Cruise line all-inclusive packages: Everything you need to know
Editor's Note
Luxury lines aren't the only ones offering all-inclusive cruise packages these days. Mainstream and upscale cruise lines, which traditionally have offered a basic fare and then charged passengers a la carte for onboard expenses, have begun to offer more inclusive fare add-ons. Cruisers are buzzing about these new options, which allow them to pay upfront for popular amenities and not feel nickel-and-dimed on board.
This new pricing strategy, which goes beyond popular drinks packages , has large-ship cruise lines such as Celebrity, Holland America and Princess jockeying to compete with luxury lines and their all-inclusive fares. Small-ship cruise lines Azamara and Windstar have also hopped on the trend.
These packages are designed to make the cruise experience hassle-free by allowing passengers to pay for most of their onboard expenses — such as beverages, Wi-Fi and gratuities — before they board. However, they might not always be the best option for every cruiser.

Here's a look at which cruise lines offer all-inclusive packages, what's included, how much they cost and the factors that can make them a great deal or a potential waste of money.
Celebrity Cruises' All Included package
The package
Celebrity Cruises — known for having a grown-up, bar-centric ambience on board its ships — offers an All Included cruise fare on any itinerary (excluding the Galapagos Islands). With this fare type, passengers get two included amenities: basic Wi-Fi and Celebrity's Classic beverage package.
The package used to include crew tips, but Celebrity removed that benefit in 2023.
What's the cost of the All Included package? That depends on the destination, itinerary length and time of year. Celebrity Cruises would not provide an average, but in all the fares we priced out, passengers could expect to pay $70 per person, per day, above the base cruise fare. However, it's possible the difference in pricing can be higher on certain cruises.
When browsing for cruises on Celebrity's website, the prices you will see are the Cruise Only fares (except when noted, mostly on Retreat and AquaClass categories). During the booking process (right after cabin selection), you can choose either the higher All Included fare or the lower-priced Cruise Only fare.
Tip: If you'd like to book a balcony cabin at the All Included price, always price out AquaClass and Concierge cabins, as well. Those room types, which offer extra amenities, sometimes cost just a few dollars more (or even less) at the cruise-only fare than a veranda cabin with the add-on package.
All passengers on the reservation must select the same fare. One person can't book All Included and the other Cruise Only. Families sailing in the same cabin must all book the same fare type, although underage passengers will only have access to nonalcoholic beverages.

The two amenities that come with an All Included booking are typically priced as follows:
- Classic beverage package: $89 per person, per day, plus a 20% bar gratuity on every drink ordered
- Basic Wi-Fi: $20 per person, per day
The Classic beverage package only includes drinks priced up to $10. Note that the All Included fare covers the bar gratuity normally charged to guests who purchase a beverage package independently.
Celebrity's Basic Wi-Fi plan is its value-priced option, which offers access to basic web functions: texting on messenger services, web browsing and email.
Let's crunch the numbers. Bought a la carte, Celebrity's Classic beverage package and basic Wi-Fi will cost $109 per person, per day; you will be on the hook for a 20% automatic bar gratuity on each drink ordered.
At $70 extra per person, per day, Celebrity's All Included fares are a good value for cruisers who plan to toss back multiple basic cocktails daily — there's no daily limit — and are content with basic Wi-Fi.
Passengers who book All Included fares can also opt to upgrade to the Premium beverage package (for drinks costing up to $17) for an additional $20 per person per day. This must be done within the Cruise Planner platform after final payment is made and up to two days prior to sailing.
Alternatively, they can pay the overage ($2 on a $12 glass of wine or cocktail, for instance) plus a 20% gratuity on the overage.
That puts the total cost of the All Included package at roughly $90 per person, per day, with the upgraded drinks package. Celebrity's Premium beverage package is regularly priced at $109 per person per day, plus there's an automatic 20% gratuity added to the package price (bringing the total daily cost to $130.80).
That means passengers already considering the Premium Beverage Package will definitely save by purchasing the All Included package.
Celebrity cruisers can also upgrade their package to Premium Wi-Fi — which allows messaging and video chat on messenger services, web browsing, email, social media posting, video chat live and watching videos and movies. The upgrade costs an additional $10 per person per day.
The difference between the All Included package cost with basic or premium Wi-Fi is the same as if you purchased a Wi-Fi plan a la carte.
Holland America's Have It All
Passengers booking a cruise on any Holland America ship now have the option to get four premium amenities included with the Have It All package . The line's premium package makes a HAL cruise semi-inclusive when passengers upgrade their base fare.
Here's what's included:
- The Signature beverage package, which includes wines, beers, spirits, cocktails and nonalcoholic options (such as sodas and specialty coffees) that cost $11 and under, as well as bar gratuities. There's a daily limit of 15 beverages per person.
- Specialty dining, with one dinner at either Pinnacle Grill, Canaletto or Tamarind included on a six- to nine-night cruise; two dinners on a 12- to 20-night cruise; and three dinners on a cruise of 21 days or longer (excluding Grand Voyages).
- Wi-Fi Surf package for web surfing, social media and email on one device.
- Shore excursions credit of $100 per person on a six- to nine-night cruise, $200 on a 12- to 20-night cruise and $300 on a cruise that's 21 days or longer (excluding Grand Voyages).

Right now, the Have It All package costs $50 per person, per day (reduced from $99 per day as of April 21, 2023). This price reduction is a temporary promotion, and an end date is not specified. When it does change, other perks may be added to the promotion.
Two passengers sharing a cabin must both select Have It All at the time of booking. Unlike most cruise all-inclusive packages, however, HAL's Have It All doesn't include crew gratuities. These will be added to passengers' onboard accounts at $16 per person, per day for guests in cabins and $17.50 per day for guests in suites.
Here is what all the elements of the Have It All package would cost if purchased separately for a seven-night cruise:
- Shore excursion credit: $100 per person, per cruise
- Specialty dining: $25-$40, based on restaurant selected
- Wi-Fi: $105 (at $15 per day)
- Signature beverage package: $384.65 (at $54.95 per person, per day)
Right now, the Have It All package costs $350 per person for a seven-night cruise, which is actually less than the $384.65 Holland America charges for its Signature beverage package for a cruise of this length. Plus, passengers get an extra $230 to $245 in shore excursion, specialty dining and Wi-Fi perks. So, at the $50 per person, per day rate, the Have It All Package is a terrific value, even for moderate drinkers.
However, when the price reverts to $99 per person, per day, or $693 per person for a seven-night cruise, the Signature beverage package ($384.65) and shore excursion, specialty dining and Wi-Fi perks ($245) only add up to $629.65. That's $63.95 less than Have It All pricing. Although, with Have It All, service charges of 18% per beverage (or $1.98 per $11 beverage) are included.
So, if you drink around 33 beverages costing $11 on a seven-night cruise (or about five a day) you can break even. And remember, you'll still need to pay daily crew gratuities.
According to Holland America, other/additional perks may become available with the Have It All package when the price changes.
Princess Plus and Princess Premier
Princess Cruises continues to modify the amenities included in its Princess Plus package , which the cruise line says offers at least a 50% savings over a la carte costs (based on a seven-night cruise). Passengers can also book the Princess Premier package for additional included perks said to offer more than 65% savings.
Princess Plus is priced at $60 per person, per day. What's included?
- Plus Beverage Package, which includes drinks up to $15 (with a 15-drink alcoholic beverage limit per day)
- Wi-Fi for one device per guest ($15 per day if booked separately)
- Crew appreciation, aka gratuities ($16 per person per day for stateroom guests or $18 per person per day for suite guests)
- Two "premium desserts" per day (purchased at the Gelateria, Swirls or Coffee and Cones)
- Two fitness classes per cruise
- Unlimited juice bar drinks
- Two "casual dining" meals per guest, per cruise (at casual sit-down restaurants, like Alfredo's and Kai Sushi, and pop-up venues, like Planks and Steamers)
- Room service delivery at no extra charge
- OceanNow delivery (ordering food and items on your app to wherever you are on board) at no extra charge
Princess Premier costs $80 per person, per day. It features the following perks:
- Premier beverage package, which includes drinks up to $20 (with a 15-drink alcoholic beverage limit per day)
- Wi-Fi for up to four devices per guest
- Crew appreciation
- Two specialty dining meals per guest
- Photo package (unlimited digital plus three prints up to 8 inches by 10 inches in size)
- Unlimited "premium desserts" (at Gelateria, Swirls or Coffee and Cones)
- Unlimited fitness classes
- Wearable Medallion accessory
- Reserved theater seating for production shows
- Unlimited casual dining
- OceanNow delivery at no extra charge
- Princess Prizes (a chance to win extras like a wine tasting, Chef's Table experience, onboard credit or even a free cruise)
For either plan, each beverage package also includes bar gratuities (18% per beverage when ordered without the Plus or Premier packages). Passengers under 21 will automatically receive the Zero Alcohol package, which includes fountain sodas, juice bar, fresh juices, bottled water, specialty coffees and teas, frappes, milkshakes and Red Bull energy drinks.
Both packages are capacity-controlled and, if sold out, may not be available for all cabin categories at the time of booking; if available, they can also be purchased on the first day of a cruise.
The first and second guests in a cabin must each book the same Plus or Premier package, but the third and fourth guests are not obligated to do so, meaning a family doesn't have to pay for amenities that kids won't use.
Wi-Fi, specialty dining and the photo package are shareable, so a family of four with two parents on the Princess Premier plan can have their children's devices on Wi-Fi, take home great family photos and enjoy one specialty dining experience with the entire family.
It might take a while to add up the cost of all the amenities, but you don't have to. For couples, the Princess Plus package is a no-brainer.
Wi-Fi and crew appreciation (totaling $31-$33 per person, per day) alone account for more than 50% of the $60 per person, per day (or $420 per person for a seven-night cruise) package charge. With less than $30 per day left to break even and with drinks up to $15 included, you don't have to overindulge to get your money's worth. Those premium desserts, casual meals, fitness classes and unlimited juice bar beverages are the icing on the cake.
For $80 per person, per day, or $540 per person for a seven-night cruise, Princess Premier offers additional savings — mostly if you already planned on purchasing a beverage package and think you'll use at least some of the other perks.
Related: Are cruise line drinks packages worth the price? What to know before you buy
The Premier Beverage Package costs $84.99 per person, per day, which is more than the price of the Princess Premier all-inclusive package. If you prefer premium wines and spirits and were planning on purchasing the upgraded drinks package, Princess Premier will more than pay for itself.
The two specialty dining meals are valued at $74 per person, per cruise, or more; this also gets you close to breaking even if you weren't going to purchase a beverage package. Wi-Fi for up to four devices normally costs $40 per day or $280 per seven-night cruise. Combine the two, and you're already ahead. Unlimited desserts, casual dining, fitness classes and juice bar drinks only add to your value.
The bottom line: At $80 per day, Princess Premier can be a good value — especially in comparison to other cruise-line all-inclusive packages costing the same or even more.
Azamara's Experience More
While Azamara 's basic cruise fares already include crew gratuities and standard spirits, beers and select wines (a choice of two whites, two reds and a rose daily), the cruise line's Experience More packages bundle additional onboard amenities at savings of 27% to 32%.
There are four options priced per couple/cabin and one designed for solo travelers. All are available on cruises of eight days or longer, with the exception of one package specific to shorter sailings (seven days or fewer).
The least expensive option for two people sharing a cabin is the Experience More Essentials package. It includes a Premium Beverage Package for two (with additional beer and spirits selections), unlimited Wi-Fi for one device and a $300 shore excursion credit. It's priced at $699 per cabin.
The Experience More on Short Cruises package is the only one available on sailings of seven days or fewer. It includes the Ultimate Beverage Package for two, unlimited Wi-Fi for one device, a $200 shore excursion credit, a $100 onboard spa credit, Chef's Table (a multicourse tasting menu) or Three Table Tour (one night at Aqualina, one night at Prime C and one night at your choice of restaurant) and one bag of laundry per voyage. It's priced at $799 for two people in the same cabin.

The Experience More Enjoyment package includes the Premium Beverage Package for two, unlimited Wi-Fi for two devices, a $500 shore excursion credit and a $200 onboard spa credit. It's priced at $1,099 for two people.
The most comprehensive option for two people is the Experience More Indulgence package. It includes the Ultimate Beverage Package for two, unlimited Wi-Fi for two devices, $700 shore excursion credit, $250 onboard spa credit, Chef's Table or Three Table Tour, and five bags of laundry during the voyage. It's priced at $1,599 for two people.
Singles can get in on the savings, too, with the Experience More for Solo Travelers package. It features the Ultimate Beverage Package for one, unlimited Wi-Fi for one device, a $350 shore excursions credit, a $150 onboard spa credit, Chef's Table or Three Table Tour, and three bags of laundry during the voyage. It's priced at $899 per person.
What's the difference between the Premium and Ultimate beverage packages in these offers? The Premium package includes a larger selection of beer than the included list, plus name-brand spirits such as Absolut, Captain Morgan and Bombay Sapphire. The Ultimate package includes all the Premium offerings plus a selection of wine and Champagne by the glass, Evian and Perrier water and more top-shelf spirits.
If bought separately, the Premium package costs $16.95 per person, per day, and the Ultimate package costs $23.95 per person, per day.
Azamara has done the math for passengers:
- Experience More Essentials: priced at $699, valued at $958.50
- Experience More on Short Cruises: priced at $799, valued at $1,103
- Experience More Enjoyment: priced at $1,099, valued at $1,637
- Experience More Indulgence: priced at $1,599, valued at $2,357
- Experience More for Solo Travelers: priced at $899, valued at $1,224
If you already plan on booking shore excursions and specialty dining reservations, enjoying wine and spirits beyond those included in the cruise fare, using Wi-Fi and paying for amenities such as specialty dining or spa treatments, the all-inclusive upgrades offer good value.
However, if you don't plan to take advantage of all the extra-fee services on board, you'll need to do the math around the amenities you would use to determine whether a package is right for you.
Windstar Cruises' All-Inclusive Fare and All-In Package
Windstar Cruises offers an All-Inclusive Fare option for a set daily fee. For Windstar, all-inclusive means unlimited beverages, unlimited Wi-Fi and all gratuities. Passengers can also still opt to book a base cruise-only fare and pay for onboard expenses on an a la carte basis.
Passengers who choose the All-Inclusive Fare prepay $89 per person, per day; the package must be booked within five days of the sail date. Those who book a cruise-only fare can also purchase the All-In Package for $99 per person, per day once they are on board.
Both the inclusive fares and onboard package cover unlimited Wi-Fi, crew gratuities and wine, beer and cocktails ordered on board (as well as the 18% beverage service charge usually tacked onto bar bills).
We took a look at the a la carte items included in the inclusive package to determine the value of Windstar's offering (based on a weeklong sailing).
- Crew gratuities: $16 per person, per day
- Beverage package: $65 (for Captain's Exclusive Beverage Package, which includes cocktails, aperitifs and more). These also incur an 18% service charge.
- Unlimited Wi-Fi: $245 for a seven-night cruise ($35 per person, per day)
Wi-Fi and tips account for $51 of the $89 daily charge before factoring in bar charges. That leaves $38 for beverages. So, the value is there with the All-Inclusive Fare if you plan to enjoy at least three or four alcoholic beverages daily throughout your cruise — and you'll avoid the added service charges.
However, guests who only indulge in the occasional glass of wine or cocktail will not see the full value of the package. Similarly, passengers who prefer to buy one of Windstar's cheaper, more limited usage Wi-Fi plans (200 megabytes or 500 megabytes of data) or intend to share the cost of the Unlimited Wi-Fi plan by logging in one device at a time, might find the $89 or $99 daily charge is not worth it.
Bottom line
Should you upgrade to one of these packages? While convenience is certainly a motivating factor, whether a plan has value depends in most cases on what you think your bar tab will be.
If vacation mode means you'll be tossing back tropical cocktails at the pool all day or enjoying multiple glasses of wine at both lunch and dinner, booking an all-inclusive package is a smart option. If you're not a big drinker or enthusiastic social media user, the better deal is sometimes to stick with the basic fare and pay as you go for what you use.

How can i find a cheap cruise.
Cheap cruise deals are fairly easy to find in most cases, and you can begin by considering what kind of features and itinerary you want. The more simplistic the experience is, the cheaper it is in general. On Expedia.com, you can filter for specific features and sort your results by price. By mixing and matching certain features, unforgettable experiences may be available with discount cruises. For example, booking a cruise with stunning restaurants and live performances while opting for an inside cabin without an ocean view window or balcony could be ideal for a traveler who doesn't plan on spending much time in their cabin anyways

The Best All-Inclusive Cruises in 2023: Luxe Voyages to Italy, Japan, Iceland, and South America

Imagine indulging nonstop in champagne, caviar, and lobster every day aboard a cruise—and not needing to pay one cent extra. All-inclusive cruises make fantasies like these reality by bundling many luxurious amenities into the voyage fare. And savvy cruisers know that the perk-laden, all-inclusive itineraries make for the most lavish, stress free vacations.
Plus, there’s no need to worry about getting your money’s worth, as most luxury lines offer benefits for every type of traveler, from personal butlers, 24-hour room service, and complimentary spa treatments, to top-shelf liquor, business-class airfare, and fee-free shore excursions. Add enticing destinations like Japan, Iceland, and Northern Africa to the mix, and the fact that it all happens aboard some of the most stylish and boutique ships at sea, and you can see why all-inclusive itineraries are some of the most popular in the cruise industry.
Read on for everything you need to know about all-inclusive cruises, from booking tips to some of our favorite itineraries.
Is there such a thing as an all-inclusive cruise?
All-inclusive cruises definitely exist, primarily on luxury cruise lines and some upper-premium lines. Award-winning luxury lines Regent Seven Seas, Seabourn, and Silversea , all with multiple ships, offer the most inclusions in cruise fares. Upper-premium cruise lines, particularly award-winning Viking, bundle more amenities into cruise prices than other non-luxury lines.
What’s in an all-inclusive cruise?
All-inclusive cruising is a rather tricky term, as each cruise line offering them puts their own spin on the definition. Luxury cruising delivers the most inclusive voyages, typically bundling dining, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, Wi-Fi, 24-hour room service, port and tax fees, and gratuities into fares.
Some cruise lines bundle in even more enviable perks, such as airfare, either economy, chartered, or business class, airport-to-ship transfers, laundry service, most or all specialty dining, and most or all shore excursions. Sometimes, all-inclusive cruises have special offers to include a pre-cruise hotel night, or pre- or post-cruise land programs, including tours and hotel stays.
With the best, most all-inclusive cruises , the only extra charges typically appearing on a final bill are spa and salon treatments, private fitness training, premium alcohol, and purchases in boutiques or cigar lounges.
How much is an all-inclusive cruise?
All-inclusive cruises usually run between $500 to $1,500 per person per day. Multiple factors influence the pricing range: The line’s inclusion level, the competitiveness or exclusivity of the itinerary, and the itinerary date. It's less expensive to cruise during shoulder season, when the weather may be chillier or rainier, say May in Alaska or April on the Mediterranean , versus high season, when the weather is at its best. Price is also influenced if a ship is repositioning (an itinerary transiting from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, for example), which also decreases costs. Consider expedition cruises the priciest as their costs are higher; they sail with multiple expedition experts and much excursion and scientific equipment, plus most or all shore excursions are included. Antarctic luxury sails requiring chartered flights to fly over the Drake Passage are the priciest, and can run up to $3000 per person per day.
What is the best cruise line to go with?
The best all-inclusive cruise lines for 2022 and beyond, in alphabetical order, are Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Scenic, Seabourn, Silversea, and Viking. All showcase stunning ships with all suites (other than Viking) and inviting public venues, and deliver impeccable service and excellent cuisine.
To assist in deciding which line would be your personal best, look hard at the itinerary and inclusions. For instance, if searching for an Alaskan cruise, know that shore excursions are vital to an in-depth experience. Look for a cruise line including most or all, as those additional costs rapidly add up. Regent Seven Seas and Silversea include most or all shore excursions, as do Scenic and Seabourn expedition ships.
If you primarily prefer exploring individually, like on a New England fall foliage or Caribbean cruise , you might care more about complimentary specialty dining in-suite and about the ship, and sipping free custom martinis poolside or in buzzy bars. Then select a Seabourn ocean liner, where shore excursions are not factored into pricing.
Are you a caviar devotee? Look to Seabourn and Silversea for offering free premium caviar, anytime, anywhere, beautifully presented with all the accouterments. If you’re a die-hard foodie idolizing superstar chef Thomas Keller of Napa’s French Laundry fame, choose Seabourn to feast on his dishes at Keller’s only at-sea restaurant and also on Keller-influenced plates in other dining venues.
5 best all-inclusive cruise itineraries to book in 2023 and beyond
Regent Seven Seas is known for its opulent ships.
Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro with Regent Seven Seas
Experience South America's lively cities and pristine beaches with this 10-night voyage aboard Regent's elegant Seven Seas Voyager that departs from Buenos Aires in March 2023. Among the itinerary highlights are stops in Ilha Grande, Brazil—famous for its beaches and tropical rainforests—and Búzios, which Regent likens to a Brazilian version of St. Tropez, as well as overnights in Monte Video, Uruguay , and Rio de Janeiro.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises hits the gold standard in all-inclusive luxury cruising . Their ships are gorgeous—opulent, even—with multi-million dollar art collections, and dripping in elaborate hand-fashioned crystal chandeliers. Cruise fares include international business class airfare or economy on domestic flights, airport-ship transfers, all-suite accommodations, all dining including specialty restaurants, unlimited beverages including fine wines and spirits, valet laundry service, unlimited Wi-Fi, gratuities, and most shore excursions. In fact, you can take unlimited complimentary shore excursions in each port. In addition, RSSC offers a one-night complimentary pre-cruise hotel for passengers booked in concierge suites and higher. Special offers include free pre and post-land programs on select voyages.
Cultural wonders of Japan with Scenic
Scenic currently offers one “adventure yacht,” Scenic Eclipse , with near-twin Scenic Eclipse II debuting in 2023. The sleek and glamorous expedition vessel feels most yacht-like among our best all-inclusive cruise list.
In June 2023, the Scenic Eclipse will voyage throughout Japan , visiting a total of eight cities in the country. Ports of call include Hakodate on the island of Hokkaido—where travelers can hike to the summit of active volcano Mt. Esan for spectacular views or visit the Hakodate Morning Market—as well as stops in Aomori, home to the world's largest virgin beech tree forest, and Hagi, known for its preserved castle town from the Edo era.
Among inclusions, count on all-suite accommodations with verandas or terraces, butler service for every passenger, up to 10 complimentary dining experiences, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (including a stunningly sexy 100-bottle whisky bar), in-suite minibar stocked with passenger favorites, Wi-Fi, internal country flights, airport-to-ship transfers, all gratuities—even for shore excursions. The spa features many complimentary offerings, such as thermal loungers and meditation classes. As an expedition ship, exploration “toys,” such as Zodiacs, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards, are complimentary. The only extra exploration fees are for submarine and helicopter rides.
A terrace onboard Viking, an upper-premium line.
Venice, the Adriatic, and Greece with Viking
Spend eight days cruising the Adriatic and Ionian seas aboard this Viking sailing, which visits four countries across six ports of call. After departing from Venice , one of Viking's ocean ships (several operate this itinerary) will visit Split and Dubrovnik in Croatia; Kotor, Montenegro; as well as Corfu and Katakolon in Greece, before docking in Athens.
As the sole upper-premium line on this list, Viking includes many luxury-line-level perks in the cruise fare. On ocean and expedition cruises, passengers receive one complimentary shore excursion in each port, 24-hour room service, Wi-Fi, specialty dining, soft drinks, beer and wine with lunch and dinner, specialty coffee drinks and tea. If purchasing airfare through Viking, ship transfers are also complimentary.
Viking’s complimentary spa access is a huge perk, as the Thermal Suite, which includes a steam, sauna, real snow grotto, whirlpool, cold-water splash and plunge pool, is a spa devotee’s dream-come-true. Also, staterooms are more upscale than on competitive premium lines. They feature king, not queen, beds, and oversized bathrooms with anti-fog mirrors, glass-enclosed showers, and heated bathroom floors.
Silversea's Arctic and Anarctic expedition sailings are part of its all-inclusive cruise offerings.
Iceland, Faroe Islands, Scotland with Silversea
Sailing roundtrip from Reykjavík on board Silversea's newest addition to its fleet, Silver Endeavor , this two-week-long cruise checks off a whopping 19 ports across three countries, including Iceland, Scotland, and the Faroe Islands. Being a more boutique expedition ship, Silver Endeavor is able to ferry passengers to small ports, including Iceland's outer islands, like Vigor Island, home to the Isafjardardjup Fjord and migratory Atlantic puffin colonies.
Silversea delivers a chic Italian-inspired vibe, evoking a luxurious custom-designed Milano home. The line offers two styles of all-inclusive luxury cruising , “Port-to-Port” and “Door-to-Door.” Port-to-Port includes all-suite accommodations, shore excursions, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, butler service for all suites, Wi-Fi, gratuities and meals in most dining venues. Dining includes 24-hour room service served course-by-course. Complimentary premium caviar is available anywhere, anytime. Under the Port-to-Port category for Silversea’s expedition ships, passengers also receive in-country economy airfare, pre or post-cruise hotel day use or overnight and some expedition gear.
All Door-to-Door cruises add a few extras to all the above inclusions. International economy airfare (or air credit) and airport-to-ship transfers, and roundtrip transfers between home and airport by private car service are among them.
Seabourn is known for luxe all-inclusive cruise dining perks, like unlimited caviar.
Northwest Africa with Seabourn
Although this sailing departs in 2024, we included it in our list for 2023, as it's sure to sell out quickly. In March 2024, Seabourn will take its expedition ship, Seabourn Venture, to the Northwest coast of Africa for a unique two-week cruise ending in Spain. Departing from Cape Verde, the sailing includes stops in Banjul, Gambia; Dakar, Senegal ; Casablanca and Tangier in Morocco; and Malaga, Spain, among others.
Seabourn Venture includes all-suite accommodations and all other Seabourn complimentary amenities other than The Grill. Most shore excursions are complimentary. A second expedition ship, Seabourn Pursuit, will debut in 2023 with similar all-inclusive features.
A luxury line with an elegant casual country club ambiance, Seabourn offers numerous high-end inclusions, such as all-suite accommodations, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, Wi-Fi, specialty dining, 24-hour in-suite dining (served course-by-course, if desired), high-end caviar service anywhere, anytime, and gratuities. On Seabourn’s ocean liners, passengers also receive one complimentary dinner at The Grill by Thomas Keller, a restaurant deftly duplicating the world-famous chef’s cuisine, prepared with his favorite high-end ingredients. In addition, many Keller-influenced plates appear on other dining venue menus, such as in the Colonnade. Seabourn features a Mindful Living Program in collaboration with Dr. Andrew Weil, and passengers can take complimentary classes with practitioners trained by the esteemed doctor in meditation and yoga, among the options.

What’s Included in a Cruise?
Every cruise includes accommodation, meals, entertainment, and on-board activities. Drinks such as water, squash, tea, and coffee are also included free of charge. Other drinks can either be purchased individually using your cruise card, or you can pre-book a drinks package offering unlimited drinks.

Why Choose All-inclusive Cruises?
Booking an all-inclusive cruise gives you the peace of mind that everything is included in your holiday and that it’s all been paid for in advance. You won’t have any surprise bills at the end of your cruise and, unless you want to get souvenirs from the on-board shops or hit the casino, you might not need any holiday spending money whatsoever!
Cruises with Free Drinks Packages
Many people search for all-inclusive cruises with alcohol included. However, what you might not know, is that ANY cruise can be made all-inclusive by adding on a drinks package. The cost of a drinks package varies depending on the cruise line and length of sailing.
From time to time, cruise lines have promotions which offer free drinks. These offers may only be available for certain stateroom types, such as balcony cabins, or you may be able to pay a set fee to upgrade to all-inclusive, such as in the Norwegian Cruise Line Free at Sea promotion.
Sometimes cruise lines have a price for a cruise-only deal and another price for an all-inclusive deal. If you give us a call, we can always give you a price with and without drinks included so that you can choose the one which works best for your budget.
All-Inclusive Fly Cruises
All-inclusive cruise packages including alcohol and flights are very popular, and for an even more convenient experience, we can also package up anything else you might need such as a pre-cruise hotel stay or airport transfers. The Best All-Inclusive Cruises
Getty Images
Sit back and relax on an all-inclusive cruise vacation.
When it comes to all-inclusive cruises, there are a few different options:
- Luxury cruise lines: All-inclusive cruise rates are available on luxury lines like Regent Seven Seas and Silversea. While more expensive than traditional cruise rates , the fares cover nearly everything, including door-to-door transfers, luxurious suite accommodations, specialty dining , premium alcoholic beverages and excursions. Plus, you don't need to show your cruise card every time you order a latte or a pre-dinner cocktail. You'll disembark the ship with very few, if any, additional charges on your final bill.
- Cruise lines with inclusive pricing: Alternatively, you can consider an upscale cruise line like Viking, which offers fares with more-inclusive pricing and some of the amenities found on board the fully inclusive lines. However, you'll still have to budget for a few expenses, such as immersive excursions and alcoholic beverages beyond wine or beer at lunch and dinner.
- Packages and add-ons: Other cruise lines like Oceania, Windstar and Norwegian offer add-on drink packages and other promos so you can create a more all-inclusive experience.
After comparing the costs between a truly all-inclusive cruise and a sailing with package pricing for the extras, the total price may be closer than you think.

All-Inclusive Cruises
Regent seven seas cruises.

Regent Seven Seas touts its six ships – with the newest vessel, Seven Seas Grandeur , which debuted in late 2023 – as "the world's most luxurious fleet." The line's intimate ships accommodate up to 750 guests. They feature all ocean-view suites, prestigious museum-quality art collections (including a prized Fabergé egg on the new Grandeur), and itineraries that call on more than 500 destinations around the world.
With Regent's "every luxury included" philosophy and 2-for-1 all-inclusive fares, passengers receive round-trip airfare and transfers between the airport and ship, as well as unlimited shore excursions, two- or three-night land programs (based on the itinerary), and a complimentary pre-cruise hotel package for concierge suites and higher. On the ship, enjoy a fully stocked in-suite minibar; specialty dining; unlimited fine wines, spirits and other beverages; prepaid gratuities; unlimited Wi-Fi; and free valet laundry service.

You'll be able to access the best deal on the added perks if you book the upgraded package before you sail, saving up to 40 to 50 percent of the actual cost.
The line's "All-Included" package bundles the most popular add-ons for cruisers: a standard beverage package for alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, unlimited basic Wi-Fi, and gratuities for the staff and crew. Pricing depends on the stateroom or suite category and sailing.
There are other options when booking a cruise with Celebrity to create a more upscale and all-inclusive experience. Guests staying in all-suite The Retreat have exclusive access to a sundeck (on select ships), a lounge and Luminae – a private restaurant that features Global Culinary Ambassador Daniel Boulud at the helm. Guests of The Retreat booking the "All-Included" package receive a premium beverage package, premium unlimited Wi-Fi, gratuities and an onboard credit.
If you book AquaClass accommodations, you'll also have access to complimentary amenities and perks, such as unlimited access to the SEA Thermal Suite, discounts on spa treatment packages and complimentary fitness classes. In addition, you'll also find a bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival (by request) and two bottles of water refreshed daily in your room. AquaClass guests also have exclusive access to the restaurant Blu. You can add the "All-Included" package to your booking, which will include the Classic Drinks Package, basic Wi-Fi and gratuities.

The 12 Best All-Inclusive Cruises for 2024
When it comes to all-inclusive cruises, there are a few different options:

This value-add bundle includes $350 of onboard credit to use for shore excursions; unlimited Wi-Fi for one device; a drinks package featuring premium wines, spirits and bottled water; a $150 spa credit; and a dinner at the Chef's Table or a total of three nights of specialty dining at Prime C or Aqualina. Three bags of laundry are also included.
Guests can book similar packages for double occupancy staterooms and longer voyages. You can also choose individual beverage, dining or internet packages if you don't need the extra amenities or features of the bundled options.

Virgin Voyages
Virgin Voyages' four superyacht-inspired ships are designed with adults in mind and feature 1,330 cabins (most with balconies) and 78 RockStar Quarters suites, where guests have access to Richard's Rooftop, an exclusive outdoor deck space. Pricing with the adults-only cruise line includes stateroom or suite accommodations and meals at more than 20 eateries serving up international cuisine and dishes created by Michelin-starred chefs. Guests also have access to complimentary Wi-Fi; unlimited group exercise classes; nonalcoholic drinks such as water, tea and coffee; and plenty of lively entertainment.
Virgin does not offer beverage packages, but the line at times advertises special promotions that include voyage credits to cover expenses like airfare and drinks. Shore excursions and spa treatments – including skin care offerings on board Scarlet Lady in partnership with Jennifer Lopez, Virgin's chief entertainment and lifestyle officer – are some of the additional expenses not covered in the base fare.

Add-on Packages and All-Inclusive Fares
These five cruise lines offer basic cruise fares that cover accommodations and some amenities – and you can typically find special pricing and promotional deals throughout the year.
With the optional packages, guests can create a mostly all-inclusive voyage with bundles of add-on extras, such as shore excursions, beverage packages, specialty dining, Wi-Fi, gratuities or shipboard credit to cover miscellaneous personal expenses such as spa treatments or a bottle of wine for a special celebration.
Oceania Cruises
Oceania's eight small luxury ships carry between 648 and 1,238 guests. The line's newest ship – Vista , the first Allura Class vessel – debuted in Rome in May 2023. The beautifully appointed vessel features four new dining concepts, spacious standard staterooms at 290-plus square feet in size, new Concierge Level veranda accommodations for solo cruisers, an elevated mixology program and more.
Oceania's culinary program is touted by the line as "The Finest Cuisine at Sea" under the tutelage of Jacques Pépin, executive culinary director and master chef. Complimentary specialty dining is included in cruise fares on Oceania sailings. Pricing also covers airfare, still and sparkling water, specialty teas and coffees, soft drinks, and Wi-Fi on the ship.
Oceania's "OLife Choice" package provides additional value to your cruise with 2-for-1 cruise fares, free round-trip airfare and airport transfers – plus one free amenity you'll choose out of eight complimentary shore excursions, a beverage package or up to $800 in shipboard credit.

Celebrity Cruises
Celebrity offers special rates and packages throughout the year that save money over a la carte pricing – and elevate your onboard experience to be more inclusive.
Passengers who want to book this "All-Included" package and are sharing a stateroom or suite will need to book the same package.

Norwegian Cruise Line
Norwegian also offers promotional fares and special deals throughout the year that feature similar amenities and perks to what you'll find on an all-inclusive cruise. The "Free at Sea" deal bundles discounts on the cruise, free specialty dining, unlimited open bar privileges, shore excursion credits, savings on Wi-Fi access, discounts on the third and fourth guests in the stateroom, and a 2-for-1 deal on airfare.
"Free at Sea Plus" takes the package up a notch with a more comprehensive beverage selection, including top-shelf cocktails, Champagne by the glass, bottles of select premium wines at dinner and signature Starbucks coffee drinks. This option also includes unlimited Wi-Fi, additional nights of specialty dining and shore excursions.
Prices for both packages on Norwegian Cruise Line will depend on the dates, length and destination of the cruise.

Elizabeth Rhodes/Travel + Leisure
For the first time, we’re spotlighting new cruise ships on Travel + Leisure ’s It List, as these exceptional vessels become more and more like floating resorts — celebrity chefs, crystal chandeliers, and Rolex boutiques included.
Explora Journeys’ Explora I
Paul Brady/Travel + Leisure
It’s not every day a new cruise line arrives. The debut of the remarkable Explora I was a moment years in the making for Explora Journeys , the upstart luxury operator that aims to bring a European sensibility to the world of vacations at sea. So far, the project is a smashing success, thanks to the ship’s low-key vibe, standout food and beverage, and intriguing itineraries that visit in-demand ports in Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean. My own August 2023 trip on Explora I , from Copenhagen to Hamburg, Germany, included fulfilling visits to places such as Oslo and the town of Stavanger, Norway, a gateway to adventurous hiking with a postcard-perfect Old Town. The ship itself was also a destination, with its abundance of outdoor space — including an alfresco fitness center — and pools at seemingly every turn. The 461 suites, all of them with balconies, are filled with luxurious touches such as Frette linens and robes, heated marble floors, and Dyson hair dryers. But Explora I truly shines when it comes to food: During the week I was aboard, it was impossible to find a bad meal — and I was often astonished at the quality of, in particular, the pasta served in the Emporium Marketplace and the sushi on offer at Sakura, two of the nine restaurants aboard. The most ambitious of them all is Anthology, a rotating-chef concept that has seen a residency from seafood whiz Mario Ulaissi, known for his Michelin three-starred restaurant on Italy's Adriatic coast, and that recently welcomed Emma Bengtsson, from Aquavit , in New York City. Much has been made of Explora I ’s Rolex boutique — the first on any cruise ship — but for my money, the other shops on board were more interesting: The company has tapped family-owned businesses around the world to create capsule collections of resort wear, handbags, fragrances, sunglasses, and beautiful gifts that can’t be found elsewhere. From $2,050 per person for a six-day sailing. Accessible ship. — Paul Brady
Oceania Cruises’ Vista
Nick Tortajada/Courtesy of Oceania Cruises
The new Oceania Vista is in a class of its own; no really, it’s the first in Oceania Cruises ’ new Allura class. Of its 11 bars and restaurants, three are entirely new to the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings–owned brand — including a high-end cocktail spot called Founders’ Bar, serving 26 intricate drinks that use house-made syrups and top-shelf booze like Whistle Pig and parsley-infused Grey Goose. As Oceania levels up, the cruise line has produced a ship that feels more like a floating resort than the vessels that came before. There’s pickleball; a health-conscious restaurant, Aquamar, serving made-to-order salads and pressed juices; and a coffee shop that looks like one in walking distance of my home in L.A. (marble counters, gold accents, leather bar stools) and pulls an espresso shot of similar quality. Vista has more suites than others in the Oceania fleet, too: There are 14 Oceania Suites (up to 1,200 square feet); eight Vista Suites (up to 1,850 square feet); and three Owner’s Suites with Ralph Lauren Home decor and two massive terraces (2,400 square feet). But the most hotel-like touch? A celebrity chef–driven restaurant, Toscana, where Giada De Laurentiis — the ship’s godmother — supplied two recipes for the menu. As someone who watched a lot of Everyday Italian in the early aughts, I was particularly excited to try her signature, Capri-inspired lemon spaghetti, and lemon-cream sauce with grilled shrimp and capers didn’t disappoint. From $2,499 per person for a seven-night sailing. Accessible ship. — Maya Kachroo-Levine
Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Grandeur
Courtesy of Regent Seven Seas Cruises
Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ sixth ship, the Seven Seas Grandeur , sailed its inaugural season in December, joining sibling ships Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Splendor as the newest member of the luxury fleet. The cruise line is a favorite among T+L readers for its gorgeous ships and all-inclusive pricing that covers unlimited shore excursions, dining at specialty restaurants, and even round-trip airfare. Grandeur lives up to its name thanks to stunning, art-filled spaces designed by cruise ship interior experts Studio Dado: signature restaurant Compass Rose is enchanting with interiors inspired by a fairy-tale forest; the Observation Lounge sparkles with an undulating chandelier and swanky bar; and the $11,000-per-night Regent Suite has a private en suite spa and custom Treesse mini pool. As I boarded Grandeur for the ship’s inaugural sailing, I was mesmerized by the grand staircase and glittering chandelier. And with a maximum capacity of 744 guests, I found it easy to take time to myself in the myriad of quiet spots tucked throughout the ship, whether in the Serene Spa and Wellness area, in the Library, or on the Sports Deck overlooking the ocean. Seven restaurants include specialty steakhouse Prime 7, pan-Asian restaurant Pacific Rim, and breakfast and lunch buffet La Veranda, which refines the cruise buffet experience with daily specials like paella and sushi. Several bars and lounges, a pool and hot tubs, a casino, Broadway-style productions, and cooking classes at the Culinary Arts Kitchen make the ship a destination in itself, though guests will want to take advantage of those included excursions on Caribbean, Central American, North American, and European itineraries, ranging from seven to 16 nights, during the ship’s 2024 season. From $4,669 per person for a seven-night sailing. Accessible ship. — Elizabeth Rhodes
Silversea’s Silver Nova
Courtesy of Silversea Cruises
Carrying 728 passengers, Silver Nova is big for the luxury sector, but boasts a hugely important metric: a capacious passenger space ratio — that is, the number of guests relative to the size of the ship. Simply put, this ship offers more elbow room per passenger than almost any other cruise vessel. Silver Nova is wrapped in glass, with an asymmetrical layout; the funnel is positioned off-center, so is the pool, offering an expansive, uncluttered pool deck. Many features of the brand-new ship recall previous Silversea successes, my favorite of which is the S.A.L.T. (Sea And Land Taste) program, expanded for Silver Nova . S.A.L.T. perks include a gorgeous, sea-facing lab for hands-on culinary lessons (at no additional cost), plus a new concept, the Chef’s Table, where an 11-course menu is prepared for just 24 diners. All facets of the S.A.L.T. ecosystem, including ingredients, a bar, lectures, and shore excursions, are keyed to the region Nova is sailing. While food is a drawing card for Silver Nova , accommodations also received a revamp. Tied to the theme of bringing the outside in, there are brilliant new suites found in the aft starboard corner of the ship, with wraparound balconies revealing a 270-degree view. This is where you can tuck me in when I win the lottery and head off on a world cruise. But until then, Silver Nova will summer in Alaska and spend northern hemisphere winters in Australia and New Zealand, places where top-deck views should prove ceaselessly rewarding. From $3,250 per person for a seven-night sailing. Accessible ship. — David Swanson

As a travel writer and editor for over a decade, I learned a thing or two about planning domestic and foreign trips…but I didn’t come around to the delight of the practically-planning-free allure of the all-inclusive resort until later in my experience excursion-ing. This appreciation was hard-won—I discovered how much more stressful it is to plan a trip budgeting my own money rather than company funds; you would too, if an a-la-carte resort charged an exorbitant amount for room service oatmeal and pot of coffee. Here are my suggestions for the top affordable all-inclusive resorts I’d travel to in 2024, ranging from beachy escapes in the Caribbean and Mexico to a couple surprising escapes right here in the U.S.
20 of the Best All-Inclusive Resorts in the U.S.
What Are the Advantages to All-Inclusive Resorts?
If you stay at an all-inclusive, you’re (mostly) safe from sticker shock when you’re presented with your final bill. Since the food, resort activities, Wi-Fi, parking and all the other little extras are bundled into the nightly rate, you are free to just roam the grounds booking your dinners, borrowing your water sports equipment and parking your kids in the kids’ club when you want that much-deserved me (or us) time.
However, buyer beware: While the term “all-inclusive” sounds definitive, the precise meaning can change depending on where in the world you’re booking your stay. For example, in coastal Mexican and tropical Caribbean resorts, the label usually means the price of the nightly room includes meals, activities and—this adds up, vacationers—unlimited alcoholic drinks. (So, for instance, imagine you’re on a cruise , except the ship analog would be the boundaries of your Cancun resort.) By contrast, in popular destinations including Hawaii, Las Vegas and continental U.S. resorts, room charges usually only cover the overnight room stay itself, with possibly a breakfast included. In these cases, sometimes domestic resorts will bundle room nights together and add themed perks—say, a show at the resort’s casino and dinner or a set of activities suitable for children—for a special price.
How I Chose the Top Affordable All-Inclusive Resorts
I searched for resorts with high-ranking user reviews costing below $350 per night, including meals and activities. Resort rates can swing wildly—from the premium on high season bookings during spring and summer school holidays, as well as during winter to the relative bargain shoulder season booking opportunities between Thanksgiving and New Year. So for comparison’s sake, I quoted prices for the May-June booking season. When resort rates diverge from the all-meals, all-activities model, I note it in the text. Now then, on to your stress-free moveable feasts of sun, fun and vacation affordability.

The 7 Best Cruise Lines for Families, Vetted by a Frequent Cruiser
Senior Editor
7 of the best all-inclusive experiences to book this year, from a travel planner
- As a travel planner, my clients seem to be increasingly interested in all-inclusive trips .
- Some of my favorite luxury resorts are in Costa Rica, the Maldives, and Isla Mujeres.
- Cruises, group tours, and adults-only lodgings can also come with all-inclusive options.
As a travel planner at Marvelous Mouse Travels , I know vacations are expensive — especially if you're looking to go somewhere this summer . But all-inclusive travel is often a great way to get the most value out of a luxury experience.
I've been on several all-inclusive vacations with my family, friends, and work, and I've helped other people book them in destinations around the world .
Here are some of the best all-inclusive experiences I'm recommending to my clients this year.
Try a split-stay vacation to see the best of Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is one of the most sought-after vacations , and for good reason. It's great for both relaxation and adventure.
I recommend booking a split stay, starting at an all-inclusive resort in Guanacaste near the beach for some fun in the sun and moving to a resort near the famous Arenal Volcano for a jungle adventure.
Some of my favorite resorts in Costa Rica are the Westin Reserva Conchal and the Dreams Las Mareas. And if you're looking for an even more unique experience, check out the glorious swim-out suites with private pools at Dreams.
Baglioni Maldives is one of my favorite all-inclusive resorts.
The Maldives, a remote set of islands in the Indian Ocean, offers a plethora of resort options for couples and families, but Baglioni Maldives is my favorite.
For many in the US, getting to the islands can be daunting — there are very few direct commercial flights, and it can take almost an entire day. But it's hard to beat the country's luxury accommodations and gorgeous landscape.
The Maldives also has some of the most beautiful marine life and coveted spots for snorkeling and scuba diving.
No matter where you go, overwater bungalows are the ultimate all-inclusive splurge.
Overwater bungalows — villas standing on poles over open ocean water — are prevalent at all-inclusive resorts in destinations like the Maldives, Fiji, and Bali.
But I've also come across the luxurious accommodations at select adults-only Sandals Resorts throughout the Caribbean.
I think having a private villa on the water is the perfect way to unwind and relax.
Adults-only vacations are on the rise.
Traveling with kids can be a blast, but I also think it's important for adults to take a much-needed break on their own.
Adults-only resorts have been a total respite for me and my husband after hectic months of juggling work with our kids' school and sports schedules.
If you're looking to unwind with a partner, relax on a girls' trip, or even connect with your adult children, there are countless adults-only, all-inclusive resorts to choose from, depending on where you're looking to visit.
Some properties, including Sandals and Beaches Resorts, also offer butler service. Designated staff members can help with anything from room requests and dining reservations to cabana rentals and transportation coordination.
I upgraded to the service at my favorite adults-only spot, Le Blanc Los Cabos, and I felt totally pampered.
Isla Mujeres is pure luxury.
Isla Mujeres, a small island off the coast of Cancún, is known for its crystal-clear, turquoise water and peaceful vibe. It's also home to Playa Norte, one of the best beaches in Mexico .
Impressions Isla Mujeres by Secrets is a gorgeous all-inclusive resort on the island. It offers luxury at its finest, but with only 125 rooms, it has a boutique feel.
One of my favorite features of the resort is the waterslide that leads right into the beautiful ocean.
There are plenty of all-inclusive packages at sea.
Cruising is one of the most popular vacations , whether it's an epic adventure on a Royal Caribbean Cruise, a couples-only journey on Virgin Voyages, or a regal tour of Europe on Viking River Cruises.
Although cruises aren't traditionally considered all-inclusive, with the right booking, they can have the same feel as a luxury resort.
Most cruise bookings include food, nonalcoholic drinks, and live entertainment. If you add beverage packages and excursions in advance, your trip should be fully paid for before you depart.
Book a small-group or private tour if you're looking for adventure.
Group travel is a great way to explore new places while soaking up culture and history.
Popular destinations include Italy, Japan, Costa Rica, and Alaska, and many travel companies take care of everything for you, essentially making it all-inclusive.
I like Adventures by Disney , which offers small-group travel all over the world facilitated by seasoned guides. All the trip details are taken care of, including experiences, food, lodging, and transportation.
Additionally, Kensington Tours offers luxury private travel where every facet of the trip is meticulously planned for you.

OF ICE AND MOUNTAINS
Adventuring in Alaska is all about getting to know this state's stunning landscape. It might seem cold and unforgiving at first glance, but the best Alaska cruises allow you to explore the quiet lakes, imposing glaciers and breathtaking mountain views, you'll have only warm impressions of this wilderness.
JOURNEY INWARD
Exploring the interior of Alaska will give you an entirely different perspective on this vast and rugged state. Take an Inside Passage cruise and gaze upward at the sky that is as blue as the lakes below. Hop on the Alaskan Railroad near Anchorage and see the spruce-lined, mountainous landscape whir by from a new perspective.
GLACIERS WILL MOVE YOU
In Alaska, ancient rivers of ice wind between mountains and grind out of valleys. Towering walls of ice like the Hubbard Glacier, Endicott Arm Dawes and the twin Sawyer Glaciers thunder as they calve massive icebergs . Some shore excursions allow up close interaction with these natural wonders.
JOURNEY TO "THE GREAT ONE"
In the center of the state, Denali National Park is blanketed in wildflowers punctuated with mountains, raging rivers and serene lakes. Denali, "The Great One," formerly known as Mt. McKinley, rises to the tallest peak in North America and can be seen from as far away as Anchorage on a clear day. An up-close view is more than worth the expedition during your vacation.
FEEL THE RUSH
Alaska is tailor-made for once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Whether you sail its icy bays trying to spot huge cold-water whales or fly high above this rough-and-tumble landscape from the vantage of a helicopter, you're sure to come away with memories you couldn't have made anywhere else during your cruise to Alaska.
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?
In some parts of the state, dog sledding is still the primary mode of transportation through the winter months. Visit Alaska and get the experience for yourself at the Skagway Yukon Discovery and Dog Sled Tour . The Siberian Huskies are sweet and energetic, and the ride is a thrill.
WHERE ARE THE WHALES AT?
Head to Kenai Fjords National Park in Seward for a whale watching tour . There's nothing like seeing these behemoths hurl themselves out of the water, to splash back into the sea. Don't pass up an opportunity to watch these giants feed and play in the water.
Planes are plentiful in Alaska, where they're a common form of transportation across the state. Charter a helicopter or fixed-wing flightseeing tour at Juneau and get an unforgettable perspective of the mountains and glaciers of this vast landscape.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO Alaska Cruises Insider
The sheer size of Alaska lends itself to a wide variety of terrain and travel experiences. This diversity means you need to be prepared for a lot of change while traveling.
The best time to travel to Alaska depends on your priorities. If you're interested in the Midnight Sun, the longest day of the year is June 21, when you can experience close to 20 or more hours of sunlight in some parts of the state. If you're more interested in the Alaska Northern Lights, the earlier sunset in later summer will allow more contrast and better views of this natural wonder.
No two days will be the same, and you'll need to pack your clothing to prepare for temperature changes throughout the day. Think layers: zip-up sweaters, boots, rain jackets.

The Best Alaska Cruises
Your Guide to the Best Cruises From Alaska. Learn more about the most stunning destinations you can visit on an Alaska cruise from Seattle or Vancouver.
Alaska is not a formal place; people even wear jeans to the opera. Focus more on comfort when deciding what clothing to pack.
Cameras, binoculars, rain ponchos and jackets are useful, but add these to the souvenirs you'll be picking up and soon your bag will be too heavy to tote around. Bring along a quality day pack to make it easier to hold your necessities.
Learn a few words in Alaska's local lingo: The "Alcan" is the Alaska-Canada Highway, for example, and "fish stories" are the local version of tall tales — unreliable yarns of mythological proportions, often told by fisherman.
ALASKAN CUISINE WILD IS THE WAY
Alaskan food focuses on locally sourced ingredients that reflect the state's rugged terrain and the vast oceans surrounding it. These nutrient-rich waters serve up some gorgeous fish and shellfish, from super-fresh salmon to huge Alaskan King Crabs that can feed a crowd, while game meats and berries from the wilderness form a perfect marriage of flavor.
SALMON IS CENTRAL
Fresh-caught wild salmon is served up at backyard BBQs and the finest restaurants. For something different, try the sweet and savory treat Indian Candy, salmon that is sweetened and smoked till hard.
SOURDOUGH WON'T LET YOU GO
Sourdough is such an important part of Alaskan culture that long-time Alaskans are actually called sourdoughs in local parlance. Try a sourdough bread bowl filled with salmon chowder for a hearty lunch.
GO WILD FOR BERRIES
Alaskan wild berries are sweet and pack a powerful punch of flavor. Whether served up in jams, candies, pies or cobblers, Alaskan blueberries, high-bush cranberries and other local wild berries are a staple when it comes to Alaskan summer eats.
RELATED PORTS
Whether you're interested in hiking through a forest, trekking to glaciers or a shopping spree downtown, the towns along Alaska's inside passage provide a variety of adventurous activities. Alaska cruise ports such as Juneau and Ketchikan are small cities with their own personalities. Anchorage is the state's largest city and a gateway to the rest of the state. Denali National Park takes you out of the city altogether, into a wilderness full of spruce forests and snow-capped mountain peaks.
