A stroll in the heart of the most romantic district of the city takes you to the Bateau-Mouche. Take a cruise, dive into the city and enjoy the summer like never before!

With gentle waves, the wind in your hair and breathtaking views of the city and the water, what’s not to love about the Bateau-Mouche cruises? Immerse yourself in its relaxing ambiance and soak up the scenery as you cruise down the St. Lawrence River. Starting out from the Jacques-Cartier Pier in the heart of Old Montréal, this lovely glass-topped boat treats you to picture-worthy vistas of the shoreline and skyline from the comfort of its main deck, upper deck or the beautiful back terrace.

Families will enjoy the fresh air, change of pace and proximity to the water that the 60- or 90-minute daytime cruises offer, not to mention the great backdrop for photos of their own crew.

With sparkling skyline views, multi-course gourmet dinners and the twinkling firmament above them, couples will love the romantic nighttime cruises and its luminous attractions. Day or night, the restaurant and bar can satisfy a wide range of palates and the service is courteous and attentive.

The Bateau-Mouche gets its name from a suburb—“La Mouche”—in Lyon, France, where five of these excursion boats were built in 1863. Here in Montréal, our Bateau-Mouche, which was built by two Quebecers, was inaugurated in 1992 for the city’s 350th anniversary and has since welcomed over one million visitors.

  • ShlD5z 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Worst Dinner Cruise experience ever I had been to the Dubai cruise by bateau and had high hopes from the Montreal cruise too. So I booked the 4 course cruise. Unfortunately, the Montreal cruise was an utter disappointment. Firstly let me talk about the food. It was tasteless and bland. There wasn’t any seasoning. The meat was dry like the winter weather, and also hard. It was difficult to cut through the meat. The mashed potatoes were mixed with skin and brown in colour and most importantly not tasty at all. Even the sauces served with the dishes had split from the oil. Now I will talak about the service. As we sat down at our table we noticed that one of the wine glasses was chipped. Even after letting the waiter know, there was no acknowledgment or apology. We had also shared our displeasure with the food, and there was no response neither an inquiry about it. We were taken aback by this behaviour. In the end I wrote the feedback on the form and left it with the bill. But they gave the bill tray back with the feedback form back to us. I have attached it for your reference. For the amount that is charged the service and quality of food was horrendous. I hope you get your act back together, and don’t repeat this in the future. • Will H 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Not a good value for money. We booked the Picnic cruise package. The picnic was awful, soggy sandwiches, a unknown roll of stuff, took a bite, that was enough, UGH! The embarkation process was chaotic, three different lines, no coordination, much frustration by everyone. Not a good experience for us. We have taken many river cruises, the owners of this cruise business could/should do a lot, lot better. Read more Written June 10, 2023

  • lemonyfreshk 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Sunset cruise is an hour too long and not at sunset My husband and I did the “sunset cruise”. It is two and a half hours long, which in our opinion, was about an hour too long. The riverfront of Montreal is largely industrial and the further out you go, the less scenic it is. We also were disappointed to realize that the sun had set an hour prior to the departure of the boat. The music and light show only came on for the last ten minutes of the boat ride. It would be much nicer if it played for a minute or so interspersed through the ride to break it up. It was also a really funny contrast with the jazz music that was playing the rest of the ride. • Dawna R 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Epic views of Montreal At the Vieux du Port on the waterfront in old Montreal they now have a Ferris wheel just for views of the city. As a Photographer this afforded me the opportunity to capture some panorama shots of the city without having to either climb a hill or take an elevator to the top of a building. Coupled with the transformation of autumn colors illuminating from the trees it made for some nice aerial shots. It is a bit overpriced, yet if you'd like some nice view's it is worth it. • Sissie F 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Good Boat Tour We took the 1-hour boat tour immediately upon our arrival in Montreal. It was a lovely day, and the boat was not too crowded, so we had a great experience. We really enjoyed seeing the city and learning its history from the water. Our guide was excellent, transitioning from French to English almost seamlessly. We had only soft drinks, so we can’t comment on the quality of the food. The server was adept at getting and filling orders and collecting funds. Definitely worth it! Read more Written September 16, 2019
  • ginab716 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Just OK We were looking for something to do along the waterway while in Old Port and thought the hour long boat ride would be a nice way to relax and take in some sights from a different perspective. We boarded the boat and sat on the top level. This area is open to sun and is not air conditioned so be advised on sunny days. There are a few areas for shade on this level but the trade-off is lack of air circulation. Table service for drinks and light snacks is offered. Once our order was taken we actually wondered if we’d get it by the time the boat returned. Service was extremely slow and beware, tip is already included. The port of Montreal is very industrial and the sights the guide pointed out were somewhat lackluster. Overall, the cruise was ok, but we wouldn’t do it again. Read more Written August 26, 2019

Traveler Reviews

You go out on a boat for an hour and a half. Thats about it. What you see is a bunch of shipping containers being loaded at the ports.

When we got inside the boat we were so happy and excited to see how beautiful and clean it was , then I personally asked the so called the guide guy, the one who talks on the microphone to take a picture for us, the guy was texting when we asked him then he looked at us and said ‘ Later’ why not now I’m busy texting. Then after the boat started moving he was talking but couldn’t hear anything he was saying.

Seeing Montreal from the water, including $3 million apartment complexes. The ride was smooth and comfortable.

This was a pleasant break after a long day of walking. The boat was lovely, with an open and covered upper level and a completely covered lower level. Narration pointed out landmarks on both sides of the river and was conducted in both English and French. I did find it difficult to hear at times due to the passengers talking and the overall large number of passengers, though I suppose this can't be helped. I do wish there was an information pamphlet or something so that passengers who want to hear the narration can follow along better. I felt that tickets were a bit overbooked - it was really difficult to get to a window or to the side of the boat at all. Board early to secure yourself a good spot. Notes: Drinks and food available on board. I did not purchase anything. Bathrooms are also available. -Alexandra Balasa

The crew were all very nice - the 60 minute tour missed the Five Roses Sign but was informative - would recommend a longer cruise to see more sites.

I have no complaints about our hour-long boat tour of the port of Montreal. Narration was in French, followed by English. Everyone was polite and prompt. You can purchase drinks aboard (though we didn't). There are wash rooms aboard, too.

Pretty boring boat ride. The staff on the boat was attentive but the Montreal waterfront is not great viewing.

good service and it was fun and chill we went with 4 children there were happy for the ride the food was good

The narrator/guide was the best part of the tour. Our group of 4 had a very nice time even though it poured for a portion of the tour and the visibility was not great.

Complete waste of time and money Only gave an Ishiguro into 4 buildings and the rest of the time it was like being in disco tech. but at 11.00 in the morning Ugh!!
