a violation of the First Amendment. The Library is committed to intellectual freedom , which we believe is essential to a healthy democracy, even when viewpoints expressed do not align with Library values. We have heard from some in the community asking why the Library is allowing this booking, citing the author’s views on abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, and more. Censoring these viewpoints is counter to Library policy and the associated laws that ensure intellectual freedom for all people.
More, they add:
The Seattle Public Library cannot hold this belief only when it is politically convenient – intellectual freedom must be made available to all, consistently, in a free and democratic society. Because these spaces are made available to the public for private use, the Library does not endorse or sponsor private events or the viewpoints expressed at the events. We will, however, coordinate with event organizers and other public agencies as needed to ensure the event is managed well.
Seattle Public Library’s messaging is, of course, in direct contrast to what Cameron and Brave Books claim. The library made their room available and put the onus of safety onto the users, as it should be. As any institution upholding the First Amendment does, they made clear that the space can — and indeed, should — be a place for an exchange of varying ideas.
What gets tricky and is worth emphasizing here is when the Freedom of Speech butts heads against Freedom of Religion and more, where both intersect with the Separation of Church and State. This is why libraries emphasize that groups are responsible for their events and why it is they cannot suggest the library is hosting, sponsoring, or in any way connected to it.
So the August 5 events being mass-coordinated by anyone who wishes to set up a story time at their local public library are a ripe opportunity for all of these elements to clash and for right-wing “activists” to proclaim they’re being discriminated against by a taxpayer institution. Brave Books has developed a resource kit for anyone wishing to put together one of these story times, and they have set up a map for people to drop pins for confirmed events . Doing this inevitably connects the public libraries with Brave Books, and given how few people know the actual intricacies behind library policy — and indeed, with people of this particular persuasion not wanting to care about them — the flames are about to grow hotter.
If you’re a public library worker, now is the time to prepare for what could be either an onslaught or a big nothing burger. In hoping for the latter, preparing for the former will ensure that your library is indeed in a strong position to defend the choices it makes in the interest of its purpose, its staff, and its users. This includes reviewing your policies around meeting rooms and meeting with your legal representation on what requirements you can and cannot make of those requesting rooms (specifically around security — someone like Cameron, via his profile, is a public safety concern but also, knowing that increased law enforcement at the public library is antithetical to the tenants of librarianship and is an impediment for the use of the facility by marginalized individuals, what do you do?).
Take the time to talk with staff about responding to inquires about hosting events such as these and make sure everyone is on the same page. Prepare public statements to address questions and concerns which may arise, too: the statements above by both Scarsdale and Seattle Public Libraries are excellent public relations but more, they’re outstanding examples of libraries being institutions dedicated to facts and transparency.
It might also be worth your time to make sure all levels of library worker knows what’s at stake right now in institutions like them. These are coordinated efforts to prove a point; in the sake of Cameron and Brave Books, it’s to find a “gotcha” with censorship. If you don’t give them what they want, they can cry censorship, even if they themselves are the perpetrators who purposefully subvert the rules and policies.
As we’ve seen throughout the country, truth does not matter to those bent on their messaging and their right-wing values of authoritarianism. But your institution can continue to be a bastion of light by upholding your standards and policies, advocating for First Amendment Rights of all — not just those with the most money and political sway — and you can continue to educate your patrons about why some books get purchased and included in the collection while others, like those published by Brave Books, do not.
Failing to do these things only bolsters the argument that libraries are a drain on public resources and encourages further book bans, programming under false pretenses, and unmitigated attacks on one of the only institutions in the country which serves as a “ third place ,” without any consumerist or capitalist expectations, to anyone who would like to use it.
Cameron and Brave Books do not have good intentions with this. They have ideological plans and the support of well-connected right-wing media.
Libraries deserve better, but resting on the laurels of public perceptions won’t be enough to save them.

Kirk Cameron and a Lineup of Brave Books Authors Host a D.C. Library Event
March 30, 2023
Despite opposition such as LGBTQ activists’ disruption attempts in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and threats from New York City activists to disrupt a scheduled story hour with Libs of TikTok’s Chaya Raichik, the Brave Books “Freedom Island Book Tour” organized by actor and Christian media personality Kirk Cameron, has had a tremendous response, with parents and children coming out for wholesome family entertainment that does not involve bumping, grinding, and dollar bills.

Kirk Cameron and Sean Spicer’s dubious quest to ‘win back Story Hour’
The actor and former Trump staffer came to Washington to spread their values — and promote their books. Few seemed to care.
Behold. Kirk Cameron and Brave Books, a conservative publisher of children’s stories, have teamed up “to win back Story Hour and stand up for truth and Biblical values.”
The evangelical actor, best known for his appearance on “Growing Pains” in a previous century, has been traveling around the country promoting his new Brave picture book, “ As You Grow .”
Cameron markets his Freedom Island Tour as a wholesome alternative to the Drag Queen Story Hours promoted by woke Marxist librarians. Christian patriots, supposedly imperiled and opposed by a godless state, are encouraged to attend not merely to hear children’s books but to demonstrate their allegiance.
Montgomery police to patrol drag story hours after Proud Boys protest
The Brave Books website says, “ It take courage to stand up for truth .” It take grammar, too, but God works in mysterious ways.
Wednesday morning, the Freedom Island Tour came to the Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library in D.C. to vanquish the arrayed forces of evil. But the forces of evil never arrayed. Instead of angry protesters, Cameron and his fellow Brave authors confronted a mostly empty sidewalk. Misinformation purveyor Jack Posobiec, author of “ The Island of Free Ice Cream ,” spoke ominously of the recent “Christian massacre” at a Nashville elementary school. “If we back down,” he warned, “they win.”
At least seven uniformed police officers and several members of a private security team wandered back and forth. Apparently, this is what winning looks like.
Inside the library’s large meeting room, there were more adults than children. The publisher’s staff scurried around trying to divine where everybody might be. It was perplexing: Five hundred people had reportedly attended an earlier stop in Fayetteville, Ark. “Is it spring break?” someone asked.
By 10:30 — starting time — nine children had arrived. One little girl was singing “Jingle Bells.” At least the War on Christmas wasn’t winning.
Brave Books is a brand fueled by a classic right-wing cocktail of aggrievement and triumphalism. Its picture books, populated by talking, well-dressed animals, are a mix of morality tales, Ayn Rand fever dreams and Trump talking points. Cameron’s “As You Grow,” a story about caring for others, is the blandest of the bunch. Posobiec’s book warns children against the specious promises of lupine communists. Chaya Raichik, the Libs of TikTok star , was on hand to read “ No More Secrets: The Candy Cavern ,” her woolly parable about groomers in school.
Twenty-five minutes later, Brave founder Trent Talbot announced they would delay another five or six minutes “because there’s a lot of people trying to find a place to park.” Sure. One woman had a cap that said “PRAY.” It seemed like the only remaining option.
As we waited, Brave Books’ creative director led the children in a game of Simon Says. A little girl suggested they should twirl, but he told her that boys don’t twirl ; they spin . They do, indeed.
When story time finally started, there were about 17 kids in the room, surrounded by a larger number of adults. Cameron speculated that many people didn’t show up because they were afraid. “But you’re brave,” he told the group, though it wasn’t clear what they’d endured except delay.

Holding a replica of the National Monument to the Forefathers at Plymouth, Mass., Cameron delivered a brief homily about America as a once and future theocracy.
Sean Spicer, one of President Donald Trump’s press secretaries, came on last to talk about his new picture book, “ The Parrots Go Bananas .” It’s a story about the dangers of fake news. Clearly, Brave Books is seeking out experts.
As I stood there watching Spicer trying his darnedest to generate some enthusiasm, I imagined he was looking out at that handful of children and thinking, “This is the largest audience to ever witness a story hour — period — both in person and around the globe.”

Kirk Cameron's Anti-LGBTQ+ Children's Book to be Released On First Day of Pride Month
The book is titled Pride Comes Before the Fall .
Christian actor and author Kirk Cameron has announced plans to release his new children's book, Pride Comes Before the Fall, on June 1, the first day of Pride Month. And if the book's title is any indication, it will be wearing its hate on its sleeve.
The Growing Pains actor is known for his long history of anti-LGBTQ+ stances, including claiming that homosexuality is "unnatural, detrimental, and destructive" in a 2012 interview with Piers Morgan .
Pride Comes Before the Fall will be Cameron's second children's book . His first, As You Grow , was published in December 2022 by conservative publisher Brave Books.
Per The Washington Times , Brave Books reached out to more than 50 libraries last year to ask that they sponsor readings by Cameron for his first book tour, only to be denied or ignored by all of them .
Nevertheless, Cameron has found audiences for his readings, renting out public rooms when libraries are not available.
Last Saturday, he appeared at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, N.C., where he gave a preview of Pride Comes Before the Fall. Speaking to the children and parents present, Cameron said, "it’s a story about a tiger named Valor and his partner named Kevin. They need to learn the lesson of humility.”
His next scheduled reading will take place at the Seattle Public Library, which has received criticism for hosting an anti-LGBTQ+ author.
"Many of you are asking why we would allow this booking, citing the author’s views on abortion, LGBTQ + rights, and more," the library said in a statement on Twitter . "We understand these questions. We are committed to intellectual freedom, even when viewpoints expressed do not align with our values."
"We oppose censorship in all forms," they added in a follow-up tweet.

It remains to be seen whether the Seattle reading will be protested, as well as what specific anti-pride content will be included in Pride Comes Before the Fall .
