How long did I spend on the road with a camper van?

I’ve been fortunate enough to have taken a few van life trips in the past, but my most recent adventure was truly epic. It lasted for a full year and took me on a journey of over 35,000 kilometers. I started in Russia and traveled through Central Asia, eventually reaching the Middle East in countries like Iran, Iraq, and Turkey. The van served as my home on wheels, and I was able to see and experience so much during this incredible journey. Van life can be a rewarding and exciting way to travel, and I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to embark on this extended adventure.

What type of van did I have?

I decided to embark on a vanlife adventure and chose a 2012 4X4 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 316 CDI as my vehicle. This particular model has a powerful 170 horsepower engine, making it well-suited for tackling off-road terrain. The Sprinter is also known for its spacious interior, making it a comfortable and convenient choice for living on the road. Overall, I am very happy with my decision to go with the Sprinter for my vanlife journey and have confidence in its performance and durability.

Was driving to Tajikistan, Iran, and Iraq with a European camper van was dangerous?

During my year on the road with a camper van, I never encountered any dangerous situations. I spent an extended period of time in Tajikistan and also had long stays in Iran and Iraq. Despite common misconceptions, I found Iran to be a very safe country and was pleasantly surprised by my experiences there. I also had a positive and incident-free visit to Iraq. Overall, I was fortunate to have a smooth and secure journey throughout my van life adventure.

Did I travel alone for one year?

I did not travel alone for a year in a camper van. In fact, I was accompanied by my wife and our 2-year-old son. By the time we completed our trip in September 2018, our son had just turned three years old and had stopped wearing diapers somewhere in Iraq. Traveling with a child can certainly add some extra challenges and considerations, but it can also be a rewarding and enriching experience. We were able to share so many memorable moments as a family and create lasting memories together on the road.

What happened to my 4×4 Mercedes camper van?

After my vanlife adventure came to an end, I made the decision to sell my trusty 4X4 Sprinter. This was not an easy decision, as the van had served me well on my journey and had become a beloved part of my travels. However, there were a few practical considerations that led to my decision. For one, I had purchased the van in Poland, but I live in Morocco, which made bringing the vehicle back home somewhat complicated and not legally possible. In the end, I decided to sell the van through the online marketplace Mobile.de. The website proved to be an effective platform for finding a buyer, as I received interest from over 90 potential buyers. After some negotiation, I eventually sold the van to an Austrian man who was willing to fly all the way to Poland to pick it up. It was a bittersweet moment to say goodbye to my van, but I was glad to have found a good home for it and to have made a nice profit in the process.

Saudi Arabia is one of the most photogenic desert countries that I’ve ever visited and is packed with breathtaking photo locations .

Iran is a truly fantastic travel destination, with a blend of welcoming and friendly people, a diverse range of landscapes, and a rich historical heritage. I have had the opportunity to visit Iran five times and have spent a total of five months exploring the country. Each time I visit, I am struck by the incredible variety of things to see and do. From the bustling cities and ancient landmarks, to the stunning natural beauty of the countryside, there is something for everyone in Iran.

One of the things that I love most about Iran is the warmth and hospitality of the people. Iranians are some of the friendliest and most welcoming people I have ever met, and they always go out of their way to make visitors feel at home. This, combined with the country’s rich history and cultural traditions, makes Iran a truly unique and rewarding place to visit.

Overall, I highly recommend Iran as a travel destination for anyone looking to experience something truly special and unique. What is the biggest adventure I’ve ever had?

It’s hard to say what my biggest adventure has been, as I’ve had so many memorable travels over the years. However, one trip that stands out in my mind took place in 2010, when I was traveling through South Sudan, Congo, and Uganda. This journey was quite challenging, as I encountered some unfriendly people with machetes in the jungle and had to rely on protection from Moroccan Blue Helmets to make my way through dangerous areas. I ended up traveling inside a heavily armed U.N. Hummer to navigate the wilderness and eventually contracted Malaria, which required hospitalization and treatment in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Overall, it was a rough but ultimately rewarding journey that tested my limits and taught me a lot about resilience and adaptability.

Since when did I write my travel blog?

I have been blogging since 2003! Starting a travel blog came into my mind when I had my first photography website back in 2001, when I began my photo project called People of the World . I was around the world portraying people from different countries. In 2003, I started sharing my adventure stories and travel photographs on the Internet on a popular travel website that is now extinct. Finally, in 2006 I opened my own domain – this one you are now – and commenced writing more information about the places I had been in since 1999. I first started writing in my native language Portuguese, and in 2010 I decided to open the English equivalent “Nomad Revelations World Travel Blog”. There are other travel bloggers that I like, such as Expert Vagabond and Against the Compass .

How many countries have I been to?

As of December 2019, I have had the opportunity to visit a total of 145UN+ countries and approximately 20 non-recognized countries or autonomous territories around the world. This has been an incredible journey that has allowed me to experience a diverse range of cultures and landscapes. While I have made a concerted effort to visit as many countries as possible, I have also made a point to return to certain places that I particularly enjoy and feel a strong connection to. For example, I have been to Mauritania a total of 7 times, Uzbekistan 5 times, Turkey 14 times, and Iraq 4 times.

Returning to these countries has allowed me to delve deeper into the local cultures and gain a more nuanced understanding of the places I visit. It has also allowed me to form lasting relationships with the people I meet and to develop a greater appreciation for the unique qualities of each destination. While it may not be practical or possible for everyone to repeat their travels to the same extent that I have, I believe that there is value in revisiting the places that speak to us and that we feel a strong connection to.

Overall, my travels have been an incredibly enriching and rewarding experience, and I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to visit so many amazing places around the world. While I may not have had the chance to visit every single country, I have no regrets and have cherished the experiences and memories I have gained from my journey so far.

How long have I been traveling? How long was I on the road?

I have been traveling for a significant portion of my life, and have spent an average of 6 months on the road per year. This means that over the course of the past 20 years, I have spent approximately 10 years traveling and exploring different parts of the world. While this lifestyle has its challenges, it has also been incredibly rewarding and has allowed me to see and experience so much.

One of the things that I love about travel is the sense of freedom and possibility that it brings. Being on the road allows me to break free from the constraints of everyday life and to experience the world in a different way. It has also given me the opportunity to meet new people, try new things, and learn about different cultures. While I have had my share of challenges and difficulties along the way, I wouldn’t trade these experiences for anything. Traveling has truly been one of the greatest joys of my life, and I am grateful for every opportunity I have had to hit the road and discover new places.

What is the main focus of my travels?

My travels are mainly focused on people, history, and nature. I have a particular interest in dusty and warm countries, and I enjoy visiting ancient desert cities and getting to know the friendly locals. In addition to immersing myself in the local culture, I also like to visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites and explore the rich history and natural beauty of the places I visit. To date, I have had the opportunity to visit 329 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and I have a particular love for petroglyphs and castles.

Overall, my travels are driven by a desire to learn, discover, and connect with the world around me. Whether I am exploring ancient ruins, learning about local customs, or simply soaking up the beauty of the natural world, I am always seeking new ways to deepen my understanding of the world and to have meaningful experiences. So, the main focus of my travels is people, history, and nature.

What are my top five most preferred countries?

When it comes to my top preferred countries, there are a few destinations that really stand out in my mind. Here are my top five:

Morocco – This colorful and exotic kingdom is one of my favorite places to visit due to its welcoming and positive people, rich history, and diverse landscape.

Turkey – This country is incredibly rich and diverse, with amazing food and friendly people. Its long history and varied culture make it a fascinating place to explore.

Portugal – As my home country, Portugal holds a special place in my heart. It is full of history, great food, and humble people, and is also home to the most heritage sites per square kilometer in Europe.

Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region of Tajikistan – This mountain region captures my attention with its incredible landscapes and unique culture. Brazil – With friendly people, good food, and an incredible range of diversity, Brazil is a place that I always enjoy visiting. The Amazon regions and the Portuguese heritage architecture found throughout the country are especially captivating.

A few other countries that I also hold dear are Afghanistan, Sudan, Uzbekistan, and Iran, each of which has its own unique charm and culture.

Which is my most preferred country for travel and why?

Of all the countries I have had the opportunity to visit, Morocco is by far my most preferred destination for travel. Despite living and working in Morocco for more than 16 years, I still feel like I am on the road whenever I am there. The colors, the smiling people, the rich gastronomy, the breathtaking landscapes, and the overall feeling of safety and being welcomed by the Moroccan people make this country an incredibly special place to me.

One of the things I love most about Morocco is its vibrant culture and diverse landscapes. From the ancient medinas and kasbahs of the country’s cities, to the sweeping deserts and snowy mountains, there is always something new and exciting to discover. The Moroccan people are also a major part of what makes this country so special to me. They are warm, friendly, and hospitable, and always make me feel welcome.

Overall, Morocco is a place that I will always hold dear and will continue to visit and explore for years to come. It is a country that has so much to offer and that never ceases to surprise and delight me. So, Morocco is my top favorite country for travel.

What is the single best lesson I have learned about the world during my travels?

During my travels, I have learned so much about the world and about myself. One of the single best lessons I have learned is that traveling means exploring the unknown and discovering new things. For me, traveling is not about finding myself or achieving specific goals, but rather about seeing new things and meeting different people and cultures. I believe that travel helps to broaden our horizons and to expose us to new perspectives and experiences.

One of the things that I love about travel is the sense of adventure and excitement that it brings. I get great satisfaction from being on the road and from experiencing new things, especially when there is a bit of an adventure involved. While traveling can be challenging at times, it is also incredibly rewarding and helps to reinforce and challenge our convictions in ways that no other experience can.

Through my travels, I have also learned that at our core, we are all the same. Regardless of where we come from or what our background is, we all smile, cry, love our families, and enjoy life. Travel has helped me to understand and connect with people from all walks of life, and has pushed me to the limits in my understanding of humanity. Overall, I believe that travel is a truly enriching and transformative experience that has the power to broaden our horizons and deepen our understanding of the world around us.

The Best Travel Vloggers on YouTube in 2022

If you’re anything like me, your YouTube home feed includes a lot of travel stories, with food and travel vloggers, around the world explorers, van life channels, and outdoor adventurers.

Watching travel videos helps me decide where to travel next in the world, and what exactly to do once I get there.

In person travel around the world is difficult with the pandemic right now, so I’ve loved watching travel adventures virtually from my favorite YouTubers. It’s a wonderful way to mentally escape the stress and uncertainty of the last year.

YouTube has more than 2 billion (yes, that’s billion with a b ) monthly logged in users. If you’re a prospective travel vlogger, getting your videos on YouTube can be as easy as filming a video, editing with a video editor , and uploading. Because getting started on YouTube can be so simple, that’s meant plenty of vloggers, with interesting stories to tell, are on the platform.

Many of my favorite vloggers introduce viewers to bucket list travel adventures around the world, while others stay closer to home.

Several travel bloggers on this list, like Kara and Nate, made the transition from around-the-word travel videos to van life during the pandemic. Others have bought and renovated isolated cabins, while others continue their adventures locally.

I enjoy watching their current adventures, but it’s also a great time to dig back in the archives and watch older videos. I even check out a few classic travel TV shows from time to time!

The Best Travel YouTube Channels

Kara and Nate 2.1 Million YouTube Subscribers

I just found Kara and Nate’s channel in the last year. It’s fantastic, and I wish I’d found it sooner! Kara and Nate are a husband and wife team from Nashville Tennessee, who traveled to 100 countries before travel slowed down in 2020.

The production quality of this channel is fantastic, with high quality videography, and great audio as well. These days, they’re making content driving through the USA in a van, with plenty of stops at interesting accommodations and attractions along the way.

Eamon and Bec 782K YouTube subscribers

Eamon and Bec are a Canadian couple that I started watching when they were travelling around Europe and Morocco in their self converted Sprinter van. There’s plenty of gorgeous content on here about their travels, their vegan recipes (they even have a vegan cookbook), and life on the road.

These days, Eamon and Bec are vlogging about renovating their cabin in the woods of Ontario, Canada.

Foresty Forest 245K YouTube subscribers

Foresty Forest is the real deal, if you’re interested in bicycle touring, ascending mountains, and the great outdoors. His crockpot makes frequent appearances, with simple home cooked meals made in the van.

This is old school YouTube, without paid sponsorships, or paid reviews.

You’ll find yourself singing the insanely catchy theme song, “ Foresty Forest, he lives in a van… Foresty Forest! “

I always catch myself smiling when there’s a new Foresty Forest upload.

Favorite video: Living in a Minivan During Freezing Temperatures

Christian Schaffer – 70K subscribers

Christian makes her living as an outdoor adventure and travel photographer, and was a former Abercrombie model and retail manager.

As you’d expect, her travel videography is beautiful, but the channel is also packed full of thoughtful, intelligent tips about van life, making money, and life in general.

The Wild Card: Tom Green 267K YouTube subscribers

Bet you didn’t expect to find Tom Green on this list!

Tom is best known as a comedian, whose career started on MTV in the 1990s. He’s known for quirky and often pretty juvenile comedy like the Bum Bum Song , the Slutmobile , and Hollywood films Road Trip and Charlie’s Angels, as well as being married to Drew Barrymore in the early 2000s.

These days, Green seems a lot more introspective, as he’s vlogging his van life with his adorable dog, Charlie. Green’s still a quirky mix, with gorgeous cinematography, visits to stunning and out of the way places, musical offerings, and rambling, free-form live streams.

Slim Potatohead 129K YouTube subscribers

Slim Potatohead is something of an outlier among travel vlogs.

There’s definitely good videography and storytelling here, but this is not the vlog for you if you’re looking for fast paced, high excitement travel. Slim meanders along on his adventures, and it often seems like very little happens in a given blog. That said, he’s definitely an authentic voice that’s well worth checking out.

He travels pulling a small older trailer, spending plenty of time off grid in nature. Older videos feature the USA and Mexico, but these days he’s focusing on travel within Canada. There are videos on frugal camper renovations, camping spots, and plenty of exploring and meandering.

Mark Wiens 7.28 Million YouTube subscribers

Enthusiastic and energetic, Mark Wiens is a food vlogger who shares about South East Asia from his home base in Bangkok, Thailand.

I was first introduced to Mark’s Migrationology blog back in 2012, and I’ve loved following his transition to being one of YouTube’s most popular food and travel vloggers.

He features plenty of street food videos, with a strong focus on Thai food and travel.

Tyler and Todd 77K YouTube subscribers

Tyler and Todd are one of my absolute favorite channels. They’re funny, engaging, and have absolutely gorgeous videography and solid audio.

They’re a Canadian couple who travel with their adorable dogs Charlie and Eddy.

Because of the pandemic, they’re currently not traveling, but I’ve loved following along as they make a home in Nova Scotia, building an off grid cabin.

Incredibly personable and funny, they’re a treat to watch each week.

Vancity Vanlife 145K YouTube subscribers

Vancity Vanlife features Chrome and his adorable bulldog pup, Cruz.

Chrome is a former professional DJ, so this is a fantastic channel if you love great music and great audio. As a former DJ, he has a fantastic voice for audio.

He uploads almost every day, and this channel is a throwback to early daily vlogs of YouTube. Videos are based mostly around Vancouver, British Columbia, but he does sojourn around Canada and into the USA when he’s able. It’s a great channel to get a feel for daily van life realities.

Drew Binsky 2.34 Million YouTube subscribers

Drew, an American YouTuber, is definitely an engaging, entertaining presence on YouTube. He’s also controversial, as he continued traveling during the pandemic, and he’s garnered criticism for visiting countries like North Korea.

This is the type of channel that you’ll likely either love or hate.

Favorite travel video: He is the Ice Man (Wim Hof)

Project Amber 57K YouTube subscribers

Project Amber follows the adventures of a UK vlogger and his adorable Spaniel puppy, Lance as they travel in a converted ex-ambulance.

There’s plenty of great content in the archives that features road trips around the UK and Europe.

The man and dog duo just bought off-grid land in Portugal, and I’m looking forward to watching his local Portuguese adventures.

Favorite video: VAN TOUR – Ex-Ambulance Turned Offgrid Home on Wheels, with Log Burner & Upstairs Bedroom

Lost in Europe

Ash Pollard of Lost in Europe is a 27 year old photographer from Leicester/England.

As the channel title suggests, he mostly features van travel around Europe. There’s some gorgeous videography here, and I’ve loved his time in Scotland, as well has his new content on van life in the winter.

Bald and Bankrupt 2.66 Million subscribers

Bald and Bankrupt follows the adventures of English travel vlogger Benjamin Rich, who mostly focuses on visiting post-Soviet states.

This channel is much more about meeting everyday people, and getting to know them and their lives, than cinematic scenes and views. It’s great entertainment, and I love that it focuses on getting to know people.

Like Drew Binsky, Rich has travelled during the pandemic. Rich was hospitalized for nine days for coronavirus in July 2020 in Serbia, which was not under lockdown at the time. He admitted that he was “blasé” about the pandemic, and has cautioned his viewers to take the pandemic seriously.

With my travel blog, I also hope to encourage and connect our world. Meeting people from different countries and cultures is incredibly rewarding. 

We have a lot more in common with other people than what some choose to believe. To travel is one of the best educations in the world, which is something that I’ve learned after several years on foot as a digital nomad . Despite different languages and cultures, it’s easy to make connections. 

I went on my first global adventure as a 20 year old, and it changed my life. Traveling as a backpacker is something that I think everyone should do at least once. It makes you humble and teaches you how to deal with money. At the same time, you will also encounter setbacks and successes.

And it’s never to late to explore the world. I have met many people in their 40’s, 50’s, and even those over 65 who have decided to travel around the world. In today’s society, it’s easier than ever to work from home or while traveling. That is also something you can read more about on my blog.

Newcomers can test their “strength” on a one-day trip – the roads should not be complicated and the distances should not be too long. For first-time riders, study the route carefully, taking into account not only the length of the road, but also the conditions: there should be no long climbs and no high mountain passes. The flatter the road, the better. Do not ride close to crowded and busy large traffic lanes, even if conditions permit.  Also, make sure carry your Russian invitation letter with your visa . 

Route: Levutov – Pavlovsky town

Distance: 65 km

From Reutov (metro station “Novokosino”) outside Moscow, via Saltykovsk, Zheleznodorozhny, Fedurnovo, then turn to Biserovo, to Staraya Kupavna, then to Elektrostal via Ivashevo, and finally to Pavlovsky Posad via Subbotino, the intercity electric train This is a good route for newcomers to the town of Pavlovsky Posad (Vokhna or Pavlovsky Posad station).

This route is good for beginners: the terrain remains almost unchanged throughout the route. It’s mainly asphalt, but it’s quiet, with a rural landscape and few cars. Also, there are many intercity train stations along the way – if you get tired, you can take the train back to Moscow.

For the uninitiated, there are plenty of suitable roads around Moscow. The entire Moscow region is dotted with railway lines, so it is not necessary to make a circular route. You can take an intercity train to one station and back from another. There are many convenient route options around most Russian cities. You can make your own route, or take the advice of experienced travelers and use an already prepared route map.

Two-day trips in Russia

If you can travel 60-70 km per day, it’s no problem and you’ll be able to ride for two days. First of all, you need to solve your overnight problem: will you stay in a hotel, borrow a private house or pitch your own tent? Be sure to take the weather into account and take extra things that will keep you warm or heated.

When choosing your route, add some “hills” on the way, but not too steep.

Keep an eye on your bike. Ideally, it should be carefully checked and tested two days before departure; if you don’t know much about bike parts, you should have a full “car check” at a good mechanic’s shop to remove all faults in time.

Route: ride along Nizhny Novgorod and rest on the Volga

Distance: 140 km

This is a self-guided route with picturesque Volga forests, where you will have to pitch a tent on the road overnight. You don’t have to think about the schedule of electric trains or buses, even if you are delayed on the way, don’t worry.

From Nizhny Novgorod, you will pass through the town of Bor (you can cross the Volga by cable car). Next, head to Ivanovskoye. On the way, note the unique, interlocking bi-level railroad: it is no longer in use, but the original structure is still there. Then go in the direction of Yurasovo, where you will turn to Maloye Utkino, then to Beryozovka, to Vypolzovo, then to the Volga River, to Apraksino, passing through the hill fortress with its ancient earthen embankment. Hillfort, which retains its ancient earthen berm.

After that, follow Orlovo, Belkino, Yamnovo, Zavrazhnoye, Selishi. After passing through Zhukovka, you can go straight through the forest to the bank of the Volga River and find a place to pitch your tent.

The next day, go in the direction of Pumra, then through Vagankovo, Orekhovo, Markovo, turn left at Matveyevka, go to Vatoma, then through Put’kovo and back to the banks of the Volga, then to the town of Pol, and then to Nizhny Novgorod.

There are many suitable two-day rides in the Volga Valley, around the Voronezh region, around the cities along the Golden Ring and in the Crimean steppe.

Multi-day rides in Russia

Riding for several days in a row is a very serious matter and you need to be physically prepared. For the first time, choose a route that is not too difficult and not extreme, because riding a few days in a row is not at all the same as riding 100 km in a week. Please estimate that it is more comfortable to travel 70-80 km per day on the plains and with much less hills.

Check to see if there are any settlements along the way – it depends on whether you’ll be carrying a lot of food, or if you can buy all your food along the way. But whenever and wherever you go, make sure you have drinking water on you. Please do not forget to constantly replenish your supplies and have an emergency reserve – about 1.5 liters of water per person. 

Route: “Crimean coast: from Kerch to Alushta”

Distance: 270 km , 5-7 days

We have intentionally divided the trip on this route into several days, as it depends a lot on your fitness and desire to visit the sights – which will be seen on the way, and quite a lot of them. There will be some mountain passes – if you feel tired as you pass them, it is always possible to set up camp early and prepare for an overnight stay. Almost the entire road runs along the coastline. If you don’t want to pitch a tent, you can easily find a place to spend the night in the resort.

Get off the ferry to Kerch and head directly to the Feodossia steppe. Pass through the town of Ordzhonikidze and head to Koktebel. Be prepared for a long and tiring uphill climb. If you don’t want to tire yourself out that much, then sacrifice some of the scenic views and take a different route – along the Simferopol highway.

From Koktebeli there is a difficult mountain road leading to Sudak. The strongest will can cycle to the town of “Novyi Svit” in one day, while the rest of the people should go to the village of Morske and then to Alushta via Rybache and Malorichens’ke. From Alushta, you can take a bicycle and a trolleybus to Simferopol, from where you can return by plane or return to Kerch by bus or taxi.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station  was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.

An excellent read! Thanks for much for sharing the Russian metro system with us. We're heading to Moscow in April and exploring the metro stations were on our list and after reading your post, I'm even more excited to go visit them. Thanks again 🙂
