Christina Anstead is a whiz at finding great houses. The star of Christina on the Coast and Flip or Flop knew exactly what she and her husband, Ant, wanted when they were looking for a place in Newport Beach, CA, last year. “Single level, preferably farmhouse style, and I’ve always loved a black-and-white home,” she says. And that’s exactly what they got. It didn’t need a ton of work—just enough for them to put their stamp on the place, blending their different styles. “I’m bohemian, he’s more industrial,” says Christina. The result: a winning marriage of black and white and natural wood tones. Take a look!

The 18 Best Home Design and Décor Shows

best home tour shows

Screen Rant

This article is updated monthly with our latest picks.

If you're anything like us, you're probably a sucker for a good home design show. From Mary McDonald's antics on Million Dollar Decorators to Nate and Jeremiah 's charismatic banter, nothing is better than watching people transform shabby—or sometimes entirely abandoned—homes into design masterpieces. But, what do you do when you've watched every episode of your favorite home décor show, and you have nothing left in your Netflix queue?

We compiled the most popular ones to bring you the ultimate list of design shows you should definitely watch—or rewatch. Don't tackle another decorating project before watching the best home décor shows listed here, and consider it your own personal design school.

Fixer Upper

Hands down, HGTV's  Fixer Upper is one of the most popular design shows of all time, so if you haven't watched it yet, you probably should. In the show, husband-and-wife duo Chip and Joanna Gaines go through the process of helping clients turn their houses into true showpieces.

The combined construction and design aspect of the show means that you get to see insane before and after transformations—and gather a ton of ideas to improve your own home. After a five-season run that ended in 2017, Chip and Jo took a hiatus from TV, but they are now appearing in a new season of Fixer Upper: Welcome Home that can be found on Discovery+.

Available on : Amazon Prime Video , Discovery+

Nate & Jeremiah By Design

Distractify

We can't get enough of  Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent . This show may not be different from  Extreme Makeover: Home Edition , but it's worth the watch for Nate and Jeremiah 's banter alone. These two are not only insanely charismatic on television, but they're also extremely knowledgeable about décor and design—and they're great at breaking it down for their viewers and the families they're helping.

Bonus: you get a healthy dose of their daughter, Poppy, on the show—who is the most adorable toddler we've ever seen. It's feel-good design TV at its best.

Available on : Amazon Prime Video

Dream Home Makeover

This show is so perfectly binge-able: heartwarming stories, deserving homeowners getting remodels, and absolutely gorgeous homes all designed by none other than Shea McGee. Dream Home Makeover gives viewers a glimpse into Shea and Syd McGee's lives as they run their homeware storee, McGee & Co., built a dream home of their own, raise two young daughters, and help make the aspirational achievable when it comes to interiors.

Available on : Netflix

Sarah Off the Grid

 Sarah Richardson Design

Sarah Richardson  is a Canadian designer who seems to have made her way into the hearts of our Instagram community on the international front. Through her years on HGTV, she's had seven television series:  Room Service, Design Inc. ,  Sarah's House ,  Sarah's Cottage ,  Sarah 101 , Sarah off the Grid, and  Real Potential . They are frankly all worth the watch, but one of our favorites is Sarah off the Grid, in which she, her husband, and their two daughters build their off-the-grid dream home.

Selling Sunset

Selling Sunset has become the quintessential real estate show, as the brokers of the Oppenheim Group take on the Sunset Strip. Seven of the city's successful female real estate agents compete in the cutthroat L.A. market to get multimillion-dollar homes sold—and take their cut. The luxurious homes featured and the always entertaining drama make this a must-watch (and rewatch).

Candice Tells All

Steve McAuliffe

Candice Olson  is a Canadian designer who evolved into an HGTV star. Her first show,  Divine Design , premiered in 2001, while her second one , Candice Tells All , aired in 2011. In typical design show fashion, the charismatic designer helps homeowners maximize the potential of their homes episode after episode. If you like seeing quick transformations from start to finish and enjoy a good before and after, this is the show for you.

Rock the Block

Real Screen

Rock the Block is the product of design and demolition's strongest women competing to renovate identical properties in the Los Angeles area, attempting to add the most value to each of their properties. This competition series is a perfect binge, as they are already on season 2, and features many familiar faces in the design world.

Million Dollar Decorators

We just had to throw  Million Dollar Decorators  on the list. If you're into reality TV, you need to rewatch both seasons of this Bravo show, which follows four eccentric interior designers in Los Angeles and their multimillion-dollar-budget clients and projects. It's inspirational and hysterical all at once.

Genenvieve's Renovation

Real Style Network

Genevieve Gorder  has been showcasing her design prowess on the small screen since 2000 when the American designer appeared on the first season of TLC's  Trading Spaces . It didn't take long for Gorder's effervescent personality and playful manipulation of interiors to catch the attention of other networks, including HGTV, Bravo, and Netflix. Whether starring in her series ( Dear Genevieve ,  Genevieve's Renovations ,  Best Room Wins ) or serving a supporting role ( Design Star ), the designer is always worth a watch.

Property Brothers

On the air since 2011, HGTV's  Property Brothers  follows identical twin brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott as they help families transform fixer-uppers into forever homes. Drew, a licensed realtor, presents renovation-ready homes—and a digital rendering of the home post-reno—to the homebuyers, who then have to trust that Drew's expertise and vision will well spend their money. Johnathan, meanwhile, acts as the brawn behind the operation; he's a licensed contractor. Naturally, the sibling rivalry and banter between the brothers makes for good TV, and the homes' final reveals are equally as entertaining.

Available on : Amazon Prime Video , Hulu

Tiny House Nation

Great things come in small packages. That's the premise behind  Tiny House Nation , which debuted on the FYI cable channel in July 2014. Hosted by renovation experts John Weisbarth and Zack Giffin, the show helps families across the U.S. fulfill a dream of living in a sub-500-square-foot space. The hosts guide the families through the process of designing and constructing their tiny home , culminating in a wow-worthy reveal at the end of every episode.

Rehab Addict

If you've got a sweet spot for old houses,  Rehab Addict  is a must-watch. This show follows preservation enthusiast and Detroit native Nicole Curtis as she rehabs historic (and oftentimes dilapidated) houses to their former glory. Because Curtis aims to retain as much of the homes' original building materials and character as possible, her flips aren't easy. Still, the final reveals prove that a little ingenuity and elbow grease can go a long way.

Trading Spaces

Reality Blurred

The O.G. of design shows,  Trading Spaces , debuted on TLC in October 2000. The show ended after an eight-season run in 2008 but was rebooted in 2018 with the same premise: Two sets of neighbors redecorate one room in the other team's house on a small budget and with help from an interior designer. Each designer brings his or her own vision (and sometimes polarizing) aesthetic to the project, as well as a small budget of $1,000.

Here's the catch: the teams are kept completely in the dark about the design being implemented in their own home, so some reveals go over like a lead balloon — and the reactions are priceless.

We couldn't have the best home décor shows list without mentioning this cult-popular show . Sure, it's not your traditional design show, but it's still worth a watch. Netflix rebooted the quirky show in 2018, and a whole new Fab Five trade New York for Atlanta. It's filled with emotional makeovers and heartfelt reveals.

Flip or Flop

Former husband-wife team Tarek and Christina flip oftentimes seriously dilapidated houses in this HGTV show that'll make you want to get in on the real estate game, too. The craziest part? Sometimes they don't even see the inside before it's bought!

The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes

If your idea of a good home show is jaw-droppingly beautiful properties, this is for you. Architect Piers Taylor and actress Caroline Quentin travel around the world to bring you spectacular, but unconventional, homes. Prepare to be wowed.

Property Brothers Forever Home

If you loved Property Brothers , you need to watch this spin-off. Jonathan and Drew Scott are helping clients turn their existing homes into spaces they'll love forever. Warning: striking room transformations to come.

Flipping Out

Watch Jeff Lewis and Jenni Pulos flip houses—and maybe go a little crazy sometimes—in Los Angeles on this hilariously dramatic Bravo show. If you think you're OCD, you haven't seen anything until you watch Lewis in action.

The Best Home Shows Of 2021

Ben Napier

It's Friday night. PJs are on, wine is poured, snacks are prepped. Lights: off. Pillows: fluffed. TV: turned to a home design or renovation show. For many people, that scene is a frequent one. Just look at the numbers! As reported by Bloomberg , HGTV was named the third most-watched cable network in 2016, coming in ahead of even CNN, and, as per the HGTV show list , a majority of the network's programming is related to home design, renovation, and real estate. But why are home shows so popular? "Renovation shows combine two very relevant topics to most people... overwhelming aesthetic inspiration and the know how to do it successfully," Chip Wade, a consultant for Liberty Mutual Insurance and a DIY pro, told Apartment Therapy . In other words, people like home shows because they offer inspiration for what their homes could be. Makes sense.

With a long lineup of new 2021 home shows as evidence, this expert knows what he's talking about. But with so many new shows coming out, it can be tough to tell which ones are worth watching. This list of the best home shows of 2021 is here to help.

Home Again with the Fords on HGTV

Home Again with the Fords, which premiered on HGTV on Feb. 2, 2021, follows Leanne and Steve Ford of Restored by the Fords  as they head to Pittsburgh for some hometown renovations. "People all over the country are now returning to the places they grew up. And what a wonderful place to be," Leanne told HGTV, as reported by  House Beautiful . "It truly is a privilege to help people come home again, and to create a space they love." The new reality show depicts Steve, a licensed contractor, and Leanne, an interior designer, updating old, rundown, or otherwise forgotten homes. But they're not turning these drab houses into cookie-cutter HGTV designs — they're renovating them in ways that respect the past and honor the original flair of the home.

And that is what makes Home Again with the Fords one of the best home shows of 2021. Take the premiere episode as an example. As per a recap from Pittsburgh City Paper , the Fords' first renovation was a farmhouse on the brink. But instead of painting everything white and stripping it of charm, they honored its character and even used the owner's vibrant paintings as inspiration.

Home Town: Ben's Workshop on Discovery+

Ben Napier is no stranger to home shows, as he and his wife, Erin, are the stars of the HGTV hit Home Town . But now, he has his own spinoff: Home Town: Ben's Workshop on Discovery+. The burly southerner was always working on some kind of carpentry project on Home Town, and the fans wanted more. Napier told Today ,  "Every time our show would air, people would be live-tweeting and would say, 'Ben needs to create a woodworking show.' Every time I saw one of those tweets, I would retweet it and tag the networks." All the tweeting paid off! On his new spinoff, he invites celebrity guests to his carpentry workshop where they chat and build a piece that is donated to charity upon completion (via Today ).

Fans can expect to see celebs like tennis pro Martina Navratilova and country singer Chris Lane on the show, but it's not the big names that makes Home Town: Ben's Workshop one of the best home shows of 2021. It's its unique combination of talk show and DIY advice. As Napier joked to Today , "I'm describing it as The New Yankee Workshop meets Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee ."

Frozen in Time on Discovery+

Frozen in Time, which premiered on Discovery+ on Jan. 4, 2021, follows Maureen McCormick of The Brady Bunch fame and designer Dan Vickery as they give homes that have been frozen in time a modern makeover. While it's super fun to see the crazy time-warps that are these Southern California homes (think carpeted kitchens straight out of 1972), what makes this series one of the best home shows of 2021 are the homeowners and their history with their houses. "You can see [the homes' owners] getting excited, then scared, then excited and scared again," McCormick shared, as reported by the  New York Post . "It can be a rollercoaster ride for them." She went on to add that the remodels are "so personal" to the homeowners because there's usually a reason why they bought that house. They often just want to hold onto that feeling and those happy memories.

Take the home from the premiere episode as an example. According to a recap from People , the hosts updated the house with modern features, but they created certain elements that honored the history and original design of the home, such as a vibrant blue color-blocked bathroom inspired by Twiggy's 1960s dresses and an art piece made from the home's original cabinets.

Self-Made Mansion on HGTV

HGTV is no stranger to real estate shows, from House Hunters  and all its many, many spin-offs to Property Brothers  and  Love it or List It, just to name a few. So, out of that long list, why is HGTV's real estate show  Self-Made Mansions  worth a viewer's time? The show's host, Clinton Kelly of What Not to Wear and The Chew , tells it best.  "Self-Made Mansions is about people who have invented something, or maybe they're just entrepreneurs," the TV personality told Forbes . "They've thrown their entire lives into their idea, and have hit it big. Now, they're able to buy the house of their dreams." Kelly also admitted to Forbes that the show's title isn't exactly accurate, saying that the homes on the show are just "nice houses that 'self-made' people bought," and that fans should "focus on the 'self-made' part" as that "was the fun of it."

And it really is fun. People love Self-Made Mansions, with fans tweeting  such praise as "You can't go wrong watching #SelfMadeMansions on #hgtv," noting, "Seeing small business owners talk about how they got started and buying a home as a reward."

The best upcoming 2021 home shows to look out for

The year 2020 set the world upside down, but it also inspired viewers to desire more meaningful, original, and connective content. People don't want more of the same anymore — they want something new, exciting, and significant. "We've locked in a solid lineup of creative, innovative and entertaining programming to inspire people who want to reimagine their homes," Jane Latman, the president of HGTV, said in a Discovery press release . "This is just the beginning. We're ... looking for imaginative real estate, renovation and design experts who are pushing the envelope with their distinct points of view."

There are many upcoming 2021 home shows that are going to be just as meaningful and innovative as what's currently available, according to HGTV . Like Fresh Starter , a series that will depict designer couple Austin Coleman and Raisa Kuddus helping young clients create fabulous starter homes.  Inside Out,  on the other hand, is a competition show that will feature both interior and landscape designers. And  Life Under Renovation  will follow families as they go through the hardships and triumphs of home renovation. It's safe to say that the best is yet to come.

The Best Home Shows To Stream Right Now

Shea McGee smiling

Looking for a little inspiration for your home? Luckily, in the golden age of streaming, you've got more than a few options. Home shows have boomed in popularity in recent years, with HGTV's May 2021 big-name offering "Home Town Takeover" premiering with over 6.5 million viewers, according to Discovery . And with their unique combination of practical home decor tips and tricks and hosts that you want to get to know, it's little wonder these shows are such a hit. "They are the soap operas of today," said Allison Page, the general manager of HGTV, DIY Network, and Great American Country, to Country Living . "People do feel like they know the hosts — these aren't people just playing a part. It's like they know them in real life."

With this popularity, however, comes a huge range of choices, and sometimes it can be a little difficult to know where to spend your precious time watching. So we've done the hard work for you and compiled a list of the best home shows to stream right now.

Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa on discovery+

A long-time mainstay on HGTV with his show "Flip or Flop," home expert Tarek El Moussa's solo offering "Flipping 101 w/ Tarek El Moussa" is a must-stream sensation for any budding renovation fanatics. In the show, which airs on HGTV and streams on discovery+, El Moussa helps aspiring home renovators get their foot in the door with his extensive knowledge of flipping houses, helping them achieve a healthy profit and acquire design knowledge along the way. The show even shows El Moussa's sensitive side, as it showed his engagement to fellow home show star Heather Rae Young of "Selling Sunset" (via House Beautiful ). Aww!

It's clear that, for El Moussa, "Flipping 101" is a passion project. "It takes everything I love — investing in real estate and TV — and it's all in one format where I get a chance to really help people out who are new to flipping houses," he said to USA Today . And interestingly, his knowledge doesn't always come in handy as you might think, with El Moussa saying that the contestants "know way more than" him. "I'll tell them what to do, and literally half the time they don't listen to me and it makes for good TV," he shared.

Tiny House Nation on Netflix

Ever thought of downsizing? "Tiny House Nation" shows you how you can take it to the next level, showcasing the best tiny homes America has to offer. If, like over 50% of Americans , you could see yourself in a tiny home someday, " Tiny House Nation ," one of several home improvement shows to stream on Netflix , is the show for you, with host John Weisbarth and his co-host, tiny home expert Zack Giffin, helping families create the tiny homes of their dreams, while simultaneously aiding them in their preparations to embrace the eco-friendly, minimalist lifestyle.

Giffin is clearly passionate about tiny homes and is quick to recognize that the popularity of his show isn't just due to the gorgeous interiors that can be achieved in such a minimal space, but also down to the changing landscape of the U.S. — and the world. "Where this is coming from is not just the environmental movement, looking at how we can live with less carbon footprint, but it's really coming from the housing crisis and the economic reality of what a tiny home can do to someone's life, and the freedom that that can bring to somebody's existence," he said in an interview with the "All About Small Living" podcast.

Fixer Upper on discovery+

Before Joanna and Chip Gaines basically took over the entire world with their Magnolia design empire, they were entertaining millions each week on " Fixer Upper ," which can be streamed to your binging heart's content on discovery+. "Fixer Upper" sees Chip and Joanna transforming old, drab structures into beautiful homes, with Chip providing much of the handiwork and Joanna lending her interior design eye. The results never fail to wow the people they're working with, and we've gotta admit — what they achieve is pretty stunning.

And even though the original "Fixer Upper" series is no longer producing new episodes, Joanna and Chip Gaines premiered "Fixer Upper: Welcome Home" in July 2021 when they launched their Magnolia Network, which offers the very best in home improvement and design shows, according to The Hollywood Reporter . The couple is such a natural fit in the TV world that it's incredible to think that they weren't even seeking their place on our screens. "Jo and I weren't looking to be on TV. TV found us," Chip told THR.

Selling Sunset on Netflix

If you haven't watched "Selling Sunset" by now, we don't know where you've been. Perhaps the ultimate viewing for those who love luxury properties, Netflix's "Selling Sunset" takes us behind the curtain at the Oppenheim Group in Los Angeles and follows the ever-changing friendships, alliances, and love lives of the ultra-glam employees. Expect fights, tears, and an astonishing array of Hollywood properties — including a $75 million listing that, as of April 2021 , is still proving a little tricky to shift. Poor Davina.

Fans of the mega-hit will be pleased to know that a fourth season is in the works, and realtor Mary Fitzgerald said to expect "some celebrity listings" and "some very, very big deals," according to an April 2021 interview with SheKnows . Fitzgerald also spoke about her famously off-again, on-again friendship with fellow employee Christine Quinn, and said that she was largely avoiding getting sucked into any gossip before they start filming the next season: "I'm sure once we start filming, there'll be plenty of drama. So I don't need to get that started any sooner than necessary."

Home Town on discovery+

A bona fide sensation, the popularity of "Home Town" shows no signs of stopping. The show has been a hit for audiences across the board, with an episode in January 2021 rating as the third-most watched show on cable in its timeslot, according to House Beautiful . And it's easy to see why: The "Home Town" hosts, married couple Ben and Erin Napier, exude pure Southern charm as they take the show's participants on renovation journeys, helping them purchase and restore old properties in their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi, and making friends for life along the way.

It only takes a few seconds of watching the show, which is available to stream on discovery+, to see how much Ben and Erin love their hometown, and much of the show's success comes from this passion. "I don't like being told what I can and cannot do," said Erin Napier to CBS News , adding, "I don't like to be told that the place where I'm from is dead. It is interesting and it's creative, and it's unusual. And I wanted to share that with the world."

Marriage or Mortgage on Netflix

The wedding of your dreams or the home you've always wanted — which would you choose? Such is the premise of "Marriage or Mortgage," the Netflix show which sees couples try to decide between the two. The couples' decisions are made even tougher by hosts Nichole Holmes and Sarah Miller, a realtor and wedding planner respectively, who work to convince the participants one way or the other. Expect high drama, gorgeous properties, and some pretty nail-biting decisions.

One of the show's biggest strengths is showcasing how much each decision means to the couple and how unique their journeys are. This is embodied by couple Hayley and Andrew, who spoke about their experience to Women's Health magazine. "I think my biggest hope for people seeing our episode, in particular, is that everybody's story is different. Everybody's walk [through life] is different, but that doesn't make anything not normal," Hayley shared, noting, "Whatever decision they make, each person's story is their normal."

Farmhouse Fixer on discovery+

Farmhouse chic is very much  the style of the moment , and "Farmhouse Fixer" has it in spades — with a celebrity face. The show sees "New Kids on the Block" singer Jonathan Knight helping home hopefuls in the New England area achieve the farmhouse of their dreams. Boston-local Knight works with his friend and designer Kristina Crestin to renovate old farmhouses into things of beauty, creating homes that last a lifetime.

Despite the homely feel of the show and the designs, renovating an old farmhouse is not without its difficulties, as Knights well knows. "It's always going to be a bigger project than you expect. There are so many things behind walls that people don't think about," he told  Architectural Digest , adding, "We had a house where the whole back wall was eaten by termites." While "Farmhouse Fixer" airs on HGTV, it's available to stream on discovery+.

Grand Designs on Amazon

If you're a fan of unique home design, it's hard to beat "Grand Designs" for sheer innovation. The long-running British show, which is available to stream on Amazon, has decades worth of episodes to binge, and each episode, host Kevin McCloud sees design aficionados build truly unique homes of architectural beauty. Among McCloud's personal favorites on the show are a home made of shipping containers, a house constructed out of an old water tower, and a home with walls made out of 300 barley bales, according to Grand Designs magazine.

With his extensive experience, McCloud's well-qualified to advise any folks out there looking to achieve their design dreams. "Work with great people! Don't imagine for a moment that you can do everything, most of us can't," he shared in an interview with Grand Designs. "Find an architect who views the world as you do and find a builder who you love working with and with whom you feel you can have a good relationship."

Dream Home Makeover on Netflix

Just when you thought you'd reached your limit with husband-and-wife home design shows, here comes one more that you've gotta see. Netflix's " Dream Home Makeover " sees Shea and Syd McGee of Studio McGee help families achieve their perfect home. Their keen sense of design marries with their clients' needs and space considerations, and the results are invariably stunning, with everything from the creation of a self-contained apartment for when Mom comes to stay to a luxury redesign with a basketball court to boot.

For any budding designers looking for inspiration for their own space, this show is well worth binging, especially when you consider Shea started her design business in her very first apartment! "I became completely engrossed in the design, it was a very tiny apartment," she said in an interview with Hello! magazine. "Once I started putting a fresh coat of paint on the walls and doing little things, I saw how much it transformed the way we felt at home and really became addicted to the process and the power of transformation."

Get Organized with The Home Edit on Netflix

If you like your home shows with a celebrity twist, "Get Organized with The Home Edit" on Netflix has you covered. The series sees Joanna Teplin and Clea Shearer of the organization company The Home Edit revamping spaces through endless organization tips and tricks, transforming homes without any huge renovation work or costs. And a serious bonus of watching this show is that you get to see the homes of some of the world's biggest celebrities, including Khloé Kardashian, Reese Witherspoon, and Neil Patrick Harris, as Teplin and Shearer use their skills to help their clients get organized.

You'll be amazed at how fast Teplin and Shearer work to refresh the homes each episode — and apparently, that speed isn't just for drama. "We are given a very specific amount of time that we're allowed to even be in the person's home," said Shearer, giving some behind-the-scenes knowledge to Entertainment Weekly . "Then, the crew can only work so many hours so we can't even really go over and they have to film the intro, us meeting the client, seeing the space, going through the items before we even get to the organizing or else there's no show."

Million Dollar Beach House on Netflix

Had your fill of "Selling Sunset"? Take a trip to the Hamptons for your next fix of luxury property and rollercoaster realtor relationships with "Million Dollar Beach House." The Netflix show explores the homes of the rich in the ultra-competitive Hamptons market by following real estate firm Nest Seekers — and in doing so, it delivers plenty of real estate drama as these young agents compete with one another to get to the top. The properties on this show are no joke: One home, featured in the sixth episode, eventually sold for a cool $7.4 million, according to the Nest Seekers website.

Despite the highs and lows of the relationships on the show, these real estate agents are passionate about property and are deeply knowledgeable about the Hamptons market. "The Hamptons market has primarily been a second home market, many buyers use their properties as a getaway or an investment property so they are purchasing homes to reflect this," said agent Sara Burack to Hamptons.com . "Buyers go all out with these homes!"

Home on Apple TV+

"Home" on Apple TV+ is a beautifully shot documentary series that takes viewers inside some of the world's most visionary homes and into the lives of the people who conceived and created them. Throughout the nine episodes of the first season, you'll travel from a home in Bali made totally out of bamboo to a minuscule apartment in Hong Kong that uses movable walls. Throughout, you get to experience the sheer passion behind these creations. Think "Chef's Table," but with houses.

The artful homes on display are embraced by the filmmakers who worked on the series, such as Doug Pray, who directed two episodes. "Both the Austin and the Sweden episodes really made me love those homes. They both actually were quite similar in the way they interplayed with nature," he told  Deadline . "You'd be inside, but you felt like you were outside in the woods or out in nature and vice versa. If you're outside, you're not quite sure if you aren't inside. There's just this beautiful blending."

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on discovery+

Move over, "Modern Family" — Jesse Tyler Ferguson is known for a new gig now. The long-running "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" was revived by HGTV, and sees Ferguson bringing back the classic blend of moving personal stories and incredible home transformations. Ferguson works with designers Breegan Jane, Carrie Locklyn, and Darren Keefe to create the homes that these families deserve (via Forbes ). If you're binging this one, make sure to keep some tissues handy!

The feel-good nature of the show is reflected by Ferguson himself, whose passion for each project is clear from the get-go. His interest in hosting it was because it's "a show that was bringing so much hope and restoring things that families needed," as he said in an interview with The Wrap . "It did so much good for the 10 families that we got to encounter, and it just made all that work worth it, really. It was a really grueling two months, but every time we revealed a home to a family, it just made it all worth it."

My Lottery Dream Home on discovery+

David Bromstad, an HGTV icon and "HGTV star" winner , takes lottery winners from around the U.S. on a journey to find their perfect home in " My Lottery Dream Home ." With eight seasons and over 100 episodes, there's plenty to binge — and the properties that Bromstad visits are naturally seriously impressive. The show doesn't waste any time showcasing luxury properties fit for a lottery winner: The very first episode features Rick Knudsen, who won $180 million with their lucky ticket, according to Business Insider .

And, after years of helping lucky folks find their perfect place, now Bromstad's getting in on the action: A special episode of "My Lottery Dream Home," titled "My Lottery Dream Home: David's Dream Home," has him finding his own pad (via Broadway World ). The episode — and the rest of the series — is available to stream on discovery+. With so much experience under his belt, we're sure he'll find the right place!

It feels hard to make end-of-year statements this year. Anything along the lines of “We learned so much,” or “How crazy was that?” sounds incredibly understated, and pretty much wrong. Yet, here we are, another year passed, and we can’t help but look back on the way things were. Despite everything, we kept finding so many beautiful, fabulous, jealousy-inducing homes to help pass the time in 2020. We dug into our archive of home tours and found this year’s fan favorites. From genius small-space solutions to brilliant yet doable DIYs, and a slew of amazing vintage finds, these stories highlight the essence of Clever. Smart living can be beautiful too. Check out the best ones below.

All of Carla’s furniture is secondhand, so she keeps her home current with tchotchkes from contemporary artists. “I like the idea of holding on to these new objects so at some point they become vintage,” she explains.

3. This Couple’s Minimalist Brownstone Exudes the Control We All Crave

“Natural light in itself is a form of art and we view our place as a way to study it,” adds Charlie. “In the winter, the light comes through the windows differently than it does during the summer. When you study light, you realize that there are many ways for light to get from point A to point B and each way has a subtly different outcome.”

Minimalism requires meticulousness. It’s a mindset photographer Charlie Schuck and prop stylist Natasha Felker have mastered in their Brooklyn brownstone, where their curated possessions meet a clean palette awash in natural light. “If there’s something we fall in love with, we first look to see if it can be found used, at a discount, or for a trade,” Charlie says. “If not, then we buy or commission the piece to be constructed.”

Juan Moreno Lopéz-Calull is the founder and designer at John Brown Projects , a Barcelona-based interior design firm and art consultancy. As a 28-year-old city dweller, Juan had the luxury of creating a space catered exclusively to his own needs and vision. Upon securing the apartment, he excitedly imagined it as a canvas to showcase the artists he champions professionally, a platform to articulate his team’s mission and capabilities, and an opportunity to tell his story. The outcome is a home that exists as a living, breathing testament to Juan’s very personal aesthetic ideals, passions, and philosophies.

The Best Streaming 4K, HDR & Atmos Shows for Your Home Theater

HD Report

[Updated Mar. 17, 2023]

There are so many great streaming shows across various platforms such as Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, and Paramount+ that it might be hard to decide on what to watch next. But, if you’ve got a 4k TV (with or without HDR) and a multi-speaker audio system these are the shows that will bring out the best in your home theater. For this article, we’ve taken into account image resolution (detail/sharpness), color range (that can be expanded with Dolby Vision or HDR10), audio quality (often offered in Dolby Atmos or Dolby 5.1 surround), and overall “watchability” (meaning, is the show any good?). If we missed any shows please be sure to let us know in the comments. If you’re new to 4k/HDR read How To Watch HDR Movies & TV Shows.

Foundation (Apple TV+)

Foundation starring Leah Harvey Apple TV Original

Beginning with the explosion of the starbridge on Trantor, to the desert landscapes of Terminus, Apple TV’s Foundation has moments that will “wow” you with color, detail, and sound design. The series ended its first season in November 2021 and was announced to extend to a second season. There is a lot to build on in this show based on the series of books by American author Isaac Asimov, and the audio and video provide a great home theater experience. See more 4k shows and movies on Apple TV+.

Game-of-Thrones-Emilia-Clarke-Daenerys-Targaryen

Game of Thrones (HBO)

Game of Thrones was only offered in HD (1080p) during its 8-season run on HBO, but you can now stream the episodes on HBO Max in 4K UHD with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos. This show looks incredible on large 4k screens and projectors, and sounds just as good with a surround-sound speaker system to offer an immersive experience. The production quality of Game of Thrones is so good that the final two episodes of Season 9 were actually screened in IMAX theaters for a limited time. Before the streaming upgrade on HBO Max, GOT was only available in 4K from a 4K Blu-ray disc (ranked in our Best 4k Blu-rays Of All Time ).

House of Dragon starring Matt Smith

House of the Dragon (HBO)

House of the Dragon shows off incredible digital effects and cinematography that is complimented by 2160p (4k) resolution and Dolby Vision HDR. The immersive Dolby Atmos audio has some impressive moments that are reference quality (notably the screams of dragons that will shake your home theater). The show streams at about 20Mbps which isn’t nearly as packed with data as 4k Blu-ray, but nevertheless delivers a quality image even in the darkest of scenes.

Lost In Space (Netflix)

Lost in Space Season 3

Lost In Space  premiered its third season on Dec. 1, 2021 and has always been an impressive show for home theaters. The imagery is incredibly sharp in 4k and rich with color via Dolby Vision. However, you don’t really even need HDR to appreciate the color in this series because the imagery already has good contrast and color depth. The series also shows off some excellent sound mixing with Dolby Atmos audio. See more 4k/HDR/Atmos titles on Netflix .

National Geographic: Welcome To Earth (Disney+)

Welcome To Earth Nat Geo Disney TV series still1

One of the best shows you can watch right now especially if you own a 4K HDR TV is National Geographic’s Welcome to Earth on Disney Plus. The documentary series starring Will Smith contains some of the best footage we’ve seen in the format, and is almost built to test your home theater’s audio and visual capabilities. The cinematography is exceptional and the music composition by Daniel Pemberton is hypnotic. See more Disney+ movies & shows in 4k .

See (Apple TV+)

See Apple TV Plus

Season 2 of Apple TV’s  See  premiered on August 27, 2021, bringing a new key member to the cast in Dave Bautista. The show, led by Jason Momoa, is shot with such dramatic lighting that you really need to watch it in a theater-like environment to appreciate the subtleties. Immersive sound (offered in Dolby Atmos) and rich detail (in 4k Ultra HD) make this a great watch on a home theater system.  See more 4k shows and movies on Apple TV+.

Star Trek: Discovery (Paramount+)

Star Trek: Discovery

Paramount+ Original Series Star Trek: Discovery streams with Dolby Vision and 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound throughout its 4 seasons. It would be great if the show was offered in 4k resolution, but nevertheless is impressive in Full HD (1080p) resolution with expanded color via HDR. The visual effects are stunning in the series, and the layers of sound design can be immersive with the right speaker setup. Also be sure to check out Star Trek: Picard also on Paramount+ which looks equally as good. See a list of 4k/HDR/Amos titles on Paramount+ .

Star Trek: Picard (Paramount+)

Star Trek Picard Season Two Still Jeri Ryan

Now in its third and final season, Star Trek: Picard is a visually-stunning series that captures the essence of ‘The Next Generation’ with returning cast members led by Sir Patrick Stewart. But not only is the show worth watching for the cast, the sharpness (even if only in 1080p at best), color depth (offered in Dolby Vision HDR on supporting screens), and surround sound audio with Dolby Digital 5.1 make every episode a cinematic experience. See more 4k/HDR titles on Paramount+ .

Stranger Things (Netflix)

Stranger Things Season 4 Vol 2 still

Stranger Things offers a great home theater experience with 4k Dolby Vision video and Dolby Atmos sound. With 34 episodes from 4 seasons, the show offers some incredible imagery and audio that will show off your home theater system.

The Book of Boba Fett (Disney+)

The Book of Boba Fett starring Temuera Morrison & Ming-Na Wen

If you’re a fan of Star Wars or Boba Fett there is definitely something for you in Disney Plus’  The Book of Boba Fett which premiered in December 2021 with new chapters every Wednesday. The color (offered in Dolby Vision HDR), video resolution, and sound will showcase your home theater system capabilities. Also, be sure to check out two seasons of The Mandalorian also on Disney+. Check out more Disney+ movies & shows in 4k .

The Last of Us (HBO Max)

best home tour shows

Inspired by the video games series by Naughty Dog, The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic drama streaming on HBO Max (and coming to 4k Blu-ray & Blu-ray ) that is an exceptional home theater experience. The video imagery in 4k resolution with Dolby Vision HDR compliments the incredible set designs and cinematic imagery of the show. And, the Dolby Atmos audio delivers an immersive experience most noticeable in the creepy zombie scenes reminiscent of the video game. The show is reason enough to buy a 4k HDR TV or projector.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Prime)

LOTR-The-Rings-Of-Power-Still-1

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime may not have delivered everything Tolkien fans wanted in the series, but surely delivers an excellent home theater experience. The sharpness, contrast, and color depth are about as good as they can get in current streaming bitrates (4k video with Dolby Vision HDR streams at about 20Mbps). And, the soundtrack occasionally breaks into immersive moments with Dolby Atmos. The Rings of Power is definitely a series worth upgrading your home theater for.

The Mandalorian (Disney+)

The Mandalorian - Season 3

Now in its third season, Star Wars franchise series The Mandalorian on Disney+ is an epic series with signature sweeping landscapes (most of which was created in The Volume) that look about as epic as an episodic series could look. Best of all, the show is offered in 4k (2160p) resolution with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. This

The Witcher (Netflix)

The Witcher Netflix Henry Cavill Freya Allan S1

Henry Cavill looks a little bit different in this original series on Netflix than in his breakout role as the Man of Steel but is convincing as the show’s protagonist “Geralt of Rivia” — a monster hunter with magical abilities during a fictional medieval period. The series (based on the book series by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski) completed its second season in 2021 and a third season is expected in 2023. The dramatic imagery delivered in 4k is greatly enhanced with Dolby Vision HDR which adds tons of detail in shadow areas (the show is notably dark). And, the Dolby Atmos soundtrack with immersive surround sound effects is another reason to watch this series. See more titles in 4k/HDR/Atmos on Netflix .

A tradition unlike any other, the Masters offers an ideal setting for golf manufacturers – and players – to show off their creative side. When the PGA TOUR heads to Augusta National for the season’s first major, anything and everything is on the table when it comes to custom golf bags, clothing and gear.

There is a plethora of options for inspiration, and some stick to the traditions for stimulation: the Masters green jacket donned by patrons across the property, blooming azaleas lining Amen Corner or the iconic logo, a yellow United States outline with a red flagstick pinned in Georgia. Others go off-piste, thinking outside the box (like Waffle House-themed golf shoes in years past).

Some of the items promoted by the pros at Augusta National are available for purchase, or through company giveaways, while others were made specifically for players or caddies at the event. Take a look below at the best gear seen both at Augusta National and what is available for those watching at home.

TaylorMade traditional staff bags

TaylorMade’s 88th Masters edition staff bag sees a clean and traditional green-and-white color scheme with subtle design notes paying tribute to the ethos of the first major of the year. The company opted for the classic TaylorMade logo on the sides of the bag, while the more modern “T” logo is created with pink azaleas on the front. The handle displays commendation to Amen Corner with gold flags numbered 11 to 13 highlighted with a halo. Across the white sections of the bag, embossed azaleas bring a subtle 3D effect. In contrast, a collection of birth orange peaches lines the bag’s pockets, synonymous with Georgia’s state fruit.

Callaway colorful staff bags

For 2024, Callaway decided on a fully white bag with the traditional Masters green as trim. The bag’s main feature is a floral collage of pink, purple, red and orange azaleas on each side of the bag. The same can be said for the headcovers and putter covers.

Spieth’s standout nametag

The 2015 Masters champion is known for his unique black-and-neon blue AT&T staff bag seen weekly on the PGA TOUR. However, Augusta National allows Jordan Spieth to change things up. This year’s Masters sees Spieth’s familiar caddie Michael Greller carrying a green-and-white version of the bag but with one standout feature. On the front of the bag is a metallic gold, flashy nametag displaying “Jordan Spieth.”

Thomas’ custom Premiere Series FootJoys

The 15-time PGA TOUR winner debuted a slick pair of custom PLAYERS Championship spikes for TPC Sawgrass earlier in the season. This week in Augusta, Justin Thomas has been seen wearing a pair of Premiere Series FootJoys with a custom light pink azalea on the heel and a green-and-white gradient sole.

Tp5x pix season opener.

The TaylorMade Pix range for TP5 and TP5x golf balls has offered various versions of logos from supporting college teams to Nelly Korda’s donut-printed design. This year for the Masters, TaylorMade has opted for unique placements of peaches across the golf ball. Each fresh “batch” comes in a textured box similar to the skin of a ripe Georgia peach.

Callaway Chrome Tour Major Series

Similar to the Pix design, Callaway’s Chrome Tour balls are available in a number of different designs. The Masters edition for 2024 has a springtime-inspired flower pattern celebrating the iconic April major championship.

Under Armour Drive Pro LE Golf Shoes “Patron’s Pack”

Look back to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February, and between the storms Jordan Spieth was seen with a custom pair of Under Armour Drive Pro golf shoes. Fast forward to April, and Under Armour has released a Masters-themed version of the shoes that both Spieth and Maverick McNealy spent months designing. This version sees white-and-tan mesh with a classic Masters green-and-yellow trim and outsole. The insole features a Masters green checkered pattern with a playful Under Armour-branded pimento cheese logo.

PUMA PHANTOMCAT NITRO “Garden”

The aptly named “Garden” edition of the Puma PHANTOMCAT NITRO features a white leather design with green trim. The green-and-white sole of the golf shoe displays a black azalea with their re-imagined, bright yellow FLEXSPIKE.

COBRA DARKSPEED Season Opener X Driver

While the term “Darkspeed” may contradict the colorful palette synonymous with the Masters, Cobra combines the iconic azalea blooms with the all-black look of DARKSPEED. The sole of the driver shows black-shadowed outlines of the Rhododendron with traditional green-and-yellow trim.

Before Luke Combs plays in front of the 'best fans' for his Milwaukee concerts this week, he tours Miller Brewery and even shotguns a beer

best home tour shows

Before Luke Combs kicks off his "Growin' Up and Gettin' Old" tour in Milwaukee this week, he went on another kind of tour. One that is quintessentially Brew City.

Combs, one of country music's biggest stars, is playing two shows at American Family Field : One Friday and another Saturday. But ahead of that, he took a tour of the Miller Brewery . And, we got to tag along.

Yes, he was every bit as kindhearted, down-to-earth and genuine as he seems. And yes, he shotgunned a beer just like he does on stage. Except this time, he was hanging out on a brewhouse rooftop with the iconic giant red Miller sign and the Milwaukee Brewers' ballpark as his backdrop.

Not only did Combs — a longtime Miller Lite fan and years-long partner — see where the magic happens, he also checked out the specialty packaging on cases and cans that's coming out in honor of his blockbuster tour.

"It's just surreal, you know?" Combs told the Journal Sentinel. "I feel like I get to live so many amazing, surreal moments. And, I'm really thankful for that for sure. It's crazy. It's crazy."

Here's what we learned about Combs' tour and what he got into on the Miller tour. And, how about his eight Academy of Country Music Awards nominations that were announced earlier this week? We asked him about those, too.

Luke Combs talks about his 'Growin' Up and Gettin' Old' tour and why he's kicking it off in the Midwest

A or A+ shows don't cut it for Combs. He's shooting for A++.

"I try to do everything I can do to take care of my voice, take care of myself, make sure that we're doing everything we can," Combs said. "People that come are the only reason we get to do what we do. Putting on an A++ show is really important to me."

About to embark on his 25-date stadium tour, he's excited — and "a little nervous."

"You feel like you're standing at the bottom of a mountain and you're looking at the top a little bit," he said.

But after last year's "Luke Combs World Tour," he said he feels more prepared for what's ahead of him.

"We've played everywhere all over the world," Combs said. "But, the Midwest, it feels like home to me. So, good place to start it."

HOW TO AVOID TRAFFIC: Luke Combs concerts could cause delays on I-94 this weekend

Combs, who grew up in North Carolina, hadn't been anywhere close to Milwaukee when he started his music career — his first plane ride came at age 25. But, he remembers his earlier stops up here fondly.

He opened for Blake Shelton at Summerfest in 2018 and made an appearance at Farm Aid at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in 2019.

"The Midwest is like the best fans in the world," Combs said. "I mean, honestly. People probably say that all the time."

But, that doesn't mean pulling out of the driveway Tuesday night wasn't hard after the "amazing" time he spent with his "awesome" wife Nicole and their two sons — Tex and Beau — these past few months. Fortunately, he won't have to miss his other half too long. She'll be headed up this way this weekend.

What will always make it onto Combs' setlist this time around? "The songs that people would expect," Combs shared.

"Playing all the hits," he said. "That's why people are there, and I want to give them what they want."

But, each night of the tour will have a different vibe.

Combs' opening acts Friday — in the order they'll hit the stage — are the Wilder Blue, Charles Wesley Godwin and Cody Jinks.

"Friday's more in the Americana, singer-songwriter world," Combs said. "So, our set reflects that a little bit. But, obviously, still playing all the hits."

Saturday's openers will be Colby Acuff, Drew Parker, Mitchell Tenpenny and Jordan Davis.

"Saturday night is more mainstream, Top 40 country stuff, which is what I do, really," Combs said.

Combs loves watching Jinks and Davis perform — they keep him honest, he said — and he knows they're going to kick some you know what.

The first opener will start at 5:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with gates opening at 5 p.m.

The parking lots will open at 3 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Tailgating will be permitted. Give yourself plenty of time to drive in and get through security.

There also will be a "Bootleggers Tailgate Party" at 3 p.m. Saturday with two up-and-comers picked by Combs and Nashville-based concert series Whiskey Jam: Ryan Larkins and Graham Barham. It'll take place at Am Fam Field's Third Base Plaza, and will be free to attend for Combs concert ticketholders, with food and drinks available to purchase.

Luke Combs' love for Miller Lite and his visit to Miller Brewery

After getting into Milwaukee Wednesday morning, Combs hung out at the Brewers stadium for a couple of hours, worked out, then was off to the Miller Brewery.

How long has Combs been a fan of Miller Lite? "Forever, probably."

"My dad's been drinking it for a long time," Combs said. "It was always around the house."

If his music career never worked out, he said, he would still be sporting a Columbia fishing shirt and drinking a Miller Lite somewhere in the world.

"That's what I would be doing anyways," he said. "So, I really wanted to go after things that I was already passionate about that felt natural and authentic to me. So, I'm very thankful for (Molson Coors) being receptive to have me on board. I feel super lucky."

Sporting a Brewers Barrelman hat, Combs and his team walked into a conference room on the brewery's complex Wednesday. He was met by a small group of longtime brewery employees and other Molson Coors staffers. The beer cases and cans with his new specialty packaging were displayed on tables.

The design features a ribbon that says "Beer Never Broke My Heart" wrapped in between the tuning pegs of a guitar. Combs' name is at the top of the headstock.

LUKE COMBS IN MILWAUKEE: Country superstar introduces heartbreaking new baseball-tinged song at American Family Field

After everyone went around the room introducing themselves, they were instructed to suit up in PPE — yellow safety vests, glasses, hard hats, toe caps and headsets.

On Combs' VIP tour of the brewery, he got a first-hand — and at times, hands-on — look at the operations with facts and history lessons along the way.

The first stop was a packaging plant, where Combs met machinist Jeff Malecki who has "But they ain't seen us together" from Combs' song "Forever After All" tattooed across his arm.

The two shook hands and got a picture together. That would become a reoccurring scene throughout Combs' visit.

It seemed like every employee who crossed paths with Combs received a handshake. And, if they wanted a photo or autograph, they got those, too, without any hesitation.

In the warehouse, Combs saw cases with the specialty packaging sliding out of a machine — he pulled his phone out to document that — and stacks of those cases getting carried off on a pallet via forklift.

At one point, Combs stood in front of what looked like a mountain of the cases. "Get this one," he said to a photographer as he hugged the cases as far as his arms would stretch.

Later, he'd get to snag one of the cans right off of a quick-moving line.

He got a taste of that and a few different brewery roles, including one that involved flipping a cardboard box filled with unconstructed cases into place. A few cases snuck out the back, but not too shabby for a first-timer.

"Thanks for letting me do that," Combs said to the workers as he shook their hands. "Thanks for letting me be in the way."

Combs also tried his hand at adding hops, one of which was liquid. "Have y'all seen 'Superbad'?" Combs asked with a bucket of hops in hand.

It reminded him of the scene when McLovin was trying to buy booze at a liquor store and said to the cashier: "You know, I heard they recently decided to add more hops to it."

Toward the conclusion of the tour, Combs said he had a "truly amazing" time. But, his favorite part had to be the grand finale.

He got to go up on a brewhouse rooftop with striking views of the city, the home of the Brewers and that big red Miller sign.

Up there is where he shotgunned a beer in under 5 seconds, and had the honor of sampling an exclusive maturation stock that not many get to try.

"To be standing up here is really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Combs said.

How about those eight ACM Awards nominations

The 59th Academy of Country Music Awards nominations were announced earlier this week. Combs leads the nominations with eight , including entertainer of the year, male artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year, single of the year and music event of the year.

"It's really awesome," he said. "Always surprising, I think ... In a lot of ways, it feels like I've been doing this a lifetime. And, in a lot of ways, I feel like I've been doing it for six months. So, I feel like sometimes I'm so conflicted with knowing what to feel or think ... It's an honor. It's my wildest dreams coming true. So, I'm a very lucky guy every day."

A 2024 win via Combs nomination for entertainer of the year would clinch the coveted triple crown award, which consists of an entertainer of the year win plus wins in an act's respective new artist (male, female, duo, or group) and artist (male, female, duo or group) categories, a USA TODAY report said.

The event will air on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch live from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, on May 16.

Piet Levy of the Journal Sentinel staff and USA TODAY contributed to this report.

Spend some time with these critically acclaimed shows with perfect scores

A TV with the Netflix logo sits behind a hand holding a remote

What are you watching this weekend on Netflix? That can be a hard question to answer because there are always so many new shows added to Netflix that it's difficult to keep up. Every week, you'll find dozens of new on Netflix additions .

So how do you figure out what's worth investing in? Fortunately, the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes can help. Their scores give you a good barometer of the quality of a series. We've plucked out seven Netflix shows that have earned a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating. That's not an easy feat to achieve, so you know these picks are worth watching.

'Blown Away'

Glassblowing is no cakewalk. Hours and hours of work can just crack and fall apart, just like that. Professional glassblowers from around the world compete to determine the best of the best as they work to pass a variety of challenges. Each episode finds one glassblower eliminated while those left are put to the test until the end, when the winner will be awarded a cash prize of $100,000 and bragging rights as the best glassblower in the business.

Seasons: 4 (40 episodes) Genre: Competition reality Watch on Netflix

'Blue Eye Samurai'

Mizu (Maya Erskine) is a mixed-race rōnin, a samurai without a master, who's out to exact revenge on the white man who made her "impure." After dealing with years of ridicule and rejection from Japanese society because of her heritage, she takes it upon herself to slay the man who made her who she is. To do so means spilling blood, but thanks to her training from the Swordfather (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa), she's more than ready to get down to business.

Seasons: 1 (8 episodes) Genre: Animated action Watch on Netflix

'Cunk on Earth'

Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan) is a presenter based on the character in "Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe," a segment previously seen on "The Daily Show." While exploring a variety of historical sites, she asks inane questions, provides ridiculous answers to others and dispenses ill-advised takes. It makes for a bumbling good time that'll keep you in stitches.

Seasons: 1 (5 episodes) Genre: Mockumentary Watch on Netflix

'Jane the Virgin'

Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) is the daughter of a teen mom. Told her whole life not to make her mom's mistakes, she is saving her virginity for the right man and abstaining from sex until marriage. Jane's plan is going smoothly until a trip to her gynecologist reveals the shocking fact that she's pregnant! What follows is a funny, often heartwarming look at how love and family can emerge from the most trying of circumstances.

Seasons: 5 (100 episodes) Genre: Comedy Watch on Netflix

'The Program: Cons, Cults and Kidnapping'

This investigative docuseries explores the physical, sexual, and emotional abuse forced onto teens sent to facilities sold as "rehabilitation programs." It examines how these teens were kidnapped from their homes, often in the middle of the night, to be held in dehumanizing conditions meant to put them on the "right" path — even if that meant keeping them from their friends, families, and loved ones. While it's a difficult watch, "The Program" is gripping and informative.

Seasons: 1 (3 episodes) Genre: Docuseries Watch on Netflix

This series, which adapts parts of Riot Games' "League of Legends" narrative, is an excellent interpolation of the popular title and how fan-favorite "chaotic" character Jinx came to be who she is today. In the utopian city of Piltover and the slums of Zaun, two opposing sides clash over the titular "arcane" technology in the world. Sisters Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell) find themselves forced to go their separate ways after they align themselves with differing ideologies. But they soon learn that blood, like sisterhood, is forever.

Seasons: 1 (9 episodes) Genre: Action Watch on Netflix

Fans of " Black Mirror " should definitely add "Red Rose" to their watchlist. It takes place in Bolton, a town in the north west of England, during a summer when a group of friends find an app that begins to ruin their lives. It offers them "games" to play, but soon proves that consequences for failure can be real and very public.

One way Red Rose improves on Black Mirror is that its world feels a lot more real, thanks to a gritty vibe in downtrodden Bolton while still proving how dependency between us and our gadgets can result in disastrous consequences. Also, its big mystery of "who is behind the app?" will push you to binge the season from the edge of your sofa.

Seasons: 1 (8 episodes) Genre: Drama/thriller Watch it on  Netflix

Visiting the inside is like walking through a maze, there are even small signs all around the cathedral tracing where to walk, and pointing you in the right direction! The walls are meticulously decorated and painted with intricate floral designs and religious themes.

The church rarely holds service and is instead a museum open for the public to visit.

The Alexander Garden

  • A tranquil place to relax near the Red Square
  • Green lawns dotted with sculptures and lovely water features
  • The park is open every day and has no entrance fee

The Alexander Garden was one of the first urban public parks in Moscow! The garden premiered in 1821 and was built to celebrate Russia’s victory over Napoleon’s forces in 1812!

The park is beautiful and well maintained with paths to walk on and benches to rest on. The park contains three separate gardens: the upper garden, middle garden, and lower garden.

The Alexander Garden

Located in the upper garden, towards the main entrance to the park is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with its eternal flame. This monument was created in 1967 and contains the body of a soldier who fell during the Great Patriotic War!

The park stretches along all the length of the western Kremlin wall for about half a mile. Due to its central location in the city, it’ll be easily accessible when you’re out exploring The Red Square.

It provides a bit of relief from the city’s high-energy city streets. Bring a picnic lunch, go for a walk, or just sit and people watch, this is one of the best Moscow sites to wind-down and relax!

Ostankino Television Tower

  • Television and radio tower in Moscow
  • Currently the tallest free-standing structure in Europe
  • Make sure you bring your passport when you visit, you can’t go up without it!

It takes just 58 seconds for visitors to reach the Tower’s observation deck by super fast elevator. The tower is open every day for long hours and is a great site in Moscow to check out! There is even a restaurant at the top where you can enjoy rotating views of the city while you dine on traditional Russian cuisine or European cuisine!

The tower is somewhat of an architectural surprise in a city that is not known for skyscrapers! To see the city from a new perspective, make sure to add this stop to your Moscow itinerary!

Izmaylovo District

The Izmailovo Kremlin was established as a cultural center and molded after traditional Russian architecture. This colorful complex is home to several single-subject museums, including a Russian folk art museum and a vodka museum!

Next to the Kremlin is the Izmailovo open-air market, which dates back to the 17th century! The market is connected to the Izmailovo Kremlin by a wooden bridge. Pick up all your Russian souvenirs here, including traditional handicrafts, paintings, books, retro toys, and Soviet memorabilia!

You will find many hand-made and hand-painted options available at higher prices, as well as mass-produced souvenir options at lower prices!

Museum of Soviet Arcade Games

For something a little different, check out the Museum of Soviet Arcade Games! The museum features roughly 60 machines from the Soviet era, including video games, pinball machines, and collaborative hockey foosball! The machines inside the museum were produced in the USSR in the mid-1970s.

Museum of Soviet Arcade Games

The best part is, most of the games are still playable! Purchase tickets and try the games out for yourself! The museum also has a neat little screening room that plays old Soviet cartoons and an area with Soviet magazines! This unique attraction is a fun addition to a 3 day itinerary in Moscow, and an attraction that all ages will enjoy!

Whether you’re spending one day in Moscow, or more, safety is an important thing to keep in mind when traveling to a big city! Overall, Moscow is a very safe place to visit. However, it is always recommended that tourists take certain precautions when traveling to a new destination!

The police in Moscow is extremely effective at making the city a safe place to visit and do their best to patrol all of the top Moscow, Russia tourist attractions. However, tourists can still be a target for pickpockets and scammers.

Moscow has a huge flow of tourists, therefore there is a risk for pickpocketing. Simple precautions will help eliminate your chances of being robbed. Stay vigilant, keep your items close to you at all times, and don’t flash your valuables!

If you’re planning a solo Moscow itinerary, you should have no need to worry, as the city is also considered safe for solo travelers, even women. Stay in the populated areas, try and not travel alone late at night, and never accept rides from strangers or taxis without a meter and correct signage.

The threat of natural disasters in Moscow is low, with the exception of severe winters when the temperature can dip below freezing! Bring a good, warm jacket if you visit in Winter.

However, please note that Russian views on homsexuality are far less accepting than those in Western Europe. Likewise, Non-Caucasian travellers may sadly encounter racism in Russia .
