Hired an Uber cab, found some Uber cab drivers helpful with our baggage and some Uber cab drivers were not helpful with baggage handling, checked into Fairfield by Marriott Amritsar, comfortable rooms and courteous hotel staff from reception front desk, Jyoti, Sayma, Abhishek helped us with our baggage to our room. Air conditioned and clean room, serviced by Yogesh and Manpreet with timely replenishment of tea, coffee and water bottles. Buffet breakfast at Kava and an awesome spread of delicious varieties from continental to Punjabi chhole-kulcha. Great ambience and service staff, check-out date 19 Aug had a hearty lunch. Thanks to Fairfield by Marriott Amritsar for our comfortable stay in Amritsar. It was completely customized and we did it while foreign tourists are still not allowed into India. We enjoyed some things they delivered, like super fast response to emails or the whatssap group created. We felt things, though, for the price we paid, could have been much better. We had a mixed bag of tour guides. Some of them were really good and some of them were not so good. Same for drivers, some drove carefully, phones muted, etc. and some of them did not. We had also a mixed experience with the hotels. All hotels were good, 5 stars, so that was never the issue. The issue was more the lack of reaction to the feedback provided when we said a certain chain was too vanilla, too bland and we would rather stay in hotels with more character and history. Despite that feedback coming quite early in the trip, no changes were done. Also, we did not appreciate not getting 100% clarity on the total cost we paid for the trip. When we asked, during the trip, for a high level breakdown of the price (flights, hotels, tour guides and drivers and their fee), we were advised this was not possible. In closing, we found India Trotter to be a professional company. They did a good job in organizing our tour. They have some good things like the whatssap group and overall, the tour went well. If you’re planning to visit the town, you should go through the following information that will assist you on how to reach Dharamshala from Mumbai by the different modes of transport available:- Mumbai To Dharamshala By Air : The nearest airport to Dharamshala is Gaggal Airport in Gaggal near Kangra at a distance of around 15 km from Dharamshala. However, there are no direct flights available. The best way to reach Dharamshala via air from Mumbai is to take a flight from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi (2 hr 10 min) and then take another flight from Delhi to Gaggal (1 hr 10 min to 1 hr 40 min). There are a number of flight operators providing daily services from Mumbai to Delhi. Air India and SpiceJet provide with daily flights from Delhi to Gaggal. You can then opt for a bus or a cab which will take around 30 minutes to reach Dharamshala from Gaggal Airport. Alternately, you can take a flight to Chandigarh International Airport from Mumbai (2 hr 25 min) which is about 255 km from Dharamshala for which you have to book a cab or opt for a bus which should take around 5 to 6 hours. Mumbai To Dharamshala By Train : You can opt among a number of trains to Chandigarh or Ambala from Mumbai (24-28 hrs). From Chandigarh Railway Station, Dharamshala is about 253 km for which you can book a cab or opt for a bus which should take around 5 to 6 hours. Mumbai To Dharamshala By Road : The distance between Dharamshala and Mumbai is 1,903 km. You can opt to self drive or hire a cab. It will takes about 31 hours on a road journey via NH48 from Mumbai to reach Dharamshala. Unfortunately, there are no buses available that connect the two cities.

Himalayas Tour By Train with Amritsar [Golden Temple] & Shimla Toy Train Tour [10 Days]

We enjoyed the places we visited on this tour as it covered all the places we were interested in, the only disappointment in the itinerary was the cancellation of the Toy train from Shimla, which we expected to be a highlight of this tour. We particularly liked Amritsar and the guide was very helpful in taking us into the kitchens at the Golden Temple which we may not have done on our own - he was very informative. The Partition Museum was interesting, although half an hour was not enough time and we had to leave half way through the visit. The experience of the flag Ceremony at the border with Pakistan was fun and enjoyable. Dharamshala was lovely but it felt like we were on a mystery tour as we couldn't communicate with the driver about the plan for the day due to him speaking and understanding very little English. As it happened, he took us to all the places we wanted to visit, but it was frustrating not knowing what was happening and timescales. We had the same problem in Shimla. Malkeet our driver was very helpful and reliable and we felt safe in the car with him, even though no seat belts in the back. The hotels were mixed - we liked the Clarks Inn Amritsar very much but the hotel in Dharamshala was totally inadequate. No one else staying there, no drinks available, not even bottled water and even though they provided us with a menu, they did not have most things and it seemed they were not cooking at the hotel but instead going out to get a take away! They did get us one beer for the evening, even though we would have liked more. The only breakfast option was omelette and toast (which was not prepared with food hygiene in mind). The general cleanliness of the hotel. such as bedding and table linen did not make our stay comfortable for the two nights. The room was dark and dingy and had seen better days. The location was isolated so there was no where else we could go to eat or drink in the evening. We would have have liked to been able to go out and choose somewhere to eat. The hotel in Shimla was okay but not a good location for us to have any independence on dining outside the hotel. Overall, apart for the Toy train, everything went to plan and there was someone to meet us at every new destination on the tour. We enjoyed the tour.

I recently had the opportunity to embark on a marvelous tour of Delhi, Agra, Amritsar, and Dharamshala and I must say, it was a truly unforgettable experience. From the bustling streets of Delhi to the serene mountains of Dharamshala, this tour had something for everyone. Our journey began in Delhi, the capital city of India. The rich history and culture of this city was evident in every corner we explored. From the impressive Red Fort to the beautiful Lotus Temple, every monument and landmark left us in awe. The bustling markets and delicious street food added to the vibrant atmosphere of the city. Our visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra was a highlight of the tour. The majestic white marble structure took our breath away and we were left speechless by its beauty. Next on our itinerary was Amritsar, the holy city of the Sikhs. The Golden Temple, the holiest shrine of Sikhism, was a sight to behold. The peaceful atmosphere and the sound of the gurbani (Sikh devotional music) left us feeling spiritually rejuvenated. We also had the opportunity to witness the flag ceremony at the Wagah border, a truly patriotic and emotional experience. The final leg of our tour took us to the picturesque town of Dharamshala, nestled in the Himalayan mountains. The tranquil surroundings and the breathtaking views left us in awe. We visited the residence of the Dalai Lama, and it was a humbling experience to learn about the Tibetan culture and their struggle for freedom. Throughout the tour, our guide was knowledgeable and accommodating, providing us with interesting facts and stories about each destination. The accommodations and transportation were also top-notch, making our journey comfortable and hassle-free. Overall, this tour was a perfect blend of culture, history, and nature. It gave us a glimpse into the diverse and vibrant culture of India. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience the marvels of Delhi, Agra, Amritsar, and Dharamshala. Day 1: Arrival in Amritsar

Upon arrival in Amritsar, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Take some rest and then visit the Golden Temple. Later, explore the Jallianwala Bagh, a historic site of a tragic massacre. In the afternoon, you have free time to chill out. In the evening, around 3 PM, proceed to Wagah Border to witness the Closing Ceremony. The ceremony starts at 5:30 PM and involves a military practice by the security forces of India and Pakistan. It includes a parade, lowering of the flags, and a retreat. After the ceremony, return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Amritsar.

Day 2: Amritsar to Dalhousie - Local Sightseeing (210 Kms, 7 Hours)

After breakfast, leave for Dalhousie. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and proceed for local sightseeing in Dalhousie. Explore the scenic beauty of this hill station. Overnight stay at the hotel in Dalhousie.

Day 3: Dalhousie Local Sightseeing

I did not like the communication gap existing amongst the staff and the customer. My flight to Nagpur was delayed by two and half hours but it was informed to me on email ( not by W.A. or SMS) when I have already left my home in Baner area. I was painfully detained at airport with luggage when the gate no. 10 was changed to 5. I'll never recommend your flight to anybody.

Seats don't recline, no charging points. New aircraft and very clean. Crew should serve some water atleast.

There was inordinate delay without any plausible reason. This has become a normal feature of Indigo now a days.

I have been an NRI living abroad for the last 35 years, but I had one of my worst experiences recently at the Dharbhanga airport, especially with the ground staff. Their behavior was very rude; one of the staff members almost abused me and charged me extra for my laptop and cable that I was carrying from Dharbhanga to Delhi, where I had an international flight. Despite being careful with the weight limits, the ground staff treated me very poorly, making it one of the worst flying experiences of my life.

Staff could have been helpful when traveling with kids and seniors. Not at all professional staff, just some janitors who do not understand hospitality. The food was horrible; the tomatoes tasted foul. The flight was small and the legroom was not good.

Flight was changed without proper monitor display. Boarding process was confusing with no announcements.

Flight arrived on time even though boarding and takeoff were delayed. No infant seatbelt provided. Crew was a bit indifferent. Baggage was damaged and representatives refused to write up a damage report.

IGI T-1 terminal is under renovation. So, the boarding and check in process took extremely long, due to reduced number of kiosks. Further, the flight was delayed by 1 hour 15 mins. The same was not being properly informed to the passengers because of which a feeling of slight chaos was evident amongst the passengers. All this further increased the discomfort, which was already in the menu due to the ATR aircraft. Lastly, the Spicescreen website wasn't working properly due to pathetic interface and poor wifi connectivity, which otherwise could have been a pass-time during the flight. Such issues were not expected from Spicejet and need to be taken care and handled in a better manner in future.
