Cozumel Diving – Scuba Diving in Cozumel: The Complete Guide

Ocean Water

Welcome to the vibrant and mesmerizing underwater world of Cozumel, Mexico.

Our passion for the ocean and dedication to providing exceptional diving experiences have made us a premier choice for both novice and experienced divers. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore everything Cozumel has to offer, from breathtaking dive sites to exclusive scuba diving packages that promise an unforgettable adventure beneath the waves.

Intro to Cozumel Scuba Diving

Cozumel, a jewel in the Caribbean Sea, is renowned for its spectacular coral reefs, diverse marine life, and exceptional visibility. Cozumel scuba diving is not just an activity; it’s an exploration of a vibrant underwater ecosystem, home to some of the most beautiful and unique marine species in the world. Whether you’re a first-time diver or a seasoned pro, diving in Cozumel offers an unparalleled experience that beckons divers from across the globe.

Diving Conditions in Cozumel

The island’s geographical location blesses it with warm, clear waters year-round, making it an ideal destination for underwater adventures. Visibility often exceeds 100 feet, allowing divers to fully immerse themselves in the stunning coral formations and vibrant aquatic life. The currents, ranging from gentle to strong, offer a thrilling drift diving experience that is both challenging and rewarding.

Best Time to Dive Cozumel

While Cozumel offers excellent diving conditions throughout the year, the best time to visit is from May to September, when the water temperatures are warmest and the sea is calmest. However, the off-peak seasons also provide unique opportunities to enjoy the beauty of Cozumel’s underwater world with fewer crowds.

Peak Season: The peak diving season in Cozumel runs from December to March. This period offers the best combination of weather conditions and underwater visibility. During these months, divers can expect calm seas and clear skies, making it an ideal time for underwater photography and for beginners to learn scuba diving.

Off-Peak Season: April to November is considered the off-peak season. Although this time of the year may see some rainfall and potentially rougher seas, it often results in fewer tourists and more personalized dive experiences. The water temperatures remain warm, and marine life is abundant, with a chance to see different species that may not be as prevalent during the peak season. Water Temperature: Water temperatures are generally warm year-round, ranging from 77°F (25°C) in the winter months to 85°F (29°C) in the summer. This makes diving comfortable at any time of the year, with minimal need for thick wetsuits.

Marine Life: Seasonal changes in marine life can be observed. The summer months bring a higher chance of encountering larger pelagic species, such as whale sharks and manta rays, especially around the northern dive sites.

There is no diving in the northern part of the island; the marine reserve is located on the southwestern side of the island. Animals we might encounter are huge eagle rays, Caribbean reef sharks, hawksbill turtles, green turtles, and the massive Loggerhead turtle. June – September, there are designated trips that barefoot offers to snorkel with whale sharks, which sometimes migrate with manta rays (this excursion is going out from Cancun, and we snorkel with the whale sharks next to an island called ïsla Mujeres ¨)

Visibility: Visibility in Cozumel is consistently good throughout the year, often exceeding 100 feet (30 meters). However, the clearest waters are typically found during the peak season, aligning with the drier months.

Considerations for Timing: While deciding on the best time to dive in Cozumel, consider your priorities, such as avoiding crowds, experiencing specific marine life, or ensuring the best weather conditions. Each season offers its unique charm and opportunities for divers of all levels.

Best Dive Sites in Cozumel

Cozumel boasts an array of dive sites suited for all skill levels. Palancar Reef, with its intricate coral formations and swim-throughs, is a must-visit for every diver. Santa Rosa Wall offers a breathtaking drop-off teeming with marine life, while Columbia Deep astonishes with its massive coral pinnacles. Each site in Cozumel tells a different story, promising an awe-inspiring experience every time you dive.

Activities in Cozumel

Beyond diving, Cozumel offers a wealth of activities for adventurers and relaxation seekers alike. From exploring ancient Mayan ruins and vibrant eco-parks to enjoying the island’s exquisite beaches and culinary delights, Cozumel has something for everyone.

Where to Stay When Diving in Cozumel?

Accommodations in Cozumel range from luxurious resorts to cozy dive lodges, catering to every taste and budget. Many resorts offer dive packages, including gear rental and boat trips to the best dive sites. Staying at a dive resort offers the convenience of having everything you need for an unforgettable diving holiday at your doorstep.

Diving in Cozumel vs. Diving in Playa del Carmen

While Playa del Carmen offers its own unique diving experiences, Cozumel stands out for its world-class drift diving, superior visibility, and the incredible biodiversity of its reefs. The island’s dedication to marine conservation ensures that every dive is not just an adventure but a journey through a thriving underwater sanctuary.

This chart showcases that while both Cozumel and Playa del Carmen offer unique and compelling diving experiences, Cozumel shines with its exceptional marine biodiversity, clear waters, and drift diving adventures, making it a preferred destination for many divers. In contrast, Playa del Carmen offers a unique blend of ocean and cenote diving, appealing to those looking for variety and the convenience of direct access from the mainland.

What's included? The trip includes 2 tanks, weights, transportation to Cozumel from our dive shop in Playa del Carmen, snacks, water, park entrance/boat fees, and a great instructor.

If you are ready to have an amazing underwater experience , then diving on  Cozumel’s Reefs is the perfect choice. There are dive sites to suit beginner as well as advanced divers, something for everyone!

It is located just 45 minutes by boat from Playa del Carmen (plus 45 car ride if coming from Tulum), Cozumel is known for being a world class diving experience. The meetup point for this trip is our Playa del Carmen store.  If you are staying in Tulum, please arrange transportation to Playa del Carmen.

The coral walls that surround the entire island here drop to an incredible depth of 3000 ft/900m and are covered in spectacular marine life. The Marine Park and dives sites like Palancar Reef , Santa Rosa, and the C-53 Wreck are all spectacular.  Since the topography is so deep, it is common to see large pelagic animals swimming near the reefs. There are also thousands of smaller amazing creatures hiding within the shelter of the coral. If you pay close attention, you may find sea slugs, eels, the endemic Splendid Toadfish, and other strange but beautiful looking critters.

All of the dives on Cozumel are drift dives because the current here can have variations from mild to strong depending on season, weather and the dive site by itself. Because of this we highly suggest asking about conditions and sites available to give you the most suitable dive for your personal level and experience. You can always ask for our Drift and Deep Adventure dives, as this is a great place to complete your Advanced Open Water Diver Course.

We have 2 options for diving on Cozumel

The standard meet point for this tour is the playa del carmen dive shop .   if you are in tulum, please arrange transportation to our playa del carmen store. .

  • WE ARE ONLY OFFERING THIS OPTION AT THE MOMENT BECAUSE OF COVD.  The first is to take the direct dive boat that leaves from our beach in Playa del Carmen at 8:30 am and goes straight to the dive sites in Cozumel.
  • For the second option, one of our dive instructors will meet you at 9am at the dive shop and escort you to the Playa del Carmen/Cozumel ferry.  Once on Cozumel, you will board the dive boat which is a close distance to the ferry terminal. The Playa-Cozumel direct boat will reduce your total trip time by about an hour, but dive boats in Mexico are small, and it can be a bumpy ride if it is windy.  If you are prone to seasickness, we definitely recommend the ferry option.

I did a Skill Refresh, PADI Advanced Open Water, SDI Enriched Air Nitrox, and Los Cenotes. Blue Life is safe, thorough, flexible, knowledgeable, and extraordinarily friendly. I obsessed over finding the perfect dive shop and Blue Life is it. Most of my dives were 1:1 but never more than 2:1. You will have an amazing time, see amazing things, become a better diver, and have friends for when you return. Much love to Andrea, Carolina, Hugo, Rodrigo, Sofia, and Steve.

PADI Open Water with fun I have just completed the PADI Open Water with Blue Life scuba diving: course was professionally taught by Scuba-Steve,a great instructor and diver. I had a one to one course which I would suggest to ensure fast learning curve and optimized instructions. The course took slightly longer than expected as I got a cold after the first dive: the Blue life assistant Caro was very kind and helpful and ptoposrd to re-book me later to give few days for me to recover. All went smooth and I got not only instructive but also fun dives with plenty of sealife discovered for first time. Definitely recommended dive center for PADI course or fun dives.

From flexible scheduling with Andrea to expertise and patience during training itself by Hugo, Isabela and Hannah it was the best experience possible! Equipment, dock and dive sites were all amazing.

1 week of amazing dives My + 3 of my family members wanted to dive in Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel for our vacation. We scoured the web to find a good dive school as 3 of us needed to be certified followed by additional dives. We contacted Blue Life and completed our dives with them, and it was hands down the best decision we made. Communication: Andrea and Frank spent an hour with me on the phone to formalize our plans before arrival, they were very helpful Instructors : Hugo, Issa and Hannah are extremely friendly, professional and pay close attention to each divers skill set. If you are looking to get certified pick Hugo. They might be a tad bit expensive than other dive shops and for good reason. You are paying for good equipment and skilled instructors. Don\'t be penny wise pound foolish. These guys are solid. Tip: If its your birthday during your dive trip, they will take care of you. :)

Scuba course & Cenotes We just finished 4 days of scuba diving with blue life in playa del carmen. It was a fantastic experience due to the fact that there is such a diverse amount of wildlife and geological wonders in this area. I am already advanced open water qualified and my girlfriend decided to become advanced certified on this trip. We corresponded with Andrea from the office way in advance of our trip and she was responding to all of our emails (of which there were many) very quickly and accurately, we knew exactly what to expect and how much things would cost before we arrived. It is also very easy to pay online or in cash during your stay. The advanced course was taken by Steve and we can honestly say that he is one of the best scuba instructors we have both come across! He is so knowledgable and aware of all the correct procedures that you will come away such a better diver. He was also able to spot almost anything that was hiding under the water for us to see. Thank you Steve! We chose to dive in both playa del carmen’s reef and took the speed boat over to Cozumel (an island just off the coast with a protected nature reserve) if you have the choice make sure you go over there as it is worth the extra cost. We also took a day doing two dives in the cenotes, which are huge fresh water caverns in the jungle. This was an amazing experience as neither of us had dived in fresh water or in a cavern, the sunlight filtering through is beautiful, if you already love diving in the sea, this is not to be missed. Our guide for this day was Lucca a very experienced cave diver from Italy, he was not only a very knowledgeable diver who made us feel at ease, but also knew a lot about the local area and gave us info on other excursions we might like, he was also a very funny guy, highly recommended. My girlfriend was pretty scared about being in the cavern and he made sure she felt safe at all times. Cheers Lucca! We also did our Nitrox certification whilst we were there and Blue Life made it easy for us, we will be diving nitrox a lot in future. The only bit of feedback on the negative side at all was that on our first day it had not been communicated to the instructors that we would do the nitrox course and so we missed out on the first day diving nitrox, although there had been a storm just before we arrived so it could explain the slight lapse in organisation, as everything else was great. In summary we would highly recommend blue life and all of its staff & instructors for making sure we had an amazing scuba experience!! More

I really like this dive shop My husband and I spent a week in Playa del Carmen in Sept 2018. We planned to do our Open Water certification with Blue Life at the beginning of our trip, then join some friends for the rest of the week. We had so much fun during our first two days though, that we subsequently cancelled our remaining plans so we could do more diving. Andrea was our point of contact through email, and she was very responsive and helpful. She even tracked us down on Whatsapp so she could communicate with us easier. She was also very accommodating of all of our last minute requests and changes. Our open water course was done with Hugo, who is a fantastic instructor. We had so much fun the entire time. He also managed to squeeze in both pool sessions into the first day, so we did not have to return to the pool on our second morning. Instead, we did the Cozumel upgrade (which I highly recommend) for our 3rd and 4th ocean dives. We also did 2 cenote dives with Isabelle, and 2 with Bob. Both were great and very knowledgeable. I have pretty bad thalassophobia, and a dark, flooded underground cavern is pretty much the stuff my nightmares are made of. However, I did not feel anxious of worried in the least with either Isabelle or Bob. Overall, Blue Life is a fantastic dive shop and we would definitely dive with them again!

Amazing dives with amazing dive shop in Playa Del Carmen I recently completed my PADI Advanced Open Water and Nitrox courses with Blue Life and had a fantastic time. Andrea was really helpful arranging everything, and Scuba Steve really was a great instructor for my Advanced Open Water course. I did the refresher, followed by 5 AOW ocean dives in Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel and I really appreciate Andrea and Steve organising a Shipwreck dives as one of these. I couldn\'t miss out on the opportunity to dive in a cenote, so a couple of days later I returned to Blue Life to complete my Nitrox course diving in Dos Ojos with William. Another great experience and completely different from the other dives. I went with Blue Life because of the great TripAdvisor recommendations, and I\'d 100% recommend Blue Life too!

Great dive shop, wonderful staff! Well equipped shop that will put together a quality package of dives for you. Both instructors who accompanied me on my dives were fantastic! I did 2 Cozumel dives and 2 Cenotes dives with Valentina as well as 2 Playa dives with Steve. Valentina did an amazing job of giving me a very thorough pre dive briefing after telling her I had not been diving in awhile, including a very good job of going through all the equipment with me. She was also a fantastic all around instructor, enthusiastic, and just a very nice person. Steve was also fantastic. He went with me and my cousin who was a discovery diver and ensured my cousin had a memorable, fun, and safe first experience diving. I really recommend Blue Life for both experienced and new divers.

Lovely people, spectacular diving These guys were really great to us, I highly recommend doing dives with them if you\'re staying in Playa del Carmen, whatever your experience level. We did dives with Steve, Rodrigo, Vale and Hugo, and all were super easy to get along with, informative and ensured we were able to do all the stuff we wanted to, plus some awesome stuff we hadn\'t originally planned. Particular highlights were the Santa Rosa wall at Cozumel and \"The Pit\" Cenote, to pick out just a couple. We were so impressed with these guys that we continued to do dives with them even after moving on to Tulum. Our trip wouldn\'t have been the same without them!

Heavenly diving experience! I did nine fabulous dives with Blue Life - 2 reef dives with Gustavo and 7 cenote dives with Vale. The customer service was excellent from the first email contact with Andrea. The instructors took patient care of me every step of the way, even through issues with my ears and congestion. I can\'t say enough good things about the cenote dives. Fantastic, each one a different world. We visited 6 cenotes in all - Calavera, Car Wash, the Pit (my favorite), 2 dives in Dos Ojos, Ponderosa (Jardin del Eden) and Taj Maha. This was my first cenote experience after years of reef diving, and I\'m so glad I did it. The beauty and other-worldly quality of these places is hard to describe. Such a transformative experience. Vale took such awesome care of me I felt pampered through every dive. Blue Life is a great dive shop and I will certainly dive with them again on my next trip. Such friendly people who take good care of their customers. And, after all, there are more cenotes to see!

Diving and snorkelling Me and my wife came here in September for 4 dives and snorkelling with the whale sharks. We were not disappointed! The diving was spectacular as of course was the whale shark experience. Blue Life were superb, the boats used were plenty spacious and group sizes were small, either 4 or just the 2 of us with a guide. Our guides Andrea and Rodrigo C were lovely and patient, just what you need 20 meters under the sea. If we go back to Mexico we will definitely come back here for more diving.

Had three days of fun diving with Blue Life and really enjoyed everything! I had a private freediving training session, two local playa dives, two Cozumel dives and two Cenote dives, while my bf got his OW certification here. Everything went smoothly - the instructors are very nice and patient, trying their best to make us comfortable and enjoy the dives. They also organize trips very efficiently and did a fantastic job introducing us various dives! If come back again to Playa, will go with these guys again!

Scuba and Snorkeling w/Whale Sharks Andrea made every aspect of booking our tours as easy as it gets. She coordinated pick up times and communicated any changes in \"real time\" via email....super comforting. Hugo was our dive guide and was amazing. Super nice and made our dives as comfortable and relaxed as it gets. He did not rush us like many dive guides would. We were in the water for over 1 hour on one dive in Cozumel. We had air, we stayed down. Also, if you\'re traveling in the summer, go on the whale shark snorkeling whale shark tour as it was terrific as well.

Amazing experience for beginners and advanced! My husband and I did four dives with Blue Life, two in Cozumel and two on the Playa reefs. From start to finish, our experience was amazing! For reference, I am a very new diver (6 dives prior to our trip) and my husband is an experienced rescue diver. Prior to our travel, I emailed Andrea with a few questions about diving in Cozumel as a beginner. Andrea was wonderful and very promptly answered all my questions about the dives. When we arrived to the dive shop, our instructors already knew that I was a beginner and it was very evident that safety is the number one priority. It was great to meet Andrea at the dive shop as well! Cozumel dives: Our guide was Valentina and she was wonderful! She helped us get fitted with our equipment, which was in great condition. It is a short walk to the beach to catch the boat to Cozumel. Blue Life is one of the few dive shops that is allowed to transport you directly from the beach to the Cozumel dive site, bypassing the ferry. This is a great advantage! The sea was choppy this day but we felt very safe and tucked in on the boat for our 45 min ride to Cozumel. The staff on the boat was also wonderful, making sure we had plenty of water/snacks, helping us with our equipment and in and out of the boat. The Cozumel dives were absolutely amazing, massive coral formations at Palancar with great visibility (100+ ft). The current is strong here with our 2nd dive being a drift dive (a first for me, which I enjoyed!). This dive is great for beginners and advanced divers. Our max depth was 60 ft but the advanced groups went to greater depths. Overall, an A++ experience. Playa del Carmen reef dives: Our equipment was reserved for us after our day 1 dives so getting ready to head to the beach was very efficient. Misael was our guide for day 2 and we absolutely adored him! He is so kind and fun! Again, wonderful staff on the boat as well. The Playa reefs are very close to shore, maybe 10 min boat ride. Prior to the dives, we were wondering if we should have done another day in Cozumel but after our dives, we are SO glad we did the Playa dives. There are not the grand coral formations like Cozumel, but there is so many more fish here! We saw barracudas, turtles, lionfish, eels, crabs, trumpetfish, angelfish, pufferfish, and many large schools. Max depth 30-40 feet, definitely good for beginners and so much to see for the advanced as well. Visibility was 50-60 ft. A wonderful experience, and another shout out to Misael for making our dive so fun! We are so glad we did both the Cozumel and Playa dives! Thank you Andrea, Valentina, and Misael! We cannot wait to dive with you again!

Blue Life has set the bar for dive shops. The quality of service is amazing! Our trip started with Andrea, who seems to be able to answer any question at any time of day, being extremely responsive and helpful. Arriving at the shop, we were greeted by Leo. I considered Leo the MVP of this all-star team. He helped with equipment, answered questions, and even went out of his way to escort others in my group to see a doctor. Some of our gear was temporarily lost by the airline, but he offered to deal with the airline to ensure that everything was delivered directly to the shop. Our first 2 days in the water was with Hugo for TDI Sidemount certification. You can tell this guy loves his job. Hugo is laid back and patient, but also very encouraging at the same time. Even though I was only able to do the Sidemount course, he was preparing me for more in-depth Cavern/ Cave courses that I would eventually take. I was never really interested in tech diving before, but Hugo has inspired me to go further. After completing the Sidemount course, we did the Taste of Riviera Maya with Steve for sites in Playa Del Carmen on the first day and Cozumel on the second day. Steve was great in explaining all the details of the dives up front, and knew just about every fish we would encounter. He executed his dive plan flawlessly. In Cozumel, we drifted for about 1.5 miles for our first dive and 2.5 miles for our second. The last day of TRM was cenotes El Pit and Dos Ojos with Daniel. Daniel was also very careful to explain the history and details of his sites. His excitement for diving the cenotes was infectious. He even spent a little time at the end to help me with my back fin technique, which I still can\'t do, but not from lack of effort on Daniel\'s part. Finally, our last day with Blue Life was to snorkel with Whale Sharks, and even though this excursion was outsourced to another group, they still exhibited the same level of quality, hospitality, and passion that Blue Life did. My time with Blue Life was a life changing experience, being able to do/ see things that I never thought I could. Everything is top notch. The guides did not just ask us to follow them and then point out things to look at, which is perfectly acceptable experience. But went above and beyond in that they are sincere about educating not just about the area and history, but always offering guidance on how to improve as a diver. They will not hesitate to spend a few extra days with you to get stuff right. Our Sidemount course with Hugo was scheduled for 2 days, but he was prepared to go an extra day if needed. The same was offered to my older brother during his Open Water course. Hospitality was 5 star at Blue Life. I hardly had to lift a finger, and all the food options they provided were great. I would not be exaggerating when I said that they all treated us like family. This is a very special shop and I can\'t wait to go back. Thank you again Blue Life!

Blue life scuba Playa del carmen I’ve been diving for several years and recently went diving with my family ..my family was very inexperienced with diving and one grandson who had not completed his certification..I chose Blue Life ..this group more than exceeded my expectations..Leo did an extensive pool session to complete my grandsons certification and then Steve completed Brennan’s skills over two ocean dives ..Steve’s knowledge and ability to instruct was excellent. Misceal led the other divers and provided an excellent experience..Leo Steve and Misciel went above and beyond making sure we had a great safe family memories with our dive in Playa and Cozumel

Fabulous team for an adventure! We spent 3 weeks with the Bluelife team this month. We did the Full Cave Dive course and pleasure diving. To say it was epic is an understatement! Hugo was our instructor and guide for most of the trip and he was so knowledgable and helpful he really gave us a passion for cave diving. He helped us move form back mount to side mount as well (which I would advise to go in the caves). He is super keen on protecting the caves as well so don’t think you will get an easy ride, he will teach you to be a conscientious cave diver! It’s all about trim, buoyancy and propulsion :) We also spent a couple of down days diving Cozumel and I recommend it as the drift dove is epic, both Vale and Steve were great dive guides. They knew the area and were keen to share their knowledge. Last, but not least, Leo and Andrea made sure the school and trips were organised for us without fail! Thank you guys and we will see you again.

Full cave course We came to Bluelife to do our full cave course in July. We had a great time Hugo was an awesome instructor and his patience knows no bounds :) Bluelife staff is so accommodating and enthusiastic about diving. The course was definitely the best diving course I have done, and I would highly recommend anyone who is looking to do a full cave course or any sort of diving in general to take a look at Bluelife. After the course Willy and Hugo taken us to see some other caves and both are so helpful and knowledgeable about the caves and always helping with additional advice on the diving. During our time in Playa we also wanted to dive in Cozumel, Valentina was our guide and she also amazingly helpful and knowledgeable about the whole area. I have to say big thank you for all the Bluelife staff including Leo and Andrea for making us feel so welcome and assisting on us on with any issues we had. We are definitely coming back to Bluelife next year for our cave diving fix.

The Best Dive Experience Ever!!! We recently traveled to Playa del Carmen with another family to do some diving. A few of us had previous experience but the kids were all first timers. Each of the girls (13,16,16) had to finish their open water certification there and we were a little apprehensive as to how it would all go. Little did we know that we were in great hands with Andrea and the amazing group of Dive Masters at Blue Life. Valentina watched over the girls with such detailed care it was amazing and Steve was the perfect guide for the rest of us that needed some brushing up as it had been a while since we dove. The next three days and 6 dives were awesome and the girls did great. Steve showed us so much detail in the reef and took the time to take some amazing pictures of us. Valentina was so kind and informative and on the third day took us on a tour inside the Dos Ojos Cenote that we will never forget. She is awesome!!! (and so thorough in her Dive preparation.) We will definitely be back!

Kids first diving adventure couldn’t have been better! We came to Playa to share our love of diving with our teenage daughters. Everything about blue life was great. We did a referral course - took the pool and classroom in LA first. We had two dive masters that were perfect for us. Valentina for the girls, and Steve the expat for the parents. Valentina was calm, clear and thorough, calming iur girls fears. Steve had us up and running in no time as well. An old pro, Steve showed us great lobster, turtles, eel and more at every turn. He even brought out his GoPro when ours broke, and supplied great shots of our trip. We did 3 days- the open water dive off the pier, then off to Cozumel and dos ojos cenotes (which are a must do) Couldn’t have been better! We will be back, and blue life will be our guides, for sure!

Excellent Dives. Excellent Dive Guides. My wife and I scheduled two days of diving with Blue Life: Day one in the Cenotes and Day two off the reefs of Cozumel. From the beginning, Blue Life was very responsive to all of our questions, and we were able to handle all of the paperwork, payment and planning with Blue Life in advance of our trip to Mexico. Blue Life was very flexible with our schedule and picked us up for the Centote dives, and met us at the ferry for our trip to Cozumel. Our dive guides were also fantastic and would recommend all of them: Steve, Willy and Rodrigo. When we return to the Cancun area, we will definitely look to dive with Blue Life again.

Cenotes & Morays with the Best! Hugo was our wonderful dive master for my Dad, twin brother\'s and I\'s underwater adventures! He is an expert at his craft while maintaining a laid back and fun loving attitude. We went on two ocean dives and two cenote dives. My family has experience with ocean dives but this was our first time in underwater caves. Hugo explained every instruction perfectly which made for a comfortable and (most importantly) safe experience. To illustrate Hugo\'s expertise, here is anecdote from our first cave dive: One of my brothers was recovering from a nasty head cold but felt up to trying the cave dive. Everything went smoothly until we were swimming out of the cave and one of his ears wouldn\'t equalize, causing much discomfort. We alerted Hugo right away and were able to emerge in an air pocket, so my brother could take care of his ear. Hugo handled a potentially stressful situation in a calm and professional matter, my brother was able to stay at a more shallow level and exit the cave with no issues.

I dove with Blue Life 3 days: Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and cenote Dreamgate with TajmaHa; the experience was completely amazing, I enjoyed every single minute with them. Blue Life customer service is top notch. The guides (all the guides are instructors) are professional, love what they do, they are safe divers and really nice and fun people to dive and chat with. Blue Life has a personalized service, they love to have small groups, one day it was just me with the instructor and the other days we where 3 divers. I dove in Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Cozumel before with 2 or 3 different dive shops and also I dove in many other countries and can say Blue Life team and service is top notch. I will be back to my new favorite dive shop soon!!! Higly recommended. Cenote dive is a must!!!

Super dive instructors. My wife and I are certified and wanted a good guide to Introduce our daughters to diving. Their discovery course was spot on. Lessons in a real diving swimming pool before open water. Jack was a patient and reliable dive master and instructor.  Great crew!  Took us to Cozumel the second day on the fast boat. Home by 1:00 to enjoy the rest of the afternoon after a spectacular dive. Very much recommended.

Outstanding Diving and professional staff My daughter who is 13 and myself set up 2 dives days with Blue Life. One in Playa del Carmen and one in Cozumel. She recently completed her PADI training and was nervous about her 1st ocean dives. Blue Life made it an absolutely awesome experience for her. We teamed up on both dives with Scuba Steve, a PADI master diver. He made her feel so at ease and made me feel confident that she was going to do well. The dives at both Playa and Cozumel were absolutely stunning. Steve showed us places that eels and lobsters live that only a local dive master would know. The abundance of fish, eels, Rays, and lobsters was awesome. Check in with Leo could not have been easier. We filled out all necessary paperwork ahead of time online and when we got to the shop we were fitted into our gear in 10 min and we had a 5 min walk to the beach and our boat. It was so simple and easy. Equipment is very good and you can tell well maintained. When we come back to this area to dive Blue Life will be the only place that we will call.

Definitively recommended . Master divers @bluelifediving combine the thrill of diving with total safety underwater and on surface absolutely professional. Beginners are treated with extra care and consideration . All beginners in our group (3 persons) are now highly motivated. After the first dives we all were ready to endeavor more demanding dives as of the cenotes, which were absolutely a brand new world discovered. Many thanks Valentina, Willy, Leo for making our dives safe, exciting, enjoyable and fun. Congratulations for your professionalism and charm well combined. Til next time hopefully soon. We just finished our second trip diving with Blue life. On the first trip they set us up with some great guides that took us to some beautiful cenotes, diving with bull sharks, a night dive and some great reef dives. On the second trip I completed the cavern course with Hugo. He was an amazingly effective, kind and patient instructor. I left there with huge improvements in my knowledge and skills. This truly is top notch instruction. I will definitely choose Blue Life again for the Intro to Cave and Full Cave courses in the future. Valentina took us on some fun dives in the cenotes, a night dive and a wreck dive in Cozumel. She provided amazing pre-dive briefings and really ensured a great dive experience. She also did an excellent job instructing my partner with her wreck dive specialty. What I like best about Blue Life is that they always keep the groups very small and they employ only top tier guides. Definitely the best dive shop I have ever been to.

She briefed me on what to expect and we got to talk about the reef, marine life that could come across us. I live in South Florida by the beach so im used to divreallye on 20-40 ft just to hunt so i was a bit nervous going deeper because i was little rusty but we talked so much about life ,family and dive on our way from Playa to Cozumel I could care less that i was rusty lol! Blue life - great dive shop As usual, Blue Life delivers a custom experience for its clients! Whatever dive you wish to do, they will make it happen. Many thanks to Valentina, a great dive guide. I told her the story of a past trip to Cozumel where I was able to take a photo of a splendid toadfish, endemic to the region, but had my camera stolen before I could save the picture. Well, she found me a splendid toadfish and sure enough, I got the shot! Thanks Valentina! Patrick Montreal, Canada

Scuba in Cozumel and Snorkel in Dos Ojos The total experience was great. Blue Life and Vale were able to guide us through the entire way and make it very enjoyable. The shop was in a great location and the equipment was well kept. Vale was able to teach us through our dive skills and took care of us while we were diving. She was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to work with our vacation schedule. We went to Cozumel and were able to see the sea turtles, and to Dos Ojos and saw the bat cave. I highly recommend Blue Life to anyone of any age and skill level

Scuba diving Dos Ojos & Cenotes We had a wonderful experience on our trip thanks to Blue Life dive shop. We relied on trip advisors great reviews to plan our scuba reservations. We instantly felt well taken care of by Andrea to book our dives. Super professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Our dive master impressed us as well. Her name was Valentina. Super professional with a keen eye on our dives finding very unique sea life. Wish we could give them more than 5 stars! Highly recommend their services.

Superb Diving with a Great Team So, three months ago I was planning a trip to Mexico and wanted to get some diving in, and to include the Cenotes that I had heard so much about. After trawling the reviews on the net I came across Blue Life based almost on the beach in Playa del Carmen. I contacted them via email from the UK with a prompt and very professional and informative response from Andrea, so booked my slots. 3 days with 2 tanks per day, one local, another in Cozumel and the final in the Cenotes. The guides Misael & Vale (sorry if spelt these wrong) were nothing less than skilled professionals who love their jobs, the equipment, boats were all in good order and had six fantastic dives, Cozumel & Cenotes are truly outstanding, so good I think I will come back next year and will book again with Blue Life. Thank you so much for three memorable days Te veo pronto

Scuba diving near Cozumel We went with a guided scuba diving tour off of Cozumel with Blue Life. Our guide Valentina was very friendly and helpful for the entire duration. We started with some basic training in a swimming pool where we got comfortable with our equipment and procedures. Vale was very patient and made us feel well taken care of. At each step in the process she carefully explained what we were about to do. During the dive she kept a close eye on each of us to make sure everything was going smoothly. When I come back to Playa del Carmen I\'ll definitely go diving with them again!

Snorkel in Dos Ojos and SCUBA in Cozumel Our trip was very well organized and planned. It was made especially well with our amazing tour guide, Valentina. She was very calm, collected, patient and professional throughout our customized tour. Our group felt at ease with Valentina guiding and instructing us throughout our trip (which included transportation, tickets, equipment and food) It was my very first time in a cenote, and apparently we went to a very special one, which included a guide-only directed bat cave encounter. Cozumel was even more beautiful with its crystal clear waters and calm waves. We were able to see the colorful coral, fish, turtles and even lobsters. It was also my first time SCUBA diving. With Valentina guiding us, I was able to concentrate on the beautiful reef, instead of worrying about my safety. I would highly recommend Blue Life again, as the the entire process was easy and fun at the same time.

Recent taste of Riviera Maya My wife and I just came back from our vacation to Riviera Maya just few days ago. And just like last time, we decided to go on a diving with Blue Life this year. Last time, I got my open water certificate and this year, we went full 3 day taste of Riviera Maya. First two reef dives were great way to start diving. Leo was our guide, and us two and other couple went diving in a group. We were lucky to see two turtles and one big and one small moray eels. Not to mention various fishes and reefs. Leo did superb job on guiding and helping us on refreshing our diving skills. Second Cozumel dives were just beautiful as expected. Valentina was our guide, and we saw so many turtles, nursing sharks, giant stingray, giant lobster and crabs and most colorful reefs we ever saw. Now we feel very spoiled and not sure any other future diving would meet our expectation. Valentina pretty much took care of us from shop to Cozumel and back 100%. She also knew where to look for interesting marine life. Lastly, Hugo took us to Chikin-Ha for cenote diving. We did not expect the dive to be a cavern/cave diving where flash lights were essential. It was scary but very exciting experience. We dived from one opening to other through large underwater caves. We felt very safe with Hugo, and was very very interesting experience. We gotta thank all three awesome guides, Leo, Valentina and Hugo. They were very professional and kind. Not to mention, Andrea helped us with arrangement through countless emails. We do not know when, but when we go back to Riviera Maya, we will definitely go diving with Bluelife again.

Diving in Blue Life We spent 3 days diving with Blue Life in Nov 2017. The entire team was awesome and the owner Frank is a really nice guy. Pepe was our dive master for most of that time and I can\'t say enough great stuff about him. They were very professional and provided a very memorable experience. Great Experience Blue Life is a great dive shop. I highly recommend them for diving if you are in the Playa del Carmen area. I went with them for dive trip to Cozumel. The price was reasonable, the dive master, Flor, was very knowledgeable, safety conscious and professional. She took the time to explain the local area regulations, currents, dive safety concerns and procedures. The dives were fantastic, and despite bad weather, I had a wonderful experience. Because my first experience was so good, I booked another dive trip a few days later to dive in the Dos Ojos cenote. Once again the dive master/guide was very knowledgeable, safety conscious and professional. I was a bit apprehensive having never done any cavern diving. Bob took the time to ensure that I understood the safety briefing was comfortable with everything before proceeding. It was a pleasure to deal with Blue Life and I would highly recommend them to anyone wishing to go diving with a certified dive outfit in the area. I will be back the next time I am in the area.

Could not ask for better service This was our second time diving with Blue Life and we just booked our third for a trip in May. The staff was fantastic to work with in booking our dive. Simple and straight forward process. We cruised into Cozumel, took a quick cab ride from the cruise port to the ferry port where we met Valentina with everything we needed for an afternoon of diving. Valentina did an excellent job of helping us set up our gear and explaining our dive plan. Once we were blowing bubbles was always on the lookout for sea-life and excited to point out what she found. Overall a top rated dive shop with excellent customer service.

Wonderful Dives with Blue Life I was visiting Playa Del Carmen for a week and wanted to do some diving. I contacted them via their website and response was very quick with most of the information I needed. I did 6 dives with them. 2 at Playa Del Carmen, 2 at a Cenote and 2 at Cozumel. The dives were very personal and the group was small, so a lot of personal attention was given. I rented equipment from them. The equipment was normal dive center quality, but I was told by the dive masters that diving equipment in Mexico can be very very expensive and thus most other dive shops have much older and used equipment then Blue Life. Coming from Asia, I am used to 3mm or Lycra wetsuits. Here they dive 5mm wetsuits and getting in and out of them can be painful, however, the water was cold and it is necessary. I you have your own gear, I would suggest at least bringing booties and fins as some of the dives requiring walking on rough ground to get to the water. On the dives, the must do must be a Cenote. It is a cave dive in fresh water. The visibility is amazing like no other, and should not be missed. Do note that as it s a cave, you suit up at the carpark, and carry full gear down to the cave entrance before descending into the waters. Here wearing booties/fins would be the best way to go. Else wear slippers and leave them at the cave entrance. I also liked Cozumel. It can be done by speedboat, or ferry to Cozumel then speedboat. Here the sea is blue and there is a carnival feel with all the cruise ships sailing by. The difference between ferry and speedboat is the speedboat leaves Playa direct to the dive site, but its long bumpy journey to get there and back. I chose the ferry. It was an enjoyable ride on a big boat with a band playing. At the Cozumel docks, you transfer to a speedboat that brings you to the dive site. It is a longer way to get to the dive, but I enjoyed the ferry and also the brief time in Cozumel after the dive (to wait for the ferry back to Playa). For the ferry option we left at about 930am to catch the 10am ferry, and came back by the 3am ferry, reaching the dive shop about 4pm. In summary = Blue Life - Professional, Friendly, Flexible, First Class Dive Masters, Reasonable Equipment, Reasonable Pricing, Small Groups - Cant go wrong with them Diving - 5mm Wet suits, great visibility, good range of dive experiences, Must do a cenote.

5 star dive outfit From the start Andrea was quick in responding to emails and made planning our dive vacation simple. When Jen ran into trouble with her ears Andrea was quick to make changes so that she could dive near the end of our vacation. Valentina was my dive master for getting my Padi open water. She was incredibly knowledgeable and made sure to point out any bad habits before they became an issue. I would highly recommend Valentina for not only instructing safe diving but she really knows where all the animals hide along the reef. For my Cenote Dos ojs cavern dive Hugo was my dive master and you really can tell how much cave diving is one of his passions. I really enjoyed our trip out and the dive whole. Desided to revisit Cozumel and dive with Misael as my dive master. There is never enough air in your cylinder but Misael made the most of the time we had diving the Cozumel wall. Overall Blue life is a first rate group of people and I will be revisiting Mexico and most certainly diving with them again. Don

Amazing dive experience From the start diving with Blue Life was an excellent experience. Andrea provided prompt, accurate communication through email and was very personable, allowing us the opportunity to plan our dives prior to leaving for vacation. This was my first time diving on a reef and Valentina made it a wonderful experience. When I experienced difficulty equalizing she was able to help me and made the dive possible. She was very knowledgeable and knew were all the spots on the reef were that animals liked to hide in. Our last day of diving was with Misael out in Cozumel and wow! It was an amazing experience, the colour of the coral and variety of sea life were fantastic. Misael got us into the water quickly and we were able to make the most of our time under water. Overall, the trip was fantastic, all the staff we met were very friendly and loved to share their stories and adventures. I would highly recommend them for both beginner and experienced divers.

Great divecenter, even better guides! We had 10 dives with these guys, including Cozumel sites, a bullshark dive, and 6 different cenotes. All of them were perfect, and our guides and contact persons were professional, yet friendly and very flexible. We thank Leo, Misa, Hugo and Pepe for the good time and dives we had. The center is at a good location, close to the sea, it has good wifi, and nitrox and 15l tanks are complementary We had some rescheduling because the wind made the sea too wavey for diving, but we had constant updates from bluelife. They don\'t do the bullshark feeding, so we decided to do this with a different divecenter and I do recommend the feeding if you are a shark enthusiast. Other than that, they are a perfect choice for all types of diving

Perfect Combination of Professional and Personal - Thank you Blue Life I spent two days diving with Blue Life. The first day was to see the Cenotes, the second was to diving off of Cozumel. From the moment I reached out, Frank was super responsive and informative, it was extremely easy to interact, get information, and set everything up so once I arrived in Playa everything was already good to go. Nearing the dates of the dives, and after Andrea provided great information via email and followed up to make sure the experience was amazing! The shop is located right near the heart of Playa, and very easy to walk to, I walked from our hotel, The Grand Hyatt. Upon arrival to the shop, Leo and Jessica were extremely welcoming, and made me feel at home, offered coffee, and worked through getting all the gear ready to go. Valentina was our guide for Cenotes, we had a small (3 divers) group that was friendly and got along well. We drove to the Cenotes, the whole time Valentina giving us great information on Cenotes, the Playa area and a whole host of other things. She was easy to follow as a guide, provided great information on what we were doing, and overall really nice! The cenote dives themselves were beyond incredible, a must do bucket list item for every dives. We did the Pit and Dos Ojos, two different types of Cenotes, but both amazing in their own right. The next day we did Cozumel; we leave off of a shared dock really close to the shop, and were in a dive group of 4. It was about a 40 minute ride out to Cozumel. The diving was good, great visibility, beautiful coral and sea life. Overall, great experience, Blue Life made it super enjoyable from the first contact via email to a few days after the dives. If you have to prioritize your diving, Cenotes should be number 1!

I\'m so glad I had them there with me to help me feel comfortable getting back in the water. They both were very thorough, took their time communicating all the details and I really appreciated it. This is a group of organized, motivated dive professionals that really cares about giving divers the best possible experience. Did the 3-day Taste of Riviera Maya which was a day on the Playa reef, a day at Cozumel (Santa Rosa Wall, unbelievable!) both with Valentina and then the Dos Ojos Cenote with Pepe which was not only a fascinating Cavern dive but in the clearest water I\'ve ever seen or imagined. (Lots of stretches I could not actually see the water!) My wife is a free-diver, so they arranged a guide for her on the Cozumel and Cenote days, and she had an absolute blast with Dalai. Everything was arranged perfectly, from the pre-trip emails with Frank to help me select dives, to Yesika and Leo being in contact during our stay to figure which locations to dive on different days, as there was a bit of weather around and they were so great about assessing conditions to make sure we had good diving that day. Such reasonable rates for personalized dive plans with small groups, I think no more than 4 per dive master. On two of 3 dives, it was just me and the dive master, so this was a great time of year to dive. Valentina and Pepe were so thorough and safety-conscious in the pre-dive briefings, and once on the dive knew the best places to show the incredible variety of sealife on the reefs and the amazing formations in the Cenotes. I really felt everyone we met was down-to-earth and authentic, and focused on doing their best for us. These people love to dive, and love to show other divers just how incredible this area is, so their enthusiasm just shines brightly. Overall, my best diving experiences ever. (Even better than Kona, especially because of the variety of coral, sponges and fans and critters: huge lobsters and crabs, Eagle rays, BIG nurse shark, tons of various Morays, octopi, beautiful Shrimp, schools of Jacks, some Groupers, etc, etc) When we return to Playa, all I have to think about is finding a hotel closer to Blue Life, which should be easy: they\'re only a block from the beach!

Excellent Crew, Amazing Experience My husband and I did the Taste of the Riviera package where we did a Playa del Carmen, Cenote, and Cozumel dives. All dives and dive masters were excellent. We saw 1000s of fish, an eagle ray, lobsters, barracudas, eels, and we even did the bull shark dive. If you are visiting in the winter months, I highly recommend the bull shark dive. It was an experience I will never forget. Our guide, Laslo made us feel comfortable and taught us a lot about the sharks that live there. Frank and Yesika were both so kind and I will definitely dive with their shop when I come back to Mexico.

Wonderful scuba diving and great facility! My family had a great time scuba diving with Blue Life! Top notch facility, kind and patient instructors, and Frank (the owner) was great at communicating with me, starting with scheduling our open water course and providing us with great directions and instructions on what to bring, where to park, etc. Our assigned instructor, Leo, was great! Took the time to answer our questions, and told funny stories during our instruction. The dives themselves were great--a cenote, off the beach at Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel for the last day. We saw tons of sea life--barracudas, king crabs, turtles, moray eels, seahorses, and a GIANT eagle ray. Leo took the time to point out these animals to us, which really enhanced the experience. Everyone on the boat (captain, assistants, as well as the Blue Life instructors) was friendly, kind, and distracted us from our seasickness. A great experience--one we hope to repeat soon!

Blue Life is the way to go! We are a diving family of four and have dove all over the world and have found Blue Life to be one amazing scuba shop. The instructors were First Rate, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They were wonderful with our two young divers. Laslo was extremely knowledgeable and diligent. Hugo, our second Dive Master was very enthusiastic and showed us a lot of interesting underwater features and marine life. Frank the owner was exceptionally helpful and friendly, a great trouble shooter and we found out he was a world champion free diver! We really felt that we were part of their family. We would highly recommend Blue Life!

Fab time Thanks to Frank and his team for 3 days diving. Cozumel was fantastic and the Cenotes were stunning. Only wish I had more time to explore more. The service was great and a very friendly service from all the team. 5 stars

Best dive operation out there hands down When I travel I am generally disappointed by the dive operations that I encounter. While the diving may be stunning many of them lack the basic foundations in safety and standards. This is not the case at Blue Life. Frank was very accommodating in helping me get my cave course squared away along with some open water dives for me and my family very last minute. Hugo my instructor is extremely knowledgeable and taught an incredible course that was both very challenging and rewarding. During my stay I also had one day to get some open water dives done. Sofia was a terrific guide and her passion for her work is evident, she gave us nice long dives with plenty of stunning marine life. By the end of my stay I felt as at home at Blue Life as I do at my local dive shop. I could not recommend a better dive operation, no one does it better than Blue Life! Can\'t wait to go back

Safe and Professional! I\'m a newbie diver (less than 12 total dives) and was a little anxious prior to our dive in Cozumel, especially since my last time was over 3 years ago. Our divemaster Devin, patiently reviewed safety measures and walked me through our dive before we hit the water. I felt safe and confident going into my first dive and like a seasoned pro going into my second! Devin was super friendly, professional and wonderful to have as our divemaster. Highly recommend Blue Life!

Awesome experience Last year, my wife and I visited Riviera Maya. While we were there, we really wanted go for diving. Since Blue Life had superb reviews, I contacted and Fernanda helped me with arrangement. While were there, I decided to get my open water certificate, and while doing so my wife took the refresher course. Hugo took care of my wife and I as he was superb instructor with patience. He was also able to give us a shuttle service to rather far hotel that we were staying. We ended up going two ocean dives and one cenote dive. We were planned for three ocean dives, but due to severe weather, after waiting out a day Blue Life suggested and took us to a Cenote diving next day. Whole experience was superb and will definitely recommend to everyone. I know I am leaving a super late review as I was too busy with life. Me and my wife is planning to visit Riviera Maya next month and remembered that I forgot to post a promised review. If I can I will definitely contact Blue Life again. Only happy memories.

It\'s the People that make the Difference My 16 year old twins and I did 2 days of diving with Blue Life, a boat dive to the Santa Rosa Wall/ Yucab & Tormentos and a Cenotes dive to El Pit and Dos Ojos. We are all Advanced Open Water divers and this was just a spectacular experience. While the dive sites themselves were excellent it was really the Dive Guides, Devin and Hugo, that made them rank at the top of our diving adventures. Along with Marcela and Veronica who\'s communication from setting up the dives, payment, paperwork and even setting us up with a driver to and from our hotel.

Excellent Dive Shop If you go to any other Dive Shop you are settling for second best.. Bluelife is the best Veronica the dive shop manager is such a good person & makes you feel at home Marcela. What a pleasure to deal with her in setting up the dives up. She is very good at responding to and answering all your questions Devin Divemaster. Safety first & makes your dives very enjoyable. Stayed close & showed us many small creatures we may have missed ourselves Diving in Playa Del Carmen is really easy. Lots of fish & reef. Having dived at many islands in the Caribbean I can honestly say this Dive Shop deserves its 5 star reputation

Great Experience! Recommended. 3 days of diving completed with this great \'team\' during our family vacation. Pre trip booking and communications were clearly and promptly handled by \'front of shop\' Marcela - who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Added bonus is the ability to pay via PayPal! Expect to pre pay 50% and settle the rest during your visit. 2 days of the diving were OW referral for the young ladies in my family. They had great and attentive service and instruction from Devin and I was thrilled to be able to \'hang in the back\' of their dives videoing their drills and first experiences in the ocean. The boat service provided - 1 block from the store - was also excellent. Day 3 was a solo mission to Cozumel. I was provided a guide - Dalai - who was great company on the ferry to the island and provided top tier \'mexico city\' cab shortcuts to get us to and from the dive boat in super quick time. Dives were very good as I expected. Heartily recommend this young, friendly and welcoming team for family based diving.

Great crew, great gear, awesome diving! We researched dive companies before arriving in Playa del Carmen and went with Blue Life based on the reviews here. We were very happy that we did - the crew and the experience went above and beyond our expectations. We initially contacted Blue Life via email, they suggested we drop by to discuss dive sites, etc, but also advised we only needed to give them 24 hours notice for diving. We really appreciated the fact that we could choose the dive sites we wanted to visit with these guys, we don\'t often get that opportunity. We ended up doing two separate trips of two dives each: cenote diving at Jardine del Eden and Tajma Ha with Sarah; and Cozumel diving at Santa Rosa and Paraiso with Hugo. Both Sarah and Hugo were awesome dive guides - friendly, well organised, eco-aware and safety-conscious. Visiting at a slightly quieter time of year (June), we were also the only divers on both our trips. The gear we hired was in excellent condition and we were given solid briefings prior to all of the dives. Cenote diving has been on our bucket list for years and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Sarah was very clear in her instructions and monitored our progress and comfort throughout the dives. Both sites were spectacular. Jardine del Eden is a perfect introduction to cenote diving. The site was busy with day trippers, snorkellers and learner divers as the open cenote is just like a huge pool, but the caverns and swim-throughs were much less busy and the light show at the linked Coral cenote was beautiful (try and go on a sunny day for the best light). Our second dive at Tajma Ha - an intermediate level dive - was a touch more challenging, with greater depth variation and tighter swim-throughs. It was totally mind-blowing, with beautiful decorations, linked cenotes that we surfaced in, beautiful light, and a very cool halocline. We seriously loved both cenote dives and will definitely be back one day to do more of them. Our dives at Cozumel were also gorgeous - perfect temp, amazing visibility and beautiful, healthy reefs and marine life. Paraiso had a nice current, making for a fun drift dive. Hugo was great at searching out the cool and quirky marine life, even finding us a splendid toadfish, a beauty that\'s endemic to Cozumel. The dive costs included transport (a truck out to the cenotes and a boat ride over to Cozumel) and tanks, and we hired all of our gear for US$25 each. We were given snacks and water between dives on both days as well. We had a fantastic time diving with the team at Blue Life and would absolutely recommend them!

Excellent Cenote\\\'s Dives with Blue Life Wonderful diving operation run by really nice people. Reached out to them to help wrap up a certification I had started in Florida. The dives themselves were spectacular. Can\'t wait to go back and dive with them again.

Best Dive Outfit Around We booked our dive about 2 1/2 weeks before heading down. Before and during we were emailing back-and-forth with Marcella, who was always very quick to respond with clear information and answers for all our questions. The morning of our dive everything was handled smoothly and in as professional a manner as I could have wished. Our dive master, Sarah, was knowledgable and enthusiastic from the get go in addition to being patient with two newly certified diver (myself and another gentleman) and one on a three year hiatus (my father). She took into account the other teams on the boat, our skill, and the ocean...leading us on two awesome reef dives. She was very clear before the dive on what we could expect to encounter, the trip details, and expectations. She was also quick with water and snacks...especially water when it\'s easy to forget during the fun and excitement. When my father had buoyancy issues she worked to refocus him on his technique and turned what could have been a struggling dive into an awesome experience. During the dives she took care that all of us were safe, comfortable, and able to explore the variety of sea life from the tiny baby angelfish to a good 5+ foot moray eel hiding in an outcropping. We also ran into a couple treats: a large emperor helmet shell and a giant tulip shell. Unfortunately we only had one day before the end of our trip, but I talked with Sarah about the Cenote dives and cave certifications. Rest assured that those are next on my list and I look forward to the next trip to the area...hopefully very soon! Blue Life also does a great job maintaining their dive equipment and it\'s obvious they care for both their equipment and their customers with top notch service. Thank you Fernanda, Marcella, and Sarah. We will be back as soon as possible! :)

Very easy and professional I went to Playa Del Carmen for my first time this last week. This was my 5th overall dive - second trip after my open water cert. one year prior in Nevis. From booking and communicating via email ahead of time, to actual day of dive, it was nothing but fast, friendly and professional treatment. They are a small dive shop located within walking distance to the beach in Playa del Carmen. Their equipment is very well maintained and they have a full suite to offer. I have mask, snorkel and fins so I only needed a BC and Regulator. No problem they hooked me up and only charged me for what I needed where other shops it is an all or nothing deal! Sarah was my dive master and she is awesome and patient and she picked my up at the front door of my hotel as well as dropped me back off there in the end. White glove service with a smile in deed, and a very pretty smile at that! She was very patient and explained the entire process from getting gear together and on, to walking down to the beach and into the water/boat, to filling out the logbook in the end (complete with visual pictures of the fish we saw). Marcela was also wonderful the entire time communicating with me on email ahead of time to answer all my questions. If anything, I would point out two things you really should know ahead of time. I passed on the Cenotes due to time but really I think with my experience it would have been a good decision to do those. The dives we took were in very rough water, which just made it more work and tiring in general. I did not get sick but felt beat up afterwards and therefore less relaxed. You do enter in the beach and walk up to a boat and enter the boat (a group boat that many companies use) and when the water is rough it just takes more out of you. I noticed the entire time I was in the Playa del Carmen area, that the waters were rough so just be aware. The boat was open and nice and well equipped so like I said I did not get sea sick but with the entire conditions being so rough - it was tiring, up to and including surface time and decompression! The cenotes would be much less so. Also, I did end up getting Montezuma\'s revenge and I was concerned that it might have been from the water cooler on the boat, since I do not know where it was filled, but I did not get that until a good 18+ hours after the dive so I am just not sure. I would say just take bottled water with you to be safe. I had brought one with me but left it at the dive center since you enter the boat through the beach and Sarah explains to leave most all your items behind. Other than that I saw a ton of sea life including about 5 massive (larger than 5 feet long) green moray eels, spotted eels, barracuda, turtle, lobster, schools of fish etc. I very much recommend this company for your trip if you decide to dive while in that area.

Simply the best What can I say? I\'ve travelled and done all my dives with my boyfriend but I was solo on this trip. A little nervous. But blue life and my dive guide Rimas were beyond exceptional in making the dive absolutely amazing. So comforting so knowledgable and patient and sooooo passionate... I wouldn\'t go to any other dive shop in playa at all!!! Don\'t hesitate to dive with this dive shop you\'ll regret it.... I did some cenote dives aswell as Cozumel and WOW is all I can say.... it makes me sad they are so far away from Australia or is dive ALL the time...... great team, great equipment and very personal experience....

Returning to my Dive Center I did an explorer dive with Blue Life Diving which got me really excited about diving. Now that I am certified I came back to go for open water dives with the same team. They offer some great packages if u want to do several dives. If you have some questions they keep in touch with you all the time. I was pestering them with questions for a month and they explained everything patiently. Really a great experience I can not recommend them enough. For sure I will be back for another dive experience ;) Cheers Hasti

Excellent scuba cert & additional dives We selected this company due to the great reviews on TripAdvisor, followed by their excellent and responsive email communication, and we are very happy we worked with them. We had 2 people doing PADI open water certification on referral, and 1 person already certified. Each day we had a different guide - Sarah, Fernanda, Andrea, and Matthais (might be spelled wrong). All were highly knowledgeable, provided great instruction, were attentive to safety, and hit the perfect balance between competence and relaxed. All are bilingual English-Spanish, and Matthais speaks Flemish and French as well - I suspect the team can cover many language needs. The guides are all personable, friendly, and were a pleasure to spend time with. We put ourselves in their hands to select dive sites based on the weather and conditions. Since the winds and weather can shift, I recommend this. A few days in advance, we were instructed where to meet and at what time, based on whether we were taking the ferry to Cozumel, getting on a boat near the shop, or driving to a cenote. We did the first day of our PADI open water dives in Casa Cenote, which is a nice mostly-open cenote. Sarah set us up carefully and made sure all the equipment was in good shape, and reminded us how to set it all up properly and do safety checks. She was very attentive to our comfort levels as we worked through the various skills, and also ensured our 3rd diver was doing well. The second day we went to Cozumel with Fernanda. We met her at the ferry, and then took a taxi to the harbor where they had arranged a dive boat. The dive boat captain and crew were great - very competent and attentive, and Fernanda was also an excellent instructor. Cozumel is beautiful - the reef is in great condition. We saw nurse sharks and many fish. The third day we went to Chiken Ha with Andrea. This is a cavern cenote, and it was quite amazing. Andrea is clearly a highly skilled cave diver and her attention to safety and making sure we were doing ok with with compression was great. And, the empanadas they sell at this site are delicious - just what we needed after the dive. The last day we hit a couple of sites off the shore of Playa del Carmen with Matthais (Fernanda was also on the boat, guiding another couple using Nitrox). Again, the captain and crew were excellent, and the dives were beautiful. We rented a GoPro from them for the last 2 days, and they have already uploaded all the files to my DropBox. Without a doubt we will return to BlueLife. Now that we are Open Water certified, we can\'t wait to return and dive with them again.

Best dive school ever ... Recently got back from enjoying a fantastic time with Blue Life. Up until then I had my favourite dive school many thousands of miles away from Mexico, but after spending 8 days with them my opinion has changed. Nothing is too much of a problem for them, all you have to do is ask. From spending two and a half hours setting up Louie\'s and Deb\'s new Sidemount rigs on the first morning, to mentioning that a wreck would be nice and it being arranged for the next day, anything is possible. Fernanda and Sarah were super quick answering e-mails prior to arrival, pickups from hotel, equipment in good order, organisation for the Cozumel trips very smooth, attention to details, dive briefings, everything was first class. We were lucky enough to have Sarah for our whole trip who was brilliant. Cannot think of anything bad to say about her, other than if she asks you what you have done with the vehicle keys, ask her to check her bag before you spend too much time worrying that you have lost them (we won\'t mention my camera incident). There are many dive schools in PDC, but if you want one that provides everything you need, look no further than Blue Life. Many thanks to you all for a great time and I wish you continued success. Derek.

Great diving as always At first we were a bit weary of diving in Playa del Carmen (having done all our Mexico diving either at Akumal or Cozumel) but the dive guides at Blue Life (Gustavo, Rhimis and Andrea) made the experience a great one! We did two dives in the Playa area, two dives in Akumal and two in Cozumel. We took the fast boat across to Cozumel and it was way better than taking the ferry. It was great chatting to the other divers and dive guides. The boat captain spotted dolphins on the way back and stopped so we could appreciate their beauty. We appreciated that the guides took their time while diving which allowed us to get some good video footage and photographs. So much more relaxing when you can actually just hang out and enjoy the small things. Both Fernanda and Sarah at the dive shop were extremely helpful. They fetched us from our condo and after the dive brought us home again. If we return to Playa we will definitely dive with Blue Life.

Awesome Cozumel Diving! Nothing but great things to say about Blue Life Diving! My guide, Mathias, was outstanding and made the day so much fun! It had been almost 3 years since my last dive so I needed a lot of refreshing, which he was more than happy to do. A few minutes into the first dive, my nerves wore off and it was like I never stopped. We did two dives together in Cozumel and saw turtles, small sharks, rays, all kinds of beautiful sea life. Absolutely gorgeous and the water is so clear and beautiful. I felt very comfortable and safe the entire time with Mathias. It was really great to chat and get to know him better over the course of the day! Really awesome guy. I would love to come back to Playa del Carmen to do more diving with Mathias :) The cenotes are supposed to be some really cool dives as well. I booked last minute the day before and Blue Life was very organized and responsive. I never had to think twice about my safety or the logistics which was such a relief on vacation. They gave me the option to take a boat straight to the dive site in Cozumel (from Playa) or to take the ferry over, which I opted to do as I wanted meet the rest of my family in Cozumel. Outstanding! Sarah and Rimas run a tight ship. We spend a day diving with blue life. As a professional diver I value safety and customer service. This is exactly the type of outfit that you should dive with. Absolutely no reason to look elsewhere. The safety precautions were evident, but did not become an overbearing part of the trip. Great experience! Was originally planning on diving for two days during my week in mexico, but I ended up diving for 3 days, 6 dives in total which ends up being the \"taste of the mayan riviera\" package. If you\'ve never dove in the area I would definitely recommend it although they have packages to fit whatever your taste. I did 2 dives in cozumel, 2 in playa (including a bull shark dive!!!) And then 2 cenote dives at the pit and dos Ojos. All the dives were amazing. Dove with Hugo all 3 days and Fernanda joined us on the last day. Thoroughly enjoyed their professionalism and experience! Crazy Good Diving with Amazing team I went for 4 days of diving with the Blue Life team, with the planning done by Fernanda and Alex, and Hugo leading the dives. I took several courses for the Advanced SDI certification and Hugo seamlessly incorporated the in-water learning as part of the diving experience. I dove nitrox for 3 days and air for the last day. The variety of diving opportunities in the Playa del Carmen area is truly amazing, and with no prior experience in this area I relied heavily on Fernanda to put together a program and she delivered in spades. I did two dives near the Blue Life office in Playa, including one with bull sharks, the other a reef. The sharks were an amazing sight and not to be feared. We then did two dives in Akumal, which is famous for turtles. My wife and teenage daughter went snorkeling at the same time and had an amazing experience with Louis acting at a guide. On this dive we were joined by two friends who had limited diving experience, and one diver was pretty nervous after a bad experience during her open water course. Hugo ensured that these dives were flawless and memorable for all of us. FYI, Hugo also knows the absolute best taco stand in Mexico - seriously crazy good. Our third day were cenote (cave) dives at the Dos Ojos (two eyes) site. Truly a great experience, but may not be suitable if you are claustrophobic. This dive needs good buoyancy control so best to do this after a couple open water dives if you are a bit rusty. Transportation was all handled by Blue Life. This was just myself and Hugo, and was another great day. The fourth day was truly amazing - diving the wall in Cozumel. Blue Life took care of all ferry transportation from Playa, and transfer to the marina on Cozumel. This trip included a group of 6 divers and Hugo. We were joined at the boat by the captain and a second dive master/mate so there was plenty of staff per customer. There are very strong currents in this area and the safety briefing was thorough and showed that Blue Life had significant experience in this area. I had requested pricing and information from several other dive shops in Playa del Carmen, and what set Blue Life apart was Fernanda taking the time to put a package together with a set price schedule that was easy to understand. I only provided the basic outline of the sites I wanted to dive (cenote, sharks, the Wall). All of the other shops just sent me a price list and told me to pick things. Blue Life had an excellent web site which allowed me to research the itinerary and Fernanda got the itinerary right on the first draft - no changes needed!

I am a diving instructor myself so I\'m always looking for a friendly dive shop where diving is a passion and not a business ! This is what we found in blue life diving !! We went a first day to cozumel with Fernanda and everything was well organized with water, fruits provided and even someone to carry our bags on the way back as it was hot ! The second day we went to the pit and dos ojos (cenote) with Sarah and she shared her passion and knowledge with us in a very nice way. Everything went well and was really well organised. The dives were awesome and we will come back with them anytime. To tell you I would even work for them if they had a job for me in the future !! You can go and enjoy Mexican diving with blue life !! Trust us !! Cedric & elena

Diving Playa! Awesome experience w Blue Life! I have been diving for years and was impressed with their level of professionalism. I took my newly certified brother and niece on their first ocean dives! The staff, especially Fernanda, was exceptional in helping them to feel comfortable and enjoy their diving experience! They are a small dive shop which is great in giving more personalized attention! Will go back!

Excelente! Uno de los mejores centros de buceo en los que he estado. Un equipo muy profesional, muy cercanos, grupos reducidos en las inmersiones... Un lugar para repetir

Perfect Experience. In one word I\'ll describe the experience that I had with Blue Life as PERFECT. I could only afford myself, just few days for diving in Mexico. I had to have everything, perfectly set and coordinated. Blue Life made it simple. Great team, great place, great service. Thanks for doing your part on making my vacation, perfect. CU again.

*Fantastic* Where do I start?? After having some problems with our original holiday to create and changing at the last minute I was a bit fed up as I had planned all our trips...I think it changed for the best as I took last minute deal to Mexico... Now I had no time to do any research of the place nor dive centres around where we were staying...so I used the valuable wifi around the pool when we arrived, in search for dive centres... I narrowed it down to two... Next day we were off in search for the dive centres, first port of call was Blue life, We were greeted by a lovely young lady called Fernanda. After speaking for a short time I was thinking, this is the place for me. We spoke about trips I would like to do with my family (2boys and wife), and asked for a package to be put together. I also found out it was whale shark season. :) Pen to paper, Fernanda was great, able to plan things around other trips we had going on...she put the icing on the cake for our holiday.... Blue life were not able to do the visit to the whale sharks themselves but after a few phone calls she had things sorted..fantastic.. First trip was the whale sharks...out on a speed boat to the feeding ground and had an amazing time, not for the faint hearted, it\'s all go and would recommend being strong healthy swimmers, don\'t get me wrong you could stay on the boat like my wife (non swimmer) and get some action...FAR BETTER IN THE WATER ;) Received an evening phone call from Blue life to see how the trip went...nice touch. Next was Dad and lads only day... We were picked up by the diving instructor Hugo...(top class man..what he does not know is not worth knowing..very knowledgeable)...off to the pool for a try dive, test kit and knowledge review. Kids were in safe hands, Hugo took it easy and spoke well to give my boys the much valuable information needed for there dives ahead. Perfect morning then had a spot of lunch. To the beach in the afternoon to meet the boat...headed out and all in the water. Hugo took his time all the way through the dive and helped out any little issues the boys had... Perfect first dive.. Dive two same again..Hugo showed the boys a million and one things in the water even showing them a few tricks as they were more comfortable this time in the water...dives were complete and headed home... Two boys said it was the best day they had by far and loved every minute of it, both asking when they could go out again..that\'s all they talked about, the boy\'s fell asleep early, nice easy night for me and the wife :) Day after was me to head out on my own with Hugo and a few other divers to Cozumel reef....well what can I say... Fantastic dives, lot to see, sharks, coral and some of the largest fish I\'ve seen another perfect day :) Fernanda also recommend me to dive the cenote\'s in the package which I took on advice....Hugo was to be my dive master and promised me something special and exciting.... By did he not...WOW, he took me to dreamgate\' cenote. This place was fantastic, great formations, it\'s a must \"give it ago\". Experience is needed for buoyancy control....I think I may of found my next adventure...HUGO YOUR THE MAN ;) (Google this place!!) Had a wonderful time, I was ready to stay a extra week... I would fully recommend Fernanda, Hugo and all the team at Blue Life, I\'ve dived in many parts of the world and these guys run a tight well organised ship! Everything was catered for, for all my family needs...I\'m returning back to Mexico next year and my diving will all be booked through Blue Life. Thanks for such a fantastic time, you guys helped make some fabulous memories. 5 STAR PLUS.....

Perfect I dove with ny 4 daughters aged 20, 17, 15 and 12 and my main concern was safety as it was the first time they were diving. Everything went OK and we never had any problems. We dive 4 tanks, 2 in Playa plus 2 in Cozumel with 4 different persons from Blue Life (Hugo, Rimas, Sarah and Sussie), and i strongly suggest to use this company. Everything was easy and fine.

Absolutely Wonderful.. Now we know why Blue Life get so many 5 star rating. We did six days of diving reef, cenotes and sidemount training. Fernada even guided us on our 2 tank boat dive and spotted a \"Pea\" very young, tiny Trunk Fish. She was so happy and the mood was set for the rest of our time. We were totally pleased with all our guides and sidemount instruction. Thank you all again Fernada, Sara, Rimas and especially, patient instructor Suzy. We would highly recommend \"Blue Life\" for safe diving and great instruction.

Awesome service. I did 4 dives with Blue Life in early June and had an amazing time. If you are an experienced diver and like personal service in small groups this is your dive shop. I live in Denver and don\'t get to dive as much as I would like so it\'s important that I select a knowledgeable and professional dive shop. Blue Life was spectacular and Hugo and Vale are great people and fun to dive with. I will be back and diving with Blue Life soon!!

An amazing 3 days of diving with Blue Life in PDC/Cozumel!! My wife and I stayed 5 days in PDC and spent 3 days diving with Blue Life. I spoke with a few other shops (all highly rated on TA), but went with Fernanda at BL since she was great at communicating quickly and thoroughly via email. We did a wreck dive in PDC with Hugo the first day. He was awesome in making sure my wife was comfortable the entire time and guided her safely through the wreck. It was an incredible experience going through the multiple levels of the wreck. Our next two days were spent diving Cozumel with Valentina. She was amazing (always smiling even though it\'s an incredibly physically demanding job moving people and equipment to and from the island and guiding dives everyday) and went out of her way to make sure everyone was comfortable and safe the entire time. Vale even spotted the reclusive Splendid Toadfish and we were all able to catch a view of the little bearded guy! Fernanda, Hugo, and Vale definitely made our first dive trip to the area an unforgettable one. We dove the Santa Rosa wall and Palancar with BL and can\'t wait to continue exploring PDC/Cozumel with them in the future!

Fun, Safe and Professional The Blue Life team are highly experienced and professional. It\'s important to them that their divers have a fun time in the cenotes, caves and ocean, while being safe, using the best equipment and being properly briefed. This dive operation is much more than those cookie cutter dive shops. At Blue Life you are important, and you really feel it when you dive with them.

Great dives and excellent guides We did two days of diving - Cozumel and Dos Ojos with Blue Life and we enjoyed ourselves and their excellent service. Sarah is a wealth of information and spared no details to safety and when it came to pointing out tiny little critters! Hugo took us diving in the Dos Ojos cenote. It was our first time diving in caves/caverns but he made us feel very safe and we would definitely come back to dive with Blue Life next time we are in Playa Del Carmen.

First time diving with very friendly team! I just did my PADI open water certification with Blue life. I chose them based on the reviews, which very well deserved! From the planning to the actual dives, everything was organized perfectly, very responsive to all questions via email. But really it\'s how friendly the people are: thank you Valentina and Fernanda for making my stay such an amazing vacation! The training was well organized too, first in the swimming pool, then ocean, very good explanations. Although it was my first time so I can\'t really compare, the equipment was really good. They took the time to answer all questions. I also did the Cozumel dive, which was the highlight of the experience, so beautiful! I hope to be back soon!

Cenote and Cozumel Scuba Diving Thank you Hugo and Velo for great diving! Very professional and safe 100%! Blue Life is convenient location in Playa Very nice to have the personal attention provided by all the staff members during our trip planning, courses and dives. Dives include lunch, snacks, water and rides by clean air conditioned van to Cenotes or taxi to boat.

What every dive shop should strive to be I booked my trip to Playa in less than a week. Fernanda and Sarah were great in helping me organize my dives and created a customized dive package for me that really worked out perfectly. But before I get into the individual dives, I knew Blue Life was the dive shop for me when they recommended that I should NOT dive the afternoon I got there. My flight arrived in the late morning and it would have cut things really close to make the afternoon boat but I wanted to get in as much diving as I could on this trip so I inquired about making the afternoon boat on that day. Blue Life recommended that I take the afternoon off because there was a good chance that I would miss the boat and I would be super tired from traveling. Well they were absolutely right and I am glad I listened to their advice. I would have made it on time if I went to the diveshop directly from the airport, but I was so tired after such an early morning flight that if I had gone diving I would have been miserable and it would have been a bit unsafe. This really showed me that Blue Life is more about safety and making sure their divers are enjoying themselves rather than making as much $$ as possible (which unfortunately many dive shops are more concerned with). The next day I did 3 dives in Cozumel with Rimas. On all three dives, it was just me, Rimas and one other diver. Rimas was an awesome dive guide. He was very thorough in his pre-dive briefing and it was clear that safety was #1. He also made sure I maximized my bottom-time. On my third dive, the other diver was a beginner and I was a bit nervous that he was going to blow through his air quickly. I think Rimas was thinking the same thing so he asked the first mate of the boat who was also a divemaster/instructor to dive with us. After the beginner diver went through his air rather quickly, Rimas ascended with him and I stayed down for a bit longer with the other dive guide. I don\'t know many dive shops that would have done this for one diver. The next day I went on 4 dives with Rimas in Playa. The 4 dives were great because it was just me and him. I love one on one dives and half of my dives with Blue Life were one on one. I felt like I was back in my open water course from all the personal attention. On my final day of diving I did 3 dives at two different Cenotes with Hugo. The first two tanks were at Dos Ojos. Hugo was great with his pre-dive briefing and was a great guide. It was my first time cavern diving but I felt completely safe. I did dive with 3 other divers who had just gotten their open-water but it wasn\'t as bad as I thought it was going to be. My last dive of the day and the last dive of my trip was at a different Cenote (Tajmaha) and this was my favorite dive of the entire trip. It helped that this was another one on one dive and our bottom time was much, much longer than my dives at Dos Ojos. Hugo also took me on a route that I think was the opposite direction of the other divers there so it felt like we were the only divers in that Cenote. I also liked that Hugo told me the history of the Cenotes and the current state as well. Some quick stats: 10 dives total 5 one-on-one dives Average dive group size: 1.9 divers/guide (which is insanely low) Rimas and Hugo were incredible guides and really good people too. I met some of the other dive shop people and they were all really nice and I\'m sure are great guides/instructors. But what really stands out is that you can tell they really love what they do and love diving, and that attitude makes it a better experience for the divers. I will definitely be back in Playa to dive with Blue Life again as there are many more Cenotes that I would like to dive. *Don\'t forget to tip your Dive Guide and Crew! The generally accepted practice is $5-10 PER TANK. Tipping is obviously your choice but it\'s kind of a D move not to.

Fantastic Diving. Wonderful Staff. This shop is situated on the \"mellow\" edge of town, away from the fray of Playa del Carmen\'s main strip, 10th Avenue. The relaxed vibe that pervades the shop takes the frenetic human temperature down to more acceptable levels, a welcome respite from the din and souvenir palaces just a few blocks away. For divers looking for a more personalized approach, the dedicated crew that run this delightful outfit will customize your diving trips and strive to make everything work. If cenote diving is your thing, or if you\'d like to add such an experience to a log book (as I did), the crew here provide expert guidance--they are trained cave divers. Our family, with varying degrees of skills, took the plunge with Hugo and Remus, diving Cozumel and the reef off Playa. Hugo conducted open-water certification dives for our 10-year-old, and Fernanda took care of our questions and bookings (and recommended local eateries as well). Rental prices are reasonable and the equipment is in good shape. Highly recommended!

Cave Diving in the Cenotes of Riveria Maya I just returned from a week of diving with the staff at Blue Life Diving. Day one, Vale and I took the ferry to dive in Cozumel. I love diving in Cozumel. The remaining 6 days I went cave diving with Hugo as my guide. We visited a different cave system each day; it was fantastic. Both of the guides were personable, safety conscious and very knowledgable about the area and its dive sites. Last year, I took a two week course in side mount, cavern and cave diving at Blue Life. Interested in exploring a new chapter in diving? If so, investigate the options at Blue Life. You can feel comfortable diving with the personnel there; you will be in good hands. Charles.

Great experience getting OW and AOW certified with Blue Life! I learned how to dive in 5 days with Valentina at Blue Life - and it was a fantastic experience! Would definitely recommend. My instructor made me feel very safe and did a great job explaining diving concepts. When I struggled with a particular skill, like clearing the mask, she was very patient and gave me great tips to overcome the challenge. Got to dive at some very beautiful sites in Playa and Cozumel!

My Happy Blue Adventures At the end of March, I was back in Playa and I decided to try this dive centre out due to location and Tripadvisor reviews and I was not disappointed. This is a professional and friendly dive shop walking distance from the ocean. My DM Valentina (ocean) and Simon (cenotes) were fantastic (!!!) and the Office Manager Fernanda promptly responded to all my inquiries. I even added a last minute snorkel trip with my boyfriend (he doesn\'t dive) to the cenotes and had a great time with our driver/guide Suzy. I will definitely use them again when I go back to Playa del Carmen.

Super 3 days Just returned from 3 days diving with my 14 year old son and the crew at Blue Life. They did an outstanding job, and the 3 days were varied (Playa, Cozumel and Cenotes) and terrific fun. All the guides were super attentive and focused on our enjoyment, and were enthusiastic about both the diving and each of the sites. I want to make special mention of Hugo and Sarah who were were both excellent instructors and a lot of fun to be with and Fernanda who runs the office with such a great attitude. Thanks guys!

bucket list cenote diving After a week of drift diving Cozumel, added a few days in Cancun with plans to do a couple of cenote dives. Well, expectations were exceeded, our DM, Simon, was our DM, very safety concious & experienced. An \"other worldly\" experience, glad we had a serious DM, would not have wanted to do 1st cenote diving with a company or DM with less experience, if open water diving can kill you, cenote diving can do it 4x as easy. Would definately go back. My 130 dives are not big time, but have enough to know a quality, customer service driven dive company when I experience 1. Fernanda, the shop & dive coordinator, was very prompt @ answering all my pre-trip questions, like she wanted us to join them, what a concdept.

Perfect! Blue Life was complete perfection from beginning to end! Fernanda assisted me from afar as I planned a three day dive trip for my son 19 (who was nearly finished with his PADI certification) and myself who hadn\'t been diving in 23 years. She stayed in touch regularly with me and responded to my multiple questions quickly and completely. I felt very comfortable heading in to this trip knowing that she was in charge of us. Upon our arrival to Playa del Carmen the weather forecast was windy for our dive days but Fernanda quickly dealt with it by steering us to the dives that would be safe and would best suit our desires as well as get us diving. Since we could not dive directly from Playa del Carmen due to the waves, she suggested a ferry trip to Cozumel for our first day and linked us with Sarah whom we befriended immediately. Sarah was awesome! She was organized, professional, calm and friendly as she lead our team of divers and instructed my son on his last check out dive for certification. We were able to make two dives on that first day and with visibility at 100+ feet we saw spectacular aquatic life including a moray eel out in full, a spotted sting ray, a sea turtle, so many different beautiful fish and corals. The entire time Sarah was checking on our comfort and helping both my son and I with our skills. The second day was still windy so both Sarah and Fernanda suggested that we try the cenotes which are exclusive to this area in Mexico. Knowing that I was less than confident in low visibility and close quarters, Sarah drove us to Casa Cenote the most open of the cenotes. This type of diving offered us an opportunity that I am forever thankful for. For our second dive that day Sarah packed up all of our gear (something she did with every dive which made my experience a breeze!) and drove us to Jardin de Eden centote where, by choice, I decided to snorkel while my son who was confident and capable by then enjoyed another spectacular dive. By the third day of diving my son went on his own with another dive master who was equally qualified and they did a two tank dive in more advanced centotes which my son took video of and cannot stop talking about! Six dives in three days, all thoroughly organized and orchestrated flawlessly; each amazing and diverse! The entire experience made for a trip of a lifetime for my son and I. I cannot thank Fernanda, Sarah and the entire Blue Life team enough for this experience. I recommend anyone traveling to this part of Mexico to book snorkeling or diving trips with this trustworthy group of professionals!

Ken R – March 02, 2016

Very nice diving with the Blue Life team My wife and I fully enjoyed our Taste of the Riviera Maya dive package we purchased through Blue Life dive shop in Playa del Carmen. Our first dive was cancelled due to poor weather conditions at Cozumel, but Hugo our Divemaster was nice enough to take us to Cenote Dos Ojos for our cavern dive that day instead. We had two newer divers with us and I had some initial buoyancy issues, but Hugo was a great help. We thoroughly enjoyed the Bat Cave and the Barbie Line. Our second dive we made it out to Cozumel and had another couple of great dives to the Santa Rosa Wall and the Paradise Reef with Valentina where we some some beautiful reefs and a multitude of underwater sea life including a beautiful ray. Our last dives were off Playa del Carmen with Hugo and were just as fantastic as the ones off Cozumel! I would not hesitate to recommend Blue Life to anyone looking to have a safe and wonderful dive trip. The entire experience with Sarah helping through timely answered emails and Fernanda assisting with logistics once in town, it was very pleasurable and easy. When we come back to the Playa del Carmen area, we will definitely look up Blue Life! - Ken & Rebecca Rice

Exceeds expectations From the beginning planning phase, Blue Life was exceptional. Quick to respond; called me to answer questions, and followed up on everything. The thing that really impressed me was their professionalism, flexability and pricing. They put together a package based on what WE wanted, not the standard \"this is what you can have\". I really wanted to snorkle with the sailfish, and although we came up empty handed (nature you know), they were one of the few companies that went out any day of the week, versus only a couple. The instructors were all top notch. We dove with Sarah most of the time and she was excellent. I have a bad back and she carried my tanks and helped in any way necessary. She let us dive our computers and air and while she pointed out things of interest, she was not not over restrictive. We dove with a newly certified diver as well, which was a concern, but she handled it perfect. She was attentive to him, kept her eye on us, and let us dive our computer. They checked weather daily to see which of the dives would be best on what day. I would dive with them again any day and I am an advanced diver with over 400 dives. They are located a short walk from the beach. There are no docks in Playa so you wade out and climb onto the boat wearing/carrying your gear. They have rinse tanks, took good care of our gear and were all very friendly and accomodating. Fernanda manages the office and it is apparent that they all work together as a team. I highly recommend them.

Diving was spectacular I did my open-dive sessions for certification with Sarah at Blue Life and the experience was excellent. Sarah is a true professional who puts the client\'s interest/skills first. We did two dives in Playa, two off of Cozumel and two in nearby cenotes, and each was a great experience. Blue Life made it so easy by providing all the equipment, snacks and great sandwiches. I also enjoyed spending time with the others at Blue Life (Fernanda, Rimas, Frank, etc.) who were very familiar with the area and recommended good places to go. It was great fun to be with such nice people.

Amazing diving and snorkeling!!! We are 60-somethings who have just returned from a 2 1/2 week exploration of the Yucatan. We are so happy that Blue Life was a part of that adventure! The staff is professional, personable, smart, safety conscious, and fun! Sarah, Rimas, Fernanda, Simon, Hugo, and Frank are incredibly good at what they do. We felt well cared for every step of the way. My husband completed his open dive portion of his SCUBA certification with Sarah, who is a great teacher. He had a chance to dive off the coast of Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, and also did two cenote dives. I snorkeled with Rimas, first at Dos Ojos (who knew I could be encouraged to enter a bat cave??), then at Casa Cenote and then at Grand Cenote. All three were different and amazing in their own ways. Swimming in an aquarium is delightful, and Grand Cenote has turtles!! We both always felt safe and well instructed. All gear was provided (wet suits are good in cenotes). We had our own prescription masks, but Blue Life provided eveything else ... even towels. All we needed was a change of clothes, some water shoes, and an underwater camera. They even brought along yummy sandwiches and fruit as well as water. After our snorkel at Dos Ojos we had a delicious lunch at Juanita\'s, where we enjoyed some yummy tacos and a sweet potato/ honey amuse bouche. I can\'t say enough about our time with the Blue Lifers ... if you are planning to dive or snorkel in the Yucatan, don\'t look anywhere else!

Awesome diving! I went diving with my family for 2 days with Blue Life Diving! It was just amazing!!! The guides/instuctors (Hugo, Rimas, Simon) were safe, patient, enthusiast- just great !! Oh and did I mentionned cute ahahah ;-) We had one guide per 1-2 divers so that was awesome as we could stay underwater longer when the other ones ran low on air! It was easy to get in touch with them by mail or Facebook if we had an issue (ear problem) or a change of plan. I dove in a lot of places and Blue Life Diving is one of my favorite and I recommend it to anyone who knows how to appreciate the ocean!! Thank you Blue Diving for making my trip even better!! Amazing diving experience with Blue Life Diving Let me start by saying that Blue Life Diving far exceeded my expectations! My wife and I were staying the Playa del Carmen area for a week vacation and we wanted to do some diving (we\'re both certified divers). We were hoping to dive both on the Mayan side and over at Cozumel. Blue Life had a package that accommodated us being able to do both - perfect! We booked the Ocean Blue package. Fernanda worked her magic making all the arrangements including arranging our transportation for us (it was cheaper through Blue Life than through our hotel). Fernanda did an absolutely superb job keeping us informed where we were going and on which day. She even accommodated my request to sneak in a couple of cenotes dives (which were amazing) above the standard diving package. Our dive masters (we had 3 different dive masters) were absolutely fantastic. Fernanda\'s logistics and customer service was amazing. Our overall experience diving with Blue Life couldn\'t have been better. Personally, I would not hesitant to recommend them to anyone (and in fact, I have recommended them to friends already). Next time I\'m vacationing in the Mayan area, I WILL be diving with Blue Life again! Thanks again Blue Life! I can\'t wait for the next time.

The best Dive Centre to dive in Playa!!!!! When I saw that Blue Life did not have a single below average review, I though this is too good to be true. But after diving with them for 4 days I saw that it is actually true. I have dove many parts of the world and I put Blue Life in the top three dive centre of all. The experience: the staff: all of them, they are great. The instructors; as a photographer I am a difficult customer to service, but Sarah and Roxy did a great job, guiding safely to best spots and allowing me to take good pictures. The organisation: top of the class. The rental equipment: more than expected.

Great dive shop, super friendly staff! My husband and I went to Playa del Carmen for New Year holidays, and our goal was to dive as much as possible. We picked Blue Life because of its good review here on TripAdvisor and we weren\'t disappointed! The staff and instructors were super friendly, and did everything they could to arrange the dives as we wished. We dove two days in Cozumel, one in Playa del Carmen, including the bull shark dive, and Fernanda even arranged three dives at the Cenotes on January 1st, when most dive shops are closed. We highly recommend Blue Life! We had a wonderful experience and are looking forward to diving with them again!

Best staff, most accommodating to fit my vacation schedule. Friendly staff in a new store location. Excellent communication throughout. A week before my scheduled family vacation I emailed blue life based on trip advisor reviews. Fernanda put together a package that met my needs at a reasonable price. On the first planned diving day I was unavoidably detained and called to cancel that day. I did get a partial refund, although I wasn\'t expecting it. The next day I was paired up with Nate, visiting from Utah, and dove Dos Ojos Cenote with Hugo guiding us. Meanwhile my wife and daughter snorkeled the same cenote with Fernanda guiding them. The day finished off with a nice meal at a local restaurant. The next day we ferried over to Cozumel (ferry price included) and did 2 dives in Cozumel National Park. On the way over and back it was pouring rain with rough seas but the weather was perfect for diving with calm seas. I think Hugo had a connection to change the weather for our dives.... Overall it was an excellent experience, no negative comments at all. I will return next time I vacation in the Riviera Maya.

Great staff and outstanding diving experience We enjoyed an amazing day of diving a couple of weeks ago, thanks to the great staff at Blue Life. I bumped into Hugo outside the shop on Christmas day and from then on we were impressed by the customer service that followed. Fernanda gave us honest and enthusiastic advice about our best options, and even came to find us at our hotel the day before our dive to confirm the details! The three of us - my wife Lisa, son Evan and I - had a perfect dive day in Cozumel. Valentina, our guide, was charming and helpful, and made us feel confident and safe while pointing out all the great sea life on the reef. The whole experience was stress-free and thoroughly enjoyable. I strongly recommend this shop to anyone going to Playa for some diving. Thanks again! Ian.

Great Dive Trip and Training! We used Blue Life due to the Tripadvisor reviews, and were not disappointed. While the weather conspired to keep us from diving with the bulls, we did end up going to Cozumel, which was fantastic. Many thanks to Sarah for training me on nitrox (and Blue Life for certifying me), and to Valentina, la piba charrua, for serving as our dive master that day (and keeping a hawk\'s eye on my father, who had trouble with his bouyancy). And especially to Fernanda, who helped us plan and determine our dives, and had the patience to work with us during weather delays. Our dives couldn\'t have been better - I highly recommend Blue Life for your Cozumel dive! I have no constructive criticism to offer Blue Life, and hope that I will get back to QR soon, to do the Cozumel wall again, and hopefully the bulls and a cenote. Many thanks for being a highlight of our vacation. Very Respectfully, Luke

Excellent team in an incredible location... I was a solo traveller to Playa in Nov 15 staying at the Riu Yucatan, looking to move from being a just-trained Open Water Diver to being a Rescue Diver. Over the space of the two weeks, Sarah successfully took me through the Advanced Open Water, Nitrox, Emergency First Responder and Rescue Diver courses, making me a much better Diver along the way! As I hadn\'t dived since my Open Water almost a year previously, we started with some easier shallow dives (albeit on some rather rough seas... as it was my first ocean dive I quickly learn that little boats and rough seas make for a rather seasick diver!). It was a short 100m walk from the Shop to the boat pickup, although I still struggle to carry two tanks... The training aspects took place in various areas including the Playa Reefs, a nearby cenote for the confined aspects, and Akumal (with a rather large turtle being spotted resting on the reef!). The EFR course took place at the shop and was a useful exercise in preparing for if something goes wrong whilst on your Dives. The Rescue course was certainly different to the other course, with the focus being on both looking after yourself whilst Diving, being able to identify problems before they happen both with yourself and other divers, and being able to help when things go wrong. The most important part of these courses for me was that it was one-to-one throughout, giving the best chance of picking everything up and going over the more challenging aspects a couple of times. After completing the courses, I signed up to a three-day dive package including two dives at Dos Ojos (a Cenote close to Tulum), two dives over at Cozumel, and two dives on the Playa Reefs. The Dos Ojos dives led by Hugo, were incredible to see and thanks to those dives, I intend to return next year to undertake the Cavern diving course (not sure if Cave diving is really for me just yet!). a 10 minute drive from the main road through the jungle before finally entering the clearing and finding the caven entrance. The two dives took different routes with the first leading to the bat cave. The next two dives at Cozumel were the toughest, purely because of the need to be at the ferry port by 7.30am - the rest of the day was a breeze! Sarah met me at the port and we took the ferry over (about 45min and a pretty smooth ride - albeit with pretty cheesy adverts throughout). Upon arriving, we took a quick taxi over to the marina and were met by our boat for the day and the other divers. The Reefs at Cozumel are on a whole different level to those at Playa, with much larger formations and arches to swim under and around. A deep dive against the wall with the deep blue on one side and the coral formations on the other is a great experience! The final Dives were back on the Playa Reefs with Dive one being on the wreck! This was my first wreck dive and whilst the strong current made it a serious workout, it was a great wreck to see! Dive two... Throughout the trip I\'d been pestering Sarah because I wanted to see the Bull Sharks, however as my trip was quite early in the month, they hadn\'t yet arrived. As a last minute change of plan, for the final dive of my trip, we\'d be looking to see if they\'d arrived yet! Whilst most of the dive sites are quite far out, the sharks like to congregate surprisingly close to the hotel complexes... We descended down and waited a few minutes. At first, I thought we were going to be let down, but then shadows in the distance were spotted (and the Jaws theme started playing in my head). We stayed in a tight group as the 7/8 large Bull Sharks approached and started circling us. 30 minutes later it was time to ascend after a Dive experience that will stay with me forever! And most importantly, I kept all limbs. Sarah was an excellent instructor and somehow put up with all of my questions (seriously... a LOT of questions) throughout! I\'ll definitely be returning next year to Cavern dive, and hopefully look to start my Dive Master after that.

Hugo and Sarah were top-notch instructors and the whole team was awesome! My boyfriend and I walked over to Blue Life based on the overwhelming number of rave reviews online. We weren\'t disappointed. Fernanda and Sarah were sitting there, chilling after a dive (Sarah\'s hair was still drying), and they were friendly, personable, knowledgeable, and helped us problem-solve to find the best combination of dives for Jeff, who was more experienced, to dive with me, who was still getting my open-water certification. We arranged for 4 dives in two days for my certification, and Jeff did an additional cenote dive with Sarah on the 4th day. Hugo was our guy the first day, and he\'s patient, kind, very knowledgable, and put me at total ease with his wanrth, humor, and experience. I learned a ton from him the first day. We dove off of Playa del Carmen. Day two Sarah was with us. She was amazing- fun to be around, experienced, and very patient with me, who was a little overwhelmed by the sheer amazingness of our Cozumel dive. The first one I made mistakes (lost my weight belt, accidentally inflated vest when trying to deflate, panicked a bit in moments for some reason) and she was with me and corrected me with great patience and skill the first dive, which was eye-poppingly beautiful (Santa Ana Wall), and we were able to have a great time with no blips the second dive. Jeff had an incredible experience with Sarah on day three, and this was his first cenote dive. I would strongly recommend Blue Life to anyone diving in the Playa del Carmen area.

Had an awesome day! Thanks to Sarah and Fernanda for an enjoyable dive today. Sarah was awesome in pointing out various sea life. They were very professional and attentive to details making for a safe and great dive, at the same time, we had a few good laughs. I would recommend them. They were with a 10 minute walk from where I was staying at the Royal.

Fantastic experience. Amazing people. I stumbled upon Blue Life Diving by sheer luck, while looking to finish my PADI certificate. The entire team was amazing, from Fancesca (the front desk staff) who booked my dive the same day within an hour, to Hugo (the instructor and dive master) that kept me safe and took me to the most amazing dive places Playa del Carmen has to offer, to Sarah and Frank that took matters into their own hands and got my PADI certificate issued, despite the PADI site being down for a couple of days. An A+ experience. I highly recommend visiting Blue Life if you\'re looking for an awesome dive experience in Playa del Carmen or Cozumel!

Tailored dive package with great service! Before our trip we corresponded with Courtney and Sarah, both of which were very helpful in creating a dive package that my boyfriend and I wished to do. The diving they recommended in Cozumel was great diving. Our dive guide, Hugo, showed us a great time and ensured our safety. The second day of diving in the cenotes with Hugo was an unbelievable experience for us. We did not have previous experience cavern diving, so Hugo gave us extensive safety briefings and lead us through 3 caverns. I highly recommend diving the cenotes, especially with Blue Life. Our dive group only consisted of myself and my boyfriend, so you can\'t ask for a better dive experience.

Wonderful Experience I reached out to Blue Life based on reviews in Tripadvisor. Sarah led the dive expedition and did a fantastic job. In my nine years of diving, she provided the best pre-dive briefing I have ever had. I\'m not the most experienced drift diver and Sarah made me feel comfortable and aware of what was to be expected. It was the relaxing dive I had hoped to have while visiting Playa. Well done!

Great diving with Hugo from Blue Life Very happy with the service, one step ahead of the other dive shops in playa. They customized my trips to what I wanted to do and I had one dive guide to myself, who was great! Thanks Hugo! If you are looking for the best dive shop in playa, this is it! Will be booking again with them in the future, even if there is a dive shop in my hotel. Patrick Montreal, Canada

5 star service My daughter and I were incredibly fortunate to visit Playa Del Carmen and dive with Hugo September 15-18th. We were treated like royalty as we dove the Playa reef, Cozumel and the epic Dos Ojos Cenote. The outfit they teamed up with on Cozumel Blue Magic Scuba had a fast little dive boat that flew by the others and put us on the spot first. If ever I wished I had a movie of a dive it was drifting the crystal clear waters of that spectacular wall. I spotted a lifetime giant lobster duo of at least 20 pounds each saw a huge nurse shark rolling in the sand and never ending schools of thousands of beautiful fish. Dos Ojos was a dive I also highly recommend although I did have a little trepidation to begin with and even though the jungle is hot and humid be sure and bring that 5 mil full suit because after 2 nice long dives in the ethereal gin clear waters I was a little chilly in just a shorty and hood. I am forever grateful that Hugo and Simon helped haul our gear down I don\'t think I could have done it other wise. To top it off we got our Nitrox cert thanks to Sarah and Hugo and all the other people I\'m sure are helping behind the scenes! Thanks again, we\'ll be back!

Great dives with great guys! Just got back from a two week trip in Playa and Tulum with a group of friends. I booked the 3 days package which included a day at Cozumel, playa and a the Cenotes. (Ended up booking another two days later on as well!) Really good if you want to enjoy an Ocean dive and also try out something different with the cavern diving at the cenotes. Frank and his team are all super friendly and make sure you have a fun and relaxing time diving!! All really experienced and as a fairly inexperienced diver I felt like a learnt a lot from diving with them! I had the pleasure of diving with Josiah and Raphael who were both really chilled out and friendly and made sure I was looked after! They\'ve also for a few stories to tell to keep you entertained on the boat ride out to the site...... Super easy to book it all as well and payment can be done via PayPal which saves you having to draw out money or use your card. Would defo recommend Blue Life for all levels of divers! Cassandra.

Personal and Professional I spent three days diving with Blue Life Diving in early July 2015 and could not have been happier. Every interaction with them was personal and professional. Let\'s start with Sarah, who was always quick to respond to my email inquiries - and there were many. She was incredibly helpful, providing me her own recommendations (when I asked for them) and was always polite and never seemed like I was being a bother. She was more than happy to customize my dive package to fit my specific interests, and even gave the option for a game-time decision on where to go for my last day of diving (I chose another day of cenotes). Then, there was Remis - he was amazing! I dove with him two days in a row and every day was met with a warm greeting and an excitement for the day ahead. That excitement never left him - even when we found out that the boat moved to a different dock and we had to change plans quickly to make our charter. As a dive guide he was amazing. I\'ve never seen anyone so completely comfortable in the water and with text-book trim. Seriously - he didn\'t move in between frog kicks and was perfectly level (unbelievable). He was also very friendly and informative, showing us all the interesting sites (in the cenotes) and acquatic life (in Cozumel) or sharing his excitement over the things we saw on our dive - making it feel like a unique and special experience. Then there was Hugo, who I dove with on my last cenote dives. Like the others, he was very friendly and passionate for the dives. He was also taking an adventure dive student with us, but made the whole experience seamless for both of us (I\'m an MSD). He was also quick to pick up on and casually discuss the slight anxiety of the student diver with her. After ensuring she was at ease and up for the dive, we proceeded and all three of us had a great day. Even after all the dives were over I received another email from Sarah asking how they went. Now, that\'s how you know that they really care for your experience, not just the money. Next time I\'m in Playa, I know which shop I\'m using again. Thank you all for a fantastic experience! Brent

The BEST Cave and Cavern Diving with Blue Life Diving!!!! We dove for 4 straight days and did the Taj Mahal, Angelita, Pit, Car Wash, Grand and Dos Ojos cenotes. Our divemaster, Hugo, was outstanding. He was a great diver and even better host. Blue Life Diving scheduled our whole week which included a day on a private boat drift diving in Cozumel. If you want a great week of diving look no further than Blue Life and their owner Frank Gutierrez. From start to finish we received the most amazing service and experience. I\'ve travelled all round the world and Blue Life truly delivers over and above. If you\'re looking for a fantastic professional service then this is the dive company for you.

Great Experience!! With over 100 dive operaters in Playa, it\'s tough to choose. However, I would definitely recommend Blue Life. I was staying in Playa for 2 months and wanted to get back into diving. It had been over 5 years since I last dived. I had contacted another competing outfit first, but their follow up was poor. In contrast, Sarah at Blue Life was fantastic about communicating and following up throughout the 3 dive outings I did with them (i.e. I did their 3 dive package .. Playa reef dive, Cozumel drift dive, and Cenote dive at Dos Ojos which is a great offering). I did a morning refresher at a training pool with Hugo and then an afternoon Playa reef dive. A couple of weeks later (Blue Life was great about being flexible about scheduling) I did a fantastic Cenote dive (my first) at Dos Ojos on Saturday, and then a spectacular drift cliff dive off Cozumel. For two of 3 dives, it was just Hugo and myself, and the dive off Cozumel was myself and 3 other divers. On all 3 days of diving Blue Life was courteous, on-time, great about communicating and following up, professional and made sure the outings were fun experiences. In addition to the 3 dives, I also go my Nitrox certification with Blue Life. I would have no problem recommending them to anyone (new divers or old) who want a great diving experience in the Playa del Carmen area.

Excellent diving - local ocean, Cozumel and cenotes We had five days of wonderful diving with Blue Life - two days on the local Playa sites, two days on Cozumel via the ferry and a day at cenotes. We booked with Frank online and coordinated via both email and telephone. Frank has local and US phone numbers so he makes communications really easy - and he\'s almost instantaneous in responding to questions. It was kind of funny that we never actually met Frank in person during our visit, because he had gone to Mexico City to get a new vehicle for the business. However, he had everything so well organized that we didn\'t miss a beat. Josiah was our DM on the four ocean dive days. We met on our first day, set up our gear and didn\'t need to mess with it until our last dive. He took car of washing everything and hanging gear to dry. Throughout the dives, Josiah allowed us to dive at our own pace and spend as much time as we wanted checking out things we found and taking photos. He pointed out stuff he found, but he totally let us dive our own profiles and to our capabilities. We didn\'t surface until we needed to. It was great diving with Josiah. Rafael (aka Frenchie) took us diving at The Pit and Tajma Ha. We had two great dives and we loved experiencing Rafael\'s love of cenote and cave diving. We\'ve been diving with several other shops in the Playa area and Blue Life is the best we\'ve seen. We highly recommend them.

Blue Life Diving is fantastic This was my first time diving in the Riviera Maya. I had narrowed down my search to two dive shops. I am so glad that I went with blue life. Frank and his entire staff are awesome. Sarah is fantastic at helping with arrangements. As soon as we were checked in Frank was calling the room to finalize arrangements. I dove dos ojos with Raphael the first day. I had a few minor problems which Frank and Raphael sorted out quickly and professionally and spent the rest of the afternoon in dos ojos. I cannot recommend Raphael highly enough. He is a fantastic cave diver from Montreal. Frank knew that we were busy diving and running late so he called my wife at the resort to let her know so she was not worrying. The Cozumel dives with Hugo were fantastic. Frank really takes care of you. I will definitely be back and look forward to more dives with Blue Life Diving.

Extremely dedicated dive team I don\'t even know where to begin. I contacted Bluelife prior to arriving in Playa Del Carmen. Fank who answered took the time to explain the type of diving available in the area and answered my questions. He suggested the two most interesting Cenotes to dive and advised me to send a request via email to Sarah. Sarah responded promptly to my requests and booked me for two days, one for two cenotes and the other for two tank ocean dives. First day I dove with William who was very helpful with location information and suggested to head out to see Bull sharks. We had wonderful dive with bull sharks which have not let the area yet. Second day was spent diving Cenotes with Hugo who is very knowledgeable and patient. I highly highly recommend this dive operation for anyone who wats to throughly enjoy diving in Playa del Carmen and Cozumel.

Great diving with Hugo I am a beginner diver and do not know much about diving in Mexico but my three days with Blue Life on Taste Riviera Maya package were a total success. I dived with Hugo all three times and loved every minute under the water. Hugo was helpful but not stressful ibstructor. He really took us llaces where you can see sealife and enjoy the underwater world. The cenotes (The Pit and Dos Ojos) are a MUST SEE.

Accomodating, Safe & Personalized Attention! Explore the Cenote! The staff at this dive operation were responsive, thorough and professional which made me comfortable booking our first Mexican dives through this shop. We arranged transportation through the shop and our instructors came to pick us up right on time at our hotel, which we appreciated. I recommend this if possible since it cost about the same as a taxi and had the added benefit of ensuring you are on time, arriving with the instructor. I rented my equipment, and I was happy with the condition of everything. I was impressed that they took the time to bundle my gear according to the measurements I submitted through the online form. The instructor arrived with everything neatly bundled. The gear was high quality and worked perfectly for me. Our first dive was open water. Our instructor Hugo was very present, ensuring we had what we needed and were comfortable. The crew on the boat helped with equipment and handed us fresh water when we surfaced. The open water reef in Playa Del Carmen was fine and we did see an octopus and some rays, but I wish I had spent the extra money and requested a dive to Cozumel, which I expect may have been a little more exciting or vibrant. Our second dive was at the Dos Ojos Cenote. Amazing! Because it is a bit of a drive (almost to Tulum) we spent a lot of time with Wiliam, who was an excellent host. The entire day was exceptional and just really brought our trip to the next level. The area surrounding Dos Ojos has a nice community built with a few small places to get lunch or buy small souvenirs. For a first time cenote dive, this worked out very well. Photos of this destination are nice, but the location is stunning in person. If we are able to return we would try to arrange another dive through this shop with Wiliam and explore the other cenotes. Overall, I highly recommend booking dives through this shop. I was on the fence about the caven initially, but if you are a comfortable diver go with the cenote dive, it was incredible!

Outstanding dive centre and staff I am found this centre on Trip advisor after a lot of research. I am an advanced open water diver but the last time I was on a dive was two years ago and to say that I was rusty was an understatement. That said, diving in Mexico, especially on a first visit, was not to be missed. My wife and I watched a dive trip arrive on the beach. I liked the boat they were on and their equipment. Everyone seemed really happy and chilled. They looked like they had some serious fun, so we followed them to the dive shop and to our surprise it was the Blue Life Diving shop. I was met by the owner and he was really welcoming and friendly. His manager was also great. I explained that I was really rusty and they were cool and set me at ease. I really need my diving instructors and company to be friendly and to love their diving and their customers. They did this in bucket loads. The price was $86 for two shallow dives and I booked for the following day. The following day I arrived early and the instructor gave me loads of help with equipment and was a star. He gave a superb dive brief, I should\'t have expected any less for a former US Marine, and off we went. On my first dive I was nervous as it had been 2 years since I last been in the water, but Al was cool and put me at ease. When I started to dive, I made a diving school boy error and had to resurface. Al came up and helped me out. He made sure I did\'t feel like a complete fool and I really appreciated his calm and professional approach. We completed the dive and the second dive and I had a fantastic time. Plenty to see under water, Stingray, Barracuda, great reef etc. If you want to dive with true professionals and be treated like an adult whilst having the fun of a kid, use this company. Amazing experience.

Rickf902 – January 18, 2015

Great dives I had the pleasure of diving with Blue Life, and divemaster Wilian, for 3 days while I was in Playa. I opted for the Maya Riviera package -- the first day we dove at Cenote Dos Ojos. It included 2 tanks in the cenote for about a 45-50 minute dive each. This is Wilian\'s specialty, caves and caverns (incl centoes), so it was good to have him as my guide. The cenotes were crystal clear with spectacular stalagmites and columns. Bats, too. The second day we crossed to Cozumel for 2 more excellent dives, the 2nd one at a wreck site. Only thing that could have made it better would be to take a dive shop boat straight from PdC. The third day was off the beach at Playa. Again, would have been better if Blue Life had their own boat, but the diving was good (not nearly as good as Cozumel), including finding 5 or 6 bull sharks at 80 feet, and a fish-heavy reef on the 2nd dive, and Wilian encouraged best performance from me. It was good to dive with a small operation, with a highly experienced -- and what turned out to be my personal -- divemaster (this is NOT guaranteed, but glad that was my experience!).

Outstanding Experience I dove with Blue Life last week while visiting Playa Del Carmen. From my first inquiry over two months ago through the end of my dive excursion, they were the most professional dive operation that I\'ve experienced - anywhere. I had terrific email interactions with Frank who made good recommendations based on my experience and desires (ended up doing dives in Cozumel). The dive leader, William, was knowledgeable, professional, and an outstanding dive master. It was also great that it was only myself and one other person on the dive which really allowed a lot of interaction with William and a nicely tailored experience (fortunately, the other diver and I were totally compatible in terms of experience). I HIGHLY recommend Blue Life Diving and will definitely dive with them again on my next trip to the area.

Awesome diving with a fabulous and friendly company. Diving in Mexico was all I expected and so much more. Being my first time in Mexico I sought the advice of fellow divers through Trip Advisor and I\'m so glad I did! Blue Life Diving were outstanding, Frank was easy to contact via email which avoided confusing calls and charges, his team were a delight, their English was excellent as opposed to my non existent Spanish! They made me feel very welcome and were helpful and supportive after seven years away from diving. The hire equipment was great and the staff\'s guidance before, during and after each dive was faultless. Lastly, Cozumel is a MUST and Blue Life are the perfect people to get you there.. And back!!

Recommended Dive Op!! These guys were a very good and most importantly safety conscious dive operation to dive with. I had looked into several operators around the area in regards to diving both Cozumel (while staying on the mainland) and diving a cenote. Our divemasters name was Guilermo, who I would recommend to anyone. Both my wife and I had an amazing experience in the Dos Ojos Cenotes and felt very comfortable diving with this company. For those that are interested, Guillermo was totally as per regulations in full cave rig and we followed the guidelines at all times. Although we did not personally meet Karla and Frank they were in regular contact via email and phone and provided excellent service. Frank is an instructor trainer for both TDI and PADI and Blue Life runs some serious technical diving / cavern / cave courses. But they use that same sensible, safe approach with their recreational clients. Contact them, you\'ll be happy you did. http://bluelife.com/

Fantastic Diving! This shop is amazing! We completed our classroom and swimming pool PADI certification components in Canada, and signed up for the Open Water Certification through Blue Life (we strongly recommend this strategy for anyone starting out!). Leo was our instructor, and he did an amazing job! We got lots of personalized attention and really enjoyed the experience. So much so that once we were certified we signed up for another dive later in the week. William helped make the arrangements, and was also a pleasure to work with. Friendly, relaxed, and timely service the whole time. I would undoubtedly call these guys up again if I\'m ever back down there. Thanks Blue Life!

Personal Touch I contacted Frank before we left the UK about diving with Blue life after reading Tripadvisor reviews, his reply was prompt and informative and I contacted him again a couple of days after arriving in resort to organise my diving. Frank was in the USA but still took the trouble to phone me to say Willian would organise everything which he did. I would like to mention Monica for the confidence boosting dives, Pancho for possibly the most beautiful dives I have ever done and Willian for cenotes diving and my 1st exciting wreck dive and his total care. Pick up was always on time and their equipment is excellente! Being an older lady I was thinking that perhaps this would be my last year diving, but I had such a good time I cannot wait to dive again. Many thanks for a great experience guys.

Awesome Diving Not realizing our resort had a dive shop, we arranged to dive with Blue Life on our recent trip to Playa Del Carmen, and we are SO glad we did! We originally booked a 5-dive package; three cenote dives and two dives in Cozumel. When the dive days came, Willian picked us up at our resort right on time (apologizing for being 3 minutes late because of some issues with our hotel staff), we picked up our equipment, two other divers, and our tanks, and we were on our way. We had such a great first day diving with Willian in the cenotes (and getting our nitrox certs) that we ended up adding on another dive for the second day, so we did 2 Cozumel dives and another cenote, Cenote Zapote. That last cenote dive was not cheap, but it was 100% worth it, so if you get the chance, take it. It\'s a once in a lifetime kind of dive, and even the guys we dove with who had much, much more experience than we did said the same. Willian took awesome care of us, made sure we were comfortable and happy at every step, and just really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time diving and pushing our skill level just a little further than we had before, with great success. We enjoyed our Cozumel dives with Pancho as well, but the group was much larger and we didn\'t get as much of a chance to hang out with him, whereas we were driving around with Willian for 2 days. If you\'re in the area and looking to dive, dive with Blue Life. From setting everything up over email to the dives themselves to extra stuff we didn\'t anticipate doing, every part of it was awesome from start to finish. This is the kind of dive shop that spoils you for diving through less organized, less friendly resort shops.

Fantastic Experience... My son (Matt) and I have just returned to the UK from Riviera Maya and had a great trip. We are newly qualified divers and Blue Life organised 4 great dives for us. Frank and his team were easy to deal with before we arrived in Mexico and had everything well organised. Pete took us diving and was very thorough but relaxed with it. We saw loads of great stuff and will be back for a Cenote dive one day.

Dive with the best!..... My son and I used Blue Life on our recent trip to the Riviera Maya. My son communicated with Frank prior to our trip and arranged four days of diving. Frank was knowledgeable and a true diving professional. My son dove the reefs of Akumal with Pete who was patient and knowledgeable and who went out of he way to help when my son lost his camera. Thank you to Poncho for a great dives in Cozumel. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to Monica for three days of cenote dives, but most of all for my Intro to Dive. To say I am a less than adequate swimmer is an understatement.....this ladies knowledge, patience, and passion for diving is contagious.....she made my experience one of the best ever and she too went above and beyond to make our experience fabulous.... I am actually considering certification :-). My son was especially impressed with how dive times were maximized ,with the attention to safety and the fact that diving with the Blue Life staff makes you want to become a better diver and the tips they shared have absolutely increased his knowledge as a diver. Frank checked in with my son on a daily basis to make sure all dives went well and to reconfirm plans for the following day. We are planning a return trip so he can take Frank\'s Cave Diving and Side mount Course. Communication was better than great and he put together a custom package that exceeded our expectations. Thank you Frank and your staff..you\'re the best! Claudia P. and Morgan T.

Fantastic! Everything was smooth, well communicated, well organized, and a custom created experience! Price was fair and competitive and Blue Life really took the time to listen to what we were wanting to see and do, and came through in style!

Great Diving Experience! I had a great diving experience with Blue Life. I booked the excursion on-line after multiple email exchanges with Karla who was very attentive and answered all of questions to ensure that I would be happy with my purchase. William picked me up from my hotel and after we picked up another couple we proceeded to Akumal. This was a honeymoon trip although I dove by myself since my wife is not much of a swimmer. This was my first ocean dive and my experience could not have been better. I saw a variety of fish, a nurse shark and several sea turtles and words cannot describe how exhilarating it was. William was a fantastic tour guide and gave me several pointers throughout the dive to help me breathe more efficiently and also conserve my energy. When I return I will definitely plan my excursion with Blue Life and will likely dive in Cozumel to visit \"The Wall\".

Definitely one of the best dive places in Playa del Carmen. Frank, the owner took very good care of me, calling me from Mexico before my trip to get me a lot of information, made sure I knew what I should see, and was one of the best dive shop experiences I had. Even when I couldn\'t make the last day of my (planned) dive, Frank was prompt to refund the deposit when requested. I would highly recommend this shop!

Excellent service, great experience This is a top notch dive shop. Frank is on top of communication, and he\'s the guy at the helm of the shop. Frank responded to my inquiry to his website quickly and personally. The other two dive shops did not respond at all to my e-mails, while Frank called me, took time to answer my questions, and worked with my schedule. When some timing issues came up for me, Frank was gracious to work around them and schedule me at a time that worked for me. And due to an illness, I had to cancel two dives, which Frank reached out personally to make sure we were OK, to offer help, and promptly took care of the deposit that I had placed. Absolutely top notch service. Frank sets the bar VERY high, I will absolutely be diving here again next time I come back.

Awesome Dive Op Blue Life was recommended on ScubaBoard.com and I am so very glad I contacted them. Frank was always in contact with us at the resort arranging dives around our ever changing schedule. We had two different dive masters- Peter and William-and both were awesome. Very polite, professional and fun to be around. My wife had a broken foot and they got her to and from the dive sites, in and out of the water and helped her with all her equipment. They were amazing. The Cenote dives - breathtaking. Thank you Blue Life!

swhtoronto – July 28, 2014

Custom diving at its best I can tell you that Blue Life Diving\'s top spot on Trip Advisor has been well earned and deserved. My wife and I called a few dive operators for quotes and options on arrival in Playa. It was Blue Life Diving who\'s custom dive plan and attention to their customers needs won me over. Karla and Frank\'s attention to their customers is second to none. My wife got burnt on the day we went to Cozumel so wasn\'t feeling up to diving again in Cozumel the next day. Frank was so understanding and totally went out of his way to make last minute changes so we could dive two more cenotes vs. another long sunny trip on the Cozumel boat. Blue Life truly takes care of their customers and goes the extra mile to ensure that they are having a great time. In total we did ten dives with Blue Life. Also, their equipment is all top notch and well taken care of. Special thanks to William who helped me overcome my fear of cenote diving. (it was so good we dove four of them!) He practices super safe diving and is a great guide and an amazing person. We\'ll definitely we using Blue Life for all future diving trips on the Mayan Coast. They are the best!

Great company to dive with Blue Life was one of a few companies we tried while in Playa Del Carmen, and I wish we had tried them first. In a region heavy on profiteering, Blue Life\'s focus on Service and professionalism was refreshing and very appreciated. If there is any disparity in price between them and other companies (and there wasn\'t that I noticed), they are worth every cent

Amazing personalized experience - super accomodating My husband and I decided to purchase a Blue Life diving package on our recent trip to the Mayan Riviera. We are relatively new divers, and it was our first dive in 10 months. Karla and Frank were both super accommodating in helping us arrange a diverse schedule of dives for us which included: playa dives, conzumel and a variety of cenote dives. Also, due to personal circumstances and preferences, we ended up changing the dive days, and locations twice, which they did for us with no problems. All of our guides were great, but Willian in particular was AWESOME, he took us out in the cenotes, and my husband had a fear of confined space, but Willian was so safe and knowledgeable, he loved it - and we ended up going out again the last day on another cenote dive. Both Karla and Frank are very helpful, and great company. The next time we are back, we will definitely be diving with Blue Life, and highly recommend them to those looking for a great dive team.

Excellent diving and customer service I planned a diving trip with BlueLife while in Playa del Carmen for my wedding. At first we thought we would take everyone that came down snorkeling. We ended up not doing this, but Karla from Blue life was AMAZING. She was extremely quick and thorough with emails and even offered to email each person in our wedding group for us. I think I may have emailed Karla more than my wedding coordinator. She was so great! In the end we still dove with BlueLife but with a smaller group at Dos Ojos cenote and also my husband and I dove in Cozumel. Both dives were great. Cave diving is decidedly not for me, but it was amazing and really unique. All the equipment and guides were top notch. We even had friends that wanted to dive with us last minute and BlueLife was very accommodating and even calling our friends in their hotel room to get everything together. It was a great experience with BlueLife. I would highly recommend them!

Very Knowledgeable & Professional The guides at Blue Live have amazing technical diving skills and are fun to spend surface time with, also. When I come back to the area, I look forward to using their services again. They\'re very friendly and professional. Their pricing is comparable, but the quality of service they provide makes the value very high!

Experience of a Lifetime! If you are already a diver and haven\'t experienced the Playa/Cozumel/Tulum area of Mexico, you need to do it soon. If you are not certified, but have been thinking about it, what are you waiting for!? We recently returned from our trip, and can\'t wait to get back to one of the best diving areas in the world!!! Blue Life made our experience even more memorable by providing first class service and professionalism. Both Frank and Karla are English speaking, as well as our DM Pete, which made arrangements that much easier. Pete was exceptional in his services as well. He was a wealth of information, and showed much skill and concern for everyone\'s happiness and safety. Both me and my wife highly recommend Blue Life if you are looking to add to your diving bucket list, or to get the proper training in a world class environment.

Top Rate Diving Came out to Playa this past week. We had scheduled many dives to be done throughout the week. Blue Life was very organized. We dove with Samantha in Cozumel on the \"wall\". She was very sweet and helpful. Peter dove with us for the rest of our dives. English speaking always a plus. Super outgoing and fun to dive with. Peter picked us up from our hotel and drove us out to the dive boat for the salt dives, and for the Cenotes...picked us up and did the thirty minute drive with us. Willing to hold your hand if you need it, but for a seasoned diver you will feel like he is your friend. Had a fabulous time. Thank you Frank, Karla, Peter and Sam. We will definitely be back and use you again.

Discover Scuba course and Refresher/ Fun Dives We dove with Blue Life as 3 first time divers and an out of water DMT. Frank insured to schedule dive locations that would interest all of us, despite the vast array of skill levels. Absolutely one of the best dive operations I have been with, very through and professional. Pete was a great instructor as well, the new divers were in great hands. Will be back, and highly recommend

Best time ever!!! I just got my PADI Open Water Certification through Frank from Blue Life, and I can\'t say enough good things about my experience ... I even got a Deep Water Adventure dive all thanks to Blue Life. Every aspect of my dive trip was taken care of perfectly--transportation to and from dive sites, equipment, and the best dive sites the area has to offer. Frank and Karla provide impeccable service and top professional divers as guides and instructors. Whether you\'re looking to get OW certified, Advanced OW, full cave, tech diving. Aside from certifications; if you\'re just looking for some great diving (the Cenotes, great wreck and reef dives) I, personally, can see no reason why anyone would choose any other shop than Blue Life. I can\'t thank them enough for facilitating my entry into diving ... it was an absolute pleasure to work and dive with them. I\'m already planning my next dive trip and I will certainly go with Blue Life. So, thank you to Frank, Karla and Pete ... I look forward to diving with you again!

Outstanding! Having reviewed the various dive operations in the area Frank and Blue Life were recommended to me by my dive shop Manager back in Indonesia, a guy who knows the top instructors in their fields all over the world. Working in the industry i\'ve experienced a lot of good courses run by true professionals and I have to say that Frank is truly exceptional at what he does. Aside from the fact he wrote the PADI sidemount course and that he is an intrinsic part of cave exploration in the area his teaching is up to date and bang on point- While some instructors may teach you simply to dive the line Frank dives the cave: awareness a key point to his training and while you\'re consciously learning the skills to keep safe and explore this incredible world Frank is reinforcing those points through a level of training where every minute underwater teaches you to be the best you can and stay safe doing it. During the course I also had the opportunity to meet and talk with the some top explorers in the field and everyone of them acknowledged great respect for Frank as a man at the top of his game. So here\'s my recommendation- Dive with Blue Life for one of the most rewarding experiences of your life!

Best Dive Operation I\'ve Used I\'ve used many dive ops all over the world. Frank and Karla, by far, are the most patient, accommodating and knowledgeable that I\'ve experienced. We threw a few curve balls at them - there was some scuba, freediving and videography involved, and in multiple locations depending on light, depth and background. Never once did it seem that they were unwilling to go above and beyond to provide exactly what we needed on any given day. I\'m a scuba and freediving instructor, and can imagine that with Frank\'s nature and experience, he would be a fantastic teacher. I wouldn\'t hesitate to take a course with him, and I know who I\'ll call the next time I\'m in the area.

Great diving & crew Just back from Mexico and 4 days of diving (in total 10 dives) with a Blue Life and DM Pete. I have had one, if not the best dive experience in my life. I booked through Karla at Blue Life 4 days of diving, including Cenote, Cozumel & Bull shark. The superb communication between Karla and myself before my arrival and the great support from my dive buddy / dive master Pete made this an incredible diving experience. When (not if!) I come back, I\'ll make sure to dive with you again!

Filming with success, couldn\'t have done it without Blue Life We were in Playa on a mission: a complex film shoot in the cenotes and the ocean, with very specific requirements for the required shots we needed. Blue Life managed our project\'s location requirements, our gas needs, out transport, pickup and drop off, boat, equipment and safety. We needed this shoot to go flawlessly as we were on a very tight schedule. Frank took care of my safety while I was operating the camera, and he and Karla worked with the underwater subjects we were shooting. We were shooting free divers, so it all had to be well coordinated with little margin for error. Really we are in their debt for the success of this shoot, and I am planning to go back and do cave training with Frank. That\'s how impressed I was with their operation. Pete Bucknell

The most incredible dive op. We found Blue Life (Frank and Karla) through the ScubaBoard forum. It began simply with us asking questions about diving in the area and they were kind enough to offer their experiences and local knowledge. We decided based on the prompt and genuine replies that we would dive with Blue Life. After more than a month of email correspondence prior to heading to Mexico we had everything planned out thanks to their excellent communication skills and dedication to their business and passion. We were incredibly happy with all of our cenote and ocean dives and couldn\'t imagine doing it with anybody else. We did have one small issue arise which was not Blue Life\'s fault - despite this, they still made every effort to accommodate us and ensure that our trip and memory of diving in Mexico was nothing less than it should have been - Incredible. After diving with Blue Life we have also decided that when we decide to do our Cave certifications we will not even consider doing it through anyone else. Blue Life\'s dedication to safety and their veteran experience in the field makes them the obvious choice. Thank you for a memorable trip and we look forward to seeing you in the future. T and N

first time diver... now a diver forever I did my first dives with blue life. I have to say I have never experienced anything quite like it. The dive sites where amazing, I visited a few reefs, did one night dive, visited a number of cenotes, (\"angelita\" is my favorite) and the guys from blue life even set up a day for me to go swimming with whale sharks... not a lot of people get to say that. The dive sites I visited where incredible but the success of my experience had to do a lot with the blue life team. Not only do these guys speak perfect English and Spanish they know their way around Playa del Carmen better than anyone I saw there. They know all the cenotes, the boat owners, the lady that fills the tanks, the rest of the diving community in playa and tulum, they even know the best place to get tacos after a long day of diving.... and trust me you\'re going to thank them for that. These guys are easy going and fun to be around, but even as a new diver they always made me feel safe in the water. They are amazing instructors, incredably professional, and all around experienced divers. I am hoping to return to Mexico soon for my rescue course and I\'m looking forward to it like a 5 year old waits for Christmas. I can\'t wait to go back to Mexico and go diving with my friends.

Eat, Sleep and Dive.....Living the dream! Diving in Mexico was one of my top expereinces! Between reef diving and cenote diving you have so many options! Our guide and now good friend Cristobal\'s was amazing, we could not have asked for a better guide. We did two days of reef and ship wreck diving, wandered over to Cozumel for a day and then we started in on the cenotes! The cenotes were quite the exciting adventure and Cristobal always made sure we were well prepared. His knowledge of how to properly plan and navigate the dives was so reassuring it made the diving even more enjoyable. My teammates and I were so happy with all of the dives. It would be hard pick a favorite dive, but two that really stood out to me were El Pit and Angelita. El Pit was a giant hole that had a thick sulfur layer around 30m(??) that you were able to descend down through that looked like a dense fog, you could barely see a foot in front of you. It was so much fun. I would highly recommend this trip to experienced divers who have their buoyancy under full control because kicking up sand and nudging the stalactites is never fun for anyone. This is a great trip for people who want to either plan group dives or want to take their own solo vacation and dive with Cristobals! :) Have fun!

We were diving with Blue Life for three days and I wish we could have stayed for weeks. Our guide Cristobal was very professional, extremly helpful and friendly. Cavern diving with blue life- amazing I did 4 dives with omer last week, our guide was cris. First of all, as omer said- the caverns were amazing, very different from normal ocean diving, one of the \"musts\" in the diving world.. Something you have never seen before. The ocean dives were asa beautiful as always. Second, all the management of frank and cris made the experience very pleasant- from the beginning with all the info we got about the dives, thru the preperations and what should we expect in the dives, and to the dives itself- cris did a great job, i enjoyed it very much. Very comfortable- great guide and a great guy in general. Continue with your good work!

AMAZING experience!!! After i got recommendations on FB and on TA i decided contact Frank, He gave me all the information I needed about diving around Playa Del Carmen. If you are looking for someone who knows about dive sites in the area especially Cenotes sites. I dove with Cris. Besides of being a great guy, he gave us a lot of info about the area and the dive sites we were about to dive and let us feel very relaxed and secure. First we dove in \"The Pit\" a deep cenote with crystal blue waters and la_res of sea water and sulfur which was mind blowing and a very cool, beside the stalagmites that you see there, no doubt an experience very different from the \"normal\" ocean dives. the second site was \"The Bat Cave\", not as deep as the first cenote but with very beautiful stalagmites and good training for your buoyancy skills. I also dove 2 ocean dives with Cris, and it really felt that he was diving with me and not for me.. In conclusion, I highly recommend diving with Blue Life if you are looking to dive in PDC and the area, small groups and great guides.

Dive in Cozumel

  • Situated in front of Playa del Carmen, Cozumel is a teardrop shaped island boasting beautiful dives on drop-offs and shallow colorful reefs along the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. Called Ah-Cuzamil Peten (land of the swallows) by its earliest inhabitants, Cozumel has been a favorite destination for divers since 1961, when Jacques Yves Cousteau’s documentary broadcast Cozumel’s amazing sea life to the world.
  • A National Park characterized by a vertical drop off that that boasts large sponges and many different types of coral and crystal clear waters.
  • Keep a keen eye out into the deep blue, to spot large pelagic fish and sometimes sharks patrolling the area.
  • Along the reef, apart from the amazing coral, you will see lobsters, large crabs, groupers, giant moray eels, turtles and much more.
  • Scuba Libre is one of few companies in Playa that arranges this express service.
  • This is the exclusive option to visit the beautiful reefs of Cozumel crossing from Playa del Carmen straight to the dive sites.
  • The boat ride among the bluest waters takes about 45 minutes (depending on weather conditions) to gets you right on the first dive with your dive gear already set up … ready to DIVE!!!
  • After the first dive on the beautiful wall of Santa Rosa, Palancar or Colombian Reef, a snack and short navigation will bring us on the second dive site in which will drift along the shallow coral reef.

Scuba diving in Cozumel and Playa del Carmen

  • Showstopping reefs and plummeting walls, home to sharks, turtles, and eagle rays
  • Underground exploration in the Yucatan's limestone caves - known as "cenotes"
  • Seasonal diving experiences with migratory bull sharks
  • Conditions for all with easy-going reef diving, fast-paced drifts, and full overhead environments

If Playa del Carmen and Cozumel's incredible diving isn't on your travel radar, it should be. These resort destinations offer up amazing underwater experiences with a bit of something for every diver. Whether you're hoping to dive plummeting walls and explore the great Mesoamerican Reef, or come face to face with bull sharks, you've come to the right place. Not to mention fascinating and one-of-a-kind explorations in the Yucatan Peninsula's cenotes - limestone caves and caverns filled with fresh water. On land you'll find top-notch tourist facilities with accommodations, dining, and nightlife to suit everyone and stunning scenery with Mayan ruins, beaches, and of course, the sparkling Caribbean Sea.

Cozumel and Playa del Carmen diving offers incredible opportunities for underwater exploration, with the Mesoamerican Reef - one of the world's longest barrier reef systems - on its doorstep. Dive in search of sea turtles, squadrons of eagle rays, and schooling reef fish by the thousand, as well as wrecks such as the Felipe Xicoténcatl C-53. Lucky divers might also spot gigantic barracuda and tarpon, nurse sharks, and cryptic creatures like splendid toadfish and seahorses.

Diving Cozumel's walls and reefs

While much of the Caribbean is famous for its shallow light-filled coral gardens, Cozumel is renowned for its plummeting walls and drop-offs. Some sites, like Santa Rosa Wall, boast incredible coral gardens in the shallows, powerful currents, and sheer vertical formations plunging into the abyss. Search the caverns and overhangs here for harder to spot reef creatures and sleeping sharks. And, remember to keep one eye on the blue - you never know what might pass by!

Many of the dive sites shared by Cozumel and Playa del Carmen lie within a protected channel, offering shelter from the open ocean and allowing for the development of incredible and, in some cases gigantic, coral colonies. Massive elkhorn and brain corals punctuate the landscape, joined by colourful sponges, fans, and sea whips. These carpeting coral fields are a magnet for marine life, drawing schools of snapper, behemoth grouper, and even sharks. Cozumel's windward, or open ocean side, is also home to scattered coral gardens and sand channels. You might spot passing pelagics here, and some sites boast fascinating artefacts, including hundreds of years old Spanish cannons.

Cenote diving in the Yucatan Peninsula

In Playa del Carmen, cenote diving is a top attraction - and you don't have to be an advanced diver to experience it! Many of this region's cenotes are suitable for divers of all skill levels, and even snorkellers, providing you don’t venture into any enclosed caves or tunnels. Some of these freshwater formations house incredible archaeological finds, including evidence of human sacrifice. Other interesting sights include diving through a swirling halocline - where fresh and saltwater meet and otherworldly scenes like petrified trees and clouds of hydrogen sulfide gas.

Playa del Carmen's bull sharks

Each year between November and March, female bull sharks return to these calm coastal waters to pup. For divers, this means a once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with these powerful predators in a safe and controlled setting. Divers kneel patiently in the sand and wait for the sharks to approach a submerged bait box. While it's typical to spot just a few individuals during your dive, up to a dozen sharks can be seen swimming together.

Day trip diving

If you're planning to sample the very best of Playa del Carmen and Cozumel scuba diving, leave some time in your schedule to explore other incredible sites around the Yucatan Peninsula. Day trips can be organised to snorkel with whale sharks around Cancun and Isla Mujeres or dive the stunning reefs in the Costa Maya region to the south. Just keep in mind that you can expect one or two hours of transit each way between Playa del Carmen and these areas, and of course, the trip is quite a bit longer from Cozumel.

Year round, best November to June

Top tips For your best chances of diving with bull sharks, plan to visit Playa del Carmen between November and March. This is one of the world's best places to earn your cavern or cave speciality - don't miss out! No matter when you visit, pack protection against sun and mosquitoes - you'll likely need both. Avoid Playa del Carmen's Fifth Avenue district if you're hoping to steer clear of the party scene. Avoid using ATMs wherever possible, scammers are often waiting to clone the bank cards of unwitting tourists.

About Cozumel and Playa del Carmen

Cozumel is one of Mexico's largest islands, home to a population of over 70,000. Most of the island's residents and tourists can be found on the western coast, either in the town of San Miguel or further north in the official hotel zone. Much of the rest of the island remains an uninhabited nature preserve, boasting vast mangrove forests, ancient ruins, and windswept beaches. The island's wild northern and southern points are perfect for snorkelling and beachcombing, with fewer tourists and a stunning unspoilt backdrop of swaying palms, sparkling white sand, and turquoise sea that feels miles from the major resorts.

Just across the channel on the mainland, Playa del Carmen is known for its boisterous nightlife and entertainment, including dining, drinking, and shopping. The town's famous Fifth Avenue is a hive of activity, home to tourist attractions, services, and tour companies of all kinds, and easy access to public transportation with multiple transit hubs. While Playa del Carmen does have plenty of beautiful beaches to choose from, they are less than ideal for snorkelling. Instead, most of Playa's diving takes place offshore via day trips or at the nearby cenotes.

Diving, snorkelling, and coastal tours are the main attractions around Cozumel and Playa del Carmen. But, both destinations offer plenty of attractions on land as well. Mayan ruins, museums, shopping, and other outdoor activities like golf will keep non-divers busy for days on end.

Getting there

Nearly every dive trip to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula begins at the Cancun International Airport, the region's central transit hub and Latin America's third busiest airport. It is well connected with daily direct flights to Europe, the US and Canada, Central and South America, and beyond.

If you're staying in Playa del Carmen, you can expect an easy hour-long commute heading south, with shuttle service, taxis, rental cars, and public busses all departing directly from the airport. And, most resorts and dive centres are also happy to help you arrange transfers. Once in town, navigation is easy, with taxi ranks in front of every resort and shopping plaza, plus pedicabs, bicycles, and scooters for rent. While there are plenty of public parking for rental cars within hotels and resorts, the same can't be said for the tourist district around Playa's famous Fifth Avenue. Here, parking can be scarce and expensive, so it's best to leave your car behind.

If you're heading out to Cozumel, you'll need to take the ferry across. Departures are every hour, and it takes just 30 minutes to reach the island. Cozumel is small enough that walking or riding a bike can easily get you where you want to go. But, scooter rentals are popular for travellers who aren't used to the island's warm tropical climate and powerful sun.

Where to stay

Despite their proximity, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen offer distinctly different travel vibes. Divers will find a wide variety of accommodations in either destination, regardless of budget and personal travel style.

Cozumel is a classic Mexican seaside resort, boasting high-rise hotels, sprawling all-inclusive resorts, and plenty of budget and mid-range accommodations. The island boasts a distinctly slower pace than much of the mainland, with less nightlife than nearby destinations like Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Instead, the focus is on the island's natural beauty, with stunning white sand beaches, mangrove forests, and massive groves of swaying palm trees.

Playa del Carmen is home to the Yucatan Peninsula's hottest party scene, in addition to serving as the gateway to fantastic scuba diving and other adventures. Pulsing nightclubs, ‘foodie’ dining options, and massive outdoor shopping plazas are all part of the town's allure. You'll find resorts and hotels in all shapes and sizes here, plus plenty of budget-friendly options including quiet guesthouses and diving-focused hostels. But, this destination feels much more like a city than Cozumel and doesn't offer the same access to unspoilt nature.

Cozumel and Playa del Carmen diving seasons and weather

Playa del Carmen and Cozumel enjoy a year-round warm tropical climate. No matter when you visit, plan for hot sunny afternoons topping out at around 32C, and balmy, humid evenings. That said, Cozumel's island breeze does help cool things down after dark, especially during January and February. During the rainy season from May to November, daily heavy downpours are the norm, but a little bit of rainfall is normal even during the dry months between December and April . Water temperatures in the sea fluctuate between 26 - 30C, though many of the cenotes run cooler all year round, thanks to their spring fed sources. These underground waterways also enjoy incredible visibility all year round, making them an excellent option if you’re visiting during the sometimes turbulent storm season.

Like the rest of Mexico's Yucatan, the storm season runs from May through November, with tropical depressions and hurricanes most commonly occurring between August and November. The shoulder months of the rainy season can bring wind and fast-moving weather patterns, sometimes impacting diving conditions with waves and surge. This is especially true of Cozumel's wild windward side.

From December through April is considered the busy season here, with two main peaks to avoid - the Christmas and New Year holidays, and "Semana Santa", the Mexican vacation period associated with Easter. So, when is the best time to go to Cozumel for diving? Most guests with experience in the region plan their trips during summer months like May and June or just before the holiday rush in November - for a chance to dive with Playa del Carmen's famous bull sharks.

Conservation

In 1996, Mexico launched a programme to slowly transform much of the Yucatan Peninsula and its surrounding reef system into protected marine areas. Today, much of Cozumel has been incorporated, with two separate marine parks making up the UNESCO protected Isla Cozumel Biosphere Reserve. These nature preserves protect a wide variety of land and sea animals as well as migratory birds. While several areas around Playa del Carmen, including Xcaret and Xel-Há, may bill themselves as eco-parks, they are not protected marine areas but instead themed private nature reserves.

If you're hoping to get hands-on with conservation during your time in Cozumel or Playa del Carmen, you're nearly guaranteed to find a volunteer opportunity. The region is home to numerous environmental organisations focused on reef restoration and sea turtle protection and rehabilitation.

Thank you Santi for your patience and above all for sharing with us the passion and love you have for diving, it was incredible and we couldn't have had a better teacher for this course. 💙👏🏻✨🤩 Love to learn and enjoy these days at sea. Open water 🤩😍

I did my open water, a night dive and some cenote dives with Liz and I loved everything from start to end. Liz is an amazing diver and very experienced. I always felt safe and I liked how easy-going she is, really felt like diving with a friend. I highly recommend Jaguar Divers…

It was an amazing experience!!! Santi was really professional and helped me every step of the way. It was important for me to notice that he had a lot of experience. He was very paciente and kind with muy process because it was my fist time and I was very nervous. At the end of the open water everything was smooth and very enjoyable. Im so happy I did it!!!

Amazing experience. I passed my open water certification with Santiago and it was the best. I recommend 1000. I will continue diving with juaguar diver

Liz and Santi are very lovely to dive with. They perform excellent customer service and are very professional divers. I did three days of diving in Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and the cenotes. I had a great time, loads of fun and felt very safe all the time. I highly recommend jaguar divers. I will definitely dive with them again, when I come back to Mexico!

I dived to a Cenote with Liz. Wonderful experience with a great guide. Will dive with them again when I’m back in Mexico!

Great experience with Liz and Santi! Two pro’s that provide an excellent experience and unique dives! Diving with them feels like diving with friends. Without them I would not have been able to experience Zapote Cenote, which has the most unique formations on the planet! Thank you for taking me to see something thats not only unique within Mexico, but unique in the whole world.

Fantastic diving experience. Went with a friend who's not completely comfortable in the water, they took their time to ensure everything was going well. We did two cenotes dives and two oceans. All were an amazing time. I recommend Jaguar Divers to anyone looking to dive in Playa del Carmen

Experienced team and very professional! Really loved the experience. This was my first time scuba diving and definitely will do it again.

It was an incredible experience, the service provided by Liz, Andrés, Rubén and Santi was spectacular. I highly recommend diving with them, very responsible, patient and fun. We were a varied group where some snorkeled, others their first dive and others certified diving and the experience was very good for all

Awesome Dives and PADI Advanced Training with Liz. She's great and very professional. Everything was super well organized and I felt really comfortable and safe during the entire training, even had an amazing Night Dive! Super recommended!

I had great time diving with Emilio and Liz offered a lot of good advice regarding booking. The dives were great and were well managed. I got a lot of great photos. I would say that Jaguar Divers can offer great dives for experienced and novice divers

I spent an absolutely unique and unforgettable morning diving 2 cenotes with dive and cave master Emilio. He opened an entirely new underwater world to me as the cenotes are nothing like the ocean. Magnificent light, beautiful underwaterlilies, stalactites, caverns, halocline cloud, schools of shiny little fish, dark holes….Liz and Santi organized everything super easy and well. Thank you! I would love to do cave training some time with Emilio!

My wife and I had a blast and the cenote dives were truly incredible! It was in fact so good that we went for a second day with Jaguar Divers. All of them are true professionals and you will certainly have a great time with them above water and a safe and chill time under water. They even went for the extra mile and organized a babysitter for our 4yo daughter so that we can enjoy our dives! It was truly an incredible experience and if we return one day they'll be the first to be contacted by us.

It was an Excelent experience. Santi was always pending on my requirements to make possible my diving and always willing to help in any other requirements. Jadel, the diver that went with me was very clear with all the instructions, put safety first and had all the required equipment to enjoy the diving without issues

We dove the PDC reefs, Cozumel reef, wreck and cenotes. Santi was extremely helpful in planning and arranging everything prior to our arrival. One thing in particular I liked is that the price he gave us included everything. (Other shops said there would be separate entrance fees, park fees, or taxi fees) Santi and Liz were both very professional, friendly, and we felt safe on every dive with them. We will definitely contact them for our next dives in the area!

Myself and my two older teenage children really enjoyed our re-introduction to scuba day led by the brilliant Santi at Jaguar Divers. He got my daughter to overcome her fear of emptying her mask underwater. The reef dives in the afternoon were great. Jaguar Divers is a small but really well run dive business, thoroughly recommended.

Exception Service! Definitely recommend Jaguar Divers! Exceptional service and great people.

Santiago made the entire experience absolutely perfect. Santi's hospitality is legendary. Highly recommend this experience. Small caveat, the location and front door may seem intimidating, but it is perfectly safe, and Santi makes sure to take care of you every step of the way. He runs the operation like you're going to be part of his diving family.

What a fantastic day! Liz sets the tone for a relaxing and intellectual journey to the amazing cenotes! She made us feel safe and welcome from the moment we met her. Communication prior to even arriving in Mexico was too notch! Trustworthy and inspiring owners and crew. I highly recommend Jaguar Divers and experiencing the unbelievable beauty of cenote diving. We’ll be back for sure!

Without a doubt the best diving center in Playa del Carmen. Fun & Dive

Thanks for such an amazing experience this Christmas! Super professional and super friendly team

7. DIY Day Trip: Pre-Book Ferry Tickets

Ferry waiting to take passengers on a day trip to Cozumel from Playa del Carmen.

⭐️  Rating:  4.2/5 Stars | ⏳  Tour Length:  Varies | ✅  Book Now

Prebooking your ferry tickets to Cozumel is a great way to ensure that you have an easy and stress-free day trip from Playa del Carmen. Once we were familiar with Cozumel, we did this a few times. There’s so much to do there!

If you’re planning a DIY day trip itinerary , don’t wait until the last minute. The ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel can become quite busy in peak season and tickets may sell out. People who show up last minute may get turned away. When booking your ferry tickets, check what time your return ferry leaves from Cozumel so that you don’t miss it. Walk or take a taxi to the ferry terminal in Playa del Carmen. There is very limited parking available at the terminal. The primary gateway between Cozumel and the mainland of the Yucatan Peninsula, including Cancun and the Riviera Maya , is operated by Ultramar and WinJet. The ferry companies offer hourly ferries starting from 7 am to 10 pm daily.

Pleasant trip with nice music. Nice boat.  Getyourguide reviewer (read more Reviews )

☑️ Round-trip ferry ticket (premium or first class) ☑️ On-board amenities (depends on the ticket option chosen) ☑️ On-board restrooms Note : There is an extra deck charge tax (~15-16 MXN) not included in the prepay ticket option. Bring some cash to pay it when boarding.

It’s only a short ferry ride away from Playa del Carmen, making it ideal for a day trip to Cozumel from Playa del Carmen. cozumel dive trips from playa del carmen

I'll be there first part of May, full days Fri/Sat/Sun. Staying in an Airbnb close to downtown Playa. I've been hunting through posts and responses and the most relevant ones are unfortunately quite old so i'm not sure if the information is valid. Here's what I want/need to know.......

* Cozumel - same-ish question. Thinking of taking the ferry over for a day. Read a post about Punta Sur Reef and that it was accessible from a restaurant Pepitos, then someone else commented Pepitos no longer exists. Recommendations for where to go? Again, worth booking through a company?

*Ruins - same as above! Go with a tour or go alone and then......where? I know it's going to be toasty (we're from AZ so no stranger to the heat) but still.

Anything else random you recommend? Two 50yo savvy women open to adventure!

Cozumel offers several options. They offer snorkeling trips on the ferry boat or just as you get off the ferry. Small panga boats will pick you up at or near the dock and take you to either 2 places or 3 places to snorkel, different fish. You can also take a taxi to one of the beach clubs on the southwest side of the island and swim the 100 ft to the same National Park and reef that is connected to Puerto Morelos.

Akumal is a different set up. Take the colectivo or Mayab bus to Akumal and walk from the road to the beach. Get to Akumal through the arches. Try to stake out a spot at Lol Ha, a popular restaurant, located between the Akumal Dive Center and Akumal Dive shop (you can rent a locker for your valuables) and if you wish, obtain a guide to snorkel with the turtles, maybe sting rays, grouper, barracudas, fish boils etc. Check out the Akumal tripadvisor forum for mor up to date info. VancouverSunDog is a wealth of information.

On the Playa beach or the Playacar beach you will find numerous vendors that will arrange for snorkeling tours to Inna Reef, another popular place to snorkel, but it's a long panga boat ride.

Or, you could contact Edventure Tours and they will pick you up, drop you off and custom design a tour for you.

All of these places will supply any or all equipment you need. Life vests are required in Akumal Bay, this time it was a Canadian who should have had the vest, God rest his soul. Those inflatable vests do not take up much room in your luggage.
