How to Enjoy a No Contact Road Trip

Many people are starting to plan road trips again. But how do we travel with so many uncertainties, fears, and unknowns? It is possible to take a road trip in 2021, make memories and stay safe at the same time. Here are some tips to help you enjoy and experience a safe no-contact road trip.

Reset Expectations

Road Trips in 2021 are not going to look the same as a road trip you took in the past. Museums may still be closed or operating on limited hours; restaurants may or may not be open to dining in and may only offer takeout service. Amusement parks and city transportation may not be options for this year. But that does not mean that your road trip is going to be a bust. You just have to reset your expectations and come to understand that different isn’t bad, it’s just different .

A no contact, social distancing road trip is not something to dread; instead, it is an opportunity to create memories and experiences like never before.

Embrace Small Towns

On a socially distant road trip, you may end up skipping the big cities and focus on small-town adventures. In small cities, it is easier to find the city parks, memorial statues or roadside attractions. There are fewer cars and people and reduced chances of getting involved in any traffic or crowds.

Remember to be considerate of others when you are driving through small towns.

  • Wear a mask
  • Use a credit card when possible so you don’t have to touch cash
  • Limit interactions
  • Wash your hands
  • Use hand sanitizer

Pack a Picnic Lunch

Physically distant, no-contact road trips are the perfect opportunity to pack a picnic lunch. There are picnic tables all over the United States. Whether you stop at a rest area, visitors center, historical monument, or small city park, you can find picnic areas everywhere. Stock up on all your lunch food before you leave from home and you will be ready to eat across America.

Hint: Remember to buy a bag of ice when you fill-up the gas tank so your sandwich meat, mustard and mayo will stay cool!

Remember Human Interaction

One of the best parts of a road trip across the United States is meeting the locals that call these areas home. But with social distancing and masks it is harder to share stories and get to know people. This doesn’t mean we forget about human interaction it just means we have to be more selective. When we check in to a hotel, I typically talk to the hotel staff and ask them for hotel recommendations and local places to explore. A no contact trip is slightly harder but I still value the conversations with the hotel staff. Remember that their work life is more stressful than normal so treat them with respect and remember to smile – even though you are wearing a mask.

Travel Responsibly Without Fear

One thing that many travelers are dealing with right now is fear. One way to minimize this is to designate a friend or family member back home who can keep an ear to current events so you can turn off social media and unplug from the news while you are on the road. If things take a turn for the worse and you need to return home quicker than expected, they can contact you. This will allow you to make memories and live in the moment while you are traveling.

One of our favorite music groups sings a song that has been on loop in my head for the past few weeks:

Memories are made up of moments like this The choices we make and the chances we miss One day the memories are all that there is So how do you wanna remember this? Road trips should be enjoyed in the moment. Take lots of pictures and be present. The memories you make on these vacations will last forever. Sure, it’s a little different in 2021 than what we’re used to, but don’t miss out on the opportunity to travel and make memories with your family! Time won’t stop just because of uncertainties in the world. Just take some extra precautions and build memories!

No Contact While On Vacation? Don’t Freak Out Just Yet

Matt Davis

  • | Updated On November 15, 2023

Going on vacation is supposed to be fun and relaxing. But what if your partner or loved one suddenly stops contacting you? No contact from your partner during their trip can cause anxiety.

No Contact While on Vacation

You start worrying – are they okay? Did something happen to them? Or are they ghosting you? A million thoughts race through your mind.

Try not to stress too much. There are many harmless reasons for no contact during vacations. Of course, in some cases, lack of communication can signal problems in the relationship. This article will explore the common reasons behind incommunicado partners on trips. You’ll also learn constructive ways to cope with the situation.

First, let’s look at some benign explanations for no contact while on vacation. Understanding these can help you stay calm. Then we’ll go over potential red flags that warrant concern. Finally, you’ll get tips to deal with an unreachable partner in a healthy way.

The goal is to avoid overreacting. With insight into why your loved one may not be calling or texting, you can keep your cool. Trust your partner and your bond unless given definite cause not to. Approach the situation positively, without making assumptions.

Reasons Why No Contact While On Vacation Is Nothing To Worry About

Before assuming the worst, consider some of the harmless explanations for no contact during vacations. Chances are your partner has a perfectly valid reason for being unreachable. They likely want to contact you but can’t due to circumstances beyond their control.

1. Network and Connectivity Issues

Spotty cell service is one of the most common reasons for no contact on vacations. If your partner is backpacking through remote areas or on a cruise, they may have no signal at all. Even in developed places, buildings like hotels can block service.

Don’t panic if your boo can’t call or text – they may simply be in a connectivity dead zone.

2. Phone Malfunctioning

Phones are fragile, fickle things. Dropping your device in the pool or leaving it baking under the sun can cause serious glitches. A malfunctioning phone is extremely frustrating when traveling.

Before assuming the worst, consider your partner’s phone may have broken or started acting up. This could prevent them from getting in touch no matter how much they want to.

3. Phone Battery Died

Let’s not forget the classic dead phone battery. If your loved one is off the grid and power sources are scarce, their phone may have run out of juice. Drained batteries cut people off from contact just as much as no service.

Don’t take it personally if your boo disappears for a bit. Chances are their phone simply went kaput. They’ll recharge and reconnect when they’re able.

4. Lost Phone

Phones get lost all the time, especially when traveling. If your partner is scrambling to find their misplaced device, contacting you will be a low priority. Losing a phone is hugely stressful and inconvenient. All their data, connections, and access to help go out the window.

Don’t add pressure by getting upset about the lack of touch. Be supportive if your boo’s phone fell victim to vacation mishaps.

5. Tight Vacation Schedule/No Spare Time

Some vacations are go-go-go with packed sightseeing schedules. If your loved one bounces from museums to shows to tours, they may have little free time. Don’t take it to heart if they can’t chat for hours every day.

When exploring a new place, phones take a backseat. Trust that they’ll reach out when their vacation with a tight schedule allows breathing room.

6. Solo Travel Requires Concentration

Traveling solo commands focus on navigating safely. Your partner’s attention will be consumed with maps, transportation, checking in, etc. They only have themselves to rely on, so getting around requires vigilance.

Resist calling constantly just to check-in. Part of solo travel’s purpose is building independence. Offer support from afar but give your boo space to adventure on their own.

7. Too Tired to Call

Vacations can be mentally and physically draining. If your partner is hitting the ground running from morning to night, they may crash immediately when stopping.

Don’t feel slighted if they’re too pooped for a chat at the end of an active day. Let them recharge with rest. There’s nothing personal about being too tired to talk.

8. Different Time Zones

Time differences between destinations can hamper communication when your partner goes on vacation. Your availability may rarely overlap, making contact tricky.

If you’re up when your partner’s asleep, and vice versa, don’t worry. Time zones make constant contact impractical. Appreciate any texts or calls you do get across the time gap.

9. Digital Detox

Some vacations intentionally avoid technology, like off-the-grid nature trips. If your loved one is detoxing from devices, they won’t be reachable.

This is healthy and doesn’t mean they’re ignoring you. Thank them for the occasional update they can manage. When the digital cleanse ends, your connection will be stronger.

10. Forgot to Call

Honestly, your partner may have just forgotten to check-in. Vacation fun can make people lose track of time. If your boo gets engrossed in activities and doesn’t call one day, cut them some slack.

Gently remind them you miss hearing their voice. Chances are a slipped mind, not diminished feelings, caused the lapse.

Reasons Why No Contact While On Vacation Can Be Worrisome

Unfortunately, no contact while on vacation could signify that your partner is facing real obstacles. Don’t panic, but be alert to potential red flags.

1. Bad Weather or Terrain

While usually harmless, lack of contact could signal your partner is facing challenges. Bad weather or rugged terrain can make communication difficult. If they are driving in heavy rain or hiking remote trails, their attention will be consumed with safely navigating conditions.

Don’t panic, but do express concern and ask if they need support.

2. Met Someone New

Vacations present opportunities to meet new people. Having fun with a new friend group doesn’t necessarily mean your relationship is threatened. Keep trust in your bond and avoid jumping to conclusions.

However, take note if your partner seems withdrawn, sneaky, or no longer acts as invested. Subtle changes in behavior after a trip may indicate a new romantic interest.

3. Fallen for Someone New

The worst-case scenario is your loved one coming home announcing they’ve fallen for someone new. While devastating, approach this with empathy rather than anger. Few people intend to develop vacation flings; attraction can surprise us.

If your partner genuinely connects with someone, forcing the relationship will only breed misery. Though painful, sometimes, letting go with grace is healthiest.

4. In Danger

In rare cases, a loved one’s lack of contact during a trip indicates peril. Natural disasters, serious injury or illness, and crime could prevent them from calling for help.

Don’t ignore the absence of communication when there’s a risk of danger. Actively monitor news on the location and check with local authorities. Pray for the best, but prepare for the worst by taking action. Your proactivity could save their life.

5. Fallen Sick

Getting ill while traveling can be scary and isolating. If your partner catches a bad bug, contacting anyone will be a low priority. Don’t take it personally if they go quiet due to sickness.

Focus positive energy on hoping they get proper care and recover quickly. Offer to help in any way you can, whether providing healthcare contacts in the area or simply cheering them up.

6. Vehicle Trouble

Breaking down in an unfamiliar place is hugely stressful. If car trouble strands your partner, they’ll be fully consumed with figuring out repairs. Limited phone access could also prevent calling for help.

Have patience and compassion if your boo disappears due to transportation issues. They need support, not guilt over not contacting you.

7. Ghosting

The most hurtful reason for no communication is deliberate ghosting. Some selfish people use vacations as an opportunity to disappear from relationships.

If this happens frequently, your partner may be pulling away on purpose. Don’t waste effort chasing someone who treats you with that little respect. You deserve better than being ignored.

8. Staying There Long Term

Finally, abstaining from contact could signal your loved one has decided to extend their getaway. Maybe they took an impulsive job or found a new lover to shack up with.

If your boo stays radio silent after the agreed return date, they likely choose to remain away. Don’t sit anxiously waiting – move forward with your own life. Their actions have shown where you stand.

What To Do When A Loved One Is Out Of Contact While On Vacation

When your partner goes dark on vacation, it’s natural to get anxious. But how you handle the situation can make all the difference. Here are some tips for dealing with an unreachable loved one healthily.

Don’t Overthink

It’s easy to let worries spiral when your partner is out of reach. But for the sake of your sanity, try not to overthink. Jumping to the worst-case scenario will only cause needless stress.

Stay busy and distracted until you can get reasonable explanations from your loved one. Obsessing never improves any situation.

Don’t Call Repeatedly

When insecure, our instinct is often to bombard our partners with calls or texts. It’s tempting to keep checking in if contact feels insufficient. But avoid blowing up their phone while they’re trying to vacation.

Desperation and neediness are not good looks. Be confident your relationship can handle some space. Plus, too much smothering may push them away.

Don’t Do Anything Rash

When hurt or confused by your partner’s silence, it’s tempting to act out. But avoid doing anything rash you may regret. Impulsive reactions like vicious texts, cheating, or deleting them off social media won’t help.

Take time to calm down and process the situation rationally. Take constructive steps once you have clarity.

Ask if They’re Upset

Once your loved one is back in contact, have an open talk. Ask if they went quiet due to being upset with you or the relationship. There may have been a misunderstanding or unresolved conflict bothering them.

Handle this conversation gently without accusations. The goal is to understand their feelings and clear the air.

Contact Friends

If you’re truly concerned for your partner’s well-being, reach out to their friends. See if anyone in their inner circle knows about their trip or has heard from them since they went on vacation.

You can also contact the authorities if you suspect real danger. Involve others discreetly without stirring up drama prematurely. Discern when concern is justified.

Monitor Social Media

Social media can provide clues if your partner is okay. Check their recent posts and activities on vacation. Signs like regular photo uploads mean they’re alive and well.

No activity could suggest they have no service or took a tech break. Just don’t stalk constantly – give them space.

Check News and Maps

Research the area your loved one is visiting, just in case. Read local news for incidents that might have affected travel plans.

Consult maps to see how remote the location is. Knowledge reduces imagination running wild. But be careful not to fixate and panic unnecessarily.

Send a Text

A simple text saying you hope they’re having a nice trip may be enough. This reminds them to keep in touch at their next chance without being overbearing.

Keep the tone light without guilt-tripping. You could ask about travel highlights or send a sweet emoji.

Set Communication Boundaries

For future trips, discuss expectations around communication while on vacation beforehand. Compromise on reasonable amounts of check-ins that satisfy both parties.

Maybe you should agree on how often you text or call each other. Setting boundaries prevents misunderstandings. Just remember – absence makes the heart grow fonder. Trust your bond.

Final Thoughts

In sum, people go on vacations to relax and recharge. Lack of contact doesn’t necessarily signal relationship troubles. Vacations with tight schedules limit chances to call home. Remote locations often have no cell service. Technical issues can also disrupt communication.

Before assuming the worst, consider benign reasons your partner is unreachable. Of course, use judgment if signs point to real problems. Discuss expectations for future trips to prevent misunderstandings.

When apart, stay occupied and trust your bond. They will contact you as soon as possible. Remember – distance is the test of love. With understanding and patience, your relationship can withstand a vacation with no contact.

There's no magic solution. They probably have thousands of customers in your situation and little manpower to deal with them. Travel insurance is probably your best bet.

The no-contact rule: the most effective way to move on from an ex.

Monica Parikh

The no-contact rule refers to cutting off all contact with an ex following a breakup, and it's the best method for moving on from an ex.

No contact should last for a minimum of 60 days, and it includes no texting, no calling, and no interacting on social media.

It can feel like an extreme move when you're still working to get over a breakup , but the truth is that cutting off contact with an ex is the fastest, most effective way to truly move on.

Here's everything you need to know about how no contact after a breakup works:

The no-contact rule will not help you get your ex back

Some people try to use the no-contact rule as a form of manipulation (i.e., a way to get your ex to miss you so much, they want you back). But despite what some people will tell you on the internet, no contact is not particularly effective for getting an ex back.

Just because some people have exes who reached out to them after a period of no contact doesn't mean this will be the case for everyone.

Moreover, trying to reduce your former partner to a formula or trying to control their behavior to meet your own needs is not very empathetic. Attempting to use the no-contact rule this way may be a sign that you have your own inner work to do that's a barrier to your relationship working.

This strategy can also be unhealthy for you because it keeps you psychologically attached to a past relationship, slowing down your healing process.

Instead, the no-contact rule should be about  you  and helping yourself move on from your ex.

It's an integral tool of self-empowerment . You want to get to the place where you're able to say, "With or without you, my life is going to be amazing."

It will suck

The vast majority of people use love as a drug. They get "high" from an external source—another person's presence and approval.

The withdrawal from that feeling that comes with heartbreak after a relationship ends (and the fear that they may not know how to be happy on their own) can be terrifying.

Have faith. You will feel sad. You will grieve. But by using the no-contact rule, you will also regain strength, self-esteem, confidence, and empowerment. You also differentiate "wanting" a partner from "needing" one.

Practice a lot of  self-care  after your breakup, and make an effort to avoid even seeing your ex on social media, which will make the healing process even harder. (Blocking your ex completely on social media may be necessary for making no contact really work.)

Share this journey with someone who "gets" it. This might not necessarily be your best friend, mind you.

A strong teammate will fortify your flagging spirits when the struggle is real. A bad teammate will add to your headaches and problems.

RELATED: How To Finally Let Go Of Your Ex (And Why It's So Hard)

Your silence speaks so much louder than any words could

Ending a long-term relationship is the worst, especially if your partner breaks up with you by text or another hurtful way.

In such cases, your ex likely knows they have behaved badly. They may even be waiting for you to scream or beg or demonstrate a meltdown on social media, so they can label you "dramatic." If you do so, you'll confirm that their decision was the right choice.

No contact changes the game. It's unpredictable. Without you telling your ex that they're wrong, they actually have to sit in their own discomfort...and think...and then lament.

Meanwhile, you demonstrate that you're a class act, allowing your ex to realize that they've lost someone pretty great.

You will develop important emotional skills

The loss of a relationship often results in more free time. Use this time wisely to develop emotional intelligence so you have a greater chance of success (with or without your ex) down the road.

In my work coaching women and men, 99% of the problems I see result from a lack of boundaries. "No" is a short word that doesn't get uttered often enough. If your choice is between being liked or being respected, always choose the latter.

No contact is a good time to develop better boundaries , increase your self-esteem , and abandon dysfunctional behaviors you learned in childhood .

When you assess where you made mistakes and correct those behaviors, you have a much better probability of success in your next relationship.

RELATED: How Long It Should Really Take To Get Over A Breakup

You will rediscover forgotten sources of happiness

Single people often have amazingly vibrant lives—they go out dancing, write poetry, and go on road trips with their friends.

In a relationship, many people dive into a black hole headfirst. They get comfortable. They stop flirting and start fighting. They abandon their old friends—and an essential part of themselves.

No contact gives you the time and energy to pursue your goals, big and small. Get the MBA. Plan a trip to Morocco. Flirt with the cute guy in Muay Thai class.

You'll soon realize that although your life without a partner is different, it's just as sweet . As you start smiling and laughing again, you radiate positive vibrations. In no time, you'll have a host of new suitors because the world is abundant, after all.

You'll be able to define your nonnegotiable values

The vast majority of people look for a relationship the wrong way. They chase after attractiveness, money, or physique. If you want lasting love—the kind that gets better with time—you have to think differently. What are your values? What are your must-haves?

Here are some of my personal favorites:

  • "I date partners who say 'I'm sorry' and own up to their mistakes."
  • "I date partners who believe in mutuality—where there is equal give and take."
  • "I date partners who believe in commitment and communication."

If a recent breakup has left you reeling, think about what values you and your partner were missing.

Make those values nonnegotiable in your next relationship.

No contact will bring you back to reality

In a relationship, sex loads your body with oxytocin and dopamine —the body's "feel-good" chemicals. Euphoria often has you mired in fantasy.

The no-contact rule is a detox that brings you back to reality after your relationship ends. You see your ex not for what you wish them to be but for who they are. Are they selfish? Cowardly? A liar? An emotionally immature narcissist ?

As your eyes open to reality, you can make a better decision about when a partner is really a good bet for the long haul. Long-term commitment is no joke, so you want a healthy and stable partner for the ride.

No contact will make you stronger, faster

When you stop pinning your happiness on your partner, you realize it's just you in the world. No one will save you from your demons.

It's your job to figure out why you were born and how to make your life rich with meaning .

This work is hard. It's often painful. But it's the place where life begins and starts getting really rich, rewarding, and fun.

You feel younger and wake up excited for the tasks that lie ahead.

The takeaway

If you've been bawling your eyes out or hanging in limbo, it's time for radical change. It may feel like a bold move at first, but cutting off contact with an ex through the no-contact rule is the fastest way for you to move on and reclaim your power.

How to Master the 'No Contact Rule' — the Ultimate Breakup Tool

It's truly the most effective way to move on from an ex.

no contact trip

  • Write a letter to yourself
  • Give yourself room to grieve
  • Make a list of the bad things your ex did
  • Start a self-care list
  • Have a breakup buddy
  • Work on yourself
  • Start a new hobby
  • Give yourself some structure
  • Change your surroundings
  • Plan something fun

DEAR DR. JENN,

My girlfriend and I broke up recently, and I know it's for the best long-term, but it feels physically impossible not to still text her. I want to be friends, but I know it's probably not healthy right now until I've really moved on. How do I stop the urge to find reasons to contact her? How do I move on? — Needing a Love Detox

DEAR LOVE DETOX,

You are onto something. Too many people try to remain friends with an ex way too soon. The litmus test to figure out if you are ready to be pals is the following question: If your ex were to tell you that she had met someone great and was madly in love, would you be happy for her and excited to meet that person?

The answer is yes, you're ready to be friends. Until then, you cannot have a true friendship. There will always be an agenda, whether it's to show your ex that you are winning the breakup or a secret desire to get her back. Neither one allows for a healthy friendship.

So how do you move on? The no-contact rule. I believe that no contact for six to twelve months is the best way to detox from the relationship and figure out if they are someone you really can and want to have a friendship with. (Sometimes, the best thing that you can do is to not only step away from your ex, but also from dating entirely and go on a dating detox .)

When it comes to cutting off contact post break up, most people struggle. It takes enormous emotional discipline not to reach out to someone who has been your touchstone for many months, or even years. The most common complaint that I hear is, "They were my best friend and I need that support." Most people don't want to lose the connection, encouragement, and friendship that their partner once supplied. But when you have shared a sexual attraction and a bed, most people need some space before they are able to have a true friendship.

Here's the thing, though: Taking time away from that person should not be used as a manipulation or a strategy to get them back. It is a way to preserve your own mental health and allow you to heal and recover. After a breakup, your most important developmental task is to let go of the bond that you previously shared with that partner. It is nearly impossible to accomplish that while hanging out with them, texting, or DMing each other memes.

I understand that following the no-contact rule is easier said than done. Here are a few tips to help you to maintain your distance.

1. Write a letter to yourself.

Write a letter to read in moments of weakness. This should include your motivation for ending the relationship or why you know you should stay away from someone who ended it for you. This kind of letter should remind you of the repercussions that will occur if you reach out and also provide motivation to keep up the no-contact rule.

2. Give yourself room to grieve.

The end of a relationship is a loss, even when it is the right thing. When a relationship ends, we go through the same stages of grief and loss that we do when there is a death. These stages are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. We don't necessarily go through them in any specific order, and we don't graduate from one before we move on to the other and never look back. It's very possible to alternate between two stages, sadness and anger. Give yourself the room to grieve and have feelings without involving your ex in them.

3. Make a list of every terrible thing your partner ever did.

Along with your letter, it's a great idea to have a list of all the reasons why this relationship is not in your best interest. This list should include things she has done that hurt you, any betrayals that have occurred, ways that you are not compatible, things that did not work in the relationship, ways that the relationship was not healthy for you, and reminders about why the two of you are not together. You may want to store this along with your letter to yourself. This is your in case of emergency break glass list. If the letter has not worked and you are reaching for your phone, read this first!

4. Start a self-care list.

Create a list of things that you can do that calm you, distract you, and help relax you. Start with 20 different activities that you can do that you enjoy. This should be a living list that you constantly add to. Make sure some of these items are things that you can do at home by yourself, regardless of the weather.

5. Have a breakup buddy.

It can be helpful to either have a friend who's going through something similar or just a pal to who you can be accountable. This is someone who you can make a pact with not to reach out to your ex, come up with consequences if one of you does, or just support each other while going through this difficult time. Having someone to who you are accountable besides yourself can help you be clean with your no-contact plan.

6. Work on yourself.

After a relationship is over, that can be a really wonderful time to start some self-exploration. Start individual therapy to look at any patterns you have in your relationships and correct them before your next partner. If money is a concern, look into local mental health clinics that will see you based on your ability to pay. Do some bibliotherapy. Read books about breakups, childhood trauma, changing relationship patterns, having healthier relationships , or anything else geared towards self-improvement.

7. Start a new hobby.

Utilize all of your new free time to find new passions and activities that you love. Always wanted to take a class to learn how to write a novel, paint a picture, play the violin? This is the time. Find new things that light your soul on fire, or even just help you pass the time while you heal.

8. Give yourself some structure.

Sleeping all day, eating ice cream out of the container, and staying up late drinking are all temptations of the broken heart. But we tend to thrive and heal faster when we are able to provide structure for ourselves. Write up a schedule for yourself that allows you to get enough sleep, do some moderate exercise, and provide healthy, nutritious food for yourself. Make sure you include time with your support system and fun time with friends. You are going to need this to get through this difficult time.

9. Change your surroundings.

Sitting in bed looking at that framed picture of the two of you on that romantic trip you took does not help you heal or let go. Put away all the photos, memorabilia, and things that remind you of your ex. Burn some sage to get rid of her energy in your home. If you can afford to do a little redecorating, this is the time. Even just moving the furniture in your apartment can give you a fresh outlook and make it remind you less of the time when she was there.

10. Plan something fun.

Give yourself something to look forward to. Sign up for a class (virtual or otherwise), plan a trip, organize a dinner with a favorite friend, or plan a little shopping splurge. Giving yourself something to look forward to can help shift your mood and keep you looking forward instead of back.

Keep in mind that sometimes even the most heartbreaking breakups usually end up being for the best. Sometimes we are just too close to see it. Do your best to utilize this time to reconnect with yourself and take great care of you.

TripAdvisor is a US-based travel and restaurant website that hosts hotel, restaurant, and other travel accommodation and travel-related listings. Users of TripAdvisor can leave reviews on all listings, and the owners of those listings can respond and interact with customers. From time to time, you may find yourself wanting to contact TripAdvisor related to a customer service issue or other inquiry, in which case it’s important to choose the right contact method to ensure your question gets through to the right department. Owners of listings on TripAdvisor will also need to report issues occasionally to ensure that their listings stay reliable and uncompromised by things like fraud.

Contacting Different Departments of TripAdvisor

Step 1 Fill out the general support form for general inquiries.

  • If your inquiry is related to a listing you own, then selecting the “My Business” option will redirect you to the management center where you can send your inquiry.

Tip : Find lots of general TripAdvisor information and answers to customer service questions in the help center here: https://www.tripadvisorsupport.com/hc/en-us .

Step 2 Make your changes from the Management Center.

  • Before you fill out the form or call, check if you can find the answer to your question in the FAQs here: https://www.tripadvisorsupport.com/hc/en-us/sections/200154907-Vacation-Rentals .

Step 4 If your question is related to a Viator booking.

  • If you are an owner and would like to sign up for Viator, use the following link https://supplier.viator.com/sign-up-info

Step 5 Use the media kit form to contact TripAdvisor about advertising or display sales.

  • This applies mostly to travel professionals. For example, if you work for a travel agency or hospitality business of some kind and would like to pay for things like banner ads on TripAdvisor.

Step 6 Email the correct press contact email if you are a member of the media.

  • For North America, the email is: [email protected]. For the UK, Ireland, and the EMEA region it is: [email protected]. For Singapore and Asia Pacific it is: [email protected].
  • EMEA stands for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
  • You can find recent press releases about TripAdvisor here: https://tripadvisor.mediaroom.com/us-press-releases .

Reporting Issues about a Review

Step 1 Report reviews that violate guidelines, are suspicious, or are mis-posted.

  • Keep in mind that the review will only be removed if it is posted to the wrong property, if it violates TripAdvisor’s review guidelines, or if it is deemed suspicious. You can read the review guidelines here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Trust-lvBd3L1aU38Y-Review_posting_guidelines.html .
  • Here is a link to the management center: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Owners .

Tip : If you simply received a bad review on your business, but it does not meet any of the above standards to be removed, then the best thing you can do is respond to it. A response from management to a bad review shows that you care about the customer’s experience and want to improve it.

Step 2 Report optimization fraud to help TripAdvisor keep reviews legitimate.

  • Optimization fraud, also known as organized boosting, is when companies contact TripAdvisor listings owners and fraudulently offer to help manipulate their listings’ positions in exchange for pay.
  • Organized boosting is against TripAdvisor’s policies, unethical, and can even be illegal. If you are contacted by a company claiming they can help optimize your listing, then report them immediately to TripAdvisor.
  • Keep in mind that no company claiming to have an official relationship with TripAdvisor that allows them to manipulate listings is telling the truth.
  • You can find more info on optimization fraud here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/TripAdvisorInsights/w626 .

Step 3 Prevent blackmail reviews by reporting threats immediately.

  • A blackmail review threat is when someone contacts the owner of a business and threatens to leave a bad review if they are not provided with something like a refund or upgrade, or some other request is not met.
  • Although these are often just empty threats, it’s important to report them immediately to put them on the official record. TripAdvisor takes blackmail very seriously and will do everything possible to stop these types of reviews from appearing on the site.
  • If a blackmail review has already been posted on your listing, then follow the process for reporting suspicious reviews and provide all the proof you have that a specific review is the result of a blackmail threat.
  • You can read more about reporting blackmail threats and blackmail reviews here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/business/insights/hotels/resources/report-blackmail-threat

7 of the best all-inclusive experiences to book this year, from a travel planner

  • As a travel planner, my clients seem to be increasingly interested in all-inclusive trips .
  • Some of my favorite luxury resorts are in Costa Rica, the Maldives, and Isla Mujeres.
  • Cruises, group tours, and adults-only lodgings can also come with all-inclusive options.

Insider Today

As a travel planner at Marvelous Mouse Travels , I know vacations are expensive — especially if you're looking to go somewhere this summer . But all-inclusive travel is often a great way to get the most value out of a luxury experience.

I've been on several all-inclusive vacations with my family, friends, and work, and I've helped other people book them in destinations around the world .

Here are some of the best all-inclusive experiences I'm recommending to my clients this year.

Try a split-stay vacation to see the best of Costa Rica.

no contact trip

Costa Rica is one of the most sought-after vacations , and for good reason. It's great for both relaxation and adventure.

I recommend booking a split stay, starting at an all-inclusive resort in Guanacaste near the beach for some fun in the sun and moving to a resort near the famous Arenal Volcano for a jungle adventure.

Some of my favorite resorts in Costa Rica are the Westin Reserva Conchal and the Dreams Las Mareas. And if you're looking for an even more unique experience, check out the glorious swim-out suites with private pools at Dreams.

Baglioni Maldives is one of my favorite all-inclusive resorts.

no contact trip

The Maldives, a remote set of islands in the Indian Ocean, offers a plethora of resort options for couples and families, but Baglioni Maldives is my favorite.

For many in the US, getting to the islands can be daunting — there are very few direct commercial flights, and it can take almost an entire day. But it's hard to beat the country's luxury accommodations and gorgeous landscape.

The Maldives also has some of the most beautiful marine life and coveted spots for snorkeling and scuba diving.

No matter where you go, overwater bungalows are the ultimate all-inclusive splurge.

no contact trip

Overwater bungalows — villas standing on poles over open ocean water — are prevalent at all-inclusive resorts in destinations like the Maldives, Fiji, and Bali.

But I've also come across the luxurious accommodations at select adults-only Sandals Resorts throughout the Caribbean.

I think having a private villa on the water is the perfect way to unwind and relax.

Adults-only vacations are on the rise.

no contact trip

Traveling with kids can be a blast, but I also think it's important for adults to take a much-needed break on their own.

Adults-only resorts have been a total respite for me and my husband after hectic months of juggling work with our kids' school and sports schedules.

If you're looking to unwind with a partner, relax on a girls' trip, or even connect with your adult children, there are countless adults-only, all-inclusive resorts to choose from, depending on where you're looking to visit.

Some properties, including Sandals and Beaches Resorts, also offer butler service. Designated staff members can help with anything from room requests and dining reservations to cabana rentals and transportation coordination.

I upgraded to the service at my favorite adults-only spot, Le Blanc Los Cabos, and I felt totally pampered.

Isla Mujeres is pure luxury.

no contact trip

Isla Mujeres, a small island off the coast of Cancún, is known for its crystal-clear, turquoise water and peaceful vibe. It's also home to Playa Norte, one of the best beaches in Mexico .

Impressions Isla Mujeres by Secrets is a gorgeous all-inclusive resort on the island. It offers luxury at its finest, but with only 125 rooms, it has a boutique feel.

One of my favorite features of the resort is the waterslide that leads right into the beautiful ocean.

There are plenty of all-inclusive packages at sea.

no contact trip

Cruising is one of the most popular vacations , whether it's an epic adventure on a Royal Caribbean Cruise, a couples-only journey on Virgin Voyages, or a regal tour of Europe on Viking River Cruises.

Although cruises aren't traditionally considered all-inclusive, with the right booking, they can have the same feel as a luxury resort.

Most cruise bookings include food, nonalcoholic drinks, and live entertainment. If you add beverage packages and excursions in advance, your trip should be fully paid for before you depart.

Book a small-group or private tour if you're looking for adventure.

no contact trip

Group travel is a great way to explore new places while soaking up culture and history.

Popular destinations include Italy, Japan, Costa Rica, and Alaska, and many travel companies take care of everything for you, essentially making it all-inclusive.

I like Adventures by Disney , which offers small-group travel all over the world facilitated by seasoned guides. All the trip details are taken care of, including experiences, food, lodging, and transportation.

Additionally, Kensington Tours offers luxury private travel where every facet of the trip is meticulously planned for you.

County Road 26 to open Monday for local, critical trips

Limited travel for commuters using the lake city cutoff opens after state and county collaboration as bridge closure continues.

Montrose and Gunnison Counties — This weekend, CDOT and Gunnison County are working together to accelerate improvements to County Road 26 (Lake City Cutoff) so it can open Monday for local commuter travel between Montrose and Gunnison.  At the same time, engineers continue to conduct safety inspections of the US Highway 50 bridge crossing the Blue Mesa Reservoir at Dillon Pinnacles. This bridge, located west of Gunnison at Mile Point 136.3, closed Thursday in the interest of public safety after an inspection revealed a crack in one of the girders. The technical structure name for the bridge is K-07-B.

Recognizing the US 50 closure creates a significant detour for commuters traveling between Montrose and Gunnison, CDOT and Gunnison County officials this weekend prioritized getting a shorter access route in place for local travel between the two communities. That collaboration will continue as officials work to further fortify the road with gravel and manage traffic to a level that the road can safely carry.

“We are starting slow in order to increase the chances we can go faster later. The impact on western Colorado cannot be understated and we are exhausting all opportunities and partnerships to mitigate the impacts of the bridge closure,” said Martin Schmidt, Assistant Gunnison County Manager for Public Works.

On Monday, April 22, pilot cars will lead  passenger vehicles through the access route two times a day in each direction. Because CR 26 is a high-mountain, unpaved road that is not intended to accommodate the traffic volumes of US 50, travel times will be limited and commercial vehicles exceeding a 16,001 gross vehicle weight rating are prohibited. The schedule for piloted travel is:

  • 6 to 6:30 a.m. and 6 to 6:30 p.m. for westbound travel
  • 7 to 7:30 a.m. and 7 to 7:30 p.m. for eastbound travel

The queue for westbound pilot car operations will start near the intersection of CO 149 and CR 26 and the queue for eastbound travel will start near the intersection of US 50 and CR 26. The travel time on the access route is expected to be 30 minutes or more.

County Road 26 will only be open for local, essential travel during these timeframes. The road will remain closed at all other times for the ongoing restoration work needed to ensure the road remains safe for travel.

A hotline and email continue to be in place to assist customers with questions about the closure. Anyone with questions can reach out via 970-648-4423 or [email protected] . Calls will be closely monitored and will receive a prompt reply. Information is also available on the project website at bit.ly/us50bridge . Travelers should refer to COtrip.org or the smartphone COtrip Planner app to plan an alternate route.

“CDOT appreciates Gunnison county’s dedication and hard work as we cooperate to offer more options to help the western slope manage this safety closure.  CDOT will continue to support the county as we focus on the opening of County Road 26 to serve the critical needs of residents,” said CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew. “County Road 26 is an important local route that is up to five hours more efficient than detouring via state highways. However, this road currently has a natural roadbed and can only accommodate limited traffic - so it is important that we help Gunnison County focus this capacity on the needs of local communities most impacted by the closure.”

There are two recommended detours for through travel via Interstate 70 to the north or US 160 to the south and these detours add six to eight hours of travel time. CDOT is coordinating with emergency service providers to ensure emergency response is unaffected.

Travel Impacts

  • US 50 is closed between Montrose and Gunnison
  • Recommended alternate routes are I-70 to the north or US 160 to the south
  • A limited, local detour is in place for travel at specific times

Introduction

Traveling is a thrilling adventure that allows us to explore new destinations, experience diverse cultures, and create lasting memories. Whether you’re planning a family vacation, a romantic getaway, or a business trip, it’s essential to have a reliable point of contact during your journey. In the world of air travel, this vital role is fulfilled by none other than the Trip Contact.

A Trip Contact is a designated individual who acts as a primary point of communication between the airline and the traveler. They play a crucial role in ensuring that all aspects of the trip run smoothly and efficiently. From flight changes and delays to handling emergencies or relaying important information, the Trip Contact is the go-to person for both the traveler and the airline.

In this article, we will explore the concept of a Trip Contact, its importance, responsibilities, and how to designate one. We will also discuss the numerous benefits of having a Trip Contact during your air travel adventures. So, let’s dive into the world of Trip Contacts and unravel their significance in ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable travel experience.

Defining a Trip Contact

A Trip Contact, also known as a Point of Contact or Emergency Contact, is an individual designated by the traveler to facilitate communication between themselves and the airline. Think of the Trip Contact as your personal liaison, ensuring that important information reaches you promptly and efficiently during your journey.

The Trip Contact can be a family member, friend, or even a trusted colleague who is easily reachable and available to assist in case of any unforeseen circumstances during your trip. Airlines often require passengers to provide the details of a Trip Contact when booking their tickets or during the check-in process.

While the Trip Contact is not physically present with you during your trip, they serve as a vital communication link between you and the airline. They are responsible for relaying important messages, such as flight updates, itinerary changes, or any emergencies that may arise. By designating a Trip Contact, you can ensure that you stay informed and connected throughout your journey, even if you are unable to access your own communication devices.

It’s important to note that the Trip Contact is not responsible for making travel arrangements or decisions on your behalf. Their role is primarily to facilitate communication and act as a point of contact between you and the airline.

Now that we have a clear understanding of what a Trip Contact is, let’s delve into why having one is so important during your air travel adventures.

Importance of a Trip Contact

Having a designated Trip Contact is of utmost importance when it comes to air travel. Let’s explore why:

  • Emergency Situations: In the event of an emergency during your trip, having a Trip Contact can provide peace of mind. They can be notified by the airline in case of any unforeseen circumstances, such as flight cancellations, natural disasters, or medical emergencies. They can then relay this information to you promptly and assist in making alternative arrangements or providing necessary support.
  • Flight Updates and Changes: Airlines often communicate important flight updates, such as delays or gate changes, to the Trip Contact. This ensures that you stay informed about any changes to your itinerary without having to constantly check for updates yourself. This is particularly helpful when you are in transit or if you have limited access to communication devices.
  • Assistance During Travel: If you encounter any issues or require assistance during your journey, the Trip Contact can act as a liaison between you and the airline. They can help resolve problems, such as lost baggage, seat changes, or even language barriers, by communicating on your behalf to the airline’s customer service representatives.
  • Coordination with Others: If you are traveling with a group or on behalf of an organization, having a Trip Contact ensures smooth coordination between all parties involved. The Trip Contact can receive and relay important information to the relevant individuals, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and well-informed.
  • Peace of Mind: Knowing that you have a designated Trip Contact who can be reached in case of any travel-related issues provides peace of mind. It allows you to enjoy your trip with the reassurance that someone is looking out for your well-being and can provide support or assistance when needed.

Having discussed the importance of a Trip Contact, let’s now examine the specific responsibilities that come with this role.

Responsibilities of a Trip Contact

The Trip Contact plays a crucial role in ensuring effective communication between the traveler and the airline. While their responsibilities may vary slightly depending on the specific circumstances and airline policies, here are the key responsibilities typically associated with the role of a Trip Contact:

  • Relaying Information: One of the primary responsibilities of a Trip Contact is to relay important information from the airline to the traveler. This includes flight updates, changes to the itinerary, or any emergency notifications. The Trip Contact must ensure that the traveler is promptly informed and kept up to date with any developments.
  • Emergency Assistance: In the event of an emergency, the Trip Contact acts as a vital point of contact between the traveler and the airline. They may be notified by the airline in case of incidents such as flight diversions, natural disasters, or medical emergencies. It is the Trip Contact’s responsibility to communicate important information to the traveler and assist in making alternative arrangements or providing necessary support.
  • Communication Facilitation: The Trip Contact serves as a liaison between the traveler and the airline. They may need to communicate with airline customer service representatives on behalf of the traveler, resolving issues or requesting assistance. This could involve tasks such as rebooking flights, tracking lost luggage, or addressing any concerns or queries that may arise during the journey.
  • Availability and Responsiveness: As the designated point of contact, the Trip Contact should be easily reachable and responsive. They should be available to answer calls, respond to messages, and communicate promptly with the traveler and the airline. This ensures that important information is relayed in a timely manner and that any urgent matters can be addressed effectively.
  • Coordinating with Third Parties: If the traveler is part of a group or represents an organization, the Trip Contact may be responsible for coordinating with other individuals or entities involved in the trip. This could include sharing relevant information or updates with fellow travelers, arranging transportation or accommodation, or serving as a point of contact for any external parties involved in the journey.

By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Trip Contact helps to ensure a smooth and efficient travel experience for the traveler, facilitating effective communication and assistance when needed.

Now that we have explored the responsibilities of a Trip Contact, let’s move on to discussing how to designate one for your upcoming trip.

How to Designate a Trip Contact

Designating a Trip Contact for your upcoming journey is a straightforward process. Here are the steps you can follow:

  • Choose a Reliable Individual: Select a trusted person who is readily available and capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of a Trip Contact. This could be a family member, friend, or colleague who can effectively communicate with you and the airline.
  • Inform the Chosen Individual: Once you have identified the suitable person, inform them about your intention to designate them as your Trip Contact. Explain the importance of the role and discuss their availability and willingness to take on this responsibility.
  • Provide Contact Details: Share your Trip Contact’s full name, phone number, and email address with the airline. Typically, this information can be provided at the time of booking or during the check-in process. Ensure that the contact details provided are accurate and up to date.
  • Communicate Expectations: Clearly communicate your expectations to the Trip Contact regarding their role and responsibilities. Discuss the need for prompt communication, availability, and responsiveness. Ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities in relaying information and assisting in case of emergencies or other travel-related issues.
  • Keep the Trip Contact Informed: Prior to your trip, provide your Trip Contact with relevant details such as your flight itinerary, hotel reservations, and any other pertinent information. This will ensure that they have all the necessary information to assist you effectively during your journey.

Remember to express your gratitude to your Trip Contact for taking on this important role and acknowledge their support in making your travel experience smoother and more enjoyable.

Now that you know how to designate a Trip Contact, let’s move on to exploring the benefits of having one during your air travel adventures.

Benefits of Having a Trip Contact

Having a designated Trip Contact can offer numerous advantages and peace of mind during your air travel adventures. Let’s delve into the benefits:

  • Efficient Communication: By designating a Trip Contact, you ensure that you have a dedicated point of contact who can efficiently relay important information between you and the airline. This eliminates the need for you to constantly check for updates, allowing you to focus on enjoying your trip.
  • Timely Updates: Airlines often notify the Trip Contact about any flight changes, delays, or cancellations. This enables them to inform you promptly, helping you stay informed and make necessary adjustments to your itinerary in a timely manner.
  • Assistance during Emergencies: In case of unexpected emergencies such as natural disasters, political unrest, or medical situations, having a Trip Contact can be invaluable. They can help coordinate emergency assistance, communicate with the airline, and provide support and guidance during uncertain times.
  • Peace of Mind: Knowing that you have a trusted individual acting as your Trip Contact can provide a sense of security and peace of mind throughout your journey. You can travel with confidence, knowing that you have someone to rely on, should any issues arise.
  • Efficient Problem Resolution: If you encounter any travel-related issues, such as lost baggage, seat changes, or misunderstandings, the Trip Contact can act as an intermediary between you and the airline’s customer support. They can communicate your concerns effectively, helping to achieve a swift resolution.
  • Coordination with Other Travelers: If you are traveling as part of a group, having a Trip Contact ensures efficient communication and coordination among the members. The Trip Contact can relay information and updates to all travelers, ensuring that everyone is well-informed and on the same page.

Having a designated Trip Contact is a simple yet effective way to enhance your travel experience. They contribute to your overall well-being and assist in handling any unexpected situations that may arise during your journey.

With the understanding of the benefits of having a Trip Contact, let’s conclude our exploration of this important role.

In the world of air travel, having a designated Trip Contact can make a significant difference in ensuring a smooth and stress-free journey. This individual acts as your primary point of communication with the airline, relaying important information, assisting in emergencies, and providing peace of mind throughout your trip.

We have explored the concept of a Trip Contact and its importance in enhancing your travel experience. By designating a reliable and accessible individual for this role, you can enjoy the following benefits:

  • Efficient communication and timely updates
  • Assistance during emergencies and problem resolution
  • Peace of mind and a sense of security
  • Coordination with other travelers, if applicable

Remember to choose a trustworthy individual as your Trip Contact and provide them with the necessary details and expectations. Inform the airline about your Trip Contact’s contact information, and keep them informed about your travel itinerary. By doing so, you can ensure that you stay well-informed, receive assistance when needed, and enjoy a seamless travel experience.

So, next time you embark on an air travel adventure, don’t forget to designate a Trip Contact. They will be your reliable connection to the airline, making your journey smoother and more enjoyable!

Problem with a trip you booked through a portal? Here's what you should do

Ryan Smith

The holiday season usually brings flight delays and cancellations. Also, if you're traveling through regions with snow, the chances of weather affecting your travel add a layer of uncertainty.

Along with bringing extra patience when traveling, knowing what to do if something goes wrong can also help you find a solution.

Unfortunately, that can be easier said than done. We receive emails regularly asking for help. They usually read something like this: "I booked a trip through my credit card's online travel portal. The flight was canceled, so the airline told me to contact the portal and the portal told me to contact the airline. No one is helping."

If you have problems with a booking made with an online travel agent (OTA) or a claim related to your credit card's benefits, what should you expect during this process of delays or cancellations? Also, if things aren't working, what can you do to improve the situation when it's impossible to contact the online travel agency where you originally made your booking?

Here are our best tips to get your trip back on track and help you move claims forward if you need to submit one.

What is an online travel agent/online travel agency?

Before we start, I want to ensure we're all talking about the same thing. When you book a flight directly with an airline or a hotel, you know who to talk to if your trip is canceled or delayed.

no contact trip

Conversely, there can be advantages and disadvantages to using a travel agent or aggregator websites like Expedia.com, Booking.com or the travel portal from your credit card issuer. These websites function as an intermediary, selling travel reservations to you, but they aren't the ones operating the flight, hotel or cruise.

This can add a layer of complexity when things go wrong during your trip, and some of these websites have better track records than others when it comes to helping you sort out your trip during schedule changes.

There are other considerations for whether you should use an online travel agent/online travel agency (OTA), and we have several articles you can reference on that topic:

  • 9 things to consider when choosing to book via a portal vs. booking directly
  • These cancellation horror stories show why you should think twice before booking through an OTA
  • Why this reader says he'll avoid booking through OTAs from now on
  • 6 reasons to avoid booking through an online travel agency
  • 4 reasons to consider booking your next hotel stay through an online travel agency

For today's purposes, let's assume you already have a reservation made through an OTA. Our goal is to help you navigate changes and cancellations to your trip and problems with any related claims when something goes wrong. This includes asking American Express, Capital One, Chase and Citi what people should do if there are problems with bookings made in their portals. Some of their tips are included below.

A trip change or cancellation before travel

The first set of issues you might encounter is a schedule change or cancellation before you depart. Depending on how drastically your trip is affected, you should receive options for alternate flights or accommodation, or possibly an option to cancel altogether for a refund.

Before your trip and checking in online, the OTA still owns your reservation. It's worth knowing that you will need to deal with the online travel agency for any changes before your trip. Contacting the airline or hotel directly will likely end with you being told to contact the portal's customer service team.

Making changes before your trip

If you receive an email saying that there was a change to your trip (or if you decide you want to make a change), the best thing to do is understand the change clearly and then see what your options are.

In addition to the options presented in the email, search online to see what else is available. Is there another flight to your destination at a time that works for you? If you can no longer stay at your hotel, did you find something nearby from the same brand?

Knowing other options available from the same company or its partners can help you know what our options are. There are probably more options than just the one or two presented in the email you received to tell you about a change to your trip. If you know what exists, you can advocate for yourself when rebooking.

no contact trip

That said, if you want a travel plan that wasn't immediately presented to you in an email or when managing your reservation online, you may need to call. Unfortunately, hold times on the phone are one of the major complaints related to bookings from an online travel agent. See the section below for tips on reaching customer service quickly.

With cruises, the cruise line should communicate changes with you before your trip, and what happens next will vary by how soon you're sailing and how significant the change will be. The cruise line may offer you a discount on a future sailing or onboard credit during your sailing if you choose to keep your booking. Significant changes may come with an offer for a refund. Changing to a different cruise with that same company may be an option if there are significant changes to the sailing you reserved, so ask about this if you're interested.

Refunds for cancellations

Assuming a trip was canceled and you should receive a refund, refunds for cash payments and refunds when you paid with points function differently.

Assuming you booked a hotel and won't be staying there, a Hotels.com cancellation or Booking.com cancellation should be refunded to the credit card used during your booking. Double-check your booking terms to see how long the refund will take. The same applies when you book a flight or cruise through an online travel agency and paid by credit card.

Related: If your flight is canceled, here's what to know about securing a seat assignment on your new flight

However, if you paid with points from a bank's travel portal, this will work differently. If you paid with points and your trip is canceled by the provider (such as an airline), American Express will process your refund as a statement credit.

However, according to a spokesperson for American Express, you can call the number on the back of your Amex card to ask for your refund to be converted to points. Conversely, Capital One will refund you in the way that you paid: credit card, miles or a mix of the two.

A Trip change and cancellation during travel

We'll consider the "you've started traveling" period to begin when you check in online for a flight.

Once you check in for a flight, the airline takes over your reservation. At that point, the airline becomes responsible for any changes — whether that's due to a canceled flight or because you decide you want to make a change.

"This limits a booking agent's ability to resolve an issue if one comes up," according to a spokesperson for American Express Travel. "If a change or cancellation is needed, contact your booking agent before you check in to avoid being bounced between customer service teams and potential fees."

A spokesperson for Chase mentioned a larger grace period but reiterated the same issue: "Chase Travel may no longer be able to make changes on the customer's behalf and only the airline can assist" within two hours of departure.

If you've checked in already or if you miss a flight, you should deal directly with the airline — not the website where you made your booking. The airline should help you make new arrangements. If the airline insists that you contact your booking portal, ask the airline to add notes to your reservation stating this.

Senior credit cards editor Matt Moffitt dealt with this problem during a flight cancellation. He had the airline put a note on his reservation saying that they approved the OTA to make changes to help him avoid back-and-forth when trying to change his flight.

For problems with hotels, most hotel programs have some sort of room guarantee . If you show up at a hotel and it's closed or they can't honor your confirmed reservation, the hotel should find a new place for you to stay. This should not be your responsibility.

For more details, you can read the reservation guarantee policies for Hilton , Hyatt , IHG and Marriott . You may even receive compensation if your original hotel booking cannot be honored.

Related: 3 things to do if your flight is delayed

Cruises are very different. It's important to read the fine print and check the terms of your cruise contract. Many of these contracts indicate that a cruise itinerary can be changed and that the cruise line does not have to refund you.

Itinerary changes can happen due to mechanical failures, disasters at the port of call or other issues beyond the cruise line's control. If there is a change, the cruise line may offer you some type of perk (typically onboard credit). However, moving you to a different cruise — in the way you could change to a different flight due to schedule changes — probably isn't an option unless you choose to buy a ticket for that other cruise.

How to reach customer service quickly

Let's say that plans have gone sideways, and you need to talk to customer service to rebook or cancel your trip. Hold times can be long with any airline or hotel program and travel portals are no better. For example, consider that "impossible to contact Expedia" has a high search volume on Google.

no contact trip

If you need to reach someone quickly, consider contact methods like a direct message on Twitter, calling a number outside the U.S. where wait times may be shorter or even choosing an option for a different language from the customer support menu. For more tips on how to quickly reach customer service, consult the following:

  • How to quickly reach an airline customer service agent
  • Here's how the TPG staff is beating long hold times and getting airline support quickly
  • Last resort: Stuck on hold trying to reach your airline? Head to the airport

It's worth noting that a spokesperson for Capital One Travel says their team is committed to reducing wait times on hold or redundancy created by transferring you to a different department after you call for help with an existing booking. Each agent is trained to handle any type of travel request, according to this spokesperson, to help customers reach a solution without excessive wait times.

How to use credit card protections and submit a claim

If you're having problems with a claim related to your credit card's benefits, such as rental car protections or trip delay insurance, calling the number on the back of your credit card won't help, unfortunately. That's because many of these benefits are managed by independent insurance companies.

Related: What you can ask from an airline after a delayed or canceled flight

In order to help your claim move through the claims process as efficiently as possible, there are a few things you can do. First, ensure you keep all receipts related to your claim and submit legible copies of these and any other documents you send to the claims agent.

Additionally, you should ask for documentation from your travel provider regarding any issues. If there is a cancellation, delay or accident, ask for this in writing. You may need this paper trail for claims like trip delay reimbursement or proving that expenses related to your claim were unavoidable.

Related: Flight delayed? Remember these 4 things if you want trip delay reimbursement from your credit card

no contact trip

What if the claims process isn't working as it should? Unfortunately, contacting the credit card issuer won't help, because you will be told to contact the benefit provider. While the benefit is attached to your credit card, it's usually offered by an outside company.

If you're having issues with a claim — such as no response to questions you send or being asked to send the same documents repeatedly — you'll still have to work with the benefits administrator to solve these issues. For American Express protections, you can find details in your complete guide to travel protections on American Express cards .

For Visa and Mastercard credit cards, many of these benefits are administered by eclaimsnline.com. We asked how to resolve some of these issues but did not receive a response at the time of writing.

Related: 6 real-life strategies you can use when your flight is canceled or delayed

Suppose you continue encountering problems and cannot get help with your claim. In that case, you may need to consult places like the Better Business Bureau or the attorney general covering the area where your claims administrator is located. For advice on these legal issues and your rights surrounding them, seek legal advice from a lawyer.

Bottom line

Our goal is to help you be as prepared as possible. In this way, you can know what to do if there's a schedule change, cancellation or mishap along the way.

Get familiar with your credit card benefits and how to use them. Know who to contact if something goes wrong and how to resolve your issue as quickly as possible. In this way, you can move forward with your trip and reduce delays.

Reducing delays should help you reduce stress and get back to what you really want: enjoying your trip.

Former Cardinals GM Opens Up on Rehab Trip, Mental Health

Former Arizona Cardinals GM Steve Keim discussed his struggles with mental health with NFL insider Jay Glazer.

  • Author: Donnie Druin

In this story:

ARIZONA -- It's been over a year since former Arizona Cardinals GM Steve Keim was leading the organization, though much has changed since on both sides.

The Cardinals hit the reset button after 2023, firing head coach Kliff Kingsbury and seeing Keim step down due to personal/health reasons.

Now, Arizona's led by GM Monti Ossenfort and HC Jonathan Gannon. Kingsbury departed for USC for one season before recently accepting a job as Washington Commanders offensive coordinator while Keim has done some studio analysis work and has yet to rejoin a role in any front office.

Keim recently appeared on the "Unbreakable with Jay Glazer Podcast" and opened up on his mental health after checking himself into rehab while still with the Cardinals:

"Leading up to it, I had enough people - again, friends, family, coworkers, Michael Bidwill even came, our [Arizona Cardinals] owner came and sat with me multiple times and said, 'hey, you just don't seem like yourself' and I didn't know what it was," Keim said.

"But I also didn't try to hide from it. I told him straight up, 'I'm not doing good. I don't know what's wrong with me.' And you know, he was great, supportive, here for you. But at the same time again, there's a difference between acknowledging and saying, 'Hey, I don't know what's wrong with me and I'm not perfect' versus 'I really need some help'. Again, that at the treatment center is the number one thing that they emphasize is making sure that if you have problems out there, I don't care who it is, whatever your problems may be in life, ask for help. That that's the vulnerability that's important."

For the first time former Arizona Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim opens up about making the difficult decision to check himself into rehab while still employed as GM of the team, parting ways with the #Cardinals while still in rehab, the work he’s since done on himself on… pic.twitter.com/8KKf5CpumC — Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) April 23, 2024

Keim dove deeper into his struggles while with the team in the 50+ minute podcast, which is available here.

Open seating no more? Southwest CEO says airline is weighing cabin changes

Travelers line up at a Southwest Airlines ticket counter at Los Angeles International Airpor

Southwest Airlines  is considering changes to its single-class, open-seating cabins to drive up revenue, CEO Bob Jordan told CNBC on Thursday, a shift that could be among the largest in the airline’s history.

“We’re looking into new initiatives, things like the way we seat and board our aircraft,” Jordan said in an interview after the carrier’s  disappointing first-quarter report.

Southwest’s all- Boeing  737 fleet has a single economy class cabin and no seating assignments, though it does offer earlier boarding for a fee so customers can snag their preferred seats. The airline has focused on keeping its product simple and user-friendly for years, aiming to keep its own costs and complexity to a minimum.

Meanwhile, rivals including  Delta  and  United  have touted high revenue growth for premium seating such as business class and  strong upsell rates .

Analysts have repeatedly asked Southwest about opportunities for premium seating or additional fees. (The airline doesn’t charge travelers for their first two checked bags.)

Most U.S. airlines charge travelers to choose many of its seats in advance, even those that don’t come with extra legroom. Eight U.S. carriers —  Alaska ,  Allegiant ,  American , Delta,  Frontier ,  JetBlue ,  Spirit  and United — together brought in $4.2 billion from seating fees in their domestic networks in 2022, according to Jay Sorensen, an airline ancillary revenue expert at IdeaWorksCompany.

Jordan said no decisions have been made on what kind of changes Southwest will ultimately make, but he said studies have yielded “interesting” results.

“Customer preferences do change over time,” Jordan said.

While details were scarce during Southwest’s earnings call, when asked whether Southwest would consider a separated cabin on its planes, Ryan Green, the carrier’s chief commercial officer said: “Curtains and things like that are a bit far afield from what Southwest Airlines is.”

Green added that the carrier is not considering charging for checked bags because “people choose Southwest Airlines because we don’t have bag fees.”

2 women killed by Elias Huizar were his ex-wife and 17-year-old he had baby with: Police

Police have identified the two women allegedly killed by a former Washington police officer who set off an Amber Alert this week after fleeing with his 1-year-old son across state lines.

Elias Huizar , a former Yakima, Washington police officer, shot himself in the head at the end of the pursuit on I-5 in Oregon. The child, identified as 1-year-old Roman Santos, was found in the back seat unharmed and was taken safely into police custody.

In a press conference held Wednesday, the West Richland Police Department identified the two women who were killed as Amber Rodriguez, Huizar's ex-wife, who investigators believe he fatally shot outside of the elementary school where she taught before fleeing from officers, and Angelica Santos, his 17-year-old girlfriend and Roman's mother.

Huizar has been charged with Rodriguez's death. Police said Santos' death remains under investigation, pending an autopsy.

The motive, timeline of the deaths and the investigation into the case continues , West Richland Police Chief Thomas Grego said in a press conference.

Huizar, 39, met Santos when he was a school resource officer at her middle school, where he was accused of raping and impregnating her, police said.

Deputy killed: Pickup truck hits and kills longtime Texas deputy helping at crash site

Elias Huizar previously issued no-contact order, court docs state

Court documents filed in Benton County Superior Court in Washington said Huizar appeared in court on Feb. 15 and entered a not guilty plea on charges he had allegedly sexually assaulted a teenager while she was sleeping in his home,  according to NBC News . Another teenager had reportedly witnessed the incident, according to NBC.

Huizar was released after posting a $200,000 bond,  according to reporting in the Tri-City Herald . The article, citing court documents, said police started investigating the incident after Huizar's "17-year-old girlfriend, their 9-month-old son and her teenage friend" approached Benton County Sheriff's Office deputies on Feb. 3.

No-contact orders were issued for the victims in the case and Huizer was ordered not to go within 1,000 feet of their schools, homes or workplaces, a ruling that could have prevented Huizar from seeing his own child, according to the report, which cited statements made by a prosecuting attorney during a February court hearing.

Southwest Airlines will no longer fly out of Bush Airport and 3 other airports after financial lows

KTRK logo

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Southwest Airlines announced it will stop flying to Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Aug. 4, 2024, as part of a plan to cope with weak financial results and delays in getting new planes from Boeing.

Southwest said it lost $231 million. CEO Robert Jordan said the airline was reacting quickly "to address our financial underperformance," including by slowing hiring and asking employees to take time off.

The Dallas-based carrier said it expects to end this year with 2,000 fewer employees than it had at the start of the year.

Southwest will also stop flying to three other airports: Cozumel, Mexico; Syracuse, New York; and Bellingham, Washington; and implement capacity reductions in Atlanta, Georgia; and Chicago, Illinois.

The closures will help the airline focus on more profitable locations and deploy a fleet of planes that will be smaller than it had planned. Southwest said it's expecting only 20 new 737 Max 8 jets from Boeing this year, down from the 46 it expected just a few weeks ago. It will offset some of the shortage by retiring fewer planes.

Boeing is struggling with slower production since a door plug blew out of an Alaska Airlines Max 9 in January, and that is frustrating its airline customers.

READ RELATED: Boeing whistleblower testimony to Congress: 'They are putting out defective airplanes'

Southwest said that its loss, after excluding special items, was 36 cents per share. That was slightly worse than the loss of 34 cents per share that Wall Street expected.

Revenue rose to $6.33 billion, below analysts' forecast of $6.42 billion.

American Airlines also reported first-quarter losses on Thursday. While demand for travel remains strong, including among business flyers, airlines are dealing with higher labor costs, and delays in aircraft deliveries are limiting their ability to add more flights.

American said it lost $312 million as labor costs rose 18%, or nearly $600 million. The airline said it expects to return to profitability in the second quarter - a busier time for travel - and post earnings between $1.15 and $1.45 per share. Analysts expect $1.15 per share, according to a FactSet survey.

The first-quarter loss amounted to 34 cents per share excluding special items, which was worse than the loss of 27 cents per share forecast by analysts.

Revenue was $12.57 billion.

CEO Robert Isom said American is less impacted by Boeing's problems because the airline had already received hundreds of new planes in recent years. American has ordered Boeing Max 10s, a larger model that has not yet been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration, but those planes are not due to start showing up until 2028.

"If they don't get it together, we have also made sure that we're protected," Isom told CNBC. He stopped short of saying American would switch Boeing orders to rival Airbus, saying only, "We'll take care of it."

In premarket trading, Southwest shares were down 9% while American shares were up 3%.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

16 Things to Know About the No Contact Rule Female Psychology

Sad woman sitting on couch thinking about breakup

In This Article

The no contact rule after a relationship states that two exes should have zero contact with each other after a breakup so that both can cope with the reality of the separation. This means no texts, no phone calls, no interaction on social media, and no in-person contact.

Men and women tend to handle no contact after a breakup differently, and they may have different expectations depending on how things ended. Here, we will learn about the no contact rule female psychology, as well as how you can make the most of it.

How does the no contact rule affect a woman?

Female psychology after a breakup states that a woman wants a man to pursue her, especially if the two of you are unsure of whether to end things or take a break.

She will have grief during the beginning of the no contact period, but she will be desperate for you to chase after her. She will constantly hope for a call or a text message.

You may be wondering, “Will she miss me during no contact?” and the answer is that she probably will during the early stages.

She may be confused , as she will think that the breakup was needed on the one hand, but on the other hand, she will wonder if it was the right thing.

Going ‘no contact’ with someone you spent a lot of time with and planned a future with can be painful. A woman experiencing the stages of no contact is likely to feel angry, sad, and lonely.

While a woman is likely to feel sadness in the early stages of no contact, she will quickly get over her ex as time goes on. This brings us to another common question people have about the no contact rule in female psychology: “Does no contact work on women?”

The answer to this question is a resounding yes. If you want to end a relationship and convince your ex to move on , going no contact is sure to work.

Your ex-girlfriend will quickly forget about the relationship after she gets over her initial sadness and anger, your ex-girlfriend will quickly forget about the relationship.

No contact can also be helpful if she needs some time away from you to get over the pain you have caused her. In this case, the time apart may give her the peace of mind she needs to resolve things and get back together with you.

The female mind during the no contact rule

It is helpful to understand what happens during no contact in the female mind. As no contact begins, the chances are that your ex is feeling quite upset.

Female psychology after a breakup has shown that women tend to have a more intense emotional response after a breakup when compared to men.

She is likely to experience significant grief during this time of no contact. She will also have countless thoughts wandering through her mind. She will wonder if you’re thinking about her or if you’re taking time to reflect upon your role in the breakup.

She will also wonder if you ever really loved her or are missing her. During this time, she’ll have a deep sense of confusion as she tries to decide whether breaking up was right.

She’ll also reminisce about the good times in the relationship, and she’s likely to miss you when she is reminded of the time you spent together.

What does she think about during no contact?

So, what is she thinking during no contact? To understand the no contact rule female psychology during this period, you must know about the stages of no contact for a woman.

Right after the breakup, she’s probably thinking about why you aren’t contacting her. She might think you’re avoiding contact to act mad or keep the “upper hand.” After a certain point, she will begin to worry about why you have chosen to maintain no contact.

She will also think about whether the breakup was the right choice. If she is the one who initiated the breakup, she is probably feeling incredibly angry and rehashing everything you did wrong.

She cannot get past her feelings of resentment for you because she is so hurt, and her pain is so strong.

On the other hand, if you initiated the breakup during the beginning of the no contact stages, she will feel intense grief . She will probably blame herself for the breakup and wonder what was wrong with her.

She will engage in deep self-reflection and think about what she could have done differently.

As time goes on, her emotions will become less intense, and she will be able to view the situation more objectively.

If the two of you maintain no contact, she will spend less time thinking about you and more time thinking about herself and her hopes and dreams.

As the focus shifts away from you, she will think about moving on with life. She will connect with friends and loved ones and begin focusing on becoming the best version of herself.

She may occasionally have thoughts of missing you or wondering what could have been, but once she gets past her initial pain and begins to move on, she will realize that she can be happy without you.

This is what is so significant about no contact rule female psychology: women feel an initial stage of grief and then move on. Men, in contrast, begin the period of moving on just after the breakup.

They may immediately hook up with other people or push all their thoughts of their ex aside, only to have the grief hit them like a brick wall a few weeks down the road.

16 things you must know about the no contact rule female psychology

If you’re going through a breakup and you’ve cut off contact with your ex, you probably have numerous questions running through your head, such as “Does she miss me during no contact?” and “Is she thinking about me during no contact?”

You may also be anxious, wondering if you will ever get back together or if this is the end as per the no contact rule female psychology.

The 16 truths about the no contact rule of female psychology can provide some answers to your questions.

1. Her emotions run strong

As she goes through the stages of no contact, a woman is likely to have strong emotions. If things end badly or you hurt her deeply, her emotions probably cause her to form a strong negative opinion towards you.

2. She will hold a grudge

Women experience intense emotional pain after a break-up or during no contact after a breakup.

The no contact rule psychology works in a way that even if she misses you, she will have a hard time letting go of her feelings of sadness. If you wronged her, she would probably be angry with you for quite some time.

3. She does miss you

Does no contact work on women in terms of missing their partners? It does. Missing the ex is a major part of female behavior after breakup.

When you spend time with someone in the context of a committed relationship , you will miss them after cutting off contact. After all, when you implement the no contact rule, you go from talking to your significant other daily to breaking up and having no communication.

Of course, she will miss you, but if she is angry at you and processing her pain, this will likely override her feelings of missing you.

4. She doesn’t forget anything

Women tend to have strong emotional memories, which means they aren’t going to forget things that happened during the relationship. This has both advantages and disadvantages in reference to no contact rule female psychology.

During the stages of no contact , your ex will remember both positives and negatives of the relationship. If there were more positives than negatives, this might help her forgive you and reconcile the relationship, which is to your advantage if you want to get back together .

On the other hand, if the relationship is full of hurt and pain, she will remember the negative emotions associated with the relationship and have a hard time forgiving you.

5. She may go through withdrawal

As per psychologist Kenneth T. Wang

In the aftermath of a breakup, ‘no contact’ is the withdrawal we need to heal from. Just as detox sets us free from addiction’s grip, cutting off contact allows us to cleanse our hearts, purge the pain, and emerge stronger in the process of grieving.

There is some evidence that romantic relationships affect the brain similarly to drug addiction. This means that when a relationship ends, the brain goes through withdrawal. No contact allows her to move through the withdrawal phase instead of remaining addicted.

If you maintain no contact, this allows her to “come off the drug” that was your relationship.

On the other hand, maintaining contact, whether it’s through a random text message or accidentally bumping into each other, causes her to feel “high” again and makes it more difficult for her to move on.

See this video to learn more about how breakup can be similar to drug withdrawal:

6. If done correctly, it could help her stop resenting you

We’ve established that women experience emotional memories quite intensely, which means they could hold onto negative things that you’ve done because she is in so much pain. While this is the case, having space from you could help these negative memories fade away over time.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that the two of you will get back together, nor does it mean that she has forgotten.

But when she has time away from you, she is removed from the intense pain you have caused, which may allow her to heal so that feelings of love can come back to the surface.

7. She isn’t going to wallow forever

If you’re the one who is uncertain about what you want, keep in mind that one of the effects of no contact rule female psychology is that it can allow them to move on from the relationship . Don’t expect her to wait around for you forever to make up your mind.

Women are resilient, and if you allow no contact to persist for much longer than a few weeks, she will recognize that she needs to move on, and she’ll turn her attention towards becoming the best version of herself without you.

8. Begging and pleading won’t work

While you try to understand the female psychology after breakup, remember that putting undue emotional pressure on her isn’t the best approach.

If she’s initiated no contact, begging and pleading with her to reconsider or take you back likely won’t work. At this point, she’s probably given you so many chances to change your behavior, and she’s ready to put her foot down.

The best thing you can do if you want any chance at reconciliation is to respect her wishes and give her some space.

She isn’t likely to reach out to you because she wants you to chat, so you might consider asking her if she’s willing to talk again after giving her some time.

9. She will probably second-guess herself

Even if she wanted the breakup, she would probably second-guess herself. She may use the stages of no contact as an opportunity to engage in self-reflection.

During this time, she may realize that there were some things she could have done differently. She may feel guilty, and at this time, she might just make a subtle effort to contact you.

It may be as simple as “liking” a photo on your Instagram or asking a friend about you.

10. She’ll work hard to convince herself she made the right choice

A woman might second guess herself, but she’ll probably cope with these feelings by convincing herself she did the right thing. She may tell friends and family that she made the right choice, and she’ll try to work towards moving on, even if she is feeling some uncertainty inside.

Despite her efforts to move on, she will probably still feel torn. She will swing between feeling good about her decision to initiate no contact and feeling sad over giving up the relationship because she isn’t sure she can live without you.

11. She eventually accepts it

The no contact key with women is that they eventually come to a state of acceptance, even if they don’t want the breakup. This means that you better be sure this is what you want if you choose to continue no contact forever.

You cannot expect to go on and live your life only to decide a year down the road that you want to be with her after all. It’s probably too late, and she’ll likely be flourishing without you.

12. There isn’t a magic solution to get her back

If no contact wasn’t what you wanted, you might be searching for a magic solution to get her back. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can say or do.

The best thing you can hope for is that by giving her space and time, she will eventually move to a place where she can forgive your mistakes.

13. Remember, it’s a healing process before anything else

Regardless of whether the two of you get back together, the no contact rule in female psychology says that the primary purpose of this stage is to heal.

This could mean healing from pain so that the two of you can reconcile or heal to the point where you can move on from the relationship and find happiness without each other.

This means that the best thing you can do is work on yourself. Try to set new goals, explore your hobbies and interests, care for yourself, and work on some of your shortcomings. Whether you get back together or not, you will emerge better off after this healing process.

14. No contact means no contact

If you want no contact to be successful, whether that means helping you to permanently move on or giving you time to work on yourselves so you can eventually reconcile, you must commit to absolutely no contact.

This means that even when you are tempted to send a text message, browse her social media, or show up at a place she frequently goes to, you must refrain.

Even if it’s just for a week or two, no contact must truly mean absolutely no contact if you want it to be effective.

15. Pursuing her isn’t the answer

While she may want you to be the one to reach out after no contact, continuing to pursue her when she’s asked for space actively isn’t the answer. If she has stated that she wants a break or wants to go through a no contact period, you need to abide by this.

You may be tempted to chase her even harder when she requests no contact, but this will have the opposite effect, as it will push her further away.

If you do choose to reach out down the road (which may be just what she wants), you must wait until after going through at least a brief no contact period.

16. If she’s done, she’s done

While a woman is likely to feel some uncertainty over a breakup, if she has decided she is 100% done and has made this clear, she means it.

There are some instances in which no contact is short-lived, but if she tells you she never wants to hear from you again, you can be pretty sure she is done.

When you’ve hurt a woman badly enough that she decides to move on once and for all, this isn’t a decision she’s made lightly. She has probably given too many second chances, and she’s decided she deserves better.

A strong woman who has decided to move on permanently won’t likely change her mind.

If you reach this level of no contact rule in female psychology, you’ll know it because she won’t sugarcoat anything: she is done !

What’s the best way to use the no contact rule for women?

The “no contact rule” is a strategy that many men and women use to handle complicated relationship situations. It involves cutting off communication with an ex or a partner.

Here are 5 simple and relatable tips on doing this the right way

  • Space for healing: Use this time to heal and gain perspective. It can help you recover from emotional turmoil.
  • Avoid emotional reactivity: Steer clear of impulsive texts or calls, as these can often lead to more confusion and hurt.
  • Set clear boundaries: Define what you need from the relationship and communicate your boundaries when you do reconnect.
  • Focus on self-care: Invest in yourself by pursuing hobbies, fitness, and personal growth during this time.
  • Seek support: Lean on friends or a therapist for guidance and emotional support during the no contact period.

Will my ex forget my mistakes during no contact?

Women experience intense emotions when hurt, and they may take longer than men to move on when they have been wronged. Your ex likely won’t forget your mistakes during no contact, but the time apart could give her time to move towards forgiving you, which means that reconciliation is possible.

Female dumper psychology says that she’s more likely to forgive you and give you a second chance if she was unsure whether breaking up was the right choice.

For example, if you made mistakes, but there were many good aspects of your relationship, she may have been uncertain about whether she should break up with you.

In this case, she is more likely to feel confused about the breakup, meaning she could be convinced to reconsider and get back together. Research has shown that couples who are ambivalent about the choice to break up are more likely to reconcile.

If she is unsure of whether to forgive your mistakes, no contact may give her the space to process her emotions and realize that forgiving you and reconciling is the best choice.

This doesn’t suggest that she will forget your mistakes, and if you want the relationship to last this time, you’ll have to show that you’ve changed.

How to properly use the no contact rule on women?

Determining how to properly use the no contact rule on women depends upon your goals. If you’ve initiated the breakup and would like her to be able to heal and move on with life, you should maintain no contact.

Do not reach out to offer friendship or suggest that the two of you talk ; this will only make things more confusing and more painful for her.

On the other hand, if the goal of ‘no contact’ was to give the two of you a break to process your emotions and figure out how to reconcile, you can use it to your advantage by giving her time to cool down.

Then reach out to apologize after she’s had some space to process her feelings.

Similarly, if she initiated the breakup, but you feel deeply that you can make things work, you will have to do the chasing and convince her to give you a second chance.

Remember, many women want to be pursued, even if she initiated the breakup. If she put no contact into place because she was angry or hurt by something you did, give her a few weeks, and then reach out.

Offer to meet up and talk, and offer an apology. If you contact her to tell her how much you miss her and to reignite the relationship, her anger and pain may begin to fade.

Use the ‘no contact’ to your advantage

Breakups are challenging, and one way to manage them is through the no contact rule. No contact rule female psychology says that cutting off all contact after a breakup is the best decision.

This allows both of you to clear your heads and either move on from the relationship or decide to work things out and come back together.

If no contact lasts and you don’t chase after her, a woman is likely to move on from the relationship. She’ll be able to focus her attention on herself,  as she will come to learn that she can be happy without you.

On the other hand, the no contact rule for women isn’t always permanent. If there was more good than bad in your relationship, she may not want the breakup to be permanent.

Unfortunately, what happens during no contact may not always be to your advantage. Maybe you desperately want to get back together, but she just doesn’t see a future with you. In this case, you may have to move on, even if it’s deeply painful.

If you’re having a difficult time managing the grief that occurs after a breakup, you may benefit from seeking therapy . A therapist can help you to process your emotions and develop coping strategies so the sadness is not as all-consuming.
