Char Dham Yatra: Online registration begins on Uttarakhand Tourism portal

The pilgrimage starts from Yamunotri, proceeds towards Gangotri, onto Kedarnath, and finally ends at Badrinath. Read further on Dynamite News:

Shri Badrinath Dham

Dehradun: The online registration for the 'Char Dham Yatra' started on Monday on the tourism department's portal, according to the Uttarakhand tourism department.

The pilgrims can register themselves on the official website from April 15 to visit the revered shrines.

The Char-Dham yatra in Uttarakhand consists of visiting four temples, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

This year, Char Dham Yatra will begin on May 10, with the opening of three of the four shrines, including Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath. The doors of Badrinath shrine will open on May 12.

The Char Dham Yatra holds profound spiritual significance in Hinduism. This journey typically occurs from April/May to October/November.

The high-altitude shrines remain shut for around six months every year, opening in the summer (April or May) and closing with the onset of winter (October or November).

It is believed that one should complete the Char Dham Yatra in a clockwise direction. Hence, the pilgrimage starts from Yamunotri, proceeds towards Gangotri, onto Kedarnath, and finally ends at Badrinath. (with Agency inputs)

On the right bank of River Alaknanda opposite the last Indian border village Mana is a small temple of Mata Murti dedicated to the mother of Shri Badarinathji. Once a year, on the day of Vaman Dwadashi, the Narayan pays a visit to Mata Murti. The Rawal (the head priest) of Badarinathji performs puja here and the residents of Mana village organize a festival of prayers, havan and bhog. BHAVISHYA BADARI TEMPLE AT SUBHAIN

uttarakhand tourism registration online

The temple of Bhavishya Badari is at an altitude of 2744 m. and is surrounded by dense forests. Located at Subhain near Tapovan about 17 km east of Joshimath on Joshimath - Lata Malari route, pilgrims have to trek beyond Tapovan. Tapovan has sulphurous hot springs. The idol of Lord Badari is emerging here by itself. It is believed that when Kaliyug will be on its pinacle the mountains Jai and Vijay at Patmila near Vishnuprayag will collapse, so making the present shrine of Badarinath inaccessible and Lord Badarinath will be worshipped here. Thus the name Bhavishya Badari, which literally means the Badari of the future. Bhavishya Badari is popular even now, enshrined here is a lion headed image of Narsiarsimh.

ANI Photo | Uttarakhand: Online registrations for ‘Char Dham Yatra’ begin on tourism portal

The online registration for the ‘Char Dham Yatra’ started on Monday on the tourism department’s portal, according to the Uttarakhand tourism department. Last week, Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana visited the Badrinath Dham and inspected the preparations for the Chardham Yatra. The District Magistrate instructed the officials that before the start of the Yatra, works related to sewer line repair, improvement of internal routes, water, electricity, street lights and vehicle parking should be completed and signage should be installed for passenger convenience. The journey can be completed by road or by air (helicopter services are available). Some devotees even do a ‘Do Dham Yatra’ or a pilgrimage to two shrines, Kedarnath and Badrinath

Char Dham Yatra 2024: Registration full for May; important dates announced

U ttarakhand, famously known as Devbhoomi or the Land of the Gods, attracts devotees year-round with its numerous temples and religious sites. Among the most prominent pilgrimages is the Char Dham Yatra, which encompasses visits to four sacred destinations: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.

The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand for 2024 is scheduled to begin on May 10. Devotees eager to embark on this spiritual journey have been actively registering online. However, as of now, registrations are already full until May, with a staggering 16 lakh devotees having secured their spots for the pilgrimage.

To ensure a smooth and orderly experience for pilgrims, the Uttarakhand Tourism Department has set daily registration limits. For the Kedarnath Yatra, the limit is 18,000 devotees per day, while for Badrinath, it is 20,000. Similarly, the daily limits are 11,000 for Gangotri and 9,000 for Yamunotri Dham.

With registrations for May fully booked and the demand for Heli Sewa (helicopter services) soaring, devotees are now looking to secure spots for June. The Heli Sewa initiative, under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, has witnessed overwhelming popularity, evident from the record-breaking bookings.

Notably, bookings for Heli Sewa to Kedarnath are already full for both May and June. Additionally, a significant percentage of ticket bookings for September and October have been finalised, highlighting the enthusiasm among devotees.

Amidst the rush for registrations, the Uttarakhand Char Dham Teerth Purohit Mahapanchayat has called for a relaxation in registration procedures for local residents. They have also urged authorities to initiate offline registration centres in Rishikesh and Haridwar to accommodate those without access to online facilities.

As preparations continue for the Char Dham Yatra, authorities are working diligently to ensure a safe, memorable, and spiritually fulfilling experience for all pilgrims. With the sacred journey set to begin soon, devotees eagerly await the opportunity to embark on this revered pilgrimage in the picturesque landscapes of Uttarakhand.
