The new tourist entry fee to Bali will come into effect from 14 February 2024. As previously announced , foreign travellers will be required to pay a fee of IDR 150,000 per person on arrival to the Indonesian island.

The new charge can be paid in advance via https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id or on arrival, by cash or credit card. This fee is applicable once per stay in the country (including multiple entries to Bali per visit to Indonesia) and to all travellers including children who will be charged the same rate. The fee is payable in addition to the existing Visa on Arrival (VOA) charge of IDR 500,000.

It is recommended to settle the entry fee in advance to expedite the arrival process. The voucher receipt, sent via email on completion of the process, will be required for presentation upon arrival.

Revenue from the levy will be used to fund various initiatives, such as preserving rich Balinese culture, safeguarding the environment, enhancing tourism services and upgrading local infrastructure.

This tour is operated on full private basis with English-speaking guide. Other languages are on request / subject to availability and supplementary charges may apply.
Transfers are only operated within the downtown Chiang Mai areas and restricted to main hotels only.
Regions outside the central business district such as Mae Rim, Hang Dong, Doi Saket, Mae Taeng and Chiang Mai International Airport are excluded and supplementary charges apply.
We regret that are unable to provide pick-up and drop-off transfer services from and to apartment complexes, local guest houses or private apartments. We advise you kindly to head on your own arrangement to the nearest hotel inside the downtown Chiang Mai area.
We will do all possible to comply with any dietary requirements during this excursion; it may not always be possible to confirm your wishes in advance based on the choice of local restaurant.
Due to the nature of this tour, we regret to inform you that this excursion is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Guests are advised that some walking is required during this excursion; we always ensure that we take the most comfortable ways from the entrance of the sight to the sight itself.
The road up and down Doi Angkhang is not suitable for large coaches; for group travel, note that the group needs to be split up into mini-vans. We always will make efforts to confirm the exact pick-up time upon reservation.

Due to the absence of ATM machines and credit cards payment portals, we highly recommend to bring sufficient cash with you. Please ensure that you bring sunglasses, a hat /cap and sunblock with a high SPF factor when traveling with us on this tour – even when it is cloudy, the sunrays still have an immense power.
We reserve the right to make necessary changes to the excursion in case of unfavourable weather conditions or situations where we are forced to make alterations to guarantee the safety of our guests.
It is recommendable to bring a jacket / sweater with you as temperatures on Doi Angkhang are often much cooler than around Chiang Mai.
It is the responsibility of the customer to provide us with the correct hotel information, should pick-up and drop-off services be included in the package.

Authorities in Bali have implemented new entrance regulations to facilitate the travel process for visitors. One significant change is the elimination of the requirement for RT-PCR tests before departing from their origin.

Additionally, the mandatory health insurance covering COVID-19 treatment and evacuation has been lifted. Another favorable adjustment is the removal of quarantine measures for arriving tourists. Furthermore, individuals who are fully vaccinated are now exempt from the need to provide proof of being disease-free before entering Bali and traveling to various places in Bali .

Updates on Bali Entry Requirements for 2024

As of 2023, the Indonesian government has announced several changes to the entry requirements for Bali in 2024. Here’s a summary:

New entry fee:

Starting January 1, 2024, all visitors to Bali will need to pay an entry fee of USD 10 (approximately IDR 150,000).
This fee will be collected directly at the airport or seaport upon arrival.

New tourism tax:

Effective February 14, 2024, non-Indonesian nationals arriving in Bali will be subject to a new tourism tax
This tax applies to all visitors except those holding ASEAN nationality.

Visa-on-arrival:

Non-Indonesian nationals who do not qualify for visa-free entry will need to obtain a Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) upon arrival in Indonesia. The VoA can be purchased at a separate counter at the airport.

Alternatively, the VoA can be obtained online in advance through the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights website.

Tourists can stay in Bali for up to 30 days with a Bali Visa on Arrival. The Visa on Arrival can be extended once, providing an additional 30-day period for visitors to stay in Bali. If you wish to stay longer, you can rely on our services to extend your visa on arrival in Bali .

Covid-19 vaccination:

You no longer need to be vaccinated to go to Bali as of June 9th, 2023. The Indonesian government lifted the requirement for proof of vaccination for entry. However, it’s still recommended to be fully vaccinated, especially for those at risk of contracting COVID-19.

However, the Indonesian government may revise this requirement in the future, so it’s important to check for updates before your trip.

The Tanah Lot temple (also known by its Indonesian name ‘Pura Tanah Lot’ ) dates back to the 16th century, when it was supposedly built by Dang Hyang Nirartha, the founder of the Shaivite priesthood in Bali.

As the story goes, Nirartha was traveling along the south coast of Bali and spent a night on this picturesque rock in the sea. He was convinced it was a holy place for worshipping the Balinese sea gods, and had some local fishermen build a shrine on the rock.

Thus the iconic Tanah Lot was born. The name roughly translates to ‘Land in the Sea,’ and it’s one of seven sea temples built along the coast of Bali. There are many myths and legends associated with Pura Tanah Lot, and the Hindus still consider it an important pilgrimage temple.

Today, it’s one of the most famous temples in Bali , and on a busy day it’s visited by more than 5,000 tourists per day.

The main reason to visit Tanah Lot Bali is to see the ancient temples and watch the sunset.

It can get very crowded, though, and it’s turning into a bit of a tourist trap, with market-style souvenir shops lining the whole entrance to the beach.

The best views of Tanah Lot temple are from the cliff terrace near the temple, where you can see the island from above and watch the waves crashing on it.

The beach at Tanah Lot has black volcanic sand, and the whole setting is mystical. The temple really does look like it’s floating on the sea.

When the tide is low, you can walk out to the rock and get a closer look at the wooden temple buildings, which are just 30 meters from the shore.

• Holy Snake

Venomous sea snakes are believed to guard Tanah Lot Temple from evil spirits and intruders, and on the shore there’s a cave with a ‘holy snake’ that you can pay a small fee to see.

It’s a black and white ringed sea snake (apparently a Banded Sea Krait). These snakes are highly venomous, but they’re not aggressive and rarely bite humans.

• Batu Bolong Temple

Batu Bolong is another unique looking sea temple just a short walk from Tanah Lot, and it sits on a rock arch overlooking the ocean. It’s included as part of the Tanah Lot entrance ticket.

There’s a steep concrete stairway down to the beach, where you can get close up views of the arch, but sometimes they don’t allow access because of the waves.

• Tanah Lot Sunset

The sunset at Tanah Lot is pretty legendary in Bali, and a good way to enjoy it is with a Tanah Lot sunset dinner or some drinks.

There are a bunch of simple restaurants and warungs on the cliff terrace near the temple. Don’t expect a five star dinner at Tanah Lot, but it’s a great place to sip a cold Bintang or some fresh fruit juice while enjoying the sunset.

The other popular spot for sunset pics is on the black sand beach directly by Tanah Lot temple, but it depends on how high the waves are, so you may want to check tide conditions first.

Take a walk along the paved paths through the forest and see the monkeys as they play, mate, fight, groom and care for their young. Visitors are advised to stay to the paths so as not to disturb the forest and the monkey’s habitat.

The monkeys are fed each day by the park rangers, however, visitors are able to purchase bananas to feed the monkeys if they wish. Do not feed the monkeys any other food as it is not good for them. Some advice: the monkeys will approach you if you have food or if they think you are hiding food. Some monkeys won’t hesitate to grab you or jump on you if it means they can take your food. If you do not wish to be approached by monkeys, simply don’t bring any food into the park.

Do not try and pat the monkeys, they are wild animals and may act out aggressively. However, you can get up close to most monkeys and sit next to them to take a photo. Most monkeys are unfazed by people, so won’t react to you most of the time.

Entry fee to the Monkey Forest is 40,000 IDR for adults and 30,000 for children.

We aren’t a travel agency, so don’t offer tour packages. We are an information website which aims to tell people about all the great things to see and do in Bali!

Just input your dates and it will give you a range of options for your stay. Most tourists select either Kuta (main tourist/party hub), Seminyak (a little less touristy but more expensive), Ubud (where the Monkey Forest is located) or Lovina (north of the island). Depending on how long you wish to stay, you might want to visit a few places during your trip. 2. Tours – we use Go Voyagin . Here you will find temple tours, boat tours, eco tours and full day tours to volcanos, rice fields and the like. Depending on your tastes, there are also cooking classes, horse riding, art classes and so much more.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, Bali Overview

The Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is one of Bali’s landmark tourist attractions. Also, known as the GWK the park covers a sprawling area of 60 hectares with numerous facilities, venues and cultural programs. The cultural park is primarily devoted to Lord Vishnu and Garuda, his mount and is a symbolic representation of Bali’s Hindu religious beliefs.

Located in Ungasan, 260m above sea level, the main highlight of the GWK is the massive statue of Vishnu riding the Garuda. This 121m tall statue makes it the highest statue in Southeast Asia.

Food and Restaurants

The Plaza Kencana area is a great place to be in during evenings, when the food trucks line up and there is live music to add fervour to the ambience.
The Indraloka Garden is also another area within the GWK where visitors can order food.
Street Theatre part of the complex is where a lot of shopping outlets, as well as, restaurants are found.
The Jendala Bali restaurant is popular for its food, as well as, exotic views of Jimbaran Beach.

How To Reach Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park

The GWK is situated on the Ungasan hills in Badung Bali.
The complex is only a ten to fifteen-minute ride from the Ngurah Rai International Airport.
The GWK is also only 5 km south of the Jimbaran area and easily accessible from southern areas of Bali, such as Kuta (12km), Seminyak (17km), Legian (15km), Tanjung Benoa (16km) and Nusa Dua (11km).
You can hire a car or drive a scooter depending on the location of stay to reach the complex.

The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a nature reserve and temple complex in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. It is also known as the Ubud Monkey Forest. The Sanctuary is home to over 1260 long-tailed macaques, who are considered sacred by the local Balinese people.

There are some important things you should know while you are in Monkey Forest Ubud:

Please be aware you are in semi free ranging monkey area. Monkey aren’t aggressive by nature; they will only defend themselves if they fell threatened.

If the monkeys jump on you, please drops any food and walk away slowly. They will soon jump off.

This is interpreted as a sign of aggression.

Because the monkeys will know and try to find it and do not ever try to pull it back.

To keep the forest litter-free and to avoid monkeys taking and playing with it.

Such as: (wallet, money, cameras, mobile phone, sunglasses, important documents, accessories, jewelry, etc.) Management will not take any responsible for the stolen or damaged by the monkeys.

Simply amazing. the monkeys were everywhere and for a very small few you can take pictures with them. the sanctuary is very clean and peaceful. just make sure you hold on to your possessions and don’t stare the monkeys in the eyes., an absolutely magical place you have to experience to believe. i loved how friendly the little monkeys were. recommend to anyone who is in the area. you have to check this place out at least once, this was an amazing experience. i had a great time, and it was wonderful seeing monkeys in so many stages of life and being respected. i would recommend this to almost anyone. make sure you respect the rules, and donate if possible., well managed place from gate to gate. relatively clean restroom and kind staffs. dragon bridge, holy sprint temple and wooden path are most beautiful among them., my main review of the monkey forest sanctuary is attached to the forest section itself, but the main sanctuary is very beautiful and worth the walk. the temple is a beautiful centerpiece to the complex., very nice place, you enter a temple area with a lot of monkeys around. they are really doing their stuff and won’t bother you if you don’t bother them. the best is to go without bag so they won’t think you have food inside, exotic, miyazaki grade vibes. amazing blend of mind blowing scenery, beautiful architecture, wild nature and, of course, lots of monkeys. the location is unforgettable and i've returned here once more 4 years later just to refresh my memories.

Located in East Bali, Tirta Gangga Water Palace is a former royal palace turned into a stunning open water garden sanctuary.

This water palace literally translates to “Water of the Ganges,” Hinduism’s holy river, and is a well-known place of reverence for Hindus.

The mystical gardens also attract many travelers for their incredible maze of pools and fountains.

This is a perfect spot to visit if you are looking for a memorable dive into the history of Bali, as well as enjoying the incredible surroundings of the spectacular Tirtagangga Water Temple.

WHERE IS TIRTA GANGGA?

You’ll find the royal water gardens of Tirtagangga in the Ababi village located in Karangasem, East Bali.

It’s approximately 75km east of Denpasar and takes approximately 2 hours to drive here.

The area has impressive views of the eastern highlands including Bali’s highest mountain, Mount Agung .

Rice paddies cover the ground and the water gardens are surrounded by lush green forest – an awesome sight to see!

HOW TO GET TO TIRTA GANGGA WATER PALACE

The best and easiest way to get to Tirta Gangga Bali is by scooter or by car.

If you are staying in the Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, or Ubud region, I recommend renting a scooter and making the 2-hour drive out to Karangasem in East Bali.

Don’t feel confident riding a scooter? Another great option for getting around Bali is to hire a private car and a driver for the day and experience all that the island has to offer.

If you visit around midday you can expect some scorching sun, which may be too hot to walk around.

Also, the place looks stunning early in the morning with a good sunrise as you walk through the tropical gardens.

Opening hours are Monday to Sunday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

If you choose to drive up by yourself, the parking costs 2,000 IDR ($0.15).

The parking is located near the shops in front of the palace entrance.

Upon arrival, you can purchase your entry ticket at the ticket office and the Tirta Gangga entrance fee is 50,000 IDR ($4.50 USD) per adult and 15,000 IDR ($1 USD) for a child.

If you want to have some extra fun while you spend the day wandering around the gardens, I’d highly recommend buying some fish food too.

Vendors sell bags of fish food at the entrance for 5,000 IDR ($0.35) per bag. You can easily feed the fish in the ponds – they’ll be waiting for you!

Also, this water palace wouldn’t be complete without the option of swimming, especially when it’s super hot under the Bali sun.

There are certain areas where you’re allowed to take a dip for an additional 10,000 IDR ($0.70) per person.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TIRTA GANGGA BALI

This beautiful location is a must-see for those who want to submerge themselves in the history of Balinese culture .

Tirta Gangga Bali is a former royal palace, designed and built in 1946 by the late King of Karangasem. The place is truly remarkable for the fact that the King helped construct them.

Many local villagers were greatly surprised to see their own King working in the mud to dig out pools and ponds, alongside lower-class laborers.

Nonetheless, designing and building the water palace appeared to be one of his greatest hobbies.

Now it’s home to breathtaking water gardens and consists of three separate complexes, each with its own ponds, fountains, tropical gardens, and collection of statues.

During your visit to this gorgeous water sanctuary, know that the “Water of the Ganges” is considered holy. The temple is used by locals in sacred ceremonies, so it’s important to be respectful when visiting.

It’s the perfect spot where you can enjoy the beautiful nature of the gardens and the uniqueness of the temple.

Be sure to bring some cash to purchase fish food, souvenirs, or a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants.

You can feed the fish and capture a great shot on the stepping stones in the highest complex to end your visit.
