Star trek: lower decks season 4 - cast, story & everything we know.

Star Trek: Lower Decks is coming back for season 4 on Paramount+. Here's everything we know about what's next for the USS Cerritos' Lower Deckers.

After wrapping up another hilariously successful season, here's everything we know about Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4. Executive producer and creator Mike McMahan's animated comedy has proven itself as the most purely fun and unpredictable Star Trek series on Paramount+. After 3 seasons, Lower Decks is now cemented as genuine Star Trek, and the series continues to homage and spoof every corner of the Star Trek universe, including an acclaimed crossover with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Multiple storylines converged and were resolved in Lower Decks season 3. These included mysteries about Ensign Samanthan Rutherford's (Eugene Cordero) implant that paid, and Ensign Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome) meeting an ex-Starfleet Officer-turned-archaeologist who took her in when she was booted off the USS Cerritos. Meanwhile, the California-class fleet was nearly rendered obsolete by the A.I.-driven Texas-class starships, but the Cerritos managed to defeat the new robot Starfleet ships after they went rogue , reaffirming the importance of Lower Decks ' California-class. Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4 is now on the way — here's everything that's known on what's in store for the crew of the Cerritos next.

It’s our most dramatic. It’s our most T’Lyn-filled. I’m just loving it." Season 3 of Lower Decks went out with a bang , so anticipation is high for anything that teases how season 4 follows it up. As of now, there is no trailer for Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4, but since it has a projected release window of 2023, something should pop up relatively soon

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 Release Date

Paramount+ gave Star Trek: Lower Decks an early season 4 renewal in January 2022, a full 8 months before season 3 premiered on the streaming service. With season 4 assured, writing on the next Lower Decks season commenced immediately. By the end of summer 2022, the scripts for Lower Decks season 4 were completed so that production for the next season was underway. Star Trek: Lower Decks traditionally premieres in August or late summer every year, so it's safe to expect Lower Decks season 4 to drop on Paramount+ in late summer or fall 2023.

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 Cast

The entire Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4 will return from season 3, seeing Tawny Newsome return as the incomparable Beckett Mariner. Jack Quaid's ( The Boys ) Brad Boimler is back, as is Noël Wells' D'Vana Tendi. In addition, Eugene Cordero will be reprising his role as Sam Rutherford, alongside Dawnn Lewis' Carol Freeman, Jerry O'Connell's Jack Ransom, and Gillian Vigman's T'Ana. Newcomer T'Lyn, voiced by Gabrielle Ruiz has officially joined the crew, and audiences will get to see more of Peanut Hamper, voiced by Kether Donohue. Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 Story Details

Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4 has a lot of threads that season 3 left behind. Ensign Brad Boimler believes his identical transporter clone, William Boimler, died, and he has no idea his doppelganger joined Section 31. Plus the evil A.I.s Peanut Hamper and AGIMUS have teamed up, and this could factor into the Lower Decks season 3 finale's end-credits scene revealing that Badgey is alive. A new Lower Decker, the Vulcan named T'Lyn, has joined the USS Cerritos as a Science Officer trainee alongside Ensign D'Vana Tendi. And Mariner is back in Starfleet's good graces as the protégé of Commander Jack Ransom.

Star Trek: Lower Decks' Crossover With Strange New Worlds

Another huge event in 2023 is Star Trek: Lower Decks ' upcoming crossover with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds . In a much-anticipated upcoming Strange New Worlds season 2 episode, Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome will come aboard the USS Enterprise and play Boimler and Mariner in live-action. There is also rumored to be an animated component so that Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and his crew could appear as their cartoon selves. It was announced that Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 would launch on September 7, 2023 . This means there really is hardly any time to wait for fans to get their next fix of the lower-deckers.

Another wonderful surprise at the recent San Diego Comic-Con was the release of a trailer for Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 . Alongside a special screening of the Strange New Worlds crossover episode , the trailer, packed full of Easter eggs, was shown and met with great appreciation from the fan base. We have a synopsis for Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4, thanks to the official website , which reads as follows:

"In Season 4 of Star Trek Lower Decks, an unknown force is destroying starships and threatening galactic peace. Luckily, the crew of the USS Cerritos isn’t important enough for stuff like that! Instead, Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, Rutherford, and provisional Ensign T’Lyn are keeping up with their Starfleet duties, avoiding malevolent computers and getting stuck in a couple of caves- all while encountering new and classic aliens along the way."

Already, fans will be delighted with this synopsis as, alongside an exciting new trailer, it suggests that there will be more of the same laugh-a-minute dialogue and wacky storylines from the writers. Given how successful the previous seasons of the show were, it was sensible to maintain the same tone and style for Season 4, but add in a dash of jeopardy in the form of the "unknown force", and a whole new main character, with Gabrielle Ruiz ( Orange is the New Black ) playing the Vulcan T'Lyn.

Luckily for fans, all the previous cast members who voice the now-beloved characters are returning to the sound booth. This includes the likes of Tawny Newsome ( Brockmire ) as Beckett Mariner, Jack Quaid ( Scream ) as Brad Boimler, Noël Wells ( Mr. Roosevelt ) as D’Vana Tendi, Eugene Cordero ( Loki ) as Sam Rutherford, Dawnn Lewis ( Dreamgirls ) as Carol Freeman, Jerry O’Connell ( Stand By Me ) as Jack Ransom, and Fred Tatasciore ( Team America: World Police ) as Shax. Of course, Lower Decks is also now famous for its guest stars and cameo appearances, with the likes of Armin Shimerman ( BioShock ) and James Cromwell ( The Green Mile ) appearing in Season 3. With that in mind, there is certainly hope that some more talented voices may drop by in Season 4, which only adds to the heaps of anticipation that currently surrounds the show. As mentioned, Season 4 will also be adding Gabrielle Ruiz to the main cast as the Vulcan T'Lyn.

The series writing credits of course go to show creator Mike McMahan, who is joined by many fellow writers including the likes of Garrick Bernard ( Single Drunk Female ) and Ben Rodgers ( Emily the Criminal ). Directing credits across the show go to Barry J. Kelly ( The Venture Bros. ) and others, with executive producer credits going to the likes of Aaron Baiers ( Salvation ), Heather Kadin ( Sleepy Hollow ), and Katie Krentz ( Steven Universe ). Of course, with a show of this nature, the appreciation behind the scenes would not be complete without a nod to the infinitely talented animation team, including the likes of art director Nollan Obena ( Ben 10 ) and color designer Angela Victoria Llerena ( Axe Cop ).

Paramount+ has officially announced that there will be a total of 10 episodes in the upcoming fourth season, the same amount as the previous three Seasons. With so much hilarious content to come, fans can hardly contain their excitement.

To the delight of fans, it was officially announced months ahead of Season 4 that a fifth season of the show had been greenlit by Paramount+ . Clearly, and rightly, Paramount has enormous faith in this animated brilliance, and it is the show's dedicated fans that are reaping the rewards.
