Popular Tourist Attractions

1 . gardens by the bay.

There’s no doubt that Gardens by the Bay is one of the absolute most beautiful places in Singapore.

What most tourists don’t know is that the park itself is a collection of three separate gardens. Below are my top picks for Singapore Instagram spots.

singapore beautiful places

Supertree Grove. Standing at 25 to 50 meters tall, these trees provide shade in the day and light up to music every night at 7:45PM and 8:45PM.

OCBC Skyway. Take a stroll amongst the supertrees. Remember to double check their maintenance schedule first! (It was closed during my first two visits and I didn’t get to finally walk across the skyway until my third trip.)

Cloud Forest is home to the world’s tallest indoor waterfall and is a relaxing corner to escape the summer heat.

Floral Fantasy.  This is one of the newer Singapore tourist attractions showcasing 15,000 fresh cut, dried, and preserved blooms.             View this post on Instagram                     Happy Labor Day long weekend everyone! Head on over there to find out more on what I enjoyed the most during my stay! šŸ’š A post shared by JAS ā„ Travel & Visual Art (@mysuitcasejourneys) on Sep 2, 2019 at 1:35pm PDT

I first discovered this from  Tara  and Nuttakanlaya back in March of 2019. When I visited the following month in April, there was a family and one other photographer there shooting. No one else.

Now I’m obviously not the first to share about Fort Canning to social media and I’m not saying I’m the sole reason this gem became so popularized. However, my post got picked up by hundreds of million-follower repost accounts, and went mega viral on Instagram.

Since then, I’ve heard from many friends that they have had to wait in line for two hours  just for a photo. If you want a picture here, I strongly suggest visiting early in the morning and on a weekday if possible.

To access the spiral staircase, you can eitherā€¦

  • Take the tunnel at Fort Canning Link by Dhoby Ghaunt MRT
  • OR take exit C from Bencoolen MRT then head out to Canning Walk where you will arrive at the top of the stairs. Simply follow those steps down to find this iconic view.

Indeed very photogenic locations! I’ve never been in Singapore, but these photos are really enticing. I’m hoping to see some of them in real life someday.

I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you to visit soon then! šŸ˜‰

This is supercool. We are heading to Singapore early next year and I’m gonna keep in mind all of these! Botanic Garden looks spectacular. Did you actually lose your shoes there or was it for the picture? Fort Canning Park is just wow! The angle of the photograph is breathtaking! Bukit Timah and Makrichie Reservoir Park are so serene and so natural. If I hadn’t known I wouldn’t have guessed this to be Singapore!

Hahaa no I didn’t lose my shoes. I realized last minute that my shoes didn’t match the dress so I took them off for the photo. You’re gonna have so much fun in Singapore and don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever need any other recommendations!

Thanks for taking me back to Singapore. We saw a lot in 3 days. But I now see we need to go back. I wish we had visited the Chinese Garden at sunset. For Canning Park definitely does look like an Alice in Wonderland spot. There are so many parks that we missed. But I would not miss skipping a monkey experience. Good to have some indoor spots on the list. Maybe we will visit the Arts and Science Museum or the Aquarium. The night safari does look like a great splurge. Definitely need to head back.

You’re most welcome, Linda! I’ve been to Singapore about four times now and still haven’t seen everything on this list so there’s definitely no rush šŸ™‚

I would love to visit Singapore one day. There are so many great places to take photos, but I think Gardens by the Bay is my favorite!

I highly recommend it! It’s my absolute favorite for sure <3

Yes, Singapore has a lot of instagrammable places. In fact, we had our prenup shoot there and I really loved our photos taken at the Gardens by the Bay.

The Floral Fantasy background is also such a nice spot. Will try to visit during our next trip.

Though, I have never thought about the background at the Marina Bay Sands but your photo is just stunning.

Anyway, Thank you so much for sharing this. Bookmarking this for future refence.

Thanks for the kind compliments, Clarice and you’re most welcome too!

Wow, what spectacular photos. Thank you very much for compiling this collection. Makes me really want to go to Singapore!!!

Thanks Carol! Glad to hear I could inspire you to visit šŸ˜€

Wow, this is like the ultimate list! I wish I’d had a list like this to refer to before I visited Singapore šŸ™‚

Aww well you have it now for reference. Maybe it’s time to plan a revisit!

You have taken all superb shots of Singapore and thanks for sharing all the photogenic places of Singapore. My first choice would be Supertree Grove. It is great that you tipped us to bring your wide angle lens. Sri Mariamman temple in the heart of Chinatown which is Singaporeā€™s oldest Hindu temple looks very colorful.

A wide angle lens is a must when at Supertree Grove. Any plans to visit Singapore soon?

So many great spots in Singapore! I especially love Gardens by the Bay, those trees are incredible. The mix of technology and nature works really well and it’s great for creating images. I really need to go back and visit this great place again!

Tell me about it! I’m already longing to be back as well!

thanks for this. When I was in Singapore, I was only there for 1 day. A quick stroll around Chinatown, strolling around the cultural neighborhoods, down to see the laser show in the evening and that was it. Now you have given me a list of all the places and next time I am definitely planning to stay longer in Singapore. I especially want to check out that indoor waterfall!

One day definitely isn’t enough! Hope you’ll get to go back soon and don’t hesitate if you ever need any other recommendations šŸ™‚

OMG…you have captured these places so beautifully. I can’t wait to visit Singapore to capture everything you have mentioned. The Photographs are simply outstanding. My favorite is undoubtedly Fort Canning Park. Thanks for providing this list.

Thank you dear! For Canning Park is such a magical place although I do hear the line for photos can easily last up to an hour’s wait now.

I really cant wait to go to Singapore, it has been my dream for a very long time, if it’s like Hong Kong, i am going to go super snappy crazy. These photos look amazing!

Aww well it’s time to make it a reality rather than just a dream!!!

Wow! I’ve heard about Singapur being a “green city”, but would never thought that it has so many amazing parks and gardens šŸ˜® That post definitely put it much higher on my bucket list. Thanks for inspiration and congrats on your photography skills – beautiful photos!

Thanks love! Happy to hear Singapore has now moved up your list and I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you to visit soon!

I was in Singapore two years ago and it is definitely a cool city with interesting architecture. The whole city is almost made for Instagram. I had no idea most of these spots even existed! The Gardens by the Bay and Botanical Gardens were my favorite, but the rest of the parks all look really pretty as well.

You’re so right that the entire country is just photogenic. Maybe it’s time for a revisit so you can explore some of the other ares that you didn’t get to last time šŸ˜‰

Wow, so many beautiful places. Singapore is now on my bucket list!

It’s bucket list worthy for sure!

Your photos are incredible – I knew Singapore was a cool place to visit but I didn’t realise just how cool! Thanks for such a great post!

Thank you, Ciara and you’re most welcome šŸ˜€

Singapore seems to have unique and amazing places to visit. It is tough for me to say which one is the best but I would love to visit all of these places. Gardens by the Bay and Cloud Forest looks out of the world. 4D ride in Floral fantasy sounds quite exciting. You must have an awesome time visiting all these hot places.

Oh it’s impossible to pick a favorite! Hahaa. I wish I’d waited in line for the 4D ride though. Next time I guess XDD

Singapore is stunning! Visiting the Gardens bn the Bay is so high on my bucket list.

Hope you’ll get to cross it off soon!

Uh yes! Most definitely they are all inspiring Instagram-worthy posts. How do you choose a favourite, they are all stunning. I am a sucker for bookstores, water reflection and pink…so those would be a few of my favourites šŸ˜Š

Right!? It’s so difficult to choose, but the ones you mentioned are most certainly great picks!

I love the helix bridge and the description of ocbc. I particularly like the way you have embedded your instagram handle in the post. Singapore goes up by a few notches in my bucket list….

Happy to hear!

Very creative way to turn your IG posts into a story. Nicely done. Quite a few fun images too. Totally enamoured with the Helix Bridge and of course the Gardens by the Bay and the incredible trees — that have appeared in literally millions of photos. They must be truly amazing in person.

They totally are and I don’t think any picture or video can truly do them justice! Any plans to visit Singapore soon? šŸ˜‰

Simply breathtaking areas, I had no idea of some of these absolutely other worldly spots in Singapore. I had seen photos of the Gardens by the Bay, but didn’t quite understand them, thank you for all of the information about them. Fort Canning Park and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve would be must visits for me as well. Eek I must visit!

You must! I think you’d really enjoy Singapore, April šŸ™‚

Great ideas! And ooh there is a Central Perk cafe too! Would love to visit. Love your pictures of Gardens by the Bay and Floral Fantasy.

Thanks Smita! You gotta visit Singapore one day!

Ooh, I already want to go to Singapore, and this just makes me all the more anxious to! What a beautiful place, and amazing photos!

Aww well what’s stopping ya!

I’ll be going to Singapore soon, so I’ll definitely be checking out some of these fabulous locations. Can’t wait. I didn’t realise Gardens By The Bay was actually 3 different gardens.

Gardens by the Bay is absolutely ginormous and could easily take up an entire day if you ask me!

Not much to say but WOW… those pictures are stunning!!

Thanks Sheila! <3

Singapore looks like a gorgeous destination and very picturesque! I would love to go to all the places you mentioned in this post and take amazing photos. Thanks for sharing this thorough guide to these great places!

You’re welcome dear and I hope you get to visit sometimes soon šŸ™‚

Woaaah you found so many perfect photo spots around Singapore. I visited there years ago, and I have to admit, we did not worry about this kind of photography at all. I was more interested in finding the best food! šŸ˜‰

I really hope lots of these folks are having fun and enjoying the sights *as well* as taking beautiful photos. I mean, travel is best when you experience it, not just when you show off how pretty a place is..

Ahhh yes! My first trip there was focused on finding all the yummy dishes too hahaa. And I don’t know about others but I personally always enjoy taking photos and I had a ton of fun visiting all these gardens and exhibits šŸ˜€

I love Singapore and I want to comeback here in the future. Great compilation of Singapore best areas to have great memorable keepsake that will make everyone Wow.

Take me back with ya!

These are some stunning images. One of the gorgeous cities in the world. Marina Bay Sands is an architectural miracle

Agreed! Singapore is super picturesque!

Absolutely amazing places to take awesome pictures! What a list to explore! I added so many of them to my list of places to explore!

Yay! That makes me so happy to hear!!!

I absolutely love how you have colour coordinated your outfits and props with the background – the photos are absolutely gorgeous! I don’t think I can make it to all in different clothes.. haha.. since I’ll be on a short tour. But these are some fatastic ideas!

Hahaa thank you for noticing! I did compile this list of places over four separate trips though so I guess you can say I cheated a little šŸ˜‰

Singapore has probably the most beautiful man-made monuments and attractions. Helix bridge and Gardens of bay are my favourites.

Oh for sure! Can defs see why those two would be your faves too!

Weā€™ve yet to visit Singapore ā€“ it’s been on our bucket list for sometime now but after seeing the incredible photos in this post, I feel inspired to plan a trip there soon. OCBC Walkway looks incredible especially in the evening and the Floral Fantasy exhibit is stunning to say the least. Will surely refer to your post when we plan our trip.

Yay! You’ll definitely have to plan a trip over ASAP because you’d love all the gorgeous exhibits at Gardens by the Bay!

Singapore is certainly a very photogenic place and you’ve captured all the best spots in once article! My favourite is probably Haji Lane but that library looks amazing too!

Both are cute and two that I haven’t had a chance to get to yet. Shall we have a bet to see who will visit first? Hahaa.

Your photos are stunning!! Singapore is clearly an Instagrammer’s paradise. All those gardens sound fabulous, especially the National Orchid Garden! I’ll get to Singapore one day šŸ™‚

It 100% is! Hope that day comes soon, Maggie!

What gorgeous shots of a magnificent town. Makes me want to jump on a plane for Singapore right now!

I could defs use a trip back right now for sure!

Having recently spent a weekend in Singapore, it is very interesting to see what I missed. As always, your pictures are beautiful and stunning and do a great job of capturing the beauty of the places you’ve been. Masjid Sultan was definitely one of my favorite places, and Atlas bar looks so beautiful! I can’t believe I missed that one; I’ll have to go next time!

Thank you Kevin! I’ve been four times and haven’t even gotten to all the places on this list so don’t feel bad hahaa. Atlas is gorgeous and a must if you love gin! šŸ˜‰

Amazing photos. Some of them gave me vertigo just looking!

Aww thank you, Jane!

Wow, looks beautiful. This post is giving me serious wanderlust. And itā€™s on my bucket list, would like to get there within the next couple of years.

Well if you ever need any other recommendations or have questions for that future trip, don’t hesitate to reach out! šŸ˜‰

Quite an exhaustive list! I’d love to add Bay East (Gardens by the Bay East) to the list (located across the Marina Bay from Gardens by the Bay South), as it’s probably the best spot to see Singapore skyline. I’m sure that you’ll love the view seen from Bay East. šŸ™‚

How to get to these Instagrammable Places in Singapore

Singapore is a convenient city to visit. It has an excellent transport system, consisting of trains and buses, ready to transport you to all corners of the city.

The  easiest way to get around Singapore is by subway  (MRT). The MRT has an extensive network of underground trains that can take you anywhere in the city. Like the MRT, another great and undoubtedly the  cheapest way  to get around the city is by  bus.  Buses are cheap, frequent, and super easy to take.

The MRT operates from 5:30 am to midnight every day, while buses run from 6 am to midnight.

Make sure you get an EZ-Link Card (Singapore’s tap-and-go transit card) to use the public transport without the headache of bothering with small change. Also, be sure to download the  gothere.sg  smartphone app to help you get around Singapore stress-free. It’s a super useful app that gives the best options (in real-time) to reach your destination via public transport.

Taxis  are plentiful in Singapore, and it’s pretty easy to flag one down. Prices are generally cheaper than most other countries, making it the right choice if you don’t want to bother with public transport. Grab Taxi is also available in Singapore, and booking a ride on the app is fast and cheap.

Top Instagrammable Places in Singapore

Gardens by the bay .

Arguably the most Instagrammable place in Singapore, Gardens by the Bay, is a horticultural and architectural wonderland and a must on any Singapore itinerary. Located adjacent to Marina Bay, this beautiful nature park sprawls across a whopping 101 hectares and is jam-packed with plenty to keep you busy.

There are several points of interest worth your time, but the two most Instagrammable places have to be the  SuperGrove Trees  and the  Cloud Forest .

SuperGrove Trees

The SuperGrove Trees at Gardens by the Bay are totally Instagram-worthy place in Singapore.

The Supertrees consist of 18 vertical tree-like structures adorned with more than 162,000 plants like ferns, orchids, and flowering climbers. Most of the trees are fitted with solar panels, which generate electricity to cool the conservatories below.

You can visit the SuperGrove Trees from 5 am to 2 am daily. However, for the best photos, a visit at sunset is highly encouraged. While it’s free to stroll around the outdoor gardens and marvel at these vertical avatar-like structures from below, the best views are undeniably from atop the 22m-high aerial walkway. The OCBC Skyway is accessible from 9 am to 9 pm daily, but it’s best to  buy a discounted ticket online in advance  as the lines are always long.

The Cloud Forest

Singapore's most iconic Instagram spot has to be the gorgeous Cloud Dome.

The Cloud Forest is housed in a massive glass dome made up of 2,500 different glass pieces. It’s a magnificent architectural creation, and probably the most Instagram-worthy place in Singapore.

Inside, you’ll find a tropical paradise full of diverse plant life and the world’s tallest human-made indoor waterfall. The dome creates a tropical montane climate found between 1500m and 3000m, offering a welcome reprieve from Singapore’s relentless heat.

For the best photos, head up to the Cloud Walk and Treetop Walk. From here, you’ll get an excellent vantage point while strolling among varied plant life and cool mist.

Since the Cloud Forest is a popular attraction in Singapore, it’s best to visit in the morning to skip most crowds. Oh, and travel tip ā€” the lines at the Cloud Forest are always long. Grab your discounted tickets online in advance to skip them. That way, you’ll have more time to explore the lush gardens and take more photos. The Cloud Forest is open from 9 am to 9 pm, with the last admissions at 8 pm.

Two to four hours is sufficient time to visit the SuperGrove Trees as well as the two conservatories. Plan to spend longer if you want to take a swim, grab a bite to eat, or catch the Garden Rhapsody Light and Sound Show.

Catch the Downtown Line (blue line) to Bayfront MRT Station to get here.

A visit to Little India in Singapore would not be complete without dropping by the Instagram-worthy Rainbow House.

Little India is filled with charming shophouses that line the streets, beautiful temples, vivid murals, and the aroma of exotic spices!

While there are many photo opportunities here, the most Instagrammable place is the colorful House of Tan Teng Niah. Famed for its bright rainbow exterior, House of Tan Teng Niah has quite a unique history. The villa was built by a local Chinese businessman in the early 1900s and is the last surviving Chinese villa in Little India. Today the house is a National Heritage Site and a popular spot among Instagrammers.

The   easiest way to get to the Little India Rainbow House is take the North-East MRT Line (purple line) to Little India MRT Station.

No visit to Singapore would be complete without stopping by Haji Lane ā€“ one of the city’s most Instagram-worthy places. Haji Lane pops with color no matter which way you turn. There are many cool places to take photos, so remember to bring an extra battery!

While Haji Lane is only a few 100 meters long, it’s lined with hipster hangouts, cool bars and cafes, hip boutique stores and Instagrammable murals.

Singapore's most colorful lane is a huge must when exploring the city.

Since Haji Lane is one of the narrowest streets in Singapore, it does get crowded rather quickly. If you want to have the lane all to yourself, it’s best to come before 10 am when most of the shops and restaurants open. Alternatively, join the scrum to experience Haji Lane at its best!

At night, you’ll find the lane brimming with young people, backpackers, and foodies looking to sample all the exotic cuisine.

Haji Lane is full of bright murals making it an excellent add-on to any photographers list of must-see Instagrammable places in Singapore.

A short stroll from Haji Lane, and a worthwhile stop while exploring historic Kampong Glam is the beautiful Masjid Sultan Mosque .   Constructed in 1824, it’s one of the most iconic mosques in Singapore and features enormous golden domes and a large prayer hall.

Take the Downtown Line (blue line) to Bugis MRT Station, exit B. From here; it’s a 6-minute walk to Haji Lane and a 5-minute walk to the mosque.

Pagoda Street Chinatown

Chinatown is a bustling heritage area in Singapore full of Instagrammable places. Besides the charming lanes showcasing bright red lanterns and cute colonial shophouses, it is full of history, culture and just the place to get acquainted with Singapore’s nightlife .

One of the most Instagram-worthy spots in the area is Pagoda Street – a vibrant walkway teeming with bargain hunters and foodies in search of cheap, tasty food like chili crab and Hainanese chicken rice.

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is sacred temple and one of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore

After you’ve explored all the nooks and crannies of Chinatown, drop by the majestic Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.

While the temple houses lots of sacred relics and artifacts, the star attraction has to be the giant golden stupa weighing a whopping 3,500kg. If you don’t have time to explore the temple’s interior, make sure to at least take a photo of the exterior’s ornate features and impressive 3-tiered wooden doors.

The easiest way to access Pagoda Street is via the Downtown Line (blue line) or the North-East Line (purple line). Alight at Chinatown MRT station and take exit A. The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is a 3-minute walk from here on South Bridge Road.

Helix Bridge

The Helix Bridge offers excellent views of Singapore's cityscape and plenty of photo opportunities.

Taking a stroll across the 280m-long Helix Bridge is a huge must when visiting Singapore. The pedestrian walkway links Marina Centre with the Marina Bay area and offers an excellent vantage point over the bayfront.

Besides its unique architecture, resembling a double helix DNA model, it’s a great place to take Instagrammable photos of Singapore’s magnificent skyline.

While the Helix Bridge is a popular photo spot both day and night, it’s best to come early in the morning. Golden hour is another popular time to visit as itā€™s the perfect spot to catch an epic sunset. At night the entire deck is lit up showcasing a double helix structure. And, if you look carefully, you’ll spot the pairs of colored letters (c and g/ a and t) lit up in green and red representing the four bases of DNA.

The Helix Bridge is located near the  ArtScience Museum  (another must-see Instagram spot), so you really can’t miss it. Take the Circle Line or the Downtown Line. The nearest MRT station is Promenade near Esplanade. Alternatively, hop-off at the Bayfront MRT Station if you want to explore Marina Bay Sands Shopping Mall first.

Peranakan Terrace Shophouses

The colorful historic shophouses on Joo Chiat Road is a popular photo spot among Instagrammers and photographers alike.

One of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore is undoubtedly the Peranakan shophouses on Joo Chiat Road.

The pastel-colored houses are adorned with ornate designs of flowers, birds, dragons, crabs, and beautiful geometrical tiles. Since this is a residential area, it’s less crowded than elsewhere in Singapore. That said, come in the morning or afternoon (before or after rush hour) to skip most of the crowds.

The MRT doesn’t serve the east coast well, so it’s best to catch bus #33 or #16 to Joo Chiat. From here, it’s a short 5-minute walk to these cute and Instagram-worthy houses.

With a 163-year-old history, the Singapore Botanic Gardens is a beautiful oasis and the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of Singapore.

The gardens, which also happen to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site, cover a whopping 82 hectares. It is full of lush plant life, beautifully themed garden, forests, and peaceful lakes. There are tons of places to take photos, but the most Instagrammable place has to be the Orchid Garden’s golden archway.

The Golden Archway at Singapore Botanic Gardens is yet another Instagram-worthy place in the city.

It’s free to enter the gardens, but there is a small fee (SG$5) to enter the National Orchid Garden. Here, you’ll get to see thousands of orchid species, wander through lush archways and be awed by the beautiful plant life surrounding you. For a unique experience, consider joining this  Botanic Garden tour & picnic .

Since the gardens are open from 5:30 to midnight, it’s a great add-on to your list of Instagrammable places in Singapore. Take the Circle Line (orange) or Downtown Line (blue) and hop off at the Botanic Gardens MRT Station.

Fort Canning Park Tree Tunnel

Fort Canning Tunnel is one of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore

Fort Canning Park Tree Tunnel is a gorgeous underground staircase in Fort Canning Park. Its beauty lies in the juxtaposition of architectural details of the stairs next to the soft cascading green vines. Plus, when you look up, the sky peeks through the tree branches while the sun casts light over the entire staircase. The whole scene is rather magical.

To take the best Instagram photo, stand or sit on the flat surface in the middle of the spiral staircase. Ask your photographer to angle the camera upwards and be close to the ground. Then ask your photographer to run up the stairs and take a photo of you from above. Most people only take a picture from below and not from the top. Both views are equally stunning!

Since visiting Fort Canning Park is one of the best  free things to do in Singapore , there may be long queues for taking photos at the staircase. Try to go early on a weekday and avoid weekends and holidays.

Take the MRT to Dhoby Ghaut station and walk 6 minutes from Exit B. The tree tunnel is at the north end of the park.

Jewel Changi Airport

Singapore's latest Instagram spot is the stunning Jewel at Changi Airport

Jewel Changi Airport is one of Singapore’s newest attractions. It is easy to overlook that it is a mall when its architecture and features are so Instagram-worthy.

You will find the world’s largest indoor waterfall behind a skin of triangular glass panels and lush indoor gardens at its heart. Between 9 am and 11.30 pm daily, the water cascades 40 meters from the ceiling to the mall’s basement.

The best time to go is the evening; every hour from 7.30 pm to 11.30 pm, it turns into a light-and-music spectacle. Grab a spot early on any of the above-ground floors (free) or watch it from the canopy park ($5).

Another way to see it is to take the Skytrain between Terminals 2 and 3. Take note that Jewel is on the Changi Airport’s landside, so if you’re  in transit in Singapore , you need to clear immigration to get there.

Macritchie Treetop Walk

Macritchie Treetop Walk

When people think of Singapore, most imagine high-end shopping and sophisticated rooftop bars. But, there is so much more to Singapore.

There are plenty of spots dotted around this island that are lush green havens. Some include tourist attractions for eco-tourism, like  Gardens by the Bay .

The Macritchie Treetop Walk is a great place to go on a bushwalk. The walk will take two to three hours from the Venus Drive Carpark and features a 250-meter long suspension bridge providing some great jungle views.

Bus #167 will take you from many tourist spots, such as Somerset, Dhoby Ghaut, and City Hall. Get off at the ‘Opposite Flame Tree Park’ stop. Following your route on Google Maps makes it super easy to get there.

Because the jungle is relatively sheltered, you do not need to arrive at sunrise or sunset for the perfect lighting. The best time to visit will be around 8 am to 10 am, or from 3 pm to 5 pm. This is when the sun isn’t at its harshest, so the lighting for photography will be more favorable.

One of Singapore's latest attractions, and an increasingly popular Instagram spot - the stunning Henderson Waves.

Swirling above the city in a swerve of slatted wood, the Henderson Waves walkway takes you above the treetops in one of the most picturesque ways imaginable. Built from balau wooden ribs, the walkway extends for 274 meters at 36 meters above the ground.

It’s a place for romantic couples, children playing, and solo travelers, young and old, to stride through the sky. The design leads to nests and nooks in the walkway, so it’s easy to stop and set up a tripod, read a book or gaze at the stars.

Illuminations run from 7 pm to 7 am daily, adding another dimension to its beauty. It’s very popular at weekends, so early mornings during the week provide the best chances of having the place to yourself.

You can reach the Henderson Waves through either Telok Blangah Hill Park or Mount Faber Park. Take the Circle Line (orange line).

And if you wish to hike further, the Henderson Waves walkway is part of a 5km long Southern Ridges Walk and a great addition to  any Singapore trip.

Sentosa Island singapore at sunset

If youā€™re looking to make good use of all your favorite Instagram beach captions , Sentosa is just the place to do that! Known as Singapore’s playground,  Sentosa Island  is the fun place to be in Singapore. Home to Singapore’s best beaches, beachfront resorts, bars, restaurants, and a host of attractions, you could easily spend your entire Singapore vacation just in Sentosa!

You can spend your day riding the rollercoasters at Universal Studios, zipping down water slides at Adventure Cove Waterpark, or marveling at the 100,000 marine creatures at the Southeast Asia Aquarium. Enjoy sundowners in one of the fun beach bars before dining in style and then end your day trying your luck in the 24-hour casino. It’s all up for grabs on Sentosa!

Even getting to Sentosa is fun, with the choice of transport options, including cable car, monorail, or walking across the water via the footbridge. Of course, you could also take a taxi ā€“ it’s only a 15-minute drive from downtown Singapore.

old hill street police station instagrammable singapore

If you’re visiting Clarke Quay or Fort Canning Park, you have to stop by the Old Hill Street Police Station!

The Old Hill Street Police Station is a huge must on your Singapore Instagram spots hit list and one of the city’s prettiest historical landmarks. Built in 1934, it served as a police station and barracks for many years before being crowned as a National Monument in 1998. More than 150 police officers and their families lived here back in the day, and it was known as one of the most important police stations in the city center.

While the Old Hill Street Police Station certainly has an interesting past, today, it’s a photo hot spot and home to the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI). With 927 rainbow-colored window shutters painted in everything from red and blue to green, purple, and yellow, it’s a cool place to snap beautiful pics for your Instagram feed.

For the best photography, come early in the morning when crowds are minimal or at night when the building is illuminated. A great angle to picture the building in its entirety is from across the street.

Take the North-East MRT Line (purple) to Clarke Quay Station and walk 4 minutes from Exit F to get there.

Where to stay in Singapore

Singapore has no shortage of  excellent accommodation options . While most of the accommodation in Singapore is quite expensive, there’s plenty of choice for those traveling on a shoestring.

If this is your  first time in Singapore , the  Marina Bay neighborhood  is an excellent base. Not only will you be close to the city center, but you’ll also have easy access to Singapore’s top attractions, museums, parks, and booming nightlife scene. That said, expect to pay premium prices.

Best places to stay near Marina Bay

  • Luxury:  If you’re looking for the creme de la creme , it doesn’t get better than Singapore’s most iconic hotel ā€”  Marina Bay Sands . It will cost you a pretty penny, but the views from the infinity pool, excellent service, and lovely decor of this 5-star property will surely make up for it.
  • Affordable Luxury: Fullerton Bay Hotel is a beautiful 5-star property located mere steps from the Marina. Boasting elegant interiors, breathtaking views, and a gorgeous rooftop pool, The Fullerton is an excellent base for those looking for an upscale stay at surprisingly affordable rates.
  • Mid-range:  While  Naumi Hotel Singapore  is located in the heart of the city, it is within walking distance to the Marina. It’s the right choice for travelers looking for something a bit more affordable without sacrificing style and comfort.

Cheap Places to stay in Singapore

For cheaper accommodation in Singapore , the neighborhoods of  Little India, China Town, Bugis, and Geylang  offer excellent budget-friendly accommodation at a fraction of the price you’ll find elsewhere in Singapore. While these areas aren’t nearly as glitzy as Marina Bay, they’re filled with character, cute shophouses, loads of hipster hangouts, and enticing food bazaars. Here are my top choices:

  • Affordable Luxury:  With lots of shops, restaurants, and an MRT station nearby,  Hotel NuVe Heritage  is the perfect base for travelers looking for an upscale stay at reasonable rates. The 4-star property is located less than 2km away from the excitement of the city center.
  • Mid-range:   Hotel Mono  is a beautiful Instagram-worthy boutique hotel mere steps from the Chinatown MRT Station. You’ll be right in Chinatown’s hustle and bustle, with easy access to cool restaurants, bars, clubs, and shopping.
  • Budget:   MET A Space Pod  is a funky hostel and an excellent budget-friendly option for your stay in Singapore. The hostel is only 50m from Arab Street and a great place to stay if you want to be close to excellent food and shopping.

Best time to visit Singapore

Since Singapore is located just north of the equator, it has a  tropical climate . The weather is typically  hot and humid , with average temperatures ranging between 25Ā°C and 33Ā°C. It’s a great year-round destination, but there are a few months that are typically more pleasant to visit Singapore. The  best time to visit Singapore is from February to April  when it has the least rainfall and the lowest humidity.

January is the coldest month   in Singapore , with an average low temperature of 26Ā°C. The  hottest months fall between May to July , with average temperatures in the mid to upper 30’s. It’s best to avoid Singapore during the warmer months, especially if you aren’t accustomed to sweltering heat.

Unlike other countries nearby like Thailand and Malaysia , there are no distinct wet or dry seasons in Singapore, and every single month sees some rainfall. That said, the heaviest precipitation occurs during the  two monsoon seasons  ā€”Northeast Monsoon Season (Dec-March) and the Southwest Monsoon Season (June-Sept).

That wraps up this Singapore photo guide! If you have any Instagrammable places in Singapore to add to this list, let me know in the comments below.

Gardens by the bay supertree grove .

The highlight of any  Singapore itinerary   is without a doubt the massive Supertree Grove. In total, there are 18 tree-like structures that serve as vertical gardens for a lush collection of orchids, vines, and ferns.

Some of the Supertrees are even equipped with photovoltaic cells to harvest solar energy which is used to light up the trees at night for the Garden Rhapsody Show!

Two of them are connected to each other by the OCBC skywalk that you can access for a fee of S$ 8 (US$ 5.85) and S$ 5 (US$ 3.65) for children. Otherwise, the Supertrees are completely free to visit between 5 a.m to 2 a.m.

Future World inherits team Labā€™s wildly imaginative aesthetics and provides immersive experiences with their digital exhibits. Keep aside at least one hour for the exhibition and look out for one of the best photography places in Singapore: ā€œCrystal Universeā€.

ā€œCrystal Universeā€ can be tricky to photograph as it brings you through a narrow path surrounded by a spectrum of LED crystals. Street Arts on Mohamed Ali Lane

Situated on Mohamed Ali Lane, just across Southbridge Road are several street arts by the Singaporean artist Yip Yew Chong. One of the murals narrates the story of families who used to co-live in the same house despite their differences in ethnicities, culture and religion.

Yipā€™s murals are colorful, fun and interactive, making them the perfect backdrops for your Instagram photos!

You can find more of his murals all over Chinatown along Amoy, Smith, and Temple Streets and behind Thian Hock Keng Temple on which he painted an impressive 44-meter mural. You can find more about Yipā€™s work here .

Sri Mariamman Temple

The Sri Mariamman Temple is located in Chinatown at the corner of Southbridge Road and Pagoda Street. Built in 1827, itā€™s the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore.

The most prominent feature of the temple is its six-tier tower covered by colorful sculptures of Hindu deities and other mythological figures.

The temple is open daily from 7 a.m to 12 p.m and from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. Entrance is free and make sure to dress appropriately by covering your shoulders and knees.

Note : The temple facade is currently under renovation but youā€™re still allowed to go inside.

Pagoda Street

Pagoda Street in Chinatown is packed with vendors selling cheap souvenirs, clothes and delicious food. It’s also famous for its colorful shophouses and Chinese lanterns which provide endless photo opportunities!

While youā€™re there donā€™t forget to sample some local dishes and the famous ice-cream sandwich, a must-eat when in Singapore!

Potato Head

If you enjoy juxtaposing the historical and the contemporary in your photographs, Singapore has no shortage of such opportunities. The Tong Ah Eating House building at the junction of Teck Lim and Keong Saik Roads has stood since 1939, its name and the year of its founding proudly emblazoned on the Art Deco facade.

In the background stands the ultra-modern Pinnacle@Duxton and its rooftop gardens. In 2013, the eponymous coffee shop moved across the road and Potato Head Singapore took over the premises. For the price of a cocktail, you can access the rooftop bar.

The building’s resemblance to a ship’s bow makes it stand out among the neighboring shophouses, which house an eclectic mix of old-school eateries and cocktail and  craft beer bars .

Potato Head is open daily from 11 a.m until late and is situated just a short walk from Chinatown MRT station.

Clarke Quay

Clarke Quay is a historical and colorful waterfront area just north of Chinatown and set on the Singapore River. It’s lined with colonial architecture and colorful shophouses. The area is well known for its nightlife with colorful bars, restaurants, and shops with lots of lights, music, and action.

You’ll get some excellent shots if you take a river cruise from Clarke Quay with brilliant views of the surrounding area including stunning skyscrapers, Boat Quay, Robertson Quay and some major landmarks like Marina Bay and Merlion.

Clarke Quay is free to wander around and open 24/7. The quickest and easiest way to get there is by MRT.

Tip: You should be able to get some great night shots with the reflections of the buildings in the water.

MCI Building (Old Hill Police Station)

Located on Hill Street right next to Fort Canning Park, you canā€™t miss the MCI building thanks to its 927 windows painted in the colors of the rainbow.

Constructed in the Neoclassical style and designated as a National Monument in 1998, the building was previously used as Singaporeā€™s first jail and Police station. Nowadays, itā€™s the office of the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI).

It can be a bit tricky to get a photo of the building without cars in the frame but they do add some interest to the photo. Just stand along the side of the road and avoid crossing outside of the designated areas since thereā€™s usually a lot of traffic here.

The MCI building is located within walking distance of the Clark Quay MRT station.

Fort Canning Park Tree Tunnel

The Fort Canning Park Tree Tunnel is a spiral staircase at the north end of Fort Canning Park. When you look up from the bottom of the staircase, you can see greenery cascading down the circular edge along with several trees and the blue sky in the background.

Even if you are  traveling solo to Singapore,  you can take a stunning Instagram photo of yourself at the tree tunnel. Either sit or stand on the wide ledge in the middle of the staircase and ask someone to take a picture of you from below and above. Most people only take photos from the bottom, but the shot from above is just as amazing!

Bring a wide-lens camera and go early on a weekday as there are always long queues.

Visiting the Fort Canning Park Tree Tunnel requires no entrance fee. Take the MRT to Dhoby Ghaut (NE6), go through Exit B and walk for about six minutes.

National Gallery Singapore

The National Gallery Singapore owns the most extensive public collection of modern art in Southeast Asia. The gallery aims to be a progressive museum that creates dialogues between art and the world to encourage a creative and inclusive society.

With such ambition, the gallery successfully attracts tourists, including those who barely have a sense of art and only want to take photos for their Instagram feed.

The gallery is spread across two beautiful national monuments: City Hall and the country’s former Supreme Court, and is easily reached via MRT.

Open from 10 a.m to 7 p.m, the entrance fee is S$20 (US$ 14.60). If you want to get a discount, you can buy your ticket in advance on Klook .

Masjid sultan .

The Masjid Sultan is the largest and most important mosque in Singapore. Constructed in 1824 at the request of Sultan Hussein Shah, the mosque can accommodate up to 5,000 worshippers at a time!

Right in front of the mosque, youā€™ll find a small alley flanked by little boutiques and restaurants which offers the perfect vantage point for photographing Masjid Sultan.

The mosque is open from Monday to Saturday and guided tours are also available.

Haji Lane

If youā€™re looking for one of the most colorful Instagram spots in Singapore, Haji Lane is where you should be headed! Here, youā€™ll find dozens of colorful street arts covering the whole alley and trendy bars and cafes, perfect for hanging out with friends.

As always, coming early will allow you to beat the crowds and you’ll have enough time to take photos without anyone else in the shot.

The closest MRT station is Bugis and if youā€™re traveling by bus, stop at ā€œOpp Duo Residencesā€ along Ophir Road and walk a few meters ahead until you find a small side road on your left.

If youā€™re already visiting the Sultan Mosque, you can easily reach Haji Lane on foot in just a few minutes.

Tan Teng Niah House

Mixing Southern Chinese and European architecture, the colorful Tan Teng Niah House is one of my favorite Instagrammable places in Singapore!

Located in Little India, the house was built back in 1900 by a local businessman named Tan Teng Niah. Unlike its neighboring buildings and houses, Tan Teng Niah House wasnā€™t destroyed during the transition of Singapore into a booming economy and was restored in the 1980s.

Every single facade of the building is painted in different hues of the rainbow and today it attracts thousands of tourists looking to add some color to their Instagram feed.

Tan Teng Niah House is situated just a few meters from Little India MRT station and is free to visit.

Rain Vortex at Jewel Changi

The highlight of Changi Airport is definitely the Rain Vortex, a 40-meter waterfall flowing in a single column through different levels of the Jewel.

Located just outside of the arrival hall at Terminal 1, this fairly new attraction is accessible to both locals and travelers.

Even if you have a short layover in Singapore, you can still visit the Rain Vortex by taking the Skytrain that runs between T2 and T3. Otherwise, you need to go through immigration before you can fully experience the Jewel since itā€™s located outside of the transit area.

While the Rain Vortex is free to visit, the other attractions like the canopy park and mirror maze require an entrance fee.

The Rain Vortex is open from 11 a.m to 10 p.m from Monday to Thursday and from 10 a.m to 10 p.m from Friday to Sunday.

Come at night for the Light and Sound show which takes place at 8 p.m and 9 p.m from Monday to Thursday and at 8 p.m, 9 p.m and 10 p.m from Friday to Sunday.

Sentosa Island

For those who thought that Singapore couldn’t be a beach destination, Sentosa proved them wrong!

With picture-perfect white sand and turquoise water, Sentosa is a man-made island located on the south coast and one of the best photo spots in Singapore. Also known as the “State of Fun”, the island is home to a theme park, casino, luxury resorts, beaches, and more.

There are three beaches on Sentosa – Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong that you can explore for free. The most picturesque one being Palawan beach with its rope bridge that leads to the southernmost point of Continental Asia.

To get to Sentosa you can either take the boardwalk from Vivo City, ride the cable car from Mount Faber Station ( buy tickets here ), or take the Sentosa Express.

Peranakan Houses on Joo Chiat Road

The Peranakan Houses on Joo Chiat Road are by far the most colorful Instagram worthy places in Singapore! Dating back to the 1900s, the houses are adorned with intricate mosaic tiles and painted in pastel colors.

When taking photos, avoid standing in the middle of the road. Instead, shoot along the pedestrian pathway and please be respectful as itā€™s a residential area.

Since Joo Chiat Road is found outside of the city center, it wonā€™t be too crowded, making it perfect to visit at any time of the day.

The quickest way to get there is by taking a Grab taxi. Alternatively, if youā€™re on a budget, you can take the bus but be prepared for a much longer ride.

Haw Par Villa

Haw Par Villa is one of the worldā€™s most unique theme parks, filled with a collection of brash, garish and often ghoulish statues and dioramas. The statues are a fantastic mix of humans and animals re-enacting morality tales from Chinese and Buddhist folklore.

Alongside statues of Buddha and Confucius are huge dioramas that recount famous Chinese fables such as the Journey to the West or the story of the Eight Immortals. Venture into the infamous Ten Courts of Hell to see the gruesome punishments served up to unrepentant sinners.

Haw Par Villa  is usually free of crowds, leaving you to fill your Instagram feed in peace. To get there, head to Haw Par Villa MRT station – the exit is just outside the entrance to the theme park.

Haw Par Villa is open from 9 a.m to 8 p.m daily. Entrance is free though there are excellent guided tours every day that cost S$10 (US$ 7.25) per person.

So, if youā€™re looking for a hidden Instagram worthy place in Singapore, make sure to visit this one!

Singapore Botanic Garden

The Singapore Botanic Garden was founded in 1859. It proudly displays the best and most magnificent tropical flora in a wonderful setting that you can spend hours exploring.

Being the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in  Singapore , the Botanic Gardens are not just historically exciting but an Instagrammerā€™s paradise with unique and exotic plant specimens and beautifully manicured spaces.

The highlight, however, has to be the National Orchid Garden with over three hectares of meticulously planned gardens home to 1,000 species and 2,000 hybrids of Orchid.  There are four separate color zones, and the emphasis on design is evident.

Open from 5 a.m to 12 p.m daily, the Botanic Garden is free to visit while the Orchid section has a S$15 (US$ 10.95) entrance fee for tourists.

Come early, or late in the day to avoid crowds, and preferably not on weekends.

Tiong Bahru

Tiong Bahru is a hipster neighborhood with a mix of contemporary and traditional architecture, and is home to one of the oldest housing estates in Singapore. Many 1930s art deco government residential blocks still remain and were built in a style called Streamline Moderne – featuring clean lines, rounded corners, and nautical features such as porthole windows.

There has been a lot of gentrification in the area in recent years and Tiong Bahru has become a very trendy spot, attracting many artists and creatives. The neighborhood is filled with pretty cafes, art galleries, and boutique fashion /record stores.

Street art fans will love the large Instagrammable mural paintings depicting scenes of Tiong Bahru’s history tucked within its alleys.

Tip : there are free guided walking tours available run by locals who live on the estate on the first weekend of each month.

Japanese and Chinese Gardens

The Japanese and Chinese Gardens may be a bit off the beaten track but the view and peaceful atmosphere are well worth the effort to get there.

Situated on the west side of Singapore, on Jurong Lake, the gardens boast an incredible collection of Bonsai trees, Pagodas, and statues of Chinese heroes.

Admission is free of charge and the gardens are open every day from 6 a.m to 11 p.m. The entrance is located less than 400 meters from the Chinese Garden MRT station.

Note : The Chinese and Japanese Gardens are currently under renovation. You can instead visit the Lakeside Garden located nearby.

MacRitchie TreeTop Walk

The TreeTop Walk is set in the middle of the  fabulous MacRitchie Reservoir . The 250-meter long bridge is one of the most hidden Instagrammable places in Singapore. You can walk between the canopy of the surrounding trees while observing the vegetation and wildlife from a different angle, at times over 20 meters above the ground.

The MacRitchie Reservoir is situated quite far from Singaporeā€™s main attractions. Take the MRT to Marymount and then a bus to Windsor Road or walk from the MRT station.

The TreeTop Walk is free of charge and the opening hours are 9 a.m to 5 p.m from Tuesday to Friday, and 8.30 a.m to 5 p.m during the weekend. Plan to visit as early as possible to beat the crowds and avoid the heat, preferably before noon.

Posted on Last updated: January 13, 2021

Instagram is playing an increasingly big role in the way people travel and capture their memories. After all, if you travelled somewhere and didn’t share a photo of it on Instagram, were you even really there?

Singapore is one of those destinations where there are Instagram-worthy spots all over the city; the contrast between modern high-rise buildings and colourful houses makes it an Instagrammers dream destination.

If you search for Singapore on Instagram you will find 28 MILLION results, but are all these shots really Instagram worthy?

If you’re planning a trip to Singapore and want to make all your friends on social media jealous, check out this guide to the best Instagrammable places in Singapore.

The Supertree Grove, Singapore

The Supertree Grove, Singapore

The most Instagram-worthy landmarks in Singapore

Gardens by the bay (supertree grove).

Gardens by the Bay is not only one of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore, but also one of the most famous attractions of the city, and a must-see on any Singapore itinerary .

Gardens by the Bay is a nature park in the centre of Singapore, right next to the Marina Reservoir.

While there are some paid attractions in the Gardens, access to the vast majority of the 250 acres of Gardens by the Bay is free for anyone who wants to escape the busy streets of Singapore and immerse themselves in nature.

The most famous spot in Gardens by the Bay is the Supertree Grove, no trip to Singapore would be complete without an Instagram photo by the trees. Bonus points if you get Marina Bay Sands in the back of the shot too.

Get the exact location here .

Cloud Forest

One of the famous landmarks within Gardens by the Bay there is the Cloud Forest. This is one of the attractions within Gardens by the Bay that you have to buy a ticket for in order to go inside.

You can purchase a ticket online beforehand if you want to avoid the queues, alternatively you can purchase one at the kiosk on the day.

It’s 12 SGD for access to the Cloud Forest, or 20 SGD if you want to access both Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome.

If you’re looking for the most Instagrammable spots in Singapore, I personally think the Cloud Forest makes for a better Instagram shot.

The huge indoor rainforest, which is also home to the highest indoor waterfall, makes for the perfect photo backdrop.

ArtScience Museum

Located right next to Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands, you will find the ArtScience Museum. The ArtScience is considered one of the best museums in Singapore , and it’s easy to see why.

Besides having some very Instagrammable spots inside it (like this room with the sparkly lights, anyone else seen it on Instagram before?) it is also a very fun and interesting place to spend an afternoon, if you’re a bit of a nerd and child inside like me.

The first time I visited Singapore I was only there for a 12-hour layover and I spent the majority of it in the ArtScience Museum.

There are a number of different exhibitions going on, all built to be informative and interactive. Not the most conventional place to go looking for photos, but very Instagram worthy nonetheless.

Helix Bridge

Helix Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that connects Marina Centre with Marina South, and is designed to represent DNA.

The bridge becomes especially Instgrammable if you visit at night, when all the lights come on and create a special visual experience for pedestrians walking the bridge.

If you’re trying to walk around Singapore it also offers some shade thanks to the coloured canopies that are fitted in the double helix.

Singapore Flyer

The Singapore Flyer is a giant ferris wheel, that offers plenty of Instagram photo opportunities, regardless of whether you actually go for a ride on the ferris wheel or not.

Similarly to the London Eye (which also features on my lis of most Instagrammable places in London ) the Singapore Flyer provides stunning views over the Singapore harbour and skyline.

If you’re afraid of heights or don’t have the time to go for a Ferris wheel ride no need to worry, you can get plenty of Instagrammable shots from the ground of the structure itself.

The most Instagrammable buildings in Singapore

Old hill street police station.

A police station might seem like an odd choice to add to a list of Instagram worthy places, however the Old Hill Street Police Station in Singapore has a well deserved spot in this guide.

The rainbow coloured blinds stand out against the white building and make it the perfect backdrop for an Instagram photo.

If you want to be in the photo just be careful and make sure you watch out for traffic, the road on which the police station is located is extremely trafficked!

The colourful houses of Koon Seng Road

One of the things that surprised me most about Singapore was the amount of cute little coloured houses, located right next to fancy tall skyscrapers.

There are a number of streets in Singapore where you can the traditional small and coloured houses, however the buildings in Koon Seng Road are in my opinion the most Instagrammable.

Every house is a different colour from its neighbour, creating a beautiful pop of colour in the city.

Check out the exact location of these houses here .

Tan Teng Niah’s house in Little India

If you thought the colourful houses of Koon Seng Road were Instagram-worthy, you will absolutely love Tan Teng Niah’s former house in Little India.

Built in 1900 it is the last surviving Chinese villa in Little India, and was the house of a Chinese businessman.

Today it provides a beautiful backdrop for people’s Instagram photos and an interesting history for those who want to read up on it.

Marina Bay Sands seen from (across the harbour)

I know we’ve had Marina Bay Sands on this list already, but when you’re one of the most famous and interesting buildings in Singapore you’re bound to come up more than once in a list of Instagrammable photo spots.

The view from the rooftop pool is simply stunning, however if you’re looking to get a photo of the building itself, with its three distinctive towers and rooftop pool, you’ll have to step a bit further away.

I personally found the best view from across the harbour from Esplanade Drive, close to the Merlion Fountain, where you can get both Marina Bay Sands and the Art Science Museum (another very cool looking building) in the same shot.

Click here to see the exact location of this shot.

Masjid Sultan

Masjid Sultan is considered one of the most important mosques in Singapore. The mosque is located in Arab Street, one of hipster and cool areas of Singapore.

With its colourful buildings, street markets, restaurants and shops Arab Street is a funky area to walk around once you’re done snapping your Instagram photos.

People’s Park Complex

This spot is the perfect example of how the most random places can be made famous by social media.

People’s Park Complex is a high rise residential and commercial building, whose only special feature is a striking yellow facade that can act as a perfect retro backdrop for pretty much any type of photos.

There’s a large concrete car park behind the building which means plenty of space for taking all those Instagrammable shots.

The most Instagram worthy hotels in Singapore

Marina bay sands.

The rooftop pool of Marina Bay Sands , with its stunning view over the skyline of Singapore has quickly become one of the most famous and Instagrammed spots in Singapore.

After all, if you’d paid £300 per night to sleep in such a fancy hotel, you’d want all your friends on social media to know right?

The pool is only accessible to people who stay in the hotel so if you want that shot you will have to make the investment, being cool on social media can be expensive.

To get a cool shot make sure to head up there early in the morning, before the crowds storm the pool (check this guide if you’re looking for more beautiful and Instagrammable hotels with rooftop pools in Singapore ).

Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong

Since not all of us have £300 to drop on one night in a hotel room, last time I visited Singapore I was set on finding myself a hotel with an equally epic rooftop pool view, without breaking the bank.

Hotel Indigo in Katong provided just that, and much more. The rooftop pool might not be quite as tall as that of Marina Bay Sands but it still has an epic view over the surrounding rooftops.

The interior décor of the bedrooms is also very Instagrammable, thanks to the stylish furniture choices and the big floor to ceiling windows.

A small number of the rooms have the bathroom located by the windows, meaning that for an extra £15 a night you can get a cool shot of casually chilling in the bath tub while enjoying the view over Singapore.

Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay

You get it, this list of most Instagram worthy hotels in Singapore features a lot of pools with a view.

The Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay is another good alternative for those who want to swim with a view over the rooftops of Singapore without breaking the bank.

It’s also located very central to both Marina Bay and all the cool bars and restaurants along Clarke Quay.

The Quincy Hotel by Far East Hospitality

The Quincy Hotel by Far East Hospitalty also has a pool with a view, even if it’s not a rooftop pool it makes up for the lower floor with a cool design.

I mean who wouldn’t want to be sipping cocktails while enjoying the sunset over the skyline of Singapore?

What I use to take my Instagram photos

Now you know the best locations in Singapore to take epic Instagram photos, but you still need some guidance on what to use to take those photos and make sure they’re epic and Instagrammable.

I’ve listed below all the gear I use myself to take the photos and videos you see in this blog and my Instagram feed.

Nikon D3300 : I use this camera for pretty much everything. I’ve had it from before I started travel blogging and it’s considered one of the best DSLRs for beginners.

There are better cameras out there, but as far as value for money goes, especially if you’re a beginner with DLSRs, it’s a great camera. It’s a bit bulky but it’s easy to use and great for experimenting.

Nikon f/1.8 35mm lens : This lens will allow you to take photos with that nice blurred background effect (called bokeh) which will make your Instagram photos look very pro (see below).

It’s compatible to a number of different Nikon cameras so you can use it even if you don’t have my same camera body.

Manfrotto compact tripod : If you travel solo and don’t trust strangers to take good photos of you, consider investing in a tripod. I have a Manfrotto compact tripod and love it since it’s so light and easy to carry around.

Selfie stick : If you don’t want to carry around a tripod, go for a selfie stick instead.  Almost everyone has one these days and you won’t stand out for using one.

Some of the links in this post may be affiliate links. This means that I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products, hotels and experiences that I personally use, love and spend my own money on.

Instagram-Worthy Places in Singapore

Artscience museum.

Located within the Marina Bay Sands Resort , the ArtScience Museum is an awesome blend of science, art, and technology. Future World: Where Art Meets Science is a permanent exhibit at ArtScience Museum. It presents a fascinating collection of high-tech digital artwork. There are four prominent themes present at Future World: Space, Nature, Town and Park. All of the themes are worth visiting, but itā€™s the Space theme where you will find the Instagram-worthy Crystal Universe.

More than 170,000 LED lights create the visual of stars traveling through space. The Crystal Universe exhibit at ArtScience Museum is one of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore for good reason.

The setting is incredibly photogenic. Additionally, the in-person experience of being surrounded by tens of thousands of twinkling blue and purple lights is amazing. A path leads visitors to walk through the center of the exhibit and it feels like you have entered another world.

Haji Lane is a narrow, colorful street tucked away in the Kampong Glam area of Singapore, the cityā€™s Muslim enclave. Itā€™s immediately obvious why Haji Lane is a popular place to stroll aimlessly.

Colorful, charming shophouses line the streets and provide so much character. You can also expect to stumble upon random pieces of beautiful street art along walls of Haji Lane.

In addition, Haji Lane is an awesome place to stroll and browse boutiques, cafes, and bars in the Kampong Glam neighborhood. If you like Middle Eastern cuisine, you will want to explore the streets around Haji Lane and check out the many restaurants in the area.

On the corner of the block before you enter Haji Lane there is a really neat wall mural next to some trees. You canā€™t really miss it from the sidewalk, but I took advantage of this as a photo spot since it was quiet.

Best Photo Spots in Singapore: Haji Lane Street Art

Masjid Sultan Mosque

Just a few blocks over from the picturesque Haji Lane you will find another Instagram-worthy place in Singapore. Masjid Sultan is arguably Singaporeā€™s most popular mosque. Located in the Kampong Glam district, the mosque dates back to 1824 and still serves as a primary place of worship today for both locals and tourists alike.

While I did not go inside of the mosque, the view of the exterior is stunning. Thereā€™s a pedestrian lane that leads up to Masjid Sultan and offers the perfect view. I love the huge gold domes that top Masjid Sultan, along with the colored trim and details. I have not been able to visit many mosques in my life, so this was a unique experience for me and I was stunned by its beauty.

When I visit destinations so rich in history, I often like to take a tour with a local guide. This guided walk through Kampong Glam explores Masjid Sultan, local street art, and much more.

The pedestrian lane leading up to the front of the mosque is the perfect angle for that instagram-worthy shot. Pretty palm trees and characteristic restaurants line the street and add to the overall vibe of the photo. I loved taking shots looking straight down the road at the mosque.

Joo Chiat Road

If youā€™ve done any research at all on Instagram-worthy places in Singapore then youā€™ve likely seen photos of the bright and colorful shophouses. This is Joo Chiat Road. Located in the eastern area of Singapore, Joo Chiat Road sits in the Katong Neighborhood.

This is one of Singaporeā€™s most historic areas with a deep-rooted Peranakan culture and story. The shophouses on Joo Chiat Road come in just about every color you can imagine. The ornate facades and floral ceramic tiles are a design dream.

Tourists wander back and forth along the one-block of vibrant homes. Joo Chiat Road is not located in the city center, but visiting this part of the city is worth it. The neighborhood is home to a ton of excellent food choices. I stayed one night in Katong neighborhood during my time in Singapore so that I could thoroughly experience it.

The colorful shophouse line both sides of the street, so there are so many different angles to choose from. If you are solo you might want to have a tripod with you. I often try to find things in the area to set my camera on before I bust out the tripod, but this was an area where my tripod definitely came in handy. Other tourists are generally very kind and willing to take a photo if you ask nicely. They probably want the same in return anyway.

Level-33 is a craft-brewery restaurant and bar located in the penthouse of the Marina Bay Financial Center. It is the worldā€™s highest urban craft-brewery offering expansive views over Marina Bay and the Singapore city skyline.

The interior design is beautiful, with natural elements and stunning copper brew house kettles. But the view from the balcony is the Instagrammable sight that cannot be missed.

The scene from outside is what truly makes Level-33 one of Singaporeā€™s best photo spots. Whether you want to snap a selfie or a landscape shot of the city, photos from Level-33 are sure to be Instagram-worthy. Itā€™s hard to complain when you get to enjoy a stellar view along with a beer flight or glass of wine. Level-33 would also be an excellent spot to hang out and catch a sunset.

Since Level-33 is in Marina Bay Financial Center, people start to pour in as the work day is coming to an end. Especially if itā€™s a weekday, beware that it will start to fill up around 4 p.m. I arrived around 3:30 p.m. and my friend and I were able to grab the last open spot outside.

Sri Mariamman Temple

Sri Mariamman Temple is Singaporeā€™s oldest hindu temple. Sitting in the Chinatown district, this beautiful temple was built in 1827 by immigrants from Southern India. Because of its historical and cultural significance Sri Mariamman Temple has been listed as a national monument. It is extremely popular amongst locals and tourists alike.

Visiting Sri Mariamman Temple was my first time ever experiencing a hindu temple. I was in complete awe over the detail everywhere. The grand tower entrance is so colorful and ornate, I was blown away before I even saw the inside.

When I went inside there was some type of ritual taking place. Because I am quite unfamiliar with Hindu temples in general I am not sure what the event was. But it was a beautiful thing to stand back and experience. I popped in unexpectedly when passing by and ended up staying inside for over an hour.

The temple charges a few dollars for photo passes. I happily paid $3 or so to be able to photograph the inside of the temple. The exterior is incredibly photogenic with the detailed tower out front, but you will also find plenty of photo spots inside.

Helix Bridge

The Helix Bridge is a beautiful, bright, light-filled bridge that connects Marina South with Marina Centre. The bridge is pedestrian-only, so you will find many people walking and jogging across this beauty.

The design of the bridge is quite impressive and it is a special sight to see at night. The spiral formation wraps over the bridge creating a shade effect for people on the bridge during the sunny days.

Once the sun goes down, the Helix Bridge is an even more spectacular sight to see. The lights spiral across the bridge, creating an amazing scene from both inside the bridge or observing from the distance. After dark, this is one of the most Instagram-worthy places in Singapore.

Merlion Park

Merlion Park sits right along the water and is home of Singaporeā€™s famous and iconic half-lion, half-fish mythical creature. I had many questions about this, too.

This is a popular stop for travelers since the mythical Merlion is the countryā€™s national icon. It has the body of the fish and the head of a lion. Why, you ask? Well, let me tell you what I learned.

Apparently the lion part is in honor of the countryā€™s original name of Singapura which translates to ā€œlion cityā€ in Malay. Then thereā€™s the fish body which is supposed to be symbolic of Singaporeā€™s origins as a fishing village. So it all makes sense and itā€™s pretty neat once you understand the meaning behind it and why itā€™s so special to the people of Singapore.

Instagram-worthy places in Singapore: Merlion Park

Ce La Vi is a bar and lounge located on the rooftop level of Marina Bay Sands. Itā€™s hard to think of Singapore without thinking of the immaculate rooftop infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands. The view is arguably one of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore, but it comes at a price.

In order to swim in the dreamy pool at Marina Bay Sands, you have to be a hotel guest. If you want to be a hotel guest, get ready to fork out $450+ (US dollars) per night. When I was planning my trip I was honestly considering paying for just one night at Marina Bay Sands. Like many, I really want to swim and shoot photos at the infinity pool.

The lowest price I ever saw though was $450, which didnā€™t sit well with me. In the end, I couldnā€™t justify spending that much money. Especially when I knew the deep-rooted reason was really just to get photos from the infinity pool. Iā€™m really glad I didnā€™t pay the price to stay there when Ce La Vi offers the same view; and I get to keep my $450.

At Ce La Vie you sit right next to the infinity pool. Although, there is a waist-high plexiglass wall to remind you that you arenā€™t able to access the pool. For like 30 seconds you might feel slightly envious that you arenā€™t in the pool. You quickly get over it once the view distracts you and you have all of that money left to spend on other fun things.

Take advantage of the 360 degree view at Ce La Vi. Be sure to get up and walk around the entire spaceā€”you can see Singapore for miles in every direction. Note that they charge $20-ish for you to go up to Ce La Vi, but you then get to use that money towards drinks.

Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay

A trip to Singapore wouldnā€™t be complete without a visit to the unique and fascinating Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay. There are 12 Supertrees standing in the Supertree Grove and the tallest tree measures 16 stories high.

During the day the canopy trees shade visitors and at night they come to life with an elaborate show of lights. Each of the Supertrees serves as a vertical garden, which had me in awe when I finally saw them up close in real life.

Aerial walkways connect the treetops so you can visit the top and view of the gardens from above. The Supertree Grove section of Gardens by the Bay is free to visit, but there is a fee if you want to visit the top and walk the aerial walkways.

Itā€™s hard to find a bad spot to snap a shot of the Supertree Grove. Personally I love taking photos from some of the elevated platform areas that you come across before you make your way down to the Supertrees.

The line for the aerial walkway gets really long so I chose to take photos from other (free) spots I found surrounding the trees. Keep an eye out for viewpoints as you enter and make your way to the treesā€”you wonā€™t miss them.

Instagram-worthy Places in Singapore: Gardens by the Bay

Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay

Another Singapore photo spot and incredible creation is the Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay. A massive glass dome covers the Cloud Forest and houses a vast variety of tropical plant life.

The worldā€™s tallest indoor waterfall lives inside of the dome. In here humidity ranges from 80%-90% and the temperatures range from 73-77 degrees fahrenheit. The glass dome the protects the Cloud Forest is quite a fascinating feat in itself.

The dome itself is made up of over 2,500 different pieces of glass, which range in over 690 different shapes. Note that the Cloud Forest does not stay open as late as the free area at the Supertree Groves. At the time that I visited, the Cloud Forest latest entry was 8:30 p.m. and closed at 9:00 p.m.

You can plan ahead by purchasing your entry ticket in advance for the Cloud Forest. Click here to see available dates and ticket prices for Gardens by the Bay.

Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade

Iā€™ve shared a handful of Instagram-worthy Marina Bay views from above. We cannot ignore the fact that Marina Bay is just as beautiful and photo-worthy from the ground level.

If you plan to visit the ArtScience Museum or Marina Bay Sands, you will pass the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade on your way. The waterfront area hosts a number of events and activities so itā€™s happenā€™ spot. In just one day I witnessed a nighttime concert on the promenade, as well as a 5k race that took place along the water.

The Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade makes for a great Singapore photo spot both during the day and at night. Itā€™s nice because itā€™s such a big, wide area so you donā€™t have to worry about pushing and shoving past people to get a cool shot of the bay. This is also excellent people-watching territory, if that type of setting tends to intrigue you.

Instagram-worthy Places in Singapore: Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum is a popular attraction in Chinatown and one of the Instagram-worthy places in Singapore. You might assume that this sight is old and historical (I know I did) but it was actually built in 2007.

The story behind the name is that this temple is home to what is supposedly the recovered canine tooth of the Buddha. Whatever the story is, the temple is stunning and a must-see when you are exploring Singaporeā€™s Chinatown.

The exterior of the temple is grand and bold in color, it cannot be missed. The interior is ornate and full of so much color and detail. It was very lively when I visited with a large crowd inside worshipping, which was a really neat experience to observe.

Note that you must adhere to a dress code to enter the temple. If you are wearing a tank top on you can borrow a shawl upon entry to cover your shoulders.

Streets of Chinatown

Like pretty much every other Chinatown in the world, Singaporeā€™s Chinatown is full of bright color and traditional architecture. Of all the Chinatowns I have visited around the world, I think this one is by far my favorite.

Everything is so colorful and pretty, it almost seemed too perfect at times. The entire Chinatown vicinity is also impressively clean.Singaporeā€™s Chinatown is home to exotic market items, tasty restaurants, souvenir shops, and stores selling items from around the world.

Wandering the streets of Chinatown you are sure to find plenty of instagram-worthy places along with many tempting things to eat. Visit the area to take photos but be sure to show up hungry and experience many of the things you must eat while in Singapore.

There isnā€™t a specific spot that I want to recommend in Chinatown because so much of it is beautiful. If you in the direction behind the Buddhist Tooth Relic Temple you will land a good starting point to wander. Chinatown is fairly small, so you will likely walk the entirety of it and end back in the same spots.

I included Chinatown as a whole in this photo guide because Iā€™ve spoke to travelers who completely skip Chinatown while visiting Singapore. I highly recommend including a couple of hours in Chinatown as part of your Singapore travel itinerary. Itā€™s pretty, full of culture, and home to a hawker centre full of some of the cityā€™s best dishes.

Singapore is very photogenic, but it is also a foodie paradise! Make sure take time to experience the food scene here as well. If you want to taste the best of Chinatown a food tour is essential. This Chinatown food tour is the exact tour that I went on when I was in Singapore. Itā€™s amazing!

Little India

Little India is one of the main ethnic areas of Singapore. The streets are full of bright, bold color and the aroma of delicious Indian dishes fills the neighborhood. This is a great area to hit up when you are hungry.

Little India offers restaurants and dishes from the many different regions of India. The food from around the country is so diverse, containing many things Iā€™ve never even seen or heard of.

In addition to all of the tasty food lining the streets, be sure to check out the shopping scene. Mustafa Centre is a 24-hour shopping mall that sells just about anything a person could need at a strange hour of the night. Little India is home to a few major festivals throughout the year that are a must-visit if you happen to be in the city. Be sure to look up festival dates before your trip.

Little India is another area full of delicious food and so much history to learn. This neighborhood is another area where Iā€™d recommend joining a guide tour with a local. Check out this Little India Guided Walking Tour to make the most of your time here.

Central Perk Cafe

So this one might be nerdy to most people and if you feel that way then please feel free to move along to the next item. But for me and the friend I was traveling with, we just couldnā€™t visit Singapore without making a quick stop at Central Perk Cafe. This is a replica of the cafe on the TV series, Friends.

Here you can order silly menu items that are inspired by the shows characters and events from certain episodes. Itā€™s all pretty nerdy but fun. So if you are a fan of the show then why not pop in and check it out? You can think back on all of the good years of the sitcom, back when sitcoms were still awesome.

Here you can pose in Monicaā€™s kitchen from her apartment. You can also check out the setting where the gang used to hang out in at Central Perk cafe. I canā€™t believe Iā€™m actually writing this right now. Iā€™m literally laughing as I type, but yeah I donā€™t care. It was a cool, goofy place to see.

Cactus Garden at Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore really goes all out in everything they do. One of the first things I noticed when I entered Singapore by cab was how well-manicured the city was. I later learned that this is not limited to the city itself.

Even Singaporeā€™s Changi Airport takes great pride in its gardens and has an amazing onsite cactus garden for travelers to enjoy. The Changi Airport Cactus Garden is located in Terminal 1 on the roof.

There are over 100 species of cacti and plants in the rooftop garden, which come from all over the world. Also, there is a bar within the outdoor cactus garden if you want to hang out and enjoy a drink in this unique airport setting.

I mean, seriously? How often do you see something like this at an airport? Airports can be the worst. But having a cool, photogenic cactus garden to wander through to pass the time is exceptionally awesome. Take a stroll and youā€™ll be sure to find a spot that makes for the perfect cactus-themed Instagram photo backdrop.

Changi Airport Cactus Garden

Kinetic Rain at Singapore Changi Airport

This spot is a bit different compared to all of the others on the list, but I was so impressed by it. The Kinetic Rain sculpture is located in Singapore Changi Airport in Terminal 1 right when you walk in the door.

Itā€™s actually really hard for photos to do this exhibit justice because the movement of it is a huge part of why itā€™s so awesome. That said, I guess Iā€™m sharing this more for awareness because itā€™s definitely worth watching, photographing, and recording on video if you are in Terminal 1 at Changi.

According to Changi Airportā€™s website, Kinetic Rain is the biggest and most complex sculpture like this in the world. Watching it in action will immediately calm you, as the movement of it is so smooth, seamless, and oddly satisfying. The entire sculpture is made of 1,216 bronze droplets.

Before you even work on getting the perfect shot or video, just stand back and observe for a few minutes. This creation is fascinating and I was totally nerding out on it. I was almost late to board my flight because I couldnā€™t stop watching it.

Kinetic Rain Sculpture at Changi Airport Singapore

National Orchid Garden

Singaporeā€™s National Orchid Garden is a must-see for any nature-loving traveler. The lush green landscape is home to over 1,000 species and 2,00 hybrids. This results in over 60,000 orchid plants in the garden.

For a small entry fee the National Orchid Garden is clearly one of the best photo spots in Singapore. The National Orchid Garden sits within the Singapore Botanic Garden.

Orchids have historically been a part of the Singapore Botanic Garden but it was not until 1995 that the National Orchid Garden opened giving these beautiful flowers a place of their own. With so many different colors and varieties itā€™s one of the most exotic orchid collections in the world.

Itā€™s hard to find a spot in the National Orchid Garden that isnā€™t beautiful enough to be considered Instagram-worthy. Iā€™m personally drawn to the walkways that are surrounded by lush greenery and flowers and then topped off with overhead arches that surround you in natural beauty.

Instagram-Worthy Hotels in Singapore

Aria roof bar at the scarlet singapore.

Aria rooftop restaurant space feels like a secret hideaway in the middle of a bustling, busy city. I spent two nights at The Scarlet Singapore and was so happy to discover the stylish rooftop restaurant and lounge.

Not only are the food and drinks delicious, but the views surrounding the space are stellar. I sat at the bar in the evening to enjoy a few appetizers and drinks and I didnā€™t want to leave. The food at Aria is a Sicilian-inspired menu, which was also a nice change after two weeks of happily binging on traditional Asian food.

If you are looking for a romantic hotel or date setting in Singapore, this Instagram-worthy rooftop restaurant is a great option. I was there solo, which worked too, but Iā€™d definitely recommend this as a date spot. Here you can check pricing and availability at The Scarlet Singapore.

The rooftop space is L-shaped, offering views in different directions of the city. I wandered around the restaurant exploring the different angles of the city, which is especially stunning at night. I definitely recommend checking out this spot when itā€™s dark out because the city lights surrounding the venue is nothing short of magical.

Pool at Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong

I cannot say enough how much I love Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong. I know that most people come to Singapore with plans to, or maybe just dreams of, swimming in the pool at Marina Bay Sands. Everyone wants to have that picture perfect selfie of themselves hanging out at the worldā€™s most famous infinity pool while overlooking the entire city of Singaporeā€”but itā€™s really, really expensive.

But have no fear, there are other really amazing pools in Singapore that are just as Instagrammable for a much smaller price tag. The infinity pool at Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong is one of them.

I stayed one night at Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong because I wanted to experience the neighborhood. And, I wonā€™t lie, I really wanted to swim in the pool. Being much more affordable than Marina Bay Sands, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to experience the rooftop pool scene in Singapore. Infinity pools are clearly a thing in Singapore. Here you can check pricing and availability at Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong.

If youā€™re hoping to get the perfect Instagram shot of yourself in the infinity pool overlooking the city, I suggest heading to the pool first thing in the morning. This will give you the best odds of having the pool to yourself. Itā€™s so warm and humid in Singapore you can swim anytime of day or night and not be cold, so weather is not a concern.

Guest Room at Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong

Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong makes the list twice for having multiple amazing photo spots in Singapore. I partly wanted to spend a night at this property to swim in the infinity pool. The other part of me wanted to stay here because I fell completely in love with the guest room.

When I was planning my trip and saw a photo of this room, I knew I needed to stay here at least one night. The entire propertyā€™s design is inspired by the local Peranakan culture and history. The hotel is full of beautiful tile-inspired designed, hand-painted wall art, vibrant textiles and linens, and colorful photography from the local area.

The design is meaningful since it has a story but is also modern, sleek, clean, artistic, and hip. Itā€™s so many things at once but is so well done. I truly mean it when I say this is one of the most beautifully designed hotels Iā€™ve ever stayed in. It aligns perfectly with my personal style and taste. Here you can check pricing and availability at Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong.

I booked the King Premiere View Room with bath, in case you ever want to book this beauty for yourself. Itā€™s hard to find a portion of this room that isnā€™t Instagram-worthy. Between the wall art, the turquoise tiles, and of course the beautiful tub with floor-to-ceiling window views over Singapore, the aesthetic is so hot.

Raffles Hotel

The beautiful, classic Raffles Hotel has such a deep history and story. The colonial-style luxury property has been around since the late 1800s. This hotelā€™s interior and exterior are both a stunning sight.

The Raffles Hotel is also famous for supposedly being the birthplace of the Singapore Sling. The gin-based cocktail was created in 1915 at the hotel, according to the Raffles Hotel. The Singapore Sling is now regarded as being the national drink of Singapore.

The cocktail consists of primarily pineapple juice and grenadine, giving it a pink color. The story is that women were not allowed to drink in public at the time. Therefore this cocktail was created for them since it looks like itā€™s just juice, allowing women to secretly consume alcohol.

I know that this story has basically nothing to do with Raffles Hotel being a photo spot, but I thought it was a fascinating history and it actually made me want to go here even more. Here you can check pricing and availability at the Raffles Hotel.

Youā€™ll definitely want to snap a shot of you drinking a famous Singapore Sling. But bewareā€”the cocktail runs $20+. If that deters you, still take advantage of the photo opportunities in and around the hotel property. The exterior is lovely.

Instagram-worthy places in Singapore: Raffles Hotel Singapore

Pool at The Quincy Hotel

I found one more awesome pool that also makes for a great photo spot in Singapore. Two of my nights in Singapore were spent at The Quincy Hotel in the Orchard District. The property is in a convenient area near Orchard Road. The Quincy Hotel is a sleek, contemporary boutique hotel run by Far East Hospitality.

The property itself is stylish, the rooms are super nice, but the pool takes the cake. This is another option that is more budget-friendly than Marina Bay Sands. The LED-illuminated infinity pool gives you an instagram-worthy view of the surrounding city.

The Quincy Hotel was actually my first stop in Singapore. After settling in my room, I immediately put my swimsuit on and went to the pool for a 10 a.m. swim. It was raining off and on that morning but the pool here offers overhead coverage so you can still enjoy it despite bad weather. Here you can check pricing and availability at the Quincy Hotel.

Again, going to the pool in the morning means you might end up with it all to yourself. I really liked how the pool is on a corner so there are views on two sides. There are plenty of lounge chairs and side tables lining the pool that can be used to set up a camera and get a shot of yourself swimming.

Gear Used for My Instagrammable Singapore Photos

  • This lightweight, mirrorless camera is my favorite for beginners who want to start dabbling in manual photography. I travelled with this camera for years and loved it!
  • This is the camera body I travel with now , which is full-frame mirrorless camera. This thing is powerful and surpasses all of my needs for both photo and video.
  • This is the lens that is on my camera most of the time and it was the one lens I travelled with in Singapore. It is quite heavy, but produces excellent quality photos.
  • Here is a post about camera gear I use for travel blogging if you want more information and recommendations.

Recommended Tours for Singapore Photos

Here is a recap of the tours I personally recommend throughout this post. While the tours are not focused solely on photography, they offer in-depth experiences and information on some of the Instagram-worthy locations and areas in this post.

  • Kampong Glam Guided Walking Tour: This guided walk explores the Kampong Glam area. You will visit the mosque, learn about the history and culture of this area, explore street art and more.
  • Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay E-ticket: This isnā€™t a guided tour, itā€™s an E-ticket. Plan ahead and get your entry ticket before you arrive to avoid waiting in line.
  • Little India Guided Walking Tour: Singaporeā€™s Little India area is so photogenic, but also full of history. Learn about it all while you snap your photos on this guided tour.
  • Chinatown Food Adventure: This Chinatown food tour is by far one of my favorite things I did in Singapore. Explore Chinatown, get some great photos, and eat the best of Singapore while youā€™re at it. Show up hungry!

I can’t get over how beautiful your photos are! Great work and really inspiring!

Thank you, Stefanie! I appreciate the kind comment.

We missed out on so much when we visited Singapore! This post makes me want to go back. You shared some great spots!

Thank you! I will definitely be visiting again in the future šŸ™‚

Singapore has been on my list for years, but I have not yet managed to get there! I have been reading articles about it, seen many photo stories, but I feel like yours is giving a completely different vibe, it is like nothing I have seen about this city (which is a good thing!). In fact, by seeing most of those pictures I would not have been able to place it as Singapore!

That’s great to hear! Singapore ended up being so much more than I expectedā€”also in a good way!

I love a good Insta worthy shots blog! These photos turned out so amazing, totally saving this when I get over there one day šŸ™‚

Thanks, Andrea! It’s a great photo city.

So many great spots! I hadn’t heard of the Indigo Hotel but it looks amazing. That will be at the top of my list for places to stay next time I am in Singapore.

It definitely should! Hotel Indigo in Singapore is one of my favorite I’ve ever stayed in!

Fantastic post, love that you have a map at the end pinpointing all these great spots. Itā€™s the small details and tips that can really help a fellow traveller enjoy and make the most of their trips

Thank you! I’m glad to hear you found the map to be useful! I will take that feedback and try to apply it to more posts šŸ™‚

OMG! In love with this architecture <3

http://carmelatte.co/dead-sea-masada-tour/

It really is so lovely, isn’t it?!

We were just in Singapore for a few days, it’s such a photogenic place!

All your pictures are absolutely gorgeous and so delighted to the eyes.

23 Best Things to Do in Singapore

By Ashlea Halpern

Singapore Pulau Ubin

It may be the one of the most expensive cities in the world , but Singapore has racked up plenty of other superlatives: cleanest, best planned, and, quite possibly, most entertaining. The Lion City is home to the largest rooftop infinity pool, the world's first safari park for nocturnal animals, centuries-old temples and, of course, some of the best food on the planet. You'll also find extraordinary gardens, impressive architecture, world-class performance venues, and shopping streets. The city-state offers a fascinating melding of the old and new, the historic and the modern. Since the pandemic, most of the attractions have reopened safely, adhering to Singaporeā€™s safe management measures and SG Clean certification guidelines . Read on for our picks of the best things to do in Singapore.Ā

Gardens by the Bay Singapore

Gardens By the Bay Arrow

This is a hugely popular tourist attraction in Singapore, and rightly so. The breadth of plants and the creative ways in which they're displayed is awe-inspiring. In one part of the conservatory, the Cloud Forest mimics the cool-moist ecology of the tropical highlands. It has a treetop walk and an oft-photographed indoor 114-foot waterfall.Ā

National Gallery Singapore Arrow

With more than 9,000 works, National Gallery Singapore owns the largest public collection of modern art in Southeast Asia. It's spread across two beautiful national monuments: City Hall and the countryā€™s former Supreme Court. Some visitors spend half a day (or more) wandering the museumā€™s many galleries. If you're looking to avoid lines, consider going on a weekday and buying your tickets in advance online.

Singapore Kampong Glam Expansion of Haji Lane

Kampong Glam Arrow

Are you a hipster? Or a devout Muslim? Do you like unconventional modern art or traditional Arab crafts? Do you just want that Instagram snap or are you interested in learning more about this historic district, from its red-light leanings to its religious importance? Or maybe you just want a slice of the delicious kaya swiss roll from the famous Rich & Good Cake Shop? If you answered yes to any of these things, this delightfully eclectic enclave is for you. Singapore's Muslim quarter dates back to the 1800s, but the area has grown and changed, blending the religious and historical with a modern take on the city-state.

Jewel at Changi Airport in Singapore

Jewel Changi Airport Arrow

It might seem odd to tell travelers to hang out in an airport, but Jewel Changi is no ordinary airport (it's a fixture at the top of our Readers' Choice Awards best airport list ). The transportation hub is also a nature-themed shopping, dining, and entertainment extravaganza designed by architect Moshe Safdie. The project's highlights include the Rain Vortex, a seven-story-tall indoor waterfall; an indoor forest with suspended walkways; and nearly 300 stores. This is a game-changer for travelers on layovers. It's so popular (and so worth it) that 20 airlines will let you check in a full 24 hours in advance just to maximize your time inside.

The Intan Arrow

The Intan is a private home that houses one of Singaporeā€™s most impressive collections of Peranakan artifacts. Owner Alvin Yapp has spent 30-plus years collecting 1,500 objects from Peranakan culture, most notably kasut manek (ornate beaded slippers worn by Straits Chinese women) and enamel tiffin carriers hand-painted in delicate floral patterns. Yapp's post-war home is a labor of love, and it shows in the meticulous way that he has arranged every square inch of it. Visits are strictly by appointment only.

Singapore Pulau Ubin

Pulau Ubin Arrow

This island was once known for its granite quarries. But when they closed down in the 1970s and jobs dwindled, residents began leaving. Today, the island is home to fewer than 50 people, who have chosen to stay for the old way of life. Which is exactly what people like visiting it for, too. Stepping onto Pulau Ubin is like time-traveling to the way Singapore was decades ago. Even getting to it is old-fashioned: You take a 10-minute ride on a chugging bumboat from Changi Point Ferry Terminal. This is a rich experience even for those who are cash-poor, and the perfect day trip for those looking to see a different time in Singapore's history or experience its wild side.

Merlion at Marina Bay Sands Singapore

Merlion Park Arrow

This promenade overlooking Marina Bay is home to Singapore's iconic 28-foot Merlion statue, a half-fish, half-lion stone carving that shoots water into the bay. The fish symbolizes Singapore's beginnings as a fishing village while the lion head is a nod to Singapura, which means "Lion City" in Malay. Erected in 1972, it remains one of the nation's most popular tourist attractions, so plan accordingly.

Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands Arrow

This one's for ballers: If you have cash to splash, you can do everything from have a meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant to check out the view from the SkyPark. The massive Moshe Safdie-designed mall, casino, convention center, and hotel is perhaps Singapore's most iconic building. A must-visit is the ArtScience Museum, Singapore's most future-forward, and the 57-story-high SkyPark, Singapore's best.

Singapore Haw Par Villa

Haw Par Villa Arrow

Forget manicured or wild, this eight-acre outdoor art park is bizarre but a feast for the eyes. It was set up in the 1930sā€”before the advent of TV and the Internetā€”by Tiger Balm founder and philanthropist Aw Boon Haw, who commissioned more than 1,000 detailed sculptures and dioramas that would teach traditional Chinese values. Back then, it was popular and crowded, but has become less so over the years. And though it's lost a bit of its luster, that only lends to its charm and 'raw' feelā€”what you get here is an unfiltered, in-your-face lesson on Chinese morals and culture that doesn't sit behind velvet ropes or glass panels, and isn't crawling with tourists. Also of note: This "Asian cultural park" claims to be the last of its kind in the world, though it's hard to imagine there were many like this to begin with.Ā

Singapore St Andrews Cathedral

St. Andrew's Cathedral Arrow

You can't miss this giant, wedding-cake-like monument in the middle of Singapore's Civic Districtā€”it's one of the oldest buildings in the area and perhaps the most imposing, with its Neo Gothic design topped with a minimalist spire. Park grounds surround the structure so it stands out as a sanctuary in the midst of a busy urban area. This is Singapore's largest cathedral and also its oldest Anglican house of worship. It's a gem for history, culture, and architecture buffs.

Thian Hock Keng Temple Singapore

Thian Hock Keng Arrow

Thian Hock Keng Temple, a.k.a. Tianfu Temple, is Singaporeā€™s oldest Buddhist temple. The elaborate architecture, done up in the traditional southern Chinese style, was built without using a single nail. Now fully restored, it's a feast for the eyes with its dragon and phoenix sculptures and Fujian-style broken porcelain roof ridges. Photos aren't allowed in most parts of the temple, and you'll likely get caught if you try to snap one. So you'll have to just keep those memories with you. If you can't keep your camera in your purse, don't go. This is not a selfie op. Admission is free, but it still never gets too crowded.

Sentosa Tanjong Beach Singapore

Sentosa Arrow

Sentosa is a 1,236-acre island resort off the southern coast of Singapore that's home to major tourist attractions like Universal Studios Singapore and the S.E.A. Aquarium. Singaporeans and international travelers also flock here to hang out on the beaches, zip line at Mega Adventure Park, shop at the massive Luxury Fashion Galleria, and more. Golf is a big deal here, tooā€”the Sentosa Golf Club has two award-winning courses. In short, the island is a tourism machine, fine-tuned to appeal to a broad range of peopleā€”except those seeking an off-the-beaten-path vacation.

National Parks Board Southern Ridges Singapore

The Southern Ridges Arrow

The Southern Ridges is a 6.2-mile recreational trail that connects five parks along the southern ridge of Singaporeā€”Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill, HortPark, Kent Ridge Park, and Labrador Nature Reserve. Like everything in Singapore, it's well-constructed and manicured. The landscape varies between jungle-like canopies of trees, unusual flora and fauna, and architecturally magnificent walkways. If you aren't up for the full five plus miles make sure you get to Henderson Waves, a timber deck lofted 256 feet in the air. It's the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore and beloved by photographers for its undulating curves.

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Arrow

This sanctuary for flora and faunaā€”an ASEAN Heritage Parkā€”is as wild as it gets in manicured Singapore. The 500 acres of land is made up of mangroves, mudflats, ponds, and forests that are home to a biodiverse ecosystem of mudskippers, crabs, water snakes, monitor lizards, otters, and the odd crocodile. It's also a spot for birders ā€”an internationally recognized site of importance for migratory birds and is part of the East Asian Australasian Shorebird Site Network. But despite how untouched it is, the trails are quite flat and the whole place is fairly easy to navigate.

Singapore East Coast Road

East Coast Road Arrow

There's perhaps no better place to get a taste of Singaporeā€”literally and figurativelyā€”than by strolling through the East Coast Road enclave. Along this lively two mile stretch (one of Singapore's earliest delineated roads), colorful heritage shophouses sit shoulder to shoulder, forming a personality-packed backdrop for photos. Even better: They house some of the island's best eateries , including 328 Katong Laksa for its namesake dish, plus a handful of museums and stores showcasing the Peranakanā€”or Straits Chineseā€”culture that forms a large part of the local identity. The area is also a stone's throw from East Coast Park, where you can have a seaside stroll to counter the calories you'll inevitably consume along the way.

Singapore Botanic Gardens including the National Orchid Garden

Singapore Botanic Gardens Arrow

This UNESCO World Heritage site is carved into three main areas, or "cores." The Tanglin core is the oldest and the one visitors see first as they pass through the historic Tanglin Gate. The Tyersall-Gallop core is integrated into the parkā€™s existing rainforest and the Bukit Timah core is home to a children's garden complete with treehouses, a suspension bridge, and farm. Visit the National Orchid Garden to see more than 1,000 species of orchids and 2,000 hybrids on display.

Singapore Night Safari

Night Safari Arrow

This is the world's first safari park for nocturnal animals and a wildly popular one at that. It's operated by the same group that runs the equally popular Singapore Zoo. The 86-acre reserve houses some 2,500 animals from 130 species, more than a third of which are endangered. Guests ride around the park on complimentary guided trams. The tour itself takes about 40 minutes and covers seven themed geographic areas, but specific animal sightings are never guaranteed. On the weekend and with advance booking, you can observe live tiger feedings. If you have the ability to walk some of the trails, do it. It'll get you away from the tourist scrum and you're more likely to encounter reserved animals.

Singapore Clarke Quay

Clarke Quay Arrow

In the 1800s, this quay, or wharf, near modern-day Fort Canning Park , was one of the centers of trade, when barges would transport goods upstream for storage in the warehouses. Today, the warehouses have been restored and painted in rainbow hues, making this a great photo spot. Instagram-worthiness aside, Clarke Quay has also become one of Singapore's food, drink, and entertainment hubs. The whole area has been converted into an open-air pedestrian precinct filled with restaurants, bars, and clubs.

Esplanade Theaters on the Bay Singapore

Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay Arrow

The premier art venue in Singapore, the Esplanade is home to multiple performance spaces, including a stunning state-of-the-art concert hall, a horseshoe-shaped theater with an orchestra pit, a more intimate recital studio for chamber music and jazz concerts, an outdoor theater, and an open-air concert space. The building is an architectural marvel (it's the face of Singaporeā€™s five-cent coins). The dome's spiky exterior has earned it the nickname ā€œdurianā€ in reference to the sometimes-polarizing Southeast Asian fruit. Anyone who loves architecture should swing by for a photo op.

Old Airport Road Food Singapore Hawker Center Market

Old Airport Road Food Centre Arrow

At more than 40 years old, Old Airport Road Food Centre is one of Singapore's best-loved hawker complexes , with 150 stalls spread across a single floor in neat rows. It can seem daunting, but as a general rule, a long line in front of a stall means excellent food. And while it can be quite a wait, food-obsessed Singaporeans will assure you that it's totally worth it. Dishes that demand your patience here include hokkien mee (fried yellow wheat noodles doused in a seafood stock and studded with prawns and pork) from Nam Sing Hokkien Mee, and silky beancurd pudding from Lao Ban Soya Beancurd.

Mint Museum of Toys Singapore

Mint Museum of Toys Arrow

The main reason people come to MINT is to see the private collection of toys, which includes more than 50,000 items (around 8,000 of which are on display) hailing from 40 countries and dating as far back as the 1840s. Beyond the toys, the permanent collection includes two galleries devoted to vintage enamel signs. The museum is rarely crowded, unless there is a special event going on. The collection itself is impressive, but some of the exhibits are too darkly lit and obscurem making this is a better stop for those with niche knowledge.Ā

Singapore shop Sfir Aromatics perfume aroma

Sifr Aromatics Arrow

This one-of-a-kind, independently owned fragrance shop in Singapore's Kampong Glam neighborhood feels like a secret you want to keep to yourself. Owner Johari Kazura is a third-generation perfumer, but his approach to scents is more novelā€”and infinitely customizable. Several dozen perfumes and colognes are pre-made and part of his regular stable; others are mixed-to-order based on a customer's personal preferences. If you want a custom-blended scent, book a reservation in advance and block out at least 90 minutes for the session. (It's an excellent gift idea, too.)

Singapore Art Museum

Singapore Art Museum Arrow

SAM specializes in contemporary art from Singapore and Southeast Asia. When it opened in 1996 in a restored 19th-century Catholic boys school, it was the first art museum in the country. Itā€™s a must-see for anyone interested in works by contemporary Asian artists. The collection covers multiple disciplines, including painting, photography, video, and sculpture.
