This Friday, November 3, the quintessential ‘90s boyband New Kids On The Block are releasing The Block Revisited , a revamped version of 2008’s The Block . This was the band’s first album following their reunion and their first new music since 1994’s Face the Music . And if you thought this was going to be the biggest NKOTB news this week, you were wrong.

The biggest news? The band has announced The Magic Summer 2024 Tour, set for June through August of next year. The tour was announced via a promotional video featuring the band, Andrea Barber of Full House fame and the band’s infamous fashion dolls.

The tour is a nod to the band’s original 1990 Magic Summer Tour. The tour was sponsored in part by Coca-Cola and the “magic” in the name tied in with the soda brand’s “Magic Summer ‘90” promotion which featured the creative but ill-fated “magican.” NKOTB’s magic summer was far more successful, running for 22 months (it was renamed the No More Games Tour after the initial summer leg ended) and being named one of the top 10 tours in both 1990 and 1991.

The magic wasn’t just in the name, or in a can, though. Working with celebrated magician Harry Blackstone Jr. the tour’s stage show featured multiple magic effects including levitation, incredible disappearances and reappearances and an explosive ending. The band even won a Magic award for “Best Contemporary Use of Magic in Another Medium” for exposing new fans to stage magic.

There’s no word yet on whether or not we’ll be seeing stage magic with the tour’s return, but there will definitely be magic on stage. Especially with the featured acts being fellow '90s icons Paula Abdul and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

General onsale begins Friday, November 3 at 10 AM local time. Presales will be available starting on Wednesday, November 1 for Fanclub members and CITI card holders.

The New Kids on the Block's new tour, a nostalgic nod to their 1990 stadium tour, will kick off in June 2024

The New Kids on the Block are bringing the magic back to their fans.

On Monday, the band announced they are hitting the road for The Magic Summer 2024 Tour , a nostalgic nod to their record-breaking stadium tour in 1990 . They will be joined by DJ Jazzy Jeff and Paula Adbul — who previously performed with the New Kids on their Total Package Tour in 2017 — on a string of North American shows at mostly outdoor amphitheaters and venues.

With members Joey McIntyre , Donnie Wahlberg , Danny Wood and brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight , NKOTB will kick off the tour at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on June 14. The group then takes their more than 40-date run around the country, with stops in Phoenix, Dallas and Philadelphia before wrapping up in Noblesville, Indiana on Aug. 25.

Along with performing in some of the same venues as they did during New Kids mania in the early '90s, the band also says they'll incorporate some elements from the original tour into their new production.

“The true ‘magic’ of this tour is in the music, the moments and the memories that we get to create — and recreate — with our amazing fans each night," Wahlberg said in a release. “Feeling all the nostalgic feels of the original Magic Summer, with the bond that we’ve shared throughout the years, will make for a most magical time indeed.”

In the spirit of throwbacks and nostalgia, the New Kids followed up their announcement with a new promotional video featuring the five members coming to life as their once-popular line of dolls, which were sold during the height of the boyband's popularity. Along with showing the singers dressed in exact replicas of their dolls' clothing, the clip (see below) also includes a surprise cameo by Fuller House star Andrea Barber .

In addition to the new tour, the New Kids will release The Block Revisited , a special 15th-anniversary edition of their 2008 reunion album The Block , on Nov. 3. The deluxe collection features four previously unreleased songs, additional bonus material and a remix of their single “Dirty Dancing” featuring Joshua, DK and Dino from K-pop supergroup Seventeen .

When it was originally released in 2008, the comeback album featured the hits “Summertime,” “2 in the Morning” and “Single,” as well as collaborations with the Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger , NE-YO and then little-known singer Lady Gaga , who performed on the song “Big Girl Now” and opened for the group on their first reunion tour.

Ticket sales for The Magic Summer 2024 Tour will begin with the fan club presale on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Presales will follow throughout the week, before the general public on-sale begins Friday, Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. See below for a full list of tour dates.

The Magic Summer Tour

The Magic Summer Tour was a 1990–1992 concert tour by the New Kids on the Block to promote their fourth studio album "Step by Step." Covering 100 cities in North America and Europe, it lasted from April 25, 1990 to February 17, 1992.

It was sponsored by Coca-Cola and tied into its "Magic Summer '90" campaign that included the infamous MagiCan flop. At the time, it was the second-highest-grossing tour ever in North America, behind only The Rolling Stones's 1989 Steel Wheels Tour .

The tour had an attendance of 3,291,987 fans in 1990, narrowly beating even The Rolling Stones, whose 1990 tour had an overall attendance of 3,253,563 people. When it continued into 1991, it was retitled the "No More Games Tour" to capitalize on the release of the band's "No More Games/The Remix Album."

The tour was a commercial success, with a total gross of $74 million ($133 million, adjusted for inflation), making it in of the highest-grossing tours of the decade.

During an encore performance of "Hangin' Tough" at the end of the second concert held at Saratoga Springs on June 25, 1990, Donnie Wahlberg fell through a trap door while jumping off a raised platform. He received scrapes and bruises to his chest, neck, and arms. After being hospitalized for a night, he spent a week recuperating and the rest of the band continued the next few concerts as a four-piece act.

New Kids on the Block fans have been “hangin’ tough” for decades and now they’ll get a “magic summer.”

Starting Wednesday, the group is offering a special ticket offer for their Magic Summer Tour, which also features Paula Abdul and DJ Jazzy Jeff at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, on Aug. 16. The deal includes a four pack of tickets for $89, commemorating the 1989 designation of April 24 as “NKOTB Day” in the group’s home state of Massachusetts.

“The cool thing about this tour is that we haven’t been outside under the stars in a long time,” Founding member Joey McIntyre told WTOP. “We’ve been in arenas, so it feels like a throwback to do these what they call ‘sheds,’ these outdoor arenas. Merriweather Post, that venue is beautiful and we are excited, we have a new album coming out on May 17 and of course you play all the hits from back in the day, so it’s a good mix of then and now.”

Born in Boston in 1972, McIntyre was the youngest member of the group, including brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, who met Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood in elementary school. Former New Edition producer Maurice Starr suggested they add McIntyre as a “little brother” figure similar to Michael Jackson in The Jackson Five.

“Donnie was the first guy in there and met Maurice,” McIntyre said. “He finally said, ‘I gotta get more guys,’ so he just went back to his buddies that he grew up with in school, knowing Jordan and John sang in the choir, Danny was breakdancing and just put it together like any teenage band. I was doing theater a couple neighborhoods over. At the time, I was like 12, which is a big difference between 12 and 16, so they wanted that little, little guy.”

After their first album “New Kids on the Block” (1986), their second album “Hangin’ Tough” (1988) was their big breakthrough, going multi-platinum with a title track that became a smash hit and pop-culture staple.

“Timing is everything,” McIntyre said. “It was our fourth single off that album. ‘Please Don’t Go, Girl’ was Top 10, ‘Right Stuff’ was No. 3, ‘I’ll Be Loving You Forever’ was No. 1, then ‘Hangin’ Tough’ came, so it was good timing to have that party record and it had that sports theme to it because originally Donnie, Jordan and Danny wrote that with Maurice and they wanted an anthem for the Boston Celtics and it ended up being an anthem for us.”

Their next album “Step by Step” (1990) featured another hit title track where each of the guys memorably sang a different portion of the song: Danny Wood sang “Step 1,” Donnie Wahlberg sang “Step 2,” Jordan Knight sang “Step 3,” Joey McIntyre sang “Step 4,” and Jonathan Knight closed it out by singing “Step 5.”

“That was a song from a Boston group that Maurice wrote it for [called] The Superiors,” McIntyre said. “When we blew up, it was basically a cover song and we grabbed it. One of the things that was different though was the steps: Step 1, Step 2. … Donnie pitched the idea of going through the steps the way that we did.”

Fans were dismayed when the group disbanded in 1994, but they eventually reunited in 2008.

“We certainly didn’t break up thinking we were gonna get back together in 15 years,” McIntyre said. “We were ready to do things as individuals, we were super young, we wanted to have some freedom after four or five years of nonstop hysteria. It was a lot of fun, but we just wanted some space. … By the time 2008 came around … we finally were ready as a group. … You gotta be at a certain part in your life to look at nostalgia with an open heart.”

Likewise, their doll-collecting, poster-hanging fans have also grown up — now with their own kids.

“It’s the first generation of parents that did anything for their kids, they would drive all over the place, they would buy the tickets, they would wait outside — their parents didn’t do that for them, but our fans’ parents were unbelievable,” McIntyre said. “Now we have three generations in the audience: you’ve got the older mothers who are grandmothers, then you’ve got the moms, then you’ve got the kids. … The idea is to make music that lasts.”

Donnie wahlberg on no more games radio.

Donnie joined the Instagram live by No More Games Radio last night. He announced that the new full-length album was completed a few days ago, but since they have to press the vinyl versions so far ahead of time, it'll be a few months before it's released. He also said there is a collaboration with DJ Jazzy Jeff on that album. Donnie talked about recording The Block, and he said there will still be more things released from "The Block Revisited" including a remix of "Full Service". Then he talked a bit about what to expect for the "The Magic Summer Tour 2024". He also talks about going to other concerts like Depeche Mode, and he answered the question "Who is your favorite New Kid?". Watch the replay below! (Donnie's part starts about an hour in.)

As the new kids on the PGA Tour block, The Myrtle Beach Classic garnered attention with a different approach through YouTube Golf.

They held a 16-player, 18-hole shootout qualifier between eight professional golfers and eight YouTubers. The winner earned a spot in the new PGA Tour tournament field.

Incorporating one of the fastest-growing parts of the game was an incredible idea.

Dubbed “The Q at Myrtle Beach,” the video was filmed in early March, but the winner was unknown until Tuesday when Play Golf Myrtle Beach posted it.

The YouTubers who participated in the shootout were Grant Horvat, Peter Finch, Micah Morris, Luke Kwon, Dan Rapaport from Barstool’s ForePlay Pod, Nic Stubbe, better known as Fat Perez of Bob Does Sports, George Bryan of Bryan Bros Golf and Cole Lantz of BustaJack.

The video went live at 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 23.

Since its premiere, it has amassed over 520,000 views.

Play Golf Myrtle Beach's channel has just 11,000 followers. Most of its videos get 1,000 views or less.

Yet, when they utilized YouTubers, the channel pulled massive numbers—we are talking millions of social media impressions across the 10 videos they made.

Was it a perfect production? No, but it is YouTube. To put it simply, the product met the expectations.

The 90-minute video could have been condensed to make it even more attractive, but the views speak for themselves.

It provided people a look into YouTube Golf and why so many enjoy it.

More YouTube Golf involvement with PGA Tour?

This will likely be just the beginning of incorporating more of this element into the game.

YouTube Golf is part of the future. It is great for golf and growing the game. Having that many eyes on a qualifier is massive. Play Golf Myrtle Beach took a risk, and it paid off.

Overall, it was a smart risk to take.

I give it an A- because some changes could have been made. The videography could have been better, and the editing could have been cleaner.

Regardless, the idea should change people's perspective on golf content can be consumed and how vital YouTube Golf will be for the longevity of the game.

No, it is not traditional, but these guys love the same game as traditionalists — they just do it differently. Look at Bryson DeChambeau and how he has elevated his brand by creating a channel.

He understands the value of YouTube for not just his personal brand, but how it can benefit the game as well. DeChambeau has even had some of the YouTube participants on his channel.

Coming out of the pandemic, golf saw in explosion in popularity. Much of that has been at younger age demographics. Those same demographics utilize social media like YouTube to consume content and there are tens of millions of them.

The PGA Tour should examine this campaign and not write it off. Leadership should find ways to incorporate YouTube Golf to attract more young viewers.

Once again, Masters television ratings were in decline on CBS. There is a growing shift in how people consume media and sports. It is incumbent upon the PGA Tour and governing bodies of the sport to do what is best for the future of the game.

For those fans who are still against YouTube Golf, buckle up because it is not going anywhere.

YouTube Golf is not a fad. These guys produce quality golf content, and they deserve respect. Entertainment is part of golf, and they give it to the masses.

Embrace them and check out their content because this element of the game will need to be included for golf to continue to thrive.

Willis Dominant as Comeback Bid Falls Short in Softball's 2-1 Loss to No. 2 Sooners

ORLANDO – Topping the first seven-inning perfect game in UCF softball’s program history is a high bar to clear, but in what could possibly be the final home start of her Knights career, Sarah Willis might have done it.

The senior right-hander turned in an exceptional performance in the circle for her squad in game two of UCF’s weekend series against the three-time defending national champion, and second-ranked, Oklahoma Sooners, but a late comeback bid fell just short in the Knights’ 2-1 loss Saturday afternoon.

Willis set the tone early and didn’t let up, going the distance while yielding just the Sooners’ two runs on two hits with five strikeouts. The effort marked her eighth complete game of the season and 18th of her career, all of which have come since she joined the Knights prior to the 2023 season.

The two hits allowed by Willis also represented a season-low for the Sooners, who hadn’t been held to two or fewer hits since four LSU Tiger pitchers combined to hold Oklahoma to two hits in a 3-0 Sooners win in Baton Rouge April 11, 2023.

Willis also became the first pitcher to throw a seven-inning complete game with two or fewer hits allowed to Oklahoma since Texas’ Hailey Dolcini handed the Sooners their first loss of the season, and snapped a then-40-game Oklahoma win streak, in Austin April 16, 2022, a game the then-No. 18 Longhorns took by a 4-2 final score.

“Sarah threw a phenomenal game. I’m really proud of how she led our team and put us on her back. She’s got some of the best stuff in the game, she’s fearless, and she’s one of the hardest-working two-way players I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. She’s getting better every day in her time here.”

Willis hit the ground running in her latest outing, bringing a perfect game into the fourth inning before Oklahoma struck for its two runs on the strength of a solo home run by Tiare Jennings and an Ella Parker RBI double.

The Knights right-hander breezed through the top of the first inning with the first of her five punchouts accompanied by a pair of groundouts, and induced two more outs on the ground before adding her second punchout in the top of the second inning.

Her third punchout was sandwiched between a flyout and her fifth groundout in the top of the fourth, and after the Sooners broke through with their two runs with one out in the fourth, Willis stranded Parker with a flyout to center fielder Johneisha Rowe.

“I was working my pitches, working with my catcher Ashleigh (Griffin), and letting the defense work. I still had (four) walks, so minimizing those was crucial for me today. Really mixing my pitches and throwing my changeup alot to keep them guessing and off-balance, and playing my game. I had a good time being out there.”

The right-hander worked around an error to throw a bounce-back scoreless fifth inning, tiptoed around a pair of walks in the sixth, and sealed her dominant outing with her fourth and fifth strikeouts of the day in the top of the seventh.

The Knights’ offensive corps, which had been quieted by Sooners left-hander Kierston Deal through six innings, mounted its final comeback try in the home half of the seventh inning.

Jada Cody reached base to lead off the frame on a fielding error by second baseman Avery Hodge, and after back-to-back fielder’s choice groundouts saw Kennedy Searcy on first base with two outs, Ball-Malone opted for graduate transfer Sona Halajian to come off the bench.

The San Anselmo, California, native missed a game-tying two-run home run by a matter of feet, but still drove in the Knights’ lone run with a high-arcing RBI double that eluded the catch of Oklahoma left fielder Hannah Coor up against the wall.

“My approach was just to see a good pitch, be on time, and I went up to the plate wanting to have Sarah’s back. She threw an absolutely amazing game like she does pretty much every game for us. When I hit it, I knew the wind was blowing that way. I thought it had a little more carry, but it scored a run.”

The double marked Halajian’s fifth pinch hit of the season, pulling the senior to a three-way tie with teammate Savannah Adams and Oklahoma State’s Katie Lott for second-most in the Big 12 Conference this spring.

“It’s really just about us working earlier and getting on them early,” Willis continued. “We did, but scoring early in the game so it doesn’t always have to be in the seventh inning. Against great teams like that, they’re not going to let you come back in the seventh every time. We just have to keep working and fighting, and find those runs earlier.”

The Knights look to send their seniors off with a win on Senior Day in the series finale against the No. 2 Sooners, with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. from the UCF Softball Complex. The contest will be streamed and televised nationally on ESPNU.

2024 NBA playoffs bracket, schedule, games today, scores: Lakers avoid the sweep, OKC and Celtics both win

The nba playoffs are underway with 16 teams in the hunt for the larry o'brien trophy.

The NBA playoffs are underway, and the action has never been hotter. The Magic have overcome a 2-0 series hole to tie things up at 2-2 with a 112-89 win over the Cavaliers on Saturday. Then, the Oklahoma City Thunder took a commanding 3-0 series lead over New Orleans, while the Celtics jumped ahead to 2-1 over the Heat. To close out Saturday, the Lakers finally got a win over the Nuggets to avoid a sweep.

On Friday, the third-seeded Timberwolves gained a 3-0 series lead after their latest 126-109 win at the Suns. They are just one win away from the second round.

Elsewhere, the Pacers protected their home court with a thrilling 121-118 win in overtime as Tyrese Haliburton hit the game-winner with a few seconds left to beat the Bucks, and in Friday's other playoff game, the Mavericks walked away with a 2-1 series lead after they topped the Clippers 101-90.

Another four games will close out the weekend, with the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers playing Game 4. The Wolves, Suns, Bucks, Pacers and Mavs will also be in action throughout the day.

The first round of these NBA playoffs will run through May 5.  Here's how CBS Sports experts are picking their brackets .

The Pelicans are just 22-20 at home this season, compared to 28-15 on the road, so backing New Orleans at Smoothie King Center without its leading scorer in Williamson doesn’t fill me with confidence over the course of a full game.

However, the 1st half of Game 3 is usually a good spot for home teams that are down 2-0 in a series. We saw the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers both cash their 1st-half moneylines Thursday, and a veteran team like New Orleans should be able to bounce back as well.

BET PELICANS 1ST HALF ( -145 ).

Against the spread

While I prefer laying -145 with the 1st-half ML, which also gives us the ability to push on a tie, the spread is low enough that the Pelicans will likely cover it if they’re leading after the 2nd quarter. If you’re uncomfortable risking $145 to win $100 on the 1st-half ML, then the spread may be your better option.

LEAN PELICANS 1ST HALF -1.5 ( -110 ).

Betting the Under has been profitable in recent meetings between these teams. The Under has also gone 7-4 this season when New Orleans is a home underdog, as the added pressure from being outmatched seems to motivate the Pelicans on the defensive end.

Caleb Williams is officially a member of “Da Bears.”

On Thursday, April 25, the Chicago franchise selected the Heisman Trophy-winning USC quarterback with the first pick in the NFL Draft.

Williams joins a Bears team that went 7-10 in 2023; in order to bolster their roster heading into 2024, coach Matt Eberflus’ squad added Pro Bowlers D’Andre Swift and Keenan Allen over the offseason.
