The Ultimate Austin Bachelorette Party Guide

austin texas bachelorette trip

In This Article

If you’re looking for an epic bachelorette party that’s filled with hot new restaurants, exciting nightlife, and outdoor fun, then Austin is your place to be. It’s one of Texas’ most popular girls’ weekend getaways for a reason.  To ensure you throw the most epic bachelorette in Austin, we turned to Alison Lamell who gave us all of the insider recommendations.

Meet the Expert

Alison Lamell is the tourism and marketing specialist for Visit Austin .

Austin has a perfect mix of live music, rooftop lounges, trendy restaurants, and shopping. There’s something to do for every type of bride-to-be whether she likes a "chill" party or wants to get active.

"We recommend groups come in the spring before the weather gets too hot and the beloved Hill Country is in full bloom with fields of bluebonnets—the perfect photo opportunity! The Hill Country is just 30 minutes outside Austin and makes for the perfect day trip," reveals Lamell.

The average cost of a bachelorette party in Austin is $1,259, according to a study . "We imagine this number has gone up a bit in the last three years, but it truly depends on the length of stay, how many guests, and individual interests," says Lamell.

Ready to book Austin for the bachelorette party destination of your dreams? Read on for where to stay, what to do, and where to eat, plus a three-day itinerary curated by Visit Austin.

The current outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been declared a pandemic by the  World Health Organization . As the situation remains fluid, we’ll be sharing tips and stories from industry experts to give you of-the-moment advice and help you navigate wedding planning today. For the most up-to-date guidelines and latest on travel restrictions and requirements, check the  CDC  and U.S. Department of State websites.

Where to Stay in Austin

"We recommend a boutique hotel off South Congress Avenue, known for its walkability, chic boutiques, and quirky storefront windows. It's a must-visit whether you decide to stay on the strip or not," shares Lamell. Top boutique hotels in Austin include the East Austin Hotel , Heywood Hotel , Hotel Ella (with a cabana-lined pool), or Kimber Modern .

Of course, you can’t go wrong with a downtown hotel within walking distance to thriving nightlife, world-class cuisine, and live music at every corner. Lamell tells us that, "for a bachelorette crew we recommend staying near Rainey Street, a popular strip of bungalow bars, or West Sixth Street, a higher-end hang-out spot with dancing, live music, and drinks galore."

What to Do in Austin

What many people might not realize about Austin is that it's a creative hub with hundreds of street art murals found throughout downtown. There are also selected murals that the city brings to life with new augmented reality filters in the mural project called " Vibrant City ." This is the perfect photo opportunity for bachelorette groups to snap one-of-a-kind photos.

For groups who want to experience Austin’s infamous music scene, but don't quite know where to start, you can take a Live Music Crawl with Austin Detours . The tour guide is a local musician who personally builds the lineup so guests experience a combination of blues, jazz, country, and rock.

Of course, no bachelorette party in Austin is complete without renting a boat to Devils Cove (otherwise known as Party Cove) out on Lake Travis. Another option is to rent a retro boat out on Lake Austin where the beautiful Austin skyline serves as the backdrop, or rent stand-up paddle boards at Rowing Dock to take in the breathtaking views.

Austin Bachelorette Party Itinerary

  • Morning: Settle into your hotel and go for a stroll around the neighborhood. Grab brunch at Foreign & Domestic featuring popovers plus frittatas, crispy pork and grits, and lots of sweets.
  • Afternoon: Kick off your weekend with happy hour drinks. Catch up with the girls over glasses of wine and fresh Italian small plates at Red Ash Italia , nosh on chips, guacamole, and Mexican beers at the bright and airy Grizzelda's , or enjoy the chic farmhouse-style setting at Lenoir 's wine garden.
  • Evening: For dinner, dress to impress and head over to Eberly , a trendsetting contemporary American restaurant boasting a gorgeous vintage design that evokes a sophisticated library-meets-solarium vibe. After filling up on farm-to-fork appetizers, artisanal meats, and fresh seafood, head upstairs to the rooftop bar for drinks under the stars, or enjoy a classic cocktail at the iconic Cedar Tavern bar.
  • Morning: Start your day with a healthy breakfast at Picnik , where you can fuel up with gluten-free breakfast dishes, bone broth, and grass-fed butter coffee. Then get active with a yoga class at Wanderlust Yoga , or try a yoga-and-hike session at Barton Springs with Sanctuary Yoga . Want to get on the water instead of a yoga mat? Rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard at Congress Avenue Kayaks or Zilker Park Boat Rentals to explore the glittering waters of Lady Bird Lake, all while getting a body-toning workout.
  • Afternoon: Head over to South Congress Avenue to experience Austin’s signature "weirdness." Order lunch at one of the many unique eateries lining the street, such as the retro-modern South Congress Café , vintage-inspired Little Barrel and Brown, or contemporary (and eco-minded) Hopdoddy Burger Bar . Then stroll the eclectic shops where you can unearth vintage finds, score authentic Western wear and browse funky jewelry by indie designers.
  • Evening: When you’re ready to rest after all that shopping, unwind with frozen cocktails and tapas on the three-story rooftop bar at 77 Degrees Rooftop , or grab gourmet street tacos and frozen margaritas at Velvet Taco .
  • Morning: Go for a decadent brunch (we're talking bread pudding French toast, a smokehouse hash, and pretzels with provolone fondue) at Culinary Dropout . Then indulge in some much-needed pampering with a full-body massage or facial for the whole crew at Away Austin Spa or Massage Sway .
  • Afternoon: Make the most of your last afternoon in Austin with a leisurely stroll through the city’s inspiring art museums, such as the Blanton Museum of Art or The Contemporary Austin at the Jones Center. Or, explore the colorful galleries showcasing local artwork, such as Art on 5th and Austin Art Garage , and bring back a unique piece to remember your trip.
  • Evening: Once the sun goes down, take your pick from exciting nightlife options. Looking for upscale entertainment or headlining acts? Attend a show at ACL Live at The Moody Theater or Ballet Austin . Wishing for a chic cocktail lounge with beautiful décor? Try cabana-style patio lounge Kitty Cohen's or secret speakeasy Midnight Cowboy (if you can find it!). Another option is to enjoy a low-key honky-tonk with incredible live music at Broken Spoke .

The Basics \\ Getting Around & What To Know About Austin

Getting from the Airport to Your Stay:

While there is a shuttle bus that exists for $1.25 from the airport into Austin, I will warn you it’s an HOUR TRIP at minimum. It’s a pain in the butt, and that’s coming from an Austinite. I almost ALWAYS recommend taking an Uber or a Lyft instead!

Should I Rent a Car or Uber?

You can totally get away with either option. I will warn you that while if you’re staying Central you’re fine without a car, places like Mount Bonnell or Lake Travis are going to be a lot cheaper if you have a car rented instead!

Should We Get a Hotel Room or Rent an AirBnb?

Don’t you love my “it depends” answers! If you plan on going out and enjoying local restaurants / don’t want to rent a car then opt for a hotel downtown. They have the added perk of those rooftop pools. Also most have an airport shuttle to save you some extra cash there too! But if you are looking for a more low-key chill stay or have a larger group, an Airbnb is likely the way to go. You can find some GORGEOUS AirBnb options up in the Hill Country or near the wineries if you’re looking for that route!

Where to Stay in Austin

If you want a Winery Weekend…Hill Country If you’re looking for a winery type weekend, look for places to stay in Fredericksburg, Dripping Springs, or Driftwood! I’ve got whole posts on things to do in Fredericksburg and Dripping Springs / Driftwood to help you out, and some of my favorite hotels at both!

If You Want to be On the Lake…Lake Austin Weekends with lake days should be spent FAR WEST from Tarrytown. If you’re near Downtown then you actually won’t be able to enjoy the lake on a boat due to regulations. I would say the coolest houses are between Highway 360 and Lake Travis / on Lake Travis!

Austin Downtown Map - Where To Stay in Austin

If You Want to be in the Action… I would stay in the following areas mapped above! Focus on Downtown, East Side of Austin (below Manor), South Lamar, South Congress, or Tarrytown for the most convenient destinations!

My one tip is that I DO NOT recommend staying at the Domain. You might think it’s so cool and has everything, but you’re SO FAR from the actual action of Austin. You’ll end up dropping way too much money on Ubers getting around, and you’re going to regret your decision

Best breweries in austin | central district brewing

Bachelorette Party Ideas in Austin

Spend the Afternoon Visiting Austin Breweries and Wineries Austin is home to some AMAZING local craft breweries & wineries! They have tons of different beer options and wine options and are almost always paired with a gorgeous patio. You can view my complete Austin Breweries & Beer Gardens Guide here!

And my favorite wine bars in Austin are here on this list !

Take a Workout Class or a Yoga Class If you guys want to do a fun group workout together, there are TONS of options! You can see if Outdoor Voices is hosting a free weekend workout (they usually have a bunch), take a barre or brawl class with Barre Code Austin (my personal favorite), or hit up a yoga class with Wanderlust or some of the other great yoga studios in town.

Take a Fun Pole Dancing Class Like the workout idea, but want to bachelorette party it up? Then take a pole dancing class with Brass Ovaries in Austin ! Learn the art of the pole dance and practice those moves. Guaranteed embarrassment, but also guaranteed to have a blast and get an ab workout along with it.

dripping springs wineries

Take a Day Trip to Dripping Springs or Fredericksburg The Texas hill country is home to some BEAUTIFUL wineries, basically a second, cheaper Napa. You can view my guide to Dripping Springs here and my Fredericksburg guide . Dripping Springs is closer to Austin (30 minutes) vs Fredericksburg (1.5 hours) so it’s the best option if you’re staying in the city!

Get Creative With Your Friends at Upstairs Circus Okay so if you’re on board with the idea of doing a fun creative activity, then you should also check out Upstairs Circus in Downtown Austin ! They have group art sessions and you guys can actually PICK what you want to make and each make something different. I did this as an outing for work last year and had a blast!

Relax and Have a Spa Day Together If you are looking to stay relaxed before the wedding insanity begins, then book a spa day together instead! I would recommend checking out Viva Day Spa or Lake Austin Spa as some of the best all-around spa packages in town.

Pedal Bike Your Way Around Austin Okay, I have never done one of these myself but I see them happening downtown ALL the time! If this is something up your alley, then absolutely go for it and I promise there are like 500 companies in Austin that have them! I haven’t gone, so I don’t have a specific company I would recommend just yet.

Take a Candle Making Class With Friends Something fun and unique? Take a candle-making class with Candles & Co in Austin ! They have pour parties you can take as a group and enjoy making your candle while drinking some wine. I got to attend one with a bunch of Austin bloggers and HAD SO MUCH FUN! photo: Taylor Prisen Photography

Have a Shopping Trip Day at the Domain If you want to enjoy an afternoon of shopping and walking around with your girls, then head to The Domain in Austin! Plenty of stores worth checking out, bakeries, ice cream shops, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and more! It’s basically the one stop shop!

Walk Around South Congress Austin The most Austin street and the crowd will show it! A lot like the domain in terms of having every kind of store, but it’s just one long street and gives off way more Austin-vibes. Head here to be a tourist for the afternoon!

Catch a Comedy Show at Esthers Follies Absolutely love the comedy shows at Esther’s Follies in Austin ! Without a doubt going to make you laugh your butt off. Afterwards, you can walk right over to 6th street or Rainey Street for a night out!

Catch a Movie Together at Alamo Drafthouse If you guys are looking for an Austin experience but maybe the weather is not ideal for outdoor activities, then definitely catch a movie at Alamo Drafthouse! Plenty of locations in Austin, and it’s Austin-based so you’re hitting a local spot.

Austin Bachelorette Ideas During Summer

Enjoy a Dip in Barton Springs Pool Iconic Austin right here. Barton Springs is a great place to lay out during a hot summer day and enjoy the warm weather! Half public pool, half river, 100% will keep you cool on a hot day. They also have the free portion just behind Barton Springs, seen above! The Barton Springs main pool doesn’t allow for drinks or pets, but the free side does!

Hike Up and Enjoy a Dip in the Greenbelt The best place on a sunny day with some friends! Grab some beers, catch some sun, and you can  jump off the rocks  if you are feeling bold! Park at the “Gaines Creek and Twin Falls Access Point” and follow the trail on your right all the way to the Falls. It’s about a half mile walk through the trail, and you’ll know when you’re there!

Paddleboard or Kayak on Lake Austin It’s on every Austinite bucket list and it must be done if the weather is right! You can rent Kayaks or Paddle-board from the Texas Rowing Center , which is my personal favorite company to kayak within Austin!

sunset bat tour austin - agirlfromtx

Go On a Sunset Boat Bat Tour (BYOB!) You can take a gorgeous sunset bat tour of Austin on either Lonestar Cruises or Capital Cruises in Austin! Both have wonderful sunset tours, and they’re BYOB so you can grab a bottle of cheap wine from the store and enjoy the sunset tour with your girls!

Hamilton Pool Day Trip If you have a car and are up for the drive, head on over to Hamilton Pool just on the outside of Austin! However, tickets MUST be booked in advance. View tickets here.

lake austin boat rental - float on

Go Take a Lake Austin Boat Ride One of the best in Austin is Float On Boat Rentals! You can take a full day trip out onto Lake Austin, just 30 minutes or so from Downtown Austin. Truly an absolute blast for a summer activity. We rent them every few years with friends and love being on the water!

And you do join other boats and meet up with other people so it’s not just a solo thing, ou can make it more social!

Float the River Down in San Marcos, Texas A classic Austin summer activity, floating the river! This usually costs like $20-$40 per person and there are so many different companies that do it. I personally recommend checking out Don’s Fish Camp as my favorite company to float with! And you can view my entire guide to floating the river in Austin here.

Site Poolside at a Gorgeous Hotel in Austin So many different hotels you can check out with gorgeous pools! If you’re looking to keep it a little more low-key but also want a cocktail in hand, then these should be your go-to options. One of my favorite bloggers in Austin, Shelby Sorrel , has a whole blog post listing all the best hotel pools in Austin !

Austin Bars to Visit During a Bachelorette Weekend

If you want to… jam out to kareoke together.

If you’re looking to sing some tunes together rather than going to any ‘ole bar, then here are some great options to check out! Hi-Tunes up in North Austin & Highball in North Austin both have plenty of private rooms available (and Hi-Tunes is BYOB which def saves you money on drinks) Ego’s off South Congress & College Roadhouse both are public bars with karaoke available inside. Ego’s has an older crowd and is always a blast, so I would recommend that one first! You can also hang out at Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar if you want to enjoy some great music with your drinks! I have yet to go, but I have heard good things.

If You Want To… Get Your Dancing Groove On

Looking to get your dancing feet on for your Austin bachelorette party instead of just drinking and talking? I would recommend checking out Broken Spoke for a night of country dancing (I promise there are plenty of newbies there!). You can also check out Barbarella off Sixth Street for dancing or Container Bar on Rainey (although both are more on the club dancing side than anything). If you’re wanting Texas Country but maybe want to go do other bars before and after, I would go for White Horse! $10 cover to get in and there is two-stepping, but tons of bars around to visit after if you want more than just two-stepping!

Austin Bachelorette Party Ideas & Things To Do || agirlfromtx

Rainy Street: Where Most Bachelorette Parties Go

If you want a night out for your Austin bachelorette party (especially if you aren’t up for shots with 18 year olds), then this is the place to be! My favorites have to be Lucille’s  (to hear yourself think),  Container Bar  (if you want to dance),  Craft Pride   (for delicious beer options, live music, and pizza), an d Icenhauers  (for a killer cocktail)!

If You Want To… Hang Out at Low Key Local Spots

This is more of the up-and-coming spot, so you’re going to get way more of a local Austin crowd here. Also if you want to go all out, then probably just do Rainey instead since East Side is more chill. Some favorites here are  Kitty Cohen’s  for a delicious cocktail, Whistler’ s for a good night,  Lazarus Brewing  for a refreshing beer, and Domo Alley Gato  for a twist!

If You Want To… An Austin Night of Debauchery

The name should tell you everything you need to know. If you are under the age of 23, this is a solid place to be! If you are over the age of 23, my guess is 20 minutes into Dirty Sixth you will wonder why everyone looks so young. It’s iconic, but not my top recommendation for an Austin bachelorette party bar-hopping area. Make sure you start at Chupacabra and order a fishbowl marg, and beware that it’s the size of your head.  Afterward, you can check out some of our favorites:  Maggie Mae’s ,  Cheers ,  Barbarella  (THE BEST), or Recess. Your last bar should be  Buckshot  where you top the night off with a Colt .45 shot on the rooftop, and make sure to grab some pizza from  Ropollos  before you Uber back!

Or opt for West Sixth, Dabauchery but an Older Crowd West Sixth is much like Dirty, but with an average age above 23! Our favorites are  Kung Fu Saloon  for the games,  Greenlight Social  for the Capri Suns,  Concrete Cowboy  for the dancing, and  RIO  because it’s simply a classic!

Where to Eat Brunch in Austin

SEE MORE : 16 BEST BRUNCHES IN AUSTIN, TEXAS

Eberly ($$$) My personal favorite brunch spot. It’s gorgeous and unique, with killer food. They also have plenty of space to accommodate a larger group of people.

Taco Deli ($) Known for having the best breakfast tacos in town! Way less expensive than most the options on this list, and its amazing. The perfect thing to get after a night out, too!

Bird Bird Biscuit ($) If you want something fast and easy rather than a sit down spot, their biscuits are the BEST in town! More on the affordable side for sure. Not a ton of seating for a bigger group, but you can always just spread out!

Bangers ($$) Famous for their delicious German sausage brunch & Sunday manmosas! Make sure you go at 10am when it opens to avoid a very very long wait. This is the best option if you want a boozy brunch!

Irenes ($$) Keep it light, healthy, and Instagrammable at Irene’s on 6th! Smaller options but plenty of space available for a larger size group. Also, cute as heck.

Fresa’s South First ($$) A great option for a tex mex style brunch with a bigger group! Plenty of space available to accommodate everyone, and great Texas style food if you are from out of state!

Hank’s Austin ($$) A SUPER cute option for brunch where you can dress up, plus they have so much space for a bigger group to sit. The prices are also really reasonable, which makes it even better.

Patrizis Italian Food Truck

Where to Get Dinner With Larger Groups

Terry Black BBQ ($$) In my opinion, the best BBQ spot in Austin (obv not including Franklins), but there is occasionally a wait! If you know you want to  CHOW DOWN  then this is the place to be. I also think their sides are amazing if you happen to be traveling with someone that is a vegetarian…

Matt’s El Rancho ($$) One of the  oldest  restaurants in Austin, and it has lasted this long because it is one of the best for some Tex Mex! This gem is down South and perfect for a  larger party . Beware, it gets busy fast!

Oasis Brewery ($$) Okay so here is my local tip. Ditch the actual restaurant itself, because it is overpriced and the food is mediocre. If you go to the three story brewery instead, you’re going to get the BEST views and the bar food is literally better than the restaurant food. But this spot is perfect for bigger groups, and while the food isn’t life-changing the view alone makes it worth it.

Loro ($$) Tex-mex asian fusion you’ll love, with a cute patio too! This is a great Austin restaurant for groups because of the tables and seating available. Also, they have killer cocktails so you can enjoy a drink!

Patrizis ($) Outdoor Italian food truck that will blow your pasta-loving mind, I guarantee you! Seriously I always recommend people go here. You get AMAZING pasta for great prices (like $9ish) and they have a giant patio so you can fit lots of people.

For Ordering In … Via 313 or iFratelli Pizza Both are amazing pizza options for ordering in! Without a doubt, Via 313 is one of the best pizza spots in Austin so you will absolutely love that! My personal favorite is iFratelli because their thin crust makes my heart sing.

P6 Rooftop Bar Rooftop bar with one of the best views over the lake. Beware though, cocktails are not cheap! Trudy’s

Open until 2am & the perfect spot for a late night margarita & some 2am tacos. Bar Peached A delicious cocktail spot with amazing small plates for groups! Easy Tiger This German style beer garden has plenty of bites and beers for your large group!

Anthem I love the fun cocktails and outdoor patio at Anthem! Also, their tapas style menu is perfect for groups. Lazarus Brewery Perfect low key central brewery if you’re thinking night time craft beers are your jam. House Wine A cute little house turned wine bar, perfect if you want wine with your gals! Tillery Kitchen A gorgeous lakeside patio if you’re looking to enjoy a beer outside!

The bride who likes to "chill" party can day drink her way through Rainey Street and end the night bar-hopping on Sixth Street. There's no shortage of bars (read: bars, not nightclubs, hence the "chill") in this city! And the foodie bride?! She can enjoy some of the best BBQ and tex-mex around.

  • Like to be active.  Hike the greenbelt, go swimming at barton springs , kayak on town lake or take a yoga class with baby goats !
  • Like to "chill" party.  Day drink on Rainey Street , bar-hop on Sixth Street or chill out on Austin's East Side. Note that Austin is big on bars, not nightclubs, hence the "chill!"
  • Like Tex-Mex and BBQ.  Only in Austin can you eat  tacos for three meals a day!

You can theme your Austin bachelorette party in many different ways (and outfit your bride squad to match on The Knot Shop ), whether your group is looking for great food, a little R&R, some adventure—or all of the above. But whatever you're seeking, every bride and her crew should take advantage of the fact that Austin is the live music capital of Texas—if not the country. Whether you're here for a festival, concert, or just a random weekend, you'll find plenty of opportunities to dance the night away to a live band throughout the city.

For the Adventurous Bride

You'll have plenty of options to get outside and do, whether it's paddleboarding and biking or grabbing the mic for karaoke nights.

For the Bride Who Just Wants to Relax

For plenty of down time and a little pampering there are plenty of spa retreats to hole away in for the entire weekend including Miraval Austin and Lake Austin Spa Resort .

For the Foodie Crew

Of course, Austin is also a mecca for good food and brews, so if your bride is a foodie, you're planning a party in the right place. You'll find everything from top tacos, gourmet Asian-fusion, and delicious barbeque to sample throughout the city, as well as craft breweries and bar hopping on Rainey Street to wet her appetite.

Austin Bachelorette Party Idea - Keep Austin Weird Sign

An Austin bachelorette party should be loaded with good eats, plenty of adventure, and lots of quality time. Take advantage of it all with a loaded three-day itinerary.

Afternoon: After checking into your hotel or Vrbo , start your trip with a delicious lunch at the Laundrette . This converted, old-school laundromat serves up new American small bites like beet hummus, burrata, and Old Bay aioli fried shrimp for a lighter meal, or delicious plates like roasted chicken kale salad, a fried chicken sammie on challah bread, and grilled cheese and tomato soup. Next up: Walk the city to explore its landmarks and make your way to South Congress street, where you'll find loads of shopping and cute boutiques. This is a great way to introduce yourselves to the city without overloading day one. If you're not feeling to ragged from your trip in, it's also a great opportunity for a bridal crew photo shoot.(there are plenty of perfect photo opp spots you'll want snaps from to cherish). To do so, book a photographer through Flytographer , and plan a day of exploring with a camera following your every move.

Evening: Your first dinner should be at Emmer & Rye , a farm-to-table spot serving food from around the globe (crispy pork shoulder and dry aged wagyu NY steak, for example) with dim sum-style carts passing by throughout your meal offering options like red corn johnny cakes and butternut tartare. The restaurant is within walking distance to Rainey Street, the perfect spot to bar hop for your first night on the town.

Morning: Begin your day with breakfast at the aptly named Better Half Coffee & Cocktails (don't miss the sweet corn pancakes and the bloody mary with house-pickled green beans) before heading out for a day on the water on LakeTravis.

Afternoon: Rent a party parge from VIP Lake Travis . Their offerings range from small pontoon boats for parties of 10-12 to large double-decker party parges featuring water slides. Or for calmer waters, head to Barton Springs, a spring-fed public pool where you can swim and cool off on hot summer days. Whichever you choose, pack a picnic lunch from the Whole Foods Flagship Store in Austin.

Evening: Head over to The Roosevelt Room for award-winning cocktails to pregame your night. Then it's off to Home Slice Pizza for a casual, yet absolutely delicious dinner that's easy for a large group. Before heading out to the rowdier bars on Sixth Street for live music and drinks, stop in at Midnight Cowboy , a reservations-only (book far in advance) cocktail lounge hidden on Sixth Street. You'll get instructions on how to enter with a secret password after you make your reservation.

Afternoon: Take a food tour with Austin Secret Food Tour to experience authentic BBQ joints in Austin, among other eateries in this city of foodies. Along the way, you'll pass through the city's greatest landmarks and find out just how the locals keep Austin weird. If you'd rather keep things calm, consider taking in the city with rooftop yoga and mimosas , followed by a bit of pampering at milk + honey spa | 2nd Street District .

Evening: Round out the day of eating with dinner at Wu Chow , one of Austin's best spots for gourmet, farm-fresh, and modern Chinese cuisine, before heading out for a last night of good music. Check out The Continental Club , C-Boys Heart & Soul , or Cedar Street Courtyard for live performances without a need for tickets in advance.

Austin Bachelorette Scavenger Hunt

Make your Austin activities a little 'weirder' and turn your itinerary into a game with an Austin scavenger hunt. Distribute a list of activities with points awarded for each completed task and ask participants to provide proof with pictures. Download an editable template to customize the list and include local attractions and sights. Don't forget to give the winner a prize such as a souvenir or t-shirt.

Austin Bachelorette Party Hotel - W Hotel Austin

There are plenty of options for lodging in Austin, the key is to be close to downtown (Sixth Street or Rainey Street) to keep things convenient. Look through TripAdvisor to find the hotels with the best locations. If you'd rather stay together, consider booking a house rental for the weekend.

Best Hotels in Scottsdale for a BacheloretteParty

W Austin : Book this chic spot in downtown to be close to the action and only steps from Lady Bird Lake (plus the hotel's luxury pool doesn't hurt!).

Hotel San Jose : If you'd rather be closer to South Congress Street, this is a nice, budget-friendly option with an urban bungalow feel and just a few blocks from downtown.

Pro tip: The Knot has partnerd with Hotel Planner to help you secure the best group hotel rate and get free hotel advice from an expert travel planner.

Austin Bachelorette House Rentals

There are plenty of housing options for a Scottsdale bachelorette party, so check out Vrbo , Airbnb and Hopper Homes . Pro tip: If you're looking to supplement your vacation rental stay with some hotel amenities such as a swimming pool or a fitness facility, you can secure Scottsdale hotel day passes on ResortPass .

Austin Bachelorette Party Ideas - Bars and clubs at the famous Sixth Street music and entertainment district of downtown Austin, Texas

When celebrating your bachelorette party in Austin, you deserve delicious food and drinks for your send off into married life. Here are some of our favorite spots to visit in Austin, Texas.

Best Austin Bachelorette Restaurants

Red Ash : For a fine Italian meal, make a reservation at Red Ash to indulge in some authentic dishes. They have plenty of homemade pasta, wood-fired entrées, scratch made desserts, and a great wine list.

Odd Duck : If you and your group are adventurous eaters, plan on dining at Odd Duck. The upscale establishment really knows how to play with flavors, coming up with creative dishes that work well. They also source a lot of their ingredients from local farms, so the freshness and quality of the ingredients is a big reason their dishes are so memorable. Try plates like their Ceviche with peach aquachile and cilantro, radish, and potato chips, their Chicken Heart Satay with chimichurri and morita chile yogurt, or the Thai Melon Salad with peanuts, crisp cucumber, basil, and tender pork belly.

Justine's : For traditional French dishes, have an elegant dinner at Justine's. Share some traditional dishes or fresh, tender salmon with chives, dill, lemon, horseradish, crème fraîche and a crostini.

Best Austin Bachelorette Party Bars

Cheer Up Charlie's : Cheer Up Charlie's is a great place to grab a drink. They even do 90s DJ nights, so you can sing along to Backstreet Boys while sipping your fresh margarita. In addition to the 90s DJ nights, they prioritize various forms of entertainment, so there always seems to be something going on there.

The Jackalope : The Jackalope is a dive bar in Austin that serves incredible food and has a great happy hour. If you're looking for juicy burgers and cheesy pizza, this is your spot. They do draft cocktails, in addition to beer and wine and have a dog friendly patio so you can spot a bunch of adorable puppies while drinking your drinks.

Tiki Tatsu-Ya : Tiki Tatsu-Ya has a menu full of craft cocktails to get the bachelorette night started. The ambience and the vibe is so much fun and the drinks are incredibly Instagramable, served with outrageous ceramic tiki cups.

While visiting Austin there are multiple airlines that fly direct like United, Spirit, Delta, American, JetBlue, and more from the east and west coast. The late fall is a popular time to visit Austin, dodging the severe temperatures. They have a metro bus to help you get around, and a car rental is also a favorable option, in addition to ride sharing.

People underestimate how stressful it is to plan a wedding. You’ve finally landed a partner who can pass your Aunt Linda’s background check and interrogation, and now you have to put together a party that’ll look just as good in person as it does on Instagram. It’s enough to make some people decide to elope.

That’s why the bachelorette party needs to be stress-free. It’s the bride’s only retreat from wedding planning, and as their friend, it’s your job to take the lead and provide any necessary breaks. Use our guide for a bachelorette party that will impress, entertain, and most of all, free the bride up to focus on deciding between 40 subtly different wedding hashtags.

Josephine House

Start your weekend just west of downtown at this elegant little house in Clarksville with picture-perfect scenery and baked goods. Dishes like the heirloom rice bowl and avocado toast will make you feel at least slightly healthy, and if you want something sweet, be sure to order the kouign amann or Nutella morning bun.

Hillside Farmacy

East Austin

If your bride is more of a book club than a night club type, try Hillside Farmacy, an East Side brunch spot that’s a little more low-key. You can sit inside and feel like you’re at a small French bistro, or opt for one of the big picnic tables on the patio, which is where you want to be with a group, especially when the weather is nice. The fried egg sandwich or the big brekkie will give everyone the protein power they need to get through the afternoon’s schedule of walking around town, and a Bloody Mary or two will help set the tone for the rest of the day.

La Barbecue image

La Barbecue

A trip to Austin wouldn’t be complete without at least a little bit of barbecue. And La Barbecue is one of our favorite spots to go with a group. The brisket here is among the best in town, but you can just as easily fill up on sides if you’re not careful. Just be warned—most of the dishes here lean pretty heavy on the pepper, which we’ve also found to be an eye-opening way to start the day.

Tiny Boxwoods image

Tiny Boxwoods

Bakery/Cafe

Tiny Boxwoods is another place you’ll want to visit early in your bachelorette odyssey, while everyone is still excited to look presentable and before anyone’s busted out any potentially inappropriate props. This place looks like a cross between a miniature country club and a fancy pool house, and it’s a great option for sitting outside with some sangria. Food-wise, the place serves everything from chia seed pudding and açai bowls to migas and a solid burger, along with the kind of chocolate chip cookies you’ll wish you had the recipe.

Hula Hut image

Lake Austin Blvd

Renting a boat on Lake Austin is the best semi-outdoorsy thing your group can do in town. Before you put on your matching captains’ hats, though, eat some tacos and enchiladas at this lakeside Tex-Mex restaurant—the convenience of being able to eat with a party of 12 and then walk to your boat is incomparable. There’s even a “boat-side delivery” dock in case you’re already on the water and forgot to pack anything other than hard seltzers.

Magnolia Cafe image

Magnolia Cafe

South Congress

Magnolia Cafe is a classic diner that has something for every member of your group, regardless of what they’re not eating this month. There are salads for those trying to be healthy, and things like the eggscape —a cheesy pile of potatoes with fried eggs—for whoever may or may not still be drunk from last night. Get some cornmeal or gingerbread pancakes for the table, too. There’s usually a long line to get in, but it moves fairly quickly and you can recount the night before in the meantime.

Launderette image

Launderette

If there’s one restaurant in Austin that’s designed for a laid-back bachelorette party, it’s Launderette. There’s a big patio, plus a few large indoor tables, and most of the menu is great for sharing. The menu changes regularly, but you can usually expect to find dishes like fried oysters, burrata with focaccia, and pork spare ribs. Besides the food, Launderette also has an excellent wine list and a small menu of seasonal cocktails, which is great for kicking off or reflecting on the weekend.

Downtown Austin

Wu Chow is an upscale Chinese restaurant that’s a short walk from most downtown hotels, and it’s a great option for dinner before heading to nearby Dirty Sixth or Rainey Street . The hip hop music and tiki drinks will get everyone in the party mood, and if those don’t do the trick, the soup dumplings should. The large entrees, like scallions hugging beef and seafood fried rice, are great for sharing, and there’s a big patio that’s perfect for a pre-dinner drink if there’s a wait.

Lustre Pearl image

Lustre Pearl

Rainey Street

Lustre Pearl is located in a multi-story house on Rainey Street , so your group can take over the front yard, backyard, balcony, or all three. As the night progresses, this place tends to get busy, so show up early if you want something chill, otherwise, arrive ready to party.

undefined

Also on Rainey, Lucille is slightly more low-key than other places on the street, and it’s perfect for day drinking when everyone is going at their own pace after a long night. The backyard has hammocks and is usually full of dogs, so you’ll feel like you’re hanging at a friend’s house rather than the overcrowded bar this place becomes at night.

The White Horse image

The White Horse

If your group is hoping to see some live music, and maybe even semi-learn to two-step, head to this bar and dance hall on the East Side. It’s a divey honky-tonk where you shouldn’t be surprised if someone in cowboy boots orders you a shot and asks how you ended up at The White Horse in the first place. If you want to make a night out of it, check out The Liberty or Hotel Vegas afterward.

photo credit: The Blind Pig Pub

undefined

The Blind Pig Pub

At some point in the night, you’ll inevitably end up on Dirty Sixth Street. When you get there, head to The Blind Pig.  Inside, you’ll find four bars, two different stages for live music, and the biggest rooftop patio on the street. While you’ll undoubtedly run into more than a few UT students, The Blind Pig is the best option on the street if you don’t want to have to fight your way through a crowd every time you need a drink. Plus, there’s a big rooftop where you can look out over the street below.

The bar at LoLo with wooden accents, stools, globe lights, and a menu board on the back wall.

After a long day of bar-hopping on East Sixth Street, you might just want somewhere to sit down and relax your feet for a bit, without ending the night completely. Lolo is a natural wine bar with a laid-back interior decorated with mid-century Parisian lamps. There’s also a large, covered patio out back which is where you’ll probably end up if you’re rolling in with a crew. And if you didn’t get enough at dinner, there’s a small menu of light bites to help you end the night a little more responsibly.

Ultimate Austin Bachelorette Party Itinerary

Your Austin bachelorette party itinerary planning just got a whole lot easier. In this post, I’ve got six different itineraries for you, depending on what your group prefers.

How to Make a Bachelorette Itinerary

But first, let’s talk about what you need in your bachelorette party itinerary. Here are a few quick tips:

  • Think about the preferences of the bride-to-be and the group, things like personal interests, physical level, drinking preference, and budget.
  • Consider the season. In Austin, summer can be stifling and winter can be too cold. Also, look at what events are going on in the city. Plan your activities accordingly.
  • Schedule/reserve up to 3 things maximum in a day. You want a casual schedule to fit all personalities. For example, maybe you book 1 group activity and have 1 dinner reservation in a day.
  • Make time for rest, breaks, and hangovers. In other words, have slow mornings and afternoon breaks.

Using the above tips and the below schedule structure, fill it in! This is for a quick weekend trip, but you can easily repeat the Day 2 structure for a longer trip.

  • Arrive at your rental/hotel around 3 pm
  • Dinner around 6-8 pm
  • Breakfast/brunch
  • Activity – mid-morning
  • Activity – afternoon
  • Leisurely afternoon time: rest, low-key activity
  • Get-ready fun around 5 pm
  • Pre or post-dinner fun: bars, dancing, shows

Austin Bachelorette Party Guide: Best Things To Do and a Full Itinerary

Austin Bachelorette Itinerary and Guide

Austin, Texas is a lively and unique city to visit which makes it one of the most popular destinations for a bachelorette party. I had my bachelorette party in Austin and can definitely say it was one of the most fun weekends of my life! There are a wide variety of activity options in Austin that can match any vibe or budget.

Is Austin a good destination for a bachelorette party?

YES! Austin is a great location for a bachelorette party because it is accessible and affordable. There are flights to and from most major airports around the US and housing is much cheaper than other popular bachelorette destinations. There are also a variety of activity options in Austin that will match the energy of any bride. Depending on your group’s itinerary and activities planned, it is possible to plan a bachelorette in Austin on a budget by cutting down on meals at restaurants and booking a house with a pool.

Read how to plan the perfect bachelorette party here!

Best time to visit austin, tx.

Spring and fall are the best times of year to visit Austin because it will still be warm enough to enjoy water-based activities but most likely won’t be too hot. My bachelorette party was in early September and while it was still hot, it was comfortable to be outside.

The summer will be hot but as long as you have indoor and water-based activities planned, it is manageable. The winter will be more mild but there is the potential for cold temperatures.

Where to fly for an Austin Bachelorette party

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is the closest airport to fly into for an Austin bachelorette party. There is a public bus that runs every 15 minutes from the airport to downtown Austin for only $1.25 a person (cash only). The drive is about 35 minutes total and will be much cheaper than a rideshare app which will be ~$25 depending on surges.

Transportation in Austin

Uber and Lyft are the easiest way to get around Austin. My bachelorette party house was about a 15 minute drive to downtown and we had no issues ordering multiple cars. If you are planning a large group activity outside of downtown Austin, I recommend booking a large bus or van for your group in advance.

House rental

Here are the 20 best rental properties for a bachelorette party in austin.

The good thing about planning a bachelorette party in Austin is that ubers are readily available so you do not necessarily need to be walkable to everything you have planned for the weekend. Depending on your group size and vibe, a house rental may be a better option for you over a hotel. This way you can all stay together and even plan some group activities at the house as a way to save money!

Definitely check out houses or apartments on Airbnb or VRBO for your group size and budget. This was the house we booked for my bachelorette party and it was a total vibe! It was a little farther to downtown than other options but we planned a lot of activities to be at the house so it was not an issue.

Hotel options

If planning a smaller bachelorette party in Austin, you may want to stay at a hotel to be walkable to everything downtown.

This downtown Austin hotel has a gym, spa, pool, restaurant and lots of unique decor!

Hotel Van Zandt

Take in the gorgeous river views at this reasonably priced luxury hotel.

South Congress Hotel

The South Congress Hotel is a total vibe with a beautiful pool. It is also walkable to all of the South Congress which is a huge perk depending on your group’s itinerary!

Austin Bachelorette activities

There are so many activity options for an Austin bachelorette party that you will have to decide between just a few for your group depending on what you all will enjoy the most. Every bride squad is unique so make sure to think about your overall itinerary when planning which activities to include!

Pool party with The Cocktail Cowboys

The Cocktail Cowboys are such a fun addition to any activity you have planned at the house. I hired the same company for my bestie’s bachelorette in Scottsdale and we had the BEST time with them. They will serve drinks, organize games, pamper you, DJ, take pictures and clean if you want! They are at your service to bring all of the good vibes to your party. Even if your house does not have a pool, The Cocktail Cowboys would be the perfect addition to pregame a night out downtown!

Check out The Cocktail Cowboys for more information and use this link to book for $25 off!

Visit Barton Springs

Barton Springs is one of the most iconic spots to visit in Austin. It is a natural swimming pool and it is SO refreshing and fun. Our group spent a couple hours here on our first day while we waited for our rental house to be available for check-in. There is even a diving board if anyone in your group wants to show off some skills! It costs $9 per person to enter the main pool area.

Lake Travis Boat Day

Lake Travis and party cove was my favorite activity of my bachelorette party. There are tons of boat rental companies depending on your group size and if you want a shared or private boat. No matter what, I definitely recommend planning this activity for your Austin bachelorette party! We were a large group (20 girls) so opted to take a party bus to the lake to save the hassle of organizing car rides.

Pedal Tavern Pub Crawl

This is a classic bachelorette party activity and is so much fun to do in Austin because of the lively downtown scene.

Vineyard Tour

There are actually a few famous vineyards on the cusp of Austin and taking a tour there is a great activity for a bachelorette weekend! This would be so fun to organize with a party bus so you will be entertained on the ride to and from the vineyards.

Kayak or paddle-board on Lady Bird Lake

Lady Bird Lake is the lake that flows through downtown Austin. There are no speed boats allowed on this lake so it is perfect for kayaking or paddle boarding. This is a unique and fun thing to do for your active bride!

The Brunch Bus

If your crew wants to start the day strong, The Brunch Bus is the perfect way to kick off the party. There is live music and you will hop around to different famous brunch spots.

Shop on South Congress

South Congress is a very famous shopping street in Austin. You could spend hours browsing the variety of shops from upscale boutiques to unique thrift stores. This is a great morning activity in Austin bachelorette party activity!

Mural & Mimosa Tour

Austin is also famous for its many picturesque murals around the city. You can either navigate your own way through the city to see the murals or book a private car to take pictures as a group in front of each one.

The best places to eat in Austin for a bachelorette party

Austin is world famous for its epic food scene and you definitely want to get a taste of it at an Austin bachelorette party. Below are some of the best places to eat in Austin! Make sure to book a reservation in advance if you are a large bachelorette group.

Torchy’s Taco

Torchy’s Tacos are known to be the best tacos in Austin and they do not disappoint. Plan to eat lunch or dinner here one day or even have it delivered to the house! There are multiple locations in Austin.

Bangers Sausage House + Beer Garden

Bangers is a great space to eat as a large bachelorette group. There is a huge outdoor space with long tables and live music.

Grizzelda’s

Grizzelda’s is a gorgeous restaurant with an even better menu. It is also relatively affordable for a nice meal out as a big group. Make sure to book a table in advance if you are a large bachelorette group!

Matt’s El Rancho

This is a delicious Tex-Mex restaurant with affordable food and drinks and plenty of space for a large group. This would be a great stop to get dinner and margaritas before heading out for the night!

Eberly is a very vibey and famous Austin restaurant. It is expensive but the food and drinks are delicious. If dinner here isn’t in the budget, consider stopping in here for a drink at happy hour just to check it out!

The best bars for an Austin bachelorette party

what to do on a Austin bachelorette

There are two main areas for nightlife and bar hopping in Austin for a bachelorette party. Rainy Street is home to a few lively unique bungalow bars and is slightly more low key. West Sixth Street is a walking street lined with clubs and bars that will have you dancing all night long. Our group had a blast splitting a night out between these two locations.

I also feel obligated to add that my friend and I both had our phones stolen on Sixth Street right out of our purses. I mean, who steals the bride’s phone?! All jokes aside, there are tons of fun bars for a night out in this area but it is important to stay aware of your surroundings and use the buddy system! Don’t worry, we didn’t let it ruin our night out.

Club promoters will approach you as you walk down Sixth Street and offer free drinks if you come into their bar, especially if you are a bachelorette group. There is nothing wrong with taking them up on their offer to kick off your Sixth Street bar crawl!

Unbarlievable

This is a unique bungalow bar on Rainey street with a slide and other fun aspects! Our group had a great time chatting with the bartenders and going down the slide here.

77 Degrees Rooftop

Stop at this rooftop for a drink to take in the epic Austin city views.

This lively bar is on the bottom of Hotel Van Zandt and typically has live music.

Broken Spoke

This is another fun live music option downtown Austin.

Bangers was listed above as a great place to eat as a large group but it is also a fun bar at night with live music.

The Jackalope

The Jackelope is where my bachelorette party spent most of our night on Sixth Street. There is great music playing and plenty of other groups to meet here!

An Austin Texas bachelorette weekend

1. Getting here

The Austin Bergstrom International Airport is just 8 miles from Downtown Austin. You can rent a car, but if you book a hotel or Airbnb in a walkable area, you can probably get by with just a few rideshares and avoid a car rental completely.

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

2. Where to stay

For a bachelorette party, I recommend two main areas:

1. Downtown. You can walk to most everything you’ll need for an amaing weekend in ATX! Nightlife, concerts, and food are just a few steps from some of the swankiest hotels in Austin. Honestly, if I was planning my own bachelorette weekend in Austin, I’d choose a downtown hotel.

Downtown Austin bachelorette party itinerary

SPEND+++:  The W offers a swanky stay with waterfront views and a rooftop pool if you have the budget for it, or look for rooms at The Line , a boutique hotel that overlooks the South Congress bat bridge.

SAVE+: Consider Native Hostel (ignore the word “hostel” because this is NOT your average hostel!) for a great place to stay near downtown. It’s a luxury hostel in a historic 1890s building with suites that sleep 4 or 6, or a big “romper room” that sleeps 10. There’s a bar, cafe, and kitchen downstairs with craft cocktails and delicious bites.

2. South Congress Ave  (or surrounding neighborhoods). SOCO is the iconic tourist street with lots of restaurants, shops, and a few concert venues. From here, you can walk a mile to get downtown (or catch a quick ride share.)

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

Spend+++:  The South Congress Hotel is one of my favorite places to stay on South Congress. It has an awesome rooftop pool, a coffee shop and three restaurants, and easy access to everything on SOCO. For a slightly less expensive option, look into the Austin Motel , a recently updated retro Austin institution with an iconic sign out front and a kidney-shaped swimming pool

Save+:  There are plenty of vacation rentals available in various price points in the surrounding neighborhoods, too. Check out this gorgeous rental with a pool!

PS: Check out the 12 best airbnbs in Austin Texas here .

3. What to do during the day

Boating: feb – sep.

Rent from the top boat rental company in Austin, Float On Rentals . They offer everything from small, fast ski boats to giant pontoon boats that will fit the entire party! All boats are provided with a Yeti cooler that you can fill up with your favorite beverages while you enjoy floating up and down the Colorado River. They also provide these fun Lilly Pads, which are basically giant floaties that are made for groups. Hello, photo opp! | WEBSITE |

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

Paddle Board or Kayak on Lady Bird Lake

There are rental companies all around the lake where you can rent a SUP or a 1- or 2-person kayak for a couple hours. Austin has warm, sunny weather for most of the spring, summer, and fall, so you can take advantage of the lake for most of the year.

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

Take an aerial class at sky candy

Ever wanted to learn how to be a aerial artist? Well, you might not master it in an hour-long class, but you’ll get to attempt a few fun tricks (and probably have a lot of laughs along the way) with a beginner class at Sky Candy! | WEBSITE |

Take pics by the famous Murals

Explore Austin’s top murals! Stop by a few of the iconic murals while you’re frolicking around the city. See Austin’s Most famous South Congress Murals and Where To Eat By Them.

Swim at Barton Springs

Ready for some coooold water? Barton Springs is a natural spring-fed swimming hole in the middle of Austin with water that’s 68 degrees year-round! (It feels AMAZING on the hottest days of the summer.) | WEBSITE |

Experience the ultimate nail art at Cute Nail Salon

If you’re visiting Austin with a big bachelorette party, you can even book the entire salon so all your girls can’t their nails done. Head to their events page for details. | WEBSITE |

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

Explore South Congress

It’s a very touristy street in Austin, but I swear that it’s SO much fun and not a tourist trap at all! As an Austin local, I still spend many weekend afternoons just wandering up and down the street with friends. There are some great shops and restaurants. Check out this guide to South Congress for all my top picks!

Pedal the PubCrawler of Austin

Book a tour on the PubCrawler and pedal your way around the pubs of West 6th or the Capitol/Warehouse district. Each bus holds 15 passengers, and you can BYOB on the bike for two hours of bar-crawling fun! | WEBSITE |

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

Alamo Drafthouse

Alamo Drafthouse movie theater started in Austin in the 90s, and since then it’s grown in popularity and now there are dozens of these awesome movie theaters around the country.

Why is it so great? They have craft beer, bottomless popcorn, and delicious food that is brought to you by a server! You never have to stand up during the movie to get refills. For the most unique theater experience, head to the Ritz location downtown, which opened as a small theater in 1929 and went through several lives as a music hall, club, and comedy house, before it became Alamo Drafthouse in 2007. | WEBSITE |

4. What To Do At Night

See live music.

You are in the live music capital of the world, after all! Here are a few of my favorite venues in Downtown Austin that you can hit up during your bachelorette weekend in Austin:

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

Moody Theater // where ACL Live is filmed, but they also offer lots of other shows. As an Austin local, this is my very favorite place to see live music!

Stubb’s// some of the biggest bands that come through Austin play here! There’s a smaller intimate stage indoors, and an outdoor stage for the big names.

The Mohawk // multi-level indoor/outdoor music venue with a roof top deck

The Elephant Room // jazz music for your classier side

Antone’s // iconic blues bar

The Erwin Center // this is the BIG concert venue where the mega stars will play.

Go out on Rainey Street

Rainey Street Historic District is a street lined with little midcentury bungalows that have been turned into themed bars. There are so many places to eat and drink and dance and listen to music on this street!

Also see: where to eat and drink on Rainey Street

Go out on sixth street.

Sixth Street is the bar-lined crazy town in Downtown Austin…only head here if you’re up for a rowdy time! (But if you’re visiting Austin for a bachelorette party, there’s a good chance you’re up for it..) Also called “Dirty Sixth” by locals, Sixth Street is blocked off to vehicles on the weekends so pedestrians can have it all to themselves.

There are rows of bars to visit, so if your goal is to imbibe (and maybe get some drinks bought for you…) you’ll have no problem finding plenty of bars!

Here are a couple of my favorite places on Sixth Street:

Midnight Cowboy // a speakeasy cocktail bar with no sign marking the door – check the websites for directions to find it! Midnight Cowboy makes right by your table (dinner and a show!) and has one of the best cocktail programs in Austin. | WEBSITE |

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

Voodoo Doughnuts // I mean…is there any better drunk food? Keep in mind that this place is cash only, but they do have an ATM inside. | WEBSITE |

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

Backspace  // an intimate pizza restaurant that seats about 30. It’s a lovely place to grab a few pies and bottles of wine before heading out to see a movie or a concert. Make reservations!! | WEBSITE |

Parkside  // the sister restaurant to Backspace, this is a much larger restaurant with a second story rooftop patio that’s great for people watching on Sixth Street. Psst: they have a great happy hour here! | WEBSITE |

Easy Tiger  // a creekside beer garden at the  very  end of Sixth Street with craft beer, cocktails, housemade sandwiches and sausages, and outdoor ping pong tables. Easy Tiger is a great place to chill from the craziness of Sixth Street. | WEBSITE |

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

Firehouse Lounge // another speakeasy with craft cocktails. It’s inside the oldest firehouse in the city, dating back to 1885. | WEBSITE |

Where to eat

On to the fun stuff! Austin is a foodie’s playground, and I wouldn’t judge you if you planned this entire trip around where you want to eat.

The ultimate Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary

Prettiest restaurants in downtown Austin:

La Condesa // interior Mexican restaurant with bright colors, a gorgeous bar, and some of the tastiest margs in Austin. | WEBSITE |

Le Politique // A swanky French restaurant with an accompanying patisserie. Head for lunch or dinner, or just stop by in the morning for coffee and some of the best chocolate croissants in the city. | WEBSITE |

Red Ash Italia // an Italian grill that has theeee most delicious housemade pasta and wood-fired entrees like beef bone marrow and wild mushroom risotto.  YUM.  | WEBSITE |

Walton’s Fancy & Staple // a stunning little cafe in Austin with the yummiest options for all-day eats. This is a great girlfriend stop for a relaxing lunch. | WEBSITE |

Lambert’s // when you think of bbq restaurants, you usually think of greasy lunch spots. Lambert’s breaks all the rules by being a fancy BBQ dinner restaurant in Downtown Austin. It’s great if you want to enjoy some of the best BBQ in the city while also enjoy a classy dinner restaurant worthy of your bachelorette party. | WEBSITE |

Emmer & Rye // a farm-to-table restaurant on Rainey Street that also happens to be one of my FAVORITE restaurants in the entire city of Austin! They have a rolling dim sum cart that will be brought to your table a few times throughout dinner service with nightly specials so you can taste whatever chef Kevin Fink thinks is truly the best and greatest food available from the farmers and fishers. | WEBSITE |

The Ultimate Austin Bachelorette Party Guide

By: Author Dan Bagby

Posted on Published: January 13, 2020

Get weird before you get hitched in a city you’ll love so much.

Austin has quickly become one of the most popular Bachelorette Party destinations in the United States and beyond. With its colorful murals, gorgeous nature, wild bars, live music, relaxed party vibe, and mind-blowing food, it’s no question why thousands of brides-to-be flock to the “weird” city every year to celebrate with their squad.

Bachlorettes celebrating in Austin

If the bride’s a party animal or someone who’s just looking to relax, Austin offers a range of incredible experiences for every type of bride. By the end of your Bachelorette weekend, you won’t want to leave this quirky and wonderful city. We’ve put together the perfect guide for you, dripping with delicious tips on where to stay, what to eat, what to pack, and so much more.

Read on, and get ready to plan the ultimate Austin Bachelorette Party. Soon, the bride-to-be will be screaming with gratitude.

WHEN TO VISIT:

During the summer months, Austin can become unbearably, “can’t-step-outside-or-you’ll-feel-like-you’re melting” hot. Temperatures reach and exceed 100 degrees between June and August and the Texan summer humidity can be paralyzing and brutal.

In order to make sure that your bride tribe has the most fun possible, and is able to wander outside, we recommend avoiding the summer months. The best times to come to Austin are September to November or March to May. The temperatures during that time flow between the 70s and 80s and the city are sparkling, breezy, and gorgeous.

If you do decide to come in the summer, make sure you plan for time cooling off in a hotel or Airbnb with a pool, making it to Barton Springs Pool and keeping in the AC other times.

Pro-Tip : If you’re going in March, be sure to look up in advance the dates of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival. It tends to happen in mid-to-late March, and it takes over Austin- hotels and AirBnbs book up quickly and many venues and restaurants are reserved for festival attendees. We recommend avoiding the SXSW week entirely so that your crew can freely explore the city.

WHAT TO DO (WHILE THE SUN’S OUT):

austin texas bachelorette trip

– Barton Springs Pool : One of the crown jewels of Austin, this outdoor pool is filled entirely with water from natural springs. Put on your cutest swimsuits and spend some time splashing around in this stunning three-acre pool.

– Scavenger Hunt: A cool, fun, unique way to explore the city, is an app-led scavenger hunt. The app Let’s Roam will lead you to historic sites, cool murals, and hidden gems all around the city. Along the way, you’ll earn points and complete hilarious challenges. They also offer Bachelorette Party packages that include custom bride trivia and drink pit-stops. You’ve never done a scavenger hunt like this before, and you will never forget it!

– Kayaking and Stand Up Paddleboarding at Lady Bird Lake: Not too far from the city is the stunning Lady Bird Lake. Kayaks and stand up paddleboards can be rented at the lake so no need to worry about anything but fun in the sun. Get a little wet, have a little fun, and see the calmer side of Austin.

– Party Boat on Lake Austin: Want to enjoy the beautiful nature of Austin, but don’t want to stop the party? Rent a party boat on Lake Austin and soak up the sun with a drink in your hand as you cruise the waters.

– Karaoke:  Belt 90’s classics and Disney ballads in world-famous karaoke rooms. The Highball is the best place to karaoke in Austin. Their room themes include: Circus, Super Mario, Haunted House, and Superhero. Sing it, girl!

– Horseback Rides :   About 30 minutes outside Austin is the perfect taste of rustic Texas life. The Southern Trails Ranch in New Braunfels can take you horseback riding, skeet shooting, and ax throwing. Put on your cowboy boots and take the squad on a country adventure.

– Wine Tasting : Got any winos in your group? We know just what to do. Head to the Austin Winery for a delicious wine tasting in a beautiful industrial space.

WHERE (AND WHAT) TO EAT:

austin texas bachelorette trip

-Tacos: Tacos are a cornerstone of Austin Cuisine. If you’re visiting Austin and not eating tacos, you’re doing it 100% wrong. Breakfast tacos were made famous in Austin, so you can eat delicious tacos for every meal. Choosing where to eat tacos in Austin can be overwhelming, so we’ve highlighted a few of our favorites for you:

  • Torchy’s – Wherever you stay in town, you will never be too far from a Torchy’s. Make sure you order some chips or guac along with some Damn Good Tacos.
  • Veracruz All Natural – Run by two sisters who honed their skills in their mother’s restaurant in Mexico, the tacos at Veracruz are fresh, organic, and delicious.
  • La Condesa – This James Beard Award-nominated restaurant offers modern, creative taco dishes and mouth-watering sides.
  • Vaquero Taquero – Known for their street-style tacos, the brother-and-sister team at Vaquero Taquero makes tacos you’ll be dreaming about long after the weekend is over.

-Food Trucks: Austin helped start the Food Truck Revolution that swept the nation. You’ll see food trucks all over the city. If your squad is having trouble agreeing on a restaurant, head to the Food Truck Lot on Rainey Street – it hosts dozens of food trucks and a wide range of cuisines. Everyone can grab what they want, then sit together. It’s easy, it’s cheap, and it’s so much fun!

-BBQ: When it comes to barbeque, Texas doesn’t mess around. If you want famous, melt off the bone, richly flavored meat, then you won’t want to miss Franklin BBQ . Long lines form early for this lunch-only spot, but the lines are worth it. I still dream about this meat and it’s my first stop in Austin every time I visit now. The carnivores in your group with thank you for stopping by this Austin icon.

Insider tip: If you plan ahead, you can make a pickup order online. There is a 5 lb minimum, but that should not be a problem for a bachelorette party to handle.

-Brunch: Every bachelorette party weekend needs a good brunch or two. Austin is bursting with incredible brunch spots to help your I-Do Crew recover from a wild night and fuel up for a day of adventure. Here are some of our favorite spots that your crew will love:

  •   Cenote – Breakfast tacos, sandwiches, and veggies on one of the best patios in Austin. They support local farmers, and soon they’ll be supporting your bride tribe’s appetite.
  • Elizabeth Street Cafe – Vietnamese food for brunch? Trust us, after trying this cute, mouth-watering spot, you won’t want to do it any other way.
  • Hillside Farmacy – This adorable spot is owned by some of Austin’s oldest African-American residents. Originally a pharmacy/drugstore owned by Doc Young, this farm-to-table restaurant is just what the doctor ordered.

– G’Raj Mahal :  Mind-blowing Indian food in a converted mechanic’s shop? Yes please!

– Grizzelda’s : This insta-worthy, glamorous Tex-Mex place is equal parts beautiful and delicious. A few rounds of queso and margs here is the best way to start your night.

WHERE TO DRINK (NIGHTLIFE!):

austin texas bachelorette trip

Austin knows how to party. Whether you’re looking for a wild night on the town or a craft cocktail to sip in a classy lounge, there’s a bar for every type of person. Sixth Street, also known as “Dirty Sixth” is famous for its crazy bars and hopping nightlife. You can walk down sixth and go to whatever bar calls to you! For something a little less “Dirty”, we recommend exploring Rainey Street. It’s lined with a ton of incredible bars that will have your group dancing and drinking all night long. Here are some of our favorite party spots:

– Container Bar : This bar is a destination for a reason. Built out of old shipping containers, this enormous bar is visually stunning and guarantees a good time.

– Unbarleivable – It’s a circus-themed bar with a slide and colorful cocktails. Need we say more?

– Star Bar – a few steps away from “Dirty Sixth”, this West Sixth bar has delicious frozen drinks and a floor lined with astroturf. It’s quirky, it’s fun, it’s VERY Austin.

– The Blind Pig – This delightful dive is the place to go for live music, dancing, and rooftop patio (if you need some fresh air after crushing it on the dancefloor).

– Cheer Up Charlies – A gay bay with goofy cocktails and one of the best patios in Texas, it really will cheer you up!

– White Horse – Strap on your boots and head to this fun country bar. This is the best honky-tonk in town!

– The Elephant Room – For a more refined night out, head to this cool underground bar that has live jazz every night and an atmosphere that will make you feel like you’ve traveled back in time.

WHERE TO STAY:

austin texas bachelorette trip

There are so many gorgeous places to stay in Austin, and so many cool, hip, stunning neighborhoods. Check out South Congress, Travis Heights, Clarkville, or Lake Travis for places that have made other bachelorette party groups VERY happy. Here are some of the best hotels for bachelorette parties, offering a range of “vibes”. Find yours!:

– South Congress Hotel : This boutique hotel has a stunning design and a rooftop pool. This hotel is for the fashionable, artistic, design-focused bride looking for a luxe experience. It is in one of the hippest neighborhoods in Austin, so you’ll be steps away from incredible shopping, restaurants, and bars.

– The Line Hotel : The Line offers bachelorette party packages and an epic pool you’re encouraged to bring your own floaty to. It has restaurants, bars, gorgeous city views, and a dancefloor with groovy DJs.This hotel is for the contemporary, sleek, bougie bride.

– Hotel Saint Cecilia : Created in honor of the patron saint of music and poetry, the Saint Cecilia takes inspiration from the great era of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. It’s colorful, it’s cool, and it’s very Instagrammable. This hotel is for the eclectic, rock n’ roll bride with an old soul.

– Native Hostel : This bumpin’ hostel with a prime location has quickly become a favorite among tourists, locals, and of course, bachelorettes. And here, your group doesn’t have to go to separate rooms. Book their ‘Romper Room’ that sleeps up to 20 partiers. This hostel is for the free-spirited, earthy, social butterfly bride.

-AirBnb: A great alternative to hotels, AirBnb allows you to rent large homes so that your crew can spread out and have their very own party headquarters. Austin has AirBnbs of all sizes and styles available. Some of them are true works of art. Bonus: a lot of the AirBnbs in Austin come with pools, so bring a floaty shaped like an engagement ring and get ready to splash!

Pro-Tip: AirBnbs can serve as a great gathering place for large groups. Get the crew together for bride-focused games, and save money by cooking at the house one night. The house can also be a nice place for people to rest and reset before the next “weird” Austin activity.

UNIQUE-TO-AUSTIN MUST-SEES:

austin texas bachelorette trip

-’i love you so much’ Mural: This mural, which is simple in its message and design, has become iconic to Austin.  While in Austin, you and your Bride Tribe must get a photo with the sign. Show the world just how much you love each other. Find it in the South Congress neighborhood on the exterior wall of Jo’s coffee shop. The area is flooded with fabulous shops and restaurants so you can keep exploring after you pose.

Bonus Backstory: Curious about how the mural came to be? The owners of Jo’s Coffee Shop, who are a lesbian couple, got into a big fight one night and broke up. One of them wrote ‘i love you so much’ on the wall so that the other one would see it when she opened the shop the next day. They’ve been together ever since and whenever they repaint the wall, they rewrite the love message.

-Bats: Many people may not think of bats when they think of Austin, but it is home to the largest urban bat colony in the world! Over 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats roost in Downtown Austin, under the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge. Your crew won’t want to miss the awe-inspiring sight of the bats flying out from under the bridge at dusk. Pack a picnic and sit on the nearby lawn, or stand on the bridge to see the spooky, stunning flight close-up.

WHAT TO PACK:

austin texas bachelorette trip

The eternal question: What do I wear? What do I pack? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

-Swimsuit and Coverup (matching optional): Whether you’re going to a lake or a pool, a swimsuit is essential on a trip to Austin. There’s many websites that make matching suits or even bach-themed options, make sure the bride stands out no matter where you go.

-Comfy Walking Shoes: Save the heels for when the sun sets, you’re gonna be doing a lot of exploring during the day.

-Cute “Going Out” Outfit: Pack a dress or jumpsuit that makes you look and feel GREAT when you hit the town.

-Cute Daytime Outfit: Austin has a casual vibe, so throw on a floral sundress or cut-off jean shorts when you’re wandering during the day.

-Matching Shirts/Accessories/Other Bride Swag: Get the bride tribe to match or coordinate for some extra cuteness.

-Polaroid Camera: Capture the Austin fun in a tangible way – bring a Polaroid or Instax camera and let the group take home their favorite shots.

-Recovery Kit: Make the I-Do crew feel a little better after a wild night. Include Advil, Gatorade, Emergen-C, and Pepto Bismol.

-Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses: Protect yourself from that Texas sun!

-Decorations: Make the bride feel extra special by decorating her hotel room or the AirBnb.

-Optional Penis Paraphernalia: Because it’s a bachelorette party! Did you know they make delicious penis pasta?

You now have all the tools you need to plan an epic, unforgettable Bachelorette Party in Austin. Now get out there, celebrate the bride-to-be, and don’t forget to “Keep Austin Weird”!

The Ultimate Austin Bachelorette Party Guide

Here it is. The ultimate Austin Bachelorette Guide.

There are many bachelorette party destinations around the world, but since you’re reading this, that means you’ve probably picked Austin Texas. Yee Haw! We love Austin, and it’s the perfect spot for an incredible bachelorette party experience.

It’s no wonder why so many brides-to-be spend their last big single weekend in Austin with their closest friends! With amazing bars, restaurants, and things to do in the city, coupled with the charm that comes along with its live music scene, you can rest assured that your bachelorette party in Austin will be one to remember.

Read on for some essential info on how to plan the ultimate bachelorette party in Austin!

Getting out on the water is one of the most popular activities in Austin. If you’re looking for a great daytime activity, you can rent different types of boats to go down the river or out on the lake.

We definitely recommend a party boat when going to Lake Austin or Lake Travis, and Party Cove is where it’s at. If you have a large group, you can rent a full barge! Or if you’re looking for something a little different, you can float the San Marcos or New Braunfels River on a tube. Stock your coolers and bring some water, as this is a marathon, not a sprint. Throw in some jello shots and you’ve got yourself a killer day.

If you’re looking for something a bit more low-key, you can rent a paddleboard or canoe and paddle around Lady Bird Lake, right next to downtown. Regardless of where you end up, when you’re floating with all of your friends, you know it’s going to be a good time!

Eat Some BBQ

Austin is home to some of the best BBQ in the country. If you’re in town for a bachelorette party, there are plenty of places to get your fill of brisket, ribs and all the fixins. Definitely check out la Barbecue , Valentina’s , Franklin Barbecue , Micklethwait , Salt Lick BBQ , or Terry Black’s .

Plan a House Party

When you think Texas, you think cowboys. But let’s be honest, there aren’t too many cowboys walking around downtown Austin. Luckily, there’s one company that brings them to you! Meet the Cocktail CowBoys – expert party hosts and country butlers. Think sexy cowboy, but without the creepiness and X-rated activities. These CowBoys will make and serve drinks, help with party games, keep the party area clean, bring the vibes as Spotify DJs, and take and pose in pictures. It’s a perfect addition to a night in, a game night, pregame, brunch, or pool party. But even if you don’t hire the CowBoys, be sure to plan some downtime at home.

Relax At Barton Springs Pool

If you’re looking for a place to soak up some sun, Barton Springs Pool is where it’s at. Located in Zilker Park, this natural pool was formed by the springs that run under the city of Austin. One of the most popular summertime activities for locals, Barton Springs Pool offers a refreshing respite from the Texas heat.

Experience the Nightlife

For nightlife, Sixth Street is a great place to start. There are plenty of bars and restaurants with fun atmospheres that you’ll want to explore and enjoy. Whether you’re on West 6th, Dirty 6th, or East 6th, you’ll find a bar that fits your group’s vibe. If you’re looking for something slightly more low-key, head over to Rainey Street. This area is full of houses converted into small bars that have a good atmosphere, day or night. For more info on nightlife, check out our blog on must-do activities in Austin.

Hit up the Restaurants

Austin’s restaurant is vibrant and diverse. From southern Tex-Mex to high class bistros, you’ll find a wide variety of delicious cuisine in the city. If you’re looking for a hip, trendy spot with some delicious Mexican food, Fonda San Miguel is your best bet. It has an awesome atmosphere any day of the week. There are tons of other food options for brunch, dinner, and everything in between. Just make sure to call and ask if they can accommodate groups.

Visit South Congress

South Congress is a great place for a daytime or nighttime stroll with your girl gang. There are a handful of cute brunch spots and plenty of hip shops with great Texas-themed clothes and decor. If you’re there at night, stop in The Continental Club , one of Austin’s most historic music venues.

How To Plan The Perfect Bachelorette Party In Austin

You’ve picked a weekend, invited your bride squad, and found the perfect city (AUSTIN!) for your bachelorette party… now it’s time to plan all the details! Doing an Austin bachelorette party is an exceptional choice (slow clap for ya!) for many reasons: it’s warm (almost) year-round , has a ton of great bars and restaurants , and it’s the live music capital of the world . Entertainment for DAYSSS.

It's not quite as crazy as something like Miami, but it's also a great spot for dancing and all sorts of bach party shenanigans. You’re going to make the best memories with your girlfriends doing your bachelorette party in Austin!

bachelorette party downtown austin

But since it’s one of the most popular bachelorette party cities in the country, the bride-to-be might be overwhelmed with options. There are a million Austin bachelorette guides and weekend itineraries out there, and I get it…it can be a bit paralyzing to be faced with that many choices.

So I’ll keep things simple and offer a few incredible and popular bachelorette party ideas in each category, as well as a few backup options in case you’re the type of person who wants more ideas, not fewer ideas.

Bulevar

Choosing Austin as your bachelorette party destination is easy! Narrowing down your restaurant and activity options? That’s a bit harder… However, I'm going to share this incredibly simple and effective guide to how to plan a bachelorette party in Austin to keep things easy for you. Ok? Ok!

Note : you can’t possibly see everything there is to see in Austin in a single bachelorette weekend trip. (I mean, I’ve been here for more than 10 years and I still keep finding new things to do!) My advice is to choose just a few options that look great, soak up all the good times, and if you love this city plan another trip back soon!

butterfly bridge austin

I’m Kelsey! I’m a Texas native and I’ve been in Austin for more than a decade. I went to school at UT and I know this city inside and out.

bachelorette party Austin-76

I’m the creator of this Austin travel website you're reading , as well as my Austin lifestyle blog and a San Antonio travel site . I love scoping out cute hotels, charming cocktail bars, fun activities, and award-winning restaurants in my hometown of Austin, Texas!

I hope you find this guide thorough yet not too overwhelming. I had to find the balance between giving you all the details you need while also not spamming you with all the Austin info I keep inside my brain! If you want more ideas, you might want to check out my guides to the best music venues in Austin , where to eat in downtown Austin , great brunch spots in Austin , the best wine bars in Austin , and the best swimming holes in Austin .

How To Plan The Perfect Austin Bachelorette Party

Step 1: where to stay in austin for your bachelorette party.

I’m going to make this really simple, because there are really only 3 parts of Austin you should consider for an epic bachelorette bash in ATX:

south congress

Option 1: South Congress/Travis Heights

South Congress (or “SOCO”) is a major shopping and entertainment destination just south of downtown. It’s where you’ll find those famous Austin bats , a bunch of well-known South Congress restaurants , and tons of shopping.

One of my favorite parts about SOCO is that it’s a street that’s surrounded by neighborhoods, so you can easily find a VRBO home rental nearby. I’d look close to SOCO or South First street for a house rental so you can walk to nearby coffee shops, taco trucks, wine bars, restaurants, and music venues.

The neighborhoods that you’ll be looking at for the areas near SOCO are called Travis Heights and Bouldin Creek. Aim to stay on the north side of Oltorf to get the most walkable experience. The closer to downtown Austin, the better!

holiday bar East Austin

Option 2: East Austin

East Austin is a whole VIBE!  It's the "weird" in our "keep Austin weird" slogan.  It's full of exceptional places to eat, so if you're a foodie, you very well might want to stay in east ATX. It's also home to some lovely hotels with pools, some cute east Austin coffee shops , and the very best BBQ in Austin . It's a short Uber ride or a long walk to downtown Austin.

East Austin is the part of town on the eastern side of Interstate 35. While east Austin is a pretty vague boundary, you should look for a home rental somewhere between Cesar Chavez (on the south border) and 11th Street (on the north border.) Again, the closer to downtown, the better.

how to plan the perfect bachelorette party in Austin

Option 3: Downtown Austin

I recommend downtown Austin for your bachelorette party, but only with these caveats: you plan to stay in a hotel instead of a house rental , and you care more about location than about authentic Austin vibes.

Don’t get me wrong - downtown Austin is a blast! And it’s home to plenty of authentic Austin venues and eateries (Stubb’s BBQ, ACL Live theater, Lady Bird Lake). But in the last few years, as high rises have been rising higher and more nationally-owned restaurants are opening, it feels a bit more corporate (maybe Dallas lite?) and less like the old Austin we all knew and loved.

However, it’s super close to 6th Street, Lady Bird Lake, tons of exceptional hotels, and a bunch of great places to eat and drink. It’s also a very short rideshare from pretty much anything you might want to do during your bachelorette party, so downtown Austin is very convenient!

Austin hotel

Should You Stay In A Hotel Or House For Your Austin Bachelorette Party?

I mean, I always think houses are more fun for bachelorette parties. Everyone has a common living/kitchen space to gather in the morning over coffee, and you can decorate the place with banners and kitschy decor for the bride. It’s just easier than getting a bunch of separate hotel rooms.

However,  Austin hotels have their perks!  Many of them have gorgeous rooftop pools , and those create great gathering places for the squad. I personal love the South Congress Hotel for its incredible restaurants and rooftop pool, the swanky JW Marriott in downtown Austin, and the Austin Proper , a gorgeous high-rise that basically looks like an Anthropologie catalog. Swoon!

Also, some bachelorette parties prefer to have more privacy instead of being together 24/7 for the bachelorette weekend.

Sorry I can't help you more, but this one comes down to personal preference. I will say that Austin is a major bachelorette party destination, so you can easily find lots of rental properties with pools, hot tubs, bistro lights on the patio, and lots of beds to fit the entire party.

A (Quick) Glossary of Austin’s Main Areas

I’ve lived here a while, so it’s all second nature to me! But if you’re unfamiliar with Austin, here’s a local’s guide to the main parts of town you should know about before you start booking bachelorette party activities:

sixth street

Dirty Sixth // the bar-studded area of 6th street in downtown Austin. It stretches from I35 and goes east all the way to the Driskill Hotel . On the weekends they shut it down to cars so it’s just a bunch of drunk, happy pedestrians!

Downtown Austin // downtown Austin is a very liveable place! It’s where you’ll find the original flagship Whole Foods Market, a bunch of cocktail bars and restaurants, and live music venues in the “Red River District.” It’s home to 6th Street (lovingly referred to as “dirty 6th” because it’s where you go to get drunk and college kids love it),  Rainey Street (a popular bar street here in Austin) , the historic Driskill Hotel, the Waterloo Amphitheater (the best outdoor music venue in Austin!)

East Austin // Now, “ East Austin” obviously encompasses a huge area, but for this bachelorette guide to Austin, we’re using that term to include the part of East Austin that’s closest to I35. This is a cute, quirky area of boutique stores, murals, fun hotels, and a ton (I mean a TON!) of coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, and bars. East Austin is a very popular place to live and play in Austin.

Austin texas

Lady Bird Lake // this is technically part of the Colorado River, but it’s been dammed up to create a lake that’s directly south of downtown. (Some downtown hotels even overlook the water!) It has a walking/jogging trail around it with 1, 2, 5, and 10-mile loops, and you can go kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding in the lake, too.

Lake Austin // Lake Austin isn’t the same thing as Lady Bird Lake! While they’re both sections of the Colorado River, Lady Bird Lake is adjacent to downtown, and Lake Austin is a long, winding portion to the west of downtown. You can’t go boating in Lady Bird Lake (just kayaking) but you can rent speed boats and pontoons in Lake Austin.

Rainey Street // technically it’s a part of downtown, but Rainey Street is on the border between downtown Austin and east Austin. About a decade ago it was a really cool street with a bunch of historic bungalows that had all been converted into unique bars. Investors keep coming in, tearing down the bungalows, and building high rises, so a lot of the character has been lost. Now it’s home to expensive drinks and big crowds, but if you want nightlife in Austin, there are lots of bars here!

South Congress (SOCO) // This street is a must-visit for your first time in Austin! It’s packed with shops, patio restaurants, hotel pools, murals, and bars. There are still a few of the unique Austin boutiques on SOCO, but there are also lots of mainstream and luxury shopping brands like Everlane, Lululemon, and Hermés.

Zilker Park // Zilker Park is very famous in Austin because it’s the 351-acre park that holds the Austin City Limits Music Festival every October. Folks gather here to play frisbee, eat picnics, and let the dogs run around. Oh, and it’s also where you’ll find Barton Springs Pool . Zilker Park is a short Uber ride from downtown Austin.

Step 2: Getting from the Austin airport to your hotel/airbnb

You’re in luck here! Unlike other international airports that are an hour drive from the city, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is only about 7 miles from downtown Austin.

ABIA

If you’re really pinching pennies you could take the CapMetro bus line, but I just recommend getting an Uber or a Lyft to your hotel or rental house.

Pro tip: if you’re waiting at the airport for a big group to arrive before you Uber together, go ahead and get a drink and a bite to eat! The Austin airport is famous for its local restaurants and local craft beer and wine. Here’s a guide to the food at the Austin airport.

Step 3: Plan Things To Do In Austin For Your Bachelorette Party

Once you've selected a house rental or a hotel, this is the bulk of the planning...so you're nearly there! Most Austin activities are in a very small area where you can walk or uber easily (downtown, Rainey, SOCO, East Austin.) Of course, there are a few Austin activities that are a longer drive away (Mount Bonnell, visiting wineries in the Texas Hill Country, boating on Lake Travis) you could easily fill your bachelorette weekend in Austin with activities near your house. More efficient that way!

I recommend planning one big and one small activity each day and filling in the rest with food/relaxation.

Example 1: big activity (a day of boating) +  with small activity (bachelorette yoga at your vacation rental) + food (BBQ, a cute coffee shop, breakfast tacos)

Example 2: big activity (a night of bar hopping) + small activity (Juiceland smoothies and kayaking on the lake in the morning) + food (nice dinner out, food truck for lunch)

See Live Music

You’re in the live music capital of the world , after all! Getting tickets to a live show in Austin is a great way to spend one of your bachelorette party nights.

There are some great concert venues in Austin , but here are a few cool venues worth checking out for your bachelorette party:

Mohawk Austin

Mohawk // Located in Austin’s Red River District, Mohawk is a multi-level space so you can watch your favorite band from the ground level or up above the stage. It’s a pretty small space, making it a great venue to get loud and rowdy and have a great time with your bachelorette group. |WEBSITE| 912 Red River St, Austin TX 78701

moody amphitheater

Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Greenway // This new amphitheater in downtown Austin has a view of the Texas State Capitol building! It seats 5,000 people, so some pretty big names come through. Those grassy lawn seats are a great place to gather with your bachelorette party with a few glasses of wine under the ATX sky. | WEBSITE | 1401 Trinity St, Austin, TX 78701

Stubbs BBQ // a classic concert venue in downtown Austin, and the best part? You can pair a pre-concert bbq meal with your concert! The outdoor venue is so much fun. | WEBSITE | 801 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701

continental club

The Continental Club // an iconic music club on SOCO and one of the most well-known venues in Austin. It’s a small, intimate venue and definitely a bucket list item in Austin. | WEBSITE | 1315 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

ACL Live

ACL Live at the Moody Theater // Not to be confused with the Moody Amphitheater previously mentioned, the Moody Theater is a 2750-seat indoor theater in downtown Austin at the base of the W Hotel. It’s where ACL Live is recorded, the longest-running music series on American television. But you can also catch other shows here. It’s close to tons of great restaurants for pre-show dinner or post-show drinks! | WEBSITE | 310 W Willie Nelson Blvd, Austin, TX 78701

Historic Scoot Inn // One of the coolest music venues in east Austin, Historic Scoot Inn is always a good time! Originally opened in 1857 and the home of Austin’s 4th-oldest liquor license, this outdoor music venue is a great place for some Austin beer and some good tunes. |WEBSITE| 1308 E 4th St, Austin, TX 78702

Rent A Boat For A Day On The Water

There are soooo many boating companies in Austin that provide a boat, a driver, and a cooler. I’ve personally boated with Float On and I love them, but feel free to just do a google search and find the best one for you.

boating on lake austin

A note about boating in Austin: there are two options for boat rentals, and lots of boating companies offer both to you.

360 bridge lake austin

Option 1: Lake Austin // You can go boating in Lake Austin, which is a part of the Colorado River that snakes through west Austin. This is a fun option because you get to see all the waterfront mansions and go under the famous 360 Pennybacker Bridge, which makes for a great photo op.

lake travis

Option 2: Lake Travis // And then there’s Lake Travis, a larger dammed-up portion of the Colorado River that’s about 35 minutes west of Austin. It’s a more traditional lake feel, but it’s also a longer Uber drive.

>> For a bachelorette party in Austin, I recommend boating in Lake Austin. <<

Go Bar Hopping in Austin

Any Austin bachelorette weekend needs a night out on the town! The bar scene in Austin is pretty simple. Here’s a quick guide to the best bars for bachelorette parties in Austin.

You’ll hear every tourist mention this, because it’s the most famous bar scene in Austin. Note that most famous does NOT equate to the “best” bar scene! But it’s pretty famous.

Every UT student has been out on Dirty Sixth at least once. And if you and your bachelorette party decide to venture out, expect to see between 10-15 other bachelor and bachelorette parties out, too.

The bars are a bit grungy and there are employees in the front of the bars trying to get groups of girls to come in (better for their business!) so they’ll probably offer you a free drink if you’re willing to stop by. There are a few worthwhile spots on Dirty Sixth ( Midnight Cowboy is a legendary reservations-only speakeasy with exceptional cocktails made tableside, Wanderlust Wine Co is a fun serve-yourself wine bar, Maggie Mae’s , a classic bar with a rooftop area, and The Backspace is one of the best pizza spots in Austin). But in general, Dirty Sixth is pretty grungy and it’s the type of place you go out for a WILD night to make a bunch of memories you may or may not actually remember…

Uptown Sports Club

This is the part of Sixth Street that’s on the east side of I35. In general, it’s a little bit more tasteful than Dirty Sixth and has a bit more of a “grown up” feel (versus the college feel of Dirty Sixth.”

There are some great bars in this area, including Uptown Sports Club , a New Oreleans-inspired eatery and cocktail bar from Franklin BBQ’s Aaron Franklin, Easy Tiger , a popular Austin outdoor beer garden with giant pretzels and yard games, and LoLo , a natural wine bar with an unpretentious feel and a big back patio. Of course, you can’t go wrong with Violet Crown Social Club , a famous bar and lounge on East Sixth.

Rainey Street

bangers austin

One of the most talked-about bar regions in Austin is Rainey Street! Locals hate it because it “used to be cool” and visitors love it because it’s a really dense area where you can literally walk from bar to bar.

While lots of the original bungalow houses that were bars have been torn down to make space for high rises, there are still a few legit places to check out on Rainey. Bangers Sausage House and Beer Garden has 200+ beers on tap, 20+ housemade sausages, and two separate bars. Clive Bar is a cute and casual spot that often has live music. And if you want something swanky, Tipsy Alchemist is a rooftop bar with the most inventive cocktails you’ve ever seen!

Note that drinks on Rainey Street are hella expensive. Like, even a vodka soda is going to be overpriced. You’re going here for the experience!

west sixth Austin

This is where it gets confusing, because if “East Sixth” is the part of Sixth Street on the east side of I35, you might think that “West Sixth” is on the west side. Well, directly west of I35 is “Dirty Sixth”, and if you want to go to the bar district of West Sixth you have to go all the way west of Guadalupe.

This area definitely has a party vibe, but it’s not quite as grungy as Dirty Sixth. It’s a great option for a bachelorette party!

Devil May Care is a moody lounge with live jazz music, and Star Bar is a really good “classic bar” with some great food trucks parked outside. https://littlewoodrows.com/locations/austin-west-6th/ has more of a sports bar feel, and it’s also home to a OneTaco truck, some of the best tacos in the city! And there are plenty of other bars in the area that you can easily reach on foot.

Lounge At An Austin Swimming Hole

barton springs pool

There are some fantastic swimming holes in and around Austin, but by far the most famous one is Barton Springs Pool . It's a 3-acre pool that's fed from an underground spring and remains 68-70 degrees year-round! And since it's located at Zilker Park, it's easy to reach.

You could also check out Deep Eddy Pool , another pool that's spring-fed and closer to downtown. It's not quite as iconic as Barton Springs, but it's just as cool and refreshing 68 degrees, has a paved cement floor (instead of a dirt/plant floor like Barton Springs) and offers a beach-entrance instead of a rocky entrance (less likely for slips and falls!).

Or Lounge At An Austin Hotel Pool

rooftop pool

Even if you're not staying at a hotel, many Austin rooftop pools offer full- or half-day passes . There are some beautiful hotel pools in Austin! Some of my favorites are the South Congress Hotel Pool (it's small and cute and offers an overhead view of South Congress, plus the food is amazing), the Thompson Hotel Pool (it's adjacent to their rooftop restaurant so you can order food + booze with a view of downtown), and the LINE Hotel pool (it's an infinity pool overlooking Lady Bird Lake, and there's a Veracruz All Natural taco walk-up window by the pool.) Or you can check out my guide to some of the best rooftop pools in Austin .

Wander The YARD At St Elmo

The Yard

Psst: this is an under-the-radar Bachelorette party idea in Austin...not enough people know about this! While everyone else is partying on Rainey or Sixth St, you can go where the locals go and hang out at The YARD.

It's a mixed-use development that's about 4 miles south of South Congress. The YARD is home to two breweries, a winery, a sake bar, the first whiskey distillery in Austin City Limits since prohibition, a coffee shop, a cocktail manufacturer, and a bunch of great food trucks. You could easily spend a half day just wandering up and down and visiting the different bars!

Psst: make reservations for a tour at Still Austin Distillery , and make sure you get one of those fried chicken sandwiches at Spicy Boys Food Truck , parked at St Elmo Brewery.

Do All The Bachelorette Things!

From renting a tour bus to go on a Hill Country Winery to hiring those handsome Cocktail Cowboys to mix drinks for you and wait hand-and-foot on the bride-to-be, there are plenty of classic bach party things to do in Austin.

Be sure to get your matching hats and a sash for the bride, plan plenty of themed decor and straws and banners to have in your house rental, and get ready for lots of pictures!

Step 4: Where To Eat In Austin For Your Bachelorette Party

Processed with VSCO with g6 preset

It goes without saying that there are two types of food you can’t miss: bbq and tacos. I recommend going to one really good BBQ spot during the weekend and one really good Tex Mex restaurant, and then filling in the rest of the weekend with some coffee shops, bars, food trucks, a big Sunday morning brunch, and maybe some healthy stuff.

BBQ In Austin For Your Bachelorette Party

Leroy and lewis

LeRoy and Lewis // My top pick for BBQ at your bachelorette party because it's a food truck parked at Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden! Franklin bbq

Franklin BBQ // From James Beard Award-winning chef Aaron Franklin, Franklin BBQ is synonymous with Texas barbecue culture. The line is ALWAYS wrapped around the building and they always sell out, so if you want to stand in line here it will be a half-day event. (Bring chairs and coolers and make a day out of it!) Alternatively, you can order up to 42 days in advance for a minimum of 5 pounds of meat.   | WEBSITE | 900 E 11th St, Austin, TX 78702

Tex Mex In Austin For Your Bachelorette Party

polvos austin

Polvos // Home of the best flour tortillas in Austin, epic pitchers of margaritas, and a pretty casual vibe, Polvos is a very popular spot for bachelorette parties in Austin to get their spicy margs and beef fajita fix. Psst: my very top pick for a delicious Tex Mex breakfast!!   | WEBSITE | 2004 S 1st St, Austin, TX 78704

la condessa

grizzeldas

Grizzeldas // Amazing food with feminine/pink energy, Grizzelda's in East Austin is my go-to for spicy margs, queso fundido, and sizzling fajitas with girlfriends.  Oh, and their happy hour is excellent if you're able to eat early on a Friday night. $7 cocktails anyone? | WEBSITE | 105 Tillery St, Austin, TX 78702

hillside farmacy

Hillside Farmacy // There's a theme in Austin with renovating old buildings into brunch spots...and Hillside Pharmacy is no exception! This historic pharmacy in East Austin is now one of the most popular brunch destinations in Austin for locally sourced food and brunch cocktails. Their buttermilk pancakes with Mexican Vanilla are so good!   | WEBSITE | 1209 E 11th St, Austin, TX 78702

Joanns fine food

Joann's Fine Foods // If you want a retro/Tex-Mex feel for brunch, you can't beat Joann's on South Congress. It's from the same restaurant group as Josephine House, and the food is just as dependable and perfect. Their chilaquiles and fresh-squeezed juice are amazing.    | WEBSITE | 1224 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

East Austin Restaurants

Gabriella's Downtown // From the same restaurant group as Taquero Mucho (that all PINK restaurant!), Gabriella's has the same authentic Mexican cuisine, giant cocktails, and fun vibes. Their brunch is very popular and they don't take reservations, so you might want to try to get there early. Also, they have a south location down on Slaughter Lane and it's a much bigger restaurant. If you're set on this place, you could try that location, too. | WEBSITE | 900 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702

Best Coffee Shops In Austin For Your Bachelorette Party

Better Half Coffee & Cocktails // Better Half is not only one of the best coffee shops in Austin, but it's also one of the best breakfast spots. They make phenomenal pastries and desserts, but they also have some healthier breakfast stuff like a granola bowl made with local Greek yogurt. | WEBSITE | 406 Walsh St, Austin, TX 78703

Must-Try Austin Restaurants For Your Bachelorette Party

Of course, go ahead and reference the BBQ and Tex-Mex options above. I really do recommend choosing one from each of those when you're planning your weekend! But if you end up doing those for lunches, or you have an extra long weekend in Austin planned, here are a few other exceptional restaurants in Austin for you to consider:

Veracruz All Natural // their migas taco was featured on Food Network as one of the best tacos in America, and this mini-chain now has locations all over Austin. The walk-up window near the Congress Bridge and the food truck at Radio Coffee & Beer Garden are my two favorites. | WEBSITE | 2505 Webberville Rd, Austin, TX 78702

suerte austin

Suerte // Nationally-renowned Mexican restaurant with (no joke) some of the best corn tortillas you're ever going to try in your life. They go through the painstaking process of nixtamalization to get that soft texture and vibrant flavor. The tequila/mezcal selection here is amazing and all the plates are made for sharing, so it's a fun spot for a group. | WEBSITE | 1800 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78702

Maie Day // Located in the South Congress Hotel, this Austin chop house is from the same people behind James Beard Award-winning restaurant Olamaie. The steaks are locally sourced, the sides are phenomenal, and the energy is bright and fun! Psst: they might have the best chocolate cake in the entire city of Austin. | WEBSITE | 1603 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 7870

Emmer & Rye // Farm-to-table, nose-to-tale, root-to-tip, with an emphasis on ancient heirloom grains...to say that a lot of thought goes into their food sourcing and menu production is an understatement. And that's probably why Emmer & Rye has racked up so many awards, including Bon Appetit's best new restaurants in America right when they opened. If you want one really nice, upscale dinner out, you simply can't beat Emmer & Rye. | WEBSITE | SkyHouse, 51 Rainey St UNIT 110, Austin, TX 78701

homeslice pizza

Homeslice Pizza // Of course, sometimes you just want something easy and casual, and Homeslice on South Congress is perfect for that. These NY-style pies and subs are, quite frankly, delicious. Local tip: everyone gets the pizzas, which are delicious, but have you tried their Italian Sub? That warm, chewy, homemade bread might just change your life... | WEBSITE | 1415 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

Bouldin Creek Cafe // If you want the most "Austin-y" vibes around, go to the vegetarian restaurant Bouldin Creek Cafe. No frills, just a classic restaurant that's been around forever and is beloved by locals. Their omelet with chipotle pecan pesto is incredible. | WEBSITE | 1900 S 1st St, Austin, TX 78704

Step 5: Add Some Outdoor Activities and Exercise For Your Bachelorette Party

healthy austin

Late-night drinking and carb-heavy brunches are fun, but eventually, your body starts to crave some movement and a smoothie or something. Here are the best ways to incorporate outdoor activities into your Austin bachelorette weekend!

Austin Bachelorette Yoga // This company will come to your vacation rental! You just pay per mat, so anyone who wants to join the class can do so. They even have a cute "bride" towel as part of their package.

Walk around Lady Bird Lake // No reservations are required! Enjoy the Austin energy and get in your steps with a walk on the Hike & Bike Trail. I love to get a smoothie at Juiceland on Lake Austin Boulevard before starting my walk.

Paddle Board or kayak // There are plenty of kayak rental companies around the perimeter of Lady Bird Lake, so just find the one closest to you for a 1- or 2-hour rental out on the water. (I've used The Rowing Dock recently and liked them, but there are lots of options.)

Eat at Picnik Austin // Not an activity per se, but it's something healthy to fit into your weekend! Picnik is 100% gluten-free and peans-free and inclusive of all lifestyles (vegan, paleo, GF, etc.) Their food is vibrant healthy and delicious and it's a great way to hit "reset" after a night out of drinking in Austin.

Things you need to remember to pack for your Austin bachelorette party

I'm sure you're set on packing the normal bachelorette party things, but here are a few extra recommendations for throwing a bachelorette party in Austin:

LAYERS // Austin is pretty warm year-round, but in the winter we occasionally get really cold mornings/nights followed by warm afternoons. I love the cute dress + jean jacket look for those days, but if you're visiting in the winter just be sure to pack winters.

COMFY SHOES // Certain parts of Austin are very walkable! For instance, if you're wandering SOCO in the afternoon, you'll probably log a few miles. Bring some cute sneaks or comfy sandals.

HATS AND SUNSCREEN // It goes without saying that Austin is hella hot in the summer. So unless you're superhuman and can withstand 105 degrees without shade and sunscreen, plan accordingly. Oh, and try to do Barton Springs or outdoor stuff first thing in the morning and then stay indoors in the afternoon.

Fun things to do in Austin for a Bachelorette Party:

A lake day on lake travis or lake austin.

It’s impossible to beat a day on the Lake in the Austin heat. If you’re looking for Lake Austin boat rentals or Lake Travis Boat Rentals – Float On is the #1 rated boat rental company in Austin and through them you can rent a boat or pontoon for the day for $4-500 for 3 hours for your group (or add on additional hours if you want)! I’d highly recommend doing a boat day for any bachelorette party in Austin as it is sure to be a highlight of the weekend (especially in the summer, when it’s HOT and you’ll be craving a day on the water)

Pedalbiking bar hop with Hipside Peddler

Doing a pedalbike or ‘ pedal pub ‘ bar hop with Hipside Peddler was easily the highlight of the last bachelorette party weekend I did in Austin! It was around $40 per person for a 3 hour ride and we had SO much fun! Basically, you casually pedal on the bike, while dancing and screaming your heart out to music on the loudspeakers as the guide takes you to a few different bars throughout Austin. You can even BYOB on the bike for in-between bars. We went to a couple really cool breweries and bars and had SO much fun on the bike, while getting to see a ton of the city. PLUS you feel active and like you’re getting a workout while day-drinking!

Highly recommend Hipside Peddler for a daytime activity with any group going to Austin, but especially a bachelorette party!

Take an Austin brunch tour with Twisted Texas Food Tour

It’s no secret that brunch is Austin’s favorite meal of the day. And a brunch party with a live band taking you to three different brunch hot spots? Talk about the best way to start your day. The best part? It’s BYOB, so pack your mimosas and grab your girls – this Austin food tour is sure to be a highlight of your bachelorette squad’s weekend. Not into brunch? They also do a  Brew Bus  and a  Live Music Experience  tour that takes you to three different breweries/live music venues instead of restaurants.

Paddle-boarding in Ladybird Lake

Ladybird Lake is a beautiful dammed-off stretch of the Colorado River that makes for an ideal day on the water right in central Austin. And, since no motorized boats are allowed on the lake, it’s ideal for paddleboarding and kayaking! If you’re with an active group or want to start your day off with a workout, I love going to Ladybird Lake.

Shopping on South Congress

Walking and shopping on South Congress is one of my favorite things to do in Austin. You can stop by instagram spots like the “I love you so much” wall and the Austin Motel, or pop into the many boutiques lining the street.

Austin bachelorette parties are becoming all the rage. Texas Tipsy Tours have come up with the best Austin Bachelorette Party Itineraries. These itineraries are based on both parties and experience we have personally had and planned, as well as from groups we have hosted.

At Texas Tipsy Tours, the celebration is our game- and we love planning bachelorette party tours! See our Bachelorette Party Tour for our recommended bachelorette party itinerary.

Looking to stay in Fredericksburg instead? See our Fredericksburg Bachelorette Party Guide.

Why is Austin the Ultimate Bachelorette Party Destination?

Austin is bursting with trendy restaurants and bars, outdoor activities, a bustling nightlife- and it’s’ the live music capital! Austin truly offers something for everyone. Plus, it is a short drive away from the Texas Hill Country, featuring a growing Texas wine industry, Texas beer industry, as well as Texas spirits!

See our East Austin Guide for the trendiest restaurants and bars, plus local breweries.

What is the Best Time to Visit Austin?

Being in Texas- the climate is relatively warm all year round, and especially hot in the late summer months. Peak season is September through November and March through May.

In July and August, we have days over 100 degrees and you will want to seek refuge in the water- and Austin has lots of it! Check out our Private River Trips.

The remainder of the year is often very pleasant, with a very mild winter. In Austin, the weather can change by the minute, so we recommend layers!

Expect rises in pricing and lots of crowds during the following weekends:

  • March-  South by Southwest Music Festival
  • August-  Bat Fest
  • October-  Austin City Limits
  • October-  Formula 1
  • Fall Season-  University of Texas Football

A Letter From the Owner

Thanks so much for taking the time to read thru all of this, we really appreciate it!

I wanted to give a little background on the business, and to explain how much we really care about your experience during your Austin bachelorette weekend.

We’ve been operating for the past 14 years, starting with one boat that we built with our bare hands when I was 23, after I quit my engineering job.

Don’t worry, I’m way smarter than I look  <<

We now have 4 party boats on Lake Travis just outside of Austin and host over 1200 cruises a year, and we’ve had over 100,000 people come out and experience Lake Travis with us. So, we are REALLY good at all this. Please take a look at our reviews on Yelp and Google and you’ll see that I’m shootin’ ya straight 🙂

All of my party boat captains have been with me from the beginning of this crazy adventure, and every one of them is a solid, reliable, great guy that will be a gentleman and keep you and your party safe and happy throughout your whole experience.

Every one of our party cruise captains & crew is CPR certified, we have defibrillators on every party boat, inflatable life vests, extensive first aid, enough life jackets for the whole party, & lily pads available if you wanna treat yo self 🙂

We came up with the ATX Disco Cruise to create the MOST fun time we could imagine on beautiful Lake Travis, and we have fully accomplished that.  You can totally rent a private party boat for your day on Lake Travis, but I’d highly recommend you join the ATX Disco Cruise, you just can’t beat it.

Not only am I sure your time on the lake will be spectacular, but we’ll also help you plan the whole party cruise, and book out your whole weekend in Austin if you like!

We’re a one stop shop for fun in Austin, & we’re here if you need us!

I sincerely hope you’ll choose us for your big day on Lake Travis, we’d love to host you and your group and make sure y’all have the BEST bachelorette weekend in Austin!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly if you have any questions or concerns about the party cruise or how we can make your bachelorette weekend as amazing as possible: we’re standing by 🙂

ATX Disco Cruise Rules & Additional Info

Hello i want to give a quick run-thru of the atx disco cruise so that everyone knows what to expect leading up to the big day.

The Rules are Be Cool, Have Fun, & Stay Alive – Read: Don’t Be a Dick & Don’t Die! 😎

Men and women are expected to behave like adults, and be respectful of one another at all times. Any rude or disrespectful behavior will result in removal by the police (Read: Girls, We Gotchu…Guys, Behave).

We provide a private cooler for each group of girls with 3 fruit juices and a fresh fruit tray on ice. If you need more space, the large white coolers full of ice are for everyone to use.

The ATX Disco Cruises usually book up AT LEAST TWO MONTHS IN ADVANCE, so don’t wait too long to book! You can always add on someone later, so we recommend that you book with the group that is confirmed, and then you can add the others once they get it together 🙂

We’ll provide ice water, cups, koozies, bubbles, name tags, and everything you need (besides alcohol) for an amazing day on the water!

Our resident DJs are incredible every time, and our photographer will document the day so you don’t have to spend all day on your phone!

Please ONLY book this cruise if you like parties and having fun. We will not allow any wet blankets or sticks in the mud to board our boat.

Show up ready to have some fun and leave your ego on the shore, this is a happy place 🙂

If you’re hung over, suck it up and get through it, and don’t take it out on everyone else on the boat and kill the vibe…also frowned upon 😉

Giant lily pad floats are also included, and we’ll have a pump if you want to bring anything else festive to float on.

The party will go on, RAIN OR SHINE!! It’s key that you know this before you book! We will take care of you on that day no matter what! On all Saturday Disco Cruises, if it’s a stormy day, we’ll be hosting the Lemonade Disco – an amazing party at a lakeside waterpark called Beachside Billy’s! It’s a full waterpark, bar and restaurant, and if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll throw this party right down the street. We’ll have our DJs spinning all day, buy a bar tab, and even have a full fajita/BBQ buffet for the whole party! On top of that, there’s a beach volleyball court, dozens of pools, and plenty of covered space to dance the day away even if it’s raining! THEN, if the weather does let up, we’ll have the boats ready to go, and we’ll take everyone out on the lake and do the damn thang!

Bottom line, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure y’all have a great day with us. No amount of rain is taking down this bachelorette weekend 🙂 We gotchu :)))

austin texas bachelorette trip

This bohemian retreat is located in East Austin a few blocks away from Lady Bird Lake. Being close to the water is ideal for brides-to-be who enjoy the outdoors. You can book a boat tour along the lakeside, rent kayaks or paddle boards, or just lounge on the bank in the sunshine with cocktails. Although it’s close to the green space and is situated on a quiet street, this Airbnb has an incredibly central location with accessibility to downtown Austin, Rainey Street, and other popular Austin nightlife spots.

With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the Airbnbs can easily accommodate a group of six. The interior décor is both modern and fun with neat design details and a colorful blend of high-end textiles. The charming decked area frames the front and back of the property with a large furnished outdoor dining space to the rear.

Sprawling four-bedroom house near Zilker Park

austin texas bachelorette trip

Situated next to Zilker Park and two miles from Downtown, this four-bedroom Airbnb Plus has huge windows leading out to timber-clad balconies. Zilker Park is ideal for daytime sporting activities like disc golf and volleyball or you can take a dip at Barton Springs pool.

It’s three full bathrooms are a serious selling point, as is the pinball machine — for the competitive person in the group and backyard swimming pool. The yard is fenced off for your privacy and is perfect for an afternoon barbeque before heading out on town.

Eight guests, four bedrooms $651 per night

Central Austin retreat with a leafy patio with grill

austin texas bachelorette trip

This whopping mid-century home sleeps 10 guests and although there will be some bedroom sharing, the leafy patio area offers enough space for all to feel comfortable and utterly relaxed. The outdoor space is ideal for enjoying a sundowner or two and has grilling facilities.

It’s smack bang in Huntland Heights, Central Austin, and is a short walk from the Metro Rail which links with the center of downtown. If driving, there is private parking available for five cars and the street is quiet and safe. There are four bedrooms listed and a further sleeping spot on a queen sleeper sofa in the den, ideal for those to RSVP last minute.

10 guests, four bedrooms $468 per night

East Downtown house with large heated pool

austin texas bachelorette trip

So let’s address the elephant in the room. 15 guests in three bedrooms? You’d need to have a very tight crew for your bachelorette for this Airbnb but bunk beds save the day. And there’s something nostalgic about sleeping in a bunk bed with a bunch of your gal pals.

The summer camp vibes don’t finish there, outdoor adventures at Lady Bird Lake are minutes away and a bamboo-lined backyard with a heated private pool with multi-color LED lighting promises hours of entertainment and is a perfect spot for an afternoon Aperol Spritz.

15 guests, three bedrooms $436 per night

Three-story East Austin home packed with color and art

austin texas bachelorette trip

This three-floor condo’s open-concept layout is ideal for a bachelorette allowing for lots of space and places to have some quiet time — if needed. Unique features are peppered throughout the property; rich Moroccan floor cushions, a chalkboard wall in the downstairs bathroom, and a graffiti wall commissioned by a local Austin artist makes this an ideal Airbnb for brides-to-be who have an eye for design.

And the fun continues, the backyard has a hammock for naps, and an outdoor bar with ample seating. Located in East Austin, the house is within walking distance from Town Lake and the nightlife and bars on trendy Rainey Street. If you need more space, it’s worth reaching out to the owner as they rent out another equally special property next door.

Eight guests, three bedrooms $325 per night

East Downtown bungalow with stunning gourmet kitchen

austin texas bachelorette trip

An open-concept floor plan makes this bungalow another super option for a group. The gourmet kitchen steals the show with its centered kitchen island with bar stools, high-end stainless appliances, and ample space for more than one cook and a team of sous chefs.

Each bedroom has a king-sized bed, which means sharing with a friend, but there is ample room and down comforters, plush bath robes, large closets, and floor-length mirrors, add a nice touch. And for the bride-to-be, the master suite has a huge walk-in closet, an en-suite bathroom with luxury hotel standard towels and toiletries, and a double vanity. The house is within walking distance of a bus stop with a direct route downtown, but of course, ride-sharing in Austin is easy to use, quick, and affordable.

Seven guests, three bedrooms $300 per night

Three-bedroom house with rooftop patio

austin texas bachelorette trip

This three-bedroom house is located in East Austin and is within walking distance of many live music venues. But if you have a maestro in the group, there is a piano in the living room for use. The house is expansive, with soaring ceilings, a huge ten-person dining table, and a shared rooftop patio.

For a comfortable stay, the bedrooms sleep five, with four sharing, but regardless of the sprawling layout, this Airbnb would be best for a small crew of three or four. There’s even a kitted-out gym in the garage, but let’s be honest, you’ll be hard-pushed to put down your glass in the rooftop sunshine.

Eight guests, three bedrooms $176 per night

Lady Bird House

austin texas bachelorette trip

Hold up. This three-bedroom house has everything you need, it’s absolutely charming, and it averages out at $172 per night. The price does not reflect the standard of this Airbnb. This is a seriously good deal. There’s a fire pit in the private yard and lone star décor sets the scene for an authentic Austin bachelorette.

The rental is a bit on the small side, especially in the communal areas such as the kitchen and living room, so it’s suited for those who intend spending a lot of time exploring the city and eating out. It’s also walkable to a lot of bars and restaurants on Rainey Street and Lady Bird Lake — hence the name.
