Today marks the announcement of every METALLICA show booked through 2023 and 2024: Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, METALLICA 's "M72" world tour will see the band playing two nights in every city it visits — with each "No Repeat Weekend" featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The "M72" tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed METALLICA Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the "I Disappear" full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Two-day tickets will be on sale Friday, December 2 at Ticketmaster.com and will include the option of pre-ordering METALLICA 's new album, "72 Seasons" , on vinyl and/or CD. Single-day tickets will be available beginning January 20. For further information including fan club presales, enhanced experiences and more, go to metallica.com/m72-info.
A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to the band's All Within My Hands foundation. Founded in 2017, AWMH 's efforts to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band have raised nearly $13 million — providing $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the US, over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.2 million to disaster relief efforts worldwide.
Citi is the official card of the "M72" tour. Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets in the U.S. beginning Wednesday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. local time until Thursday, December 1 at 10:00 p.m. local time through the Citi Entertainment program.
"72 Seasons" will be released on April 14, 2023 via the band's own Blackened Recordings . Produced by Greg Fidelman with METALLICA 's James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich , and clocking in at over 77 minutes, the 12-track "72 Seasons" is METALLICA 's first full length collection of new material since 2016's "Hardwired…To Self-Destruct" . The album will be released in formats including 2LP 140g black vinyl and limited-edition variants, CD and digital.
Says METALLICA : "We told you about our new album '72 Seasons' . So what's next now that we've escaped the studio? Hit the road, of course! You want a tour, we've got a tour... how about two full years' worth of shows?!?!
"Over the past few years, we have been so inspired by the dedication and family/community vibe of the fans who traveled to San Francisco for our recent weekend celebrations, first in 2019 with the two 'S&M2' shows, followed by last year's 40th Anniversary shows. On top of that, we had a blast being a part of the 2021 Wimmer Festivals when we played two nights in one city, each with a totally different setlist. With all of that in mind, the 'M72' tour was born!
"Starting in April of 2023, we'll be visiting 22 different cities around the world and playing two nights in each city, with each 'No Repeat Weekend' show a completely unique experience: Two totally different set lists with two different bands opening the show each night! Purchase a two-day ticket, and you won't see the same song twice for a total of over 30 songs spanning our 40+ years of being lucky enough to make music. Most of the shows (sorry, not all - we tried!) will be on Fridays and Sundays, so we'll be sure to have lots of extracurricular events for you to hang with fellow METALLICA fans at before the shows kick-off and on the Saturday night in between.
"Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only),and brought to you by our friends at Live Nation , the 'M72' tour also launches a completely different look for us in stadiums — we'll be in the round in the middle of the field. On top of that, the Snake Pit has been relocated to the center of the stage so that fans there will have a complete 360 view of the show. Each weekend offers a variety of Enhanced Experiences, ranging from access to a meet and greet, production and stage tour, food and beverage in the 'Black Box' lounge to early entry into the venue and the aforementioned Snake Pit. The very popular 'Black Laminate' is back, now known as the 'I Disappear Ticket,' and is the ultimate pass for the fan who wants to run away with us for multiple weekends. Grab one of these and attend every show on your continent or in the world! For more information about Enhanced Experiences and I Disappear Tickets, visit wearesuper.co/metallica.
"In keeping with the theme of two completely unique shows each weekend, we're excited to share the stage with different bands each night, including some we have traveled with before and new friends who are joining us for the first time. Signing up for the entire adventure with us are FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH , ICE NINE KILLS and MAMMOTH WVH , and some of you will see PANTERA , ARCHITECTS , GRETA VAN FLEET or VOLBEAT , depending on the shows you attend. All the details are in the listing of dates below and on the individual show pages.
"Two-day discounted tickets will be on sale Friday, December 2, for all shows. Fan Club presales start early on Wednesday, November 30, with various other presales beginning later that day and throughout the week. To request your Fan Club presale code, visit metallica.com/presale-code. If you cannot join us for the entire weekend, single-day tickets will be available starting January 20, 2023.
"A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to the band's All Within My Hands foundation. Founded in 2017, AWMH 's efforts to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band have raised nearly $13 million – providing $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the US, over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.2 million to disaster relief efforts worldwide.
"We cannot wait to embark on this new adventure, play some new music, and spend our weekends in '23 and '24 with YOU!"

Metallica, Pantera and Mammoth WVH Set 2023-24 ‘M72′ Tour Dates
Metallica 's massive 2023-2024 world tour will feature support from Pantera , Mammoth WVH , Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills .
The M72 tour, named after Metallica's newly announced 72 Seasons album, finds the group playing two separate shows in each city without repeating any songs or opening acts. For most North American cities, Pantera and Mammoth WVH will open the first show, with Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills appearing on the second night. Architects take over for Pantera on most European dates.
You can see a complete breakdown of the tour dates and opening acts below.
Metallica will be performing in the round on a newly designed set that relocates the band's fan-filled "snake pit" to the center of the stage. Two-day tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 2 through Ticketmaster , with single-day tickets available starting Jan. 20.
These are the first U.S. dates announced for Pantera's new lineup , which finds surviving classic-era members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown joined by Ozzy Osbourne / Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante. Pantera performs their first show on Dec. 2 in Texicoco, Mexico as part of the Hell & Heaven Open Air festival.

Metallica announces 2023 ‘m72’ stadium tour. we found tickets.
No two nights in a city will be the same on Metallica’s 2023-2024 M72 Tour .
That’s because the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees have vowed there would be “No repeats” on their upcoming 12-city, 24-show North American jaunt where they’re slated to perform back-to-back concerts at huge venues all over the U.S. and Canada.
You read that right.
Night one and night two in each city will be wholly different experiences, all performed in the round at the 50-yard line of major football stadiums.
That leaves us with a lot of questions.
Which night will they perform “Enter Sandman?” How about “ Master of Puppets ?” Will it be at the first or second show they bust out perennial favorite “Nothing Else Matters?”
While we don’t have definitive answers, we do know the best way to find out what Metallica has in store is live .
Also, to up the ante, they’ve enlisted “Night One” and “Night Two” support acts for each stop on the run.
Just a few of those major openers include hard rock veterans Pantera and Mammoth WVH on the first night in each of the 12 cities and Five Finger Death Punch with Ice Nine Kills to close out the short stadium stints on every second night.
James Hetfield and co’s innovative tour kicks off at East Rutherford’s MetLife Stadium on Friday, Aug. 4 , and Sunday, Aug 6 .
From there, they’ll hit major cities like Montreal , Dallas , Los Angeles , Chicago and Minneapolis on Fridays and Sundays.
The tour will wrap up at Seattle’s Lumen Field on Friday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Sept. 1 , in 2024.
A complete calendar featuring all show dates, venues, start times and links to buy tickets can be found here .
For those who don’t want to wait until tickets officially go on sale, you can also snag seats as early as today .
While inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. local time, folks who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can go ahead and purchase on Vivid Seats before seats are officially on sale .
Be aware that Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.
Metallica 2023 tour schedule
A complete calendar featuring all of Metallica’s upcoming 2023 and 2024 tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets for single shows, as well as two-day passes can be found below.
(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout . This calendar does not include all international dates for the “M72 Tour.” )
Metallica opening acts
Here’s a little background on each of Metallica’s opening acts for nights one and two of the M72 Tour.
Pantera are major headliners in their own right as well. Formed in 1981, the group has sold approximately 20 million records worldwide and has received four Grammy nominations over the past four decades. Just a few of their biggest hits include “Walk,” “Cowboys From Hell,” and “Cemetery Gates.”
Mammoth WVH is Wolfgang Van Halen’s rock band. For those wondering, yes, Van Halen is the son of guitar legend Eddie Van Halen. In 2021, the group released its first album, “Mammoth WVH.” Prior to this run, the group co-headlined a tour with Dirty Honey in early 2022.
Five Finger Death Punch , originally from Las Vegas, slays. Active since 2005, the five-member outfit recently toured with Megadeth, The Hu, and Fire from the Gods. They’re not going anywhere anytime soon, either. Lead singer Ivan Moody recently said, “I can’t quit…I ain’t going anywhere,” in an interview with Revolver .
Ice Nine Kills has released six albums since their 2000 inception. In the 22 years since they got their start, the band has made a name for itself with their “horror-inspired lyrics.” Literature fans, in case you were wondering, the answer is yes. The group’s name is a reference to Kurt Vonnegut’s seminal 1963 novel “Cat’s Cradle.”
Metallica new album “72 Seasons”
The upcoming M72 Tour isn’t a vanity victory lap for Metallica.
Rather than rest on their laurels, the group will most likely be debuting tracks from their upcoming “72 Seasons” album set for release on April 14, 2023.
A snippet of “72 Seasons'” lead single “LUX ÆTERNA” can be heard below.
WARNING: It’s loud. Very loud.

Here is Metallica’s statement about upcoming tours in 2023 and 2024:
“Over the past few years, we have been so inspired by the dedication and family/community vibe of the fans who traveled to San Francisco for our recent weekend celebrations, first in 2019 with the two S&M2 shows, followed by last year’s 40th Anniversary shows. On top of that, we had [ Metallica ] a blast being a part of the 2021 Wimmer Festivals when we played two nights in one city, each with a totally different setlist. With all of that in mind, the M72 tour was born!”
However, the band also donate part of the revenue of this tour to the All Within My Hands charity organization.
Every ticket sold will contribute to the band’s All Within My Hands charity. Since its inception in 2017, AWMH has raised nearly $13 million to help and enrich the lives of members of the communities that have supported the band, including $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the United States, over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity and more than $3.2 million to disaster relief efforts worldwide.

Metallica pay tribute to fan who died at their concert: 'We lost a Metallica family member'
The band members said they were touched that the concertgoer "spent some of his final, hopefully joyful, time with us."
Ethan Miller/Getty
The members of Metallica are paying their respects to a fan who died at one of their concerts in Canada last week.
In a somber social media post Wednesday , the heavy metal band acknowledged the death of a man named Lorne, also known by his nickname "Viking," at their Aug. 23 show at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. "We lost a Metallica family member at the show," they wrote.
The post noted that Lorne died "due to health conditions" but did not disclose a specific cause of death. "Leaving the earthly body and onto the next adventure," the post continued. "Very sad when death happens, but we're touched that he spent some of his final, hopefully joyful, time with us."
Metallica also offered "condolences to the family and friends of Lorne 'Viking.'"
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Metallica, Edmonton Police, and Commonwealth Stadium for further comment.
The incident was not the first time a Metallica fan died at one of the band's shows. In 2000, a 21-year-old attendee fell to his death at the groups Baltimore concert during the Summer Sanitarium tour. Over the last two years, fans have also died at concerts by Taylor Swift , GloRilla , and Kenny Chesney .
Metallica are currently in the midst of their M72 World Tour, supporting the 2023 album 72 Seasons . The band has just six more tour dates left on the current schedule — two in Seattle and four in Mexico City, where the tour will wrap on Sept. 29.

Update (August 5): This article has been updated with Metallica’s latest average setlist.
Metallica have become one of the highest-grossing live acts of all-time for good reason: Aside from hosting a staggering collection of classic concerts , the heavy metal band has continued to push themselves as a touring band after performing shows every year for over four nearly uninterrupted decades.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band’s latest massive outing, the M72 World Tour , offers the most ambitious and immersive experience of the group’s career, with each city’s “No Repeat Weekend” visit featuring “2 Nights. 2 Different Sets. 2 Different Opening Acts. In the Round.” The M72 World Tour officially kicked off in April 2023, just behind the release of their eleventh album 72 Seasons , and follows a five-leg circuit that will see the band return to North America in August 2024.
Take a look at a typical Metallica tour setlist and find everything you need to know about the band’s concerts as they return to the U.S. on the M72 World Tour.
Metallica Concert Setlist Info
Metallica have prided themselves on creating a unique setlist for each show since touring their 2003 album St. Anger , but the group decided to raise the bar further for the M72 World Tour , which features two shows per city with no-repeat songs. The stadium-sized venues will also face a new configuration with the band performing on a ring-shaped stage, placing their dedicated Snake Pit fan section directly in the center.
Although each Metallica setlist is unique by design, the band still delivers many of their most familiar, most-played songs, including “Master of Puppets,” “Enter Sandman,” “Seek & Destroy” and “For Whom the Bell Tolls.” The band has also seamlessly installed newer material from their 2023 album 72 Seasons such as the Grammy-winning title track and singles like “Lux Æterna,” “If Darkness Had a Son” and “Screaming Suicide.”
Below, you can find a breakdown of Metallica’s live setlist from a two-night tour stop at Foxborough, Massachusetts’ Gillette Stadium on August 2 and 4, 2024; the performance opened the second North American leg of the ongoing M72 World Tour .

Metallica are currently touring with 64 guitars – and 36 need to be ready to go at any given moment

If you need a new excuse to buy more guitars, try this: Metallica’s M72 world tour includes an arsenal of 64 electric guitars , 32 of which need to be riff-ready at any given moment.
WCCO-TV ’s Jeff Wagner was given a peak behind the scenes as the tour rolled into Minnesota, and the logistics are enormous. The touring crew consists of 156 personnel, which includes 40 steelworkers, with an additional 168 local production hands and 92 truck drivers. 800 locals are also employed to support each specific date.
But the number of six-strings that are brought along for the ride is what really catches the eye. That figure of 64 is split between guitar and bass , with the 36 gig-ready axes equating to 12 instruments per member.
Justifying that inflated figure, tour coordinator Jon-Michael Marino told WCCO-TV : “Across, let's call it 15-16 songs, there's various tunings. There's also things that happen naturally like strings breaking, guitars going out of tune that have to be swapped in the moment.”
Metallica’s current run has found the metal titans stop at each destination city for two nights, and perform two independent sets with no repetition. That’s a grueling run for the musicians and instruments alike, and so a suitably vast army of guitars has been assembled to roll with the punches of such heavy touring.
Adding to that array of guitars – which is likely to include Kirk Hammet’s latest signature guitar , the ESP LTD KH-V , and his iconic Greeny Les Paul – are 6,000 guitar picks , used or given away to the crowd each show, and 25 drumsticks that succumb to the same fate. Per night.
Therefore, across Metallica's five September dates, roughly 30,000 picks will be needed – roughly the same amount this writer probably has down the back of his couch.
To be fair, the construction of the eight towers, wrapped in LED screens, amounts to 36 hours of labor. They each weigh over 14 tons and are nearly 100ft tall. It would seem wrong, then, to tour with just a handful of instruments.
Kirk Hammett raised eyebrows late last year when he proclaimed that, no matter how impressive a player's solos are, they're going to be forgotten by most listener s: “I hate to say it, but non-musicians – who are the majority of the listening world – are not going to remember guitar solos ,” he told Total Guitar .

Watch Metallica Members Cover an Early Rush Classic During Band’s Latest Concert in Edmonton, Canada
Matt Friedlander
Updated:
In recent years, Metallica ’s concerts have featured special interludes where bassist Robert Trujillo and guitarist Kirk Hammett play covers of songs that have a connection to the local city or area where the band is playing that night. At the metal legend’s latest show, on Sunday, August 25, in Edmonton, Canada, the two rockers treated fans to a tune by one of the most famous Canadian rock bands ever— Rush .
Videos by American Songwriter
The dynamic Metallica duo delivered a rocking, abbreviated version of “ Working Man ,” a gem from Rush’s 1974 self-titled debut album. As seen in fan-shot video, Trujillo sang the riff-heavy tune with the help of a lyric sheet placed on a music stand. The performance received a big ovation from the crowd.
[Buy Metallica Concert Tickets]
The rendition of “Working Man” came six songs into Metallica’s show at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, after a version of “Screaming Suicide,” from the band’s 2023 album 72 Seasons.
More About “Working Man”
The song was co-written by frontman Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson. Rush got its first U.S. radio exposure when Cleveland-area rock DJ Donna Halper began playing “Working Man” on WMMS. The airplay apparently helped Rush score its first record deal with a U.S. label.

In a 2015 video Q&A with Rolling Stone, Lee chose “Working Man” as his favorite Rush song to play live. It was the final tune that the Canadian power trio performed at their final concert ever, on August 1, 2015, at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
More About Trujillo and Hammett’s “Doodles”
Trujillo and Hammett’s duo performances at Metallica shows are known as “doodles.” Recent “doodles” have included a rendition of “Sweet Caroline” at the band’s August 4 show in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and an a cappella version of the Mary Tyler Moore Show theme song, “Love Is All Around,” at their August 18 concert in Minneapolis.
Metallica’s 2024 Tour Plans
Metallica will wrap up the current U.S. leg of its M72 World Tour with August 30 and September 1 shows in Seattle. The band also has four concerts lined up in Mexico City, on September 20, 22, 27, and 29.
Metallica also will be performing at the 2024 edition of its Helping Hands benefit concert and auction. The event, which raises money for the band’s All Within My Hands Foundation, is scheduled for December 13 at YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.
Tickets for Metallica’s concerts are available now via a variety of outlets, including StubHub .

Viewpoint: An Oasis reunion tour? Bring on Champagne Supernova and the drama
SINGAPORE – Even if you know nothing about British rock band Oasis, you will know that Noel and Liam Gallagher, the brothers at the core, wrote and sang Wonderwall – and cannot stand each other.
The pair broke up in 2009 after years of sniping, mid-show walkouts and at least one cricket bat to the head.
They have just announced that Oasis will reunite and tour in 2025.
Of course, it’s all a naked cash grab, but then so is every job on Earth. Weirdly, we have issues with greedy musicians but are fine with football or tennis players getting fat contracts. Our values are a bit off, wouldn’t you say?
But a couple of things about the tour stand out. First, Oasis are touring only the United Kingdom and Ireland so far, despite being huge in Asia and the Americas. Second, they aren’t the first people from a shattered band to tour as a unit – these days, logistics are sophisticated enough to handle the most fragile piece of band equipment, the ego.
Oasis are a stadium act. Their heyday was during the 1990s to mid-2000s, so their fans are in their prime earning years. And with streaming and download royalties nowhere near what acts used to earn from CD and cassette tape sales, the Gallaghers have to choose between pride and selling the yacht.
It helps that the music industry is getting savvier about mental health. In 2004, with the release of the documentary Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster, the American heavy metal group quite famously went public with the fact that they saw a therapist to save their friendships.
Oasis, being the lads that they are, will probably never talk about it, but their lawyers, insurance agents and managers will likely be asking them to take along a therapist. The cost involved in a mid-tour collapse makes mental wellness a non-negotiable option.
These factors put together mean that the second the tickets go on sale, men in their 40s from Seattle to Singapore will be buying tickets and booking flights to Cardiff, Manchester and every other city on the tour.
Already, pundits are predicting an influx of millions into the cities hosting the shows – given the age of the fans, it’s likely that the main beneficiaries might be doctors taking care of Gen X throats burnt out from over-enthusiastic singalongs of Don’t Look Back In Anger. From what I know about the song, it’s the closest thing to a football chant that non-football fans will ever experience.
Just as Asian Swifties were expected to fly to Singapore, bands like Oasis now view travelling as the fans’ job, not theirs. In 2024, big acts take up a mini-residency in stadiums.
What’s more impressive is that, unlike Swift, Oasis are a nostalgia act. While they are still hugely popular, their last studio album, Dig Out Your Soul, was released in 2008.
They can pack a two-hour show with hits, no filler.
That is if they can handle all 2025’s 14 gigs without drama. Already, pundits are predicting that a tour-ending spat will break out before the start of the actual tour, or that mid-show, words will be exchanged and once more, one brother will perform a spontaneous percussion solo on his brother’s face.
These naysayers are missing the point, and the point is that Oasis are a lad band. In Singapore, our experience with lad culture is minimal and confined largely to the occasional intoxicated Brit arrested around Clarke Quay for being rough with taxi drivers. In our minds, his behaviour is shocking, but in his mind, it’s Tuesday in Manchester.
Oasis came out of the UK as part of the lad wave that included FHM magazine and Britpop acts like The Stone Roses and Blur.
If one looks at the history of Gallager-on-Gallagher violence, it’s surprising that they broke up in 2009 because they had been butting heads – on at least one occasion, in a literal sense – for years. The fact that they stuck together for so long means they are more resilient than people give them credit for.
With lads, and especially between siblings, insults and the occasional bonk on the head with a tambourine aren’t acts of violence. For them, it’s almost a love language.

Oasis reunion: It was always going to be about the cash — and this deal is truly enormous
Get our award-winning daily news email featuring exclusive stories, opinion and expert analysis
I would like to be emailed about offers, event and updates from Evening Standard. Read our privacy notice .
In the end, there was just too much money on the table. Managers, promoters, festivals and streamers have been attempting to get Oasis back together since they imploded 15 years ago.
Acrimony, insults, brotherly duality and spousal attrition all played a part in the estrangement, but as long as Liam and Noel Gallagher remained compos mentis, there was always the possibility of a professional rapprochement. The same remains true of Pink Floyd, The Smiths and the Sex Pistols, although with the Gallagher brothers the assumption was that a reunion was always going to be about the cash. Which is why their long-term promoters SJM and Live Nation knew that if they kept putting moolah on the mahogany, they would eventually get their way. They have. The negotiations started simply and effectively. Noel and Liam were told they could keep most of the money, allowing the promoters to pick up their percentages around the edges. There is so much money involved — one industry insider says that “this is bigger than anyone expected, it’s huge, globally huge” — that those percentages will be worth their weight in gold. The scale of the deal is enormous, and if things go according to plan — and Liam and Noel can keep their hands off each other and their mouths in check — the reunion tour will extend to the rest of the world for sure. This is truly a global comeback, with global remuneration. This tour could easily generate half a billion dollars before anyone has really started doing the maths.
Over the weekend, as rumours started to swirl , the enormity of the project began to take shape. While Live Nation knew they had orchestrated an extraordinary coup, even they were surprised by the effect the news was having in the music industry. The intense media interest was exacerbated by a series of tweets that did nothing to dampen the anticipation, creating a major global news story.
By Sunday, a rumour that had started the weekend as the result of what still felt like indeed gossip, looked as though it was going to be confirmed by both artist and promoter. Suddenly, to Londoners who love the band as much as any Mancunian, Notting Hill Carnival was but a sideshow. Apparently, there won’t be any new product, and no new single or album to kickstart the campaign, but of course this is dependent on how relationships develop over the next 12 months. If Liam and Noel can properly embrace cordiality then anything is possible. Don’t forget that, when they were at their best, Oasis were one of the best live acts in the world. Both Noel and Liam understood that the noise they made on stage was compounded by the fact they were a brand. “When you’re writing for a band that’s become a brand and a huge f*****g business — and this is only with hindsight, as I didn’t realise this at the time — you’re kind of writing with the weight of the brand hanging over you,” Noel said to me the last time I interviewed him. “The songs have to sound a certain way to sell 70 million records and you’re not going to just throw it all up in the air on a whim.
“When you’re Oasis, Metallica, or Red Hot Chili Peppers, the masses expect a certain kind of thing from you. Most big bands never stray from the path and Oasis had got like that. But don’t get me wrong, we were good it. You know, this is what we do: there’s a certain sound and there’s a certain venue that we play and the music has to fill that venue. No one ever sounded like Oasis because nobody could do what we did. There were loads of bands who tried, but there was only ever one Oasis.”
And they’re about to do it all again. When I interviewed Noel he was promoting a compilation of songs by his band High Flying Birds, but he spoke about Oasis with the fondness of someone talking about a child; he knows how important they were, both creatively and commercially, and no amount of social media disagreements with his brother was going to change that.
Right now, the Oasis reunion is all anyone in the entertainment industry can talk about. There will obviously be a tsunami of requests for tickets, but I wouldn’t worry so much about missing out. They’ll be playing a lot of concerts.
